Paige: Mom, which do you like best? Mom?
Paige: [Laughs] Which do you like best?
Paige: This one?
Eve: That one right there, obviously. Yes, that one.
Paige: [Laughs] Okay.
Eve: Well, that was easy.
Paige: I'm in a good mood.
Eve: 'Cause you're seeing JJ?
Eve: Well, before you go, there's something I want to tell you.
Paige: If this is about the lawsuit--
Eve: No, no, it's not. It's about Daniel Jonas.
JJ: Thank you, Daniel. Like, thank you so much, man. This is one of the coolest gifts anyone's ever given me.
Daniel: Well, I'm glad you like it, 'cause you're a pretty cool kid, man.
JJ: You know, if you--if you--if you're worried about running into mom, I told you, she's at some meeting with her lawyer, and she won't be back for a couple hours.
Daniel: Cool, all right. Uh, great, so how's it going?
JJ: It totally sucks. Mom and Paige's mom hate each other's guts, and I really have no clue what to do about it.
Aiden: I think I've come up with a way to deal with this lawsuit.
Aiden: Oh, I'm so sorry.
Aiden: I will tell you as soon as I--I was expecting this.
Jennifer: All right.
Nicole: Look, I know we had it out...
Jennifer: Kind of.
Nicole: But now that things have cooled down, I was hoping we could talk.
Jennifer: I am sorry, Nicole. I don't have time for this or you.
Nicole: Son of a bitch!
Eric: Your Excellency.
White: Is everything all right? You look upset.
Eric: When you requested to see me, I knew it had something to do with the case. Has something happened?
White: Yes. Things have taken an interesting turn.
Brady: You open your eyes, and I'll tell you you were right about everything. And then you can, you know, give me hell. And I'll just--I'll just sit here and grin because I'll be hearing your voice again. That's--that's an incentive. Come on, dad. Open your eyes, man. I can't lose you.
Maggie: Oh, my goodness. Your grandfather and I came back as soon as we heard about John.
Brady: Maggie, I did this to my own dad. He may never wake up, and it's my fault.
Maggie: Oh, no.
Brady: And it's my fault.
Theresa: God, come on, Anne. Pick up. [Sighs]
Theresa: Um, this is me, and it's serious, okay? Look, just call me back as soon as you get this message. Ditch that hr retreat and just get back here, okay? Just-- look, I need your help, okay? I-- I, um, I was just on my way out.
Victor: You're not going anywhere.
Theresa: Excuse me?
Victor: You crossed the wrong man, you little bitch. I know what you've done, and I'm not gonna let you get away with it.
Paige: Uh, why do you want to talk to me about Dr. Jonas?
Eve: You know he's Jennifer's ex, right?
Eve: Well, in all of our conversations that we've had about him, you never once mentioned that to me.
Paige: So? Why does it matter?
Eve: Well, because we're actually getting to know each other. First as a doctor/patient and now a bit more socially. You know, uh--but anyway, today, he was sitting there, and he was showing me some pictures of his son, and Jennifer walked in.
Paige: Oh, no.
Eve: Yeah, well, she completely misread the situation, sweetheart, and totally flew off the handle. And of course, if I had known that they had been an item in the past, I probably would have done things differently, but since, you know, I didn't know--
Paige: [Scoffs] You're blaming this on me?
Eve: Well, it's not my fault, sweetheart, so I--that's why-- you know, if--if Jennifer or JJ just happen to mention it tonight on--
Paige: Mom, what are you trying to do?
JJ: You know, I keep thinking that Paige and I can handle this thing between our moms. It's just that Paige's mom keeps adding more and more pressure.
Daniel: And the lawsuit is all about your dad, so it makes it worse.
JJ: Yeah, he's just not here to handle this, and mom, she's--
Daniel: She's very protective of his memory.
JJ: Yeah, and I'm not trying to choose sides, but it's hard. You know, how am I supposed to choose between my mom and my girlfriend?
Daniel: It's easy. You don't.
Jennifer: I am sorry. That sounded really harsh. I'm just dealing with a lot right now.
Nicole: I know you and Daniel broke up.
Jennifer: It's not about Daniel. I'm--I'm here because I'm meeting with a lawyer, and he had to take a call, but he's going to be right back, so if you'll just excuse me--
Nicole: You're meeting with a lawyer? What happened?
Jennifer: Well, I guess you're going to read about it in the paper tomorrow, so I might as well tell you. I am being sued by someone who is demanding a percentage of the profit from jack's book.
Nicole: Wow, I had no idea.
Jennifer: Yes, and it is this whole crazy mess. And that's not the only thing that's going on, so if you don't mind, I--
Nicole: Okay, I don't want to add to your problems. I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am about you and Daniel.
Jennifer: Are you? Are you really?
Maggie: Brady, you'd never purposely hurt your father. I know that.
Brady: Theresa said it was self-defense, Maggie, but I-- I'm not sure because I don't remember anything. You were right. You were so right all along. I'm so sorry. I've lost control of my life. And I've been wasted on drugs and alcohol for so long that I've been blacking out. And now that I've let everything get so out of hand... my father might die.
Maggie: Oh, come on.
Theresa: I, uh... I don't know what you're talking about, I--
Victor: Lying to me is not a smart move. You got my grandson so falling-down drunk, he had no idea you were tricking him into marriage. And I have no doubt that that's what caused the fight between John and Brady.
Theresa: Well, I'm very sorry, Mr. Kiriakis, but it seems that the jet lag has muddled your brain. So why don't you just take a little nap, and I'll go support my husband? Excuse me.
Victor: You stupid, venal, little tramp. You went after my grandson for what you could get, but now you're on my radar, and I won't rest until you're totally, totally destroyed.
Paige: Mom, remember what you told me six months ago, when your latest rotten relationship blew up? You said you were going to swear off men, like you always say, and now here you are, hitting on the first guy you meet in Salem.
Eve: Wait, wait, wait, I wasn't hitting on Dr. Jonas. We're friends. Well, at least we were.
Paige: [Sighs] Mom, you don't want to be friends with men. You're not wired that way. One guy leaves, and you fall all over the next guy who looks twice at you... [Sighs] Even if he's totally wrong for you.
Eve: You don't seem to have a very high opinion of me, do you?
Paige: I'm the one who has to listen every time it all falls apart. I'm the one who has to put up with you warning me about boys and how they only want one thing.
Eve: Sweetheart, I just want you to be careful. I just want you to wait until the right guy comes along. That's all.
Paige: What if I want the same thing for you?
Eve: I guess I, uh, should take my own advice, shouldn't I? I'm just not too good at being alone, sweetheart, you know?
Paige: I'm sorry if I came down on you.
Eve: No, you didn't. You go. You go have fun. Go on your date, all right? Go. Go, go, go, go, go.
Paige: Mom, I love you.
Eve: I love you so much. I love you.
Daniel: JJ, your mom knows she has your love and support, no matter what, and you know that you have hers. So you just need to concentrate on you and Paige. Right there, that's what your mom wants.
JJ: Yeah. You know, you're right. It's just, the thing is, Daniel, is that my mom is really trying not to drag me into this mess. It's just, I'm not sure Paige's mom is doing the same thing.
Daniel: Okay, I can't even begin to speculate on Eve Donovan's thought process, but from what I can tell, she really loves her daughter, and I hope she knows the best thing for Paige is just to-- to keep her out of this.
JJ: You know, I, um--I heard that, uh, you were spending time with Eve.
Daniel: Oh, yeah? You just happened to hear that, did you? No, no, no. She is no longer my patient, so I don't even have to see her.
JJ: Good. I'm--I'm glad.
JJ: But, um...
Daniel: But, um...
JJ: How are you and mom? Like--
Nicole: Of course I'm sorry about you and Daniel. I know the reason you broke up is because of something I did to Eric, and I just wanted to say that I truly regret that.
Jennifer: Well, maybe you mean it, and maybe you don't, but I don't have time to figure it out. I just need you to leave me alone right now.
Nicole: Fine. Okay. But there's nothing to figure out. I'm just trying to take responsibility for my actions, which is more than I can say about you.
Eric: Has the church come to a definite conclusion?
White: I wish that I could say yes.
Eric: But you can't.
White: You stated that most of the evidence that proves Kristen DiMera drugged you has been destroyed.
Eric: I know.
White: And what you were able to provide was heavily tampered with.
White: I'm 100% in your corner. I don't doubt your innocence in the least.
Eric: That means a lot to me.
White: But this case has already received considerable publicity, and whatever final decision the church makes will be heavily scrutinized in the press. So since there is no clear-cut answer, a rather drastic step must be taken.
Eve: Honey, I--I know that I've been a hypocrite also about lecturing you about boys. It's just that I love you so much, and I just don't want to see you get hurt the way that I've been hurt. So if I don't take my own advice, I hope that you will.
Paige: Do as I say, not as I do.
Eve: And I know you like JJ, and I can even see why. You just be careful right here. Right here with your heart. Don't you ever do anything that you do not want to do because you're afraid of losing him. Okay, sweetheart? Unless, of course, you want to end up like me.
Paige: [Sighs] I'll be careful. I promise, okay?
Daniel: Look, I will always care about your mom, and that's really all I'm gonna--I'm gonna say about that.
JJ: 'Cause it's none of my business?
Daniel: No, I care about you too and Abigail. But this really is between your mother and me.
JJ: I just--I just wish there was some way to fix it, you know? 'Cause just a few months ago, man, we were--we were happy, and everything just felt right. Hasn't been like that since my dad died. Every time I think about that time, it just makes me crazy. [Sighs]
Daniel: Look, JJ, I'm--I am so sorry.
JJ: No, it's just not you and mom. Abigail... [Whistles] She's in a mess, you know? And Paige is leaving for Stanford soon. I feel like everything is, you know, falling apart.
Daniel: And you feel like it's gonna stay that way forever, right? Yeah, no, no. Look, I've been there, man. I've been there. I get it. I get it. But the bad times, JJ, they don't--they don't last either. I think the key is to just-- you cherish the good moments right when they're happening.
JJ: Yeah, if you say so.
Yeah, I do. And don't worry about Paige going away. You enjoy the time that you have together right now. You make the most of it. The future--the future, man, it will work itself out.
Nicole: Look, I don't know the details of your latest breakup, but what I do know is Daniel is a good man, and he is loyal to a fault. So my gut tells me that you are the one that screwed everything up. Hard to deny, isn't it? Yet here you are, judging me, not giving me a minute of your time, when in reality, you messed up every bit as badly as I did.
Jennifer: Know what, Nicole? Don't undersell yourself, because I could never cause the same kind of pain and destruction that you have. As hard as I tried, I could never do it.
Nicole: Well, that's not exactly true because I saw Daniel today, and he looked pretty destroyed to me.
Jennifer: You know what, Nicole, you could just walk out of my life right now, please.
Aiden: Excuse me, ladies. Ladies, you may want to take this outside. People are staring.
Nicole: I was just leaving. You know, Jennifer, I think my first instinct was right. Maybe you're not good enough for Daniel.
White: I know that what I've told you may seem a bit extreme...
Eric: This is, uh, not the news I was expecting.
White: But if you do what you've been asked to do, there's a very good chance things will work out in your favor.
Eric: So you said. Before I agree to do anything, I'd like to discuss it with brother timothy.
White: You need guidance?
Eric: Yes, your Excellency, I do.
Maggie: Brady, have you been to a meeting?
Brady: More than one, Maggie. This has been quite a wake-up call for me. You know, I haven't even been tempted since this whole thing happened.
Maggie: Well, you hit bottom, and now you have a sincere desire to change. That's the first step. I'm so proud of you.
Brady: How can you say that to me? After the way I talked to you, how can you say that to me?
Maggie: That was the booze and the cocaine talking.
Brady: Maggie, I was so loaded, I don't even remember what I did to him. And now I get to live with it for the rest of my life.
Theresa: You know, I was the one who was by Brady's side, protecting him and taking care of him.
Victor: Oh, save your righteous indignation for Shane Donovan and the Bradys. If my grandson wasn't a rich man, you would have left him face down in the gutter.
Theresa: That is not true.
Victor: And as long as we're talking about money, you're not going to get a dime of his.
Brady: What's going on here? So, duke, what do you think of our new bush's baked beans video game?
JJ: You look great.
Paige: Thanks. So what movie do you want to see?
JJ: I was thinking that maybe we could stay in because Abigail just went out, and mom's at a meeting with, um...
Paige: Her lawyer?
JJ: I just--I don't want to get in--
Paige: Me neither. I'm so sick of talking about that lawsuit and our moms.
JJ: Yeah, me too.
Paige: I just want to have a good time.
JJ: So what do you want to do?
Paige: Mmm...staying here by ourselves--that sounded like a pretty good idea.
Theresa: Your grandpa was just, uh, welcoming me to the family.
Victor: How you holding up?
Brady: As well as can be expected. If you don't mind, I would like to talk to her alone, please.
Victor: Oh, we hardly had a chance to--
Maggie: That's fine. It's fine, Brady.
Brady: So what did he say? Did he threaten to destroy you?
Theresa: [Chuckles] I can handle him.
Brady: Yeah, you're probably one of the only people that can.
Theresa: So, um, what did you want to talk about?
Brady: I'm pretty sure you know.
Abe: Hey! Hi, I thought you two were in Europe.
Victor: We were.
Maggie: But then we heard about John.
Abe: Yeah, it's a terrible thing. Uh, look, have you seen Brady?
Maggie: He hasn't left the hospital since it happened.
Victor: What do you want to see him for?
Abe: Oh, I just have some questions, you know, about what went on last night.
Victor: What kind of questions?
Daniel: Hey, I didn't know you were back. Hey, Abe.
Maggie: How's John?
Daniel: Well, uh, no change.
Maggie: Oh, dear.
Daniel: Yeah. Uh, if you want to talk about it, I'm off duty and--
Victor: Actually, I want to hang out just in case Brady needs me. Would you mind driving Maggie home?
Daniel: No, no, not at all. Are you, uh--are you ready to go?
Maggie: Uh, I've seen John. I've talked to Brady. I guess there's nothing more for me to do. I'll see you at home.
Daniel: All right, come on, mom. All right, take it easy, Abe.
Maggie: Okay, bye, Abe.
Victor: Tell me you're not here to arrest my grandson.
White: Thank you for coming on such short notice.
Nicole: This is about Eric, right? I've already told you everything I know.
White: Yes, and you've been most helpful.
Nicole: Okay, have they made a decision? Does Eric get to be a priest again?
White: That hasn't been determined.
Nicole: And it doesn't make any difference that the so-called victim is Kristen DiMera, and she's dropped out of sight and on the run?
White: That can't be proven.
White: And neither can Eric's statements since most of the evidence to support it has either been destroyed or compromised.
Nicole: No disrespect, your Excellency, but what does the committee--who do they think they are? A forensics lab? Okay, I'm sorry. I just--I get a little hostile when something is my fault. You must think I'm an awful person.
White: It isn't for me to judge.
Nicole: Well, Eric sure has. He's made it pretty clear that he hates me and he's never gonna forgive me for what I did.
Paige: Were you playing before I got here?
JJ: Yeah, Daniel was here, and he gave me that guitar, so I was playing it for him.
Paige: So you two talked?
JJ: Yeah, I actually, uh, asked him about him and your mom.
JJ: Well, after she was hitting on him today, I just-- I wondered if she was hitting on him to get back at my mom, so--
Paige: My mom--she didn't know Daniel used to be your mom's boyfriend.
JJ: Like, you didn't tell her?
Paige: No, why would I? She saw him as a doctor and thought he was nice. [Sighs]
JJ: All right.
Paige: And, you know--when she, like--she's interested in a guy or whatever, she doesn't exactly play hard to get. But she wasn't trying to upset your mom.
JJ: Okay. All right.
Paige: You hungry?
JJ: You know, I was, but then you came here and--poof, nobody was home, and all of a sudden, I didn't give a damn about food.
Paige: Mm, me neither.
Aiden: Okay, so I filed a summary judgment with the court today.
Jennifer: All right, what is that?
Aiden: I'm asking to have the case dismissed.
Jennifer: Do you really think that could happen?
Aiden: Well, it could be decided as soon as next week, and with any luck, we won't have to go to trial.
Jennifer: That would be such a relief, because I just want this over with.
Aiden: I know, I know. Well, let's keep our fingers crossed, all right?
Jennifer: I just can't tell you how much I appreciate all the work that you have put into this, because I know it has taken up so much of your time.
Aiden: Well, it's good for me to be busy right now. Keeps me out of trouble.
Maggie: I shouldn't have let him get to me, Daniel. And I shouldn't have given up until I had gotten Brady into rehab.
Daniel: Well, you're the one who told me that AA says if someone doesn't want help, there is nothing you can do.
Maggie: Well, he's sober now, and he's going to meetings.
Daniel: Yeah, and with your support, I think he's got a shot.
Maggie: You put a lot of faith in me.
Daniel: Yes, I do. And knowing that you're going to take care of Brady makes me feel better about leaving town tomorrow.
Maggie: Where are you going?
Brady: I think we both know that we should be looking into an annulment.
Brady: Marriages that start with a groom being so plastered that he doesn't even remember the wedding--they usually don't end up turning out so well.
Theresa: Yeah, gosh. I-I mean, I was just so high, I barely remember it myself. Brady, I hope you know that I wasn't trying to trap you.
Brady: No, I don't think that. And you've been great. You really have, through this whole nightmare. I-I just think, for many reasons, that we should go our separate ways, Theresa.
Theresa: You mean we can't even hang out anymore, like, as friends?
Brady: I hope you understand.
Theresa: Uh, yeah. Yeah, I guess I do. I--yeah.
Brady: Hey, hey, hey, I don't-- it's not even gonna be the same dynamic, Theresa. I-I plan to stay sober.
Theresa: [Cries] Brady, look, I hope that you know that I really do care about you, and I'm just-- [Sighs] I am so sorry for what happened to your dad.
Brady: Me too.
Theresa: [Cries] You don't deserve to go to prison.
Brady: Well, that's-- that's up to the police department now, and if it comes down to it, I'm gonna take responsibility for it. That's something I haven't been doing a whole hell of a lot of lately.
Brady: I just pray that my dad wakes up and tells me what happened.
Theresa: Yeah. Yeah, I-I hope so too. Are you dealing with hot flashes during menopause?
Caroline: What did the bishop say? Is there any chance that you could become a priest again?
Eric: Mm, not yet.
Caroline: But there is a chance.
Eric: If I jump a major hurdle.
Caroline: Well, I've jumped a few hurdles in my life. Can I be of any help?
Eric: I wish, but unfortunately there's only one person who can help me now.
Nicole: You still haven't told me why I'm here.
White: I'm assuming you still want to do whatever you can to make things right for Eric.
Nicole: Course I do, but I already told you everything I know, and I'm assuming Eric gave you what was left of that crooked doctor's records. I swear I don't have anything else stashed away.
White: And I believe you.
Nicole: So there's nothing else I can do.
White: You could serve as a witness.
Nicole: I already did.
White: Well, this would be quite a different situation.
JJ: What? No one's gonna be here for a couple hours.
Eve: Don't you ever do anything that you do not want to do because you're afraid of losing him. Okay, sweetheart? Unless, of course, you want to end up like me.
Paige: [Sighs] JJ...
JJ: Mm, you are so beautiful.
Paige: JJ, stop. JJ, I said stop.
Daniel: Remember I told you about this medical conference I have in St. Louis?
Maggie: Yeah, right.
Daniel: All right, well, afterwards I was thinking, if it works out with Chloe, I might take Parker to, um, go see Melanie.
Maggie: Oh. Hmm, that's a lovely idea. So who will take care of John?
Daniel: Uh, John doesn't need a surgeon anymore. At least not now, so Kayla's taking over his case. Yeah.
Maggie: Oh, I see.
Daniel: Okay, if you want me to stick around for moral support, I can just cancel my plans, mom. I don't have to--
Maggie: No, I'm fine. It's just, you know-- it's just that everything you've gone through with Jennifer, I'm sure you could use some time away.
Daniel: Yeah, yeah. That situation seems to have, um, gotten worse.
Maggie: So what does that mean?
Daniel: Well, Jennifer has some legal problems on her hands right now, and I saw her this morning and hurt her without even meaning to, so I--
Maggie: I find that hard to believe.
Daniel: Oh, no, she saw me with Eve Donovan and misunderstood.
Daniel: No, no. Okay, look, don't worry--
Maggie: Oh, so you've met Eve.
Daniel: Yeah, don't worry. I got the vibes. I'm--I'm just walking away. I'm not--
Maggie: Ah, that's a good move, and that's all I'm gonna say.
Daniel: Okay, well, all I'm gonna say is, I think I'm gonna take some sort of sabbatical from women for a while, except for you and Melanie. I think that would be a wise decision on my part.
Maggie: Oh, sweetheart.
Daniel: Okay. I gotta-- all right, I got to go home and pack.
Daniel: All right.
Maggie: Have a good trip.
Daniel: I will. I love you.
Maggie: I love you too.
Jennifer: [Gasps] [Sighs]
Theresa: No, that's not gonna happen. I just have to get far away from Salem, so-- I could go to L.A.X. Los Angeles, I-- mom and dad, they--they wouldn't throw me to the wolves. I don't think--I-I hope not. Um... L.A.X.
Eve: What the hell? [Chuckles] Does your new hubby know that you're planning a trip to Los Angeles?
Abe: Come on, Victor. Knock it off. You know I can't discuss Brady's case with you.
Victor: You knock it off. You know you can't question him without an attorney present.
Brady: I don't need an attorney, Granddad. I already said that I was the one that put my dad in a coma.
Victor: Would you just shut up? Now, the sole witness said that it was--it was self-defense. There's no reason not to believe that.
Brady: Unless you're here because there's new information.
JJ: What's wrong?
Paige: I--I said I wanted you to stop, and you just didn't listen!
JJ: No, I-I'm sorry. Look, I-I didn't hear you, and I kind of--I'm sorry.
Paige: I'm not ready to go that far.
JJ: No, and that's totally fine. I'm a guy, and I get going and-- Paige, I'd never push you. Come on, Paige.
Paige: I know, I just--I just have to go.
Jennifer: Henderson said I could come in. Am I interrupting something? I'm sorry.
Daniel: No, no. Um, I was just on my way out.
Jennifer: I hope he didn't leave on my account.
Maggie: He didn't.
Jennifer: I really just came over to tell you that this whole lawsuit thing, it's gonna be in the newspaper tomorrow.
Maggie: Daniel didn't leave because of you. He's going home to pack.
Jennifer: Pack for what?
Maggie: He's got a medical conference, and then he's gonna do some traveling with Parker. Sounds like he might not be back for quite a while.
Eric: When I spoke to the bishop today, he said the committee decided to refer my case to a higher authority.
Caroline: What higher authority?
Nicole: The Vatican? That's where Eric has to go to plead his case?
White: It may seem a bit extreme to you, but it's the way to get this settled once and for all.
Caroline: Well, that's great. I mean, you can present your side in person to the men who have the power to end this travesty. Why aren't you more excited?
Eric: I'm sorry. I am excited, it's just, there's one other condition.
Caroline: What condition?
White: Yes. Eric will need you to testify on his behalf.
Nicole: But I--
White: If you truly want to make things right, you have to go with him.
Theresa: My marriage is over. Brady and I decided that it was a big mistake, and we just need a little space. So I thought I'd visit mom and dad.
Eve: Hmm. So you're just looking at one-way tickets, huh? You planning on leaving here for good?
Theresa: Look, maybe. I-I don't know. Just don't touch my stuff, Eve.
Eve: You know what, daddy told me if things didn't work out for you here, that you might be looking at jail time. So the thought that you're even thinking about going to L.A.-- it--it just tells me that something is really, really wrong here, so why don't you tell me about it?
Theresa: Could you just leave me alone?
Eve: Theresa! [Sighs] What have you done now?
Abe: There is no new information.
Victor: Then why the hell do you want to talk to Brady?
Brady: Granddad, stop.
Abe: For one thing, the final forensics report will be in tomorrow. Now, depending on what it says, you could be charged with attempted murder.
