Episode #12398 ~ Kristen tries to avoid paying for her crimes; Sami decides to take legal action against EJ.
Provided By Suzanne
Sami: Yes, I appreciate how quickly we were able to get this done. You too. See you.
Johnny: Mommy! Mommy, me and Sydney and Allie have this great idea.
Sami: You do? Well, tell me what it is.
Johnny: Happyland has a new roller coaster. It goes 100 miles an hour.
Johnny: So can we go... today?
Sami: Today? Sweetheart, it's kind of getting late, but I guess if Gilda wants to take you.
Johnny: No, no, no. We had tons of fun last year when we went with you and daddy. Please?
Sonny: Will, this article about your mom and EJ-- I mean... wow.
Will: Is that a good wow or a bad wow?
Sonny: The writing is terrific, concise, clear, to the point. It's amazing... just like you.
Hope: EJ's accountants couldn't have been this arrogant, could they?
Aiden: Oh, yeah, I just needed to send a text. I have dinner reservations with, uh, Jennifer Horton.
Jennifer: I know, Abigail, but don't put too much pressure on yourself, okay?
Abigail: I know, but no one even asks me for an interview.
Jennifer: Well, sweetie, you just graduated in January, and it's not exactly a booming economy. So just keep plugging, okay?
Abigail: Yeah, I know. Thanks. I'll talk to you later.
Jennifer: Bye, sweetie. Maxine, what's wrong?
Maxine: Okay, I know I shouldn't speak to you about this, but I'm worried... about Daniel.
Daniel: See, here's the thing, Kristen. It may have looked like I picked the first truck we saw, but I didn't. There was a manifest on a clipboard at the loading dock. Now, I didn't lie. This truck--it's going to make a lot of stops. But when that door opens, you are going to see some very familiar turf.
Kristen: What the hell are you talking about?
Daniel: Well... our first stop is the Salem inn... or as I like to think of it, five doors down from the Salem police department.
Marlena: Oh, Eric.
Eric: Hey. I was heading over to the hospital when I saw you leaving.
Marlena: Yeah, uh, you're back from Rome. How did everything go?
Eric: The cardinal was very gracious, very understanding, and it turns out he believed me...
Marlena: Oh, honey.
Eric: And Nicole.
Marlena: That's wonderful. Oh, what good news. What good news. Now you can go back to being a priest.
Nicole: Guess who just got off a plane from Rome.
Brady: It's good to see you. Come on in. So how did it go? What did they have to say at the Vatican?
Nicole: Brady... it was a disaster.
Brady: So Kristen wins again.
Daniel: Yeah, we are going to roll into Salem any minute now. And my guess is there's going to be some people happy to see you.
Kristen: You know, on second thought... I take that back. Why don't you and I make a deal?
Will: Zoe. [Clears throat]
Sonny: What about her?
Will: She's going to be here any minute.
Sonny: Oh, right, right.
Will: I just-- I've never written anything like this that's made you feel this way before.
Sonny: Well, I'll admit that I do kind of like looking at you, but I'm really impressed with your mind.
Sonny: What now?
Will: I just-- I really hope that you meant what you said.
Sonny: Meant what?
Will: That you liked the article, sonny. I don't want you being supportive of me just because we're married now.
Sonny: Oh, you-- you're onto me. You got me. If we weren't married, I would have no respect for your talent.
Will: [Scoffs] I'm serious, sonny. What I write--is it okay?
EJ: Your mother's very busy. She has an international company to run.
Sami: And yet, I always find time for my children, don't I, you little wiggle worm? Yeah, I got you! I got you. [Laughs]
Marlena: Oh, Eric, I can't tell you how happy I am for you. You don't seem very happy.
Eric: Mom... the cardinal made it clear I could go back to being a priest.
Marlena: Are you thinking of not doing it?
Eric: I can't.
Eric: I don't have the vocation. The calling... it's not in my heart.
Marlena: Honey, why would you all of a sudden-- are you about to tell me that you're in love with Nicole?
Brady: The church obviously wants this thing to go away. I mean, to not believe Eric and to let that bitch get away with everything--
Nicole: No, Brady. The cardinal did believe us. He felt that there was enough proof that Eric was telling the truth. Eric was cleared. The cardinal gave him the right to be a priest again.
Brady: Then I don't understand, because you came in here, and you said, "Brady, it was a total disaster." What was-- what's wrong? Hey. What?
Nicole: Brady... it's all so wrong.
Maxine: I got calls from a Dr. Carter and a Dr. Blumenthal. Both said that Daniel didn't show up for conferences where he was supposed to deliver papers.
Jennifer: And he didn't try to contact them?
Maxine: One message each-- a text, saying Dr. Dan was under the weather.
Jennifer: That doesn't sound like Daniel.
Maxine: I called Chloe. She said he'd text Parker too-- something about seeing him later.
Jennifer: He texted Parker? No way.
Maxine: Now you're worried about him too, huh?
Daniel: Oh, boy. Here it comes, right? Big bargain. Wait, wait, wait. Hold on a second. No deal.
Kristen: You don't even know what I'm going to say. I promise you I'm not going to insult you by offering you money.
Daniel: Good choice.
Kristen: Look, I know you want me to be brought to justice. But what if it only make things worse?
Daniel: I'll take my chances.
Kristen: You know what's going to happen when I get arrested?
Kristen: I'm going to lawyer up, you know? And then... it's going to be Eric's word against mine, and all the charges will be dropped.
Daniel: Yeah, again, taking my chances.
Kristen: And what about Brady?
Kristen: He's going through a very, very tough time.
Daniel: Yeah, thanks to you.
Kristen: Whatever. The point is he's sliding back into drug and alcohol abuse. What's it going to do to him if he has to see me?
Daniel: No, I think you're more afraid of what he's going to do to you.
Kristen: What's he going to do to me? He's going to, what, scream at me and call me names? And then he's just going to sink deeper and deeper into the hole that he's been digging for himself because you insisted that I get arrested.
Daniel: Hold on. Whoa.
Kristen: Don't you think it'd be better for him if you--
Daniel: What? If I just what?
Kristen: If he doesn't see me at all.
Daniel: Okay, you know, why don't you just back up? Back up, 'cause aren't you the one who used me to get in touch with Brady? You want to make contact.
Kristen: Not like this. I did not want it like this. I promise you, I will back off. Honestly, I think it's better, for Brady's sake, if you just let me go. What you see is brilliant, luminous haircolor.
Daniel: Do you know how pathetic that sounds? You--you're really--I mean, you're slipping, Kristen, because you used to be able to convince anybody--
Kristen: I promise you I will back off. On my word, I will back off.
Daniel: The hell you will. You are on a mission to get back into Brady's life. You know, you do remember that you kidnapped me, right, so you could make contact with Brady. And what--you know, what was your plan? He was going to show up, and then you're just gonna, like, kidnap us both?
Kristen: Daniel, shut up! I just wanted to talk to him. That's all I wanted.
Daniel: Yeah? That's it? And the cubs are going to win the pennant? No. No, because here is what's really going to happen. I'm going to turn your ass over to the police, and I pray-- no, it is my mission that they do everything they can to make you pay for all the lives that you've wrecked.
Kristen: You completely disgust me. You don't give a damn, do you, if Eric gets his name cleared. You don't care if Brady OD's on drugs. All you want to be is the hero, don't you? So Jennifer comes running back into your wonderful arms.
Daniel: You know what? Shut up!
Kristen: 'Cause you're the hero. What the hell did you do to that sweet person to piss her off like that, Daniel? You know what? At the end of the day, you are no better than me, because you had love, you had everything going for you, and what did you do, Daniel? You blew it all to hell just like I did! Didn't you, Daniel?
Jennifer: If you're worried that something strange is going on with Daniel, I think that you should call Maggie, because like you said before, I don't belong in this.
Maxine: If you say so.
Jennifer: I do.
Maxine: All right, then. I'll call Maggie.
Jennifer: Maybe I should just call him.
[Cell phone rings]
Jennifer: Oh. Hello? Hope, hey. Are you back from new Orleans?
Hope: Yeah. Uh, this morning, actually. Right now I am buried under a pile of paperwork.
Jennifer: Oh. I know. It's great when you get back from vacation, huh? Listen, I'm glad you called, though. There's something going on, and, um, I want to talk to you about it, but not over the phone. Do you have a few minutes? Can I come by?
Hope: Of course. I'm always happy to see you. I'll be waiting for you.
Eric: No, mom, I'm not in love with Nicole.
Marlena: Well, of course, that's good. Um... now that you're not going back to the priesthood... what's next?
Eric: I think I'm leaving Salem.
Eric: Mom, I have an opportunity in Colorado. Maybe I'll go back to Africa and see what I can do there.
Marlena: No, Eric, Eric, your life is here.
Eric: I don't think it is.
Marlena: Why not?
Eric: Because I don't want to be seen as the priest who slept with Kristen DiMera. What do you think?
Marlena: I think that won't happen. I think people know who Kristen is, and I think that... they realize... she destroys every life she touches... john's, Brady's. I don't want her to destroy yours.
Nicole: No, he wants to be a priest. He said he lost his calling or something, so he's out.
Brady: That's not your fault.
Nicole: No... it is.
Brady: No, Nic-- look at me. You screwed up. You did... big-time. But you did everything you possibly could do to make it right.
Nicole: Yeah... not enough.
Brady: [Sighs] Sometimes you... you just can't.
Nicole: How's your dad doing?
Brady: [Sighs] My dad is in a, um... what they're calling a deep coma. He may never wake up.
Brady: [Sighs] You know, all that guy wanted to do was make things right... for--for--for me, for us, just to be a father and son. And now there's no chance of that.
Sonny: Seriously, this article... it reads like a best seller. I-I don't want to put it down.
Will: Wow. Thank you.
Sonny: You know, it must've been hard... all the details, the things that are personal and...
Will: Wait. Some-- something's not right here.
Sonny: Will, this is going to hurt your mom.
Will: Not as much as she hurt everybody else.
Sami: Well, it does seem like you have been thinking about this for quite some time, huh?
Johnny: Uh-huh. Remember this?
Johnny: See how everyone was screaming and yelling and you and daddy were kissing?
Sami: I remember.
Johnny: This time, maybe you guys will scream and yell like us.
Hope: Hi. You were kind of mysterious on the phone. What's going on?
Jennifer: Uh, Sami is out for blood again... and this time it's Abigail's.
Jennifer: I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this, but Abigail had an affair...
Hope: Oh, cuz.
Jennifer: With EJ.
Sami: Okay, okay, you win. I promise I will do everything I can so that we all ride that roller coaster, okay?
Johnny: Yay! You're the best!
Johnny: Allie! Sydney!
EJ: [Chuckles] My goodness, I haven't seen him that excited in... a long time. Look, Samantha, I know I still live here, but I think the children are picking up on some of the tension between--
Sami: How dare you use our children to try to get to me?
Will: My mom thinks that she was the only one hurt in all of this. That's not true. Every word that I wrote is true. I protected Abigail also. No one will know she was involved.
Sonny: I'm not so sure about that.
Will: I never mentioned her name. Well, okay, the people who know what happened--they'll know that it was her, but to everyone else, it'll just be "the young woman."
Sonny: I know you went out of your way to keep her anonymous, but--
Will: Okay, look, my editor will be here any minute now. She's bringing the contract. And when I sign that contract, I'm giving her this flash drive. That article is going to run next week... well, assuming she likes it.
Sonny: She's going to like it. But before you agree to anything--
[Knock at door]
Will: That's her.
Abigail: Hey, how's it going?
Eric: Mom, Kristen is in the past. She's gone forever. I'm not going to let her ruin my future.
Marlena: Good. Then why would you think about leaving?
Eric: When you asked me earlier if I was in love with Nicole, I had to ask myself that same question. When I went to Rome, I... I fought for the right to return to the priesthood, and when I was given that right, I refused it.
Marlena: 'Cause you lose your calling?
Eric: I did... because it made me realize something very important. I hate Nicole, mom.
Nicole: Brady, don't punish yourself. Your dad had been a super spy, super strong. He knew judo and all these different ways to fight. Theresa said it was self-defense.
Brady: I don't c-- you know, there's no-- there's no forgiveness for what I did.
Nicole: Yes, sure there is.
Brady: No, Nicole, you know, I've thought this for a long time, and here's what I've come up with. [Sighs] My father was just trying to save me from Kristen. I was dead wrong. I thought he did what he did because he hated Kristen. He did what he did because he loved me. That's why he did it. I mean... hell, Nicole, you and I are two of a kind. You can't make it up to Eric, and I can't make it up to my dad.
Nicole: Hey... let's go for a walk. It's--it's a beautiful day and--
Brady: No, listen, listen, I-- thank you. I'm going to go to the hospital and sit with my dad.
Nicole: I could come.
Brady: Thank you... but I'd prefer it was just-- just him and me, okay?
Nicole: Okay. [Sighs]
Hope: Okay, so she got Abigail fired.
Jennifer: Mm-hmm. And got only knows what's next.
Hope: Let me talk to Sami. It may not do any good, but I can at least try.
Jennifer: I just wish Bo were here, because she used to listen to him, you know? I'm sorry. I didn't--
Hope: No, don't. Don't be sorry. Besides, I'm concentrating on john right now.
Jennifer: Yeah, I looked in on him earlier, but things didn't seem very upbeat.
Hope: No, not at all. And I'm really worried about Brady. He's completely out of control. Cuz, he's off the wagon. He's hanging out with Theresa, doing God knows--
Jennifer: I know. Kristen did such a number on him.
Hope: I know she did. And now this. Could it get any worse?
Daniel: No, no, no. All right. All right, you want to know what really happened with Jennifer? I'm going to tell you. Jennifer told me some things. I didn't like them. There you go. Clear enough?
Kristen: You dumped her? Those must've been some pretty terrible things that she told you.
Daniel: Now, she thought I was the kind of guy who'd just look the other way, that I couldn't be trusted to do the right thing. Why? Because a woman was involved, and if Jen were here right now, she would say, "oh, no, you're not going to drag her to the cops," because a woman is involved. Oh, guess what. Guess what, crazy cakes. That's not going to happen, 'cause you--you are going to face all the people that you hurt, every one of them.
Kristen: Daniel, please don't do this to me. I beg of you. I will not contact Brady. I promise you. I promise you.
Daniel: No, no, no, no, no. No, no, my dear.
Daniel: It's going to be the opposite, because you're going to look at Brady in the condition he is in, and you'll be able to see what you have done to him. You, no one else! You!
Kristen: Don't, please, I can't do it. I can't! Please, don't do this to me. I'm begging you, please. [Crying] Please, don't do this to me.
Abigail: Sorry to just pop in, but I was close by, and I realized I haven't been a very good godmother to little Ari, so... is she awake?
Sonny: Yeah, she's awake.
Will: Wide awake. Uh, in fact, sonny was just about to take her out for a walk. I have a lot of work I need to do.
Sonny: Right. In fact, why doesn't Ari's godmother come with us?
Abigail: I would love that.
Sonny: All right. I'll go get her ready.
Will: [Clears throat]
Abigail: Is that something that you've written? Something new?
Will: Um... yeah.
Abigail: Oh. Well, can I take a peek?
EJ: Samantha, I swear I had nothing to do with Johnny--
Sami: Of course you didn't.
EJ: This is the first-- what is the Jackson Pollock doing here?
Sami: I want it here.
EJ: What-- well, it's supposed to be in the vault, Samantha. It needs to be protected from humidity and dust--
Sami: Well, I needed it to be out of the vault, because the dealer's coming to pick it up tomorrow. I've sold it.
EJ: What do you mean? You sold father's painting?
Sami: Yes. It's not doing DiMera enterprises any good in some musty, old cellar, so I worked with an excellent dealer, a lovely gentleman. I sold it for five--
EJ: $5 million? Samantha, I-- do you understand? This is worth three or four times that.
Sami: No, it's worth what I sold it for-- $500,000. It's too bad I don't know as much about art as some other women.
EJ: That painting is part of our children's inheritance.
Sami: Oh, I understand that. And while I believe that our children will be fine financially, I have every intention of investing that 500 grand very wisely. Now, if you excuse me, I have work to do.
EJ: What if we continue our conversation about the trip to the amusement park?
Sami: The one you dreamed up?
EJ: I did not dream it up. I did, however, see a reaction when Johnny showed you that photograph.
Sami: Yeah, well, it was a nice day for our family.
EJ: It was a nice day. You remember we all took a ride on that carousel, and you--
Sami: Yes, but that was before you took a ride on Abby Deveraux, so... like I said, I'm working.
EJ: You know something? I overheard a conversation you had earlier with Kate. You were this close to giving me a second chance. I can only imagine what kind of garbage she was spouting to get you to revert back to your irrational place... where I can never be forgiven and never be trusted again, regardless of how much I love you. We have faced worse crisis than this. You know we love one another. All you have to do is say yes.
Hope: Thanks. So, cuz, I'm not sure I can get through to Sami, but I'm certainly going to try, like I said.
Jennifer: Okay, thanks. It's not a very fun time.
Hope: You have that lawsuit, to boot.
Jennifer: Yes, and we didn't get the summary judgment.
Hope: Oh, no.
Hope: But Aiden is very optimistic that we can win at trial.
Hope: You like Aiden, huh?
Jennifer: Yeah, he's great. I mean, he swooped in and saved JJ, and he is so on top of things with this lawsuit.
Hope: And you're going out with him tonight.
Marlena: Honey, becoming this enraged does not change a situation--
Eric: I will never forgive Nicole, never! I never want to see her again.
Marlena: Is that why you're leaving town?
Eric: Mom, how can I stay when I have all that hatred eating me alive?
Marlena: Okay. I'm sorry to ask you this.
Marlena: But are you sure that hate is the only thing you're feeling?
Daniel: Oh, go ahead. Bawl your eyes out. I could care less. I am not changing my mind, ever.
Daniel: Oh, look at that. Looks like we're here-- good old Salem. And you're going to finally face your fate.
Kristen: [Screaming] (Announcer) are you dealing with hot flashes during menopause?
Will: Well, I-I really shouldn't let you take a look at this until I, um... [Clears throat] Pump out another draft.
Abigail: Oh. Oh, yeah, I totally understand. I'm like that, too, about my writing, even if it was just, you know, P.R. Stuff at the hospital, which is over and done with now.
Will: How's the job hunting going?
Abigail: [Sighs] Not even a bite. Everybody wants a reference, which I'll never get, of course.
Will: 'Cause of my mom. Oh, couldn't--couldn't aunt Kayla write you a letter?
Abigail: Yeah, she could, and so could my mom, but somehow showing up with a letter from your aunt and my mom just--
Will: I hear you. I hear you.
Abigail: Plus, then everyone's going to want to know why I left the hospital.
Will: Abigail, this sucks.
Will: Look, everything that happened to you, everything my mom did, I'm--
Sonny: Here we are... all set.
Abigail: Hey, should we go to the park?
Sonny: Yeah, yeah. She loves the park.
Zoe: Oh. Hi. I'm--I'm so sorry. I'm looking for will Horton, the writer.
Sami: You're never going to give up, are you?
EJ: No. I will deliver a new speech every day if I have to, imploring you to let things go back to the way they were.
Sami: [Scoffs] Okay. I got it.
EJ: Samantha... where are you going? Samantha? Where--where are you going?
Sami: I should never have let you live here in the first place. It's a mistake I'm going to rectify right now.
EJ: What? Wait a second.
Sami: When I get back, I will have a police officer with me to execute that restraining order.
Brady: Hey, Maxine.
Maxine: Hi, Brady. I wish you'd called. Your father's down getting another MRI. It'll be at least another hour before he's back.
Brady: [Sighs] It's okay. It's okay. I-I'm going to wait--
Maxine: Hey, you, come here and listen to me. You can't get sick. Your father needs you strong. Go home. Sleep.
Nicole: Marlena, I... I wanted you to know I-I heard about john, and I'm very sorry.
Marlena: Thank you. Nicole, we're having a private conversation.
Nicole: And I'm not welcome. I got it. Eric, I still hope--
Eric: Nicole, there's nothing left for us to say.
Nicole: Okay, then I'll leave. Hey, hey, hey! That's my purse! Eric! Eric! Wait! Oh, God.
Jennifer: Yes, we're going to go see the new play at the imperial. It should be really fun. But we made a promise-- no talking about the lawsuit.
Hope: Yeah, that is such a great rule--no shop talk.
Jennifer: Yeah, I agree. I just hope he, uh, doesn't bring up Daniel either.
Hope: So, um... have you and Daniel just really given up?
Jennifer: Um, well, I me-- I mean, it's over, and I really don't want to talk about it, so...
Hope: So you're a free agent.
Hope: You're a free agent.
Jennifer: Wait. What? Am I missing something here? Is--is there some reason that I shouldn't be spending time with Aiden?
[Both screaming and grunting]
Kristen: No, no, no! No!
Daniel: What is wrong with you? What is wrong with you? You try to slit my throat?
Kristen: Get the hell off me!
Daniel: No, I'm not getting off you, not after what you just did, so you think again. You know what I'm going to do? I'm actually going to tie you up, and I'm going to personally hand you over.
Nicole: Can I at least just say thank you? You chased after that guy, and you didn't have to. I just want you to know that I appreciate all-- never mind.
Excuse me, folks. I'm going to have to ask you guys to come down the station and give some statements. Okay.
Eric: This day just keeps getting better and better.
Marlena: It's okay. Let's just go to the station.
Abigail: See you later, writer.
Zoe: And aren't you just the sweetest little thing? I love those little shoes.
Sonny: Thank you.
Abigail: Bye. Wow. Obviously, you didn't want to jinx whatever writing job he had lined up, right?
Sonny: Yeah. Yeah, I don't want anything to go wrong.
Zoe: Such a beautiful little girl. I bet you have mountains of photos.
Will: I do. Would you like a drink?
Zoe: I'm fine. Thank you. Although... I do hope you have something else to offer me.
Will: Right here.
Zoe: And it is...
Will: The story you asked for--what really happened between EJ DiMera and Samantha Brady.
Sami: Hope, hope... thank God you're here. I need to talk to you.
Hope: I need to speak to you. Sami, I just heard what happened with Abigail, and I just--
Sami: Oh, Jennifer is going around spinning the story, are you? Good luck with that. I hope you don't expect me to apologize for making sure that your slutty daughter faces consequences.
Jennifer: You shut your filthy mouth.
Sami: Hope, I need your help. I have a restraining order against EJ. He can't come within 100 yards of me.
Abigail: I thought I'd taken that whole mess with EJ and locked it away for good, you know?
Sonny: I thought you and Ben were getting close.
Abigail: We were. We are. I don't know. Everything just kind of exploded.
Sonny: Yeah. I learned a long time ago not to assume things are always going to be fine.
Abigail: Maybe it's better that it's out in the open, though. Maybe?
Sonny: You lost your job, though.
Abigail: Things could always be worse. I mean, at least the only people who know I was a total idiot are just my friends and my family. I'll be fine. I'll be able to move on.
Will: What do you think?
Zoe: Well, it sure starts off with a bang. I can't wait to finish it. Uh... will, some of the things that you've written here--
Will: Every word in that article is true.
Zoe: Great. Well, you were obviously the right man for the job. And this is definitely cover material.
Zoe: Oh, absolutely. There is a huge appetite for all things DiMera. [Chuckles] Welcome to the feeding frenzy.
Sami: So the judge said that if he, um, violates the restraining order, he goes to jail?
Hope: Absolutely. I'll take care of this.
Sami: [Sighs] Thank you.
Hope: What's going on?
You guys just wait over there. Detective, I'm booking this guy.
Sami: What happened? Eric, hi!
Sami: Oh, I'm so happy to see you. How did it go at the Vatican? Are you a priest again?
Eric: Well, actually, it's a short story.
Sami: Okay, well, I have nothing but time, I want to--
EJ: Excuse me, Eric. I need a quick word with my wife.
Hope: I strongly suggest you step back, EJ.
EJ: You can't do this. The children need a solid family.
Sami: I don't know--this seems a lot closer than 100 yards. What do you think, hope?
Hope: I will handle this.
Sami: Don't touch me!
Hope: Ignore him.
Detective Brady, there's been an incident on a truck down by the Salem inn.
Hope: [Sighs] Thank you.
Sami: Just stop it.
Hope: Sami. What kind of incident? Oh, my God.
