Jordan: Hey. Sorry I'm late.
Abigail: Oh, that's okay, you're not. You doing okay today?
Jordan: Don't worry about me. After everything I've been through, I'm definitely capable of handling a break-up with Chad.
Abigail: Jordan, I know you cared about him.
Jordan: Yeah, well, I cared about Rafe, too. And he's the one paying the price.
Rafe: "Hey," what?
Clyde: I just want to check up on my kid. I'm hoping it's all working out for him at the club.
Rafe: Yeah, Ben is doing just fine.
Clyde: Good. I appreciate you taking a chance on him, Rafe. It's hard to find work when you're facing criminal charges. Though I'm confident he will beat them, by the way.
Rafe: Really? And why is that?
Clyde: Well, the lawyer thinks it's dead in the water since DiMera's not pressing charges.
Rafe: Well, you have some sort of reason to believe that Chad's not gonna change his mind?
Clyde: Well, I don't see the man trying to put his girlfriend's brother in jail, no?
Rafe: Yeah, well, you're a little behind the times, as they say, 'cause Jordan and Chad? History. As in, she dumped him.
Kate: So, how long have you been standing there?
Chad: Not too long.
Kate: Mm. I imagine this means that you're ready to have it out about what I told Jordan.
Paige: Mom, I'm busy, okay?
Eve: That's all you can say to me? You really have no idea what today is, do you?
Eve: Oh, you think it doesn't matter who I slept with? Really? You think it doesn't matter to you? Really? Well, you really don't even have a clue, now do you?
Jennifer: I'm so sorry.
Daniel: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Jennifer: I did not look where I was going. I'm sorry.
Daniel: You okay? Okay, I don't mean to put you on the spot. If this is none of my business--
Jennifer: No, you're not, you're being a friend. And I need a friend.
Daniel: What is going on?
Jennifer: This whole JJ, Paige break-up, I can't let it go.
Daniel: Even now? I mean, the whole thing's been resolved.
Jennifer: Resolved? How?
JJ: It's great to see you, Roxanne.
Roxanne: Same. I mean, it's been a long time since boarding school, and-- we live so close to each other now. What were we waiting for? But enough about me. Tell me about this favor you want. I could not be more curious.
JJ: Okay, um... I'm in the middle of something and I want to fix it but I can't. Not alone. Maybe, if you do me a solid, maybe I can be out of all of it today.
Clyde: Are you sure this isn't just a little wishful thinking on your part?
Rafe: Pretty sure. Hey, but don't take my word for it. Ask around. But I'm telling you, Jordan and Chad are--they're done. Not such good news for Ben, obviously. But it's great news for Jordan. You okay with that? I mean, you do care about her as much as you do him, right?
Abigail: You don't think that Chad is gonna take this out on Ben and help the DA with the assault charge, do you?
Jordan: I don't know. I want to go over there and plead Ben's case but I'm afraid I'll make it worse.
Abigail: Yeah, it's risky.
Jordan: I guess I just have to wait it out.
Abigail: You know what? I left some forms at home. So I'm going to go grab them and I will be back really soon.
Chad: Well, I would be justified in being furious, don't you think? I mean, Jordan had no idea that I was the one that sent that letter to Rafe's boss until you decided to tell her.
Kate: Oh, yes, and that was so much worse than writing the letter in the first place and ruining Rafe's career.
Chad: He was coming after me, Kate.
Chad: Although I have had all night to think this through, and although I do have every right to be, I'm actually not all that angry with you.
Chad: Do you have any idea how hard I had to work to convince Jordan that I was not such a bad guy?
Kate: Oh, I'm sure you worked your fingers to the bone.
Chad: But when you add it all up, it was a total waste of time. And to balance that with everything going on in my life. Running a company.
Kate: [Chuckles] With a little help.
Chad: Money, perks, power. With all of that, why was I so desperate to hang on to one girl?
Jennifer: You can't just say something like that and then just drop it.
Daniel: Right. I ran into JJ last night and I think--
Jennifer: What? That you have more of a right to know what's going on with my son than I do?
Daniel: Not really what I was going to say, I--
Jennifer: I mean, I know that we've been through this before. And I know I got upset with you for keeping things from me that I needed to know about JJ 'cause you wanted to help him. But right now, things are not good. And he is not talking, so if you know something, please... unless you feel you're betraying a confidence.
Daniel: No, it's not that.
Jennifer: Okay, then please, just help me. Be my friend.
Daniel: All right, let's go to my office--
Jennifer: No, my office.
Eve: I know this may sound dramatic, but I really feel like you saved my life that day.
Eve: No, your dad took off. He just, poof, disappeared. The next morning, I couldn't even get out of bed. But you weren't gonna have that. You weren't gonna let me feel sorry for myself. I just remember exact words, I think it was, "get your butt out of bed, mother. I need you." That's what I did. You made me get out of bed, get dressed, get out of the house, and then we went down by the water to that amusement park, do you remember?
Eve: Yeah. We rode that carousel, remember? You know, I can still remember exactly what you looked like on that horse in front of me. Just laughing, turning back, and smiling at me. You knew I was dead inside, but you didn't give up. You didn't give up on me or us. That was eight years ago today.
Paige: This is the first time I forgot.
Eve: Honey, I know you're mad at me. I mean, why wouldn't you be? I've made so many mistakes, and honey, I'm so sorry. I'm really, really sorry about California. You know, I think--well, I feel maybe if I just said it enough, you'd start believing it. And about JJ. I just--
Paige: No, no, mom. Do not go there. Do not, okay? I'm done thinking about him. I'm done dwelling on him. I'm just done.
Roxanne: Oh, finally. You want payback for all the times you saved my butt at St. Albans.
JJ: You were in trouble pretty much all the time.
Roxanne: It was A... cultural disconnect.
JJ: Mm-hmm, yeah.
Roxanne: And you kept them pretty busy, too. Once you were expelled, I was bored out of my mind, JJ. I couldn't even score decent weed until I came home for spring break.
JJ: Mm. Rough times, huh?
Roxanne: Yeah, thanks to you for biting the dust like that. Not cool, bro.
JJ: Well, I'm sure you got along fine, Rox. I saw on PalPage that you go to Loyola now.
Roxanne: Are you PalPage stalking me, Deveraux?
JJ: Oh, come on. Oh, no, what's to stalk? 'Cause I know you don't have a boyfriend 'cause I know you, Roxanne, and you would've changed your relationship status like, first bathroom break, first date.
Roxanne: You are so wrong.
JJ: Mm, not much.
Roxanne: No, I don't post personal stuff online. Never. Do you know they have people who archive your PalPage posts for corporations with, like, a five-year look-back? I have to think about my killer future in banking, you know.
Roxanne: Okay, fine. I have no interest. But I do not now, nor have I ever, kissed and told.
JJ: So nothing about your personal life online?
Roxanne: Is that so rare? I mean, anyone with a brain knows it's risky to overshare, if not downright insane.
JJ: No, absolutely. I mean, you're actually being really sane about that. Guarding your privacy. I mean, that might be just perfect for my favor.
Roxanne: Well. Then I guess it's about damn time you told me what the favor is.
JJ: There's this girl.
Roxanne: Oh, man. How far along is she?
JJ: No, it's not like that. No, she's not pregnant.
Roxanne: Oh, well, that's good, anyway.
JJ: Yeah, but what's not good is I've been trying to shut her down and she won't let go.
Roxanne: Ugh, I hate that. Those clingy types, right?
JJ: No, she's really great. It's just, I can't anymore. I'm not into anything long-term.
Roxanne: Quelle surprise.
JJ: All right, so I tried telling her that I was with someone because she wasn't buying the "I don't want to commit" thing.
Roxanne: But you're not... with someone else?
JJ: No. And I thought that she would drop it. I just need more. I need to show her that I'm with someone and that it's serious.
Roxanne: Right, so you need proof, you mean?
JJ: You said that I got you out of a lot of jams. Well, you can get me out of this one, if you're into it.
Roxanne: You want me to pretend we're hooking up.
JJ: Well, I think we know each other, like, well enough to where it could look pretty believable, don't you?
Roxanne: It's kind of an intense plan just to throw some girl off your radar screen. You're leaving something out of this little plan, JJ. It doesn't feel right.
JJ: I'm not leaving anything out.
Roxanne: You know what? I pass. I don't think this is for me.
Eve: Paige, look, I'm sure you know how I feel.
Paige: About JJ? Um, yeah, mom. So let's not talk about it because I don't need to hear it, okay? Right? You win.
Eve: I don't win. But I hear you. You're done. But I just hope we're not done. Are we, honey?
Daniel: Okay, first of all, JJ was upset.
Jennifer: Yes, he's upset all the time lately.
Daniel: Wait a second. Yes, he was upset but he said a lot of smart things.
Daniel: Like how he learned from you, from us that he has to face up to things and not hide from them. He said he was determined to handle this on his own. And before we left, he said he learned. He knew he messed up, that he hurt Paige, and he wanted to be straight with her. Okay, Jenn, I know that look. And if I can presume to advise you, yes?
Daniel: Okay, I think you need to let JJ handle this on his own. And believe me, you'd have an easier sneaking into the Louvre in your cute little cat burglar suit, but you have to try.
Jennifer: Okay, yes. You're right. You're right. I will try.
Daniel: Okay, well I have to get to the university to talk to a professor about a lecture I'm giving.
Jennifer: Lecture. Great.
Daniel: Yeah, I gave lectures over at the-- are you okay?
Jennifer: Yes, I am.
Daniel: Not so sure.
Jennifer: Just go. Please. Go.
Kate: Well, I hate to resort to "I told you so's" but as you recall, I was the one who told you you could do better than Jordan Ridgeway.
Chad: Well, you thought she was an Abigail-rebound.
Kate: Well, obviously, I was right. But, of course, that's all water under the bridge now. And you are free to play the field, you lucky fella.
Chad: And free to put the focus back on work. And with that board meeting we have coming, and all the irons in the fire, I feel like if we play it right, people will stand up and take notice. What are you thinking?
Kate: I'm never sure with you. Whether you're being earnest, or angling, or maybe both.
Chad: I take my career seriously, Kate.
Kate: Time will tell. Hopefully, we will make a good team together. Well, I need to get going. So, look, I'm glad that we cleared the air, that we won't let this issue come between us.
Chad: Just don't let it happen again.
Kate: You have nothing to worry about.
Stefano: Hello, my son. You know, I was just thinking about you.
Chad: I'm could really use your assistance, father.
Stefano: Of course. Of course. I mean, what can I do for you?
Chad: Help me destroy Kate.
Kate: Hey, I'm not that late. Do you have somewhere else to be?
Clyde: Yeah, actually, I do. I just heard that Jordan and Chad DiMera are no longer an item.
Kate: Well, that's good news for you. You couldn't stand the guy.
Clyde: Do you not understand the situation, Kate? What motivation does that little twerp have now for not pressing charges against my son?
Kate: I'm sorry, I didn't even think of that. I feel badly now.
Clyde: About what?
Kate: Well, there's something I need to tell you.
Stefano: I thought that your partnership with Kate was on solid ground.
Chad: My "partner" made sure that Rafe found out I was the one that got him canned from the police department.
Stefano: Ah, yes. Uh-huh. That would be in character for Katherine.
Chad: And ruined things between Jordan and me.
Stefano: A-ha, well, then I should drop her a "thank you" note for ridding you of that useless distraction.
Chad: Are you gonna help me destroy Kate or not, father?
Stefano: Of course I will, my son. It will be my distinct pleasure.
Paige: You're my mother. We can't be done. And just because I forgot what today is, I do remember what it meant to us.
Eve: You know, I'm gonna stop by the hospital for just a minute and drop something off for aunt Theresa, but I don't know, honey, maybe we could meet at the square. I mean, if you're okay with that. I mean, I could text you later-- please?
Paige: Go do your errand and we'll figure it out.
Eve: Okay. I'll text you really soon. Honey, I love you.
JJ: Listen, I'm sorry that I haven't been totally straight up with you about this girl.
Roxanne: Why not? What haven't you told me?
JJ: It's just that I wasn't really great to her. You know me. I can be kind of... not so nice sometimes.
JJ: So I just want to make it easier for her. Like, good karma, or something.
Roxanne: Okay, let me get this straight. You stick me in her face and you get good karma? Not so sure it works that way, dude.
Roxanne: No, I don't see for like a year and a half, JJ, and you call me down from Chicago for this? Like there isn't a pretty girl in this 'burb who would fall backwards and do anything you'd ask?
JJ: I know plenty of girls, Roxanne. I just don't know too many like you.
Roxanne: Meaning what?
JJ: You get me. And you never tried to make me into someone else. You weren't like any other girl I dated at St. Albans.
Roxanne: Which is why we never dated, I suppose.
JJ: Can I ask you why you're giving me such a hard time with this? I mean, this is your thing.
Roxanne: What, being mean to some girl?
JJ: It's not mean. It's the opposite of mean.
Roxanne: I remember what you were like before your dad died. You were actually really sweet.
JJ: I'm not trying to hurt this girl, Roxanne. I swear to you. I'm not. I've hurt her enough already.
Roxanne: You really mean this?
JJ: Yeah, I do. Will you help me out?
Roxanne: Tell me exactly what you need me to do.
[Knock at door]
Rafe: Hey, you busy?
Jordan: No, it's okay.
Rafe: Just checking in.
Jordan: On me?
Rafe: No, your laptop.
Jordan: Well, that is very nice, but I'm okay. I've been known to take care of myself.
Rafe: Yeah, I know. I know, it's just--well, that doesn't mean that you're not upset, or hurting, and I just want to say I'm sorry.
Jordan: You're sorry? Chad goes after you and you apologize to me?
Rafe: Yeah, come on, I mean, let me explain, I definitely do owe you an apology.
Jordan: No, Rafe--
Rafe: Jordan, if I hadn't been such a jerk, Chad would never have been in the picture in the first place. And yes, he hurt you, but I hurt you first.
Kate: So, I was in a bit of a confrontation with Chad over the letter that he had sent to the Salem pd about Rafe and Jordan was eavesdropping on our conversation. I had no idea she was listening.
Clyde: So she just happened to bump into you and Chad and overhear?
Kate: Yes. Yes, I know that I'm capable of doing that kind of thing, but it was just a pure coincidence.
Clyde: You are so full of it.
Kate: Excuse me?
Clyde: You hate Jordan. You're not quiet about it, yet I never made it an issue between us. But you can't seem to keep your nose out of other people's business.
Kate: You know, I'm really not loving your tone.
Clyde: This time, you've gone too far.
Kate: Okay, look, it's not Chad's just gonna rush out and press charges against Ben.
Clyde: You'd better pray my son doesn't end up in prison. Pray on that, Kate. For his sake and for yours.
Stefano: Now, do you understand how this will work, Chad?
Chad: I'm starting to think you're going to enjoy Kate's colossal fall more than I will.
Stefano: [Laughs] You know, my history with Katherine precedes yours. Do remember, though. You play this for the long game.
Chad: Long game. Got it.
Stefano: Buona fortuna, son. Okay? I'll be in touch. Ciao.
[Knock at door]
Abigail: I need to talk to you. It's important.
Roxanne: So is she here?
JJ: I thought she would be. She studies here all the time.
Roxanne: Oh, great. So she's smart and pretty. Don't worry. I know exactly what to say when you find her.
Daniel: JJ. Hey.
JJ: Hey. This is Roxanne. Trenton.
Daniel: Hi, Roxanne.
Roxanne: Hi. I'm gonna go grab something from one of the machines.
JJ: So now you've met her.
Daniel: Yeah, yeah, I did. Are you two seeing each other?
JJ: Yeah, for a little while now.
Daniel: Really? Huh. Yeah, look, man, I want to make this thing right with Paige. So we came down here looking for her.
Daniel: So you want your new girlfriend to meet Paige?
JJ: Well, it's just, I messed up with keeping this thing with Roxanne quiet and it hurt Paige more than I thought it would, so... I think it'll be better for her this way.
Daniel: So what are you doing here, anyway?
Daniel: I have a meeting about a guest lecture I'm giving tomorrow. You know, maybe we can-- maybe we can catch up later.
JJ: Yeah, sure.
Daniel: All right? All right, buddy, good to see you.
Roxanne: Who was that? He looked at me weird.
JJ: Doesn't matter, all right? Let's get out of here.
Eve: Hi, I'm here to see my sister, Theresa Donovan.
Jennifer: Let me guess what this is about. Could it be you're recruiting someone to go after my son?
Eve: Oh, you paranoid much, Jennifer?
Jennifer: Oh, what's paranoid about that? You already admitted that you were more than willing to lie about breaking the two of them up. I mean, breathing is suspicious, where you're concerned.
Eve: Okay, I don't have to stand here and listen to this.
Jennifer: I mean, really, you call me paranoid, but you lie to your daughter about her grandfather being sick and he needs her there--
Eve: Well, it worked, didn't it? Yeah, because Paige is done with JJ for good. And I am proud of her. I am proud that she stood up to that lying little creep.
Roxanne: Listen, I know gave you a hard time before, but you really didn't have to try so hard to get me down here. Show time.
Jordan: I don't know what to say.
Rafe: Look, I didn't mean to put you on the spot. I know I made my feelings about Chad pretty clear.
Jordan: And I made my choices.
Rafe: I know. I know it. What I meant is just that you deserve better. Also, I ran into Clyde earlier. Dropped the bomb that you had dumped Chad. He didn't seem too thrilled.
Jordan: Huh. He did the math about Ben pretty fast.
Rafe: He's smarter than he looks. He also knows that Chad could double-cross Ben.
Jordan: You know that, too, don't you?
Rafe: Yeah. Sorry to say. I would bet on it.
Abigail: You look surprised to see me. Come on, Chad. Is it really that big a shock?
Chad: Well, if you're coming to check up on me, I took a cab. Don't worry, I know I was in no condition to drive.
Abigail: I wouldn't say checking up on you. Just wondering how you're doing.
Chad: Well, I'm the guy who ruined Rafe's career, remember? I'm also the guy who your best friend, Jordan, dumped last night. Do you really care how I feel?
Abigail: Yes. Yes I care. Chad, I care because I know you and I know that sometimes you do things without thinking. And though I hate what you did to Rafe, I think you did it because you were afraid that you might lose Jordan.
Chad: And I have. But I'll pull through. Just like I did with you. So if that is the only reason you came over here, then I'm sorry, but you wasted your time.
Abigail: No, it's not. I came because I wanted to talk to you about Ben.
Chad: See, I should have known that was the reason. That's why you came to see me last night.
Abigail: I wanted to make sure that you're not going to send Ben to prison.
JJ: Let's do this. Paige, hi.
JJ: I didn't think I'd see you out here. But I think I've been avoiding this but I guess we're all here now.
Paige: Avoiding what?
JJ: It was dumb to think that you two would never meet, but, Paige, this is Roxanne.
Roxanne: Hi, Paige. Do you guys go to Salem u together?
JJ: Roxanne is a good friend. I'm sorry I'm not better at this, but I've known Roxanne for a long time.
Roxanne: Since boarding school.
JJ: Yeah, and she's up at Loyola now in Chicago.
JJ: And when we realized how close we were to each other--
Roxanne: It's really close. Just a little over an hour--
Paige: Yeah, I know where Chicago is, thanks.
JJ: See, you said that you knew who I was hooking up with, but don't you see? You were wrong. You don't know her. Obviously--
Paige: Obviously, you're a jerk, JJ. And I totally don't give a damn.
[Knock at door]
Daniel: Are you okay?
Jennifer: Why wouldn't I be?
Daniel: Because sue just told me you got into a fight with someone at the nurses' station.
Jennifer: Sue should concentrate on being a nurse.
Daniel: Look, Jenn.
Jennifer: It's about eve.
Daniel: How bad?
Jennifer: I hate her. I hate her. She hates me. She cannot stop about JJ and she's going on and on about, "I'm just protecting my daughter" garbage. I'm sorry. I know how that sounds. It can't possibly be as bad as how I feel.
Daniel: Okay, no, I am sorry, I really am, about Paige and JJ. But, you know, maybe it'll all be easier now.
Jennifer: Now? Why?
Daniel: I just ran into him at the university and he's going public with the girl he's seeing. So it's all good.
Jennifer: Wait, what? Go back. What did you just say?
Paige: Why do you look so shocked, JJ? Were you listening to me last night, or not?
Paige: No, you don't need to run anything by me, you don't have to introduce me to anyone. You don't have to tell me what you want or why you want it. None of it makes a bit of difference to me. Okay? You're off the hook. Super meeting you.
Roxanne: Well, I didn't really have to do a whole hell of a lot, did I? That was almost too easy.
JJ: Yeah. That's the word. Easy.
Rafe: Well, well, well. If it isn't the woman of the hour.
Kate: I beg your pardon?
Rafe: When you wanna make waves, you go full tsunami, don't you?
Kate: Oh, so you're angry. See, I thought that you would be grateful.
Rafe: Really? Wow. Oh, because you did it for me, right?
Kate: Why is that so hard for you to believe? When I found out what Chad--
Rafe: Which was when exactly? Last week? Last month? Okay. Do you want the truth?
Rafe: Oh, the truth? From you? That has very little meaning.
Clyde: I just saw Kate. I can't believe she pulled a stunt like that, Jordan.
Jordan: Then you really don't know her at all. Why don't we talk about why you're really here?
Clyde: Hey, you've got to be as worried about your brother as I am. It'd be real easy for DiMera, now, to go back on his word and press charges. I half-expected to find you over there now making sure he couldn't pull that off.
Jordan: I didn't think it was my place to get involved.
Jordan: Really. Because I am pretty sure Abigail is over there right now handling it for both of us.
Chad: So Ben sent you over here to plead his case.
Abigail: No, actually, he didn't. I haven't even seen Ben today. He has no idea I'm here. I was just with Jordan.
Chad: Ah. So you two thought that you could get more out of me than she could.
Abigail: Chad, none of what happened is Ben's fault.
Chad: True. Which is why it is so very small of you and my ex to think that just because she dumped me, I would go after her brother for beating the crap out of me. Do you really think I can't see through the bogus sympathy call?
Abigail: What? Chad, come on.
Chad: No, the whole thing is about Ben. So stop pretending like you care about me.
Abigail: I do care about you.
Paige: I'm done with you.
Jennifer: Where did you meet this girl? Who is she?
Daniel: Her name is Roxanne something. Start with a T.
Jennifer: Roxanne? Roxanne Trenton?
Daniel: That is it. Yeah, that's her. So you know her?
Jennifer: Yeah, I know her. There is no way she and JJ are seeing each other.
JJ: I'm sorry that I got you down here from Chicago for nothing.
Roxanne: You know what's not nothing? How into her you still are.
Jordan: And then she made up some excuse about needing to getting some paperwork from home. So I'm sure she went to go see Chad. She wants to help and maybe she can, you know? They have a history together. What are you thinking?
Clyde: My son doesn't belong in prison. He's a good kid. He works hard. He--god, he's just getting started in life. He's got everything in front of him and now this? That damn temper of his, which he gets from me. He's better than that. He's better than me.
Jordan: It's not all talk, is it? You really do love Ben.
Chad: Okay, so you actually give a damn. Give a damn about this: Maybe it's time to rethink everything. Maybe Ben does need to be taught a lesson.
Abigail: Ben doesn't belong in prison.
Chad: Builds character.
Abigail: Damn it, Chad, this isn't a game. This is Ben's life we are talking about.
Chad: Is it yours, too, Abigail? Got your future all planned out. You and Ben, a little house, 2.5 kids and grandpa Clyde teaching them how to play the banjo. High bar you've set for yourself.
Abigail: Why are you doing this?
Chad: Because I am trying to figure out how important this all really is to you. I'm trying to figure out exactly what you would be willing to do to keep your boyfriend out of prison.
