Will: Your daddies are gonna take you to the park.
Paul: I can't wait to put you on the carousel, princess.
Sonny: No! Ari, honey. It's daddy. No. No!
Kate: Hi. Is he okay?
[Cell phone rings]
Will: Come on. Shh. Yeah?
Paul: Will. How are you?
Will: How do you think?
Paul: I guess lousy. That's why I wanted to call and check.
Will: Paul, I slept with you and you're in love with my husband. The hell am I supposed to do with that?
Eric: Seriously. Please, let go of the elephant.
Serena: I can't.
Eric: You can't? We will bond, right here and now, over a new trinket.
Eric: Or a real piece of art.
Serena: You know what I want.
Eric: Anything I have is yours.
Serena: The only thing I want.
Eric: Really? There's nothing else in this whole apartment that appeals to you? Be careful how you answer that because--
Serena: Damn it, Eric, can't you just tell me who has the elephant? Who did you give the elephant to?
Melanie: Bye, grandma. Thank you for coming.
Melanie: Uh, is parker sleeping yet?
Daniel: Well, he's in bed, but he's still on that high from his grandma's treats. Thanks for giving him your lemon square, that was a supreme sacrifice.
Melanie: Hey, what are big sisters for?
Melanie: Um, I'm going out for ice cream.
Daniel: What, in this weather, seriously?
Melanie: Yeah, seriously.
Daniel: Didn't you want to talk to me about something?
Melanie: I do.
Daniel: Yes, about Brady?
Melanie: No. Um...it's about Nicole.
Nicole: Okay, Dr. Mandrake. Are you hiding in... oh, my god. That can't be.
Mandrake: Yes, ms. DiMera? It's Dr. Mandrake. You wanted an--an update on Theresa Donovan. No. I can confirm for you now. She won't be a problem.
Brady: Hey, hey, hey? Anne put something in my drink, didn't she?
Theresa: Can I have my arm, please?
Brady: No, listen, I-I heard you talking to her, Theresa.
Theresa: You don't know what you heard.
Brady: I think I do because that cup batting move back there was pretty wild, even for you.
Theresa: Then file a report if you're so upset.
Brady: Stop--listen to me! You saved me. Didn't you? Which is pretty crazy, considering how much you hate me right now, so I would like to know why--why did you do it?
Theresa: Why do you care?
Eric: Serena, this isn't funny anymore, so what's the big deal?
Serena: The elephant mattered to me, I told you.
Eric: It's a souvenir, it couldn't be worth more than 20 bucks.
Serena: It's not about the money.
Eric: Then what? You're making this like it's a matter of life and death.
Serena: Well, it is to me.
Daniel: Okay, what about Nicole?
Melanie: Um, are you truly done with her?
Daniel: Yes. What?
Melanie: Well, I--I just--I thought she apologized and that you guys were friends now. Kind of.
Daniel: Mel--Mel? Why are you asking about Nicole?
Nicole: Do you really think pumping me up to your dad is a good idea?
Melanie: I don't know if I'd go that far. But I don't think it would hurt to tell him to give you a chance. I was just wondering. You know how when you get your feelings hurt by somebody, you say some really harsh things but then once you got a chance to think about it, you realize you miss that person and you wish you had given them a second chance?
Daniel: Okay, are we really talking about me or are we talking about... oh, you and Brady?
Theresa: If you're looking for a reason to go after Anne, I won't help you.
Brady: No--forget Anne, forget Anne. I don't even know it was her.
Theresa: You heard?
Brady: I don't know who you were talking to.
Brady: Could have been anybody that came through that waiting room and spiked my drink. All right, listen, I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble, but what I do want to know is why you did what you did. Why did you stop me from drinking?
Theresa: Do you really think that I would let you? You know, I knew you hated me, Brady, but I didn't really realize until this exact minute how little you actually thought of me.
Brady: Hold on.
Theresa: How low you think.
Theresa: Do you really not get why I did it?
Kayla: Don't worry. Sonny's gonna be all right. Um, he's on a lot of meds and when patients have that kind of combination, a lot of times they have very vivid dreams.
Kate: Well, shouldn't we wake him up?
Kayla: No, no. I think it'd be best if he slept through the night.
Kate: So, Kayla. How is sonny doing, really?
Kayla: Well, he's going to recover. In fact, I think they might be sending him home pretty soon.
Kate: Good. Then we were lucky. Anyway, let me leave him a note. Okay. Oh...have you read this article?
Kayla: Yeah, it's quite a piece.
Kate: Yeah. Yeah. I'm sure it's gonna go national.
Kayla: I'm really glad that Paul felt comfortable coming out to the world.
Kate: Yeah. Will did an amazing job. Has sonny read the article yet?
Paul: Do you want to get together? To talk--just to talk, that's it.
Will: I can't. I'm putting my daughter to bed.
Paul: You and sonny have a daughter.
Will: Yes, we do. And I need to stay with her right now.
Paul: For what it's worth, I am so, so sorry.
Will: So am I.
[Knock at door]
Marlena: Ooh, ooh.
Marlena: Hi, sweet girl. Hi, honey bun. I just thought I'd come over and see if I could...I don't know, help.
Will: I wish you could. Grandma, I've really made a mess of things.
Serena: I know this seems ridiculous and if you've lost the elephant for good, I'll forget about it. But would it really be that big of a deal for you to try to get it back for me?
Eric: You know what, take it.
Daniel: No, no, no, I couldn't take this.
Eric: Come on, now. Honestly, I have so many things like this that I don't even have room for. You'd actually be doing me a favor. No, no, no--it probably won't be that big of a deal to get it back.
Melanie: Brady and I are fine. This is really about you and Nicole.
Daniel: And why?
Melanie: Something went out in you when you kicked her out.
Daniel: Okay, when did you become a Nicole fan, I--
Melanie: When I saw you guys together. And I kept thinking about how when I would fight with my mom, you told me you can't throw away people you care about.
Daniel: And you don't want me to do that with Nicole?
Melanie: Not if you guys can figure out a way to...fix your problems.
Daniel: Parker? What is that I hear? What? Okay, no, I gotta get him to sleep--no more sugar.
Daniel: I--lemon squares in this house banned.
Melanie: All right, yeah. Okay, I'm headed out, by the way.
[Cell phone chimes]
Melanie: That was really fast. Did you find something?
Nicole: I did. How soon can you get here?
Melanie: I'm on my way.
Brady: I didn't say that you were that low or--or--or--
Theresa: But you think I would just let somebody sabotage you?
Brady: I'm just surprised that you would see it that way.
Theresa: Maybe I didn't get it when we first started going out. I mean, look, I knew... you were in recovery, but they said the same thing about me. I had to go to those meetings but I could take it or leave it.
Brady: Yeah, you always could.
Theresa: Took me awhile to realize that it really was different for you. That you couldn't just have one drink or you couldn't just have one line...and stop. I should have cared more about that.
Brady: I had to care first.
Theresa: I didn't have to make it so easy for you to stay wasted. And then Brady, that awful night with your dad. Just knowing that it could have been just a terrible, needless tragedy. Something changed in me. And that's why I stopped. And I know...too little, too late, but I just...I thought you realized that I do understand. I mean, I know we've been hating on each other a lot lately, Brady, but I'm not stupid.
Brady: Nobody would ever call you stupid.
Theresa: Yeah, but you think that I'm such a monster. That I would have no trouble just standing by and watching you be destroyed. With psoriatic arthritis, I had intense joint pain that got worse and worse.
Kate: Thank you so much for taking such good care of sonny. I heard that you're a real star in the operating room.
Kayla: Well, we got lucky. Take care, okay?
Kayla: Shh, sonny. It's okay, go back to sleep. Go back to sleep, shh.
Kate: Oh, honey, I am so sorry I woke you up. Listen to your doctor, I'll be back later.
[Cell phone rings]
Kayla: Sorry. Sorry, I gotta go, okay. Listen.
Kate: All right, all right. As happy as I am to see you, you really need to listen to her, okay? I'll be back.
Sonny: Hey, stay. I want to talk to you about will's article. And Paul Narita.
Marlena: Will? What's going on?
Will: Do you know in my article, Paul talks about this guy. This amazing man that proposed marriage to him and then slipped through his fingers?
Will: It was sonny.
Marlena: I see.
Will: I had no idea. Paul never told me his name. And if he had, I never would have...
Will: I messed up so bad. I don't know how or why. I knew Paul was gay. I knew Paul was gay and I wanted him to say it. So that I could put it in the article. Maybe that's why I...
Marlena: Why you what?
Will: Why I...I slept with him. Once. But that's all it took. Sonny thinks that I did it on purpose because Paul was his ex, but I didn't. Paul never mentioned him, sonny never told me about Paul. Paul didn't even know that I was married.
Marlena: Well, how could he not know that?
Will: Because I didn't wear my ring when we met. The editors at Sonix were afraid that he'd be weirded out if I talked about my husband. How could I do this to my family, grandma?
Eric: Hey, Kayla, hi.
Kayla: I'm so glad you answered.
Eric: Something wrong?
Kayla: I need you at the hospital as soon as possible.
Nicole: There is definitely something sketchy about your Dr. Mandrake. Check it out.
Melanie: So you found his tax records but what can you tell from that--that he pads his expenses?
Nicole: Oh, honey. It's a lot worse than that. Look.
Brady: Of course I don't--I don't think you're a monster, Theresa. I mean, no matter how mad I got, and I got mad...I knew you never meant me any harm.
Theresa: Huh, yeah, especially when there was no percentage in it for me?
Brady: I guess I had just forgotten that there were actually times that you did care about me. Oh, what do you want? I mean, I was...stoned and high most of the time. I wasn't the most observant guy in the world. Thank you for...having my back tonight.
Theresa: Sure. Were we just, um...civil?
Brady: Uh, downright decent. Maybe even nice.
Theresa: Sounds like we could call it A...
Brady: Truce? I'd like that.
Theresa: Me too. Maybe we could even start again. What do you say?
Kayla: She's been touch and go all day, but we've tried to make her as comfortable as possible.
Eric: Why didn't I know sister Elaine was this sick?
Kayla: Well, apparently, she didn't want to bother anybody. But she knows she's dying and now she's asking for you.
Eric: I can't give last rites.
Kayla: No, she knows that. Uh, father Louie has already taken care of that, but one of her last requests was to see her good friend, Eric. And really--I--I don't know how much time she has left.
Eric: All right, I'll see you soon. Bye. I, uh, I need to go to the hospital. I'm sorry.
Serena: No, of course. No, go--go ahead. I'll get dressed and be right behind you, okay?
Daniel: Parker, this is your last one. You are gonna be getting up all night long. Aren't you just a little bit sleepy?
Daniel: Oy, I have got to find a way to get you to sleep. Oh, look at that. Your sister's phone. Huh. She must be in a hurry.
Nicole: There he is. Prestigious university job, private practice income, his own fertility clinic, yada, yada, yada. Then look. He disappears for a year.
Melanie: So he took a sabbatical?
Nicole: Uh-uh. Okay, look--here he is again, right, no longer a professor. No clinic, but somehow he's quadrupled his salary and that's assuming he reported everything.
Melanie: So who is he working for?
Nicole: Well, I mean, he's reporting income from these companies. They issued 1099s to him, but they're untraceable.
Melanie: So they're shell corporations?
Nicole: Looks like. Dr. Mandrake went off the reservation, but he's still trying to make it look legit. I mean, I--I--I might be able to dig up more.
Melanie: Great. Yeah.
Nicole: Melanie...you haven't told me anything about why you're tracking this guy. Now--now don't get me wrong, I really do appreciate it and--and thank you. But if I'm gonna do anything else for you, I need to know what's going on.
Brady: You want to start over? But I'm--I'm with--I'm with Mel now.
Theresa: Oh, my god, no. I didn't mean like that. I just--I know--I know you're-- I-- I meant as friends.
Brady: Okay. Right--right. And you're--and you're with that--that guy, um...
Theresa: Actually, I ended it.
Brady: You all right?
Theresa: I'm fine. I'm great. I'm the one who dumped him.
Brady: Well, regardless of who dumped who, endings usually...well, they suck. So I'm sorry.
[Cell phone rings]
Brady: Um, excuse me.
Daniel: Hey, is my daughter with you?
Brady: No, no, Mel's not here. Is everything okay with her?
Paul: I realized that no other guy can make me stop loving you. And that will never change.
Sonny: I didn't tell you to sleep with my husband. Mother? What are you doing here?
Marlena: Do you want this to work out?
Will: Of course, I do. I'm just afraid he's never gonna forgive me. He doesn't understand how I could betray him, and I don't either.
Marlena: Well, honey, it happens. Even with the best of intentions. We're just--we're human.
[Knock at door]
Will: Oh. It's the sitter. I--I'm gonna have her stay with Ari the whole night. So that way I can be with sonny at the hospital when he wakes up.
Marlena: That's good.
Will: Well, I don't know if he'll think so. But I won't give up. I have to make him understand.
Kate: Wow, your husband really outdid himself with that article, I'm telling you. It got a big response. I think the editor should give him a big raise.
Sonny: I know.
Kate: I mean, it's really nice to have good news in the midst of--
Sonny: Kate. Will you stop it? Just stop it. I know about will and Paul. So do you. When I walked in on you and will that day, you were saying he could never tell me the truth. It was about this, wasn't it? Will's affair. You convinced my husband to lie to me.
Daniel: Well, Mel said she was going to get ice cream and given that it's five degrees, I figured it was an excuse and she was coming to see you.
Brady: No, we're--we're meeting up later. Did you try to call her or text her?
Daniel: No, her phone's here. You know, it's no big deal. I'm just having trouble getting parker to sleep and she has this magical technique that always seems to work, so I need her to share ASAP.
Brady: I'll have her call you when I see her.
Daniel: Great, thanks. Oh, and tell her that I have her phone. So she doesn't freak out when she finds out it's missing. Okay, parker--parker, don't touch that. Okay, all right, I gotta go. I gotta go.
Theresa: I have to go.
Brady: What--hold up. Theresa--hey, hey. Why don't--why don't we finish what we were--
Theresa: No, no, we're done, Brady. Just go find your girlfriend and do...whatever you do, okay?
Brady: Hey, Theresa. Let's--let's continue this--
Theresa: No, seriously. Brady, it's fine, it's--it's no problem. It's...just forget it, Brady. Okay, forget everything that happened tonight. I know I will.
Melanie: Truth? I don't really know what it's about.
Nicole: Well, you didn't just pull the name Dr. Mandrake out of a hat.
Melanie: No, I know. I know, no--I just--none of this is making sense.
Nicole: If this guy is a threat to Daniel or Brady--
Melanie: No, he--he's not. This has nothing to do with them.
Nicole: Okay, but I still... if I'm gonna do anything else for you--
Melanie: I know, you have to tell my dad.
Nicole: Yes. Because I cannot have this blow up on me.
Melanie: You really do love him.
Melanie: What, are you gonna deny it?
Nicole: No, I--no.
Melanie: I spoke to him about you tonight.
Nicole: Talk about burying the lede. All right, what happened? Do I really want to know?
Melanie: He listened. Well, he didn't tell me to shut up...completely.
Nicole: Oh, boy.
Melanie: I don't know--I, um, for now, I--I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Daniel: You like that guy, huh?
Daniel: Yeah, you're getting sleepy?
Parker: Don't take Fred.
Daniel: Okay. Fred, huh? Yeah...okay. It's a miracle. Well, Fred, maybe you do bring good luck.
Kayla: Hi--oh, listen. I am sorry to have interrupted your night.
Serena: No, it's--it's okay.
Kayla: Uh, you know, he might be there all night.
Serena: He still lives for this, doesn't he? Be right there until the end.
Kayla: Yep. That's Eric.
Serena: He's such a good person, and...
Kayla: Are you all right?
Serena: Yeah, I just... I feel really ashamed about how I behaved earlier tonight. We were having such a--a nice evening and then I started pestering him about giving me this small trinket that we bought together in Africa. It just seems so petty given what he's doing in there. I mean, I feel like such a school girl who's attached to this thing. It reminded me of Eric.
Kayla: Well, it sounds like it was pretty important to you too.
Serena: Well, it doesn't sound like it to Eric. I couldn't make him understand that it was really about him and how much he means to me.
Kayla: Well, as great as Eric is, he's still a man. So maybe he just needs a little time to think about it. He'll see it that way.
Paul: I can't believe you're here, I mean, how did you find me?
Tori: They told me at the hotel that you might be here.
Paul: No, I mean why are you in Salem?
Tori: I saw the article. This is a difficult time for you, yes? So your mother's here to help. I've come to take you home.
Kate: You need to get some rest.
Sonny: I need the truth. You knew, didn't you?
Kate: I knew that will was upset about something.
Sonny: Just don't. Don't.
Kate: Yes. He told me. Indirectly. Because he was--he was wrecked, sonny, he was just torn up with guilt.
Sonny: And you think he shouldn't have been?
Kate: No, I didn't say that. I didn't say that, and... this might sound horrible, and it might sound like I'm trying to justify it, but I didn't think he should tell you because what happened with Paul meant nothing to him. He just got caught up in the moment, he didn't think--
Sonny: You think--you think this just happened?
Kate: Yes, I do. And he regretted it.
Sonny: Kate, will slept with the man I asked to marry me. You think that's by accident?
Serena: Please, god. Let Kayla say something to Eric. Let me hear from him soon.
Kayla: How is she?
Eric: Well, she's not saying much. I--I hope I was some...help, you know. But, uh, do you know where Serena is?
Kayla: Yeah, I convinced her to go back to her hotel.
Kayla: She said that she was feeling kind of guilty and silly for something that happened between the two of you earlier tonight.
Eric: Yeah. I was feeling kind of stupid too. I just don't know what's going wrong with me, 'cause when I was a priest, I had much more perspective.
Kayla: Wasn't a big fight, was it?
Eric: No, it was just this little thing that Serena wanted.
Kayla: Well, I'm sure the two of you will work it out. I'm gonna go check on sister Elaine myself.
[Cell phone vibrates]
Eric: Hey, this a good time?
Daniel: Uh, well, yeah, actually I just got parker to bed, finally. Oh, actually, it was Fred.
Eric: Uh, who?
Daniel: Your elephant, who I was just told is named Fred. Yeah, yeah, I owe you one. You have mountains of electronics and fancy toys and that elephant is his favorite one. He's not gonna let it go.
Daniel: Okay, I gotta go. All right, I'll call you later. Bye. Parker.
Melanie: I'm not gonna give up, by the way. I mean, it's worth it. Isn't it? If you and my dad can patch things up?
Nicole: It would be. But Daniel's never gonna give me another chance.
Melanie: Well, come on now. You know how my dad gets. He...gets upset, maybe digs in a lot, but then over time--
Nicole: Okay, you just told me now to get my hopes up.
Melanie: Right, so maybe what I meant is it may take a little while.
Nicole: You really want me to keep digging on this guy, don't you?
Melanie: No. Actually...I don't know. I--I should go.
Nicole: Well, wait a minute. If Dr. Mandrake was important enough to investigate in the first place, then maybe we should...
Melanie: Yeah. I don't know if it matters enough to go on.
Nicole: This really isn't about Daniel or Brady, is it?
Melanie: No. But thank you so much for helping.
Nicole: Who is this about?
Melanie: Theresa. And how much do either of us want to think about her?
Theresa: Girl, you have no pride. Are you serious, that jerk disconnected his number? Well, guess I have more pride than I thought. By default. Well, I guess I could clean tonight. That'll pass the time. Well, that's definitely Clint's handwriting. So, who are you cell, huh? Girlfriend? Wife? No, it doesn't matter. I don't care, I don't... I don't need Clint. I don't need anyone.
Paul: Mom, it's so nice that you came all this way. Um, and it's so good to see you.
Tori: Let's go pack your bags.
Paul: I can't really leave.
Tori: Why not?
Paul: Well, for one thing, I've got two more physical therapy sessions.
Tori: You can do that in san Francisco. They have great doctors. You don't have to hide anymore. Your injury and surgery aren't a secret anymore.
Paul: No, but--
Tori: There's a late flight out tonight. We can still catch it if we--
Paul: Mom, no. I can't leave Salem. I don't want to leave. And there's some...some other things that I need to deal with.
Sonny: Did will leave out the part about Paul being my ex-boyfriend?
Kate: I didn't know that. And I can guarantee you, will didn't know that either. So that bastard seduced will as, what, some kind of sick pay back because you married someone else?
Sonny: Sounds far-fetched.
Kate: But sonny, you believe that will would--would seduce someone from your past? Why? What would that do, except hurt everyone involved?
Sonny: I don't know.
Kate: There is no way in hell that will would deliberately hurt you.
Will: But I did.
Eric: Hey. I, uh, I only have a minute, but I just want to call and say thank you for coming down to the hospital.
Serena: I was happy to.
Eric: I also wanted to apologize.
Serena: You don't have to.
Eric: Just to let you know, I, um, I tried to get your elephant back, but I can't.
Eric: Hey, I'm sorry, I have to go. I'll--I'll call you tomorrow, okay?
Serena: No, it's not okay. I've got to get that elephant.
Nicole: I hope Melanie's right. That I can wait for you to come around. At least for now.
Brady: Whoa. Hi, girl. Mm. Hi.
Melanie: Hi. Ice cream.
Brady: This was serious? Daniel thought this was an excuse for you to duck out. Do you know how cold it is out here, you want ice cream?
Melanie: Yeah, well, I'm hearty.
Melanie: Did you talk to my dad?
Brady: Yeah, he told me to tell you he has your phone.
Melanie: Oh. Oops.
Brady: So what are you doing tonight?
Melanie: Nothing. You?
Brady: Nothing. I don't have anything to do.
Melanie: Well, we should change that.
Brady: Yeah, we should change that.
[Cell phone rings]
Mandrake: Mandrake here.
Theresa: Hi, this is Theresa Donovan, and... hello?
Melanie: Who is Dr. Mandrake?
Theresa: Okay, what the heck is going on?
Tori: So I came all this way for nothing?
Paul: We get to see each other, doesn't that count? Let me get you some tea.
Tori: I'll get it. Rest your arm.
Paul: Dr. Evans, hello. Uh, this is my mother, Tori Narita. Mom, this is Dr. Marlena Evans.
Kate: This was a stupid mistake. But all that you have, the love and the life you have built, is bigger than that.
Sonny: Go ahead, will. Tell me again how it didn't mean anything and it wasn't your fault.
Will: This is my fault. This is all my fault. But none of this would have happened if you had been open and honest with me.
