[Knock at door]
Will: It's open.
Lucas: Hey. Where's my girl?
Will: Ari's napping.
Lucas: Oh. What's all this?
Will: Notes and artifacts from Paul's interview. I'm looking for something I can use to get him out of Salem. I don't care what it takes, dad. I am not going to let him ruin my marriage.
Tori: Thank you for meeting me. I would have had you come up to my room, but it was being cleaned.
Paul: Oh, well, I'd suggest us grabbing a cup of coffee, but that would involve the risk of us being seen in public.
Tori: Paul... I told you last night that I've always been proud of you and always will be. But everyone recognizes you. You're famous, especially now that article was published.
Tori: We need privacy in order to have an honest conversation.
Paul: About what?
Tori: Just help me understand. This man you're in love with, Sonny Kiriakis-- what makes you think you have a chance to get back together?
Aiden: Hey, pretty lady.
Hope: [Laughing] Hi.
Aiden: We need to do this more often.
Hope: Yes, we do.
Aiden: Yes, yes, yes. Who invented work, anyway, hmm? I got issues with that guy.
Hope: Okay, on the bright side, my cousin Abigail is very grateful for all your hard work...
Hope: Getting those charges dropped against Ben Rogers.
Aiden: Well... happy I could help.
Hope: Well, now that you know how grateful she is, allow me to show you just how grateful I am.
Brady: Mel was called in for an extra shift, so I thought I'd surprise her.
Theresa: Hey, cuz.
Eric: Theresa, how's it going?
Theresa: Not so good. Hey, you know how you told me to stay away from Melanie? Well, maybe you should tell her to stay the hell away from me. Oh, it seems that Brady hasn't told you what a psycho his girlfriend is. Yeah, he sure knows how to pick 'em.
Brady: Theresa, why don't--
Eric: Hey, hey, what-- what's going on here?
Theresa: It just seems that Melanie's natural calling isn't nursing after all, because she spends all her of her spare time spying on me.
Melanie: Hey, dad.
Daniel: Hey. I thought I wasn't going to see you until lunch.
Melanie: Yeah, that's going to have to wait.
Daniel: Okay, well, hold on. While you're here, though, I want to talk to you about Theresa.
Melanie: Right. Still gonna have to wait, because-- and the lunch thing too. I got called in to cover a shift.
Daniel: Oh. Okay, well, I, uh, better call Nicole and let her know.
Melanie: Nicole? Why?
Daniel: Well, she wants to make lunch for the three of us. She's at the apartment now.
Melanie: Right now?
Daniel: Yeah. Is that a problem?
Melanie: No. Um, well... she's gonna have somebody there to pass the time with.
Daniel: What does that mean?
Melanie: I gave Serena my key so she could drop some books off.
Daniel: I gave Nicole my key so she could make us lunch.
Melanie: Fantastic. Well, it's--it's--I mean, they get along now, right? There won't be any bloodshed... right?
Nicole: Daniel, I-- [Gasps]
Serena: What are you doing here?
Nicole: You first.
Eric: Theresa, what are you talking about?
Theresa: Listen, I was gonna try to spare you the drama, okay? But considering what his last dirtbag girlfriend did to you, I thought you deserved to know.
Brady: Theresa, you should just be quiet.
Eric: What are you talking about?
Theresa: Look, I don't know. She--I don't know what she's gonna do to you. Oh, perfect timing--here she is.
Melanie: What is perfect timing, Theresa?
Theresa: So which one of you wants to tell Eric about Melanie's bizarre fixation on a certain Dr. Mandrake?
Clint: Dr. Mandrake, I want to apologize again for letting that girl get her hands on your cell number. It was sloppy.
Mandrake: That's not why I summoned you here. She's off the scent now... not that she was ever on it.
Clint: Then what did you want to talk to me about?
Serena: Those are books... for, you know, reading.
Serena: Melanie gave me her key so that I could drop them off. Your turn.
Nicole: Well, I'm making lunch for Daniel.
Serena: Some recipe.
Nicole: [Scoffs] You know, I don't know why I'm standing here talking to you. I'm gonna go finish getting ready, and when I get back, I want you gone.
Serena: Gladly. [Sighs] Which one is it? Tastes just like the holidays
Paul: I-I have no idea what might happen between me and Sonny, but I did talk to him before he left town.
Tori: "Left town"? For business?
Paul: It's kind of... an open-ended trip.
Tori: So he's gone, and you're here, and you think you have a chance because...?
Paul: Well, because before he left, he-- well, someone asked him a very telling question. Would he have gotten married if he thought he still had a chance with me?
Tori: Wait. He's married?
Paul: Yes, but he only married this person because he thought that I was--
Tori: That does not matter, Paul. You need to let this go. He's a married man? He made vows. He needs to honor them, and so do you?
Lucas: So you really think getting rid of Paul is gonna solve the problem?
Will: Of course not. But it's a start.
Lucas: Listen, I understand. I understand it's hard realizing that Sonny was in love with someone before--so in love that he asked the guy to marry him, and he didn't mention it to you. But, will, at the same time, you know, Sonny's not the one--
Will: You think I don't know that, dad? I'm the one that betrayed Sonny. I never should've slept with Paul, and I get that. If I lose my husband, it's... it's on me. But...
Lucas: But what?
Will: I just can't help but wonder what it is that Paul wants. What is he willing to do to get it? I mean, he's not going anywhere. He says that he's staying in Salem for his physical therapy, but that's total BS. He could do that anywhere.
Lucas: You think he wants Sonny?
Will: And when Sonny gets back, how the hell are we supposed to fight for our marriage if Paul's around all the time? Did you know that his mother's here now too?
Lucas: No. No, I didn't know that. But what is this gonna do? I mean, what's all this stuff gonna do? You gonna blackmail Paul into leaving town? Come on.
Will: Call it what you want. I call it self-preservation. I'm not gonna sit back and watch Paul try to steal my husband. I love Sonny too much to just give up.
Lucas: All right. [Sighs] All right, let's see what we can find.
Hope: [Laughs] The symphony's doing a Mozart concert this weekend.
Aiden: The symphony? Hmm.
Hope: Not a fan, huh?
Aiden: Well, that depends. Is it near a hotel?
Hope: Oh, gosh, maybe.
Hope: What about a show? Blue man group's in town next weekend.
Aiden: Are they playing at the Rosemont?
Hope: I don't know. Why?
Aiden: It's near my favorite hotel. Oh.
Hope: Hey. Hey! John. [Chuckles] It's good to see you.
Hope: I just want to say, it's so good to have you back on the team.
John: Thank you.
Hope: Oh, I'm sorry. Um, you know Aiden, don't you?
John: I've, uh, seen him around the station. We've never formally met. I'm john black.
Aiden: Aiden Jennings.
John: Um, listen, I need to pick your brain about something that came across my desk this morning. It's a string of convenience-store robberies. Lead suspect--guy you collared about a year ago.
Hope: Mm, let me guess-- uh, Lenny Bluford.
John: That's the one. So, if you can pull your case notes when you get back to the office, you and I can have a little talk?
Hope: I don't need my notes. Guy's got a dragon tattoo on his left arm, angel on his right, sticky fingers on both.
John: She's something, isn't she?
Aiden: Tell me about it.
Eric: Dr. Mandrake--who is he?
Theresa: Yeah, he's a friend of an ex-friend of mine and a fertility doctor, which I only know because our intrepid little Melanie found out that information when she was digging up dirt on me.
Melanie: That's not what I was trying to do.
Theresa: Oh, yeah. No, she's got a full-time job, a full-time boyfriend, and yet she finds time for this. Why?
Melanie: You can go to hell.
Brady: Whoa, whoa.
Theresa: Oh, yeah?
Serena: [Sighs] I-it's this one, I... I think.
Daniel: Hey, Greg. Yeah, it's good to see you. All right, take care.
Serena: [Grunts] Hi.
Daniel: Hey. Everything o--uh, okay in here?
Serena: Uh, why wouldn't it be?
Daniel: Because you don't seem okay. I will take beauty into my own hands.
Lucas: [Sighs] Nothing here. What's this? Anything in here?
Will: Uh, pictures from Paul's career, and I think some were uploaded and scanned in from a family album.
Lucas: [Sighs] Wait a minute. Is this--is this Paul's mother?
Will: Yeah. The picture was taken a while ago, obviously, but...
Lucas: So she's been to Salem before?
Will: No. No, she didn't even want Paul to come here for his surgery. Why would you ask that?
Lucas: Well, I don't know. This just kind of looks like... this looks like the north side of the lake. What do you think?
Paul: I understand what vows are, mom. And I know that you wish more than anything that you had a chance to take them with my father. I'm sorry you didn't.
Tori: It's not your fault.
Paul: Well, it's not my fault that my father died without ever knowing I existed. But you never planned to be a single mom... stuck with me.
Tori: I-I was never stuck with you. You were the greatest gift. That changed my life. You were, and are, my greatest joy. I would--I would do anything for your happiness, Paul, but for you to steal that happiness from someone else, it's wrong.
Paul: Well, it would be, if they were happy, but Sonny and his husband--they're not.
Tori: How do you know that?
Paul: Because Sonny's husband cheated on him.
Tori: He told you that? Paul?
Paul: No, but...
Tori: So then you're not sure.
Paul: I am.
Tori: How could you be?
Paul: Because Sonny's husband slept with me.
Brady: This is ridiculous. You and I--we're gonna have a little talk, okay?
Theresa: Oh, right, because it is so wrong for me to stand here and point out, you know, the truth.
Melanie: You wouldn't know the truth if it hit you in the face.
Theresa: Oh, don't tempt me.
Eric: Melanie, I would like to have a word with you too.
Eric: It's important.
Melanie: All right. We'll use my dad's office.
Theresa: [Scoffs] Wow. [Breathes deeply] Look, what would it take for you to admit that that Nancy drew wannabe had no right to do what she did?
Brady: Actually, not much, because I agree with you.
Theresa: Did you... tell her that? I mean, does she know?
Brady: Of course. I did.
Theresa: [Sighs] And, um... was she upset?
Brady: Yeah, she was.
Theresa: Did you two fight about it?
Brady: Yeah, we did.
Melanie: I'm sorry I'm so worked up. She just pushes every single button I have.
Eric: Yeah, she seems to have that effect on a lot of people.
Melanie: Yeah, different people, different buttons, and apparently, since I'm dating Brady now, I've taken Jennifer Horton's place as her favorite person to torture.
Eric: Listen, Theresa's my cousin, so I'm kind of, you know, pulling for her to find her way.
Melanie: Great. As long as it's not in my way.
Eric: Yeah, well, I hope it's not, for her sake. Listen, you don't have to explain anything to me, okay?
Melanie: All right. Thank you for getting me out of there. I know you don't actually have anything to tell me.
Eric: No, I do. It's important. It's about Serena.
Serena: I'm--I'm fine. I was just dropping things off for Melanie.
Daniel: Yeah, yeah, she, uh-- she mentioned that. Uh...
Serena: Um, yeah. Oh, the--Nicole, uh, startled me, scared me half to death.
Daniel: Yeah, I'm sorry about that. I didn't know that you were coming, and Melanie didn't know that Nicole was coming. Is everything okay?
Serena: Of course.
Daniel: Is she still here?
Serena: Yeah, um, she's back there. [Clears throat] You know, I wouldn't have been so scared, but last time you and I talked, you said that you were through with her. [Sighs]
Paul: I'm sorry, Mother. That's the last thing I ever wanted to have to say to you. I'm sure you're very disappointed with me right now.
Tori: What I am... is confused. You tell me you love this Sonny, but if that's true, then why did you go after his husband?
Paul: I didn't go after anyone. I didn't even know will was in a relationship, let alone married.
Tori: Just tell me what happened.
Paul: [Sighs] Okay, will was assigned to write the story about me. And we spent a lot of time together, and we talked about some... intensely personal stuff.
Tori: So he pursued you.
Paul: No, it's not like that. It... it was totally mutual. Look, mom, I was in a really bad place. I had just found out that my career was over, and Sonny just told me that he moved on. I had no idea that will was married to Sonny, and will had no idea that Sonny and I were--
Tori: Paul, after all that's happened, you can't possibly think that Sonny and you might find your way back together.
Paul: Why not? I love him. You lost the man you love. Y-you never had a chance. I do. And you're telling me to just let that all slip away?
Tori: No, I'm not. It has to be your choice, but I beg you to think it through. Sonny married this man. He must have deep feelings for him. And if he doesn't... then is Sonny really the kind of man that you want to be with, anyway?
Will: It does look like the lake. It's hard to say for sure.
Lucas: Yeah, I guess you're right. I guess it doesn't matter, anyway. I'll try to look for something else, then.
Will: Well, who knows what really matters? Is there any way that we can find out for sure?
Lucas: Well, yeah, you know who spends a lot of time down there is hope. Maybe she could recognize where it was taken and, you know, help us find out somehow.
Will: Let's call her.
Lucas: Well, she's gonna want to know why, will. So exactly how do you think this is gonna help you?
Will: If Paul's mom has been to Salem before, then she lied to Paul about it. If she did... I'd like to know why.
Hope: I'm not sure if that's what you needed to know.
John: That is exactly what I needed to know. Between what the witnesses gave me and what I got from you, we got our guy. I'm gonna go make the call.
Aiden: [Inhales deeply] Oh.
Aiden: Ah, just watching you in your element. It's like flipping a switch, and you're this whole other person.
Hope: Maybe I should come down to the courthouse sometime and, um, stare you down while you cross-examine a witness... see how you feel about it then, Mr. Jennings.
Aiden: You can come see me anytime. [Chuckles]
Hope: If you say so.
[Cell phone ringing]
Hope: Yeah. Apparently no one wants us to have any time alone today.
Hope: Excuse me. Oh. Hey. Lucas, how are you, sweetheart?
Lucas: Um, good. Uh, listen, I was wondering if I can ask you a favor.
Hope: Of course. Anything. What do you need?
Lucas: Will and I were wondering if you would take a look at something for us. Um, we could come down to the station, if that's okay. Are you slammed?
Hope: Uh, well, I'm not in for another hour. Are you at will's now?
Hope: Tell you what--I'll stop by on my way to work.
Lucas: Great, great. Thank you.
Aiden: Me too.
Hope: [Sighs] When will I see you again?
Aiden: Well, that depends.
Hope: On what?
Aiden: I'm gonna make some calls, plan a very special date night which may or may not involve venturing beyond a hotel. Do you have any requests?
Hope: Surprise me.
Aiden: I'll do my best. [Chuckles] [Chuckles] Oh, hey, john. Uh, you just missed hope.
John: Yeah. No, I saw her. Actually, I came back to talk to you.
Theresa: You and Melanie had a fight... about me?
Brady: Among other things. But then we talked, and we made up, and that's what normal couples do.
Theresa: [Scoffs] Right, 'cause you're such an expert on relationships. And, oh, what, now that you've made up, Brady, you don't care what she digs up on me? I mean, not that she's gonna find--
Brady: No, she's not gonna find anything, because she's letting it go. Do you understand?
Theresa: Oh, really? Did she tell you that?
Brady: Yeah, she did.
Theresa: Oh, and I'm sure that you believed her.
Brady: Of course I do.
Theresa: Mm, of course.
Brady: So you can relax, and you don't have to feel the need to pick a fight with her every time you see her, because she doesn't care about you. And you need to let it go too. Do it.
Melanie: Are you and Serena okay?
Eric: Yeah. Yeah, we are. Um... [Sighs] Except... has Serena mentioned that she might be leaving Salem?
Eric: Well, she said she's done with her assignment and she doesn't know where her next one might take her.
Melanie: She's a freelancer. She can work wherever she wants.
Eric: See, that's what I thought, but she said it might not be up to her.
Melanie: Well, she can't go. You guys are great together.
Eric: Look... you know, I feel bad going behind Serena's back, and... I'm just hoping to recruit you to help. I mean, that is if... you know, you're on my side kind of encouraging her to stay.
Melanie: Obviously I'm on your side. I don't want her to go. She's amazing, and we actually haven't had our double date yet.
Eric: [Chuckles] That would be great.
Melanie: Good. You know, it's funny--sometimes I wish I were more like Serena.
Eric: Really? Why?
Melanie: She's so smart.
Eric: You're smart.
Melanie: [Chuckles] And confident, and unlike me, you always know where she stands.
Serena: You look different. Anyway, I just came to drop these books off. I'm gonna get going.
Nicole: I hope nothing was damaged.
Serena: Of course not.
Daniel: What does that, uh-- what does that mean?
Serena: Nothing. Just that Nicole really startled me when she came in.
Nicole: We scared the bejesus out of each other, and then--
Serena: And then I realized that apparently there were some new developments since you and I had coffee together, and you and Nicole are clearly on again. So I'll let you get to... it. Bye, now.
Nicole: Uh, lunch isn't ready.
Daniel: It's, um... it's okay.
Nicole: So you talked to Serena about us?
Daniel: It just... it just came up.
Nicole: When you were having coffee. Yeah, I heard. You know what? Can we not talk about her for a minute, okay? Because this day isn't going exactly how I envisioned it.
Daniel: And how did you envision it?
Nicole: Uh, well, um...
Daniel: Nicole... what is going on?
Nicole: Well, like Serena said--
Daniel: I don't mean with Serena. I mean with you.
Lucas: So what do you think? Is that the lake?
Hope: Yeah, looks like it. What's all this, anyway? What's going on?
Will: Um, notes from my article. I'm, um--I'm working on a new angle.
Hope: Who's the woman in the picture?
Will: Paul Narita's mother.
Hope: Really? Beautiful woman.
Aiden: All right, well, you can stop beating around the bush. I know what this is all about. Hope's got a lot of friends, and they're all very protective.
John: You think I'm here to put the fear of God in you about treating her right?
Aiden: Well, aren't you?
John: Aiden, I can see how happy she is, and I have known her for a long time, and I am glad that you two found each other.
Aiden: Thank you.
John: Actually, I wanted to talk to you about your son, chase. I understand he plays a pretty mean shortstop.
Aiden: Oh. Who told you that?
John: League commissioner. You know, I haven't coached kids in a while, but I'm really looking forward to getting back into it.
Aiden: So you're--you're chase's baseball coach?
John: That's a fact.
John: That's a fact, and it's gonna be nice to see a familiar face in the stands.
Aiden: Well, we'll see what you say when the season starts, all right? I'll be that parent driving you nuts about why my kids riding the bench.
John: I'm the same way with my kids. You know, unfortunately, I got a lot of kids that aren't gonna have that kind of parental support. I got to come up with some fund-raisers for some unis and equipment. Hell, I got kids that don't even have a glove.
Aiden: Is that right?
Aiden: Well, hey, look, I'll help out any way I can, yeah.
John: Thanks, Aiden. Appreciate it.
Aiden: Yeah, you got it. Hey, john, isn't that, uh, Paul Narita? God, I wish I knew him. Get him to sign a few jerseys. We'd be all set.
John: Actually, I do know him.
Brady: Everything okay?
Eric: I better get these proofs over to pr. You can have her back now.
Brady: Oh, thank you. What makes you think I want her back?
Melanie: So funny.
Eric: Hmm. As I beat my hasty retreat.
Melanie: You better go beat your own hasty retreat.
Brady: I don't think so. I don't think so. Hi. We're alone, right?
Brady: [Smooches] Mm. Hey, aren't you gonna ask me how it went out there?
Melanie: No. I don't care. This is what I care about.
Mandrake: As you can see, ms. DiMera was very pleased with your work. It's why she'd like to engage your services again.
Clint: But this... could be pretty dangerous.
Mandrake: [Chuckles] Oh, yes... quite.
Theresa: [Sighs] I thought I had a Melanie-free afternoon. Now that little bitch is gonna be here for hours. God, I have got to get out of here. Um, okay. "Hey, big sis, how about a drink?" [Scoffs] "Maybe a few drinks?"
Oh, Theresa. Maxine wanted me to tell you there's some kind of snafu with payroll. Admin wants hr to handle it ASAP.
Theresa: Great. How is that my problem?
You're hr, right?
Theresa: Oh, God!
Nicole: I'm not sure what you mean.
Daniel: Well, you were coming here to make lunch... in my bedroom?
Nicole: [Chuckles] Well, I had this idea.
Daniel: Yeah? Did it have anything to do with your needing to wear this--this heavy, heavy coat in my 75-degree apartment?
Nicole: [Chuckles] Well, when Melanie said she got called into work, I thought it was just... gonna be...
Nicole: Yes. Us. You and me. But when it comes to one-on-one time, I guess I just have to stand in line.
Nicole: Jennifer and now Serena. And, honestly, I don't know why. I don't know why I try so hard, because I'm really trying to get you--
Lucas: Is there any way to know for sure?
Hope: Hmm. Wait a minute.
Hope: Yep. I thought so. You see that? That's the DiMera boathouse. Mrs. Narita's standing on DiMera property.
Lucas: Are you sure about that?
Hope: Yeah, no doubt in my mind.
Aiden: Pleasure to meet you. I wish my son, chase, was here. He's a huge fan, knows all your stats.
John: Aiden and I were talking about the, uh, little-league team I'm gonna be coaching this year. His son's gonna be one of our star players. And we're trying to come up with a little fund-raising.
Aiden: Yeah, and, well, we know you were very generous in helping out the hospital at Christmas, so...
Paul: Oh, yeah, it was easy enough to sign a few baseballs. Of course, that was before my career ended and before the article came out, so I don't know how much help I can be to you guys.
John: Are you kidding me? Do you have any idea how many fans you have in this town?
John: And probably twice as many now, with the courage that you showed.
Aiden: That's right. That's right. Hey, um, would you mind if I got your autograph?
Aiden: It's for my son.
John: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Aiden: And, uh... well, maybe I'll take one too.
Paul: Of course. Anything to help.
Daniel: Now... I am going to tell you with words. I am interested. I really, really am, but...
Nicole: You're gun-shy. You're afraid I'm going to ruin everything all over again.
Daniel: No, I just want to be careful.
Daniel: Now, you said you were gonna make lunch for me and my daughter. And...
Nicole: You're hungry.
Daniel: Yes, I am. And I certainly didn't expect to come home to... I am not even gonna comment on that coat that you have been so diligent about keeping buttoned up.
Nicole: [Chuckles] Mm. Maybe it's just as well.
Daniel: It's a trust thing... which means this... is having the opposite of the desired effect.
Nicole: It wouldn't... if you saw the whole outfit. [Chuckles] Okay. All right, I hear you. I get it. I get it, and I... respect your needs.
Nicole: But what about mine?
Daniel: You want to feel like something--something is happening here?
Nicole: Yes. Yes, and--and--and at this rate, I mean, maybe we'll be holding hands by the next millennium. Look, Daniel, I'm... I'm being patient. I really am. It's just that I... I enjoy being with you.
Nicole: And I want it to happen more often... with fewer onlookers. And I know you're busy. I know.
Daniel: As are you. You know, it so happens that I am cramming for a presentation I have at the hospital, and I would really... really appreciate it if you... could carve out some time to go shopping with me.
Daniel: I was hoping you could help me pick out a power tie.
Nicole: Tie shopping? Oh, is this your idea of moving things along? [Clicks tongue]
Daniel: Eh, I'll throw in some coffee.
Nicole: [Laughing] Oh, wow. Lucky me.
Serena: Hey-- Eric, hi.
Eric: Hey. You look like you're in a hurry.
Serena: Yeah, it's just turning out to be one of those days.
Eric: Well, I hope it's not about our conversation from earlier.
Serena: No. No, just, um, busy--work.
Eric: Yeah, well, take your time with that assignment. The longer it takes, the longer you get to stay in Salem.
Serena: Well, let's just, um, take it one day at a time, okay? I, uh--I got to get going.
Eric: Well, can I help you with that?
Serena: No, it's okay.
Eric: Can I walk you?
Serena: Uh, you know, I'm just... actually puzzling through something and need a little more alone time to work it out. I'm hoping today's the day that it all pays off.
Eric: So am I.
Serena: [Chuckles] I'll call you later.
Eric: Okay, talk to you later.
Brady: I guess I have to let you get back to work. All right... [Clears throat]
Melanie: Thank you for surprising me at work.
Melanie: Sorry that we couldn't spend a lot of time together.
Brady: We'll make up for it later.
Melanie: I have a couple minutes. I can walk you out.
Brady: Okay. Let's go.
Brady: Let's go.
Theresa: Um, you know what? You take it. I'll take the stairs. God... what is it gonna take to get all these losers out of my life?
Mandrake: Ms. DiMera and I both have faith that you'll accomplish what you need to do.
Mandrake: Go. Finish it with both of them.
[Knock at door]
Paul: Will, it's me--Paul. Are you here?
Lucas: Hello, Paul.
[Knock at door]
Will: Mrs. Narita. I'm sorry to come over unannounced, but... I need to speak to you.
Daniel: Hey. So we're good?
Nicole: You tell me.
Daniel: Well, we never had that lunch. I'll live. You?
Nicole: I think I'll manage.
Daniel: So I'll see you soon.
Nicole: I hope so.
Daniel: You will.
Daniel: That way.
Nicole: Thank you.
Daniel: Mm-hmm. Oh, uh, Nicole.
Daniel: What did you mean before when you asked Serena if anything was, uh, damaged?
Nicole: Oh, uh, when I startled her, I guess she dropped those elephants of yours on the floor.
Daniel: You mean "elephant." There was only one.
Serena: No. [Sighs] There's no secret compartment inside. Damn it. I got the wrong one. [Sighs]
Nicole: Are you sure there weren't two elephants?
Daniel: I think I would know, don't you? Um, nope, just one.
Nicole: [Chuckles] Okay.
Daniel: Okay, I will--I will see you soon.
Nicole: Yeah. Really? Just one?
