Episode #12439 ~ John makes an unexpected decision that stuns Kristen and Theresa; EJ lays down the law with Clyde; Chad tries to convince Abigail he's not a bad guy; Jordan is upset when she learns about Ben's actions.

Provided By Suzanne

Roman: "When asked about the events of that evening, Ms. Donovan responded, 'I'm not sure, it all happened so fast, john came over to talk to Brady and me. I--I thought I should leave them alone but then I heard john attacking Brady. And Brady, oh, my God, he-- Brady, he grabbed the poker. He was just trying to defend himself and he hit john across the head.'"

Marlena: John, is that pretty much what you remember?

John: [Breathes deeply] Is that what happened that night? No, not really.

Ben: [Whistling]

Jordan: Okay, what's the deal?

Ben: With what?

Jordan: With being so darn happy.

Chad: Abby. There was a hint of a smile on your face. Clearly, you weren't thinking about me.

Abigail: Hi, Chad. Excuse me.

Chad: It doesn't have to be like this, you know. But if father's angry now, if he's licking his chops to get back at EJ, then it is all on you. Don't shoot the messenger, Sami, just take a good hard look in the mirror.

Johnny: Mommy!

Sami: Oh, hey! Hey, sweetheart. Look at you.

Johnny: Isn't it time to go?

Sami: Go where?

Johnny: To will and Sonny's!

Sami: Why would we do that?

Johnny: For the party. The party for us!

Sami: Party? I don't remember anything about a party but you know what, if you don't want to go, I'll call them and tell them you can't go.

Johnny: I wanna go more than anything!

Sami: I know you do, me too! I was just teasing you. But you know what, we're gonna as soon as daddy gets back, okay? Sound good?

EJ: What is it?

Miguel: I thought should know, sir, Clyde Weston has begun selling his product all over town. Outside of the area you specified.

EJ: Are you sure?

Miguel: Very sure. Give me an order, Mr. DiMera. I'll do anything you ask.

EJ: Find him. Get him to the meeting place. Text me when it's done. I think it's about time Mr. Weston learned who's in charge.

Johnny: Tell Allie and Sydney to hurry. They keep changing their clothes.

Sami: Well, they are the guests of honor.

Johnny: Me too!

Sami: Well, I know that, silly. We'll go get them in a minute, okay?

Johnny: Are you and daddy just going to the party? Or are you just gonna drop us off?

EJ: We most certainly are going to the party.

Johnny: Daddy, you're home!

EJ: Yes, I am. Just where I belong.

Ben: What? It's a crime for a guy to be in a good mood?

Jordan: Oh, no, there are good moods and then there's this. See, I think you are forgetting, I know like a book. Something's different.

Ben: Jordan, it's a beautiful Indian summer out there. I just got a really great tip a little while ago. I'm happy, what do you want from me?

Jordan: No. You're in love.

Ben: [Scoffs]

Abigail: Well, maybe--maybe you're right. Maybe, it doesn't have to be this way.

Chad: Great--

Abigail: But it is, for now anyway, and that's because you set the tone when you got back.

Chad: Okay, I overreacted. And I also apologize for that.

Abigail: Yeah, yeah, you did. You did and that was good of you but still I--I think it was more like you let me know how you really feel.

Chad: Well, all right, so we're just stuck there? Look, I'm not going anywhere. I don't think you are, or Ben.

Abigail: Hm, Ben. There it is. I had a feeling we would get here so you know what, let me just, let me just say this, whatever it is that you think about me or whatever it is that you feel or don't feel about me, just, just, please, leave Ben alone, okay?

Chad: What do you mean, at the club?

Abigail: I mean everywhere. Yes, specifically, at the club.

Chad: Okay, so just now you said I told you how I really felt. Well, Ben's made it pretty clear how he feels about me and that is not the kind of respect that you come to expect from your employees, so... Sonny and I had a talk and--

Abigail: You bastard. All right, tell me, what is it, what did you do now?

John: Theresa... the way you described that night was wrong. It was so much more intense. So much angrier. I was angrier and if Brady hadn't picked up that poker to defend himself, I don't know how far I would have taken it, I was so out of my mind. There's no other way to put it, I was just in a rage.

Kristen: What?

John: Son, it was all me. You just did what you had to do to try to defend yourself. You're not to blame for any of this, son.

Brady: Really?

John: Oh, really.

Abigail: You've got a problem with me, and you're taking it out on him, and that's just so low. I should've known that when you apologized that you didn't actually mean it but you know what, he loves that job and he's good at that job. You're just gonna have him fired? No, I'm not gonna let you get away with this, Chad. What--let me go!

Chad: Listen, you've had your say. Now let me have mine.

Ben: Remind me why having a big sister is a good thing again.

Jordan: Oh, apparently, love means you can't take any teasing.

Ben: Okay, I never said that word. You did.

Jordan: Ah, you never said it to me but how about to Abigail? Oh, come on. It's so obvious and you know, it's really fun watching you try and deny it.

Ben: Oh, I'm glad I could brighten your day.

Jordan: Oh, do I need to remind you, I really like Abigail. She's been a real friend and I haven't had a whole lot of them.

Ben: Well, it's good to get your approval.

Jordan: That's not what I was getting at. I was trying to say don't screw this up.

Ben: Wow! Words to live by. Thank you. You know, I'm really trying hard not to, okay?

Jordan: You know what I would love for you two? I would love for you two to be crazy happy together. Come here.

Sami: So, we are going?

EJ: Uh, yes. William made a point of inviting us.

Sami: So, that's where you went? You went to talk to will? Is everything okay for the party?

EJ: Everything is fine for the party and also, for everything else.

Sami: Really?

EJ: Really. He's counting on us being there.

Sami: Okay, well, thank you.

EJ: Also, I have to mention I got a telephone call from Sonny on the way here. He wants to come and pick you and take you there himself. All the kids, in fact.

Sami: He doesn't have to do that.

Johnny: Yes, he does!

Sami: Why?

Johnny: It's fun going with him. He doesn't listen to old people music.

Sami: What! Are the '80s old people music? Don't answer that.

EJ: Huh. It's fine. You know, actually, I have a couple of errands that I need to do. So Sonny can take you and the rest of the gang and I'll just see you there?

Sami: Um, I'm gonna go get changed, I guess, for the party.

Johnny: Tell Allie and Sydney to hurry.

Sami: Yes, I will do that.

Johnny: They're such girls.

EJ: Yes, they are.

Sami: Oh, you're such a dude.

EJ: Okay, dude. Come on, tell me, how was camp? Did you have fun?

Johnny: I guess.

EJ: What do you mean, you guess?

Johnny: Did you go to camp when you were little?

EJ: I did. I went to soccer camp. It was fantastic. I had a great time.

Johnny: We played soccer too. Did the other kids make fun of your name too?

EJ: People made fun of the name, Johnny?

Johnny: No, my other name, DiMera.

Kristen: Wow... that was so emotional, john. What great news. So glad you're better, huh? This is really just a time for family though, isn't it? Must be such a relief for you to have that burden lifted off of your shoulders, even though I know that was difficult to hear. I know how worried you were about what you thought happened that night but see, I always knew that those fears were unfounded. It's great, isn't it? I mean, finally, all the questions about what happened that night have been answered. Must've been such hell to have that hanging over your head for so long.

EJ: Kids made fun of your name? Which kids?

Johnny: Older ones. One of them said their dad knew all about us. I didn't know what that meant. But they're all kind of laughing at me, until the counselor made them stop.

EJ: Johnny... you have a very special last name. Now, it's a name to be proud of. People, sometimes they say things, you don't always know why. Sometimes they say things just to be mean... and I can't promise you that it won't happen again. As you get older, people are going to recognize your name and they are going to react in a certain way. But don't worry about them because they could just as easily be thinking about your Nonno or me. You be your own man. You be a good man and people will respect you for who you are. It doesn't matter what your last name is.

Johnny: Of course it'll matter, daddy. I got my name from you.

Clyde: Hey, I'm sorry to interrupt. I just, uh, wanted to check in with you, son. Make sure everything's okay.

Ben: Yeah, it's fine. Everything's fine.

Clyde: Good. Well, if you need anything else, you be sure to let me know, all right? I want you to know, I'm here for you. And Jordan, I'm glad to see you too. You looked real happy when I came in. I hope things are looking up for you.

Jordan: "If you need anything else," what was that about?

Ben: It was nothing.

Jordan: No, "nothing," he was way too happy for that to be "nothing."

Ben: I borrowed a little money from him, okay?

Jordan: You borrowed money, why?

Abigail: You are trying to take Ben's job away from him so I don't really care what you have to say--

Chad: Okay, listen to me. Ben has nothing to worry about. He's not gonna lose his job, all right? I'm the one that's taking a step back at the club.

Abigail: What? But--

Chad: See what happens when you actually listen? You find out all sorts of interesting things.

Abigail: You're taking a step back, what does that mean?

Chad: I--I talked to Sonny and told him that Ben and I weren't a good mix. Ya know, Sonny had said that Ben and t have been doing a really great job so I thought about it and I realized that the club had been doing great without me. So, I decided not to go back.

Abigail: I see.

Chad: I was really looking forward to it. Getting involved again. But it's Sonny's place now. Ya know, so, we reworked the partnership deal. I'll take a lower percentage, Sonny will get a bigger cut.

Abigail: Are you really gonna do this?

Chad: You can't be gone as long as I have and expect everything to stay the same as when you left, right?

Abigail: Right...right. Well, uh, I, um... I should go.

Chad: Um, look, I get it, my stock's not too high with you right now.

Abigail: Well, maybe it just went up.

Chad: Oh, yeah?

Abigail: A little.

Chad: Okay.

Abigail: Yeah, I gotta go.

Chad: Wait, wait. Before you go, um, don't tell Ben about this, okay?

Abigail: Why?

Chad: I didn't do it for him.

Abigail: Right. I won't say anything to Ben. Thanks, Chad.

Brady: Dad, are you okay? That seemed to take a lot out of you.

John: I'm tired. It wasn't easy but it was necessary. Yeah, I think I'm gonna try to get some rest here but first, can I have a word with my son?

Marlena: Sure. Yeah, get some rest. We'll talk later.

Roman: Heal up, man.

John: Thanks.

Brady: Theresa, he wanted a moment alone with me. Dad, listen--

John: I know what you're gonna say but I knew all along that it wasn't you. You couldn't do that.

Brady: It's just the two of us here, okay? I need you to tell me... were you lying?

Kristen: That was interesting. You said something very wise before about not getting ahead of oneself.

Daniel: What the hell are you talking about?

John: You're worried that I'm taking the blame to protect you. But, Brady, you've gotta trust me. You are not responsible and I swear that that's the truth.

Brady: Dad, whatever happened that night, I need you to know that it would've been a much different story if I had had my act together. No, come on, think about it. The drugs, the drinking, the bad decisions. You were trying to help me the whole time. I turned my back on you if I would've listened to you, it would've been different.

John: Stop it, it's over. From now on, we don't look backwards anymore. We're gonna look forward... both of us. Deal?

Brady: Yeah, it's a deal.

John: Deal.

Marlena: You all right?

Theresa: Yeah, why wouldn't I be?

Marlena: You seemed a little jumpy in there. Before john said what he thought happened.

Theresa: No, I was just nervous. I was worried about what he might say. I mean, ya know, he just came out of a coma and I'm not really his favorite person and-- well, I was just worried that he would get confused and misremember what happened. I mean, that could happen, right uncle roman?

Roman: I guess so.

Theresa: Yeah, but you know what, I think that we're all very lucky that john got it all right. I mean, that's gotta be good news for his continued recovery, right?

Brady: Dad would like to see you.

Marlena: All right. Thanks, honey.

Theresa: Well, you and Kristen looked thick as thieves in there. Not to mention all the looks that you were exchanging. What was that all about?

Sami: Hey, um, Johnny, I can't! Your sisters, they just will not get ready. Will you go hurry them up for me?

Johnny: On it. Thanks for talking to me, daddy. I love you!

EJ: I love you.

Sami: What's wrong?

EJ: I was thinking about father and this whole mess.

Sami: It's different this time, isn't it? It's worse.

EJ: No.

Sami: You're really worried.

EJ: In a way, it's not. I mean, in a way it's exactly the same. He's furious, he's threatening revenge. But at the end of the day, he'll come to realize we're family and the whole thing will settle down.

Sami: You want that to be true and you want me to think that that's true but I know you don't believe it.

EJ: I don't know what I would do if he went after you and the children.

Sami: Look, EJ, I will talk to him. You know, I'll try to explain. I will grovel if I have to.

EJ: No, absolutely not. No, no, no. I opened this door, it will be me who closes it. And I will. Please try not to worry. I'm not going to let anything bad happen to us now that we are finally back together. And... we have a party to go to. So let's get happy.

Sami: [Laughs] No! No, please! Stop! Please! Okay, I'm happy!

EJ: Happy?

Sami: Did you really work things out with will?

EJ: Yeah. I told him to go ahead and write the article. Not to worry how I'd react.

Sami: I really did not expect you to say that.

EJ: Well, I didn't want to cause any more friction between the two of you and I'm determined to make us one big, whole, happy family if I have to bring in hired muscle to do it.

Sami: Thank you. Thank you.

[Phone rings]

EJ: Sorry. I have to go and do something. Can I see you at the party?

Sami: Okay. Okay. Oh, you know what I was thinking, actually? I kind of what to walk in with you. You know, so why don't you just do what you have to do and then call me and then we can go together. Walk in that door together.

EJ: That sounds like a dream.

Sami: Okay.

EJ: I would like that. I walk in with you tonight, and I wake up beside you tomorrow morning and every morning thereafter. I am the luckiest man alive. And you look fantastic.

Sami: [Laughs]

Ben: Clyde overheard me talking about the whole money thing and he offered to cover me on what I needed.

Jordan: And you just took it?

Ben: I can't just take money from my college fund. It's all tied up. I can't just pull it out for regular stuff without having to pay a penalty.

Jordan: What do you mean, "regular stuff"? Groceries? Oh, the economics of falling in love. Dinner dates, flowers, motel rooms--

Ben: Hey! All right.

Jordan: Sorry. Look, hey, Ben, I want you to be really, really happy. I want you and Abigail to have fun but taking money from your father was a mistake. You can't open the door to that man. You know what he did to us.

Ben: Jordan, of course, I remember. But it was in the past.

Jordan: And we have to keep him there. You know what, let me give you the money to pay him back. It's better to owe me than him.

Ben: Okay, you already know the answer to that question. So I'm sorry that your angry but I can handle it myself.

Jordan: I'm not saying that you can't. It's just...

Ben: Jordan, I know. I know.

Jordan: Sorry for butting in. I gotta go. But next time--

Ben: Yes, next time I will call you. I will.

Jordan: Okay.

Sami: Sonny, thank you so much for offering to pick up the kids, all right? So I'll see you outside in a couple of minutes, I'll have them ready for you.

Johnny: Mommy! Is everything okay?

Sami: Yeah, everything's great.

Johnny: Where's daddy?

Sami: Oh, he had to go but um, daddy and I are gonna meet you at the party, okay?

Johnny: Okay. I forgot, I got this for him at camp. It's for luck.

Sami: Really? That is the sweet thing ever! Daddy is gonna love that. Okay, you hold onto it, we'll give it to him tomorrow, okay?

Johnny: Okay.

Jordan: Hi.

Chad: Hi. You seemed a thousand miles away just now.

Jordan: Oh, uh, yeah, I guess I was just a little, uh, distracted thinking about where I was going. Anyway, it was good to see you again.

Chad: Oh, your brother got to you, didn't he?

Jordan: Excuse me.

Theresa: So what were you two really going on about? Was it me? Hm?

Daniel: Hey, uh, everything okay?

Brady: Yeah, yeah, just need a little time to, ya know.

Daniel: Yeah, yeah, if you have a minute I have some thoughts about your dad's treatment I'd like to go over with you if...

Brady: No, I would. I would like that.

Roman: All right, I'll tell you what, I've got to get going. See you both.

Brady: Thanks, roman.

Daniel: Let's um, let's find some place to talk.

Theresa: Okay. So john remembers everything. But he's willing to lie about it. This has got to be about Kristen. I just feel the hate between them. What is Daniel up to?

John: You and I, we've got so much to talk about.

Marlena: Not now. There's no rush. You rest, we've got all the time in the world.

[Door closes]

Daniel: Well, uh, let's talk about your father.

[Door slams shut]

Abigail: Hi!

Ben: Hi.

Abigail: Hi, uh--well--uh, you're working, obviously, so, um...

Ben: No, you don't have to go or anything. I'm honestly not that busy. Really.

Abigail: Right, oh, yeah. It doesn't get crazy here until later, right?

Ben: Yeah. Exactly. Later. Uh, do you want something to, uh, to drink? How about, um, damn, how can I not remember what you like to drink.

Abigail: It's fine. Don't worry, I can't even remember myself right now. I, I don't like just one thing, ya know? So, I like lots of different, uh, things so, whatever is good.

Ben: Okay.

Abigail: Okay.

Ben: One, um, "whatever" coming right up.

Abigail: Great.

Ben: You know what, maybe um, maybe I'll take it to you outside.

Abigail: Really?

Ben: Yeah, I mean, it's a beautiful Indian summer out there, right? Go on, I'll catch up with you. I'll surprise you.

Abigail: Okay. All right, I'll see you there.

Ben: All right.

Chad: I mean, you just seemed so anxious to get out of here. I mean, it's been really great getting to know you and, you know, if my issues with your brother bother you at all then...

Jordan: No, it's not you, really, it's--I guess I was just a little distracted. Do you ever have coffee in your own coffee house?

Chad: Uh, maybe I'm just checking out the competition.

Jordan: Or steering clear of my brother Ben? If you ask me, that's pretty considerate.

EJ: You set up the meeting? I cannot believe I told that man twice, "stick to the territory that I assigned you!" Now, it's time to lay down the law.

Kristen: You got me. Wow, what a surprise. You were just a little less than truthful, weren't you?

John: And you have such deep regard for the truth.

Kristen: You know. You know what Theresa did to you. I know you do. And still, you're willing to let her get away with practically killing you because you think that's gonna keep Brady away from me. You know, john, for someone who's just recently in command, I've gotta tip my hat. You sized up the situation quickly, you decided how to play your hand but I gotta tell you, john, you made the wrong choice. You decided that Theresa is the lesser of two evils but even you have to admit that if she had even slightly better aim, we wouldn't even be having this conversation right now, would we? You... have to live with your choice. And you have to pray that you didn't just put your son's life in danger.

John: Good-bye.

Chad: Yeah, I don't know what's so sweet about not going to my own club.

Jordan: Well, because you could. You own 1/2 the place. It's like you don't want to make waves.

Chad: You know, you're probably the only person that I know who thinks that I don't wanna make waves. Ask her. Hello, Sami.

Sami: Oh, hello. I had no idea you two knew each other.

Chad: It's a small town. Do you want something?

Sami: I'm looking for EJ. He was supposed to meet me here.

Chad: He went that way, towards the park.

Sami: Did he now, well I'll got get him. Thank you.

Chad: Oh, did he get off the leash again?

Sami: You little...

Jordan: Well, I take back the wave-making thing. That was tense.

Chad: Yeah, sorry. Family stuff. I probably should've just asked her to join us.

Jordan: No, no, no, no. She kind of can't stand me.

Chad: See, I knew I liked you. Something else we have in common.

Sami: EJ? EJ, where the hell are you? My God, this doesn't make any sense.

Clyde: Mr. DiMera, your man said you wanted to meet. Everything okay?

EJ: Did you really think that I wouldn't find out what you were doing? I told you how this was supposed to work. I gave you explicit orders.

Clyde: Well, maybe your damn orders didn't make any sense.

Sami: Now what? No signal. Damn it.

EJ: You don't talk to me like that. You seem to forget who I am and what I represent.

Clyde: Well, you talk a big game but only a fool would be so shortsighted. Now, I'm here to make money. So why don't you go home to your wife and let me send you your cut. I promise you, you'll be a happy man.

EJ: I'm not going anywhere, Mr. Weston. Not until you understand it's over. You're finished. And I'm not just talking about the territory that I designated you. You're finished in Salem. You're going to be going home. You're going back, tonight.

Clyde: Well, golly, EJ, I just don't see that happening. Dove invited women to a makeover with a difference.

Theresa: All right. I don't know what they're talking about but who cares? John made it clear that he remembers everything so it doesn't really matter what anyone says. I've got that.

Brady: But then, I really keep wondering if my dad is actually... telling me the truth. I keep wondering if he's lying about what he remembered just to save me from the guilt, you know? I just feel like there's something he's not saying.

Daniel: Me too.

Kristen: Good-bye. You made the wrong choice, john. But it's not over.

Abigail: Hi.

Ben: Hi.

Abigail: God, you're right, it's such a beautiful night out. Indian summer, it's warm and it's--

Ben: And it's a perfect night for "whatever."

Jordan: "Something else" we have in common? So there's more?

Chad: Well, ya know, I did have tennis elbow and you are a physical therapist. I mean, what? That's kind of freaky, right?

Jordan: What are the odds of that? Anyway, it was nice to see you again.

Chad: Well, if you stick around, I could come up with more. Ya know, like I think puppies are incredibly cute, how about you?

Jordan: Uncanny. I'll see ya.

Chad: Look, look, look, I know you have time. All right? It's your day off, right?

Jordan: Wait a minute, how did you know that?

EJ: I don't think that you fully appreciate who you're talking to.

Clyde: Well, that's the thing, ya see. I know exactly who I'm talking to.

Sami: Come on. [Groans] The hell with it.

Clyde: The man I'm talking to needs some schooling. You see, I thought I was getting involved with a professional. A pretender is more like it. Yeah, you got the fancy accent, the mistress on the side and a nice cushy lifestyle handed to you on a platter. By a gangster father who doesn't seem to have taught you the first thing about how this all works!

Sami: EJ?
