Episode #12419 ~ Daniel & Kayla tell Brady they may have a cure for John; Kristen's news horrifies Theresa.
Provided By Suzanne
EJ: So Kate didn't try to sandbag me, or turn you further against me than she already has?
Sami: I'm not going to let anyone do that. When it comes to how I feel about you, or what's going to happen with us... I'm going to let my heart decide. I'm not going to listen to other people's opinions anymore. I promise you that. Deal?
EJ: Deal. Absolutely. Um, s-so... what is it that your heart is telling you now? About...me? About us?
Ben: What do you want?
Clyde: Well, I like my coffee strong. I hear the Americano you make here is--
Ben: That's the only reason you're here? The coffee?
Clyde: You know it's not. I'm here to see my son.
Kayla: So, what do you think?
Daniel: This drug, whoever cooked it up is one hell of a chemist.
Kate: What do you mean?
Daniel: Well, it is time to call Brady.
Anne: Hi. What--what's wrong?
Theresa: He is. What is Brady's dad still doing in this hospital?
Kristen: I can't believe this. You're not at the hospital, really?
Marlena: Get out of my way.
Kristen: Oh my goodness. That coffee must be pretty amazing to keep you away from john's side at a time like this.
Marlena: Well, there you are, babbling again.
Kristen: [Scoffs] You don't know. My father sent the drug that's going to bring john back to the land of the living. Kayla and Daniel have it right now, Marlena. Aren't you going to thank me? Come on, come on.
Will: Do you know who that is? That's your aunt Sydney at camp. It's kind of hard to tell she's-- she's dressed like a pirate, but you know it's her because your uncle Johnny is standing beside her putting devil horns behind her head so that she can't see. Big brothers like to do stuff like that. They think it makes them cool. We should send them a package. Maybe some cookies, pictures of you. Trouble is, I don't have their address. But I think I know where we can get it. And maybe kill two birds with one stone. How about you and I go for a walk? How does that sound?
EJ: Look, I-I know that we have a long way to go, you know. But you've told me you want something from me, and that's a big improvement on a blanket dismissal.
EJ: And I promise you, I will do everything in my power to derail any plan my father may have to get even with you.
Sami: Thank you. I mean, you know, it's been hard to sleep knowing what Stefano has in mind for Kate and--and for me, and so we--we should both be so grateful to have you on our side.
EJ: Samantha, I don't really think Kate cares much about me. I certainly could care less about her. But I am here for you. Always.
EJ: I made a terrible mistake, and I will regret it for the rest of my life. But my heart has been yours from the first moment that I saw you, and it always will be.
Theresa: You told me that john was being transferred to some long-term care facility.
Anne: And he is, but the paperwork between the facility and the insurance company hasn't been completed yet. But once it is, he's out of here.
Theresa: Okay, thank God. I just--I want him gone.
Anne: Okay, come here. Come on. What happened to the girl who's always got it all together?
Theresa: Well, she still does, okay?
Anne: I can see that.
Theresa: You try having some wingnut like Kristen DiMera make threats to you. Your curls would straighten.
Anne: Are you--are you really that scared?
Theresa: I won't be. I plan on using Kristen's threats to make Brady come back to me.
Anne: Okay, well have you started?
Theresa: Well, I can't, Anne. He won't leave his father's bedside.
Anne: [Chuckles] Why--why? John black doesn't know Brady's standing there. That guy's an eggplant now.
Theresa: Brady's guilty. He thinks that he did this to his father. Thinks he made him this way.
Anne: He--he did, he did make him this way, didn't he?
Theresa: Yes, of course he did. But, Anne, it's just that every time Brady looks at me, he thinks... I mean, he remembers that awful night, and... I just--I need to figure out a way to play the Kristen card or it's going to lose it's punch.
Anne: I got you. Well, there's no time like the present. Put on your concerned face.
Theresa: Okay. Hey. How is he?
Brady: It's not a good time right now.
Theresa: Look, Brady, I'm really sorry, but... there's just something I have to tell you. And I--I'm--I'm really sorry. I-I know this isn't a good time, but... I-I don't really have a choice.
Kristen: So Daniel and Kayla didn't keep you in the loop? Oh, I guess they don't have to, right? 'Cause Brady has all the decision-making, right? Now that you and john are splitsville. Well, I guess they would have filled you in eventually.
Marlena: Maybe... there's another explanation. Maybe... I haven't heard from Daniel or Kayla because they don't want to use your drug. And, of course, if they don't give the drug to john, there's no reason that Eric can't testify against you. And if he does, you're going to prison. So I guess we're both on pins and needles, hmm?
EJ: Sorry, sorry. Should check this quickly. I--I'm sorry, but I really have to go.
Sami: Yeah, no, of course. Of course you do. You should go to work.
EJ: Look, I know that we've--we've talked about a lot, and you have a lot to think about. All I asked for was one chance to win you back, and I meant that.
Sami: [Chuckles] [Sighs]
EJ: I promise you, I won't rush you, or push you, not that I could.
Sami: Right. Appreciate that.
EJ: Oh, something else you really need to remember. My father has one fatal flaw when it comes to his enemies. He thinks they're stupid. He's always underestimated you, and you have made him pay for it. If anybody can beat Stefano DiMera at his own game, it's you.
Sami: Oh God, I hope you're right, EJ.
Ben: There. You have your coffee, you've seen me. So I guess your business here is done.
Clyde: Oh listen, son, come on, I kept my word. Stayed away from your girlfriend, gave you plenty of time to think about my offer. Hell...[Chuckles] I'm even calling you Ben.
Ben: So, what? I'm just supposed to think that you've changed?
Clyde: I'd like to think so, yeah.
Ben: [Scoffs] Doesn't matter what I think. Jordan doesn't want you here.
Clyde: So she gets to make the decision?
Ben: After what she did for me, yeah, she does.
Clyde: After what she did for you? She stole you away from your own daddy.
Ben: [Scoffs] Look, I know that's how you see it, but I see it differently. And in my book, she saved me from you.
Theresa: Please, Brady. This is important.
Brady: All right, I have a couple of minutes.
Theresa: Thank you.
Anne: Oh, Anne.
Kristen: Oh, Marlena, Marlena, Marlena. Daniel and Kayla would be pretty stupid if they didn't give john the drug, I mean, really.
Marlena: Why is that? Because you said it works?
Kristen: No, because a whole bunch of really smart research doctors on my father's payroll say it will.
Marlena: You better hope this drug works. Because if it doesn't, Eric will change his mind, and then he would help bury you.
Kristen: I don't think he's going to do that. Eric's a man of his word. Unlike you, who's a hypocritical liar.
Marlena: Oh, wait, wait, who's the liar here?
Kristen: You are. Let me think. John wanted to be with me. We were actually really happy together. You said you were going to back off, but you didn't mean a word of that, did you?
Marlena: That was years ago. I think you got me back for that.
Kristen: How about something a little bit more recent? Brady wanted to be with me. We were happy together, and you ruined that too. You know what's funny? I think you're the destructive one in this relationship.
Marlena: You know what's funny? I think you really believe that.
Kristen: You don't have any power over me any more, Marlena. I have the upper-hand, because I can give Brady back the one thing you threw away like a lousy piece of trash, and that's his father. And there's nothing you can do to change that. Ha-ha.
Theresa: Hey, so you still take cream and sugar?
Brady: No, I don't--I don't want any coffee. Just tell me what--what is it you had to tell me?
Theresa: Okay, I will. Look, it's--
Brady: Sorry. I got to take this. Hey.
Daniel: Hey, can you come over to my place?
Daniel: Now. I wouldn't ask you to drop everything if it wasn't important.
Daniel: And don't tell anyone you're meeting with me.
Brady: Why not?
Daniel: I'll explain it when you get here.
Brady: I'm on my way.
Theresa: Where are you going? What's going on?
Sami: Harold! Never mind. What are you doing here?
Will: I wanted to send some cookies to Johnny, Allie, and Sydney at camp, and, well, I didn't have the address.
Sami: Camp's almost over.
Will: I'll overnight them. They can have them for the ride home.
Sami: That's very thoughtful of you, will. You could have just texted me, I would have sent you the address.
Will: Arianna misses you.
Sami: Oh, give me a break. Now you are... pulling out the heavy artillery.
Will: Yeah. Is it working?
Clyde: I know what I put you through.
Ben: Hmph. Must be killing you to have to say that.
Clyde: I mean it.
Ben: Now you can't just whip off your belt and wrap it around your fist the way you used to whenever I'd say something that you didn't want to hear. 'Cause now I'm old enough, and I'm big enough to knock you straight on your ass.
Clyde: You know, Jordan didn't just save you from me back then. She saved me from myself. If she hadn't left with you--
Ben: Yeah, one of us might be dead.
Clyde: I know I needed that wake-up call. And I listened to it.
Ben: What else are you going to say?
Clyde: Well, there's your girl. I'll let you two have some fun. I hope you and I can talk again real soon.
Ben: So does that mean you're sticking around?
Clyde: Well, like I said, I like it here in Salem. Met some real fine people, but bottom line is... my kids are here.
Ben: [Breathes deeply]
Abigail: You okay?
Ben: I am now. I'm off work, and you're here.
Abigail: Okay. [Chuckles] What do you want to do?
Ben: Just be with you.
Abigail: I like that plan.
Brady: It's--it's the company. It's a business thing, some kind of crisis. I have to go back to the house and deal with it.
Theresa: Yeah, but I thought that we were gonna talk about--
Brady: I'm sorry, you wanna-- there's something you had to tell me. What was it?
Theresa: It--it'll keep. Just go do whatever you have to do, and I--I'll see you later.
Brady: Okay, thank you for understanding.
Theresa: Sure. [Exhales] Damn it.
Daniel: I have been reading up on drugs similar to this, but I--
Kayla: None of them have the same lab results as this one does.
Daniel: We're not just talking about lab tests, we are talking about Brady's father. I mean, we're not even sure that this will work.
Kayla: I think that we're at the point where we should do anything for john. You know, even if this drug doesn't work, for me, it's better than doing nothing.
Daniel: Yeah, but why did we have to get it from Kristen?
Kayla: By way of Stefano, no less. I've been thinking the same thing.
Daniel: Well, whether it works or not, we're giving her another chance to mess with Brady. And maybe this time... she'll destroy him.
Kristen: No, wait a minute. What's the matter? Don't you feel well? Where's the snappy comeback?
Marlena: You had your father develop an experimental drug to help john just to get one up on me. Now, come on, what is that?
Kristen: You know what, do whatever you want. Don't give him the drug. Why don't you just ship him off to some very sad facility and watch him die slowly, one inch at a time?
Marlena: You know, if you're involving Brady in this in some vain hope of getting him back, if you're getting his hopes up for no reason, there will be hell to pay.
Kristen: Oh, I'm scared, scared. Why hasn't Daniel told her? I know I gave him everything he needed. [Exhales] God, maybe Brady doesn't even know. Okay, look, this drug has to work. Just hold on, Kristen, this drug is going to work. That bastard better not double-cross me. [Gasps]
Brady: Hey, what was that phone call about? It was so mysterious, you-- you're in on this too?
Brady: This is about my dad, isn't it?
Daniel: Yeah, it is big news.
Ben: This isn't really much of a dinner, but--
Abigail: No, it's fine. It's great.
Ben: I wanted to take you to that new sushi spot near the pier, but--
Abigail: But then you saw your father and you weren't in the mood anymore, right?
Ben: When I didn't hear from him for a few days, I was hoping he kind of just left town.
Abigail: Are you worried that he's never going to leave?
Ben: He keeps saying he likes it here. He likes the people. But he keeps trying to get me to believe that he's not the same guy he was when I was a kid.
Abigail: But you don't believe him?
Ben: No, he knows how to turn on the charm when he wants something. But he'll never change. Not really.
Abigail: You know, my father wasn't perfect either. In fact, he was far from it and--
Ben: Abigail, my father is nothing like yours. If you saw the way he was--
Abigail: How was he, Ben? What did he do to you?
Ben: I'm not even going to get into it. I wanted this night just to be special for us.
Abigail: And it still can be.
Anne: So, I guess things didn't go well with Brady?
Theresa: They didn't go at all.
Anne: Well, what happened?
Theresa: Well, I was gearing up to tell him that his crazy ex-girlfriend was threatening to throw me in the river, and then he got a phone call, and just took off.
Anne: Oh, why?
Theresa: I don't know. He said it was work, I mean, at least that's what he said.
Anne: Okay, so is she really going to throw you in the river?
Theresa: She just wants me out of the way.
Anne: Well, then maybe you should get out of the way. I mean, if she's so scary. Look, there's no guarantee that Brady's just going to get all protective, and come running back to you.
Theresa: But it's a shot, Anne, and let's be honest, my window of opportunity is kind of closing here.
Theresa: [Exhales] God.
Anne: I mean look, maybe they'll transfer his father soon.
Theresa: No, 'cause then Brady'll be all worked up and I'll feel guilty about that. I-I-I, oh God, I don't know what to do. I don't--I don't know.
Anne: Well, you know, you may have better luck if you asked Brady for his protection in a cozy, say less fluorescent, environment, if you know what I mean.
Anne: Oh, my God. You're a genius.
EJ: Hmm, first Marlena and now you. I better get out of this place before I run into jack the ripper.
EJ: Well, I'm sure you could handle jack the ripper. Tell you what, you enjoy the fresh air and the freedom while you can, hmm?
Kristen: Look who's talking. Aren't you being indicted for cooking the books or something, EJ?
EJ: It's a white-collar crime. It's really small potatoes compared to drugging and raping a priest.
Kristen: And we could've helped each other until you went over to the other side.
EJ: My wife's side.
Kristen: No, your estranged wife's side. I mean, Jennifer's daughter, Chad's girlfriend, really?
EJ: I really don't see any point in talking to you about this.
Kristen: Well, neither do I. I find your domestic situation entirely too boring.
EJ: Wonderful, then why don't we just go our separate ways?
Kristen: Okay, you know what though, Eej? I just have to share this with you; father's been so incredibly helpful. I mean, really, he's been very supportive, and I think things are looking up for me.
EJ: Yeah? [Laughs]
Kristen: Mm-hmm. I really do.
EJ: Don't make me laugh.
Kristen: I wouldn't dream of it.
EJ: Why? What have you done?
Brady: What is all this?
Daniel: It's information on an experimental drug, one that's not even on the market.
Kayla: That's why we didn't tell you about it.
Daniel: And we think it may be able to bring your father out of his coma.
Brady: The--all the top specialists that you brought in, how come they didn't say anything about this drug?
Daniel: Because they didn't know about it.
Brady: The top guys in the field didn't know this drug existed? And you want to use this on my dad?
Daniel: Yes, yes. The drug reacts on nerve cells in the lower part of the brain, the brain stem.
Kayla: And these nerve cells are responsible for maintaining a waking state.
Daniel: They rely on neurotransmitters like neoepinephrine and dopamine to turn on cell groups in the upper part of the brain.
Kayla: We're really excited about this drug's potential.
Daniel: And we really don't see a down side. The only thing, the worst thing, that could actually happen is nothing.
Kayla: And john stays just like he is.
Daniel: So we need your permission to do this.
Daniel: As soon as possible.
Brady: This could bring him back?
Brady: Why didn't you tell me--why didn't you tell me about this before?
Kayla: We didn't want to get your hopes up until we had checked it out.
Brady: And did you?
Kayla: Yes. I want to do it. Let's do it.
Daniel: Okay, well, hold on. There's something else you need to know. The person who brought us this drug...it's Kristen.
Sami: You know when your daddy was little, I would give him these plums, I think it was, just a spoonful. And then he would blow this big raspberry, and all the plums would end up all over me, and he would have this big grin on his face. It was so funny to him. But that was a long time ago. I'll get you that address you need.
Theresa: Anne, Brady getting that phone call, it was a good thing because now I can tell him that I need to meet him somewhere private.
Anne: Yeah, like under a quilt with a roaring fireplace.
Theresa: And he can hold me tight and tell me that everything's going to be fine.
Anne: And then one thing could lead to another and--
Theresa: And luckily I know exactly where that place is.
Kristen: I thought you were so eager to get away from me.
EJ: My relationship with you is what came between me and Samantha. So if you can my father are cooking anything up that involves her in any way--
Kristen: You have got to be kidding me! She set you up. She had you arrested. She and Kate took the company away from you and father. And you're worried what she's going to think about what I'll do?
Kristen: See, team of wild horses, dessert cream, mashed potatoes, EJ DiMera--
EJ: What are you doing?
Kristen: Thinking up of a list of things that are whipped. When are you going to stop letting Sami do your thinking for you?
EJ: That's not how it works.
Kristen: Really? She allowed you to make me your enemy, and that was not smart.
EJ: [Chuckles] I'm shaking in my boots.
Kristen: You should be. [Exhales] Really? I haven't heard anything from Brady, not even a text. I have to know what's going on, I don't care what happens.
Brady: Kristen gave you this drug?
Brady: How did that happen?
Daniel: Well, remember when I found her in your dad's room? I think she got some information on his chart, and--
Daniel: Okay, whoever that is, you came here for an update on your dad's condition.
Marlena: I saw Kristen. She said you have the drug she wants for john.
Daniel: Yeah, come on in. Come on in.
Marlena: Oh, you told Brady.
Brady: I'm still trying to wrap my head around all of this, but... they're telling me that this drug may help him.
Marlena: Really? Are you sure?
Kayla: Daniel and I did research on the drug's properties.
Daniel: And an analysis on it's active ingredients. There is nothing that could harm john.
Marlena: So it's legitimate? There's--it's not a placebo?
Kayla: Mm-hmm, it could be the one thing that brings him back.
Marlena: Are you going to do it?
Brady: Yeah, I'm going to do it.
Daniel: In spite of the fact that Kristen made this happen?
Brady: I want to help my dad. I don't care where it came from. And you're telling me this could--could work.
Brady: Then what are we standing here for? Let's get down to the hospital and do this.
Daniel: Let's go. This is a pip.
Ben: I just wish things were less complicated for both of us.
Abigail: Yeah. You know, since we can't control what goes on around us, maybe--maybe we should keep things between us, you know, uncomplicated.
Ben: Really? Uh, how uncomplicated?
Abigail: Oh, no, I didn't mean completely uncomplicated.
Ben: Oh. [Chuckles] Well, good, because the two of us, that's one complication I've kind of been looking forward to.
Abigail: Oh, yeah?
Sami: So I sent it to you, the address. Did you get it?
Will: I got it, thanks.
Sami: Great. Anything else?
Will: Yeah. Arianna's not the only one who misses you.
Sami: [Chuckles] I guess I just don't understand, will, how could you miss someone who could do such horrible things that you had to write an article about it?
Will: I don't miss her. I miss the woman that I wrote about in the beginning of the article. You remember, I was in first grade. And I came home from school, and I told you about this big kid that punched me on the bus. The very next morning, you got on the bus with me, and you told that kid that if he ever messed with me again, he'd have to deal with you.
Will: I miss her.
Sami: Well, I'm that woman too. But I'm also a woman who was very deeply wounded by the man that she wants to spend the rest of her life with. And when someone hurts me, or the people I love, I hurt them back. And I'm willing to pay that price. I'm not a perfect person. I'm not a perfect mother. And I understand that if this was fiction, I wouldn't be the heroine. But you don't get to pick which parts of me you accept. You know, that's not love, and that's not what real family is all about. You don't have to agree with everything, or like all the decisions that I make, but... if you accept me, then you gotta take all of me. And if you don't, then--then that's your choice, but then you decide to walk away, and you--and you get nothing.
Clyde: Well, Mr. DiMera.
EJ: Pat him down.
Clyde: Hey, wait a second.
EJ: Let's go.
Clyde: All right, hold on. Mr. DiMera, I-I get it. I'm sorry.
Daniel: Well, we're all set up. I'll be giving your dad the injection in--in a few minutes.
Brady: Thanks. Okay, I think I've--I think I signed everything.
Kayla: All right, great. I'll make sure this gets in your dad's records, and you have his medical proxy, right?
Brady: Yes, and the hospital has a copy.
Anne: Oh, hi. Where have you been all morning?
Kayla: Why do you need to know?
Anne: Well, I'm just trying to find out when john black is going to be transferred.
Kayla: Well, you're head of human resources, so I don't think that Mr. Black's treatment is any of your business. Excuse me, thank you.
Brady: This has to be really hard for you.
Marlena: My only concern... our only concern... is your father's life. Now, let's hope.
Brady: Yeah. And I-I do believe that Kristen's doing this for me. And as much as I despise her now... I can't hate her for that.
Henderson: I didn't see Mr. Black come in. I don't think he's here.
Theresa: Oh, well he told me that he was coming here.
Henderson: Then perhaps I'm wrong.
Theresa: Perhaps you are.
Henderson: If I find him, I'll tell him you're waiting for him.
Theresa: You do that. Okay. [Exhales] Brady, I-I don't really know how to tell you this, but... it's about Kristen. Well, she knows we have this... relationship, and she said some really frightening things to me. Um... look, I-I didn't really want to bother you with this because you're so worried about your dad, but it's just that she really scares me. And I-I-I hear a noise in my apartment, and I think that she's broken in, and I-I can't sleep, or eat, or--
Both: What are you doing here? How you doing in there, baby girl?
Abigail: [Chuckles] Do you have to get that?
Ben: It could be my sister.
Abigail: Oh, yeah.
Ben: Yeah? He did? No, no, it's not a problem. I'll head over there now. All right.
Abigail: Was it Jordan?
Ben: Nope. The night shift manager at the club called in sick. Sonny needs somebody to cover and lock up.
Ben: You know, I could have asked them to find somebody else, but he's been so great--
Abigail: No, no, no, Ben, I-I totally get it. It's fine.
Ben: Are you sure?
Abigail: Yes, I'm sure. You are a responsible guy, and that is what I like about you.
Ben: [Chuckles] I promise you I will call you the minute I am done there.
Ben: The minute.
Will: I get what you say. About how you're a package deal. But you need to remember something, mom. I'm not a little boy anymore. I'm a grown man with a child of my own. And maybe I was out of line to write that article, but you can't expect me to like everything that you do.
Sami: [Exhales deeply]
Will: I'm my mother's son. And what you see is not always what you get. Well, we should get going. We have some cookies to send.
Sami: Does that mean I have to let go? Okay. I love you so much, sweetheart. I do, I just--just can't take it. Thank you for bringing her over. Of course. Thank you for the information. Okay, just the very last second, okay? [Laughs]
Will: Here we go.
Sami: Oh, okay, okay.
Will: Hi. Hi.
Will: Well, that wasn't so bad, was it? I mean, it could have been a lot worse.
Miguel: He's clean.
EJ: Make sure we're not disturbed. You've been pursuing me rather aggressively, Mr. Weston.
Clyde: That's the way I do business.
EJ: And why should I do business with you? Why should I trust you? In fact, can you give me one good reason why I should let you live?
Daniel: Well, I'm all set up to give him the injection now.
Brady: Come on, dad. This has to work.
Theresa: [Scoffs] Well, not that it's any of your business, but I came here to talk to Brady about you, and he isn't going to like the things that you said to me.
Kristen: He'll get over it.
Theresa: He's not going to get over you barging into his house, and neither will Victor.
Kristen: I think they both will. I'm here to deliver some amazing news.
Theresa: Oh, really, amazing news from you, really, huh?
Kate: Yeah, actually from me. I found a drug treatment for john. He's going to come out of a coma, he's going to make a complete recovery.
