Hope: Hey, Rafe. I'm so glad I ran into you. Did you run the interrogation on Middleton? I have a witness that I think would be absolutely great.

Rafe: Call roman.

Hope: Yeah, I will. Can you take a look at this?

Rafe: I'm not on the case anymore.

Hope: Why?

Rafe: I'm off the force.

Chad: I'm not Jordan's victim.

Kate: Hmm. That's what she wants you to think.

Chad: See Jordan doesn't have a manipulative bone in her body.

Kate: Ha! Men.

Chad: Oh, that's right, see I forgot. You've been jerking around men for so many years that you think all women are man-eaters. Well, first it was my father. Then it was Rafe. Now it's this poor hillbilly, Clyde.

Kate: Clyde is neither a hillbilly nor is he poor.

Chad: Hmm, yeah, I'm sure he has the best saloon in Branson. He must be just rolling in the dough.

Kate: Hmm, well he could certainly teach you a thing or two.

Aiden: Well, what can I do for you, Mr. Weston?

Clyde: Uh, call me Clyde. But, listen, I know this is real small potatoes for a lawyer of your caliber, but I would appreciate your help.

Aiden: Well, you are in luck because I appreciate small potatoes.

Clyde: [Laughs] Good. I want to make a charitable donation. But the donation really needs to be anonymous.

Aiden: And why is that?

Abigail: Let me just say that I learned the hard way, the DiMeras are exceptionally good at twisting the truth around to get what they want.

Jordan: Abigail, why are you saying this?

Abigail: Because I'm--I'm worried about you.

Jordan: Well, you don't have to be. Here's a lesson I learned the hard way: When it comes time to protect myself, I can do it.

Sonny: She's out like a light.

Melanie: Yeah, I'll bet. It's a long hike to the prison for a little kid.

Sonny: Yeah, but it's important.

Melanie: Of course, no, she needs to see her mother. Look at this. Look at the way the baby looks at Gabi.

Sonny: It's always been like that. She loves her mommy.

Melanie: It's so nice that you and will can go visit her. You know, I'm sure it means the world to Gabi.

Sonny: And to Ari.

Melanie: It was a bummer will couldn't go.

Sonny: Yeah, it is.

Will: Are you sure you want me to stay?

Paul: Yeah, I'm sorry, don't, uh-- I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. It's just, uh...

Will: What?

Paul: It's over. It's all over.

John: Thanks for meeting me.

Marlena: Well, it was the least I could do after you saved me at Christmas.

John: Oh, Arianna. No, that was my pleasure.

Marlena: What do you want, John?

John: I want to start the new year off right. And the only way that's gonna happen is if you're at my side.

Melanie: Kinda sounds like you need a break, man.

Sonny: [Sighs] It's just kind of overwhelming. Running club TBD and then trying to get this new place on its feet.

Melanie: Where's your business partner?

Sonny: Chad's busy with DiMera enterprises and Jordan.

Melanie: Jordan?

Sonny: Ridgeway. She works at university hospital, I'm surprised you haven't met her yet.

Melanie: Yeah, no, I-I don't start until later today. He's seeing somebody?

Sonny: He didn't tell you?

Melanie: [Chuckles] No. I mean, yeah, he said he was moving on but I don't--he just wasn't specific.

Sonny: She's nice. I think you'll like her. She's Ben's sister, by the way.

Melanie: Chad is dating the sister of the guy that Abigail is dating currently? This is--this is complicated.

Sonny: I guess.

Melanie: And very Chad.

Sonny: Mel, come on.

Melanie: Sorry, no, you're right, no, he's--what--pfft. Whatever makes him happy. And her too.

Sonny: I know things didn't end well between you two, but I truly believe that he's going to do right by Jordan.

Kate: I just don't understand how you can let yourself be yanked around by--by a pathetic person like Tammy sue.

Chad: Okay, her name is Jordan.

Kate: Yeah, this year it is. That's her stage name, her alias.

Chad: Oh, like you used when you were a hooker.

Kate: Oh...uh-oh. I've hit a nerve.

Chad: I don't get why you care.

Kate: I care because she's a phony, and yes, maybe I do see her coming because I was there, but you need to pay attention, okay? You need to learn.

Chad: Oh, learn, okay, what is it that I should be learning?

Kate: Self-respect. You get yourself so desperately attached to these women.

Chad: Excuse me?

Kate: It's true!

Chad: I do not get desperately attached.

Kate: [Laughing] Really? Well, maybe you should ask Melanie Jonas and Abigail Deveraux. They might disagree.

Jordan: How much has Ben told you about how we grew up?

Abigail: Um, not much. I know--I know you guys had it

Jordan: Come here. I left the second that I turned 18 and I took Ben with me. He was only 13 at the time. And I got us away from Clyde, away from everything. And as hard as it had been, everything that we'd gone through, you have no idea how much we went through once we ran away. I had no skills. I scrambled for any minimum wage job that I could get to make ends meet, but we had no money. Not even enough for a cheap hotel. So, we lived in a car that first winter for three months with no heater. But, we survived. And we got ourselves up and out. So compared to all that, Rafe breaking my heart or Chad being whatever it is that you'll think he'll be, it's nothing. So don't worry. Okay, trust me, I have survived worse.

Paul: I mean, I always knew this was possible. But you never think-- I mean--I mean, it'll happen sometime, and you always know that, but... I don't know, you figure, you bought the ticket, you take the ride, and you're grateful for however long that time is. But once it's gone, it's gone, and that's just how it is.

Will: I--I'm sorry, but I'm not following.

Paul: It's over! I spoke with my surgeon this morning. My arm won't-- it won't heal.

Will: But I thought the surgery was a success.

Paul: It is if you want a normal life. A normal range of motion. Normal wear and tear. I'll never be able to pitch again. My career is over.

Rafe: Well, roman received an anonymous letter. And it said that I knew Gabi hired the guy that kidnapped Melanie.

Hope: What did you say?

Rafe: I said I found out after the fact, but never reported it.

Hope: You admitted that?

Rafe: Well, it's the truth. You know it is. You figured it out once Gabi confessed.

Hope: I only had my suspicions.

Rafe: Well, because you didn't want to believe.

Hope: Listen, you're a damn good cop, I'm gonna talk to roman.

Rafe: It's not going to help.

Hope: I'm sure he doesn't want to lose you either.

Rafe: Well, I told him the truth, and now it has to go up the chain of command.

Hope: He called the D.A.?

Rafe: He has to.

Hope: Then you're going to need a good lawyer. I know who to call.

Clyde: Well, this way, a lot of people who couldn't get to a doctor otherwise get taken care of.

Aiden: Well, now, that sounds like a worthy project. Why don't you want your name on a donation to it?

Clyde: Well, this is my stepdaughter's baby. She's working with my son's girlfriend on it.

Aiden: All right, well I still don't see the problem.

Clyde: Well, my girl needs to feel like she succeeded on her own, and I respect that.

Aiden: Okay, okay, well, you know, it's not hard to arrange an anonymous donation, I just--

[Cell phone ring] I'm sorry, I just need to take this. Sorry. Hey.

Hope: Aiden. I need a favor.

Melanie: So you think Chad has changed?

Sonny: I think he learned his lesson... after you and Abigail.

Melanie: How do you figure? He said the guy he used to be was taken advantage of.

Sonny: He said that?

Melanie: Yeah, he did, when I saw him, that's what he said. So, yeah, I think he's changed but I don't think it's for the better.

Sonny: What's he gonna say to you, Mel? He loved you and you dumped him.

Melanie: Dumped is dramatic. Was...there's a reason.

Sonny: I just don't want you to assume anything.

Melanie: Okay, all right, I'm sorry, I know he's your friend and your partner. I shouldn't have said anything.

Sonny: Yeah. He's a good guy, you know? He's good to me, he's fair.

Melanie: Okay.

Sonny: Seriously, he's so supportive of the new club, he--

[Door knock]

Sonny: Uh, that's probably the babysitter.

Melanie: Right, no, I--

Sonny: I gotta get going.

Melanie: I gotta go too. Hey, just, really fast, I'm glad if he's good to you, then he's--he's okay with me. Just make sure you watch out because people that get close to Chad usually get hurt.

Kate: Women were making a fool of you. You have undervalued yourself.

Chad: Your concern is touching.

Kate: Look, we can't afford to be distracted. To have you distracted.

Chad: I almost believe you.

Kate: You know those little girls? They were tying you up in knots and you let them do it.

Chad: Ancient history!

Kate: Girls like Melanie--I wish it were! Girls like Melanie and--and Abigail, they should be fighting to be near you. It shouldn't be the opposite.

Chad: Okay, you need to stop. Now. All right, you don't know me, or my situation--

Kate: Yes, but what I do know about you is that you faked a brain tumor to eliminate the competition.

Chad: Who told you that?

Kate: Sami told me that.

Chad: This is none of your business.

Kate: This is literally my business. You are my partner. Everything you do impacts our work.

Chad: Stay out of my personal life, Kate, or I'm going to make you regret it.

Abigail: Don't apologize, Jordan, please, I-I think about what you've been through and I can't even imagine.

Jordan: Well, you shouldn't have to. It's just that people think that they need to protect me and I don't get it.

Abigail: Well, I can see why. Don't worry, I-I totally get it. You can protect yourself.

Jordan: I can.

Abigail: This is why you came up with the hospital outreach project, isn't it?

Jordan: I've just been there, that's all.

Abigail: Which is why you are going to make this a huge success.

Will: I didn't think there was any question that you'd play again.

Paul: Neither did I. But to play again, we're talking about throwing the ball 100 miles per hour, 90 times in a three hour period. That's--and that's just during the game. It's just too much.

Will: Was your doctor sure?

Paul: He said I can have a normal life. Like that's a freaking prize! I'm sorry, I know it sounds like I'm--

Will: No, you don't have to apologize for anything. Paul, I can't imagine what kind of shock this must be. Have you told your family?

Paul: Not yet. You're the only one who knows.

Will: Well, I won't tell anybody, I promise you that. I'll come up with some reason to tell Zoe why we can't do a story on you.

Paul: Doesn't that hurt your reputation?

Will: [Laughs] Believe me, I can be convincing.

Paul: [Laughs] Well, let that be a lesson to you, will. Always listen to your mother.

Will: [Laughs] No, you don't know my mother.

Paul: Yeah, well mine was dead right about my contract. She said, "don't be greedy." She said "stay with your team, because they'll take care of you." But see I was a free agent! There was going be a bidding war--I would've made double or triple my money! God, I'm such an idiot!

Will: I think most people would've done what you did, Paul.

Paul: It's not like my team wasn't already taking care of me. God, I can already see the headlines. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Will: You know, there may be a way to get around that.

Marlena: I don't--I don't know what that means.

John: Oh, come on, I can't be that rusty. I just asked you out.

Marlena: You mean, on a date?

John: New Year's Eve, yeah.

Marlena: And you--you had to do that in person?

John: Why not?

Marlena: I don't know, just seems kind of formal, I guess.

John: Doc, I'm making a pitch, I want to make it a good one. And after the year I've just had--that we've both had--I don't want to take anything for granted, especially not you.

Aiden: Sorry about that interruption.

Clyde: That's all right.

Aiden: Well, Mr. Weston, I'll tell you what. Why don't you give my secretary all the particulars of the donation you wanna make, and I'll make sure it happens before the year ends.

Clyde: Well, it's not that big a rush.

Aiden: But don't you want the deduction? For your taxes.

Clyde: Oh, yeah, right. But I can use the deduction either year, so it makes no difference--that's good thinking, though!

Aiden: Okay, all right, well, I'll be in touch.

Clyde: Pleasure to meet you.

Aiden: Yeah.

Clyde: Never can tell when a man might need a good lawyer.

Chad: You know, funny, when, uh, Ben asked for the day off I thought he was going to be spending it with you.

Abigail: He is at Salem u, figuring out his school schedule with his advisor.

Chad: Mm, pre-med? Pre-law? A double major? He's going for quantum mechanics, applied physics.

Abigail: You know, you really are insufferable sometimes.

Chad: I was kidding.

Abigail: You think you're so much better than everybody else.

Chad: You know, actually, I was just told that I constantly undervalue myself.

Abigail: [Laughs] Yeah! Yeah, that's your problem.

Chad: I have nothing against Ben. He's the one who hates me.

Abigail: He doesn't hate you.

Chad: Sure looks like it. Or at least hates that I'm dating his sister. So do you.

Abigail: Chad, I--I don't care who you date. I was just worried about Jordan, I didn't want her to get hurt.

Chad: Past tense?

Abigail: Yeah.

Chad: You realized that I would never--

Abigail: No, no, no. I realize that Jordan would never. I have nothing to worry about now.

Melanie: Reporting for duty.

Maxine: Girl, welcome back! I have missed working with you.

Melanie: Well, I'm sure there are a bunch of troublemakers running around, causing, uh, you know, enough stress for you.

Maxine: Plenty of them, and all the wrong kinds.

Melanie: I missed you too. Um, I don't have to work for a couple of hours but I thought I'd get here a little early and get my paperwork done.

Maxine: Oh, and, uh, here it is!

Melanie: You didn't have to do that.

Maxine: Well, you didn't have to see Anne Milbauer your first day back.

Melanie: Eh. Well you are the queen, Maxine.

Maxine: Uh-huh, wait until you see your assignments.

Jordan: Maxine, I'm taking off.

Maxine: Okay, see you later. Oh, um, have you met Melanie Jonas? First rate nurse, back on staff after a couple years away. Not a moment too soon.

Melanie: Ah, don't you love how restrained she is. Hi.

Jordan: Hi, Jordan Ridgeway, pt department.

Melanie: You're Jordan Ridgeway. Really?

Will: I already have the makings of a great article about you. And we can take this news, incorporate it, maybe make it more about the risk of injury. How every player plays with it hanging over his head. How it can take away everything. We can talk about why you became a free agent. What happened, how you feel, where you're going from here.

Paul: I can't answer those questions.

Will: Well, it doesn't have to be the answer. Just enough to say that you covered the issues. And after that, you don't have to do any press unless you want to. On your terms.

Paul: Press on my terms. There's a concept.

Will: Look, I know this is really raw. You don't have to decide anything right now. Talk to your family. Talk to your agent. Think about it.

Paul: I will. You must be new at this, will Horton, because you are way too nice to be a journalist.

Will: I should get going.

Paul: Um, [Clears throat] I'll let you know, one way or another.

Will: For what it's worth, Paul, I think you're going to turn out just fine.

Paul: How's that?

Will: You just seem like the kind of guy that succeeds at whatever he tries.

Paul: I guess we'll find out.

Will: You have options now. Paul, you can be or do whatever you want.

[Cell phone ring]

Sonny: Club TBD.

Paul: Sonny, it's Paul. I really need to see you. The taste of light and fit Greek non fat yogurt

Marlena: Well, since you have formally asked, I will formally accept. I would be delighted to ring in the new year with you. Are you surprised?

John: A little, yeah. But I-I did think that it was going to be harder for you to turn me down in person.

Marlena: You thought I'd turn you down?

John: I wouldn't blame you, doc, especially after everything I've put you through the last couple years.

Marlena: Well, it's not just you, uh--we both have a hand in our problems.

John: Well, how about a year where it's not all about the problems? Aren't we due one of those?

Marlena: That would be so nice.

John: Let's make it happen. 2015. 2015. Could be the best year yet.

Marlena: Could be.

John: I'll be in touch.

Aiden: All right, [Sighs] You seem very resigned.

Rafe: I guess I am.

Aiden: Why?

Rafe: Well, my sister... she's in prison for killing nick Fallon. Yeah, she confessed to her role in Melanie's kidnapping as part of her allocution for the shooting, so... no reason to deny it.

Aiden: How about to save your career? Your job? Maybe your freedom. Rafe, did you have any idea what you were putting on the line when you agreed to keep quiet for your sister?

Paul: Sonny, I wouldn't ask except it's really important. 15 minutes please, that's all I ask.

Sonny: Okay.

Paul: Okay, thank you. I'm in room--

Sonny: I'm not going to your hotel room.

Paul: Fair enough. Um, how about that little place, off of the town square? Where we talked last time.

Sonny: Yeah, that's good. I can be there in ten minutes.

Paul: I'll be waiting.

Chad: You want to explain that?

Abigail: No, not especially.

Chad: So, you did have a problem with Jordan seeing me and now you don't. What changed?

Abigail: We talked.

Chad: And she convinced you that dating me wasn't like contracting the plague?

Abigail: Mm-hmm, no. She convinced me that she can take care of herself when you screw up.

Chad: Maybe I learned and I won't make the same mistakes I did with you.

Abigail: Oh, well, for your sake I sure hope you did. Because none of the crap that you pulled with me is ever going to work with her.

Chad: [Laughs] I wouldn't try.

Abigail: Why not? You have a whole, new arsenal of manipulative tricks?

Chad: Hey, why are you busting my chops about this? I'm trying to do things right this time. I'm actually the one who told Jordan we should take things slow.

Abigail: Oh, very shrewd.

Chad: I'm not calculating. I'm going with the flow.

Abigail: [Laughs] Yeah, right, no, of course you are. Yeah, sure. Until you feel threatened.

Chad: It's not the same as it was with us, Abby, there's no other guy in the picture.

Abigail: Really? Well, what about Rafe?

Maxine: Uh, time for my rounds. Find me when that paperwork is done.

Melanie: Roger that.

Jordan: Have we met?

Melanie: Sorry, no, uh--I'm just being weird--no, um, it's funny, I was just talking to somebody about you.

Jordan: Oh, really?

Melanie: Yeah, you're seeing Chad DiMera, right?

Jordan: I am, you know him?

Melanie: Yeah, kind of. Well--I'm--we--we were engaged. It's not a toy he wants this holiday.

Hope: Holy what! John!

John: Oh-a-ha-ha-ha!

Hope: Oh-ho-oh my gosh!

John: It is so good to see you.

Hope: Oh, my God, it's so good to see you--I just like--

John: Listen, I'm sorry I haven't dropped by, it's just it's so hectic trying to pack everything in during the holidays, you know?

Hope: Just don't tell me this is for a short visit.

John: Well, I hope not. In fact, uh, I'm hoping that I'm back in town for good.

Chad: Rafe's not in the picture anymore.

Abigail: Okay.

Chad: Okay, wait, why--why would you say that? Did Jordan say something about him?

Abigail: Chad, they were very serious.

Chad: Yeah, maybe. But it's over now. And Rafe blew it when he cheated on her with Kate. There's no way he's coming back from that, I don't care how many cheap tricks he tries.

Abigail: Oh, no. See, Rafe isn't a cheap tricks kind of guy.

Chad: Really? See, he tried to dig up dirt on me. It blew up in his face.

Abigail: What are you talking about?

Chad: Came up with nothing. He always will.

Melanie: I'm assuming by the look on your face that he hasn't mentioned me.

Jordan: No, uh, but we haven't been dating that long.

Melanie: Yeah, no, I shouldn't have said anything.

Jordan: It's okay. Everyone has a past.

Melanie: Not necessarily as colorful as Chad's.

Jordan: So, is it safe to say you two didn't end on the best of terms?

Melanie: I shouldn't say anything.

Jordan: Go ahead. I'm used to people trashing him.

Melanie: Do you think maybe there's a reason for that?

Jordan: Sure. I think people make assumptions about the name. But, the Chad I know is a thoughtful and decent guy and he treats me really well.

Melanie: That sounds like Chad. He's wonderful. Until he's not.

Jordan: Listen, I'm sorry things didn't work out between you two--

Melanie: Just, he has a dark side.

Jordan: Well, not anymore. At least not with me.

Melanie: Okay. I'm sure you know him better than I do by now. Just be careful.

Sonny: Hey.

Paul: Thanks for coming.

Sonny: Yeah, I mean, you said it was important.

Paul: It is. I--I've been thinking a lot, since you called me before Christmas. It meant--it meant so much to me.

Sonny: Yeah, I don't like the idea of anyone spending Christmas alone.

Paul: It was okay.

Sonny: Really?

Paul: Yeah, I mean, I-I spent, uh--spent the entire day doing pt.

Sonny: And that made you happy?

Paul: Your call made me happy. And that's what I thought about. That's what kept me going.

Sonny: I'm glad I could help. So...was that it, because I--I'm managing the club right now and I gotta--

Paul: You still care about me, don't you? I mean, that's what it sounded like anyway...on the phone.

Sonny: Paul, of course I still care about you.

Paul: But is that all? Because ever since I heard your voice in the hospital, ever since I came to Salem... I've had to face the truth.

Sonny: What truth are you willing to face?

Paul: That I still love you, Sonny. I never stopped loving you. Sensitive bladder?

Rafe: Seemed like the right decision at the time. Well, there's no point sending Gabi to jail for something that she didn't intend to do. So, I stayed quiet... to protect her. But she ended up connecting with nick Fallon and went to prison anyway, with his murder on her conscience. So, I'm done. I'm done playing God. Deciding when to tell the truth. I'm gonna tell the truth and-- and let the chips fall where they may.

Aiden: That's brave.

Rafe: No. No, the other way-- that was stupid.

Aiden: That's mitigation, Rafe. You tried to protect your sister. You're a good guy.

Rafe: [Laughs] Yeah, well, that and 50 cents will get you a cup of coffee.

Aiden: Look, I'm gonna do what I can. But I have to warn you, you handed the D.A. An open-shut case by confessing.

Clyde: So I hired Aiden Jennings to take care of that anonymous donation.

Kate: I thought he was a criminal lawyer.

Clyde: Yes, it's way below his pay grade but, you know, people speak highly of him, and I can use all the friends I can get.

Kate: [Laughs] Emphasis on "using friends."

Clyde: Why, Kate.

Kate: Mm, come on. I know what you're going to ask me next.

Clyde: You did offer.

Kate: Yes, I did. And I am going to do it. I am going to make sure that you have proper credit for your donation and I'm going to love to see the look on Jordan's face.

Clyde: Well, you be careful now darling. We don't want your fingerprints on this either. You might have to give up seeing Jordan's face.

Kate: Ah, don't worry about that, I can make sure that none of the news could be possibly traced to either you or me. And I'll still see the bomb drop. So you let me know when your secret needs to come out, and I will take care of all the details.

Clyde: Man, I knew we'd make a hell of a team.

Marlena: John and I are--are spending New Year's Eve together.

Will: Well, that sounds promising!

Marlena: We're just taking it slowly. And what about you? Do you and Sonny have some big plans for the countdown?

Will: Who knows?

Marlena: Doesn't sound like it's going to be very exciting.

Will: You know, chances are Sonny will just be working.

Marlena: Yeah, is that a problem?

Will: No, no, everything's fine.

Marlena: Wow, have you met me? That won't fly here.

Will: [Laughs] Okay, lately there have been some misunderstandings. But it's nothing serious and it's--it's getting worked out.

Marlena: Are you sure?

Will: Yeah. It's just been hard with us both being so busy. But once Sonny finishes, you know, opening his new club and I've finished this article, then things will get back to normal.

Sonny: Paul [Sighs] I told you.

Paul: I'm sorry--I--I--I didn't mean to just blurt that out.

Sonny: You know where I am in my life right now.

Paul: J--just hear me out! Okay, I-I promise I-I won't make a move. Unless you want me to, then...

Sonny: I'm going.

Paul: Wait, wait, please! I-I-I get stupid when I'm nervous.

Sonny: I make you nervous?

Paul: No! Yes! I mean, this! This makes me nervous. Please just--just hear me out, okay? It is important. Maybe for the both of us.

Sonny: Go ahead.

Paul: I still love you. I mean, that's never been the problem, I know. But now I think we can finally, truly be together. I mean, the way you always wanted. No secrets, no hiding. It can happen now. We can have it all.

Hope: My dad was furious to be the last to know. But I think after he spent a little time with Aiden, I-I think he's okay now.

John: Hmm. You really like this guy?

Hope: Mm-hmm. He's pretty special. I'd love for you to meet him. I-I mean, that is, if you want to.

John: Why wouldn't I?

Hope: Bo's a friend.

John: You're my friend. You've been through a lot, I know that you had a choice to make. I'm just glad that you're happy, hope.

Hope: Thank you.

Aiden: Any ideas who sent this letter?

Rafe: Does it really matter?

Aiden: Yeah. If the person that sent it had any idea what they were doing, then they really have it in for you, and you have a very dangerous enemy.

Rafe: Yeah. The thought did cross my mind.

[Door knock]

Chad: Hi! What a surprise, I was just thinking about you. How was work?

Jordan: Interesting, I--uh-- I ran into an old friend of yours. Melanie Jonas?

Sonny: We can't happen.

Paul: But everything's different now, I can--

Sonny: Look, I'm--I'm touched. I'm happy that you're finally ready to come out. If that's what you're saying. But it doesn't change my life.

Paul: I can change your life.

Sonny: No. No, you can't! Because I love my husband. I didn't marry him because I couldn't have you.

Paul: Of course you didn't.

Sonny: You know, like, what makes you think I'm--I'm just gonna pick up and... walk away from him?

Paul: I--uh-- wishful thinking.

Sonny: You're gonna take a really big step, okay? But you can't do it just for me. Come out for yourself. When you do that you are going to find the man that you're supposed to be with. Maybe even sooner than you think.

Paul: Sorry, I-I had to give it a shot.

Sonny: Just don't back away from yourself. You are going to be happier living the truth. I gotta get back to work.

Paul: Thanks for coming.

Marlena: Tell me about the article.

Will: Well, it's a profile of this person and it's taken an interesting turn.

Marlena: Is this somebody that I would know?

Will: Probably. Which is why I can't say too much more about it. I mean, we'll probably have to spike the piece but... if it goes ahead, it'll be huge. I really want to interview this guy again.

Marlena: Hmm, why?

Will: Well, I get the feeling he's holding something back. I don't know, but I feel like there's another story here. A very interesting story. And I want to do whatever it takes to find out what it is.
