Abigail: Yeah, of course. Yeah, we use that program at the hospital all the time. Yes, I did used to work at the university hospital. No problem. Yeah, I'll get the recommendation from them and I will get back to you as soon as I can, thanks. Okay.
Clyde: Hi there, Abigail.
Jordan: Hey, kid. Want to grab a bite with me when you're done?
Ben: Closing tonight.
Ben: You seen Rafe?
Jordan: I told him that I no longer want to see him and he's respecting that.
Ben: Oh. And you wish he wouldn't.
Rafe: Hey. Thanks for meeting me.
Kate: Got your text.
Kate: I hope this is good news, I hope you worked things out with Jordan.
Rafe: Yeah, is that really what you want to hear?
Sonny: How'd it go with the editor? That well?
Will: She thinks my mom and EJ's break up and her taking over the company is a great story and that my account is compelling and well-written.
Will: Story's gonna be published any day now.
Sonny: That's great.
Will: So are you gonna give your mom a heads up?
Sami: I just got the kids to bed, so please don't wake them up.
EJ: I won't.
Sami: I hope you understand that I am going back to the police station. I am going to have an officer come down here and enforce that restraining order.
EJ: Samantha, there really isn't any reason--
Sami: You think something's changed? Do you think something's gotten better in the last couple hours? Then on top of everything else, now you are helping your psychotic sister get away with what she did to my brother? You should pack your bags, dirtball.
Brady: Kristen is here?
Brady: I mean, how? What did--she just showed up?
Marlena: No, she was arrested. She's in custody.
Kristen: Hello, father. I am in a jam.
Marlena: Daniel brought her back from St. Louis.
Brady: Daniel found Kristen?
Marlena: No, more like she found him. She... she kidnapped him on a business trip. He managed to turn the tables and then he brought her back to Salem.
Brady: She's at the station? Now? Since when?
Marlena: Just tonight. We all tried to contact you and let you know what was happening, tried to warn you-- Brady? Brady, where are you going?
Brady: I'm finally gonna have it out with that bitch.
EJ: Look, that is not what happened. Would you please just listen to me for a second?
Sami: Aren't you tired of that? Aren't you tired of having to explain all your stupid decisions, all the groveling?
EJ: Yes, I am. Thank you, I am bone-weary of it. There is no one else on earth, save our children, for whom I would run around apologizing for my very existence. Just you, Samantha.
Sami: Spare us both.
EJ: Okay. For the first time in weeks, I am not sorry...
Sami: No, no, of course not.
EJ: For something that--
Sami: Why should you be? No, you cheated on me, and now you're doubling down on that by helping your scummy sister.
EJ: Would you just please listen to me while I'm--
Sami: You're lying? You're lying, right? 'Cause you're still breathing, you're still alive, your lips are moving, so...
Sami: Obviously you're lying.
EJ: Would you just please... wait.
Clyde: Do you mind if I sit for a minute?
Abigail: Uh, sure, yeah.
Clyde: I appreciate it. Listen, um, I know things were a little, uh, tense the other day with my boy. I thought it might be helpful if I spoke to you one-on-one. You know, there are some things that have never been right between me and Ben.
Abigail: Well, I-I think that uh, maybe you should talk to Ben about that.
Clyde: Well, the truth is I was, uh-- I was a terrible father to Ben and Jordan. I mean, they left because I drove them away and that has haunted me since the day they took off. It's no wonder that they don't want anything to do with me.
Abigail: I-I don't know why you're telling me this.
Clyde: My boy needs-- well, he deserves good people in his life. Especially after the childhood I gave him. You make him happy. And I'm-- I'm so grateful for that.
Jordan: Have you seen Rafe?
Ben: He hasn't been in.
Jordan: Really? Hmm, see I would have thought after you beat him to a pulp, he'd be hanging out here all the time.
Ben: Maybe I went a little hard on him, but he hurt you. Nobody gets to do that.
Jordan: Well, thank you for the sentiment, I think.
Ben: Jordan, you'll get better. You'll get over him. Unless... do you want Rafe back?
Kate: You don't think I want you to be happy?
Rafe: Well, I'd hope so.
Kate: But you doubt it.
Kate: You were there--you were there when I talked to her. I don't know if I could fall on my sword more empathetically. What--I told her that what happened between us was my fault.
Rafe: Yeah, uh-huh. I heard.
Kate: You know, I have been a good friend to you.
Rafe: So that's all it was? You took on Stefano DiMera for coming after me--you risked revenge from Stefano--for a friend?
Will: Why does mom need a heads up?
Sonny: You need to ask me that? Really?
Will: Every word in that article is true and it could have been so much worse.
Sonny: It's still pretty devastating.
Will: [Scoffs] My mom will be fine.
Sonny: Not if she's blindsided, will. I mean, come on, an expose written by her son? Doesn't she deserve a chance to be prepared?
Will: Oh, a chance. A chance--a chance like she gave Abigail when she barged into her house and showed Jennifer those pictures of her with EJ? Or--or a chance like how she blackmailed Kayla into firing Abigail from the hospital? No, my mom blindsides people with nasty information all the time. Just ask your mom.
Sonny: My mom?
Will: Oh, yeah. Yeah. I doubt she was given any kind of a-a heads up when my mom told your mom that your dad was having an affair with Kayla, which was a total lie.
Sonny: Sami did what?
EJ: Okay. Look, just-- don't you at least want to know what happened with Kristen?
Sami: Like you'd tell me the truth?
EJ: She did ask me to defend her. And I told her "no way in hell." I told her if I was going to help anybody, I would help the prosecution. And that what she did to your brother was reprehensible and unspeakable.
Sami: Wow, it's really nice to hear your concern for my brother all of a sudden.
EJ: I have always had concern for your brother, Samantha. And I've had concern for you and Brady, your entire family. That's how this whole situation got started.
Sami: You know what? I can't, I just can't.
EJ: If I could take back one day in my life it would be that day. This whole thing started then with Kristen. I was loyal to a member of my family who did not deserve it. Never again. She is dead to me. That is what I told her.
Sami: And I should believe you, why?
EJ: Look at me and you will know.
Sami: I looked at you. I looked in your eyes for months and you were lying to me and I had no idea. So, no, I'm pretty sure I don't even know who you are anymore.
EJ: Look at me. Everything I just told you... is true. (Vo) if you have type 2 diabetes,
Kate: [Scoffs] So, what? Do people not go out of their way for friends, only for lovers?
Rafe: It was a lot more than going out of your way. You put your life on the line for me.
Kate: Okay, fine. Fine. Maybe incurring Stefano's wrath is a risky proposition.
Rafe: Uh, yeah.
Kate: But I did it willingly, and I did it without hesitation, and I would do it for--for any of my friends.
Kate: Besides that, I think, actually, I was itching to come up with an excuse to go after the old bastard.
Kate: Look... I was the one who broke up with you. You--you remember that, right?
Rafe: Yeah, I remember-- thank you--vividly, yes.
Kate: Okay, I mean, and as much fun as that was, I knew it wasn't going further. I knew that you wanted more than that. And I was happy that you found that. You found it with Jordan.
Rafe: Yeah, I thought I did. I'm trying to respect her wishes.
Kate: What are her wishes?
Rafe: She wants me to stay away.
Kate: Oh, my God. I-I wish there was something I could do to make her see that I'm not the problem. It's crazy. I mean, of--out of everyone, I mean, I'm the last person who is a threat to her. I mean, I don't want to be tied down. I mean, I've been there, done that. I've always been an independent woman. I don't need a man to make me feel relevant. Even my ex-husband didn't get that.
Rafe: I got it.
Kate: I know. I know you got that. Look, I-I was so happy for you and Jordan. And if I've wrecked that for you, I am not gonna forgive myself.
Jordan: The jury is still out on Rafe.
Ben: I thought he was a good guy.
Jordan: Yeah, me too. I listened to my voice mails today--the old ones that he left.
Ben: Oh, my God.
Jordan: I know. I'm like a teenager. It's so pathetic. You know, it'd be nice if I'd had some adult relationships, so I knew how to handle this.
Ben: Well, maybe you should talk to a friend, Jordan.
Jordan: Rafe was the best friend I had. But don't worry. I'm gonna bounce back from this.
Jordan: [Sighs] Have you seen Clyde?
Ben: No, not since before the fight.
Jordan: Me neither. I mean, it's probably too much to hope for, but maybe he went back to poplar bluff.
Abigail: Mr. Weston, um...
Clyde: Please, it's Clyde. No need to be formal.
Abigail: Oh, okay, Clyde, um, you know, the thing is, Ben and I are--we're just--we're taking things slowly.
Clyde: That's good. Smart girl--there's no need to rush into anything. It doesn't change the way you feel about him, does it? 'Cause I was watching you the other day when Ben got so riled up with me. I want you to know that he has a right to that anger. Same as Jordan. It really weighed on me after they left. I had to talk to somebody... [Chuckles] A doctor. You know, where I'm from, they think you got to be nuts to talk to a shrink, but I went. I drove two hours each way every week. And I'm glad I did. I-I got a handle on things. I came to understand that... my kids--they don't owe me forgiveness. So I got to stick around... and hope that they find someplace in their heart for me. Well, Abigail, thank you for listening.
Brady: Kristen, where the hell are you?
Marlena: Brady, I'm sure she's in a cell.
Brady: Kristen. Anyone seen Kristen DiMera?
Sir, you got to calm down.
Brady: Hey, hey, hey, whoa.
Marlena: Listen to him. He said, "calm down."
Brady: Are you, um... [Clears throat] I'm calm. Where is Kristen DiMera? Is she here?
She is in custody, so nobody can see her tonight.
Brady: Are you new here? I'm sorry. I don't recognize you. Sorry. Do you read the papers? Do you know who you have here right now? Do you know who she is?
Marlena: This man cannot take you to her.
Brady: Let me tell you something--this woman destroyed my family, twice. It's like a 20-year serial crime that's still going on in slow motion, so here's the deal. Before the media gets to her and the lawyers get to her, I'd like to have a word with her. I'd actually like to look her in the eye and have her answer to me. So you're gonna bring her out here. Bring her out here. I want to see her now!
Kristen: Well, I know that you and EJ have been having your problems with Kate and Sami, so maybe it's a good thing that I'm in Salem, huh? Maybe I can, uh... I don't know--maybe I can help. Well, I know. I wouldn't be in Salem at all if it wasn't for that stupid doctor. Yes, I know he saved EJ and Chad's life, blah, blah, blah, but that was then, and this is now, father. And he ruined a perfect plan. Are you aware of that? It was perfect. Oh, you know what's really interesting about this, though? As angry as I could be with that doctor, are you aware of what EJ did to me? He turned his back on me. He betrayed me. Yes, he betrayed me. And you know what happens to a DiMera when they betray another DiMera. There is a very, very steep price to pay.
Sami: Well, you finally decided to ditch your psycho sister. Congratulations. It doesn't change anything.
EJ: You know what it means for a DiMera to turn his back on a member of his family.
Sami: You want a medal?
EJ: Don't pretend you don't understand. I chose you, Samantha. I'm all-in. I chose you and our children, our family.
Sami: The children are exactly why I have to get you out of here before I--
EJ: Before what? W-w-what is going to happen?
EJ: Hmm? Nothing, huh?
Sami: Nothing. [Scoffs] Definitely nothing. I'm gonna get that through your thick skull. I am never going to forgive you. Is that clear?
EJ: Got it. Nothing's going to happen. I completely understand, and you will never forgive me. So what is the harm in me staying here? The children are happy that I'm here.
Sami: I've already worked out what I'm going to say to the children.
EJ: Really? And what about everybody else? Not that many people know what's happened.
Sami: I don't care who knows what you did.
EJ: Yeah? You sure about that?
Sami: The board doesn't know. The investors don't know. And there's no reason for them to find out.
EJ: You kick me out of this house, word will get around.
Sami: You wouldn't.
EJ: Oh, I wouldn't have to. Look, I have no interest in my private life becoming public fodder. But for you... for you, discretion is critical.
Will: So your mom went to go talk to my mom to give her grief about how she was treating Abigail. So my mom made up this lie about how EJ had Justin followed when they were working together and that there were pictures of your dad and Kayla together.
Sonny: That is not okay.
Will: That is my mom. If she gets hurt, she doesn't care who she hurts back. I mean, your mom? Why?
Sonny: I don't know. Maybe to show my mom how she felt, to justify her anger towards Abigail. That is a pathetic excuse, sonny Kiriakis, and you know it, which is why I hope that this article serves as a wake-up call. She's gonna be so busy answering for her own outrageous behavior that she'll be forced to leave everyone else alone.
EJ: You've just taken over as CEO. Now, the board--they think that that was done with my blessing and father's.
Sami: Well, I proved to them it was a good idea.
EJ: No, no, you've done a good job so far.
Sami: "So far"?
EJ: They were rightly very concerned when I was arrested. Now my father is "absent." Kristen--she's in lockup... with the CEO of this company about to face a very public, very ugly trial... a lot of ugly press. And you know what those old boys are like.
Sami: I can handle those old boys.
EJ: Sure you can. Absolutely. You're CEO for six months. Nobody can do anything about it. But... what happens if they start pulling out their money? Hmm? What happens to your big plan for the company if they start panicking?
Sami: You know my plan for the company.
EJ: Yeah, I know your plan for the company. Yes, you're gonna leave me destitute, sell off everything I had, leave me in a puddle of my own tears, crying into my Prada suits.
Sami: You still think we're playing?
EJ: I do not.
Sami: Don't pretend I can't hurt you.
EJ: You do that every minute... every time you look away. And you don't need a company to do that, Samantha. But you have one. So I would like to see you win.
Sami: You try to use those kids to hurt me, if you even lift a finger to help your sister--
EJ: I will pack my bags and head out the door. [Exhales deeply]
Rafe: Whatever happens with me and Jordan, it won't be your fault, okay?
Kate: Okay. Let's make sure of that, though. I mean, I think it's the reason you asked me to meet you here, isn't it?
Rafe: I hope you understand.
Kate: Of course I understand. I'm going to keep my distance. But if you have a problem, you call me.
Rafe: Thank you.
Rafe: All right.
Kate: All right.
Clyde: Wasn't that the fella my little girl's dating?
Jordan: Something Rafe said.
Ben: Don't tell me he had some excuse.
Jordan: No, there's no excuse for sleeping with Kate. Even Rafe knows better than that. You know, I did leave him in the dark so long about us, our past. And he felt shut out.
Ben: No, no, no, just stop. In no way is this your fault, Jordan.
Jordan: Well, you're certain.
Ben: Are you just looking for a way to take Rafe back?
Jordan: I just don't get it, okay? After everything that happened, how can I still be in love with him?
Will: So what should we toast to first?
Will: How about true vista? For being willing to give a new writer a chance. That is the first miracle.
Sonny: No, let's start with you.
Will: Okay, me.
Sonny: To my... talented husband.
Will: [Laughs] To my husband, for being understanding even when he doesn't approve.
Sonny: I just hope your family doesn't go ballistic.
Will: No, in Sami wars, this is nothing. Trust me, I have been in the middle of the battlefields a lot. We're a tough bunch.
Sonny: Does your grandma and great-grandma--does everyone know what happened?
Will: Well, I mean, I'm sure with the amount of spewing that my mom did, they've heard, albeit, probably my mom's own version, which involves her being the victim, which is why this article's good. It will serve as a fair and balanced account of what happened. To balance.
Will: Zoe thinks this is gonna get picked up nationally.
Will: We'll see. I mean, I'm still such a green writer. I just... I can't believe that I got this chance.
Sonny: But you took the chance, and you ran with it. That's what's important. To my husband, will Horton... writer.
Sami: Yes, Mr. Shin. I think that reorganization is a very good idea. And I'm so glad that you agree. No, EJ's not here right now, but I will pass along to him your--
EJ: Darling, I'm home!
Sami: What? Oh, yes. Yes, he--he just walked in. Okay. Yeah, no, of course. One wrong word.
EJ: Give me the phone. [Speaking foreign language] Delightful to hear from you. So tell me, how is your son doing at Yale?
Brady: I just--
Sir, if you don't stop, I will arrest you.
Brady: Great, great, arrest me. Put me in a cell right next to Kristen DiMera. That's the DiMera wing, where they get special treatment, where most of the cops are on the payroll. You're not one of them, are you?
Marlena: You know what? You are gonna get yourself arrested. Please excuse this fool. Get over here right now.
Marlena: You listen to me. This is--look at me. Look at me. This is exactly what she wants. Are you kidding? You want to play into her hands?
Brady: She doesn't want to hear what I have to say, Marlena.
Marlena: She won't hear what you have to say. She won't even listen to you. She just wants you here. That's why she kidnapped Daniel--to lure you to her. That's all she wants. Are you gonna give her exactly what she wants? Are you?
EJ: I couldn't agree more. Samantha and Kate are doing a wonderful job, absolutely. Well, it's good to get fresh blood at the top--that's what I always say. Right. You know, I've very lucky, Mr. Shin. My wife is as smart and accomplished as she is beautiful. [Laughs] You're very kind. What? No, uh, actually, that idea was all Samantha and Kate's, though my father obviously kept an eye on things, as did I. I'm happy you're happy. Wonderful. Okay, but we'll talk soon. I'll pass along your regards to my father. Thank you. Bye-bye. There... that could not have gone better if you'd scripted it yourself.
Sami: Don't get used to it, EJ. Do not think that I trust you for one minute just because of one phone call or that I'm going to forgive and forget because of this.
EJ: Okay, never mind all that stuff. Listen... you have to pay attention to what I have to say, because you're playing a very dangerous game.
Ben: You were really there with Rafe. That's not something that's just gonna dry up and disappear in a couple of days.
Jordan: I did get angry... really, really angry.
Ben: Well, good. That's a start... if you want to get over him. But right now you want to see him.
Ben: Jordan, it's all over your face. You don't want to get over Rafe.
Jordan: Look, I-I don't know.
Ben: Well, then maybe you should go talk to him... see how it feels.
Rafe: Kristen DiMera's behind bars? [Chuckles] That's two DiMeras in one month. It's like Christmas in august. Yeah, I guess their luck is running out. Well, it couldn't happen to a more deserving crew, now, could it? Yeah. Listen, send me the report, and I'll be in later. All right.
Jordan: Wow. That was some impressive movement.
Rafe: We do not need Pete. We can handle this.
Jordan: You need to...
Rafe: To what-- listen to my body? I am. And what about you? Hmm? What's your body telling you?
Clyde: Looks like you and that raff are--
Kate: His name is Rafe.
Clyde: Rafe. Right. Well, it looks like the two of you are pretty good friends.
Kate: Yeah, we are.
Clyde: I would have said hello, but Jordan-- she wasn't real keen on me talking to him. In fact, between us... she ain't real happy with me being around just yet. Don't you worry. You did a good deed, and someday you'll get credit for that.
Kate: You know, I really-- I really don't want credit for that, Mr. Weston.
Clyde: Well, you'll never get any credit from me until you start calling me "Clyde."
Clyde: I mean, "Mr. Weston" was fine when we first met. Remember... back in poplar bluff?
Kate: You know, I really don't think there's any point in telling Jordan that I came to see you. I just--I think she would misinterpret my motives.
Clyde: I didn't. I got that right away. You were just looking out for a friend. We all need friends. Don't we, Kate? Good to see you. So, duke, what do you think of our new bush's baked beans video game?
Sami: EJ, I am taking care of business.
EJ: Samantha, you need to listen to what I have to say.
Sami: I don't need your help, actually, EJ. I don't need your help at all.
[Cell phone rings]
Sami: Hello? Rosemary, what's-- now? It's really late, isn't it? Really? Um, I-I-I'll be on my way. I have--I have to get ready. Uh, okay, bye.
Sami: I'm going out.
EJ: No, you have to hear what I have to--
Sami: If it's about business, then you can tell it to Kate. Hi.
Kate: Tell me what? Where is Samantha going?
EJ: I'm the last person she would tell. Would you like a drink?
Kate: No, we haven't hired food tasters yet, although I don't think I would take anything you offered.
EJ: Kate, if I were going to poison you, I would wait until I were a long way away from the scene. And what I have to say... one of you needs to hear.
Kate: What you have to say?
EJ: It's important.
Sonny: Will Horton, writer. Will Horton, writer.
Sonny: Writer. I could play this all day.
Will: All night.
Sonny: We need you to write lots and lots of articles.
Will: I will. I still can't believe it. I mean, think about it. All of this because ZoŽ browning stumbled across my blog. How did I get so lucky?
Abigail: I was, uh, just at the square, calling about jobs, and, um--
Ben: Oh, here. I went online today... Salem job search. Pulled up the new listings for you this morning.
Abigail: Thank you so much. I was just out of names. Everyone wants a reference.
Ben: I always had to get a job without a reference. You can make it happen.
Ben: Well, I'd walk into a bar, and I'd tell them to name any drink. And then I would make them the best version of that drink that they've ever had. I'd make sure that they knew they'd be making a huge mistake to ever let me go. You can do the same thing.
Abigail: Yeah, I'm not so sure.
Ben: I am.
Marlena: I'm glad you understand there is no point in seeing Kristen.
Brady: She's here, and she has to answer for what she did... to all of us. That's what matters. I will--I'll--I'll show up in court if they need me to, but that's it. I mean, she's--she's my past. She's--it's over. She's done.
Marlena: Yes, you just focus on the future.
Brady: On dad and whatever it takes to get him better.
Marlena: Yes, we're all hoping, but... you heard the doctors.
Brady: I heard the doctors, but they don't--they don't know him. They don't know dad the way you and I know him. I won't--I won't give up on him. He didn't give up on me.
Marlena: Of course. And if it keeps you away from Kristen, all the better.
Brady: Mm. Marlena, if I have my way with that woman, she'll rot in hell before she ever sees me again.
Yeah, her call's over. We're on our way down for booking.
Kristen: Why hasn't Brady come to see me? He must know I'm here. No, stop it. No, got to focus. I'm turning this around. [Sighs]
Rafe: [Chuckles] I didn't know that you were gonna be here, or I wouldn't have, um...
Jordan: It's okay. You wouldn't have known.
Rafe: Yeah. Well, I'm gonna go, so... all right, I'll see you.
Jordan: Rafe... wait.
Abigail: That--that's really good.
Ben: Like I said.
Abigail: Well, it's too bad I can't do the most amazing proofreading of a press release that anyone's ever seen.
Ben: Okay, well, then just make them a long island. Grab some of this. Cup of ice.
Ben: Stand right here. Grab a bottle. One of those...
Abigail: All right.
Ben: Maybe one of these. This is a good start.
Ben: Then we'll just open these up. Right over the top. Get this one going. Get it going. All right, hang on. That's enough. That's enough.
Ben: Anyway, grab a couple more. Grab a couple more.
Ben: One of these, one of these.
Abigail: Okay. I think I'm gonna need some practice at this.
Ben: The more--the more the better. Ah, you've got it. But we can practice all day. What did you, uh, come in here to tell me about?
Abigail: Oh, uh, right. Yeah, um, your, uh... your father--I-I just spoke to him just now.
Clyde: So... how was the run from poplar bluff?
Jeremiah: Easy as pie.
Clyde: You got the truck all rigged?
Jeremiah: Bigger than the one we use back home.
Clyde: That's a good thing. We're in the big city now. It's time to step it up.
Jeremiah: We need locals.
Clyde: Yeah, I'm gonna put a crew together. And I know who will lead me to just the right people.
Kate: So what's so important?
EJ: I'm concerned that you and Samantha have no idea of the tightrope that you are walking.
Kate: If you're trying to frighten me, you can save your breath.
EJ: I'm not trying to frighten you.
EJ: Believe it or not, I'm trying to help you.
Kate: Hmm. Believe it... not.
EJ: Kate, I thought that you at least would have understood the stakes here.
Kate: I know exactly where I am.
EJ: Do you?
EJ: Then you need to step up, because I don't think Samantha has any idea of what she has to lose.
Sami: It's very nice to meet you, and I'm thrilled that true vista wants to do a article. I'm a little surprised that your readers are interested in the corporate world.
Zoe: Oh, you would be surprised. Please, sit.
Sami: Of course. Well, I will say that, um, my first job at DiMera was running Countess Wilhelmina, and we did a lot of advertising in your magazine. We were thrilled with the results. Um, is that where you want to start--my working at countess Wilhelmina?
Zoe: Excuse me?
Sami: The interview. I mean, that's where I started with the company, so maybe that's a good place to start. It was definitely troubled, and I was brought in--
Zoe: I'm so sorry. This is not an interview.
Sami: Oh. Oh, I thought that the article was about me.
Zoe: Oh, it is. Uh, it's already been written, though.
