Episode #12548 ~ Kate & Stefano jockey for control at the DiMera board meeting; JJ takes part in a music showcase; Clint shows up, stunning Theresa; Brady asks Melanie about Europe.

Provided By Suzanne

Eve: [Scoffs] This is a disaster.

Jennifer: JJ and Paige being in the same musical showcase is hardly the end of the world.

Eve: No, no, no, no. JJ planned this, didn't he? He did. He planned this.

Jennifer: What? He had no idea -- Even if he did and this was part of his grand scheme to get Paige back, what are you going to do about it?

Eve: Nothing, because you've made it very clear that I have no say in what happens between Paige and JJ. Well, you know what, Jennifer? I don't have to like it. I'll see you there.

Jennifer: No, you won't 'cause you're not going near my son ever again.

JJ: I do love Paige. And I never stopped loving her, and I never will.

Theresa: Wow. You actually believe that, don't you? I mean, I might believe it, except I know you. And I know that you are not some lovesick puppy. You are the same plain old nasty dog who cheated on my niece with some skank, and you'll do it again.

JJ: I never regretted anything more in my life.

Theresa: Yeah, well, regret it all you want, but it doesn't mean you that it's going to stop you from doing it again. You know what, JJ? Paige, she is smarter than us, okay? She knows, and she sees that you are just a worthless piece of little trash, who--

Paige: Theresa! Shut up.

Melanie: [Sighs and laughs] Best-- best dinner break of my life.

Brady: [Laughs] You didn't even have any dinner.

Melanie: [Chuckles] Uh, dessert, then. Best dessert-- best dessert break.

Brady: Mm.

Melanie: What the hell were we thinking?

Brady: What do you mean?

Melanie: Why did we wait so long to do this?

Brady: It's risky business, you know. Falling in love with your best friend.

Melanie: Worth it, though, right?

Brady: Yeah. Totally worth it.

Victor: Welcome home!

Ciara: Thank you. Did you miss me?

Victor: Of course I did.

Ciara: I brought you back a souvenir from San Francisco.

Victor: Chocolates?

Ciara: No, an Al Capone bobblehead from Alcatraz.

Victor: [Laughs] Perfect:

Maggie: Thank you for bringing Ciara. It's already doing Victor a world of good.

Hope: Is everything all right?

Maggie: He just hasn't been himself lately.

Hope: What do you mean?

Maggie: He-- he seems-- Well, he seems depressed. Ever since Sonny got stabbed.

Abe: Why would a judge issue a stay on that warrant? No, nothing surprises me when it comes to Stefano DiMera.

Kate: Mr. Shin, we're ready to get started.

Stefano: I'm afraid Mr. Shin was unable to attend.

Kate: Stefano. What a lovely, lovely surprise. We're so pleased that you could join us.

Stefano: Thank you, Katerina. I must say, I mean, it's really good to be back.

Melanie: Why did I say I would cover Carla's shift again?

Brady: I know.

Melanie: That's gonna be torture.

Brady: You love your job. Come on.

Melanie: I do. I do love my job. I do, but, um, you're not there, and Theresa is.

Brady: Mm-hmm. Speaking of her...

Melanie: Yes.

Brady: You didn't get into it with her this afternoon, did you?

Melanie: No. No, I didn't. After you left, I managed to stay away from her. But I'm not really sure how long that luck is going to, uh, last.

Brady: Mm-hmm. Well, I hope I got through to her when I told her that she was off your radar and you were no longer going to dig into her past any more. And that's true, right? Right?

Melanie: Yeah--yes. Yes! I don't want to think about Theresa or Mandrake or that boyfriend-- her ex-- the weird guy she's with...

Brady: [Laughs] Oh, my God.

Melanie: Ever again.

Brady: Deal.

Melanie: Okay.

Clint: Dr. Mandrake. It's Clint. I just got back to Salem. Yeah, I know exactly what I have to do.

Paige: Theresa, you need to leave now.

Theresa: I was just trying to help.

Paige: You're not helping. Okay, please, just go.

Theresa: Fine, fine. Last time I try to do you a favor, prissy pants.

JJ: Paige, wait. You just stopped Theresa from badmouthing me. That must mean you don't completely hate me....right?

Chad: Father, you-- I had no idea you were-- you were gonna be here.

Stefano: Well, see, the last time I was unable to attend a meeting, I missed out on all the excitement. Hey? [Laughs] Now, I don't want to make the same mistake again. Hey!

Kate: Stefano, are you sure it's wise to be back in Salem? With your outstanding tax evasion charges?

Stefano: Minor misunderstanding.

Kate: One that could send you to prison for 10-15 years. But then, I'm sure you know what you're doing.

Stefano: Ah! Excuse me, please.

[Indistinct whispers]

Kate: Did you know he was going to be here?

Chad: No! What do you think is going on?

Kate: I'm not sure. But it doesn't change anything. I'm in control here.

Chad: [Laughs]

Eve: Are you kidding me? I can't go to my own daughter's concert?

Jennifer: Not if JJ's there.

Eve: Who died and made you God?

Jennifer: I mean, I could just tell Paige what happened.

Eve: No, no, no, that was not the deal! What kind of new rules you coming up with now, Jennifer/

Jennifer: I don't want you ever in the same room with him again--

Eve: Oh, my God. What do you think is gonna happen?

Jennifer: Nothing, because he doesn't want to be in any room with you ever again.

Eve: You know, whatever JJ is a little beside the point right now. Okay? And let's just, for the sake of argument, what if Paige and JJ do get back together and your wish comes true, hmmm? I'm Paige's mother. I'm eventually gonna be around-- that's right! Around JJ. Right? And eventually, you are just going to have to deal with it. So what's it gonna be, Jennifer? Are you gonna allow me to go to my daughter's recital, or are you gonna punish Paige in order to punish me? Huh?

Paige: JJ, I wasn't defending you, I just-- I didn't want Theresa making a scene.

JJ: Okay. But even if-- if it wasn't for me, I appreciate it. Paige, I know how angry you are, and you have ever right to be.

Paige: Gee, thanks.

JJ: But if I could buy you, like, a coffee after the recital and we could talk, really talk--

Paige: Look, I already done you. I'm done.

JJ: Paige, I know that you think that I'm playing games, but I swear -- if you had any idea how much I love you....Just give me five minutes.

Paige: JJ, I'm not interested in listening to any more of your lies. Not for five minutes. Not for anything. Good luck with your performance. I'm out of here.

Maggie: And I know Sonny's gonna make a full recovery, but I can't seem to pull Victor out of this funk.

Hope: I'm sure Sonny's attack hit him hard.

Maggie: Yeah.

Hope: I've never seen him more proud than when he hosted Sonny and Will's wedding here.

Maggie: He just adores his nephew. I mean, we all do. But, it's more than just shock, Hope. Victor has stopped going out, period. I mean, he doesn't go to his club, he doesn't go to his office.

Hope: That's definitely not like him, not at all.

Maggie: No, he's become a total recluse. And I can't help thinking, something else is going on.

Ciara: Grandpa Victor said you made lemon bars for me?

Maggie: I did. Let's go get you one, okay? Come on, sweetheart.

Ciara: Or maybe two.

Maggie: Oh, or maybe two.

Victor: Your daughter informs me that her trip was the best ever. And that yours was even better.

Hope: [Laughs] She said that? She told you that, huh?

Victor: She said you haven't stopped smiling since you had the opportunity to spend all that time with Aiden Jennings.

Hope: Well, it gave us the opportunity to get to know each other better.

Victor: And?

Hope: He's a great guy. I'm sorry.

Victor: Oh, don't be! I'm very happy for you. You deserve to be happy.

Hope: Thank you.

Victor: I really mean it.

Hope: I really appreciate you saying that.

Abe: The judge agreed to all that? Are you sure? All right, well, thank you. What the Hell are you up to, Stefano?

Valdez: DiMera's overseas profits increased 17% in the last quarter and are projected to double over the next fiscal year.

Stefano: Mm-hmm. Impressive, my son.

Kate: It may have slipped your mind, Stefano, but Chad and I are co-CEOs.

Stefano: Uh-huh. I have not forgotten.

Kate: Good. Then I am thrilled that you're so appreciative of our work. And as you just heard, we have had an extremely, extremely good quarter.

Stefano: Yes, I heard that.

Kate: And there's no reason to think that that won't continue. As long as we continue to follow the path set forth by the current leadership of this company. Which, once again, is Chad and myself.

Stefano: Well, [clears throat] I'm afraid I must disagree, Katerina. You and Chad have done well by DiMera Enterprises. Nonetheless, I believe it is time for a change.

Brady: How long have you had this?

Melanie: Oh, [Laughs] I got that in Paris. The way I found my parents, it kind of made me a believer in fate.

Brady: I like it.

Melanie: Well, hey, me too.

[Both laughing]

Brady: You know what? It just occurred to me that you know everything about what's been going on in my life since you left town. I mean, you know-- you know everythin. You know about Kristen, and Theresa, and my falling off the wagon. But how about you?

Melanie: How about me?

Brady: Well, it's almost like nothing has happened since you left town.

Melanie: Well, actually a lot's happened. Probably more than I'd like to admit.

Theresa: [Gasps] What the Hell are you doing here?

Clint: Aren't you happy to see me, babe?

Theresa: No!

Clint: Aw, come on, babe. Don't be like that.

Theresa: What, seriously? One day you just out of the blue, you just dump me and you leave town, and now you show up again, and you just-- what? You expect me to forget all about it?

Clint: What do you want me to say, I'm sorry? I made a mistake. I missed you. And I bet you missed me, too.

Theresa: No, I--

Clint: Shall we take this to the bedroom?

Theresa: Yeah, not so fast.

Clint: Right here is fine, too.

Theresa: Look, Clint, you have a lot of explaning to do, okay? First of all, who is Dr. Mandrake?

Jennifer: Fine. Go to the recital. But if you so much as look in my son's direction--

Eve: Oh, my God! The only person I care about in the whole room will be my daughter, all right?

Jennifer: Good because I'll be there, and I'll be watching you very carefully. And if you even say one word against JJ--

Eve: Yeah, I know, Jennifer, yeah, I know, I can't look at him, I can't like him, I can't hate him, or you're gonna tell Paige that I slept with her boyfriend. I get it. I am Switzerland. I got it. Gosh, but you know what, Jennifer? I really don't even have to lift a pinky to keep Paige and JJ apart because there's no way he's ever gonna be able to explain why he's been acting like a dirt bag these past months and why he suddenly wants her back. Actually, not any way that makes sense. And certainly not without having to tell her that he slept with me. And we both know that he's not gonna do that, so, you know, you and JJ need to accept that my daughter is never, ever gonna take him back. Got it?

JJ: Hold on, you can't leave. You have your performance.

Paige: No, I talked to my professor, okay? He'll let me perform at the showcase next month, so...

JJ: Really, Paige? You're going to go to all that trouble just to avoid being here with me?

Paige: Yes! Is that really so hard to believe? You broke my heart! Okay? And now that I'm finally moving on, you've just decided you've changed your mind?

JJ: Paige, I made a huge mistake.

Paige: Yeah, you did, and your biggest mistake was thinking that you could play me again.

JJ: I'm not! I mean every single word I am saying.

Paige: Even if that's true, it's too late, okay? It doesn't matter. What about that don't you understand? I'm done with you, JJ, for good! So just--ugh!

Hope: Victor, I want you to know, I've made it my personal mission to find out who attacked Sonny and bring that person or persons to justice. Are you okay? You look a little pale.

Victor: You've been talking to your Aunt Maggie.

Hope: She's concerned.

Victor: Yes, well, Maggie worries too much. I'm fine.

Hope: She says you haven't left the house. Not even to go to the office.

Victor: It's called telecommuting. I even know how to email.

Hope: All right, all right, already. I get it. Timeout. You know, Ciara has her ice skating performance next week. Good, she's-- she's improved so much. You'll be so proud of her. I mean, last year, she couldn't even skate backward. This year? She'd love to show off for her favorite grandpa.

Victor: [Laughs]

[Phone rings]

Hope: Oh. Sorry. Gosh, I gotta take it. Excuse me. Hey, Abe, what's up?

Abe: Look, I know your shift just ended, but I need to meet with you about Stefano.

Kate: All due respect, but you are not in a position, Stefano:

Woman: If you would all check your emails right now, a new proposal has just been sent to you that Mr. DiMera believes you will find very interesting.

Kate: Well, I guess we should see what this is all about.

Chad: [Sighs] Okay.

Brady: Tell me about Europe.

Melanie: Well, you already know about the gambling thing, obviously, which you so gallantly saved me from.

Brady: [Laughs] Yeah.

Melanie: Um, let's just say life, well, with me is never boring.

Brady: No? No kidding. I know that between the two of us, this world better look out.

[Both laughing]

Brady: Wait, hold on, is that all you're going to tell me?

Melanie: Well, I mean, that's kinda-- that's kind it. I mean, I bonded with my mom. Um, I hung out with my friends and met Serena. I became friends with her. Stuff like that.

Brady: Were you seeing anyone?

Melanie: Mmm, I dated a little.

Brady: Did you fall in love with anyone? Huh?

Melanie: No. I don't think I was ready to do that. You know, when I left Salem, um, I wanted to get away from Chad and Andrew and Nick and-- I was a little traumatized.

Brady: I bet. I bet you were.

Melanie: So I put-- I put walls up, I guess. I always do that. Though I have a hard time trusting people. I trust you, though. I feel like I can be myself around you. That you won't judge me. That-- that you won't hurt me.

Brady: That's funny because I feel the same way about you.

Melanie: I love you so much.

Clint: Dr. Mandrake's just an old buddy. He used that M.D. to score me some, you know... quality stuff. Why?

Theresa: Yeah, because he left his number when you were in such a rush to get out of town.

Clint: Oh. Now that that's settled.

Theresa: Wait, nothing is settled, okay? Uh, where have you been? And why did you bolt on me? And why-- why did your number change?

Clint: See, I--

Theresa: You what?

Clint: I borrowed money from the wrong people. And it got kind of dicey for a while. I didn't want you to get caught up, so I split.

Theresa: Okay, but now you think it's okay for me to be caught in the middle because...

Clint: I settled up my debts, okay? It's all good again.

Theresa: Really?

Clint: Really. Baby, I couldn't just kept going and never looked back, but I missed you so bad. Please don't hold it against me. I swear I'll make it up to you.

Theresa: Well, you better.

Clint: You have no idea how happy you just made me.

Jennifer: Are you ready?

JJ: Ready as I'll get. And they have me going on first, so at least I'll get it over with.

Jennifer: Oh! Oh, my goodness, don't be nervous. You're gonna be so great. I heard that Paige was performing. Have you seen her?

JJ: Yeah. Didn't go so well.

Eve: Excuse me. Profesor Smythe? Hi, I'm Eve Larson. I'm Paige's mother, and I don't see her anywhere. Do you know where she went?

Professor Smythe: Didn't she tell you? Sorry, but she asked to reschedule her performance. Excuse me.

Eve: [Sighs]

Jennifer: I bet you're wondering where Paige is. JJ said she's not performing after all.

Eve: Well, I wonder what ran her off. Hmm. Doesn't bode well for your little happy reunion you were pinning your hopes on. Why do you care so much, Jennifer, hmm?

Jennifer: Because I love my son. And as little respect as I have for you, I believe you somehow managed to raise a wonderful daughter. And, uh... it's about to start. I'm gonna take my seat.

Ciara: You know, if we sold these instead of having a stupid lemonade stand, we'd be rich!

Hope: I don't understand. There's been a warrant out for Stefano's arrest for months now. Why would Judge Pearce suddenly grant a stay?

Maggie: Victor.

Hope: Caroline's expecting me to drop Ciara off in a few minutes. Can you meet me at the club? I'll see you there. Honey, we gotta go.

Ciara: But we just got here!

Hope: I know, baby, I'm so sorry.

Maggie: I hope everything is okay.

Hope: Yeah, me too.

Maggie: Thank you so much, honey. Here, take some. There you go. All right.

Hope: Come on, let's go. I'll take a bite of that. Thank you so much. Love you!

Maggie: Bye-bye. Thanks. Okay, now, Victor. Why don't you tell me what's going on?

Victor: [Sighs]

Valdez: This all sounds quite promising.

Merkel: It's certainly a much more aggressive approach.

Kate: Perhaps a little too aggressive. I think it sounds risky. Don't you, Chad?

Chad: Actually, I think it sounds pretty brilliant.

Gordon: I have on concern. I don't see any specifics about our telecommunications division, and I think that is the jewel in our crown. Our biggest growth opportunity over the next three years.

Kate: I agree with you completely. I am so glad that you brought that up. Because I have developed a plan on that front that's going to bring DiMera Enterprises to heights it's never known.

[Melancholy guitar tune]

[Phone rings]

Theresa: Aw, God! Please don't let that be... my boss.

Clint: Ignore the bitch.

Theresa: Yeah, I kind of took an extended break, so if I don't get back to work, I'm out of a job.

Clint: Okay, babe. We can meet up later. I have something else I could do while I wait.

Theresa: Yeah, well, it better not involved another woman. [Laughs]

Clint: Nah, just something else I need to take care of.

Melanie: Wait a minute! What time is it? What time is it?

Brady: I don't know. What time is it?

Melanie: [Gasps] Oh!

Brady: What?

Melanie: God, I'm gonna be late, I'm gonna be late, I'm gonna be late! Um, will you, uh, will you -- will you call or find Maxine's number? It's, uh, on there under "Boss."

Brady: Boss?

Melanie: Yeah. Don't ask questions. Okay. Um-- thanks. Hi, Maxine, I'm so sorry. I'm ten minutes late, um, um, I slept, I took a nap, and I-- my alarm didn't go off. Well, I set it, but it didn't go off and I--I--I-- Yeah, no, no, no, I'll be right there, thank you so much! I'm sorry! I'm sorry, I'll see you soon. Okay.

[Both laughing]

Brady: You think she bought that?

Melanie: No, not even a little bit, but I couldn't exactly tell her what I was actually doing.

Brady: What, having wild passionate sex with your boyfriend?

Melanie: Yeah, the most handsomest, sexiest man in the entire world.

Brady: Yeah.

Melanie:Um, uh, yes, listen, she's happy that we're together, but if I don't get my butt there right now, she's never gonna let me have a break again.

Brady: [Sighs] Well, that won't do. That won't do at all.

Melanie: No, it won't do.

Brady: Well, I'm sorry, you know what? I'm sorry that you're gonna be a couple more minutes late!

Melanie: No! [Laughs]

[Melancholy guitar tune]

Paige: It's beautiful.

JJ: Thanks.

Paige: I mean it. You completely put your heart into it.

JJ: Yeah. You know what I was thinkin' about when I wrote it?

Paige: Hmm?

JJ: You.

Kate: DiMera Enterprises has always been definied by its vision. And in this fast-changing world, we need to continue to look forward, not back at the archaeic past. Now a successful CEO always anticipates the needs of his company. What its going to need 10, 15, 20 years down the road. And it's that foresight that helped this company see record revnues in every division this past year. So, building on that success, I have kept my eye on a little telecommunications company called Glendora Technologies.

Merkel: Glendora?

Kate: Yes. Do you know it? It's one of the best kept secrets in-- in the industry. However, they have developed a patent that I am confident will revolutionize Internet commerce. So I made a preemptive move.

Stefano: Katerina, what did you do?

Kate: I did what any good CEO would do. I bought Glendora Tech.

[Both laughing]

Melanie: Enjoy your run.

Brady: Thank you.

Melanie: Thanks for dinner.

Brady: Oh, any time.

Theresa: You have sex hair.

Melanie: What? Oh.

Theresa: Yeah. Guess you and I had the same idea.

Melanie: What?

Theresa: Oh, my God, do I have to spell it out for you? It looks like you're not the only one who got lucky this afternoon.

Jennifer: [Laughs] Ooh!

JJ: What the--

Jennifer: Oh, my goodness, what is that? Must be a power surge.

JJ: Well, I hope they can fix it before the second half of the show.

Jennifer: Yeah, me, too. But I just wanted to tell you that I was so proud of you, I just wanted to jump up and down and say, "That's my son! Thats my son!"

JJ: Well, thank you for restraining yourself.

Jennifer: I know that you didn't wanna perform today. But you really put your heart into it.

JJ: It was hard. I wrote that song for Paige.

Jennifer: I guessed that. I'm sorry she wasn't able to hear it.

[Short clapping]

Dr. Smythe: I'm so sorry. Apparently some campus construction has resulted in a power outage. So we're going to have to reschedule the rest of the showcase.

Jennifer: Oh! Oh, that's too bad. Well, listen, I know that you wanted to maybe stick around and talk to Paige, but why don't you just come home with Mom?

JJ: You know, I--

Jennifer: I was thinking about whipping up some of Gram's donuts.

JJ: Thank you, but I think right now, I think I just need some time alone.

Hope: Abe, what'd you find out?

Abe: Well, apparently, Stefano's lawyer has argued that now that EJ is dead, Stefano should be given the opportunity to make his own case. Separate the tax evasion charges and make monetary amends.

Hope: Uh-huh, then why the Hell didn't he do it months ago? There must be some reason Stefano's suddenly in such a hurry to get back to Salem, wouldn't you say?

Stefano: You bought Glendora Tech?

Kate: That's what I said. This morning, we were able to buy up majority interest.

Stefano: So it was a hostile takeover?

Kate: I did what I had to do. What had to be done.

Gordon: But Mr. Shin--

Kate: Forget about Mr. Shin. He'll back me up.

Merkel: Is this a joke? Or is she trying to destroy us all?

Kate: What is that supposed to mean?

Valdez: This is a disaster. Is there anything we can do to fix this now?

Stefano: There's no need to panic, all right? Because I know exacatly what must be done.

Eve: That was a beautiful piece.

Melanie: I just so, so don't care about you love life, Theresa.

Theresa: Well, I'd rather come out and tell you than find out that you've been digging around behind my back anyway, so...

Melanie: I already told you, I don't care about that, and I'm not gonna do it any more. So I don't care about you, or Dr. Mandrake, or the weird guy that you're dating, so best of luck to your latest victim.

Theresa: Oh, no, no, honey, he's not a victim. He is just so strong and sexy and exciting and unpredictable. You know, I just never know what he's gonna do next.

Hope: Melinda, we all know this is bogus. No, you've gotta find a way to get Judge Pearce to reinstate the warrant against Stefano. Thank you.

Abe: What did Trask say?

Hope: She'll see what she can do. Now, Abe, for all we know, Stefano is on his way back to Salem as we speak.

Abe: I wish to Hell we knew what he was up to.

Hope: Well, let's go find out, let's go.

Maggie: Oh, I'm sorry, there's been a brownout across town, and it's affecting Chez Rouge. Where are you going?

Victor: Well, I'm taking your advice. I'm going out for a little walk.

Maggie: Oh, and you were hoping to avoid my questions? No such luck.

Victor: I don't know what you mean.

Maggie: I saw the look your face when Hope mentioned Judge Pearce. You didn't want me to mention that you and James are dear friends.

Victor: It was besides the point!

Maggie: Was it? Well, come on, Victor, what's going on? Are you involved in this business about a warrant against Stefano?

Victor: No, don't be ridiculous. I wouldn't raise a finger to help Stefano DiMera.

Kate: What's the problem? You should all be thanking me for having the prescience to--

Stefano: Katerina, you have made a fatal miscalculation. No one here will be thanking you, lease of all Mr. Shin.

Kate: And why not? Glendora is--

Merkel: His company.

Kate: It is not. It's wholly owned--

Chad: By Janice Austin. Mr. Shin's wife. Oh, he must be furious.

Kate: You were going to buy this company.

Stefano: Yes.

Kate: You son of a bitch! You set me up! He set me up!
