Episode #12389 ~ Sami's latest stunt infuriates Abigail; Kate makes a proposal to Victor; Daniel realizes what Kristen is planning for Brady.
Provided By Suzanne
[Cell phone ringing]
Brady: Daniel, are you there? Hello? Daniel, are you there? Who is this?
Kate: Oh, that looks good. Buy me one.
Victor: You're lucky I don't throw it in your face.
Jennifer: Uh, Bridget, hey. Um, do you know where Dr. Brady is? She isn't answering my texts.
Bridget: I think she went over to her mother's pub.
Jennifer: Okay, I'll look for her there. Thank you.
Sami: Gee, I was really expecting to hear you say, "yeah. No, of course, Sami. I totally agree with you, Sami. I can't wait to fire the little home wrecker." But I understand that you've been swamped lately. So probably you haven't had a chance to catch up on the business section. I'm running DiMera enterprises now.
Kayla: So I've heard.
Sami: I don't have to show you the memo that I sent to corporate giving, do I? That I asked them to put a freeze on the $20 million donation to the hospital until I give the go-ahead.
Kayla: Look, Sami, the renovation on the children's wing is already under way, and you--
Sami: And I agree, it's needed. I mean, it's been too long already. But it's only possible due to the generosity of the DiMera enterprises' contribution. Do you really want to be the one responsible for that all going to hell in a handbasket? [Chuckles]
Kayla: My God, what has happened to you?
Sami: I'm really not interested in your guilt right now. So, please, let me just be clear that there is a choice to make here. It's either Abby gets fired or the hospital gets the donation. Choose.
Abigail: You want to talk to me, EJ? You know, uh, I've--I said all I had to say when I saw you in jail.
EJ: Look--look, Abigail, I do not wish to upset you. There is just something that I would like you to understand.
Abigail: Oh, you--you-- please, well, yes, then, of course, by all means. I-I've--I've learned to understand so much thanks to you.
EJ: Look, I-I think it's important that we are honest with ourselves and with other people about what happened. But--but this idea that... what we did was somehow reprehensible or horrible, I mean... what happened between the two of us was nothing like that.
Timothy: How are you doing, Eric? Still trying to figure out how to deal with the love you feel for Nicole?
Eric: Brother timothy, what I feel for Nicole is in no way love.
Nicole: Whoa. Oh!
Nicole: Hey. Hi, Maggie.
Nicole: Um... [Chuckles] I, uh--I just bought Brady some mocha walnut. It's his favorite. Mocha walnut? Great. One more time I'm not needed. But that's a good thing, right? Because the last thing you want is for me to end up on Brady's doorstep. I'm just another version of Theresa or Kristen. Took the words right out of your mouth, didn't I?
Brady: Hey, man, say something. Daniel? Uh, s-should I call you back? Are you there?
Daniel: [Muffled shouting]
Kristen: Do something!
Brady: That's weird...
Kristen: I didn't want to do that to you, Daniel. Do you see what happens when you don't cooperate?
Daniel: Ah, you--you have made a huge mistake.
Kayla: Sami, do something for me, please. Think. Abigail is my niece.
Sami: I am your niece too.
Kayla: But you are very upset. And who wouldn't be? But being vindictive is not the way to go about this. Being petty is--
Sami: Listen, aunt Kayla, you are treating this as though it's a debate. And it's not. It's a choice. Either the hospital gets the $20 million from DiMera enterprises, and Abby Deveraux never works there again... or Abby can continue to wander those hallowed halls, and I will find another worthy hospital to receive this donation and every future donation from DiMera enterprises. The truth is I could also just go to Anne Milbauer and have her handle this. I think she'd be thrilled, don't you?
Abigail: EJ, what we did was wrong.
EJ: Uh, look, um, morally indefensible? Agreed. Lack of judgment? Sure. But, Abigail, what happened between the two of us happened for a lot of reasons.
Abigail: Look, I get that I was half the problem, okay? I get it. But can we just--
EJ: We connected, you and I. We talked. We talked about art. We talked about your father's book. You know... Samantha and I had been going through this really rocky period. She kicked me out of her bed, and she was angry-- granted, not as angry as she is now, but...
Abigail: What are you trying to say here?
EJ: I'm trying to say, I look at you in the town square, and I see you--I see how sad you are, and I hate that. And I just wish that things had ended differently between the two of us.
Abigail: What are you saying? Are you... are you saying that you want us to be together again?
Brady: [Sighs] Should I call him back?
Daniel: [Breathing heavily]
Kristen: You can go.
Daniel: Brady is gonna start wondering about that dropped call. You couldn't help yourself, could you? You just had to answer it. Uh-oh. You see, now--now Brady's gonna be curious, and he's gonna want to talk to... [Chuckles] To me. And knowing him, he's not gonna quit.
[Cell phone ringing]
Daniel: [Gasps] Oops. [Laughing]
Kristen: It's Brady. He wants to make sure you're okay. Hmm. "Sorry. In a meeting. Picked up by mistake." "Was it urgent?"
[Cell phone ringing]
Kristen: So what do you think, Daniel? Was that still a big mistake?
[Cell phone ringing]
Kristen: Oh. "Just wanted to say thanks again, friend. I'll see you when you get back." That was almost too easy, don't you think? You guys are very good friends. I like that. I think it's gonna come in handy too.
Daniel: Screw you. You're not getting anything from me about Brady, nothing!
Kristen: [Sighs] Okay... well, I see I've got some work to do.
Eric: Brother timothy... after what Nicole has done, I can never feel love for her... ever again. Yes, I am confused. She denied me the chance to be who I am.
Timothy: And you played no part?
Eric: I made it... difficult for her to do the right thing.
Timothy: By telling her that you loved her and that you had for a long time.
Eric: She had no right to use that as an excuse, to lie to me, to betray me.
Timothy: And yet, knowing all that and being so angry about it, you still want her.
Eric: Yes! No. Brother timothy, I have worked so hard to make the case for my innocence, to redeem myself.
Timothy: And now you have to go to Rome to meet with cardinal Filippi, who will adjudicate your case.
Eric: With her. I have to be in the same room with her. I have to rely on her. It's the only chance that I have.
Timothy: Then take it.
Maggie: Oh, there he is-- just the man we were looking for.
Brady: Hey... you two. How--
Maggie: Okay, relax. Nicole and I--we were just both thinking of you, looking for a way to make you feel better, and we both had the same idea, that's all.
Nicole: Mocha walnut.
Brady: I love mocha walnut. Thank you.
Brady: No, I'm touched. Thank you.
Brady: I'll--I'll put these in the freezer.
Maggie: Incidentally, um... I called the hospital. There hasn't been a change in john's condition. Sorry.
Brady: I've been--I've been reaching out to some of, uh, my father's colleagues at basic black to see if there's anyone at--at titan that could... help him out while he's-- I'm--I'm gonna take these to the freezer, okay?
Brady: I got to make some calls too.
[Door opens, closes]
Nicole: Well, Brady's jaw hit the floor when we walked in together. Thanks for asking me. I know you didn't really want me here, but I-I think... Brady kind of appreciated it. Well, mission accomplished.
Maggie: Wait. I had another reason for wanting you here.
Kate: Okay, up with it. Come on! To me!
Victor: Humility was never your strong suit.
Kate: Mm-mm. No. But I do want to thank you for playing your part, even though you didn't know you were playing it.
Victor: You got me so riled up that I fired you, which gave Stefano the confidence to trust you.
Kate: Yes. And he gave me his proxies, and now I'm co-CEO.
Victor: You duplicitous bitch.
Kate: [Laughs] Come on. Stop pretending that you don't love it. You hate Stefano just as much as I do. That's why you didn't see what I was doing.
Victor: If you don't stop gloating, never mind pointing out the fact that I was blind to the whole situation...
Kate: Relax. I'm not gloating. Actually, I'm here to show you my gratitude. And I am going to be very, very grateful.
EJ: Uh, n-n-- Abigail, I'm sorry. Please don't misunderstand. I'm--I'm not suggesting any kind of return.
Abigail: Which will never happen.
EJ: What I'M... rather clumsily trying to say is that I hate to see you punishing yourself. We didn't set out to hurt anybody. It's not like we're two strangers, who just got together and suddenly decided to get it on.
Abigail: Wha--really? Is this supposed to be making me feel better?
EJ: Look, the point I'm trying to make is-- do not think less of yourself...
EJ: Because of this. You are an extraordinary woman. You're intelligent. You are confident. You are breathtakingly beautiful. And I know that you may not feel like this right now, but you have integrity. Don't forget that. This--this will pass.
Abigail: Well, I hope that you can get past this too. I hope that you can move on... with Sami, if that's what you want.
EJ: It is. It is. It's been very difficult. But I won't ever give up hope.
Abigail: I should go. EJ, I... thank you for what you said.
Sami: It's a yes-or-no proposition, aunt Kayla.
Kayla: At least don't make me fire Abigail. Let her resign on her own.
Sami: Fine... provided she writes a letter stating why, that she understands that she violated the hospital's code of conduct by having inappropriate relations with a member of the board.
Kayla: Sami, you really don't need to do--
Sami: And in acknowledging that guilt, she also acknowledges that she's disqualified from ever working at the hospital again. Clear?
Kayla: You have really turned into a DiMera, haven't you?
Sami: And I will also need a signed copy of that letter for my records.
Kayla: Is that it? Am I dismissed?
Sami: Think of it this way. You saved the hospital $20 million. You should be proud, aunt Kayla.
Kayla: You know, I'd appreciate it if you'd never call me that again. I'm ashamed that we're even related.
[Door opens, closes]
Jennifer: Hey, I was just coming to find you.
Kayla: Yeah, uh... I already know.
Jennifer: Sami told you.
Jennifer: I was hoping to find you before she did and...
Kayla: Well, I wish that was the the end of it. I have to go back now to the hospital and, uh, fire Abigail. Are you dealing with hot flashes during menopause?
Kate: Well... say something.
Victor: You've put a lot of work into this.
Kate: You have no idea. All you have to do is sign here, here, and here. Then wire the funds to DiMera enterprises' account, and the whole thing is official.
Victor: Stefano's going to go through the roof.
Kate: I know.
Victor: Yeah. Do you have a pen?
Jennifer: $20 million?
Kayla: Yep. And she means it. At least I got her to let Abigail resign.
Jennifer: Kayla, I am so sorry.
Kayla: No, you have nothing to be sorry about. Sami has gone completely crazy.
Jennifer: You know what? It's about time she's gets a dose of her own--
Kayla: No, no, no, no. Absolutely not, Jenn. You can't go in there and be all mama tiger. That is just gonna make things worse for Abigail. Look, I-I tried every argument in the book. Sami is never changing her mind.
Kayla: Okay. Look, I've got to get back to the hospital. You want to walk?
Jennifer: No, I have a meeting at, uh, sonny's club. I'll just power walk it over there.
Kayla: All right.
Kayla: We'll talk soon.
Jennifer: Mm-hmm. You monster.
Maggie: Nicole... after everything you put Daniel and Jennifer through and what you did to Eric, frankly, it's all I can do to not keep-- no, excuse me. That's not what I wanted to say.
Nicole: Well, go for it. Everyone else in this town has used me as a punching bag. Do it! Let me see it. Stomp, scream, flaunt that moral superiority till it's going out of style.
Maggie: Stop! Will you please stop? You're here for Brady. And right now that's my focus. He needs friends... [Sighs] Friends who are willing to go the extra mile, who really know what's at stake... like you. You're a friend. And that's why you're welcome.
Maggie: Nicole, just...
Nicole: [Sighs] What?
Maggie: Don't screw it up.
Nicole: [Scoffs] Like everything else in my life?
Timothy: Nicole has that much power over you?
Eric: I don't want to be near her.
Timothy: She'll have to be... right next to you... helping you explain your case to the cardinal, otherwise you have no chance of ever returning to the priesthood. The doctor that did some investigating...
Eric: Daniel Jonas.
Timothy: Yes. He can't help, or bishop white would have suggested he goes along with you as well. So, without Dr. Jonas and without Nicole, are you perhaps expecting Kristen DiMera to suddenly reappear?
Daniel: So what are you gonna do--text everyone I know?
Daniel: Well, all these colleagues you're supposed to meet at the medical conference, right? You got to tell them something.
Daniel: Now you're gonna come off like an idiot, because you don't know anything about medicine.
Kristen: Exactly. That's why I'm gonna keep them short and sweet. When it comes to Maggie, though, and all your friends in Salem... you know, I have to admit, it took a little while for me to get your "voice."
Daniel: [Scoffs] Yeah, well, you're never gonna get my voice.
Kristen: [Laughs] I already did. I am so lucky. You never delete anything, do you? I mean, all I had to do was look at your texts. And, hey, I'm nothing if I'm not a good imitator. Just gonna make sure I didn't forget anybody. Aw, that's cute. Little good-bye with Parker. He's so-- Jennifer! Oh, my God, what am I thinking? If you're gonna contact anybody, it's gonna be Jennifer. I'm so unbelievably stupid.
Daniel: Yeah, absolutely, 'cause Jennifer is expecting my call--not a text. In fact, we touch base every night.
Kristen: Well, I'm sorry, Daniel, sweetie. She's just gonna have to settle for a text, like everybody else, because you are busy, busy.
Daniel: Okay, could you just keep her out of this? Why--why are you gonna lie to Jennifer. Why? You guys were friends. Do you remember that?
Kristen: Shh. She's gonna worry if I don't reach out to her, right? She will. So we got to lead off with some kind of an endearment, like, um... I don't know. Got to keep her warm and willing... right? Right? [Sighs]
Kayla: Um... I just saw Sami.
Abigail: Awesome. I'm guessing she gave you an earful.
Kayla: Well, let's just say that she didn't leave anything to the imagination.
Abigail: I'm sorry. Sami hates me so much. If it helps at all, I'm totally embarrassed about what I did.
Kayla: Well, EJ is half to blame, minimum.
Abigail: Well, I can't change anything, so all I can do now is, uh, just move forward.
Kayla: Well, um, the thing is... Sami wants to hurt you. She didn't want to meet with me just to fill me in on the details.
Abigail: Oh, my God. What's she done now?
Sami: Well, if I'm the monster, Jennifer--the woman who found out that her husband was having an affair--what does that make the slut mistress who pretended to be her friend?
Jennifer: Exactly. EJ betrayed you. Concentrate on him, Sami.
Sami: Oh, I will. Don't worry. He's definitely going to get his. But why should I back off of your precious daughter, Jennifer--because she's such a saint, like her mommy? I mean, I guess she is like you. Don't think that I have forgotten that jack was barely cold in his grave before you jumped back into bed with Daniel Jonas.
Jennifer: Don't you dare!
Sami: Jennifer, obviously you're here because good news travels fast, and you found out that Abby will be losing her job at the hospital. Maybe you could help her look to the future-- find employment at one of those escort agencies, where they could actually make use of her interest in older men.
Jennifer: Nothing you say about my daughter will ever change the way I feel about her. I wonder if Marlena could say the same about you.
Kate: As of now, you're on notice--no more harassing the board members.
EJ: I see. So a DiMera calls a member of the DiMera enterprises board, trying to protect the company...
EJ: That's harassment, is it? Good luck in court.
Kate: Samantha and I are running the company for the next six months, Elvis.
EJ: 5 1/2 months.
Kate: We don't need your help or your interference. One more call.
EJ: [Sighs] Kate, running a international conglomerate is a little different from running a cosmetics company, as I'm sure you're finding out. Why did you get involved? I mean, I understand Samantha's reasoning. Anger is a great motivator. What am I talking about? You get up angry every day. But still, why all the work?
Kate: Butt out.
EJ: If you would excuse me, Kate, I would like a company to come back to, not a train wreck.
Kate: You and Stefano were the train wreck. We're just cleaning up the mess, thanks to what you did to Abigail and Stefano did to Rafe. Now, the two of you... you're just spectators.
Nicole: I know you, Brady. Right now you're beating yourself up day and night. You lost control because of what Kristen did. And then along came Theresa-- the booze, the coke. But you can change that. I know you can. I've seen you do it. You're on your way again, Brady.
Brady: That doesn't really help my dad, though, does it?
Nicole: Listen... maybe you were high... drunk... but I know in my heart that you are not responsible for what happened to john. Trust me. I know he is going to wake up, and when he does, he's gonna tell you what really happened.
Brady: Yeah, I'M... sure.
Nicole: You just--you need to concentrate on making things different, new, and good. The past can't change, you just need to leave it behind you.
Kristen: "Help. Need gift ideas for... abs and JJ."
Daniel: Kristen, Kristen.
Kristen: "Know what I'm bringing you."
Kristen: No, "know what I'm bringing my love."
Daniel: Okay, look, please, please leave Jennifer out of this, okay? Kristen.
Kristen: Uh, "be home soon. Miss me"...
Kristen: "And kiss me when I get there."
Daniel: Kristen, listen to me, listen to me. If you care about her at all, just don't do this. Please, don't do this, okay?
Kristen: You know what? I think it'd be very smart if I scroll through this and check out your last exchange, so I didn't miss something, right?
Daniel: Oh, hell, you know what? You know what? Send it, send it. I'm sick of begging. I'm sick--you know what? Send it! Go ahead! Send it! Kristen, why don't you just send it?
Kristen: You haven't texted-- shut up! You haven't texted Jennifer in weeks. "Waiting for a call tonight," huh? I don't think so.
Daniel: No, no, but the phone is acting up. She's expecting my call.
Kristen: Oh, my God. Uh-huh.
Daniel: She is.
Kristen: The two of you broke up, didn't you?
Daniel: No, no, no, no. No, no, no, she's expecting my call.
Kristen: Listen, stop lying to me, Daniel! Stop lying and shut your mouth! I know what you're doing. You want to alert her, right, so maybe she'll get worried and call the police? The two of you broke up. Why? You were happy.
Daniel: You know what? Forget it.
Kristen: No, I want to know. Please, tell me. I really do.
Daniel: Go to hell.
Kristen: You know what, Daniel? I think you need a major attitude adjustment. I do. I think your son and your daughter would really appreciate that. I mean, after all, it would be nice for them to be able to see their father again, don't you think?
Nicole: No, I got the tickets, the itinerary, the whole thing. Yes, I-I told the bishop that my passport is good. Right, I'll--I'll be there. [Sighs] You come here, of all places, and you ask for a little favor. But, God forbid, should I ask you for one minute of your time.
Eric: What do you want?
Nicole: You said you loved me. I don't know--maybe to treat me like a person. Well, I guess I shouldn't expect much of a thank-you. [Scoffs] Talk about cold.
Eric: Kristen DiMera will never come back to Salem. And believe me, that's a blessing.
Timothy: Even though her testimony could clear your name?
Eric: She's evil. If you had any idea what she's done to my brother's life or my mother's...
Timothy: And yours.
Eric: I have faith in God. He would never allow her to strike at me again.
Daniel: Look, if you know what is good for you, you will leave my children alone, alone!
Kristen: Oh, just get over yourself. Would you just get over yourself? I would never threaten Parker or Melanie. Maybe you. If you knew anything about me, I would never threaten a child. Children are life. They are perfect life.
Daniel: That's right.
Daniel: No, that's right. I-I actually remember... you wanted a child of your own...
Daniel: Which is strange. It's really strange.
Kristen: Why is that strange?
Daniel: You have such compassion... and love when it comes to children. And you could be so kind to Jennifer. And then you just turn around, and you hurt Eric without even stopping to think for a second--
Kristen: Oh, you know, enough with the priest! Enough! Today is about Brady.
Kayla: [Sighs] I really hate this. But like it or not, Sami is now on the hospital board, and she has decided to zero in on this. Here, take a look.
Abigail: "Moral standards and behavior." Uh, I-I don't get it. Why is Sami interested in...? Oh, my God. She wants me fired. It's the candy bar that's too hot for TV, I can't produce Dr. Chyka or Kristen. So I have to rely on Nicole. It's the very same thing that I've been praying for all night.
Timothy: For guidance, strength?
Eric: Yes. And some sort of release from this physical longing that I have for her. I wish God would show me a sign.
Timothy: God has heard your prayers, Eric. A sign will come.
Abigail: So that's it? I'm--I'm gone?
Kayla: I'm so sorry. But if you don't resign... Sami's gonna take this information to Anne Milbauer.
Abigail: And make my mother's life even harder than it already is. Fine. I'll write the letter right now. I'll just say that it was for personal reasons.
Kayla: I'm sorry, no. Actually... Sami--well, she wants certain things included in the letter.
Abigail: Like what?
Kayla: Like you are no longer qualified to work here and to never be allowed to work here again.
Kayla: You don't need to mention EJ's name, but you need to admit that--
Abigail: What I did? Do I have to write in blood too?
Kayla: Baby, I am so sorry.
Abigail: Oh, God.
Kayla: I am sorry.
Abigail: [Exhales deeply] Oh, it's fine. I'll turn in the letter first thing tomorrow. I have something else I need to take care of first.
Kayla: [Sighs] Oh, God.
[Cell phone ringing]
EJ: What do you want, Victor? I'm busy.
Victor: Really? I heard you were sitting around on your ass. But I can change all that.
EJ: If you are calling to gloat, I swear, I will--
Victor: Now, now, EJ, is that any way to talk to a potential ally?
EJ: Excuse me?
Victor: I'll be home in a few minutes. Be there. We shouldn't talk about this over the phone anyway.
Kristen: I've been out of touch. I don't know enough about Brady. And that is where you come in.
Daniel: Yeah? Think again.
Kristen: Well, I know you operated on john when he was brought into the hospital, right?
Daniel: I don't discuss patients.
Kristen: Okay, well, let's not. Why don't you tell me about that barnacle that's attached herself to Brady--Theresa? She worked at the hospital, right, under Jennifer? So you know her. Share. What are her strengths and weaknesses?
Daniel: Kristen, Kristen... in no way, at no time am I gonna help you work on some sick fantasy about getting back together with Brady.
Kristen: You honestly think I believe I'm just gonna waltz right back into Brady's life?
Daniel: No? No, not planning to give him one more sucker punch?
Kristen: Uh, no.
Kristen: I don't think I can show my face in Salem... which makes kind of sense, now, doesn't it? It makes sense that I waited for you to leave town so we could have this little chat.
Daniel: About Brady.
Kristen: Is it that weird? I mean, isn't it only natural that I'd want to know how he's doing? Maybe I can help him. I'm on the outside looking in, Daniel. And you're his friend. You know what's really happening with him. I do care about him... more than you know... more than anyone knows.
Victor: Still single malt?
EJ: You can skip the hospitality. Why am I here?
Victor: Well, I've been following your situation, EJ. Now, I could either revel in it, or I could sympathize. I prefer to do a deal.
EJ: A deal... between you and me?
Victor: Oh, I'm sorry. I was under the impression you wanted to get back in the game. No?
EJ: I'm not interested in anything you have to offer, Victor. Please don't call me again.
Victor: Can you really afford not to listen... not to hear what I have to say?
Jennifer: Hey, Abigail, it's mom. I, uh, just got home, just walked in the door. Where are you, baby?
Sami: Oh, I've got it, Harold. Why, Abby, hello. I'm sorry. Your lover boy's not here.
Abigail: Uh... I didn't come for EJ. I came for you.
Timothy: Eric... God will definitely give you a sign. But keep in mind... it may not be the one you're looking for.
Brady: Well, I'm sorry you won't be able to make it, Mr. Schmitt. Just please--please tell your colleagues at basic black that my father would want you to reach out to me at any time. You're welcome, sir. All right, bye-bye. [Sighs]
Kristen: I think I want a pretty simple wedding band.
Kristen: Yeah, but I want our bands to match. Won't that be cute?
Nicole: Brady, hi. [Chuckles]
Nicole: What's wrong?
Brady: N-nothing. I just, uh...
Brady: I had a memory.
Daniel: Aw... Kristen. Nice try.
Daniel: I don't think I'm tied up to this chair because you want me to fill you in on Brady. Now, somehow, you think you're gonna see him... face-to-face, is that right? And you want him here. And I'm the bait.
Kristen: Got me. You're right. I want to see Brady. I'm going to see Brady... face-to-face... 'cause you're gonna bring him to me. I know you are.
