Xander, what are you doing?

Xander: Are you following me?

Actually, I was-- I don't know what your deal is, but now is not a good time to talk.

[Footsteps approach]

Daniel! Man, it is so good to see you! Wow, man! I mean, it's been a long time. - Yeah. - It's me. Alexander. - Yeah! Yeah, man! - I go by Xander now. All right. All right. Well, good to see you again, Xander. Man. You... you two know each other? Oh, yeah. You could never forget Daniel. Theresa saw Nicole with another guy. She wanted to make sure Daniel knew about it. And the way she was describing him, it almost sounded as if she was talking about-- Xander. Right. Damn it. Why did she have to meet him of all people? Are you worried about Daniel's reaction?

No, Eric, I'm worried about you.

[Knocks on door]

Happy spring, JJ--oh!

[Both chuckle]

[Knock at door]

[Sighs] Why in the hell do you have that coat? - Go away. - Yeah? Do you want a souvenir of the worst thing that ever happened to me? Now just tell me, eve. What are you trying to pull now? Oh. Well, looks who's here instead of at work. What malady is it this time?

[Sobbing] Oh, Theresa. Honey, what-- listen, I have to tell you something about Theresa and Kristen-- no, no, no, no. Listen to me. Listen to me, Melanie. We are taking off. We are gonna have some time together. We're gonna have some time together alone. It's gonna be great, and I don't want to waste any more time talking about those two women. - Okay, Brady, but I have to-- - no, there's no buts. There's no buts. Kristen's gone. In hell probably. Just had it out with Theresa, so that's over and done with-- - no, they're not-- - and I don't wanna talk-- Brady, hey! They're not done with you yet. It's okay, my love. Everything's gonna be fine. Mommy's gonna make sure that everything's fine. (Mandrake) I have the results. Everything's gonna work out fine for your son. Oh, god, thank you. One of his biological parents is a match. Which one?

This is just a guess, but I don't believe whatever's in that tin is for me. Um, there's a little kitchen in our dorm, and I just made JJ some cookies. That's so sweet. Yeah, my 10:00 class was canceled. JJ said he'd be here studying. Is he-- he's not. I'm sorry. It's just me. I had to bring some reports to Jennifer-- um, do you know where JJ is? I told you to never show your face here again, JJ. Well, it didn't occur to me I had to tell you to never swipe evidence of what we did. Okay, get out of here! You know what? Shut up and answer my question. Now. Why did you have the coat? The one I borrowed from Daniel? The one I had on that night? Why, damn it? Why? You don't have to worry about me. Yes, Nicole can be a bit crazy. But whatever is going on with all of them, it has nothing to do with me. I'm not gonna try and fix it with Daniel, and I'm definitely not getting involved with Xander. Great. That's not it. That's all there is. Serena, you gotta let it roll off of you. This has nothing to do with you either. I've been patient with you, Serena, paid you well for everything you've done for me. I expect you to deliver what you promised. I'll try to get the diamonds by the end of the day. You do that. Serena, something's really bothering you, isn't it? It's not about me and Nicole, is it? No, I know that you're over her. It's--it's something else. So how do you two know each other? Xander is Victor's nephew. How nice for you. Yeah, yeah. Brady, Xander, and myself, we spent a summer at Victor's estate on one of his Greek islands. Yeah. So what are you doing here in Salem? You visiting Victor? No, no, it's just a coincidence. I have business here. But I did run into Brady and I was hoping to see you before I left. Uncle Victor said you'd moved here. Yeah, yeah, I've been here for a while now, yeah. Uh, well, I'm gonna go and let you two catch up. As always, I enjoyed bumping into you, Nicole. "Nicole"? So you know each other? - Barely. - Wait a minute. The other day at TBD, you're the one she spilled the coffee on, right? Yeah. No, she told me all about that.

[Sighs] So Brady's not a match. It's Theresa. That's right. I've been thinking about how to proceed and-- that won't be necessary. I've already thought about all possible contingencies. 'Cause that's what a good mommy does, huh, sweetheart? In fact, this is absolutely the best scenario. So much simpler than having to go to Christopher's father. I know exactly what needs to be done. In fact, I've already set the wheels in motion. God, for the love of god... - can we just drop this, please?

I can't, believe me.

I wanna drop this. I can't. Not until I tell you what I have to tell you. And I wish that this weren't true, because it's gonna be hard to hear, and you're gonna think I'm crazy, and you probably-- I don't think you're-- just, Melanie, just tell me. I think you have a child out there with Theresa.

It's a simple question. What's bothering you? Melanie. You know, she's got something going on, and... it's really got her upset. But she's too busy to talk, and... I really wanted to be there to help. I know the feeling. You know, I'm worried about Daniel. I think the Nicole and Xander thing is gonna upset him. You know, Melanie's my friend, and Daniel's your friend. I think I just came up with a really great idea, if you're up for it. You were there? I didn't see you. No, you were probably in a hurry to change your shirt. But Nicole said you were nice about it. Yeah, didn't you? He was. Well, it's hard not to be nice to somebody as charming as Nicole. Yeah, she's a friendly gal. Wait, am I... am I missing something here? Oh, um, Daniel, I'm sorry. I...

[Sighs] Well, no messages from JJ. Well, I'm sure he'll be here soon. I need to tell you, though, he's over the moon that the two of you are back together. Me too actually. Oh, and I wanted to say I'm sorry I couldn't help out at the clothing drive. That was a crazy day for me. But you did. You helped out ahead of time. Um, so everything went okay? Oh, it was a resounding success. Big crowd. Your mom showed up. My mom? Yeah, she showed up with your aunt Theresa, volunteered to help. Yeah, that's her, always doing for others. Well, you said that, not me. Yeah. Um, so it was a good day? Almost perfect. You know, sometimes I just don't understand people. - What do you mean? - Well, it was for charity. And nothing cost very much. And I just can't believe that people would steal something from a charity drive. I don't even know what you're talking about, JJ. Yes, you do. Daniel's coat. The one I had on the first night I came over here. I think you would remember that night. We were in bed together and Paige just showed up. - Does it ring a bell? - Smug little... oh, you know, let's skip over how much we hate each other and talk about Paige. Paige who found that coat in that closet. Paige who knows that coat belongs to the dude in your bed. Okay! Enough already. I handled it, all right? What? I... I told Paige that I wasn't seeing the guy anymore, I didn't know the coat was here, and that I was going to get rid of it. So crisis averted. So why don't you just get the hell out-- you know what? You can lie to her! You can't lie to me! Why was the coat in the closet? Either you swiped it from the charity drive or you just went out and got one that looked just like it. And I want to know why! Melanie, that is crazy. I know. I know, but can you-- can I just ask--can I beg that you just listen to me, please, and let me explain? Okay. Okay. Do you remember when I first met Theresa and she had just had that pregnancy scare and even you thought it was true? Yeah, only it wasn't. And there are medical tests to prove it. Okay, right. But I need you to... look at this. That. And what is this, Melanie? Look at it. That's... that's proof that Theresa was pregnant.

[Sobbing] Honey, what's wrong? Everyone hates me! Yeah, but why are you crying? Because I just said, everyone hates me! Yes, but this is not exactly new information, Theresa. It's nothing you've ever cared about before. Yeah, I know. I don't care what anybody thinks. I just-- - but Brady... - oh! Oh, god! Here we go again. Anne, he acted like he was so nice, like maybe he even cared a little bit. And then... he said that... he said that I disgust him. So then I let him have it, and-- yeah, you let him have it and then you're upset that he hates you. What? But he thinks that I'm a liar. Because you lie. Well, not about everything, not all the time. Theresa, you lied about whacking his father in the head with a fireplace poker. I mean, come on. This is not a little fib like, "oh, there's a dent in a fender." Yeah, I know, but-- fine, look, I lied, okay? And I said-- I've done terrible lies. But I didn't lie about the baby, Anne. I really, really thought that I was pregnant. Christopher's doing very well. There's no immediate crisis. I know. But I'm his mother and I'm not taking any chances. We're moving ahead ASAP.

[Footsteps approach]

Ms. DiMera, I got here as soon as I could. How are you? Are you tired? You exhausted? You have jet lag?

Nah, I'm fine. You wanted something? Yes. I wanted to tell you what a great job you did in Salem. Are you ready for redeployment? You want me to go back? (Kristen) mm-hmm. You did a great job. What matters now is what you will do. We need to finish the job once and for all.

Shoplifting at a charity drive? That's pretty lowlife. That's a good word for it. Listen, I gotta run. I have to see if Daniel can spare a few minutes of his precious time. Yeah, I'll go with you. I have to get ready for my next class. - Okay. - Yeah. So any idea who that thief was? No, but I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of it.

[Both chuckle]

I don't have to explain myself to you, JJ.

JJ: Yeah, you're right. No, I know what's going on. Really? Yeah, I don't get it at all, but I think that somehow, someway, you're planning to use that coat to take me out. What? You were planning to set me up so you could screw things up for me and Paige. And you were gonna use that coat to do it. I... I didn't realize. I'm so sorry if I came on too strong. I should've listened when you said you were seeing someone. Not that there was any big deal. We just--we just had coffee. Yeah, it was just coffee. Well, I need to be going. I'll be in town for a few more days, and I'd love to see the whole family while I'm here, so hopefully we'll see each other again. I'm at the Salem inn. Right. Maybe I can just grab one of your business cards. Ah, yes. - Yeah. - Ah, cheers. I'll be in touch. Nicole. Wow! Talk about six degrees of separation. You know Xander.

[Soft chuckle] That's--that's kind of unreal. Yeah, yeah, I know him a little from that summer, but I haven't seen him since I was a kid. So why don't you fill me in on him? So Daniel and Nicole are going through a rough patch. Why don't we help them out? I mean, Daniel's a nice guy. He would do the same thing for us, right? We could, um-- we could go over there, cheer them up, maybe surprise them with dinner or even lunch if Daniel gets off early. And I could cook. It would totally be fun. Well, wouldn't it be better just to ask them to come over here? No! Okay, this is--this is maybe gonna make you a little mad, but I took Theresa's plasma and I had it double-checked at the lab. - What? You-- - my friend Greg works there. This is all completely confidential. Oh, my god. Stop. Stop. Stop. How did you get samples? They keep the plasma in the blood bank at the hospital. - Your friend Jorge? - Yeah. He obviously didn't know what I was doing either, but it's all on his computer, if you need to double-check it. Melanie, this is so-- this is obsessive, okay? If you stole plasma, the first thing we need is an attorney. You're gonna be in big trouble. No, listen, Brady, you're-- stop! Listen and focus on what's in front of you! - I'm trying, Mel. - Yes, I've been obsessive. I've been obsessed with this! But I've been through this whole thing with a fine-tooth comb, and it's 100% accurate, so if you just please listen to me and let me explain, I promise--I promise you will believe me. Now, I know it sounds very scary-- severe combined immunodeficiency-- but it's curable. Theresa Donovan is a perfect match. So once Christopher has his bone marrow transplant, he's gonna be just as healthy as any other baby boy. He can't travel, so the procedure has to be done here. As I keep saying, we do have some time. Time to locate a more compatible donor. - I already have-- - I told you no! I'm telling you, going back to Salem is too dangerous. There's already some suspicion. You don't seem to understand. The only thing I'm interested in hearing coming out of that mouth are medical facts. Theresa is a perfect match. Clint's already proven he's capable of handling difficult assignments. Is Theresa still in Salem? There's one way to find out. All I tried to do was to give Daniel a friendly heads-up, and suddenly I'm the bad guy? And I'm sorry, but Melanie Jonas is unstable. - Mm-hmm. - You know? And Brady is fooling himself if he thinks he's gonna be happy with her. - Yeah. - Melanie? She is all about Melanie. Oh, yeah. She is not selfless like you.

[Phone rings]

[Sighs] Oh, that must be Brady. It's gotta be.

How do you know?

Because he's had some time to think about it, and now Brady wants to apologize.

Damn it! Where is my phone?

[Ringing continues]

Damn it. Where the hell is she?

[Phone ringing]

Yeah, that is not Brady, okay? Look. - Give me that! - It says, "unknown caller." Give it to me! Hello? Brady, remember, you told me that Theresa seemed genuinely shocked when Kayla told her she wasn't pregnant. So why would see have all of those tests if she didn't really think she was pregnant? Because she thought she was, but she was wrong, Melanie. Okay, but do you remember after that, she had all those weird mood swings? Like she completely fell apart when she saw that baby rattle, and she freaked out at me when I asked her if she had ever had a baby. Okay, look, Melanie, maybe, maybe. Maybe she was pregnant. All that means is she didn't realize that she had a miscarriage before Kayla tested her. I mean, come on. Come on. She didn't try to avoid me by any means. She didn't leave town. How could she carry a baby in secret and then give birth to a baby in secret and then keep the baby hidden from everyone, go on with her life? And it--it doesn't make any sense at all. Except that it does if you consider the fact that somebody knocked you out, took your blood, and then turned around and did the same thing to Theresa. Oh, you want to know all about Xander? Okay, well, he likes his coffee black. He likes ladies and strong coffee. That's all I know about him. You know what, Daniel, I came here to clear the air, and there's really not a whole lot of air to clear. So what? I spilled some coffee on him. And he was charming about it. And he knew how to treat a lady. Your words. Uh...[Groans] I was mad. Okay, we haven't exactly been getting along like a house on fire. I don't even actually know what that means. Nobody does. And you're right. You're right. We weren't really getting along. And I admit... it's partly my fault. No. And I'm sorry that I didn't take it too well that you were seeing someone else. Having coffee with someone else. And I had to find out from Theresa. Which was all kinds of embarrassing, I'm sure. No, it's more than that. I-I felt like it was-- like it was payback. You and I, we have a run-in. You get mad, you storm off, and then a couple minutes later, Theresa tells me you went from me to another guy. Well, it didn't have to be a run-in. You know, I can tell that you were upset. But, of course, you know, you wouldn't tell me anything. You shut me out. You won't tell me about Brady, about Jennifer, about anything. Okay, there's a reason for that. It's because I don't trust you. Sorry. That came out stronger than I meant. Yeah, it seemed pretty intense. It's just I wanted to do it over at Daniel's because then Melanie could join us. Well, Melanie can come over here. It's just a feel a bit uncomfortable inviting ourselves over. You're right. It's probably too last-minute anyway. I'll, um--next time I talk to Melanie, I'll just ask everyone over. Okay. Well, do you still want to cook or should we go out? Uh, let me get back to you on that. I just remembered I have something I have to do. Was it something I said? Don't be silly. I'm sorry. See you soon. Um... what was all that about? JJ, your mother has slammed home the point, ad nauseam, that if you go down, I go down. You say that, but I know you don't want me with Paige. Oh, my god, you're right! I don't. But it doesn't mean I would do something stupid. Like swiping that coat doesn't define stupid. Okay, you know what? You need to get the hell out of my house! Now? Can I at least put my shoes on?

Well, this is a surprise. Thought you were studying. I-I thought I should get some things straight with your mom. Did you? You don't trust me? And it's not because you went and had coffee with another man. What, are you still hung up on that one mistake I made with Eric? No, it isn't just one mistake! God, once and for all, Daniel! I am over him! Okay, you know what? I'm not so sure you didn't move on to me just because this thing with Eric blew up in your face. What? That is so not true! Just--and then you got out with--with--with Xander? 'Cause we had a fight? You know, you move so quickly from one man to the next. You do. You do. I'm not--you know what it is? I think you're afraid not to have a man in your life. And it makes me think-- it makes me think everything that I worry about with you is right on the money.

[Knock at door]

Maggie: Daniel, are you busy? - Mom. - Oh, Nicole. Hey. Um, am I interrupting anything? No, we're done here. Your timing, Maggie, as usual, is perfect. (Xander) you're seeing someone, got it. But it was lovely to get at least a little time with you. Oh, well, thanks for the coffee. I hope to hear from you soon about... that other thing. So, Daniel, looks like I'm poaching on your territory.

[Phone beeps]

Finally. So it just kept nagging at me that you were at Victor's house with one priceless thing after the other all around you. The watch you were wearing at the time was worth, like, a small fortune in and of itself. But the guy who attacked you just took a little bit of money and your blood, which means, obviously, he just wanted your blood. What did you mean when you said they took Theresa's too? Okay, I'll circle back to that. After we got you back from the hospital, I went over to Theresa's to set her straight, and her idiot boyfriend was there. But I don't think he wanted to be there because he was trying to get out, and I ran into him and he dropped his backpack and a bunch of vials of blood came out. What? - Are you-- - yeah, no. There's more. Um, after he left, I went to go take care of Theresa and I saw she had the same puncture wound you did, which means Clint took her blood just like he took yours. Right. Moving on. So this Dr. Mandrake guy is a world-renowned fertility specialist, but he still managed to have a pretty sketchy reputation. Here, obviously, is Dr. Mandrake with Theresa's soul mate Clint. What? Why would this guy want our blood? Okay. I think that Theresa thought she was pregnant because she really was pregnant. And it's like somebody came and took her baby without her even knowing.

[Scoffs] Come on. Come on. - That's not possible. - Right? But it also wasn't possible for your dad to wake up from a coma. Who made that happen? Kristen. Nah, it's okay. I put a find-your-phone tracker on her cell before I left town. She's in the Horton town square. Oh. Probably pulling the wings off of flies. You think of everything, don't you? It's my job.

[Chuckles] It is, isn't it? Now on to what needs to be done. That was not Brady. And whoever it was went running for the hills as soon as they heard your voice. You are not helping! Honey, I am all you got. Yeah, well, that may be. But you know what? I don't need you if you're gonna be like this. You know, I don't need anybody in this pathetic town! You know, screw Salem and everybody in it! And that pathetic judge back in California. The one that said you need to stay here or go to jail? I don't care. I'm gonna leave this dump. Theresa, you don't have any money, which reminds me, you need to get back to work. Don't tell me what to do. You know what? And don't be surprised if I don't show up in that stupid hospital ever again, Anne! So look at it this way. You're gonna get lots and lots and lots of frequent flyer miles. You know where Theresa is. Go get her.

Honey, we are certainly trying-- we're trying to get past everything and learn to get along. Oh, is that why you were so mad when you opened the door just now? Well, news flash: I am not perfect and I have a temper. You know that. But JJ and I are hoping that we can have two steps forward with one step back. And what you just witnessed was one step back, but-- and this is a big but-- honey, you are the most important thing here. So JJ and I are gonna continue to try to get along and work this out.

Eve: Okay? Yeah, well, try not to kill each other in the process. Um, I have to get some notes from my room. You know, sweetheart, if you moved back here, everything would be in the same place. (Paige) mmm. Nice try. You know, I didn't think you'd be here. Did you forget about that meeting at my school? Oh, no, no, no. I was actually on my way out when JJ showed up. - All right. - Yeah.

[Sighs] We are not done. Oh, the hell we're not. I don't ever want to be alone with you again, all right? Here or anywhere. Never! I can't do this. Unfortunately, there's more. About Kristen? Not exactly, but I think you'll see the connection here. Dr. Mandrake has been getting paid as a consultant by a phony company that's very illegal looking. And that kind of screams "DiMera." Well, yeah, that's their M.O., But come-- that's insane, right? I mean, Theresa's not stupid. - She would know that-- - of course not. No--well, but, listen. You didn't know that someone took your blood and she didn't either. I mean, obviously these people know what they're doing. Look, Kristen, she's crazy. God knows what she's capable of. But I--she would not-- Brady? What is it? You need to think this through. - I have. - Really? I think we've already over-played our hand. The cops still haven't closed the Kiriakis case. You know, when it comes to the Salem P.D., we are protected by the enormity of their stupidity. We cannot afford to be arrogant. Ah, don't get your knickers in a knot. I cleared out that guy's wallet. They all think it was a simple mugging. And I know just how to handle Theresa. Trust me. No one's going to miss her. No one ever has. No one ever will. Oh, god, not today. You, hey! What is wrong with you? Don't you have anything better to do than run around Salem, ruining other people's lives? Just go away, Nicole. No, you go away. Nobody likes you. Truth hurts, doesn't it? You want to talk to me about the truth? You know what? I know that Daniel is a self-righteous pain in the ass, but even he deserves to know the truth-- that the woman he's seeing is two-timing him. - Oh, you little tramp.

Eric: Okay. Hey, hey. Go to your neutral corners. You think the two of you could, like, grow up? You know what, I'm done. Why do you do this, Theresa? I haven't done anything, Eric. No one believes me, but that's the truth, okay? I haven't done anything. I wonder if you happened to notice Nicole's a little upset. I don't want to talk about it. Me neither. I want to talk about Theresa and that scene that she created this morning. Well, that's all settled. So did Victor tell you that his nephew's in town? You're just trying to change the subject. Did Theresa... what did you just say? Victor's nephew Xander is here on business. He didn't tell you? No, he didn't. I haven't seen him since breakfast. How--how did you know? I just, uh, I just ran into him. You know him? Yeah, from when we were kids. He, Brady, and I spent a summer on Victor's island. - Really? - Mm-hmm. Tell me. What's he like? Let's go somewhere more private before you give me the diamonds. Xander, I... I don't-- I don't have them yet. I need another day or two-- aah! You're hurting me. I know.

You're upset. Yeah, well, I'm not stupid. I'm not deaf. I heard my mom telling you she never wants to talk to you again. Yeah. Yeah, she did. So she's not here. I don't want her whitewash. I want the truth. What were you fighting about? Paige, I love you. But I... I really think you need to know this. And I don't know how else to do it but to just tell you flat out. But your mother's lying to you. And so am I. You know, I was a little thrown when Xander picked up on that this wasn't the best time for our little reunion, so he left pretty quickly. He seemed very intuitive. And that surprised you? Well, it's completely different from how I remember him that summer. He's--well, he was... rough around the edges. How do you mean? Well, it's hard to describe. It was a while ago, and-- but my impression of Xander was he was kind of lost. Lost and in a way... dangerous. I keep telling you you're out of time, but it doesn't seem to sink in. I may have to drive home the point. - Xander-- - shut up. I will see you later today, at your place, privately. You will have the diamonds or you and Eric will face the consequences. Friend or your ex or whatever the hell she was to you, she's a total psycho. You know what, she thinks that I make trouble, but she destroys everything. Well, I'm glad to see you took that grow-up advice to heart. I have to go.

[Scoffs] Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for asking. Think about meditation, electric shock therapy. I heard that. And I am not a psycho.

You are. In fact, you're worse than I ever was or Sami ever was. And I hope you get everything you deserve. I think you heard what Ms. DiMera said. Don't you remember what a loose cannon Theresa Donovan is? I'll find another donor. I made my decision. I want my son cured and I want him cured as soon as possible. Theresa is a perfect donor. Clint has shown us that he's perfectly capable of doing what we ask of him and covering his tracks. Besides, it'll be so much fun to see Theresa again. What is it? You've made it very clear how you feel about me. But you know what? I'm always gonna have the memories of what we shared. And I'm always gonna have the dreams of what we could've had. I'm hanging up now. Do me a favor. Don't try to call me back 'cause I won't pick up. Kristen: Just one more thing. When I go... I'm going to be carrying a part of you inside of me. The very best part. I think you're right... about Kristen, about Theresa... and the baby.
