Aiden: Oh... my goodness.
Hope: Hold on a second. Here you go.
Aiden: Oh, thank you so much.
Hope: You are welcome.
Aiden: There's a reason I'm not on the decorating committee.
Hope: I was on the decorating committee last year, you should be grateful.
Aiden: I am grateful, in fact it feels good to give back.
Hope: Yes, it does.
Aiden: It does.
Hope: Hmm, okay.
Chase: Ciara got of coming because she's one of the three kings in the Christmas pageant.
Owen: I thought you were in that too.
Chase: They wanted me to play a donkey so I quit.
Aiden: Well if you don't want to be a donkey, quit your braying.
Aiden: All right, fellas, come on, I'm gonna need your muscles, let's see who can carry the most food back from the car, okay? Come on.
Theresa: So, guess uncle Bo's just a distant memory now, huh?
Rafe: Excuse me, do you know where I can find Jordan Ridgeway?
Jordan: I am supposed to be working.
Chad: You are. I'm here as a hospital board member.
Chad: Part of my job is to ensure that the staff is happy.
Jordan: I am very happy.
Chad: Good. Hey look, I know yesterday was rough with your step-dad. I didn't mean to be cavalier about it. It must've been very upsetting to see Kate crawl out of Clyde's bed and--
Clyde: Next time you stay over, I'll make you breakfast.
Kate: You don't have a kitchen.
Clyde: Oh, you'd be surprised what I can whip up with a hot plate.
Kate: You are full of surprises.
Clyde: Eh, full of something, anyway.
Kate: Speaking of, we never finished our conversation last night.
Clyde: What conversation was that?
Kate: Well, you said that you weren't going to be buying a place in Salem but you were thinking of doing something else with your funds. Care to share?
[Knocking on door]
Abigail: Hi, what happened to you, weren't we supposed to meet at the park?
Ben: I'm sorry, I slept through my alarm, I was literally just about to text you.
Abigail: Ben. I think we can still get a whole loop in if we leave right now. Yeah, you ready?
Ben: Just about.
Abigail: What? Both: Oh!
Jennifer: Hi, Paige. Hi honey.
Jennifer: How are you?
Jennifer: Good. Are you so happy that you're finishing your semester?
Paige: Yeah, I enjoyed my classes but I'm ready to be done.
Jennifer: Yeah, I get it, JJ's really ready too. Uh, see you have that coffee there, wouldn't happen to be for JJ, is it? Have the two of you worked things out?
JJ: Where are you Paige? I don't wanna give up seeing you.
Paige: Which is why you don't want your mom to know.
JJ: Or anyone. And especially not yours. Because she is doing a happy dance because she thinks we broke up. And if she knew that we got back together, Paige she would say or do anything to keep us apart.
Eve: JJ. What's up?
Paige: JJ and I still have some stuff to work through.
Jennifer: Okay. Honey, I promised JJ I would not interfere, but, I just have one thing that I really need to say.
Jennifer: I understand that, while I was away, you learned something really upsetting about JJ's father and it probably had to be very hard to hear, just as it was for JJ to find out. But I want you to know something, that JJ is his own person. And what his father did, years ago, it has nothing to do with who JJ is right now.
Paige: I do know that.
Jennifer: Okay, good. And I know that things seem really complicated right at this moment, but if you're still deciding whether you want to see JJ or not, I hope that you focus on the choices that he's made and how much he really cares about you.
JJ: What are you doing here?
Eve: I'm just taking a walk, thinking about my future without music, without singing, wondering how I'll atone for that horrible mistake you and I made when I was so vulnerable.
JJ: You and me both.
Eve: So what are you doing here? Are you alone? Or are you waiting for someone?
Theresa: Relax, I'm just--I'm kidding. Geez.
Theresa: I don't know why men think that if they run out on you, you'll just sit around waiting for them forever. You know, I don't care if uncle Bo's out single-handedly saving the world, he never should've disappeared on you like that.
Hope: Theresa! Theresa! Since you seem to have so much free time on your hands, how would you like to help us distribute groceries? It would be a great way to get in the Christmas spirit.
Theresa: I'm full of Christmas spirit, I'm--
Hope: Afterward we'll have a chance to catch up, what do you say?
Theresa: Uh, is that supposed to be a selling point? I mean no offense, but I really can't handle you getting all detective on me and digging around with what happened with Brady. It doesn't really matter, anyway. You think that I lied when I told him that I was pregnant, don't you?
Ben: I like that workout so much better than the one we originally planned.
Abigail: [Laughs] Was this your plan all along? You try to lure me to your apartment?
Ben: No. But now that I see how this worked out, might get rid of the alarm clock.
Abigail: You know, we could still make half a loop if we leave right now.
Ben: But, if we just stayed in here instead--
Chad: Jordan and I are having a private conversation, you shouldn't even be here--
Rafe: Yeah, I'm here on official business.
Chad: With me?
Rafe: With Jordan, which doesn't concern you.
Chad: I'm on the hospital board and she's an employee, so if you've come here to harass her, then--
Jordan: You need me to sign the paperwork, right?
Jordan: One of my patients was an assault victim and Rafe needs a signed affidavit for court.
Chad: That's a little below your pay grade. Ah, my tax dollars hard at work, I see.
Rafe: Oh, since when did DiMera's pay taxes?
Jordan: Chad, you don't want to be late for your meeting, do you?
Chad: No, I don't. I'll see you later.
Jordan: All right. All right, here you go, now we can both get back to work.
Rafe: [Chuckles] Yeah. Okay. So just--hold on a second, okay. What is this about Kate sleeping with your stepfather?
Hope: I have no idea what happened, but I'm listening if you want to-- here, have a seat. Sit down. Talk about it. Let's talk about it.
Theresa: Okay, well, I mean, the truth is I am just so relieved that that home pregnancy test was wrong. I'm not really ready to settle down and have kids, and if I was, Brady black is the last person I'd want my poor kids to be stuck with as a dad, so...
Hope: Easy now, okay, 'cause Brady's a really good friend of mine.
Theresa: Well, he's a jerk.
Hope: Theresa, it's okay to admit that you're upset about this.
Theresa: Well of course I'm upset, no one believes me-- including my own family.
Hope: You know, your family's concerned, that doesn't mean we don't believe you. You went to Brady and told him you were pregnant, Kayla told him you weren't. That had to be difficult.
Theresa: Yeah, it was humiliating. You know, I mean the box said that it was 99% accurate so I don't know how I could've been so wrong. But that doesn't really matter now because I'm just glad that the whole thing is over with.
Hope: Hey, where are the boys?
Aiden: They are picking up the bushel of oranges they dropped by the fountain.
Hope: Make some room for this.
Theresa: Oh, allow me. Hey, happy food-banking. Just consider me your first customer, huh?
Hope: Maybe you'll stay longer, next time.
Theresa: I'll think about it.
Aiden: She giving you a hard time?
Hope: No, I think um, hmm, actually, she was trying to be nice... in her own special way, that is.
Aiden: Mm. Well, she better be nice to my woman, unless she wants to deal with me.
Eve: JJ, what are you doing?
JJ: I'm trying to think of a polite way to say this, but I wish that I never had to see you again. What happened between you and me is the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life, and I have made some big ones.
Eve: Well, I haven't been sleeping very well since we-- the two people that my Paige trusts the most-- and we betrayed her. And if she ever found out, it would destroy her, JJ.
JJ: I know that.
Eve: Well I also hope that you know that the only way to keep her from ever being hurt by this secret is to stay away from her.
JJ: How many times are we gonna talk about this? I have to go.
Eve: Good luck with your exam. Hope you pass.
Paige: I've been so busy studying for finals I haven't had much time to think about anything else. Actually, I was on my way to study with Daphne, so--
Jennifer: Yeah, I mean, I won't keep you, I just want you to know how much you mean to JJ, honey.
[Cell phone ringing]
Jennifer: Oh, here, let me help you.
Jennifer: You're welcome.
[Cell phone ringing]
Jennifer: Honey, what's wrong?
Paige: Uh, my mom needs me to come home right now. I wonder what's wrong.
Abigail: I really don't want to go to work, but I have to go home and shower and get ready.
Ben: Maybe I'll see you at the hospital. Gotta do the morning coffee run.
Abigail: Yeah, maybe, if you can keep it professional.
Ben: Excuse me? I take two things very seriously... coffee and you. That's it.
Clyde: My businesses are doing really well.
Kate: I know that. But I don't need a mansion the size of Memphis to prove it to myself, or anyone else.
Kate: Of course you don't.
Clyde: And I like this town. It's been very good to me. So I'm thinking of, maybe, taking a chunk of my profits and paying it forward.
Clyde: Make a donation that will make this little corner of the world a better place, for my kids and for all of us.
Jordan: Now I know why you're so upset and why you're really here.
Rafe: I'm not upset, I just wanna know what's going on.
Jordan: All right, I suppose you deserve to know. The truth is that Kate is the one responsible for bringing Clyde to Salem.
Rafe: You sure? I mean, how did Kate even know where to find Clyde?
Jordan: She hired a detective.
Rafe: To do what? To dig up dirt on me. Kate made it her mission to destroy my life. And I tried to tell you that that's what she wanted, but you always had an excuse for her, you always defended her.
Jordan: And now that bastard is back in my life, back in my brother's life, after we ran from him for years. So whatever damage he causes, going forward, that is all on Kate. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to work.
Kate: How very clever.
Clyde: Clever? How 'bout thoughtful and generous?
Kate: Building good will in the community will certainly pave the way if you want to expand your business, I mean, if that's what you want to do.
Clyde: Now I'm a bit disappointed, you think I have an ulterior motive.
Kate: Well, I don't know, I wouldn't be sitting here if I didn't think that. You want to do a good deed, but you want t benefit, as well-- I've done that many times, it's a win-win.
[Cell phone ringing]
Clyde: Something wrong?
Kate: Sorry, I have to cut this short. And, no, there's nothing wrong, it's just all the details of running a multinational-- anyway, I look forward to seeing you soon. I might have some ideas about that donation.
Clyde: Well I'd be looking forward to any help you'd be willing to give.
Kate: And, uh, thanks for the [Whispers].
Jennifer: Hey, I didn't expect to see you this morning.
JJ: Well, I had a break between classes, so--
Jennifer: How's it going?
Jennifer: Good. I saw Paige earlier.
JJ: Yeah, did you talk to her?
Jennifer: Barely. Her mom texted her and said she needed her home right away.
[Cell phone ringing]
Jennifer: Excuse me, that's my conference call, I need to take this in the other room.
JJ: Paige, are you with your mom?
Paige: Not yet, what's going on?
JJ: I'm sorry about earlier, but I was with your mom and I think she might know about us.
JJ: I don't know, but she was--she was acting just weird and my mom said that she texted you to come home.
Paige: Guess we'll find out soon enough.
JJ: All right, try not to freak out.
JJ: Call me after you talk to her.
Paige: I will.
JJ: All right, good luck.
Theresa: Um, what is the big emergency?
Eve: Daddy is going into the hospital.
Eve: They're going to keep him there for a few days.
Theresa: Oh, my God, no wait, did he have a heart attack? Did I stress him out? Eve.
Eve: Theresa, this is not about you, they're just gonna run some tests, it's routine, but, um, so I'm trying to find out what's, you know, going on with his stomach problems.
Theresa: Oh, okay.
Eve: Well, Kim said they've been thinking about doing it so it shouldn't be a big deal, but I want you to keep that part to yourself for a while, okay?
Eve: Well, as sorry as I am that daddy is sick, his timing couldn't be more perfect, actually.
Theresa: What are you planning eve?
Eve: To save my daughter, and I cannot do it without your help.
Hope: I have a great idea, why don't we sing Christmas carols? What do you think?
Hope: Not in the Christmas spirit yet, huh?
Chase: Dad can't sing and this is boring.
Aiden: Helping people in need is boring? I don't know where this attitude is coming from, but when I was your age--
Chase: I know, I know, you didn't have enough to eat, so you got people's stale cornflakes at places like this.
Aiden: That's right, I did.
Paige: Theresa? Hi. Mom, what's going on?
Eve: Honey, we need to go see your grandpa... now.
Jennifer: JJ, are you okay?
JJ: Yeah, yeah, just stressed about finals.
Jennifer: And Paige? Is there something going on between you and Paige that you haven't told me?
Chad: Were your ears burning, I was just talking about you.
Abigail: Why is that?
Chad: Seth burns just briefed the board on your big project.
Abigail: Which one?
Chad: Delivering subsidized medical services to the community.
Abigail: Okay, and?
Chad: He is extremely enthusiastic about the idea. And I made sure you got all the credit, of course.
Abigail: Well, thank you, that's really nice of you, but actually I--it was, um, Jordan's idea.
Chad: She's so modest she never said a word about it.
Kate: Thanks Harold, I know he's waiting. So, I got your text--which was quite rude, very demanding.
Rafe: Oh, well, I think that I have every right to demand answers from you.
Kate: About what?
Rafe: I know what you did to Jordan. I'm only in my 60'S.
Aiden: Chase, I want you to go grab the rest of the food and just be happy that you're on this side of the table, okay?
Chase: Yes, dad.
Aiden: I don't know what's wrong with him.
Hope: Ciara's gone through more than a dozen lessons about gratitude, as you know.
Aiden: Well, maybe it's an age thing, I don't know.
Hope: What chase said, I had no idea.
Aiden: About me being poor? Probably had no idea that I was runner up in the fifth grade spelling bee. Or on a good day--the wind is right--I can juggle up to six plates at a time, that's how good I am.
Hope: Wow, we should put you up on stage at the silent auction.
Aiden: Well, forget I mentioned it.
Hope: So, Mr. Jennings, you rose from humble beginnings to hot shot lawyer that makes millions, huh? I believe that's a story I would really love to hear.
Aiden: Yeah. Well, looks like we got our first customers. Welcome, welcome, step on up. How are ya?
Hope: There you go.
Aiden: There you go. How ya doin'?
JJ: I just, um-- I just really want things to work out for me and Paige. But I-- I just don't know if they will.
Jennifer: I know this is hard, honey, I want things to work out for you and Paige too, but sometimes you just need to take a step back and think about the things you can control.
JJ: Mom, I told you that I would see the therapist. Okay? I will.
Jennifer: Okay, you just need to give it a little time, okay?
JJ: I know you're right. I know.
Jennifer: I'm sorry, I need to get to work, all right, but you study, okay. Don't study too hard.
Jennifer: I love you, okay?
JJ: I hear you, Mom. But what if Paige and I don't have time?
Paige: What's wrong?
Eve: Well, your grandfather's in the hospital, sweetheart.
Eve: Well, the doctors aren't sure but they're running tests, but I need to be there with him.
Theresa: And I'm coming as soon as I possibly can.
Paige: That serious?
Eve: Well, he's downplaying it, of course, but that's what parents do when they do, you know, when they don't really want to worry their children--
Theresa: Which worries us more.
Eve: And I really feel like I need to be in California to find out what's, you know, really going on.
Paige: And you want me to come with you?
Eve: Well, your last day of school was today, of course, and the only final that you have left are just papers and you can do that from anywhere, right?
Paige: We're leaving now?
Eve: Yes, honey, I just got the tickets and we've got to hurry or we're gonna miss the plane--so let's go.
Chad: Ah, looks like the good stuff's here. I mean the coffee, of course. Well, hard at work. I like what I see. Great, well I'll let you both get to it.
Abigail: Chad was just telling me--
Ben: Oh, that's--that's okay. You don't have to explain anything to me.
Abigail: Thank you.
Ben: Anyway, I'm sorry I can't stay, I have a huge list of deliveries I still need to make.
Abigail: Oh, no, I understand, go, have a good day.
Ben: You too. Oh, maybe later on we can go for another run.
Jordan: Ben looks like he's in a good mood.
Abigail: Yeah, he is, but you're not. What's wrong?
Kate: So you've been talking to Jordan.
Rafe: It was you. You brought her stepfather to Salem, hmm?
Kate: Yes, I did.
Rafe: Yeah, you did. So you lied to me, you and Clyde, 'cause you both acted like you never met before.
Kate: We hadn't.
Rafe: Yeah, no, you hadn't, not until you dug into Jordan's past. You hired a private investigator, why? Why would you go to such lengths?
Kate: To protect you.
Rafe: To prot-- from Jordan? Right. Again, why? Why would you take that upon yourself?
Kate: Because I was the one who brought her to Salem in the first place.
[Cell phone ringing]
Paige: My mom doesn't know about us.
JJ: Oh, thank God.
Paige: But she wanted me to come home because my grandfather's sick.
JJ: Oh, I'm--I'm sorry.
Paige: I have to go to California and--
Eve: What are you doing?
Paige: I have to make arrangements with my professors.
Eve: Honey, you can do all that later, come on, we gotta get ready and get going--let's go, come on.
Eve: Come on, come on, come on.
Ben: Get you a coffee?
Clyde: No thanks, I had my fill at the pub. Hey, Ben, I get the attitude. I'm sure your sister's told you all about Kate by now.
Ben: You mean how she just so helpfully let you know that Jordan and I were both here in Salem? Yeah. So maybe now you can tell me something, if you're really trying so hard to be a better person, why'd you lie to us?
Rafe: What are you talking about?
Kate: You know what happened to you when you were in the coma. Stefano sending Bernardi to hurt you. That was all because of me.
Rafe: Yeah, well we've been through that.
Kate: When you regained consciousness, the doctors didn't know-- they didn't know whether you would ever walk again.
Kate: You were in very vulnerable place and I felt responsible for--
Rafe: Which you weren't. You weren't.
Kate: I was worried because the doctors wanted you-- they wanted you to work with a physical therapist, and I realized that that would be bringing in a total stranger who would have control over your life. And if that person was on Stefano's payroll-- I wasn't gonna take that chance.
Rafe: Okay. So what did you do?
Kate: I went to Kayla and I offered to pay the PT's salary if they would let me bring in a therapist from the outside.
Rafe: So, you hired--
Kate: Jordan Ridgeway.
Jordan: I was just thinking about a patient.
Abigail: Oh, well, this will cheer you up, I saw Chad a few minutes ago and he said the board meeting went really well.
Jordan: That's great.
Abigail: But he thought the community outreach program was my idea, since I'm in charge of the implementation phase. Why didn't you tell him that it came from you?
Jordan: I didn't want anyone to think that I was trying to influence the board.
Abigail: Oh, well, I mean you are influencing one board member, though.
Jordan: And you don't like that one bit, do you?
Rafe: But you were jealous of Jordan from the minute she got to town.
Kate: That's not true.
Rafe: So why would you hire a single, gorgeous-- with a--that's right. That's right, because when you read the name Jordan, you thought that she was a he. I--
Kate: My God, the fact that Jordan Ridgeway turned out to be a woman was not an issue.
Kate: Really. I was take aback, it's not the person I thought it was going to be, but truthfully, from the very beginning, I didn't think she could be trusted.
Rafe: Maybe it was just because you were jealous that we were getting so close.
Kate: Okay, you don't understand me, I had my private detective investigate her past. There was no past, no records on her prior to 2012. So then I think, what, was Stefano one step ahead of me the whole time?
Rafe: Okay, so you thought that Stefano was paying Jordan to, what--to hurt me? Or even worse, to seduce me?
Kate: I didn't know, okay, I didn't know. All I knew was that she was lying about her past and she had a secret, she had a secret that she was desperate to hide.
Rafe: Okay, fine. Then why didn't you come to me when you found this out?
Kate: Because I didn't know for sure! I didn't have the proof! And I didn't want you to think that I was going after Jordan just because I wanted you back.
Rafe: Were you?
Hope: Where's chase and Owen?
Aiden: Uh, I don't know, but chase knows better than to walk away.
Hope: You know what, I think I saw them head off in that direction.
Hope: I'll go find them, okay?
Aiden: All right, great.
Hope: You'll be fine here, alone, few minutes, can you handle it?
Aiden: I'll be good.
Hope: Okay, don't eat anything.
Lia: You got any cranberry sauce, the real kind.
Aiden: Uh, I do have some cranberry sauce and it has your name on it. But, you're gonna have to take it with some creamed corn because there's a package deal.
Lia: I know you.
Chase: Break time.
Owen: Are we almost done, I wanted to go to the rink tonight.
Chase: You could text your mom, see if she'll pick you up.
Owen: Maybe you can come with me?
Chase: My dad will make me stay till the end. He's always going on about giving back because he was so poor when he was younger.
Owen: I've been to your house, I thought you were, like, rich.
Chase: Our money was our mom's, we got it when she died. My dad, he had nothing.
Abigail: Listen Jordan, what goes on between you and Chad is your business. You're my friend, and if you think that Chad has changed, then--
Jordan: Well I don't really know what else he could do to prove to you and Ben that he has, I mean he's helped you guys so much since he's been back.
Abigail: I know, but it's just, you know--
Jordan: Well listen, just think what you want, okay Abigail, but you don't have to worry about me, but you're wrong.
Clyde: You know why I came to Salem, losin' my kids was like losin' my own life. Kate came to me with news I'd been waiting years to hear. I had no clues to what her motives were.
Ben: And what were her motives, Clyde?
Clyde: Well, I think she felt responsible for protecting Rafe.
Ben: From Jordan?
Clyde: It wasn't till she found me that she realized Jordan wasn't a threat. By that time, I think she was too embarrassed to let anyone know she'd gone that far.
Ben: Yeah, I bet.
Clyde: And I was so grateful to find you two again, I just didn't want to say or do anything to screw that up. I'm sorry I kept the truth from you. But don't be mad at Kate. She meant well.
Ben: Why are you defending her?
Clyde: I gotta admit, I'm getting a bit of a sweet spot for her.
Ben: You know, she's not from poplar bluff. If I were you, I'd watch my back.
Kate: As you well know, I was the one who broke things off with you. I never had any illusion that what we had was in any way, about a commitment.
Rafe: Clearly. But you sure have been committed to ruining Jordan's life.
Kate: When my detective found her stepfather, when he tracked him down, that was the first tangible lead we had. A link to her past, yes, I wanted to check it out to be sure.
Rafe: To be sure? Sure? Sure that what? Sure that Jordan, the woman who got me back on my feet, who gave me my life back again, wasn't a threat? And it--then you--you turned around and you threatened her. Oh, and for the record, your boy, Clyde, he made both Jordan and Ben's life miserable. But you know, now that that's why you brought him back, so that you could make her life miserable again.
Kate: Well, I've seen Chad and Jordan together and she doesn't look so miserable.
Rafe: Then I guess all that money you spent to protect me didn't go to waste, 'cause at least now you're getting laid by Clyde.
Kate: I have work to do, I think you should go.
Rafe: Don't worry, I'll go, and I'll stay the hell away, I'm just sorry that I didn't do that a long time ago.
[Knocking on door]
Theresa: What are you doing here?
JJ: I came to see Paige.
Theresa: Oh, sorry, you just missed them.
JJ: Well, when will they be back?
Theresa: I have no idea, bye.
Owen: Hey, there's my mom, hockey here I come.
Chase: Please, you can't tell my dad what you heard me say.
Hope: Why not?
Chase: He doesn't like people to know, and my mom, she would make him feel bad.
Hope: About what?
Chase: She'd say that he "didn't have a dime to his name when she married him."
Aiden: You know me? Forgive me, but I--
Lia: You don't know me, but I know what you did. You did a bad, bad thing.
