Paige: Did you know...
JJ: What? Did I know what?
Paige: That... your aunt Kayla was raped? Oh, my God, JJ. I'm so sorry. You didn't, did you?
EJ: There you go. I told you I'd be back in a second. Where is my mother?
Sami: I don't know. She was gone when I got here.
EJ: What do you mean "gone"? Is she in the garden?
Sami: No, I think she fled.
EJ: Why didn't you call me?
Kristen: EJ loved what I did to Eric that night. He laughed when I told him.
EJ: Samantha, please, the last thing I need is my rather unusual mother running around Salem trying to save me from evil.
Clyde: Hey, there, Rafe. How are you this fine day?
Clyde: Well, at least let me thank you.
Rafe: For what?
Clyde: Introducing me to Kate Roberts.
Kate: Hey. So that was an intriguing message, to say the least. What's happening?
Chad: I spoke to my father last night. He wanted me to be sure that I let slip that he's flying to Frankfurt tomorrow.
Chad: That was it.
Kate: Frankfurt... tomorrow. [Sighs] That rotten old bastard.
Jordan: Hey, Sonny. I thought Ben was working today.
Sonny: No, his shift's over. He said that he's going to meet up with Abigail.
Ben: Here we are.
Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, h-here we are.
Ben: This was a terrible idea. I-I'm sorry.
JJ: Yeah, actually, uh... I did know.
Paige: Oh, thank goodness. I mean, not that, not like it's good that it happened. I'd just hate to be the one to tell you that news.
JJ: So how did you find out?
Paige: I heard Dr. Brady talking to a rape victim at work. I didn't mean to eavesdrop. But it was so personal. She was just telling this other woman, so...
JJ: So--so what exactly did you hear?
Abigail: No, t-this isn't a terrible idea at all. I-I'm--
Ben: No, I jumped the gun. It's just that the other day in the park, I thought-- I don't know. Maybe if we could be alone where nobody could interrupt us, things would just be-- I don't know. But clearly this was not the surprise you were expecting.
Abigail: Well, if I were expecting it, then it wouldn't be a surprise.
Abigail: No, this is-- this is-- this is sweet.
Ben: But it's weird for you. Is that because we saw EJ earlier?
EJ: No, no, I'm aware of that, but if anybody should locate her, then please just call me, and I'll come down and talk to her. Thank you. You don't suppose she could be with the children, do you?
[Cell phone rings]
EJ: Oh. Oh, this is she. "My darling Elvis, I cannot remain in Salem. The"-- "my darling Elvis, I cannot remain in Salem. The vampires would keep me from defending you. But don't worry. I will help you, even from far, far, far away. I love you, my precious boy. Promise you'll be very, very, very careful. Evil still lurks." Hmm.
Rafe: Don't give me credit for that, Clyde. I think you introduced yourself.
Clyde: Well, that just may be, but, uh, I never would've had the chance if I hadn't have known you. I wouldn't have had the gumption to talk to a lady like Kate on my own.
Chad: So what does Frankfurt have to do with anything?
Kate: [Sighs] George Merkel, one of our board members, is in Frankfurt tomorrow on company business. And Stefano wants me to think that he's flying into Frankfurt to interfere with that transaction.
Kate: And it's a really good deal. And if I stop it, I'm gonna cost the company a lot of money, and I'll look like a fool.
Chad: What--so why does my dad think that you would just pop off like that? Seems like more of a Sami move to me.
Kate: Because your father holds a deep and deeply misguided belief that he is endlessly fascinating and I would never pass up a chance to interact with him.
Chad: So what are you gonna do?
Paige: Dr. Brady was telling this woman that she was a survivor of rape too... and that she--the woman-- could recover, just like she had and that we were there to help. I mean, she was so brave, right? I mean, to put her personal experience out there like that? I felt-- I don't know-- proud of her. And then I felt horrible for listening in, and I took off.
JJ: S-so you didn't hear, uh, details?
Paige: No. I'm sorry. But your aunt seemed pretty calm, so I'm guessing it wasn't recent.
JJ: No, uh... it happened a long time ago.
Paige: JJ, you seem really upset. Is it because I overheard? Do you wish I hadn't or something?
[Cell phone ringing]
Abigail: This has nothing to do with EJ.
Ben: Are you sure? 'Cause the last time we got a little closer--
Abigail: No. That was about the place. I didn't want anything for us to be like it had been with him.
Ben: Well, maybe this place is a--
Abigail: It's completely different, and... it's ours. It's... it's nice. Is that food? Is that for us?
Ben: Yeah, actually. I ordered ahead. Figured we'd be hungry after, uh-- this is the part where you can run, and I would totally understand.
Ben: I would totally understand.
EJ: It's very strange that she would come all the way here and then do such a quick about-turn. You're sure she was gone when you came back to the house?
EJ: Oh. And you have no idea what set her off?
Sami: [Clears throat] No.
EJ: Hey. Would you look at me? Please, Samantha? Look, I could tell that you were upset from the minute I walked back in here. Something is going on. Would you please tell me?
Sami: [Sighs] I don't know, okay? I don't know what set your mom off, but I'm gonna guess that Susan had a run-in with the same person who was waiting for me when I got home.
Rafe: I don't know, Clyde. Seems like you have plenty of gumption.
Clyde: [Chuckles] Yeah, well, in the right circumstance, sure. But a classy lady like Kate? Man, that's a rare breed where I come from, you know, not only smart and beautiful, but she's so down-to-earth. Golly, we just laughed all night at all that--
Rafe: All night?
Clyde: Yeah. At dinner.
Rafe: Oh. You and Kate had dinner.
Chad: So now that you know what my dad's up to, what's the move?
Kate: I'm gonna do exactly what he expects me to do.
Chad: I thought that'll cost money, make you look foolish.
Kate: It will. But it will lull him into thinking that he does know the game. He made his first move. He sacrificed his pawn. But I want his king. I can't tip him off that I know what he's up to.
Chad: Then you'll never get a shot.
Kate: Or worse.
Chad: Stefano figures out that you and I are working together.
Chad: So you sacrifice the pawn.
Kate: That's right. I take the first hit and then another, maybe even one more, until he's absolutely certain that he's winning.
Chad: And he'll let his guard down.
Kate: Mm-hmm. You're learning.
Chad: The old man is arrogant.
Kate: That's right. It runs in the family, so you need to watch out, because overconfidence has been the undoing of every DiMera man.
Chad: I'm gonna learn a lot from you, Kate.
[Cell phone ringing]
Paige: You should answer it.
JJ: It's okay.
Paige: No, look, I-I didn't think that Dr. Brady knew I'd heard, but maybe she did. Go ahead and take it. [Sighs]
JJ: Hey, Aunt Kayla. Uh, what's going on?
Kayla: Okay, so your girlfriend is a total star. But I guess you knew that.
JJ: I do. [Chuckles]
Kayla: Mm-hmm. And, I mean, you got to love a girl who wants to devote her whole life to helping people, not to mention doing all the hard work it takes to become a doctor. I can say this to you because I know you're gonna understand. I cannot believe, really, that she is eve Donovan's daughter.
JJ: No kidding.
Kayla: But, listen, don't worry. We are not gonna hold it against her. She's such a sweet girl. But, listen, I want you to make sure that she knows that she can come straight to me if she needs anything, okay? That she shouldn't let the, you know, title on the door slow her down.
JJ: [Chuckles] Well, I will let her know.
Kayla: Okay, bub. Listen, I love you, okay? Don't be a stranger.
JJ: All right, aunt Kayla. All right, thank you. Uh, bye.
Paige: Is everything okay?
JJ: Yeah, uh, she just wanted to tell me how great you were and that if you have any problems to go ahead and go see her.
Paige: Oh, good. Like I'm a snoop who listens outside of doors? Does she have a cure for that? [Groans] I feel so awkward about all this. I don't know what to do.
JJ: You weren't snooping. You just got caught by surprise.
Paige: I guess. And your aunt was talking pretty freely about it, so I guess it won't be too weird when I tell her.
Paige: Well, I have to tell Dr. Brady what I heard.
JJ: No. Do not do that.
Clyde: Of course, I do hope that dinner with Kate was just a start for us. So I owe you a big thanks for getting things off the ground. If I can ever return the favor...
Rafe: Excuse me?
Clyde: Well, if I can do anything to help you and Jordan along, you just say so, and it's done.
Rafe: No, no, no. We're doing--doing fine. Thanks.
Clyde: I hear you. I wish you two the best. You have a good one.
Rafe: Yeah. Yeah.
Jordan: Thank you.
Sonny: You're welcome.
Jordan: See you later.
Sonny: See you later.
Jordan: Hey, can I ask you a question about Chad?
Sonny: Ben told you about the misunderstanding?
Jordan: What misunderstanding?
Sonny: Over some cash Ben had.
Jordan: Oh, that was totally legitimate.
Sonny: Oh, yeah. No, we know. Chad backed right off.
Jordan: So Chad assumed my brother was a thief?
Sonny: I don't know. I think it--I think it was about Abigail. Chad really used to have a thing for her.
Jordan: So Chad is jealous of my brother.
Abigail: I don't want to go.
Ben: You don't look...
Abigail: I'm... I'm--I'm overwhelmed. I'm not used to-- no man has ever--ever tried to... make this special... for me before. No man has ever... been so amazing to me. Ben, you're everything I could want.
Kate: So I got your message.
Kate: What's up?
Rafe: I can't even believe that I'm gonna say this. And feel free to tell me that it is none of my business, okay?
Rafe: I mean, it's not... except I do feel responsible for the whole thing.
Kate: Um, I'm gonna need a little more information than that, because I don't--
Rafe: Clyde. Clyde Weston?
Clyde: So where are we?
Jeremiah: New shipment arriving tomorrow. Supply ain't our problem.
Clyde: Oh, you just wait. We're gonna need twice what we have right now next week. You double that load.
Jeremiah: Where we gonna park all that product?
Clyde: We don't need to. We're gonna sell it. We are doubling our territory.
EJ: Kristen was in this house? What was she doing here?
Sami: Reading the tabloids, glaring at my new decor, gloating.
EJ: Gloating? What does she have to gloat about? What she did was disgusting.
Sami: Definitely was, but she's not gonna go to jail for it, is she? She's not gonna spend one minute in prison for what she did to my brother.
EJ: Samantha, we knew that. You know, let's be honest. And this is not what has you in a mood, so why don't you tell me?
Sami: She told me that you knew what she had done.
EJ: Mm-hmm. I did. I told you that.
Sami: Did you tell me all of it?
EJ: Yes, I told you everything.
Sami: How did you feel about what Kristen had done?
EJ: I told you. I was appalled by what she did.
Sami: That's not what she said. She said you liked it.
JJ: That was out of line. Uh, I'm sorry.
Paige: JJ, I didn't mean to upset you.
JJ: It's just, uh... I know that it happened a long time ago, and it may seem like aunt Kayla is fine and all. And maybe she is. But I-I just feel like that's private. Now, it's different when it's an anonymous patient, but with friends or family...
Paige: Yeah, yeah. I guess that's different.
JJ: I just think it's best that we forget the whole thing.
Kate: So you're right. It is none of your business.
Rafe: [Scoffs] So you did go out with him.
Kate: Did you just hear what I said?
Kate: I had dinner with him, Rafe.
Kate: Because he asked me to. That's why.
Rafe: Oh, that's all it takes?
Kate: Really? You know, he happens to be a really charming guy, not that it's any of your business or that I need to give you an explanation. Oh, wait. Wait. I see what this is about. It's about Jordan, right?
Sonny: But, listen, we're all grown-ups. I think Chad's over it. T said that he apologized to Ben.
Jordan: Well, that's good.
Sonny: Mm-hmm. Have you ever met Chad?
Jordan: I've run into him a few times. He's been very nice to me, but I don't think he had any idea I was Ben's sister.
Sonny: Well, if you want to tell him, now would be a good time.
Chad: Hey, Jordan.
Chad: Sonny, what's up, man?
Sonny: Oh, you know, just taking care of business.
Chad: Can I do anything?
Sonny: No. You're up.
Chad: Ha. "You're up." Not if that's just decaf, though.
Jordan: No, it's not that. Um, there's something I should tell you.
Chad: [Inhales sharply] Okay.
Jordan: Ben Rogers is my brother.
Abigail: This is gorgeous.
Ben: Thank you. It's kind of like a picnic... except this time, you don't have to do all the work.
Abigail: You know, I just realized, I have the whole entire day free. For the first time in ages, I am so glad I am unemployed.
Abigail: Do you have to be anywhere?
Ben: Nope. I am all yours.
Abigail: This is perfect.
Ben: Mm-hmm. We pretty much have all the time in the world.
Sami: Kristen said that you laughed when she told you. She said that you said it wouldn't hurt Eric to get knocked off his pedestal. He'd have to walk around with the rest of us mere mortals. Lie to me. I dare you.
EJ: I do not remember laughing. Honestly, I-I don't think that I did.
Sami: But you said it. God, I knew you said it. It sounds just like you.
EJ: Look, Samantha, do you remember that morning? We woke up, and you started going on about what a--what a perfect man your brother is, how he was better than either one of us.
Sami: So you were jealous?
EJ: No. No, no, no.
Sami: Is that what this is about?
EJ: You... you were jealous. Look, I'll be honest with you. Whenever I hear somebody being talked about in that sort of saintly way, I start looking for the fault lines. But come on. If we were talking about anybody other than your brother-- the truth... how would you react?
Sami: If it was anyone other than Eric, I wouldn't believe it were true. But it is Eric, and he is that good. It is true.
EJ: I saw that every day after this happened. I saw a truly noble man... who had the most horrific thing done to him. That's why it was so very difficult for me to talk to you about it. I-I may have made that crack... but I tore Kristen apart for what she did to your brother. I told her it was disgusting and appalling. And I'm betting she didn't tell you that, did she?
EJ: No. Look, you remember. You came in here. I was standing right there, and you asked me what was going on between the two of us.
Sami: I remember you were so angry, you couldn't even finish your sentence.
EJ: Yeah, I was absolutely furious with her. Samantha, she's come back here to cause trouble. She sees how happy you and I are. She's furious at me because I refused to help her. That's all this is. Will you please just try not to let her get to you?
Paige: I love how you look out for your aunt.
JJ: She's the best.
Paige: So are you. So are you.
[Cell phone rings]
Abigail: No. What? Seriously? You planned this down to the baguette and you didn't turn your phone off?
[Cell phone rings]
Ben: And you have all the time in the world?
Abigail: Okay, all right, here's what we're gonna do.
Abigail: We are going to, um, turn this off together on the count of three. Okay?
Abigail: All right. One, two--
Ben: You know what? Maybe you should keep yours on, just in case a job offer comes through.
Abigail: I'm not holding my breath.
Abigail: What about you? What do you want to do?
Ben: [Sighs] My dream job?
Ben: Um, I'd have to say... helping the good people of Salem stay caffeinated daily. Yeah. [Chuckles] Of course I want more than that. But now that I can actually, you know, stay in one place, I can finally save up for school.
Abigail: That's awesome. So what do you want to study?
Chad: [Inhales sharply] I just found out Ben had a sister. And it's you? [Chuckles] Was--was Ridgeway your married name or something?
Jordan: No, I was never married, but, um... well, it's complicated why we have different names. But anyway, we are related.
Chad: Good. Okay. Family is really important. Did Ben come to Salem because you were here?
Jordan: Yeah. We decided it would be better to stay closer.
Chad: I bet you're a great sister.
Jordan: I try to look out for Ben.
Chad: And you heard about the run-in that we had? Listen, I am really sorry for that. I'm an ass. Chalk it up to a tough reentry. I hope you and Ben won't hold it against me.
Jordan: He's very understanding. Take care.
Chad: Hey, uh... what about you? Do you understand, or is this a thing now? I mean, I just got back to Salem. I thought I had this great new friend. I hope I didn't screw that up.
Jordan: No, you didn't.
Chad: [Clicking tongue]
Rafe: How can it be about Jordan?
Kate: Because Clyde is Jordan's stepfather.
Rafe: I live by my instincts, okay? That's how I survive. And there is something that is definitely wrong with that guy.
Kate: What, because his stepdaughter doesn't like him? That's not uncommon, Rafe.
Rafe: No, it's not just dislike. Jordan ran away from him. She lived under different identities to hide from him.
Kate: Okay, and now he's found her, and guess what. The sky didn't fall.
Kate: Okay? I mean, is there even a possibility here that maybe Jordan is exaggerating? Maybe she misjudged the "threat." I don't know. You know, all I can say is that Clyde has been really open about the fact that he made mistakes with his kids, and he's in town to make amends.
Rafe: I know that's the story.
Kate: Really? So do you have evidence that would contradict that, detective, or is this just your gut instinct? You know, because, actually, he has only nice things to say about you.
Kate: No, he's hoping that you and Jordan work things out.
Rafe: Yeah, right. Yeah. So he says.
Kate: [Laughs] You just won't let this go.
Kate: What, are you jealous?
Jeremiah: You know what you're taking on?
Clyde: I am not leaving all that money on the table.
Jeremiah: You're gonna take on the whole DiMera family?
Clyde: Won't be the whole family, just EJ.
Jeremiah: Now, how do you figure that?
Clyde: The man's on his own. There's all kinds of shenanigans going on with their legitimate businesses. There are rifts in the family.
Jeremiah: You're sure.
Clyde: Oh, yeah. I'm gonna deal with that arrogant S.O.B. Myself.
Sami: It's been a hell of a day, huh?
Sami: [Chuckles] [Sighs] Kids aren't even home from school, and already your mother descended on us from England, going on and on about how evil was all around you. And we had to do business over my grandmother's clam chowder today.
[Both laughing] And then I come home, and your sister's here throwing her garbage at me.
EJ: Yeah, I'm sorry.
Sami: No. What? No. You don't have to say that. It could just as easily have been my family attacking you for who knows what.
EJ: Yeah, but you have to admit, my family does bring a rather elevated level of crazy and potentially lethal force to the party.
Sami: I'll give you that. It's not too late. Is it? I mean, we could elope and just never come back.
EJ: I have aliases.
Sami: No. I-I turned them all in to the police when I had you busted.
EJ: Did you? Huh.
Sami: What? Are you saying I missed some? [Gasps] I didn't. I don't know how I feel about that.
EJ: Just think of it as me always being ready to do whatever I need to do to protect my family.
Sami: Seriously? You'd just pick up and go?
Sami: And there's nothing you'd be sorry to leave behind?
EJ: Samantha... all I need is you... you and the children. That's everything I need, and I have it right here.
Ben: I'm still figuring it out, but I see what Jordan does, and it's like... she could be happy, even when we were on the run. No matter where she was or how messed up the rest of her life was, she woke up every day and helped people. That's what I want. I don't know what or how, but that's the one thing that I wake up with every day. So, no matter what I do, it just--it has to matter to somebody besides me.
Abigail: It will. You'll find that. I know it.
Rafe: I am not jealous of Clyde, no.
Kate: Okay, good.
Rafe: But I do care about you, and I don't want to see you get mixed up with a guy that's bad news.
Kate: Well, it wouldn't be the first time.
Rafe: No, it sure wouldn't. And that's the thing. So... excuse me for looking out for a friend.
JJ: I love you so much.
Clyde: Ask me, Jeremiah. You can speak freely.
Jeremiah: When you say you're gonna deal with EJ DiMera, you talking about an arch Breslin-type solution? 'Cause I don't care how much squabbling goes on in the family. Some things will pull them together right quick.
EJ: They can't get to us, not if we don't let them.
Sami: And we won't, no matter what happens out there, no matter who tries what.
EJ: We won't allow them to get to us... because we... live here.
Sami: And here... always.
Paige: Maybe we should go upstairs for privacy.
JJ: No. No. No. Uh...
Paige: Something wrong?
JJ: Uh, yeah. Yeah.
Ben: You are so beautiful. How did I get so damn lucky?
Chad: I should have called you before I came back. This should've been my first stop. It's just... on the entire way here, the whole flight, I just kept rereading that article about EJ and Abigail in my head, and the whole-- look, sorry. I just couldn't shake it off that fast.
Sonny: I'm not surprised. But what about now? You're still my partner, Chad. Are you gonna be okay with Ben and Abigail and everyone else involved coming in here on a regular basis?
Chad: Now I know why we don't have a bouncer on the payroll. It's because it's you, isn't it?
Sonny: Get out of here.
Chad: Yeah, you're even more badass than when I left.
Sonny: Count on it.
Chad: All right, look, so all that other stuff... over. Done. Rearview mirror, all right? I'm good. Now, partner... I think we need to change how things are done around here.
Rafe: Well, just... just take it slow with this clown, okay?
Kate: Oh, now he's a bozo?
Rafe: You know what I mean.
Kate: And thank you, okay? Thank you for caring.
Kate: Hey. Ah, Jordan. Jordan, you--you just missed Rafe.
Jordan: Yeah, I saw.
Kate: Oh, no. No, it's not what you saw--
Jordan: What you and Rafe do is your business.
Kate: No, no. Wait, wait, wait. It's not about me and Rafe, not the way you think. It's just that... he seems to be very upset about the fact that I went out with your dad. [Chuckles]
Jeremiah: You go that route, you could have the whole DiMera family coming after you with all the resources at their disposal.
Johnny: They're in here kissing. Gross.
Allie: It's romantic.
Sami: How much do we need this?
EJ: More than our breath.
Sami: Hi, kids.
EJ: Hey, come here, you little monkeys.
Sami: Oh, look at you, princess. Hi, sweetheart.
EJ: Hey. Oh, there we go.
Sami: Hi, so...
Sydney: I forgot my--
Sami: Oh, there you go. Get it. Get it, daddy.
EJ: I got it. There we go.
Sami: What's the big news?
Sydney: We get to go to the zoo.
EJ: Wow. The zoo.
Sami: Wow. And you?
EJ: That sounds like far too much fun to be schoolwork.
Sami: Is that the list of school supplies?
Allie: Yeah, I got it all online already.
Sami: Of course you did, because you are the camp Olympics chairperson.
Johnny: Hello, she's in kindergarten. She paints with her fingers.
Sami: Hold on there, tiger. You painted with your fingers too. I have proof.
EJ: That was a pretty mean thing for your brother to say. I think you need to get him back.
EJ: What do you say?
Sydney: Tickle monster.
EJ: Oh, tickle monster!
Sami: Totally. Let's get him. Get him. Get him, Sydney.
EJ: Come here. Present arms--ready! [Growling]
Sami: On like Donkey Kong! Yeah!
EJ: Get him! Get him! [Growling]
Sami: [Laughing, cheering] Get him!
Clyde: Well, didn't you go right to the worst of all possible worlds. All this doom and gloom on such a fine day. I am in a good mood that you cannot ruin, you hear me? I guarantee you that EJ DiMera's gonna see it my way... one way or the other.
EJ: Ah, there is no escape!
Sami: Get him, Sydney! Get him! Ooh, oh!
EJ: No sanctuary!
Sami: Right here. I got you. Oh, yeah.
Johnny: Dad, the women are ganging up on me!
Sami: I'm gonna tickle him!
Johnny: Dad, the women are ganging up on me!
EJ: Oh, get used to it, pal.
Sami: Okay, I have an idea, Johnny. Let's gang up on Daddy.
EJ: No! Aah!
Sami: Tickle Daddy! Tickle Daddy!
Sami: No, don't stop! You can't stop. You can't ever stop. Get him! Get him! Get him!
