Episode #12355 ~ Jennifer's admission wounds Daniel; Sami & Marlena learn Eric & Nicole's engagement is off; Rafe pushes Jordan away.

Provided By Suzanne

Tad: All right. Is there anything else I can get you?

Rafe: No, thanks.

Tad: I was--

EJ: Hey. Excuse me. Rafe, thank you for meeting me.

Rafe: What's going on?

EJ: I just wanted to keep you in the loop regarding Gabriela's case.

Rafe: What's this?

EJ: That's her plea deal.

Gabi: Thank you so much for coming. It means a lot.

Jordan: Of course. But, Gabi, why did you have Abe call me and not Rafe?

[Cell phone ringing]

JJ: Ignore it.

Paige: Mm, it's my mom's-- it's my mom's ring. [Sighs] [Clears throat] Mom? What? I can barely hear you. What did you say? Yeah, I'm home. Why? Where are you? You are too? Uh...

Sami: Mom, hey. Mom, come on. Wait up.

Nicole: I know what you want, and I won't do it. I won't take this ring off ever.

Eric: Even though it's not gonna mean anything anymore?

Nicole: Eric, please, just listen to me. You don't know the whole story.

[Door slams]

Marlena: What story?

Daniel: Either Nicole said what had to be said, or I would tell Eric myself. You do believe me, don't you?

Jennifer: What I believe is that you are a kind and caring and amazing man, and I love you with all my heart.

Daniel: But, see, you're not answering my question. Jenn?

Nicole: Well, we're trying to have a private conversation, and you're not part of it.

Sami: We are now.

Marlena: Weren't you meant to be gone by now?

Sami: Gone where?

Eric: Mom.

Nicole: Could you just leave us alone please?

Sami: Eric, what is going on?

Eric: Nicole and I were going to elope. But now we're not.

Jennifer: You know what, it has been a long, hard day. And everything that happened with Nicole and with Gabi, I just-- I want to be with you. And I just want to remind myself how lucky we both are.

Daniel: Yeah, I have never forgotten how lucky I am.

Jennifer: Great, so, you know, I don't think we need to talk about this right now, okay? Can't it wait?

Daniel: Honestly, Jenn, I don't think it can.

Paige: Mom, I-I thought you weren't coming home until-- we have a terrible connection. What? Oh, you'll be here this week.

[Both sigh]

Paige: Tonight? Just studying for finals. Only one to go. When I'm done? Nothing else going on. I'll probably just go to bed early.

Gabi: I didn't want Rafe to know that I asked you to come see me.

Jordan: Why not?

Gabi: Jordan, I don't know you very well, and I have no idea what you must think of me after... look, I just-- I don't want this to change the way that you feel about my brother.

Rafe: [Muttering] So what's the bottom line here?

EJ: If Gabi accepts the plea, the sentence would be 10 to 20 years. Rafe, the governor's and the mayor's office, they would like this case put to bed because of the very public way this has played out in the press. That's why they're being uncharacteristically generous.

Rafe: [Scoffs] Generous?

EJ: Rafe, this is murder one. It could be a capital crime.

Rafe: She was psychologically abused by that bastard. She has a one-year-old girl. I mean, you're talking about taking Ari away from her for at least ten years? And you don't think a jury is gonna be sympathetic?

EJ: Look, Rafe, if this goes to trial, Gabriela's confession for her role in Melanie's kidnapping would have to be admitted.

Rafe: Yeah, well, she was an unwitting accomplice.

EJ: Yeah, but she didn't step forward. And the district attorney is gonna say that if she had, then she would have been able to stop half of Salem being blown sky-high. When a jury hears that...

Rafe: Yeah. They'll crucify her.

EJ: I know you love your sister, and you're in a very tough spot, but you need to know, I worked very hard at this deal. It's the best deal we're gonna get.

Rafe: So what's--what's-- what's next then? When does the judge see this?

EJ: Tomorrow, assuming there are no objections from nick's family and that your sister signs the agreement.

Rafe: [Chuckles] Right. That's it. That's-- that's why you've been so cooperative and have kept me in the loop. This is where I come in, right?

Nicole: Okay, this is obviously private. Can you please, just for once--

Sami: You were going to elope with her?

Eric: Sami, mom, Nicole and I--

Sami: And you told mom about it, and you didn't tell your own twin sister?

Nicole: This isn't about you, Sami.

Sami: But now you've decided to cancel it. Why, Eric? I'm confused.

Nicole: That's a permanent state of being for you. You should learn to live with it.

Marlena: Eric? Are you all right?

Eric: I have a lot to figure out, that's all.

Marlena: If you're not eloping, is the wedding off altogether?

Daniel: Jenn, I love you. You know that, right?

Jennifer: Of course I know that.

Daniel: And out on smith island, when I thought I lost you, I couldn't bear to think of a life without you. So this isn't about trying to pin you down to have a conversation that's uncomfortable for you. This is about us, you and me, what we mean to each other.

Jennifer: Yeah, I understand that.

Daniel: And what came between us before is that I wasn't honest with you.

Jennifer: And you were protecting my son. I know that.

Daniel: Yeah. But you would never lie to me, even a white lie. If I asked you something, you would always tell me the truth. So I'm gonna ask you right now. If Nicole ignored me and she never came clean with Eric, you don't think I would be honest with him, let him know what was really happening?

JJ: You didn't mention your mom was out of town.

Paige: It's not really news. Her job has her on the road all the time.

JJ: Has she been gone awhile?

Paige: Actually, she hasn't been here yet. I came to Salem by myself. She sent me ahead of her to stay with my dad's cousin.

JJ: So this isn't even your place?

Paige: Mom thinks she wants to move here for good, but we'll see what she thinks when she gets here.

JJ: Well, that's nice of your cousin to let you crash here.

Paige: Yeah. You'd like her. She's older but gorgeous.

JJ: Are you trying to tell me that I met the wrong Larson first? [Chuckles]

Paige: Depends on what you're looking for.

JJ: Mm-hmm.

Paige: My mom, she worries about me, thinks my cousin's not the best influence.

JJ: Yeah? I can't imagine what she thinks of me. You kind of went out of your way to make her think that you were alone tonight.

Paige: Oh, she's just always worried that I'm not studying hard enough. And it's not like I could tell her what we were doing.

JJ: Paige, have you even told your mom about me?

Jordan: Gabi, I would never judge Rafe or you. I know that Nick has made your life hell.

Gabi: That doesn't justify what I did. I have to pay for what I did, and Rafe shouldn't have to. I know that this is killing him. You know, he's been the big brother everyone wished they had. Any time I had any problem, he'd swoop in and fix it, no matter what I did, and this is how I thank him.

Jordan: You know he would do anything for you.

Gabi: You know, after our sister died-- Arianna-- I just don't want him to be alone. But he's not. And I am so very grateful that my brother has someone like you in his life.

EJ: Look, I'm not asking you to twist Gabi's arm. If you don't think this is a good deal for her, then you tell her that. I know that you love your sister and that you really just want to do what's best for her. Obviously, sometimes it's hard to know exactly what that is.

Rafe: Well, I'm gonna support Gabi whatever she wants.

EJ: You're a good brother.

Rafe: EJ. I never thanked you.

EJ: Oh, it's not necessary.

Rafe: It is. This is a good deal. And it's probably better than anyone else could've gotten, so...

EJ: Look, just to be clear, Rafe, if your sister does decide to roll the dice and go to trial, though I do not think it is the way forward, I will continue to fight for her. No child should be deprived of the chance to be with her parent. That's something I believe very strongly.

Tad: Hey, Rafe. I was wondering if it'd be okay if I go visit your sister.

Rafe: Well, I'm sure she'd appreciate it.

Tad: I'm really sorry about this. All of it.

Rafe: Me too.

Eric: Please don't gloat. Don't smile.

Sami: I'm not. I wouldn't.

Eric: As you can imagine, this is not an easy time for me. I'll tell you what happened, I just-- I can't do it right now.

Marlena: Of course. We'll just go and...

Sami: You stay and talk.

Nicole: Eric... please... just listen to me.

Eric: Nicole, I am done listening.

Daniel: I need to know what you're thinking, because we need to put this behind us. You do--you do understand that?

Jennifer: I do. And... if I hadn't told Eric the truth, I honestly believe that he would have never found out. I'm sorry. That's why I felt like I had no choice but to tell him myself.

Paige: My mom knows we're dating. I'll get her on the phone and prove it to you if you don't believe me.

No, I-I believe you. You don't have to call her.

Paige: Maybe I haven't told her everything.

JJ: Like the drugs and the trial, that part?

Paige: JJ, I want her to meet you first, to see what I see. Then that won't matter.

JJ: Come on.

Paige: I mean it. She's gonna love you, because you're one in a million.

JJ: [Chuckles]

Gabi: [Sobbing] I need you please to promise me, Jordan, that you will look out for Rafe, that you will email me and let me know how he's doing. Please. [Crying]

Jordan: I will do my best, but you're assuming that I'm always gonna be around. I mean, this thing with Rafe, I don't know where it's going.

Gabi: I think you do know. You do know. Please promise me, Jordan. Promise me.

Jordan: I promise.

Gabi: Thank you.

Jordan: Okay. Okay. I promise that I will do everything I can to see that Rafe is happy, okay?

Gabi: I know he will be.

Marlena: I know why you're latching on to this with such glee.

Sami: Well, it's good news.

Marlena: No, your brother is hurting.

Sami: I understand that, mom, and, yes, I am worried about him, but don't you think--

Marlena: No, no, no, Sami. I'm worried about him. You're hoping that I will be distracted by Eric's troubles so I forget about what you did to Nick at the river. But I won't forget. How could I forget that?

Sami: Mom, wait a second. I don't think that--

Marlena: You know what? I have patients to see. Patients are people who have problems and know they have problems, so they're looking for help. And they understand that running away from your troubles never works.

Eric: Nicole, we're done.

Nicole: No, no, no, we are not done. The longer it takes for us to sit down and figure this out, the less chance we have of fixing it.

Eric: No, it doesn't need to be figured out. It can't be fixed.

Nicole: You won't even listen to me. If being a man of God is so important to you, then you must have some forgiveness in your heart somewhere.

Eric: You actually have the gall to throw God in my face?

Nicole: Well, look at everything he's thrown in mine. I have done everything he has wanted for so long. Do you have any idea how much I wanted to tell you the truth?

Eric: So it was God's fault that you shredded those documents and then lied to me for months.

Nicole: Yes. Yes, it is. Every time I wanted to tell you the truth, he had some other plan.

Eric: What? So now it was God's will that you remain silent.

Nicole: I was stunned. I didn't know what else to do.

Eric: Oh, my God. We've been through all of this--

Nicole: And every time your mom or your sister tried to demonize me, you defended me so passionately.

Eric: Because I didn't know what you had done.

Nicole: I couldn't tell you. And you kept insisting that nothing mattered more than our love, and I believed you.

Eric: Nicole, our love was based on a lie.

Nicole: Was it? Don't you see? If God didn't want us to be together, why did he make it so hard for me to tell you?

Eric: Seriously? Daniel, he forced your hand, so instead of telling me the truth, you said, "let's elope." And then, when you were desperate, when you ran out of options, you said Daniel was in love with you. Was that God's will too?

Nicole: Damn it, Eric. I forgave you. I forgave you when you accused me of something that I didn't do, something so awful and terrible, something no one's ever done to me before. I forgave you. [Crying] Why can't you forgive me?

Daniel: Jenn, how could you think something like that? Of course I would have told Eric.

Jennifer: But you didn't. You kept giving Nicole another chance and another chance.

Daniel: Yes, because I wanted her to be the one to tell Eric what she had done. You have to understand that.

Jennifer: Right, which is why you would have kept giving her just one more chance, Daniel.

Daniel: What? No, I wouldn't have. I gave her the opportunity for Eric's sake because he deserved that. Look, yes, Nicole has lied to me so many times, but I made it crystal clear that it wasn't happening anymore. No, I knew it, she knew it. That night at the hotel, that was it. She was out of chances.

Jennifer: Okay, but Nicole always seems to find a way, Daniel.

Daniel: So, what, you just think I'm that dumb? That I would let her keep manipulating me and Eric, and I wouldn't do anything to stop it?

No, that's crazy. You're not dumb.

Daniel: I'm not dumb. Well, that's comforting.

Jennifer: Please, Daniel--

Daniel: So then maybe you think that I don't have a moral compass. Is that why you don't trust me to do the right thing?

Jennifer: No, it is not you. It's Nicole. I know what she's capable of.

Daniel: No, but you know me! You know me.

Jennifer: Daniel, yes, but it's not like you haven't lied for her before.

Tad: Hi.

Gabi: T?

Tad: I hope it's okay that I came. Rafe said--

Gabi: Oh, it's more than okay. Thank you for being such a good friend.

Tad: Yeah, well, if I was such a good friend, maybe I would've seen what was going on and could've done something.

Gabi: Don't. You couldn't have.

Tad: I wish I knew what to say.

Gabi: Well, I'd like to talk about anything else.

Tad: Gotcha. Um...

Gabi: [Laughs] Even the weather isn't a safe topic, is it?

Tad: No.

Gabi: How's work?

Tad: Oh, you're gonna love this. Your calc professor came in this morning.

Gabi: Oh, bright side, I won't have to see him for a while.

Tad: Right.

Gabi: Okay.

Tad: Him and another professor were talking about how you got arrested and how they didn't know what type of "element" they had in their classroom, and...

Gabi: Terrific.

Tad: Well, here's the terrific part. He wouldn't just shut up. So I accidently on purpose kind of dumped a bottle of hot sauce in his soup, so... please don't tell sonny, 'cause I really do like my job.

[Both laugh]

Gabi: Oh, t, I love you sometimes.

Tad: Oh.

Gabi: [Laughs]

Jordan: Hey. How're you doing?

Rafe: EJ just came by to show me Gabi's plea deal.

Jordan: And?

Rafe: 10 to 20 years.

Jordan: Oh, Rafe.

Rafe: But EJ says it's a hell of a lot better than if she went to court. Sad to say, he's right, so...

Jordan: Well, Gabi is being really strong.

Rafe: How do you know?

Jordan: I just saw her.

Rafe: Well, that was nice.

Jordan: Actually, Gabi is the one who asked me to come. She's worried about you.

Rafe: [Scoffs] Me? With everything she's going through?

Jordan: Well, she knows what a rough year you had.

Rafe: Wasn't all so rough.

Jordan: Well, she feels like things are finally turning around for you, and...

Rafe: And what?

Jordan: Well, she didn't come out and say it, but... she knows how much you hated Nick, and I think she's afraid you're going to blame yourself for what happened.

Rafe: Is that what you think?

Jordan: No matter what happened, this wasn't your fault. You do know that, right?

Rafe: No. I don't.

EJ: Hey.

Sami: [Gasps] EJ.

EJ: You all right?

Sami: Yeah, yeah. I'm just thinking about my brother.

EJ: Oh, did something happen?

Sami: Yes, actually. It's amazing news. He broke up with Nicole.

EJ: [Laughs] Wow, that was fast. I wonder why.

Sami: I have no idea. I'm just very happy that the wedding is off. Unlike our wedding, no matter how many people said that we would never make it this far. Is something wrong?

EJ: Yeah, I confronted Kate earlier.

Sami: Why?

EJ: She was lying when she said she was out of town on business when this whole Gabi thing blew up.

Sami: I saw her earlier, and she didn't say anything about it. Where was she?

EJ: She was with my father.

Sami: With Stefano. That little witch. [Sighs]

Nicole: You accused me of raping you. And people have said some terrible things about me, and probably most of it was true, but this? This was vile and painful, and it killed me. It killed me to know that you thought that about me.

Eric: I know.

Nicole: And when you finally realized that I was innocent and you begged me to forgive you-- to tell you the truth, I didn't think I could. I didn't-- I didn't think I would. And I don't think anyone else would've blamed me. But you kept telling me that God loves me, and I wanted to be a good person, a person that you inspired me to be. So I found it in my heart to forgive you, and you want to know why? Not because I was hoping to get something in return, but because I knew you needed it... the same way I need it now. [Crying]

Daniel: Yeah. Yeah, Jenn, I lied for Nicole-- when I thought she was pregnant, when Rafe and I tried to protect her from EJ.

Jennifer: But that wasn't the only time.

Daniel: Yeah, you mean, when I let Eric think that she and I were involved, right?

Jennifer: Yeah. And I know that you were trying to help Eric. I know that your heart was in the right place, just like it is now. I know that you didn't want to tell Eric because you felt it was important for Nicole to be the one to do that.

Daniel: Yes.

Jennifer: Yes, but do you see the pattern?

Daniel: What pattern?

Jennifer: Daniel, you don't like to lie, but you will if it's for a good enough reason. Nicole is manipulating you, and that is a pattern too. I think she uses her desperation to get you to do something that you wouldn't ordinarily do. And I know that you want to believe that she's changed. God, I want to believe that too.

Daniel: Mm, but now you don't.

Jennifer: Clearly. And I know that you feel like if you give her just one more chance, she's gonna do the right thing, but she has shown you so many times that she's not gonna do it. And I don't think you realize the hold that she has on you. I just--

Daniel: Hold on. What--what are you saying? Do you really think I'm in love with Nicole?

Paige: I had a really great time with you tonight, but things went a little faster than I'm used to. I-I don't mean for that to sound--

JJ: No, no, no. You don't.

Paige: I just really want to take it slow. I hope you can understand.

JJ: Of course. Yeah.

Paige: And I-- I'm not sure I can trust myself.

JJ: [Laughs] All right.

Paige: [Laughs] I had a really great time with you tonight, JJ-- apart from you being beaten up.

JJ: There was that.

Paige: [Laughs]

JJ: [Laughs]

Paige: And if this is where it needs to end, I'm okay with that.

JJ: All right, me too. Come here.

Paige: There really is no one like you.

JJ: Lucky thing.

Paige: I'm the lucky one.

JJ: [Chuckles]

Jordan: How can you mean that? You did everything you could to help Gabi. How is this your fault?

Rafe: She warned me, "don't go after Nick," but I didn't listen. I goaded him into it.

Jordan: Into what? Do you really think there's anything you could have done to get him to back off?

Rafe: Well, I guess we'll never know.

Jordan: Nick had a way of provoking people. I mean, my brother hated him. He only met the guy twice.

Rafe: Why? What happened?

Jordan: Apparently, Nick was giving Abigail a hard time. Ben came across them, and...

Rafe: Oh, he wanted to help? Help her out?

Jordan: Exactly.

Rafe: Yeah.

Jordan: I don't know. I mean, maybe Nick treated people so badly because deep down he wanted someone to put him out of his misery.

Rafe: Maybe.

Jordan: I tell you what I do know. The last thing you need to do is sit around dwelling on something that you can't change. So come on. You're coming with me.

Sami: What is Kate up to? Please don't tell me she's getting back together with Stefano.

EJ: I don't know.

Sami: Well, we have to find out, don't we? I mean, I don't care how many rooms the mansion has, she's not living with us.

EJ: Mm, if she gets her way, you're not gonna have to worry about that.

Sami: What?

EJ: She was talking to my father about us.

Sami: What did she say?

EJ: She seems to be very unhappy with you for throwing her under the bus.

Sami: Well, I just did that before she got the chance to.

EJ: You know she has a tremendous amount of sway with my father. She's gonna try and turn him against this wedding.

Sami: No way in hell. She'll find herself underneath a triple-decker bus. I am going to kill her.

Nicole: Eric, I never wanted to hurt you. I just want to remind you of who you are and what you are and everything you've taught me this past year about kindness and charity and forgiveness. And I know-- I know I betrayed your trust, our love. But you did the same thing to me, and we got past it. And now we're in the same place, only the roles are reversed. So is it too much to ask to hear those three little words?

Eric: I forgive you.

Jennifer: No. Of course I don't think you're in love with Nicole. I--

Daniel: Okay, and I'm not an idiot. So that leaves us with only one conclusion. What could that be? Oh, I'm amoral.

Jennifer: Daniel, no, I--

Eric: One of my best friends had a huge loss. And not just a job, it was his vocation, and it didn't really have to happen. In fact, it's a travesty. But yet you think I'm gonna let him go believing a lie because I'm susceptible to Nicole's charms?

Jennifer: No, no, I didn't say that.

Daniel: You know what, you didn't have to say that. If I had a choice between telling Eric what really happened and protecting Nicole, you think I would have picked her?

Jennifer: That's what you did.

Daniel: Yes, I did. For, what, like, two days? I wasn't gonna let it go on forever. How many times do I have to tell you? I wanted Nicole to be the one to come clean.

Jennifer: Right. But she didn't.

Daniel: And then it would have been up to me. If you hadn't done it first, I would have done it. You really don't know that?

Jennifer: I guess we'll never know now. Get more free,

Time's up.

Gabi: Thank you for coming.

Tad: Yeah. I'll be back, wherever you are.

Gabi: I hope so.

Tad: Count on it.

Gabi: This year's been crazy.

Tad: Yeah.

Gabi: But I'll have time to, you know, think about things and how I should have done them differently. One of them is this sweet, funny, adorable guy right in front of me.

Tad: Adorable?

Gabi: Yeah. Things were gonna work out for us before Nick showed up. [Chuckles] I just wish I would've told you how I felt. [Clears throat]

Tad: Better--better go. Are you allowed to, um...

Gabi: Well, I can't get into more trouble than I already am.

[Both laugh]

Jordan: It's been such an awful day. Come home with me. Let me try and make things better.

Rafe: [Sighs] I can't.

Jordan: Oh, I didn't mean to upset you.

Rafe: No, no, no, no, no. Just--things are just too messed up right now, and... I wouldn't... I just think I need to-- I need to be alone right now.

Jordan: Yeah, okay. All right, I guess I'll see you tomorrow then.

Rafe: Yeah. Tomorrow.

Sami: EJ, what are you doing?

EJ: What were you thinking? You never say you're gonna kill somebody in public, not after what happened with Nick.

Sami: It was just a figure of speech. I mean, not really. I could kill her. Who does she think she is? You don't think it's really gonna work, I mean, right? It doesn't matter what Kate whispers in Stefano's ear. He's not gonna try to stop us from getting married.

EJ: Just--just do me a favor. Just forget about Kate please.

Sami: How can I? You just said she might--

EJ: Tell you what. You promise me that you will do that, I'll make you this promise. We don't need to worry about my father. Nothing is gonna stop this wedding. Okay? Nothing.

Nicole: You do? You--you forgive me?

Eric: I've been struggling with this-- knowing what I need to do, digging deep to be able.

Nicole: Oh, Eric.

Eric: I can forgive. It's what God demands of me. But forgetting? Forgetting what you did, ignoring what you taught me about you and who you are? That's entirely something different. I can forgive, but I will never forget.

Nicole: [Crying]

Jennifer: Daniel, I love you. This has nothing to do with how I feel about us.

Daniel: Yeah, I know you're being honest, and-- and that's important.

Jennifer: Yes, it's important to both of us.

Daniel: So now I'm gonna be honest. I thought you knew me so well... and now I'm not so sure you know me at all. And I--you know, I mean, I guess that means I don't really know you either.

Jennifer: Daniel, please.

Daniel: I--no. Shh. [Stammering] I got to go.

Jennifer: Daniel. Daniel, please, can you just-- please, can we just talk about-- Daniel, please.
