Episode #12418 ~ Kate worries about EJ & Sami getting too close; Aiden & Hope get closer; JJ would like to be more intimate with Paige.

Provided By Suzanne

EJ: Samantha, I would spend the rest of my life making up for the hurt that I caused you if I thought that I could.

Sami: [Sobbing]

Kate: [Sighs] Oh, my God. Please tell me I'm not interrupting anything.

Kayla: Hope? Hope, are you all right?

Aiden: Looking for someone?

Nicole: Uh, yeah, actually I am. But if you'll excuse me, I have an interview that I'm about to conduct.

Aiden: With mark Newman?

Nicole: Yeah, how'd you know?

Aiden: Well, he's my client. I advised him not to talk to you.

[Knocking on door]

Jennifer: Hi.

Daniel: Hi. You...you look amazing.

Jennifer: Yeah, like that'll ever happen. Well, you never know. Hi.

Daniel: What...are you doing here?

JJ: Anyway, the party, you still down with it? I convinced you?

Paige: You're nothing if not convincing.

JJ: All right, well, you know it was hard. Great party verses studying with Marybeth--the uncool.

Paige: Don't be mean about her. I like it when you're nice.

JJ: Huh.

Paige: Every girl at that party is going to be jealous when I show up with you. [Laughs]

JJ: Let 'em be jealous. 'Cause I know who I want to be with.

Jill: He's cute--I mean, he's a kid. What gives?

Eve: Ah, come on, you've probably got a year on him at most. I mean, we change your working girl outfit and maybe put your hair up. I don't know, I think you could pass for a Salem u student.

Jill: I'll wear glasses.

Eve: It's just gonna be for one night. And I hear there's a really big party. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Nicole: What the hell? That interview has been on the books for weeks.

Aiden: Well, mark has been my client since this morning, so--

Nicole: Great, what is that supposed to mean?

Aiden: Well, it means he's not talking to you.

Nicole: I have been prepping for this. So you mean to tell me all that hard work was for nothing?

Aiden: Oh, I'm sorry, please do not take this the wrong way. I've heard some of your interviews--I don't think you worked all that hard.

Nicole: That is so out of line. How dare you...impugn my reporting skills.

Hope: Uh, yeah, yeah, I'm fine. I mean, losing your mind isn't that big a deal, is it?

Kayla: Well, you look pretty sane to me.

Hope: I'm sitting on church steps, thinking about... oh, lord, you wouldn't believe what I'm thinking about.

Kayla: I don't think you're losing your mind--I think you just need someone to talk to.

Hope: Okay, but not here on the church steps. Let's go somewhere else.

Kayla: Okay. All right.

Hope: Oh, boy, do I need to talk.

Jennifer: We were going to have coffee this afternoon--remember? Right?

Daniel: Here? Well, I thought I was going to meet you at club TBD.

Jennifer: Oh, yeah, I-- I was just in the neighborhood and I thought, "I'll pick him up." Really, my hidden agenda-- I wanted to say hi to Parker. Is he here?

Daniel: Yeah, yeah, he and Joanne are in his room.

Jennifer: Oh, that's great--

Daniel: But-- Jennifer, I'd rather you didn't see him.

Sami: Um, I was just telling EJ about how much the kids are enjoying summer camp.

Kate: Right. You were just talking about the kids. Well, I guess we have to thank EJ--did you tell him that we figured out what he did?

EJ: If you're talking about the evidence that came up regarding my father, I had nothing to do with it.

Kate: Oh, really? So Rafe dug up all that complicated evidence on Stefano's finances all by himself.

EJ: It certainly appears that way.

Kate: Oh!

EJ: You know what he's like, he's very dogged.

Kate: Well, there you go. Well, I guess however he obtained that information, he certainly did get it at the right time.

EJ: You do both realize that--that this just delays my father's return. I mean, he is coming back eventually, and when he does come back he's going to be very angry with both of you.

Aiden: Okay, look. What was your slant on mark Newman, hmm? Was it his foreign oil connections, maybe?

Nicole: Of course. I was going to touch on that.

Aiden: Really? Because other than putting the stuff in his car, there are no foreign oil connections.

Nicole: Oh, all right.

[Aiden chuckles]

Nicole: Full disclosure--I wasn't totally prepared for this interview.

Aiden: No!

Nicole: My producer, miles, was forcing me to do this story, and I didn't want to do it. Now I have an excuse.

Aiden: You're welcome.

Nicole: Normally I would thank you, but I've been in a foul mood lately.

Aiden: Well, if it makes you feel any better, I know exactly what you mean.

Nicole: You're in a foul mood?

Aiden: I'm in a foul mood.

Nicole: Well, all right, a fellow despondent. Wanna get a drink?

Aiden: As long as it's not alcoholic, sure.

Nicole: You'll never guess what I thought you just said.

Aiden: No, you heard correctly. It's just I say and do stupid things when I drink.

Nicole: Oh come on, don't be so hard on yourself. You say and do stupid things when you're sober, too.

Both: [Laughing]

Daniel: Look, I just thought today was going to be really casual. Just sort of catching up. You know, seeing if there was a ... a place that we could go.

Jennifer: Right.

Daniel: And it's been a while since we talked and I just thought taking it slow would be the right approach.

Jennifer: No, I feel the same way. But Parker?

Daniel: Look, right now I just wanna--I wanna keep him out of it.

Jennifer: Okay, Abigail and JJ see Parker--you have them babysit. So it's okay for them to see Parker, but I can't.

Daniel: That's right.

JJ: Okay, so there's two things I want you to know. Rory is going to be tagging along with us tonight, but he'll probably he'll probably just hook up with someone when we get there, so we'll be on our own.

Paige: Great.

JJ: And the other thing is that if we, you know, find the party getting boring or whatever, we can just go do something else.

Marybeth: I turn around and you're gone, and I'm stuck with--well, with that.

Paige: I was just coming to find you. We're talking about the party. I know we talked about hanging out tonight, but I think I wanna go.

Marybeth: Great, count me in.

JJ: What?

Marybeth: So, it all works out, I'll go to the party with you guys?

JJ: Uh, no, no, you won't. No way.

Jill: You know, a party could be fun. Depends, maybe I could even pass for a junior.

Eve: No, I don't know, I think with a different outfit and that beautiful smile of yours, it'll work. Play the part, and you'll turn heads at the same time.

Jill: Especially his, right? (Vo) if you have type 2 diabetes,

Paige: JJ, that's rude.

JJ: Do you think we can talk about this in private?

Marybeth: Of course. I know when I'm not wanted.

Rory: You love to stir it up, don't you?

Marybeth: Is that another one of your drug metaphors?

Rory: No. Oh, wait, it is. How do ya like that?

JJ: Okay, she can't come. She'll ruin everything.

Paige: So Rory can come but my friend can't.

JJ: Rory's fun to be around.

Paige: Not for me. Look, I know Marybeth has been awful to you at times. I don't like it either. But this could be a chance for you two to turn things around. And that would mean a lot to me. Because, in so many ways, Marybeth has been a friend to me.

JJ: All right, if you say so.

Paige: JJ, I have to go to class. Okay. Uh, we'll talk about this later and figure things out, okay?

Marybeth: Yeah.

Paige: Okay, bye.

JJ: All right, look, all right--you hate fun, so why do you want to go to a party?

Marybeth: Guess.

Jill: I mean, he's pretty cute. It's always nice when you enjoy your work, isn't it?

Eve: Please, don't get ahead of yourself.

Jill: I thought that it was pretty obvious that you wanted me to get this kid into the sack. I mean, when you said that you weren't comfortable asking me, I just--

Eve: First of all, I don't think you can get that boy in the sack.

Jill: You haven't seen me work.

Eve: Well, this boy's different. He's in what he considers to be "love."

Jill: All right... what are we talking about, here?

Eve: Appearances. I'm gonna show you some pictures of his friends in Paige's yearbook, and then we will come up with a plan. But you have to remember that this stays between us, all right? Otherwise I'm gonna go to the cops and show them the video of you stealing the wallet.

Jill: I already said okay. I want the 2 grand. Just tell me one thing.

Eve: What?

Jill: I don't have to hurt the kid, do I?

Nicole: You sure that's all you're gonna have?

Aiden: I don't know. Tell me what a disaster your life is and maybe I'll need a drink.

Nicole: A drink? More like a keg. I've completely succeeded in making Eric hate me.

Aiden: How?

Nicole: Well, I'd give you the details, but let's just go with: I have a problem with trust.

Aiden: He was a priest and you didn't trust him?

Nicole: I didn't trust myself.

Aiden: Hmm.

Nicole: Thanks.

Aiden: Another. Well. Um, well, you know, that time I saw you two at Jennifer and Daniel's party, you weren't getting along too well. Maybe it's just not meant to be.

Nicole: Thanks for the support. You're starting to sound like Marlena.

Aiden: I'm just saying that two people can be good, just not good for each other. Know what I mean?

Nicole: Hmm... you're talking about you and hope, right?

Aiden: [Laughing] What?

Nicole: What? I'm not blind, ya know.

Hope: So things have taken a rather uncomfortable turn. Aiden admitted he has feelings for me. And then he immediately said that he never wanted to act on them.

Kayla: Because you're married?

Hope: Oh, no, no, he clarified: He just doesn't want to see anyone.

Kayla: Don't you just love men? I mean, did you really need to know that?

Hope: And then I did the stupidest thing possible.

Kayla: Really?

Hope: No. No. Kay, not that. I was trying to help him.

Kayla: What?

Hope: I just thought that, you know, if he was involved with someone else, that it would, you know, take, you know, the pressure off. But then he overheard me talking and completely got the wrong impression when I tried to explain what I was really trying to do--which was help-- I was. I was trying to help him, Kay.

Kayla: Uh-huh.

Hope: Anyway, everything just got worse. You see, he'd had a drink and we kind of fought. And then...he did it.

Kayla: What?

Hope: He kissed me.

Kayla: Really? Did you kiss him back?

Hope: Oh, my God, I shouldn't be telling you this. I completely put you on the spot--I am sorry.

Kayla: Would you listen to me? You are closer to me than a sister. Bo is gone. He's unreachable. This makes sense.

Hope: I hate this situation. But at least now I know Aiden hates it too.

Kayla: So the two of you share that. Start from there. Start with some honesty.

Daniel: Jennifer, we are just at the beginning of trying to figure things out again. We don't know where this is going, but Parker doesn't. All that he knows is that he--he loves you.

[Phone ringing]

Jennifer: Excuse me. [Sniffling] I'm sorry, I have an emergency at the hospital.

Daniel: I'm--

Jennifer: We're gonna have to reschedule and just, um--

Daniel: I'm sorry--I'm sorry about that and--and everything.

Jennifer: Yeah, no, me too.

Daniel: I'm just--I'm sorry about everything.

Jennifer: I am too. I'll just--I'll just call you.

Daniel: Not so sure about that now.

Sami: Stefano is delayed, and that's what's important. We can use that, we can take time to figure out, you know, what to do, right? Like...how to handle him.

Kate: Handle Stefano. Really, Sami?

EJ: No, no, I think Samantha's right. I think this reprieve--even if it's only temporary--could be quite useful. The last thing I want is to see my father exact his revenge on either one of you.

[Phone ringing]

EJ: Excuse me.

Kate: Are you out of your mind? I-I-I can't believe you! (Announcer) are you dealing with hot flashes during menopause?

EJ: Just give me the basics. You're sure Mr. Weston is legitimate? And how long has he been doing business in Missouri? Okay, set up a meeting. Mr. Weston needs to have no doubt who is in charge.

[Phone ringing]

Kate: Sami, EJ has been working you, hasn't he? Hasn't he? He's trying to worm his way back into your life. He's trying to get you to forgive him, and you are listening to him.

Sami: You just sound so paranoid.

Kate: No, I'm right. Do you need a refresher course on what a jerk he's been to you, the horrible things he's done to you?

Sami: No, okay, I don't! I gave as good as I got.

Kate: You know, even if the score card was even, that was before he started doing Abigail Deveraux.

Sami: Did you have to say the name?

Kate: Sami, seriously, if you could kiss and make up after that, please, please, tell me that you are not going to forgive him. Because--

Sami: What? What, Kate? 'Cause I actually might have a chance at being happy instead of alone and miserable and bitter, like... like you?

EJ: Father, I was just about to call you. Listen, I did a little bit of digging. You were right, it was Rafael Hernandez who dug up all the evidence, probably with some help from the state investigators. But it is solid.

Stefano: I'm sure that it is.

EJ: I really don't think you can risk coming back to Salem right now.

Stefano: No. [Chuckles] What a fortunate turn of events for Samantha and Katarina.

Kayla: Well, it's on the table that Aiden is attracted to you and that he has problems being attracted to you. But at least you know how he feels. Does he know how you feel?

Hope: How can he know how I feel when I don't know how I feel.

Kayla: Then just tell him you're confused.

Hope: Oh, Kay...

Kayla: But pretending you don't feel anything is really kind of lying to him, isn't it? I mean, if you're not interest, okay, okay, fine. Or if you're interested and it seems too complicated, okay, fine, fine. But aside from all that, for God's sake, if you feel guilty about it, stop. You have nothing to feel guilty about. All right, listen, I'm sorry but I've gotta go.

Hope: Okay, sure, leave me.

Kayla: Level with the guy. He'll follow your lead.

Aiden: You know, we barely know each other. Don't you think it's a little presumptuous to comment on me and hope?

Nicole: Well, I've seen enough and I know how much time you two spent together on the gala.

Aiden: Well, that proves it. Investigative reporting...fail. Because, let me tell you something. At that horrible party, you and Eric were not the only two not getting along, okay? Hope and I, we just--we don't line up, okay? We're--we're different.

Nicole: So what you're saying is...she's a bitch.

Aiden: I did not say that.

Nicole: No you didn't, I did.

JJ: Do you have a minute?

Daniel: Actually, I do.

JJ: Okay. All right, look, so I know this might not sound like a lot, but Paige has this friend that hates me. And she, like, hates that Paige and I are together.

Daniel: You know, life would be a lot simpler if women weren't friends with other women.

JJ: Totally.

Daniel: Right. Come on and have a seat.

JJ: Okay, um, I mean, Paige is so great, but her friend is a pain in the butt, man. And now she's tagging along to this party tonight.

Daniel: So, the problem is Paige will be focused on her and not you.

JJ: I don't know, I guess it kinda--kinda sounds kinda selfish, maybe... maybe 'cause it is, it's just... it's more than that, Daniel. It's Marybeth has this way of reminding me of the guy that I used to be. You know, she won't let me forget it.

Eve: No, I don't want JJ hurt physically. I mean, he's not a horrible boy, it's just that, I don't know, something's just gotta change.

Jill: What needs to change? Tell me.

[Door clattering]

Paige: Mom, I'm home! Hi.

Eve: Hi.

Paige: Mom, is something wrong?

Eve: No, no, I could ask you the same thing, actually. You know, I--read your class schedule and-- but what are you doing home?

Paige: First day of class. The professor handed out the syllabus and split. Apparently he's never heard of email.

Eve: Hey! Um, where are you going?

Paige: Uh, my room. I left a printout that I need for my last class.

Eve: Oh, isn't it right over there?

Paige: Oh yeah. Great. I also came by because I wanted to tell you I'm going out tonight. There's a big beginning of school party.

Eve: Oh, right. You know, yeah, I think I saw a flyer about that, right?

Paige: Mom, you don't have to worry about me, okay? Come here. I'll see you later, okay?

Eve: Okay. Have fun.

Jill: Okay, now I'm beginning to figure out why you're going after this kid.

Daniel: All right, JJ, who you were isn't important. Who you are now, that's what matters, man.

JJ: Well, that's not how Marybeth sees it.

Daniel: Well, that's her problem. You gotta try--you gotta try and not let it get to you. See if you can just be chill around Marybeth, then Paige doesn't have to defend her. Let Paige stick up for you, not the other way around. Let Paige see you're being the bigger person.

JJ: You're really good at this.

Daniel: Well, I don't know about that, but I've navigated these waters before, so--

JJ: Right, right. Well, thank you, thank you.

Daniel: You bet, man.

JJ: I better get going.

Daniel: Yeah, get out of here.

JJ: Hey, mom told me that you two are getting together for coffee.

Daniel: Yeah--well, we had to reschedule it, but we'll make it happen.

JJ: All right. You know how I feel about that, man. But, uh, I just hope that coffee is a start of working things out. Just want you guys to be happy.

Daniel: All right, thanks.

JJ: See ya later.

Daniel: Yeah.

Jennifer: Okay, just let me know if you have any more problems. All right.

Kayla: What are you doing here?

Jennifer: I work here.

Kayla: No, you were supposed to be at a coffee with Daniel.

Jennifer: Yeah, well, I had to cancel for work. You know, maybe it's for the best, because I stopped by his apartment and we just got off on the wrong foot. He told me that he didn't want me to see Parker anymore.

Kayla: Yikes.

Jennifer: So, he knew where we stood with each other. And you know what, he's right. I mean, I don't want to bond with that little guy again if we don't know if this is gonna work again. And I love that about him, I love how he looks out for his son. It just caught me off guard, and I wasn't at my best so chances are we're not gonna reschedule any of this.

Kayla: You know what my advice is--make it for tonight.

Jennifer: Kayla, it's coffee and he likes to spend his evenings with Parker, and that's important.

Kayla: Well, you know what, I happen to know that Parker has plans--a movie and a sleep-over with Maggie.

Jennifer: Oh--tonight?

Kayla: Um-hum. So if ever there was a time to take the initiative, I think it's right now.

Jennifer: You know what-- okay, you might be right.

Kayla: Well, that does happen, time to time, you know.

EJ: Well, I think you just need to be patient. Your hands are tied at the moment.

Stefano: But not forever. Those women have given me no choice but to have my revenge.

EJ: Did you see the video that I sent you of the kids at camp?

Stefano: Ah ha ha, yes, I did.

EJ: You know, they miss their nonno very, very much.

Kate: Do you seriously think EJ is going to make you happy?

Sami: Well, I think that he's the man I-- I'm just--I'm just thinking, that's all I'm doing.

Kate: No, no, no, no! I know exactly what you're thinking right now.

Sami: I got my revenge. You know, I made my point. Believe me, I made it. And now it's just...like what next? I mean, come on, Kate, is it really so wrong for me to want to find happiness or meaning and love in my life?

Kate: Or are you just tired of sleeping alone, Sami?

Sami: I just know I don't wanna end up like you.

Aiden: I didn't know you had such strong feelings about hope.

Nicole: Nothing makes that woman happier than when she's mirandizing someone. Especially me. That look, that judgmental attitude. She just enjoys seeing me fail-- at life, at work, with men.

Aiden: Didn't realize you were that much on her radar.

Nicole: I dated her nephew, the ex-priest--how do you think she feels about me? Here's what I don't get about her.

Aiden: Hmm.

Nicole: The stupid nickname that her husband calls her, "fancy-face." I call her "frowny-face." [Laughs]

Aiden: That's, uh...

Nicole: Dead on! [Laughs]

Aiden: Pretty funny.

Nicole: [Laughing] Oh, boy.

Nicole: Could it be she's frowning?

Hope: You two seem to be having a great time.

Nicole: Yeah, yeah, we were. Well, you know what, it's time for me to tell that crew the interview has been cancelled. So hope, always great to see ya.

Hope: Really? "Frowny-face"?

Aiden: You heard that? Look, she's drinking, she's kidding around.

Hope: Well, I'm glad I could provide you two with a good laugh-- at my expense.

Aiden: I'm sorry, but--

Hope: But what?

Aiden: I don't even know why you came over here. I thought you said it was best that we kept our distance.

Glad I tracked you down. That lab wanted you to have this, ASAP.

Kayla: Ah, is that the report of the proposed drug treatment for John Black?

Yes.

Kayla: Well, let's see what it says.

Daniel: Eh... [Sighs]

[Phone ringing]

Daniel: Hello?

Kayla: Hi, Daniel, it's Kayla. Listen, I have the lab report and I want you to take a look at it.

Daniel: All right, I'll be right there.

Kayla: That's okay, I'll come to you.

Eve: She has so much life ahead of her. She's just starting out and so much promise. She hasn't made the mistakes that I have made over the years with men. I mean, huge mistakes. And my goal is to make sure that she never does.

Jill: So how do you propose to stop her?

Eve: We-- we are gonna stop her. Tonight.

Paige: But Marybeth, it's not like you were nice and polite and then he was rude. You kind of give as good as you get.

Marybeth: So it's okay for him to talk to me like that?

JJ: Okay, no, it's not, um... Marybeth, I'm sorry. I just get certain things in my head and I don't really react well to a change in plans. But, hey, the more, the merrier, right? So I'm sorry I was such a jerk.

Paige: Can't you just say, "great, no hard feelings"?

Marybeth: Right.

Rory: Oh, we are going to have such fun tonight.

Paige: Uh, can I talk to you for second?

JJ: Yeah?

Paige: Yeah.

Rory: So, Marybeth, you read any good books lately? What's your class schedule like? Do you have any tats?

Marybeth: Go ahead and be as mean and awful as you want to be, but I'm going to that party and you can't stop me.

JJ: All right, what is it?

Paige: This.

Kate: You know, Sami, we're co-CEOs of a huge corporation, and yet we're in the crosshairs of a madman seeking revenge.

EJ: Well, that about sums it up. I spoke to my father, he's delaying his return but he's certainly hell-bent on coming back. And when he did, he said-- well, it was in Italian, but let's just say he's not planning on taking the two of you out for tea.

Sami: You couldn't dissuade him?

EJ: No. Not since this whole thing went public, Samantha. The board knows that you duped him. For father, this is about saving face, and nothing is as important as saving face.

Kate: You know, this is really all your fault, Sami. You practically dared will to write that article.

Sami: All right. The point is the article's out, right, so let's focus on what we can do to fix it.

Kate: There's no "I" in "we."

Sami: What is that supposed to mean?

Kate: Means that I'm realizing, more and more, that it's every woman for herself. Adios, partner.

Sami: Kate.

Hope: I know what I said. And I meant it.

Aiden: And I've been trying to honor that. But you were the one who walked up to me and Nicole, and you're the one who sat down and made herself comfortable.

Hope: Well, now that I know that you make fun of me behind my back, it won't happen again. So, Mr. Jennings, um, good-bye. And have a great life.

Eve: Shopping? Got a hot date?

Jennifer: Just doing what I can for the Salem economy, eve.

Eve: You know what, I'm really sorry that, you know, I didn't have the time to talk when you came over.

Jennifer: Oh, right. Yeah, you were so anxious to get back to your movie. But listen, what I wanted to say to you before I left so quickly is that I was just hoping maybe we could just put this unpleasantness behind us, you know, and just be civil with each other--for the sake of our children.

Eve: You know, I am so glad to hear you say that, 'cause I feel exactly the same way. You know, I bet you they have something really, really fun planned tonight, don't they?

Jennifer: Yeah, they do. It's a big school party.

Eve: Gosh, I miss being that age. Don't you? I mean-- you know what, I bet it's just going to be tons and tons of fun. See ya.

JJ: You know, being with you in a crowd at a party is one thing, but what we just don't get enough of is being together... alone. Maybe soon, I just... I just--I just really wanna show you how much I love you.

Rory: It's been real, and it's been fun, but it hasn't been real fun.

Jill: I think you're better off without her.

Rory: You got that right.

Jill: Uh, I think I saw you this afternoon. You, um...go to Salem u, right?

Rory: Right.

Jill: Are you going to the big party tonight?

Rory: I am now.

Daniel: Hey, thanks for coming.

Kayla: Yeah, I have been over this, but I want you to look at it. It's a complete rundown on the drug that Kristen says will bring john out of his coma.

Daniel: Either it's a lie or this is john's best... last chance.

Sami: Never mind about Kate, you know, she's just panicking, being her usual self. She knows that we're all in this together, don't worry.

EJ: That's right. We are all in this together. Okay? I plan on keeping my promise, Samantha--I will protect you from my father.

Sami: Seriously? I mean, you're really gonna do this... even after everything I did to you?

EJ: Well, after what I did to you, I don't expect anything less. So I assume that Kate used her time with you to try to make you doubt everything I said to you, everything I felt--all of it.

Sami: Yeah. She did. She didn't succeed.
