Anne: Oh, and one more. Wouldn't want the tax man coming after you and your charity, now would we?
Jordan: Well, I'd better get to it.
Jordan: You can go.
Anne: Before I do, tell me, what is this I'm hearing about your brother assaulting a board member who happens to be your boyfriend?
Jordan: That's none of your business.
Anne: Yeah, well, honey, do you not know it is the talk of the hospital? I mean, really, the lot of you belong on jerry Springer.
Chad: Do you really want me to stand up in court and tell them that I told you your sister was better in bed than your girlfriend?
Abigail: You bastard.
Chad: Abigail, wait. Listen.
Abigail: I can't-- I can't even believe this. I defended you to people when you came back to town, Chad. What was I thinking? You-- they were right. You're still the same jackass you have always been.
Aiden: What are you doing back here? Aren't you supposed to be catching a plane?
Hope: I know. I know. But you're not gonna believe this. I--
Hope: Are you okay?
Aiden: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I'm fine.
Hope: Are you sure? You just--I don't know. You don't seem yourself. What were you doing before I got here?
Will: "Paul Narita realized it was time-- time to emerge from the closet because times had changed. He knew it, and..." [Sighs] It's just one big cliché. Couldn't be any more vague. [Sighs] It's not like I can write that. So what the hell do I do?
Sonny: Don't give up so easily, Paul. I mean, what if you could end up happy? What if this guy could make you happy?
Paul: Well, he's sweet, smart, hot...
Sonny: Oh, not that. What's--what's the problem?
Paul: The problem is he's not you. The biggest regret I have in my life isn't that I can't play baseball anymore. It's that I can't have you.
Theresa: If you want to know who your boyfriend was with, just get his phone and see who he's been texting. You'll have the name in a heartbeat.
Paige: I can't do that to JJ.
Theresa: Sure, you can. Paige, you'd be surprised what you can make yourself do if it really matters enough.
JJ: I told Paige that I never stopped seeing the girl that I slept with. So I guess in a way, eve, I told her that I was still seeing you.
Eve: You're an idiot! JJ, why would you do something like that? Now she's gonna try more than ever to know who it was that I-- that you--
JJ: Who? Say it, eve! Who I slept with?
[Printer clicking] Oh, that's the best it's gonna be. No one's ever gonna find out what happened between Paul and me. Now let's see what Paul thinks.
Paul: Please just-- just let me finish. I--I need to say this. When I lost you, Sonny, I think I just-- I--I went into denial. I tried making myself believe it was like losing a game, that there's always another one, right? I mean, I was a big deal. I--I could pick up the phone and ask for anything, the world. Except... I--I couldn't order up another you. I knew that I would miss what we had together. But I had no idea how much. Being with you, laughing with you... holding you... no one got me the way you did. And when I look back on it, which I do all the time-- maybe I'm just flattering myself, thinking I meant just as much to you.
Sonny: Of course, you did, Paul. Why do you think I asked you to marry me?
Aiden: I just started to get to work on the place, that's all. It's a lot of memories. It's harder than I thought it would be. What--what--what are you doing back here?
Hope: I took the kids to meet Shelly, and just as we were about to head for the airport, I realized I didn't have my passport, and it wasn't in the cab, so I must have dropped it here somewhere.
Aiden: All right, uh--
Hope: Yeah, I just sent Shelly on with the kids, so they can make their flight, but I'm certainly not gonna get to Tahiti without my passport. The question is-- I mean, where did I-- where did I leave it? Where'd I put it? Where is it?
Paige: What was I thinking coming to you for advice? Just forget I asked, okay?
Theresa: You're welcome. But, Paige, do you really think you can live without knowing who JJ was with? That's why you were desperate enough to come to me for advice, right? What, you think you can just go home, bury your face in a pillow, have a good cry, and just get over it? And the next day after that, it'll just all be flowers and sunshine, right? Wake up, Paige. Start living in the real world.
Eve: [Sighs] JJ. Now Paige is gonna be absolutely driven to find out who you were with. Oh, my God. Of all the stupid things for you to do.
JJ: You know, you need to stop calling me stupid. Because I have been stupid about one thing, and that is you-- you and what we did.
JJ: I know damn well what I've done to Paige. No--correction-- what you and I have done. And the only way that she'll know the truth is if we tell her, and that is not going to happen.
Eve: No, JJ. It's not.
JJ: So what I need to know is what are you doing to prevent Paige from getting hurt all over again.
Eve: What are you talking about?
JJ: I'm talking about Cole. You need to keep Paige away from that guy. Now, are you doing anything about that?
Eve: [Scoffs] You know, I've been a little busy, and I'm sorry that you're jealous that Paige is talking to some other guy.
JJ: All right, look, he's not some other guy, okay? You thought I was gonna ruin Paige's life? He's a thug and a criminal. And--
Eve: You're--you're what? [Laughs] We both know who you are, JJ.
JJ: Yeah, I guess we do.
Paige: [Gasps] Sorry.
Cole: Oh. Paige, hey.
Cole: You okay?
Cole: Hey. Thanks again for lending me your notes. You saved my ass.
Paige: Yeah. Happy to help.
Cole: You'll have to let me make it up to you sometime.
Paige: You don't need to do that.
Cole: Oh, but I want to. Seriously, anything you need.
Paige: You know, maybe there is one thing you can do for me.
Aiden: [Sighs] Hope. Um... I have not seen your passport. I gave you a tour of the whole house. It could be anywhere.
Hope: Yeah, true.
Aiden: So why don't you take a look in the dining room, and I will give this room the once-over, okay.
Hope: Yeah, it sounds like a plan. Thank you.
Aiden: Okay. Yeah, yeah.
Hope: Let's hurry, though.
Hope: I have a flight to make.
Hope: Success! Success!
Aiden: Oh, that was fast.
Hope: Da, da, da got the passport! I'm gonna miss the flight.
Hope: Oh, my gosh, this is such a relief. 'Cause I thought I was gonna have to tear this whole place apart.
Aiden: Yeah, yeah, me too.
Jordan: I am not discussing this with you.
Anne: Look, Jordan, everybody knows that I am overseeing your pet project, okay? And that the newest board member is your boyfriend and that your brother is that Adonis-like hunk who used to deliver the coffee. I mean, do you have any idea how many questions I field every day?
Anne: Right. So I could feed the hospital rumor mill with the truth or whatever it is that suits me. Okey-doke. Well, suit yourself. A word of advice, though, you may be all loyal to your brother and all that, but you have got a board member right here in your pocket. Don't screw that up.
Jordan: He is not in my pocket.
Anne: All right, well, wherever it is you keep him, you better get the two of them to call a truce... and fast. Good luck.
Chad: Okay, I know what I said was--was a hateful thing, and I feel absolutely terrible about--
Ben: It just slipped out, right? You know, every word that comes out of this guy's mouth is a lie, like how he claims he tried to ask the cops to drop the charges, but they just wouldn't take him up on it.
Chad: Okay, listen, Abigail, please, just give me a minute and hear me out.
Abigail: Why? Why? So you can, what, explain? Do you honestly think that there is anything you can say right now, Chad, that can make this better?
Chad: Look, I just want you to know where my head was when I said... look, I thought I'd lost Jordan for good. And I was angry at-- at myself. I have messed up every single relationship that I've ever had, especially ours. So when I thought that I lost Jordan-- I just--I lost it. And I am so sorry.
Sonny: What was the point of going over all of this now?
Paul: I'm sorry. Okay. I know you moved on.
Paul: I guess I just wanted you to understand, to know... I'll never make that mistake again... if I ever have the chance.
Sonny: There is someone out there for you, just like there was for me. When I lost you, I thought my life was over. But now it's better than ever. And I'm not saying that to hurt you, but to help you see that now that you're being true to yourself, things are gonna be different.
Paul: I hope so.
Sonny: I know so. You just have to be patient. Give it time. When you meet someone, just let it happen on its own. Meet him where he is. And if it's meant to be, it'll work out.
Paul: [Sighs] I love you, Sonny. I always will. I'm glad you're happy, truly.
Chad: Abigail, I didn't mean what I said. I--I wasn't thinking at all about the words coming out of my mouth. It was just-- you know, it was anger talking.
Ben: It--it was the anger talking. It was just your mouth moving, right? [Laughs] You're not actually buying any of this, are you?
Abigail: Just--can you-- can you just let him finish, Ben?
Ben: What else can he say? I mean, you heard everything you need to know the second you walked in the door.
Abigail: I know. Ben. Can you please just give me a minute alone with Chad?
Ben: What? Why?
Ben: I'm not going far.
Chad: Abigail, I know you probably hate me. And I deserve that, even though I never meant what I--
Chad: But will you think what this would do to Jordan if she heard what I said.
Abigail: Yeah. Jordan would hate you too.
Chad: And so you probably think I'm being self-serving and thinking about myself and not about Jordan.
Abigail: Well, I would, except for one thing, Chad.
Abigail: You never said what happened between you and Jordan that made you so upset.
Chad: It doesn't matter. There's no excuse for what I did.
Abigail: I know what happened. I know that you saw Jordan kissing Rafe. You didn't want to say that in front of Ben, did you? You left that part out. It was to protect her... wasn't it?
Paul: Mom, could you call me when you get home? I really need to talk to you.
Paul: I love you. Bye. Will.
Will: As promised, for your reading pleasure. I've--I've done better work, but...
Paul: Well, thanks for letting me read this before you send it off to Zoe. [Sighs] I guess this is it. There's no turning back after this.
Cole: Name it, whatever you need.
Paige: You know what? It's--it's nothing.
Cole: Hey. What's nothing? Want to cheat off me on the next exam?
Cole: Score you some weed? What?
Paige: No, it-- it's just... I asked someone for advice earlier, and this person said that I should steal JJ's phone and read his texts. Like, I'm just supposed to grab it, you know, enter four-four-four-four, and, what, have all my questions answered? Just saying it out loud sounds ridiculous. I'm not going to do that. Just forget it. It's a lame idea.
Eve: You know, I don't think anyone's ever looked at me with that kind of hatred in their eyes before.
JJ: I bet that's saying a lot, eve.
Eve: And I bet you think the only reason we ever had any issues was because of your sainted mother.
JJ: Well, you always did have a thing for men in her life, didn't you? You know what, can we just keep on topic? What are you going to do about Cole?
Eve: JJ... you just worry about yourself, all right? I'll take care of Paige. Because you have a long life ahead of you without her in it.
Will: I hate to rush you, but Zoe's already emailed me three times to see if I'm finished. Obviously, I'm not supposed to let you read it first. So it's been hard explaining what the holdup is.
Paul: I won't tell.
Will: Anyway, if you read it and let me know about any changes you want and then...
Paul: Off it goes.
Derrick: Your tea.
Paul: Thank you, derrick. You can just set it down right over here. Thank you. Ah, I'm glad he brought two cups. Do you like green tea?
Will: I guess.
Paul: It's kind of a ritual for me. I picked it up from my grandfather.
Will: Paul... do you think you could read the article now? Like I said, I hate to rush you, but I just-- I just want to make sure you're comfortable with the-- well, with the changes where I had to fudge the truth.
Paul: You know, I've been thinking. Why not tell the truth? You know, just lay it all out there. You and I slept together. Could you imagine what the cover shoot would look like?
Aiden: Um, okay, are you sure there's nothing else that you left behind?
Hope: I'd better have everything this time.
Aiden: Where's the cab?
Hope: Oh, I told him to come back a little later.
Aiden: Oh, why didn't you tell him to wait?
Hope: I figured, you know, fate gave us a little extra time together.
Aiden: Oh, yeah, yeah. That's--that's great, but it's an international flight. I mean, you know how they are. They want you there so early. So I have the rental car. I could get you a ride to the airport.
Hope: No way, but thank you. Thank you. I know you have a lot to do, you know, before you close on the house. And good-byes at the airport, they're always kind of sad.
Aiden: Yeah. Yeah.
Hope: I'm gonna miss you. I wish you were coming with me. I really am gonna miss you when I'm gone.
Paige: I should go. See you later, Cole.
Eve: Paige, wait. Yes. Excuse me. I'd love to have a word with my daughter.
Cole: It's okay. I'll see you later.
Paige: Okay, Mom, you know I love you, but you have to stop showing up here. Parents do not frequent the student lounge.
Eve: That was Cole Hines, wasn't it?
Paige: Yeah, so?
Eve: So I'm just wondering why my beautiful, bright daughter wants to make the same mistake twice.
JJ: Hey, Mom. I know that I've been kind of hard to live with lately, and... um, I'm sorry. I love you.
Theresa: So who's the new girlfriend, JJ? And how long before you cheat on her too? Hm?
Aiden: There you go.
Aiden: Yeah. What?
Hope: You seem a little edgy.
Hope: I know why. Aiden, you're a wonderful father. You're so protective. Actually, it's the first thing I really ever noticed about you.
Aiden: You mean, besides me being a jerk? [Laughs]
Hope: Handsome jerk. Listen, I know the last thing you wanted was to come back to the house where your... where your wife passed away. But you did it for chase.
Aiden: I owed him that, you know.
Hope: I really admire your strength. Honestly, I don't know-- in fact, I know that I would never be able to hide my feelings as well as you're doing right now.
Hope: Excuse me. Must be the driver. Right on time. Hi. Ooh, it's a little chilly out there. I'll be right there.
Don't rush. The bridge went out. We can't get off the island.
Hope: Oh, my gosh. The traffic report says the bridge won't open till tomorrow at the earliest.
Sonny: Hey. Can I get you a menu?
Derrick: Yeah, thanks. I've never been in before. Didn't know you worked here.
Sonny: Actually, I own the place.
Paul: Relax. It's a joke.
Will: Yeah, I know.
Paul: Are you always so serious? Or does just being here make you that uncomfortable?
Will: I thought we got past all this.
Paul: We did. But I wouldn't want you to do anything you don't want to do.
Will: It's not that I-- it's not that I don't want to--
Paul: I shouldn't have said that. I'm just messing with you, will. It's probably because... I guess I'm a little jealous.
Will: Of what?
Paul: Of you.
Paul: You said you're in love, aren't you?
Will: Yes. I am. Very much so.
Paul: Well, there's something to be jealous of... especially when you don't have it for yourself. Well, I guess I better start reading this.
Chad: Why--why would I need to protect Jordan? She didn't do anything wrong. I did.
Abigail: You were freaked out because you saw her kissing Rafe.
Chad: He kissed her. Okay, and I flew off the handle before I could even get the whole story. It was my fault. And there was no excuse for what I did.
Abigail: No. Mm-mm. There's not.
Chad: Okay, Abigail, what I said... I cannot tell you enough how sorry I am. Okay, I can't even believe that those words came out of my mouth, because they were cruel, and they were uncalled for, and they were untrue. I have a lot of things to make up for in my life, things that I can never take back. So I promise you that I will do whatever I can to get Ben out of trouble with the police.
Abigail: And this never happens again, no matter what happens with you and Jordan.
Chad: Never happens again.
Abigail: I really hate that you said that, Chad.
Chad: So do I.
Abigail: But I've, um... made a lot of mistakes in my life, too, and a lot of people have given me second chances, so I'm not gonna tell Jordan.
Chad: Thank you.
Abigail: But... as for everything else, you're on your own. We're done now.
Ben: Just get the hell out of here, Chad. Go.
Paige: Okay, I don't know what mistake you think I'm making, but Cole is just a friend, okay? I mean, if you can even call him that. We barely know each other.
Eve: That's right. You do barely know him. But that is how it starts, right? I mean, you are a gorgeous girl, honey, and--
Paige: Oh, mom, stop. You're overreacting as usual. Okay? Wait a minute. How do you even know who Cole is? Have you been talking to JJ?
Eve: No. Why would-- I have nothing to say to JJ. You know, I just heard you say his name when I walked in, and I remembered that your friend Mary Beth, you know, she told me all about that boy. I mean, he just got out of rehab, right? Honey, I-- what I don't understand is-- guys like that-- why do you want to hang out with losers when you could be dating somebody--
Paige: Okay, mom, that's it. I'm done, okay? You are not going to tell me what to do anymore.
JJ: I--you've got to find a new hobby, okay? Try playing in traffic.
Theresa: So what's the new girl's name? Or do you even know? Or care? You know, that sounds like you.
JJ: All right, we already did this once today, Theresa. Don't make me regret saving your life more than I already do.
Theresa: Oh. Ouch.
JJ: All right, you don't get to lecture me about Paige.
Theresa: This isn't about Paige. It's about you and me.
Chad: I brought you flowers the other day and never actually got to give them to you because... something happened. I understand if you don't want to take them.
Jordan: Thank you. They're beautiful.
Chad: There's another reason I'm here.
Jordan: What's that?
Chad: I have some bad news. I already told Ben. Um... the D.A. Is gonna go forward with the charges against him for assault.
Jordan: But I thought you talked to them.
Chad: I did. I tried everything. I even told them that I would refuse to take the stand. They didn't care.
Sonny: What can I get you?
Derrick: Do you have green tea?
Sonny: I do.
Derrick: You know, we've never actually met officially. Derrick.
Sonny: Sonny Kiriakis. Nice you meet you officially.
Derrick: So how was your visit with Paul today?
Will: Do you mind if I--
Paul: Sure, yeah. You know where it is.
[Cell phone rings]
Paul: Mom, hi.
Tori: I got your message. Is something wrong?
Tori: You sounded so serious.
Paul: Mom, I really want to talk to you about this, but... now's not a good time.
Tori: You can't tell me that you need to speak to me right away, then put me off and say that we'll speak later. Why the big mystery?
Paul: It's not that.
Tori: Whatever it is, Paul, please just tell me.
Paige: Okay, why haven't I told you sooner that you need to stop treating me like a little kid? Oh, wait. I have. But you just won't listen. It's like-- it's like nothing is out-of-bounds for you. You won't ever stop trying to insert yourself into the middle of my life. Mom, I'm not your little girl anymore. I'm an adult. I make my own choices. And, yes, that means I get to make my own mistakes too.
Eve: Honey, when I was your age, I made every mistake known to man, and I'm-- I'm just trying to help you, sweetheart.
Paige: Help me?
Paige: You are the one who ruined everything with JJ.
Theresa: Don't tell me that your memory's failing you already, JJ. At your tender age? You know, I was never really into high-school guys, but you were different. You were down for everything, and I kind of liked it. I kind of liked you. Gosh, how did you get so lame so fast? You know, I'd like to say that it was before my niece Paige--
JJ: Shut up.
Theresa: Was it after that? Or wait--it was after I OD'd, and you ran to hide behind Mommy's skirt. Or wait. Was it Daniel's skirt? I don't remember.
JJ: Theresa, I swear to God--
Theresa: You know, and then next thing I know, you told everybody that it was my fault somehow. What, I made you do it? Way to man up, JJ. You know, everybody bought into it. They just love the new and improved JJ... even--and, well, especially boring-ass Paige. What was it that you saw in her anyway, huh?
JJ: She was the opposite of you.
Theresa: You might think that's what you want. But deep down, you never really changed. And I know it. You are the same selfish bastard. You put your needs before everyone else's, and that makes you mean and unreliable and disloyal. I mean, even doing-- especially to your friends and your family and most of all, Paige. No, you are a player and a user, JJ. Why don't you own it? Save yourself and everybody else the trouble of pretending.
Hope: There's got to be a way off this island.
Wish there were. We're stuck here. Sorry.
Hope: [Sighs] Thank you for letting me know. Thank you. Gosh, I'm sorry, but... I'm so sorry. It looks like you're going to have an unexpected houseguest.
Aiden: Oh, no, no, no. Lucky me. Lucky me. I'm just sorry about your trip.
Hope: Well, I'd better, um, call Shawn-Douglas and the airlines, let them know what's happening. And I mean, at least the kids got off all right.
Hope: Glass half full, right?
Aiden: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, the reception's lousy in here. You might have a better chance getting a signal outside.
Hope: Okay. I'll--I'll give it a try. Thanks. Sorry.
Eve: Honey. I didn't ruin things between you and JJ. He did.
Paige: Okay. Do I need to remind you why JJ broke up with me? I was stuck in California because you lied to me about how sick grandpa really was. And I had to tell JJ that I didn't know when or if I'd even be coming back. You were doing your damnedest to keep us apart, and now you got your wish.
Eve: Honey, what, are you saying it's my fault that he ran off and slept with someone, huh?
Paige: Not just someone. Some bitch... who knew that he loved me. Look, I know what JJ did was really awful. But it never would have happened if it hadn't been for you.
Eve: Honey, come on. It would have happened sooner or later.
Paige: How can you possibly say that? Do you really think that little of me?
Eve: No, sweetheart. JJ's the problem, not you.
Paige: Mom, you are just as much a part of the problem. Between you, JJ, and whatever slut he's seeing now, everything's ruined. And I just-- I can't do this with you anymore! I just can't!
Eve: Paige-- honey.
JJ: Thank you for pointing all that out. You should have been a shrink. You know that?
Theresa: So which skank do you have lining up tonight, huh? Bev? Or is it someone else? I think I know how to find out.
JJ: You know what, just leave it alone, Theresa. I'm done with you, all right? Get a life!
Ben: You promised not to tell Jordan, didn't you?
Abigail: Whatever happens between Chad and Jordan is none of my business.
Ben: So you're fine with him hurting my sister.
Ben: You're not gonna defend him to me, Abigail. I can't even believe... you could stay in this room and let him try to explain.
Abigail: He's a jerk, okay? He's always been. He's the same jerk that he's always been.
Ben: Exactly. But you forgave him anyway.
Abigail: We've all done things that we regret. He didn't mean it. He was hurting.
Ben: That doesn't make it okay.
Abigail: Look, Ben, I get that you're worried about Jordan, okay. I do. I understand. But Jordan's an adult. And it doesn't matter what we think. She's gonna make her own choices. And you have to let her.
Jordan: Why would the D.A. Want to prosecute this case if you told them you wanted--
Chad: Something about me having an agenda. Look, I am not gonna give up on this. This is a mess I made. I overreacted, and I lashed out at Ben. It's my job to fix it, which is exactly what I'm gonna do. I promise you. You're busy. So I'm gonna let you be. I'll let you know what happens.
Jordan: Thank you.
Paul: Mom. It's not an emergency or anything like that. It's just... it's just something I've been dealing with for a long time.
Tori: Paul, if this is about your career, you don't have to make any decisions right now. Just because you can't pitch anymore...
Paul: This isn't about baseball, okay?
Tori: Are you all right?
Paul: Yes, I'm okay. [Sighs] The... thing I want to tell you is... it's something I've known for a long time, as long as I can remember. And it's something that I should have shared way before now. [Sighs] I just couldn't because... [Sighs] [Crying] Mother, please don't be disappointed in me.
Tori: I could never be.
Paul: [Sighs] You could. And you probably will be when you hear this. But you need to know who I really am. You see, I-- mother, I'm... I'm gay.
Sonny: I don't see a conversation about Paul Narita in our future. Sorry.
Derrick: That's okay. Gives us more time to talk about something else.
Sonny: I'm gonna get you your green tea.
Derrick: Bet you're having a good time right about now.
Sonny: What'd you just say?
