Episode #12610 ~ Nicole faces danger; Eric uncovers the whole truth about Serena; Serena prepares to leave Salem; Brady stuns Theresa with his rules about their future interactions.
Provided By Suzanne
Theresa: You know, I think that both of us committing to staying here in Salem for a year is a good thing. We could get to know each other in a whole new way, and it could be a new beginning for us.
Brady: Oh, that's exactly what it's gonna be, but not in the way that you think.
Theresa: What does that mean?
Brady: It means that I've been putting up with your lies, and your interference in my life for way too long. But now, hey, it's all gonna change.
Theresa: You know what, Brady, if this is your idea of co-parenting, you didn't read the same article that I did.
Brady: It's over, Theresa. We're done.
Brady: You're done.
Theresa: Just because you got me to sign some piece of paper that says I'm not gonna leave Salem for a year? You know, there's still custody and visitation and child support to work out, Brady, and if you think that my lawyer is gonna let you walk all over me, you--
Brady: Stop! I'm gonna be completely reasonable. I'm gonna be reasonable when it comes to Tate. You are his mother, he needs you, I understand that. God help him.
Theresa: So then, when you said things changed, what were you talking about?
Brady: You and me.
Maggie: Henderson is taking all the food from last night to a soup kitchen.
Maggie: It probably wasn't the best idea to have a dinner party anyway... with Melanie leaving town, and-- you were right to cancel.
Victor: I know.
Maggie: So, the cook wants to know when we're going to reschedule the dinner. I told him I'd have to talk it over with you.
Victor: I can't afford to have some screw-up around the house who thinks he can change the rules anytime he damn well pleases. I won't say it a third time. You're out. Now go.
Maggie: Victor? Is something wrong?
Victor: There won't be a dinner honoring Xander cook.
Maggie: Why not?
Victor: Because I don't want him to set foot in this house ever again.
Nicole: "Alexandros... Kiriakis... A.K.A. Xander Cook. Legal problems... in Scotland."
[Cell phone rings]
Nicole: Hmm, speak of the devil. Hi. I've been meaning to call you.
Xander: Oh, yeah?
Nicole: Yeah, I've been really busy.
Xander: I'm sure you have been. I thought a lot about you last night.
Nicole: Pleasant thoughts, I hope?
Xander: Let's just say they were...memorable.
Daniel: Okay, she should be home soon, and we sit down and just work this out. No, I gotta--I gotta--
[Knock at door]
Daniel: Aah... I've gotta wait.
Eric: Hey, I was afraid you wouldn't be home.
Daniel: What's wrong?
Eric: Is it that obvious?
Daniel: It is to me.
Eric: It's Serena.
[Knock at door]
Serena: Mrs. Brady.
Caroline: Well, I baked today, and I asked myself, "I wonder how long it's been since Serena had some homemade cookies."
Serena: That's really sweet of you.
Caroline: Well, Eric just loves macaroons, and so I thought-- are you going on a trip?
Serena: It's actually more than that. I'm...I'm leaving Salem.
Caroline: Does Eric know that?
Xander: I was calling because I was thinking maybe we could get together later. That a possibility?
Nicole: Oh, well, I think that can be arranged, since you sound so eager to see me.
Xander: Baby... you have no idea.
Theresa: You know, when I said I hoped this could be a new beginning for us, I hope you know that I meant as parents. I certainly don't expect you, Brady, to just ask-- [Clears throat]
Brady: Look, this isn't the best place for us to talk.
Theresa: You know what? Tate is getting out of here in the morning, and we need to figure it out before then.
Brady: Look, you're welcome to come to my place. You can see Tate's nursery.
Theresa: Oh, well, actually, I would really like that. But, um, you know, why don't you come to my place and see where Tate's going to be when I have him?
Brady: Fine, we'll go there.
Theresa: Great, and then we can finally be alone and we can talk about what's best for our son, so...
Serena: Actually, I was hoping that Eric would come with me.
Serena: Don't worry, Mrs. Brady, I don't see it happening.
Caroline: I don't understand.
Caroline: It's none of my business.
Serena: Guess there's just some things that aren't meant to happen no matter how much you want them to.
Caroline: Oh... well, I'm sorry.
Serena: Me, too.
Caroline: Well... I don't understand because... I like you so much and you don't put on any airs, and you're so good for Eric, you make him so happy.
Serena: You really think so?
Caroline: I don't say what I don't mean.
Daniel: You want to talk about it? Is there something I can do to help?
Eric: Actually, there is. I mean, if it's not too much trouble.
Daniel: Eric, we're friends. Whatever it is, it's not too much trouble.
Eric: Daniel, I may have found out some things that make me believe that Serena was using me. I also think that she may have been using Melanie... and you.
Nicole: Well, I might be able to see you tonight, but first I have to finish this research I'm working on.
Xander: What kind of research?
Nicole: Background on certain members of the Salem Board of Ed.
Xander: And you'd rather do that than be with me?
Nicole: No, but it's my job, and I keep coming up with dead ends.
Xander: Well, maybe there's nothing to find.
Nicole: Oh, I doubt that.
Xander: Well, whatever it is, I'm sure you'll find it. You're like me. You don't give up until you get what you want.
Nicole: Well, I should go. I'm already not going to finish till late, so... you know what? Why don't I call you when I'm done? See if you still want to meet.
Xander: I'll be waiting for that call.
Nicole: Okay. Okay. "Alexandros Kiriakis, A.K.A. Xander Cook, legal problems in Scotland." Okay, internet gods, don't fail me now.
Xander: Better finish your work soon, Nicole. I do not like to be kept waiting.
Serena: Thank you for the cookies... and for the nice things that you said to me.
Caroline: I'm really sorry we didn't get to know each other better.
Serena: I know. I really wish that we'd gotten to spend more time together. Feel like I could have learned a lot from you.
Serena: Thank you.
Caroline: Oh! [Laughs]
Xander: I was just getting ready to knock. Who's this lovely lady?
Serena: Ah, this is Caroline Brady, Eric's grandmother.
Serena: Xander and I worked together in Africa.
Caroline: Oh! You know my grandson?
Xander: Well, not well, but I can tell he's a good man.
Caroline: Oh, yes. I think so, too. [Chuckles] Good-bye, dear. All the best, hmm?
Serena: Thank you. What are you doing here?
Nicole: "The national records of Scotland holds many records relating to crime and criminals." All right. Let's see, Alexandros... Kiriakis. I can't believe it. Pay dirt! Okay, "The Crown Office V. Alexandros Kiriakis." I need a password. Of course, I need a password. How am I gonna get that? Okay, let's see here. "The defendant's attorney: The law firm of Connery, Moore, and Dalton." Hi, I need an international operator. Great. Yes, can you connect me to the Crown Office in Glasgow?
Daniel: How was Serena using Melanie and me?
Eric: Over the past couple of months, Serena kept coming up with reasons to spend time here.
Daniel: Yeah, makes sense, doesn't it? Melanie was her only friend.
Eric: Right, but...listen. Do you remember seeing anything odd about her?
Daniel: The only thing I can think of is, more than once, she left things here. I just remember thinking, for a journalist, she was pretty forgetful.
Eric: So she could come back inside and get them. Was she ever here alone?
Daniel: Eh, once that I know of. Or so she thought--Nicole was here, and then she and Nicole went at it.
Eric: Right, right, right, I remember.
Daniel: Okay, what is this all about?
Eric: Listen, I don't want to get into details just yet--
Daniel: Look, I'm just not trying to gossip, I'm just trying to help--
Eric: Listen, I know, but there is one thing you can do for me.
Daniel: Name it.
Eric: Do you remember the elephant statue I gave parker? Can I see it, and the compartment you found inside of it?
Daniel: Yeah, yeah. This is it, right here, and that is the compartment.
Eric: Whatever was inside of it couldn't have been that big.
Daniel: Oh, do you think she talked her way in here to find that statue and whatever was in it? Why? Man, I don't mean to pry. I just want to know how Serena fits into this.
Serena: I'm not playing your mind games. Tell me why you're here.
Xander: Today's the day I start tying up all the loose ends in my life. Every one of them. Starting with you.
Eric: I don't want to speculate about Serena.
Daniel: Okay, I get that.
Eric: Listen, can I keep this?
Daniel: Yeah, sure, parker's into action figures now. Look, I know you don't want to talk about this, but dealing with this alone isn't the best idea.
Eric: Listen, I honestly don't want to discuss this with you. Respect that, please. Daniel, the only reason I brought this up to you is because you're my good friend.
Daniel: But we'll keep in touch?
Daniel: All right.
Daniel: Yeah, yeah.
Xander: Yuck. I hate coconut.
Serena: What do you want with me?
Xander: You act like I'm gonna hurt you or something. I just came to say good-bye. You are still going, right, even without the good father?
Serena: And, Xander... Eric doesn't know anything about the diamonds. He doesn't know anything that could come back on you. I made sure of that.
Xander: I guess keeping things from him didn't work out very well for you, huh?
Serena: No. But he still has no idea what I've done for you.
Xander: Then why do you look so worried?
Serena: I'm not worried, Xander. I am trying to keep myself from throwing things at you. I did everything that you wanted me to do and still you sent that picture of us to me. You've ruined everything with me and Eric.
Xander: You'll bounce back. You did last time Eric dumped you, right? You bounced right into the sack with me.
Serena: You're disgusting.
Xander: Come on, Serena. We both know what you are. There's no way you'd ever be satisfied with a guy like Eric. You need a real man.
Serena: You wouldn't happen to know where any real men are, would you?
Xander: [Chuckles] I do not... I do not like being insulted by a woman.
Serena: What woman has got you so mad? 'Cause we both know it's not me. It's Nicole, isn't it?
Nicole: (Scottish accent) This is Miss Brodie.
Sorry, I didn't get the name.
Nicole: Brodie. I'm a paralegal, from the law firm of Connery, Moore, and Dalton. I seem to be having a bit of a problem here.
I'm having trouble understanding you. What part of Scotland are you from?
Nicole: What part? I spent a bit of time in the States. My mother's American.
Oh, I see. I just got back from New York myself.
Nicole: Ah, New Yorkers. They're a cheeky lot.
That's the god's honest truth. What can I help you with, Miss Brodie?
Nicole: Well, my boss, Mr. Connery, he's in court right now, he just rang. He needs me to look up a case to give to the judge as a precedent.
What case was it?
Nicole: Ah, "The Crown Office V. Alexandros Kiriakis." I can spell the name if you need it. Mr. Connery was the lead defense lawyer.
I'm looking for it right now. You know, I used to work for Angus Dalton at your office.
Nicole: Oh, really?
A nasty article, that one.
Nicole: I'm terrified of the man. I just started today, and I'm afraid if I don't get access to the case, it'll be my last.
I told you, it's right there.
Nicole: But I need a password.
Your office can give you that.
Nicole: They already did. I was so nervous I didn't write it down, and I know you're not supposed to give it out over the phone. I have three wee bairns to feed. I really need this job.
Give me an email address, and I'll send it to you.
Nicole: Oh, thank you. It's Nicole@zipmail.com.
Your server's in the States?
Nicole: I-I went to college there.
I never met a Nicole Brodie before.
Nicole: The name was my mother's idea.
There, I just sent it.
Nicole: I owe you my life. Thank you. My three wee bairns thank you, too. "Wee bairns"? What movie is that from? Oh... there it is. Okay, please let this work. I'm in! It's true. Xander was charged with murder, but the sentence was reduced to "culpable homicide"? Well, how much time did he get? What? That's it? For killing someone? Why? Oh... oh, my god.
Maggie: I don't understand, Victor. Xander's your late brother's son.
Victor: He's no good. He's worn out his welcome here and he knows it. He's leaving town.
Maggie: Well, I know there's a lot that you're not telling me, but I'm gonna let it go.
Victor: Good. The sooner we forget about Xander, the better.
Maggie: Brady called. The official word from the doctor: The baby's coming home tomorrow. Is that why you're so down?
Victor: No, it's not the baby. Just can't get over the fact that Theresa Donovan is gonna be the mother of a Kiriakis.
Maggie: I know. Melanie's all alone, and Theresa's a part of the family. It just isn't right.
Victor: Well, mark my word, Theresa's not gonna be satisfied with just getting rid of Melanie.
Maggie: What kind of a mother is she going to be?
Victor: [Chuckles] Mother from hell. She's going to use that baby to suck every dollar she can out of Brady, and suck the life out of him in the process.
Brady: Is this all you've-- is this all you've done?
Theresa: Yeah, well--I mean, I've ordered a couple more things online that haven't arrived yet. And you know what? I've been at the hospital a lot too, in case it slipped your mind.
Brady: Theresa, there is no way that you're ready to take care of an infant here.
Theresa: Yeah, I know that, Brady, but I didn't have nine months to prepare, okay? I had-- I didn't get to read books. I didn't have a baby shower. And in case you forgot, your psycho ex-girlfriend had my baby taken out of me.
Brady: I didn't--I didn't forget, all right? I know. I don't like it any more than you do.
Theresa: You know what? I have to do this all on my own. Okay, I don't have some staff that I can just order around to help me set up a nursery the way you can. I mean-- what-- Tate's not even gonna have his own room here. I know that that's not what you're used to, okay? And I'm sure that you don't want your son living in a dump like this, but... I just-- I know. Even part-time, this is just horrible.
Brady: What do you want?
Theresa: Do you remember how you said that I could move into your grandfather Victor's house? Look, I'm not thrilled about it, okay, but I suppose that I could put up with it for Tate's sake. I mean, maybe it's best for our son if we're in the same place.
Brady: I'm sorry. It's never gonna happen.
Theresa: I-I don't understand. You said--
Brady: I know what I said. I made that offer when things were different, all right?
Theresa: You mean when Melanie was still in the picture.
Brady: I thought it over, Theresa. There's no way you're gonna be able to live in my grandfather's house. He's not gonna put up with that. And Maggie will back him up, and I think you know why.
Theresa: But he's your kid, Brady. I mean, yes, I get that Victor and Maggie are his great-grandparents, but I'm sure that they would suck it up and learn to deal with it if that's really what you wanted.
Brady: Listen to me. Do you really want to sit in that living room and have to stare at that fireplace poker that you used to try to kill my father with, hmm? I didn't think so. Theresa, make no mistake. Do not use my son to try to get what you want from me. Is that clear?
Theresa: Yeah. Crystal clear.
Brady: There are plenty of parents who share custody that don't live together. My suggestion to you is that you get a bigger place. You need a bigger apartment, someplace with a yard, so Tate can also have his own room. Now if you need help with the rent, I'm more than happy to do that, but I want approval of the place. I'm more than happy to help you with a nanny and babysitters, 'cause frankly, the thought of you alone with my son scares the hell out of me. But make no mistake as well, every cent that I give you is going towards my son.
Theresa: How dare you make this about money?
Brady: It's always been about money with you, Donovan!
Theresa: I have a job, remember? Okay, so if I need financial help, I can get it from my mom and dad, thanks.
Brady: Fine, you do that. Listen, okay, so we're gonna have to talk to the pediatrician about what Tate's needs are, medically, here at home, okay? We're also gonna have to go to the hospital and pick him up. We're gonna see each other then. Other than that, I think we can communicate through email. I think that's fine.
Brady: Unless there's some kind of emergency. So now that that's covered, you and I need to shift our focus on how we, two people that can't stand each other, are going to successfully share custody of a child.
Maggie: I don't like Theresa any better than you do, but for the baby's sake, I think we ought to ask Brady how he wants us to treat her.
Victor: Being able to draw strength and clarity from being such a loving woman.
Maggie: Sometimes it's a drag. I know how much you love Brady, and I know how hard it is for you to let Brady fight his own battles.
Victor: Well, I promised to take care of him.
Maggie: Yeah, but he can take care of himself now, Victor. You have to let him do it.
Victor: All right, all right.
Maggie: But I do want you to know how impressed I am by the fact that you would do anything to take care of a member of your family.
Nicole: Well, I'll be damned. Xander's sentence was reduced due to the influence of a letter from a friend of the court. His uncle, Victor Kiriakis. Since when is Victor Kiriakis a friend of any court? So if Victor helped him, that means Victor knows what Xander's all about. Damn.
[Cell phone rings]
Nicole: Oh! [Groans] Oh... Daniel, hi.
Daniel: Hey, I'm off-duty and Chloe has parker, so if you want to talk, tonight is a good night. What do you say?
Nicole: I say yes. I'm dying to see you.
Daniel: I have to drop a baby gift off for Brady's son, but then I'll pick you up, or do you want to--want to meet me here?
Nicole: Well, I can meet you at Victor's place.
Nicole: Yeah, I have a baby gift, too. I can be there in an hour.
Daniel: You sure you can face Victor?
Nicole: Actually, I'm kind of looking forward to it.
Daniel: You know what I'm looking forward to? Clearing the air.
Nicole: I know, I have a lot of explaining to do, and I will, the minute I see you at Victor's.
Daniel: Don't make me wait.
Nicole: I wouldn't think of it. I can't believe it. Everything's finally going my way.
Xander: You think I give a damn what Nicole thinks?
Serena: Yeah, I do.
Xander: No, I'm done with her.
Serena: Really? Not getting that.
Xander: You were right. She was playing me, and even if she wasn't, what do I want with Daniel Jonas's used merchandise?
Serena: Wow, that's a real 180.
Xander: I don't have to explain myself to you or anybody else. My business is done in this town. I, too, am leaving Salem, so this is good-bye, but who knows? Maybe our paths will cross again.
Serena: Right. In hell.
Xander: It's good to see you finally admit that down deep, you're a very naughty girl. Oh, just so you know... you and Eric have nothing to fear from me, as long as you keep your mouths shut.
Serena: [Exhales] Oh, my god. Okay. Well, at least that bastard's out of my life. I can--
[Knock at door]
Serena: God, I don't believe him. Dammit, Xander, what more do you want?
Eric: Lovers' quarrel?
Brady: Look, I'm sure we can work out when we each get to see Tate. The problem is gonna be the picking up and dropping off.
Theresa: How is that a problem?
Brady: Because I want everything arranged in advance. No surprises.
Theresa: I guess these arrangements will be done by email, too?
Brady: I think that'd be best, yeah.
Theresa: So... basically you want to see me as little as possible, and maybe not at all?
Brady: Hopefully, yeah.
Theresa: So that's how this is gonna go?
Brady: That is how this is gonna go.
Maggie: I know how much you miss Melanie--just as much as I do--but in spite of it all, you seem better. Happier?
Daniel: Yeah, Nicole and I, you know, we're working it out.
Victor: Somebody tell me I'm hearing things.
Serena: Please... come in.
Eric: Not if you're expecting Xander.
Serena: No, I'm not expecting him. I never want to lay eyes on him.
Eric: Could you not lie to me again? I just saw him leaving and I heard you call his name.
Serena: I'm not--I'm not lying. He showed up here uninvited. I was afraid that he might have come back. Look, I know how disgusted you are about me and him. It's over. It's been over for a really long time. There's nothing else to talk about.
Eric: Oh, really? Well, maybe we can talk about this. You actually don't have to say anything because I figured it all out.
Serena: Well, unfortunately, there's no time. I have to leave to catch a flight.
Eric: Yeah? Well, you're gonna have to call the cops to get rid of me. You may not have any interest in what I have to say, but I think my dad will be.
Nicole: I know Xander's probably still having me followed. But who cares? Let whoever it is try to get past the front door at Victor's.
Sally: It's quitting time, girl. What are you still doing in here?
Nicole: Oh, just finishing up some research.
Sally: Better pack it in. You're about the last one left in the building. And be careful when you leave. Something knocked out the lights at the front entrance.
Navidad: The power to the front entrance of the TV station is out.
Xander: What about the security guard?
Navidad: I put something in his sandwich. He won't be a problem.
Xander: Is Nicole still there? She told me she'd be working late.
Navidad: She's still there.
Xander: Good. Daddy gator couldn't push the throttle
Theresa: So, you and me, never speaking, not even trying to see each other, not even trying to get along, you really think that's what's best for the baby?
Brady: No, it's not ideal, Theresa, it's not. But nothing about this situation is ideal. I'm actually doing this for you.
Theresa: What? How is not speaking to me best for me? How are you doing that for me?
Brady: I don't think it's a good idea for Tate... to know that I think his mother is the lowest form of humanity.
Theresa: You know what? Being a mother, it's really changed me.
Brady: I hope so. It had better, 'cause this is not a game anymore, Theresa. There's a little, tiny baby involved now. You understand that?
Theresa: Yes ,and we can make this work, okay? It doesn't have to be tense.
Brady: We can't--that's not gonna work. I'm tense right now, right in front of you. I want to strangle you. And kids pick up on those things. They're like sponges. I'm doing what I think is best for my son, period.
Theresa: No. This is about Melanie leaving, isn't it?
Brady: You're damn right it is.
Sally: Everybody has to go out the back way until the power comes back on.
Nicole: Why? There's a security guard out there.
Sally: He got sick and had to leave early. You want me to wait for you? We can get a drink.
Nicole: Oh, thanks, but I have a date.
Sally: Okay. See you tomorrow.
Nicole: Sure. And hopefully by then, things will be a lot different.
Maggie: I'm gonna take this up to the baby's room. You ought to see it. It's so beautiful!
Victor: She's knocked herself out getting it ready. Didn't even have time for lunch.
Maggie: I'm fine.
Daniel: Okay, you don't have to leave, 'cause I'm--
Maggie: Oh, yes, I do. You two, talk.
Victor: There is something I want to say to you.
Daniel: I'm sure there is.
Victor: You know that I love you and I only want what's best for you.
Daniel: Okay, Victor--
Victor: Just hear me out. My plate is already full, getting used to the idea that Theresa's in my life, so if you want to be with Nicole, you're not going to have any problem with me.
Daniel: Not exactly giving us your blessing, but I'll settle for it anyway. And you'll have the opportunity to tell Nicole the same thing, because she is meeting me right here.
Victor: No. Thank god I've got a meeting I'm already late for. There is something, though, that I want to discuss with you, and I'd rather do it before Nicole gets here.
Daniel: What is it?
Eric: I know what you and Xander were up to. It was this.
Serena: Eric, I told you last night, I don't know anything.
Eric: No, Serena, let me tell you what I know, because I remembered something. When you showed up in Salem, and you walked into the pub, you said you wanted to talk to me privately... at my apartment! But it wasn't about being alone with me. It was about this. From day one, it's always been about getting your hands on this.
Serena: No, that's not true.
Eric: And all that time you showed interest in my African artifacts that I collected was about this, too. You told me you lost yours in the move. You told me Nicole was lying when she said she saw you holding two elephant statues in your hand.
Serena: Are you gonna take Nicole's word over mine?
Eric: Yes, I am. She hasn't been lying to me like you have. That's why you came here, to swap these two out, but what happened, huh? Did you accidentally grab the wrong one before you left Africa? You were pretty desperate to get your hands back on it, because you even slept with me.
Serena: Eric, don't, don't--
Eric: And then when you found out that it was at Daniel's apartment, you came up with every reason in the book to go there! It was so obvious. I don't know why I didn't catch on to it. But it looks like you came and got what you wanted, and I think I deserve to know what that was! You think she bailed? She didn't bail and you used our
Theresa: I knew you'd blame me because Melanie bailed.
Brady: Bailed? You think she bailed? She didn't bail and you used our baby to force her out of my life!
Theresa: I didn't tell her to take off.
Brady: Yes, you did, Theresa! And now you get to deal with the fact that I'm never gonna forgive you for it.
Theresa: Okay, Brady, I get that you're mad--
Brady: Mad? You think I'm mad? "Mad" doesn't even scratch the surface, okay? I'm doing what I'm doing because I don't want my son to know that the sight of his mother disgusts me. I'm gonna go spend some time with my son. I hope you have the decency not to come by the hospital until I'm gone.
Eric: You certainly don't have to tell me...because I figured it out. I mean, it took me a while, but I did. You know, then it hit me. It's too small for drugs or cash, but then I realized that you and Xander, you worked together in the Congo, and that there were certain people who became very, very rich trading in blood diamonds. Oh, Serena, please tell me. So what does Xander do with the diamonds, Serena? Does he finance an insurgency? A warlord's bloodbath? Listen, it looks like you got what you came for, so I think I deserve to know why you used me!
Serena: I love you. I love you. I never stopped loving you. That is why I can't explain any of this to you.
Eric: I have a right to understand.
Serena: If I make you understand... you'll end up dead.
Victor: Xander's leaving Salem.
Victor: Maybe tonight.
Daniel: So you're saying, after tonight...
Victor: No one will have to worry about Xander cook in this town again.
