Episode #12322 ~ Nicole discovers startling information about Liam; Daniel faces a disciplinary hearing; Jennifer finds incriminating evidence in Daniel's apartment.
Provided By Suzanne
Nicole: I can't take it anymore. I have to tell you all about Liam Frasier.
Liam: And I had to tell someone how you lied to keep your boyfriend from being able to clear his name and stay a priest.
Eric: You little bitch!
Gabi: What's going on?
Nick: I think I found the perfect lawyer to handle your custody agreement.
Nick: Yeah. Guy's new in town. No Brady or Horton relations, which is rare in Salem. He's got a reputation for being tough as hell if he has to be.
Gabi: Why do you think he needs to be tough?
Nick: Well, that's always how you want a lawyer to be, right? If he's on your side, anyway. Look, I'm sure everything will be fine.
Gabi: No. No, you're not. Okay, just tell me what's going on. Just tell me, Nick. What do you think?
Nick: Look, I don't want to upset you, okay? But I've been thinking. Sonny owns a business, right? He and will are married now. So it's possible that on paper, the guys look more substantial than you do.
Ben: I haven't heard from you in a while. I just want to make sure everything's all right with my sister.
Jordan: Everything's fine. But I'm on my way to meet Rafe, so I can't really talk.
Ben: Can we meet up later?
Jordan: Maybe, okay? But I gotta go.
Rafe: There he is. Hey, Tim. How's life in the FBI? Ah. Well, good to hear. Listen, I need a little favor.
Anne: Exhibit "a" for Dr. Daniel Jonas, addict.
Anne: Today's a good day, Theresa, and yet, you are not smiling. You want to tell me why?
Daniel: I promise you-- yeah, I will-- as soon as I know anything. Yes. All right, I love you, too.
[Knock on door]
Daniel: Bye. [Sighs] Oh, my gosh.
Daniel: Hey. Uh, I thought we were meeting at my mom's and we were going to the hearing together.
Jennifer: Well, I came by to tell you I can't be there for you.
Liam: It wasn't easy tracking you down. But I'm glad I did. I'm glad you agreed to meet. So, let's talk about Dr. Daniel Jonas.
[Cell phone rings]
Eric: Nicole, hi.
Nicole: I need to talk to you as soon as possible. About Daniel, about a lot of things.
Daniel: So--what-- you can't come to my hearing?
Jennifer: No. Anne forced the board's hand. Left us no choice.
Jennifer: Kayla, Seth burns. They both had to recuse themselves.
Daniel: I guess I should've expected this.
Jennifer: You know, she even tried to get Brady off of this case, but he's on the board, thankfully. So she hit a wall with that one.
Daniel: So Brady will be there, the only one in my corner.
Jennifer: I'm so sorry.
Theresa: I heard you got Daniel's hearing moved to this morning. You work fast for your friends, huh?
Brady: He's being punished for something he didn't do.
Brady: I know you can relate to that. You know, you say you're innocent in all of this, but people are lining up to railroad you, you know that?
Theresa: But not you, right?
Brady: We're taking a break until I find out what happened to Daniel. We talked about this. You know that.
Theresa: Yeah, but I-- I just thought it was a done deal unless... is there any new evidence that proves whether or not Daniel took that drug?
Liam: You know what to do.
And the money we talked about?
Liam: Half now. The rest when the job is done.
Rafe: Well, Tim, I would, but it's not Salem P.D. Business. It's personal. Yeah, well, you got the profile I just emailed you on him, right? Yeah. Well, listen, anything you can red-flag on him would be helpful because I'm coming up with nothing, and I'm hoping the FBI system's a little bit more powerful than mine. Yeah, I know. I know. I owe you, what else is new? All right, Tim. Thanks a lot. Well, hey. You're already here. Hi. You okay? Did your brother do something to you again?
Jordan: Well, maybe you should tell me what you know about Ben.
Gabi: No. No, you're wrong. I look every bit as good on paper as will and Sonny. I have a modeling contract. I mean, I plan on finishing college. I can provide for my daughter, Nick.
Nick: Of course you can. I'm sorry. I-I shouldn't have brought that up. And it's not like you have any reason to believe that will wasn't being straight with you. It's just--
Nick: Look. Will's rights as a parent are gonna be protected. If you use this lawyer, yours will, too.
Gabi: She called me an unfit mother.
Gabi: Sami. I mean, didn't I tell you that?
Nick: Yeah, you told me that, but you just said she was ranting and raving, what--
Gabi: Yeah, well, she said that I was not fit to raise my own child. That's why when will got home, I threatened to leave and take Arianna with me.
Nick: But-- but you promised that you wouldn't do that, and in exchange, he said that he was gonna make sure that Sami wouldn't show up here anymore.
Gabi: Right. He brought back the key that that she had to the apartment and told me that she promised to stay away from me. And that's when he started talking about the custody agreement.
Nick: [Exhales] You don't think--
Gabi: Yeah, I do think. I mean, this is Sami that we're talking about.
Nick: She hates me so much.
Gabi: Nick, I just have this feeling that she's gonna pull something. I mean, she's gonna do everything in her power to take my baby away from me.
Brady: I'm not gonna discuss Daniel's hearing with you.
Theresa: Brady, I just need to know if--
Brady: What you need to do right now is stay out of this. If you're telling the truth, you'll be fine. And when this is over, we will talk. Okay?
Anne: Daniel Jonas is sunk. I'm telling you.
Theresa: My name's not gonna come up in that hearing, is it?
Anne: Why would it?
Theresa: Well, exactly. I mean, this whole thing is just insane, Anne. Like--I mean, I don't even-- I wasn't even around when Daniel was drugged.
Anne: I get it. Honey, that's our story and we're sticking to it.
Theresa: It's not a story, Anne. God, I don't even have access to his stuff. I'm--how could I have drugged him? Why are you looking at me like that?
Anne: Well, because the whole "I don't have access to his stuff" part--you know, it has a bit of a hollow ring to it.
Theresa: What's that supposed to mean?
Anne: Well, since you can easily access his apartment, where I assume most of his "stuff" is. I mean, you do still have the key to his apartment, right?
Eric: Daniel is innocent. He'll be cleared.
Nicole: Oh, 'cause that happens all the time, right?
Eric: Listen, there is nothing we can do except be there for him.
Nicole: I have to do more. I can't just sit around while Daniel's career is being destroyed, especially when there's something I can do to help.
Eric: Wait, you mean-- Nicole, did you find something? Do you know more about what happened to Daniel?
Jennifer: Let me say good-bye to you.
Parker: Bye, Jennifer!
Jennifer: No, not yet. Because listen. You're gonna get to see your grandma today and your mom, and you're gonna have so much fun.
Parker: Bye, Jennifer.
Daniel: Oh, yeah. Let's get her out. It's man-time.
Parker: Bye. Bye, Jennifer.
Daniel: Yes, it's man-time. You just sit back, son.
Daniel: You sit back there.
Parker: Bye, Jen--
Daniel: Hold the phone. I got something to say. Close your eyes.
Jennifer: I love you.
Daniel: I love you.
Daniel: Bye. Yeah. And you, mister. Yeah, guess what. Let me see. Oh! You don't have any shoes on.
Daniel: You don't have any shoes on. So why don't you run in there, get your hops on, and I will help you put them on. What do you think? Yeah? 'Cause you have a big day. Mwah. We both do, buddy.
Daniel: All right. You go on there.
[Cell phone rings]
Is this Jennifer Horton?
Jennifer: It is.
I need to talk to you, right away. It's about Daniel Jonas.
Nick: Gabi, Gabi, don't-- don't panic.
Gabi: Okay, you just said that Sami hates you, all right? If she thinks that you and I are getting back together--
Nick: You know what, then maybe the best thing would be for me to leave. You know, and take one of those job offers that I got from new York and just get as far away from you and Arianna as--as possible.
Rafe: Hmm, I'm not following you.
Jordan: I heard your call, Rafe. So I won't talk to you about my brother, so now you're taking your questions to the FBI?
Rafe: The call--no, that was not about your brother. That was--that was police business.
Jordan: Okay, you know, it's bad enough for you to do something like this behind my back, but I'm not gonna stand here and let you lie to my face.
Rafe: Jordan, Jordan, would you listen. Listen. It was not about your brother. It's about my sister.
Gabi: I'm not gonna let other people control my life and tell me what to do, okay? You're not gonna leave this town because of this. This lawyer that you got-- he's good? Are you sure?
Nick: Yeah. I'm sure. He worked really hard for JJ Deveraux, and I did a bunch of research on all of his other cases. The guy has a stellar reputation.
Gabi: Okay, well, then I'm happy you found him. And very grateful.
Nick: Well, with Sami on the war path-- but you know what, I really think that this is all-- this is all Sami talking. I don't think will would ever do anything like that to hurt you.
Gabi: I can't believe it.
Gabi: I mean, after everything that's happened, you're still so forgiving.
Nick: Well, I mean, I don't know. What's the point of holding onto to anger? It doesn't help anybody, right?
Gabi: No, it doesn't. But I do hope that you're at least angry enough.
Gabi: Meaning that if she tries something with Ari or if she tries to keep you away from me, then you can stop her.
Theresa: No-- I forgot all about having the key to Daniel's apartment. I don't even know where it is. It's probably lost. Look, no one else knows about that, right? Anne!
Anne: What key? I don't know anything about a key. Daniel Jonas--he got high all on his own as far as I'm concerned. And I'm gonna see to it that his dirty little habit costs him his job, okay?
Nicole: No, I don't know anything for sure about Daniel's case. I have my suspicions. That's all.
Eric: You mean Theresa. I know my cousin has it in for them both. I'm just praying that she wouldn't go this far.
Nicole: But what if it wasn't Theresa? What if it was someone else? I can't let Daniel get hurt like this. I need-- I need to finally get this out.
Eric: You don't have to. I know what you're gonna say.
Well, thank you for agreeing to meet me at your home. Um, I have information about Dr. Jonas. I thought it'd be better not to tell you about it in public.
Jennifer: Who are you afraid of? Anne Milbauer or Theresa Donovan?
I'd rather not say. I don't want to get anyone in trouble. I just want to do the right thing. I'm Sinora and this is my son, Chris.
Jordan: This isn't about Ben?
Rafe: No. No. Now sit down. It's about my sister and Nick. And he hurt her once, and I'm not gonna let that happen again.
Jordan: Well, does Gabi seem upset or scared?
Rafe: No, not at all. Which is the thing that worries me the most. She should be terrified of that guy, but instead--instead, he's working his way back into her life.
[Cell phone rings]
Rafe: Sorry. Hmm. I gotta take this.
Jordan: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Rafe: Tim. Thanks for getting back to me so fast. What do you got? No record? Nothing? Yeah, I get it. Okay, let me know if you hear anything else. Yeah, thanks. I, uh... I need to postpone our date. That was not the news that I was expecting.
Jordan: Oh, no. That's fine. You go do what you need to do.
Jordan: I'm sorry I jumped on you before.
Rafe: No, no, no. You're protective of your brother. I get it. I'll see you.
Jordan: Go easy on Gabi.
Rafe: On Gabi? Yeah.
Nick: I can stop Sami?
Gabi: Look, it probably won't come to that, but if it did, I know you'd have my back.
Nick: Okay. You're talking about me being the forgiving one-- you're amazing. I'm so grateful that you let me back into your life, Gabi.
[Cell phone vibrates]
Gabi: Oh, sorry.
Nick: Is something wrong?
Gabi: My brother. He's on his way over here.
Nick: I'll go.
Gabi: No, you don't have to go.
Nick: You know what, Rafe gave me a second chance. I don't want to make him feel like I'm rubbing his nose in it by being here when he shows up.
Gabi: Thank you for getting me the lawyer, and maybe we can meet with him soon?
Nick: You want me to be there?
Gabi: Right now, Nick, you're the only person I can trust.
Nicole: You know?
Eric: I know where this is going. And you need to stop.
Nicole: Okay, but the-- look, you just don't understand. I tried to--
Eric: No, I know what you want. You want to act, you want to do something, anything you can to help a friend. Which is one more reason why I love you. But you can't do this for Daniel or I wouldn't want you to get yourself hurt. So Nicole, there's got to be another way that you can help him out.
Nicole: You're right.
Brady: You ready?
Anne: I am.
Daniel: I'm ready to clear my name and find out who really did this to me.
Anne: [Scoffs] All right.
Liam: What's that?
Theresa: The key to Dr. Dan's apartment. No, I can't talk to Liam. There has to be someone who can tell me where I stand in this whole thing. Oh, God. Okay.
Eric: Can you promise me that you won't do anything that could possibly risk our future together?
Nicole: I won't--promise.
Eric: [Laughs] It's selfish, but I have my heart set on spending the rest of my life with you.
[Cell phone rings]
Eric: Looks like somebody else's guilty conscience got to them. Let me handle this. Knowing how much you sacrificed for Daniel, it shows me how lucky I am... to have such an amazing woman in my life.
Brady: This meeting will give the representatives of the board of trustees the opportunity to review the current suspension of Dr. Daniel Jonas. At which time, a determination will be made on his present and future employment at this hospital.
I work for a cleaning service. There's your proof. I've been assigned to Dr. Jonas's apartment a few times.
Jennifer: Yeah, I can see that. And I can also see where you filled in where his regular cleaning person was sick. But what does that have to do with Daniel's case in the hospital?
Look, I don't know the man. In fact, I never even met him. I was let out and into his place by the super. It was just a job, that's all. But...
Jennifer: But what?
I saw something.
Jennifer: What did you see?
Nicole: [Sighs] There's got to be a way to get Dr. Chyka's email away from Liam. And then I can tell Daniel and Eric that that rat was sniffing around Daniel's door. But how? Hmm. Get his address, first off. That's how.
Jennifer: Can you please just tell me what this is about?
I clean houses for a living, ms. Horton. I see things, but I keep my mouth shut. Not my business, not my stuff. I also clean in places where other people let dust collect, so sometimes I see even more. And when I heard what happened at the hospital with Dr. Jonas, that he was on drugs during a surgery, I couldn't keep quiet.
Jennifer: What? Keep quiet about what?
What I found that day. It's probably still there. And if you're interested, I can tell you exactly where to look.
Eric: Okay, I'm here. What's going on?
Theresa: Daniel's hearing's going on, and your brother's running it, and so I know that that means you're in the loop. And I-I get that you're all rah-rah about Jennifer and the rest of team Daniel. But you're also my blood, and you told me that you cared about me.
Eric: I do, Theresa.
Theresa: Well, if you do, then I need you to help me right now.
Sonny: What can I get you, Nick?
Nick: Ginger ale. Just saw Gabi. She told me will wants to do a custody agreement.
Sonny: Of course she did.
Nick: I think it's a great idea. I'm sure that the three of you will work something out.
Sonny: Thank you so much for your confidence. You're, like, the most amazing friend, to all of us. So upfront and you're so forgiving. Seriously, Gabi might be buying this act of yours, but do you think I am? Or will? Or anyone on planet earth?
Jordan: Hey, you wanted to see me? I'm really busy with work.
Ben: And Rafe?
Ben: Why not? You two having trouble?
Jordan: You know what, it's none of your business. And Rafe, just like me, just like you, and everybody else, has his own problems to deal with.
Ben: That's good for us, right? I mean, maybe now he'll stop obsessing about your brother who just showed up in town and who he instantly disliked.
Jordan: That was pretty mutual, don't you think?
Ben: Yeah, I gotta tell you, I still can't believe that, out of all the people in Salem, you got involved with a cop. That's about the worst thing you could do.
Jordan: Don't you think I know that?
Rafe: So do you know the name of the company that Nick worked for in new York?
Gabi: I'm not sure.
Rafe: And the whole time that he was there, he never once got in touch with you?
Gabi: No, Rafe. I didn't expect for him to get in touch with me. Actually, I was as surprised as everybody when he came back.
Rafe: Right. Did he like it? New York, I mean.
Gabi: No, actually he didn't. He wanted to come back.
Rafe: That's funny.
Gabi: What? What's funny?
Rafe: This. Young guy like that, living in an exciting city full of opportunities, and he just dismisses it? Says he doesn't fit in or something?
Gabi: Okay, Rafe. What is it that you're trying to say with all of this?
Rafe: Well, I have a friend in the FBI, and I had him run a little search for me. Turns out that they couldn't find a shred of evidence that Nick was ever in the state, let alone the city of new York. Obviously, it begs the question, where the hell has he been all this time that he's been gone from Salem?
Gabi: Stop it!
Nick: What's your point, Sonny? Or do you not-- you don't have one? You're just kind of toeing the party line with your husband? It's okay if you are.
Sonny: You know what, forget it.
Nick: No, I'm excited now. I was really excited about you taking out that Kiriakis family threat and waving it around. Don't disappoint me. Look, I know that you don't believe anything that I say, but the truth is that I have changed. I don't really give a damn if you believe me or not.
Gabi: You called the FBI on Nick?
Rafe: Yeah, I did, and for good reason.
Gabi: Ay, Dios mio, Rafe.
Rafe: I am looking out for you and for my niece. And every time I ask about Nick, no one has any answers, but they sure as hell are adamant that I should stop asking questions. Now if you are in some sort of trouble because of him--
Gabi: I am not, okay? If anything, Nick is the one trying to keep me out of trouble, again!
Jordan: Physical therapy is intimate. But I never, ever let myself be intimate with my patients. Not emotionally or romantically. It never was an issue before.
Ben: Before Rafe.
Jordan: There was this pull. And every day, I fought it. Every day I fought how I was feeling, how I saw the way he looked at me. And I knew he saw it in my eyes too.
Jordan: Still. You can't help the one that you--
Ben: Love? This can't end well, Jordan.
Anne: The blood work results on Dr. Jonas indicate he was under the influence of a controlled substance while performing surgery. Now this outrageous behavior would've been enough had it not been a repeat offense. So need I remind all of you that Daniel was implicated previously in an incident involving drugs.
Brady: Excuse me. Wait a minute, hold on.
Anne: Now it involves someone else, an employee here at Salem university hospital, a young woman whose name shall remain confidential. But suffice it to say, she nearly died in his company.
Brady: Ms. Milbauer, it's not relevant. You see, Dr. Jonas was cleared of any wrongdoing in that matter. He passed a drug test. His reputation at this hospital is clean. And he's also denied wrongdoing in this particular matter. Therefore, we cannot discount the idea that someone else purposefully caused the appearance of these drugs in his blood work at this time. I think that's clear.
Nicole: Hmm. Looks like Mr. Liam Frasier can't hold a job for long. Could be nothing. It could be a red flag that he's got workplace issues up the you-know-what. Maybe a disgruntled employee can enlighten me. Or how about the ex Mrs. Frasier? Huh. Sealed divorce records. What's up with that?
Eric: When I was a priest, people would come to me to unburden themselves when they had done something they regretted.
Theresa: I've regretted a lot of things, but--
Eric: Why don't we start with what happened with Daniel and any part you may have played in it.
Anne: Dr. Jonas knowingly put a patient's safety at risk.
Brady: Daniel knowingly stopped the surgical procedure when he realized he was unable to complete the operation.
Anne: Please, this is your defense?
Brady: I'm following protocols that were instilled long before this incident took place. So without further ado, if there's no other evidence or no other facts to be presented, the board will take a short recess, and we'll make a determination based upon what we know.
Ben: Does Rafe know how you feel?
Jordan: How could he not? He's the reason I didn't leave Salem.
Ben: You're my sister, and I care about you. I can't ever remember seeing you happier, even though you hate that I'm here.
Jordan: Ben, you know that I love you. It's just so--
Ben: Risky, I know. But, I mean, at least now we won't have some Salem cop digging in our past.
Jordan: That Salem cop used to be in the FBI for eight years.
Ben: FBI? Are you s-- come on! Damn it! I mean, if he wanted to--
Jordan: I know! I know! He could end this, and it could all be over.
Rafe: Gabi. Gabi, I need to know what Nick has on you. Now, is this like the Melanie thing?
Gabi: Rafe, um... this is a lot worse, okay? And it involves other people, all right?
Gabi: Maybe the people that are telling you to back off.
Rafe: Those people?
Gabi: Listen to me. Rafe, okay, just listen to me, please. I'm your sister. Can you just trust me? Please? All right, I'm begging you, on my daughter's life-- I'm begging you, please. Just let this go, okay? It all worked out. And it'll be even better if you just stop talking about it.
Rafe: You have any idea how this sounds to me?
Gabi: I could go to prison, Rafe. Other people could go to prison for something that doesn't even matter anymore.
Rafe: How can this not matter?
Gabi: Rafe, please, please. I am begging you, for my sake, for Arianna's, just let this thing with Nick go!
Nick: Sonny, I only care about what one person in this town thinks of me, and that's Gabi. She sees me for who I really am. She likes what she sees. And I'm sorry if that rains on your--your little parade. But you and everybody else in this town are just gonna have to get used to the idea that me and Gabi are together. Take care.
Rafe: Okay. This is totally against my judgment, but I am not gonna press this. But so help me, God, if Nick hurts you again, I am going to make him pay.
Eric: The thing is, Daniel and Jennifer both think you're involved. Frankly, so do I. But if you tell me everything you know right now, I will do absolutely all I can do to help you out of this mess. Theresa, this is your last chance.
Theresa: You know, like I keep saying, I know nothing about what happened to Dr. Jonas or why-- look, someone else did this, and if you think that I'm gonna let you or somebody else pin this on me, then you're out of your freaking mind.
Nicole: Hi, Debra Frasier, please.
Nicole: I am so glad I reached you. I was wondering if I could speak to you about your ex-husband, Liam.
Debra: What? Forget it. I want nothing to do with that crazy bastard.
Liam: I have the rest of your money and a one-way ticket to Texas leaving in an hour. How'd it go?
Brady: The investigation will continue. But, at this time, there is no credible evidence that Dr. Jonas knowingly ingested these drugs. Now, in this situation, the hospital guidelines are clear. Dr. Jonas will remain off surgical rotation for 30 days. He will also have random drug testing, during which time, if there are no further incidents, and no new evidence comes to light, all of his privileges to practice medicine at this hospital will be fully restored. Non-surgical duties resume, effective tomorrow.
Liam: You really think Jennifer went straight over to Daniel's apartment?
I do. And when she gets there, she'll find exactly what you want her to find.
