Sami: What's that?
EJ: Oh, I don't know. I hadn't noticed it until now.
Sami: Hey, maybe it's about the wedding.
Sami: Let's look. Huh.
[Cell phone rings]
Sami: Samantha Brady. What? No, Steve, that is not what we discussed. [Sighs]
EJ: Stivik? You want me to take that?
Sami: I've got this. No, you listen to me very clearly. If there's more than a 72-hour delay, you will be in breach of contract. You do that, but I want a status report first thing tomorrow. And there's only kind of news to give me in the morning, do you understand? Get it done. [Laughs] I swear, that guy thought that he could-- what?
EJ: Yeah. That was...
Sami: I if have to fire him, do you wanna watch? [Chuckles]
EJ: Mm. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Sami: Wha--what? EJ, I have to go. I have to go 'cause I have to document that call with some emails before my mother gets here.
EJ: Your mother's coming?
Sami: Sorry. Buzzkill.
EJ: No, no, not at all. Why is your mother coming?
EJ: She hates this house. Is it a drive-by?
Sami: No, she is parking. She's coming inside. I am showing her dresses. I have to talk-- no, no, seriously, I have to go do the emails. I have to go to the study, do the emails. My mother is coming.
EJ: Now it is a buzzkill.
Sami: The sooner I get it done--
EJ: The sooner you come back to me!
Sami: Oh! Oh!
Sami: I do love you, but what I should say right now is that I trust you.
EJ: I trust you.
Sami: Oh, my God. Your winkle cream works fast?
Sami: What the hell is that? Is this someone's idea of a joke? Because it's sick. Abigail Deveraux and you.
EJ: I mean, I know, it's just--just beyond belief.
Sami: This is a professional Photoshop job. Is this Stefano's handiwork?
EJ: I find it hard to imagine my father would pull a stunt like this, but he certainly has people who are capable. You know, he has enemies, and we--we--we both do.
Sami: That's your hand. That's your hand on...
Sami: Stay there. Abigail...and you?
EJ: Yes. It was nothing, all right? It me--it--it meant nothing. It was just an idiotic mistake.
EJ: Months ago.
Sami: [Cries] Are you--is she--
EJ: Just--Samantha, breathe. Please.
EJ: Okay? Sweetheart, please. No, no, it's fine. No, it's--that's fine, I'll stay here, all right? I won't move, I'm sorry. I'll stay here. I won't move. I promise.
Sami: I don't even know where to--how to--I don't--
EJ: What can I say to-- [Stammers] It's over. I mean, it--it never was. It was just a meaningless, physical-- Samantha.
Sami: When? I asked that already, didn't I? Where? That's--that's next, right? I mean, where is--this is the-- is this the Horton cabin?
Sami: Where else? Here?
EJ: No, no, no, no. I would never. Please, look--look, just what can I say? What can I do, Samantha?
Sami: Where are--
EJ: Sit--sit down--
Sami: There's another one--
EJ: Maybe--maybe you should sit down.
Sami: No, it's not how. It's the other one.
EJ: Get some water. I'll just get you a glass of water.
Sami: Why? Why?
EJ: There is no good answer to that.
Sami: Did you love her? Do you--
EJ: No, no, I love you. You know that. From the first moment that I saw you until I draw my last breath, it will be you and only you.
Sami: It won't be only... she's very pretty.
EJ: Hey. Trouble. Where are you? Samantha. Look. You want to know why I did it? To protect you.
EJ: It was just after new year's eve. Gabi came here. She was in a state. Abigail was suspicious that something had happened to Nick, and she was gonna go and talk to hope. Sweetheart, if hope investigated, everything would have unraveled, so I went to smith island to stop Abigail from talking.
Sami: By sleeping with her.
EJ: I couldn't let you go to prison. This is me protecting you, sweetheart.
Sami: This is not about protecting me! Don't feed me that--
EJ: No, I did it for you! Yes, I did! You wanna know what happened? It was when you took that jet to Chicago. I asked you one question, "were you gonna marry me?" And you all but threw that ring back in my face!
Sami: You know why I couldn't answer that question!
EJ: No, I knew you were backing away again!
Sami: Well, you sure showed me, didn't you?
EJ: I went to smith island to shut Abigail up!
Sami: That what you call it?
EJ: I was a wreck 'cause I thought I was minutes away from losing you forever!
Sami: So why? Why? What the hell, is that it-- she's a pretty, young thing, and you're a hot, older man?
EJ: I didn't think about it like that.
Sami: Why not? You had sex with our baby-sitter. She's your little brother's ex-girlfriend. She's barely out of college. What were you thinking?
EJ: I wasn't thinking, obviously. It was just one huge, stupid mistake.
Sami: One here at the cabin, and that's it? Or is it still going on? How many times, EJ? Do you--do you still leave her and come crawling in--
EJ: It was only twice.
Sami: Only twice.
EJ: Before we reunited, never after.
Sami: Where? Here?
EJ: No, I would never.
Sami: Where? You tell me where right now. I don't wanna get blindsided walking into some place that--
EJ: The men's locker room.
EJ: Men's locker room.
Sami: Locker room at the company? I came to see you when I came back from that trip. Was it that day? You were in the shower, right? Abigail had been there earlier. Oh, my--you took so long to come out of the shower...
Sami: And I was standing there. I wanted to reach out to you so badly. I...I wanted you. I wanted you so much, I couldn't even breathe. But you took her. She was there the whole time, wasn't she?
Sami: No, you don't touch me! [Cries] Wow, it must've been quite a laugh, huh? Sneaking around behind my back. You two must've been laughing--
EJ: What? We weren't laughing, Samantha. I sent her away the minute--
Sami: The minute I was gone. Well, that's okay then.
EJ: I didn't go looking for it, okay? She just showed up.
Sami: Poor you. What about at the christening, when I asked you to go talk to Abigail? I asked you to handle her. [Cries] Right? We were all saying how good you were at dealing with little Abigail Deveraux. And did you get off on that?
EJ: Nothing about this is--
Sami: Did you have a quickie in father matt's office? 'Cause we all know how deep your drive is to protect me.
EJ: Hey, I deserve this. I do. And I'll take whatever you dish out, I won't blink. But I'm not letting you go.
Sami: And what about when she had that pregnancy scare? I-I held her hand through-- it would've been yours. [Sniffles] Of course, it would've been yours, and she let me hold her hand. That bitch, she sat there and let me comfort her the whole time, knowing--
EJ: She's not pregnant, so...
Sami: So? No harm, no foul? God, you thought she was though. Why? Because you didn't even use protection, did you? You were so hot to jump all over her--
EJ: It wasn't like that.
Sami: Then how was it? EJ, you tell me what was so irresistible about her. What? What? Because she's pretty. She's so young and educated and skinny.
EJ: Look. The only woman that--that I've ever wanted is you. You know that.
EJ: Samantha, for how many years have I waited for you? Have I loved you? I lusted after you. I jumped through every hoop you ever held up. I gave away everything that I have in this world for you. How could you ever think that I would ever want to be with anybody but you?
Sami: Because you took her.
EJ: I wanted you, but you were nowhere to be found.
Sami: I went overnight on a business trip to Chicago--
EJ: No, you don't get to make it that small. This is not about business, all right? You wouldn't commit. After all of this time, after everything we've been through--
Sami: You are gonna stand there and defend what you did to me?
EJ: I'm not defending it. I am not trying to justify it. I'm just telling you where I was. Look. You hate my guts right now, and I don't blame you, and I am sorry to the marrow of my bones. I'm sorry. But I'm not just about to lie down and surrender, Samantha, because I'm fighting for my life right now.
Sami: Your life.
EJ: My life, okay? Our lives. And I'm not letting all of this be for nothing because of one stupid mistake!
Sami: Oh, don't. Don't you use that word. This isn't a mistake, EJ. You forget the dry cleaning, and that is a mistake! This is... this... is betrayal. [Sighs] [Sniffles]
EJ: How can that be true if my heart never left you? Not--not for one second. You know that. You listen to it every night. It's how you fall asleep, Samantha. It's how we breathe.
Sami: [Exhales] You! You touch me again... and I'll drive this through that lying heart. In my salon, I use products without parabens and dyes.
Sami: [Cries] [Grunts] [Sobbing] These are my--my by hand box. These are the invitations I had to deliver personally, along with the plea. "It's different this time, daddy, aunt hope, Eric..." fill in the blank. "EJ makes me so happy. The kids were so happy once we admitted that we loved each other and accepted each other. It's better than I ever thought my life could be. I trust him this time. Daddy, I can trust him. You'll see. This is gonna be my perfect, happy wedding. My perfect, happy beginning."
Sami: Well, at least it didn't happen at the altar. Thank you for that. And I guess I'm lucky that you wanted a souvenir 'cause now I have one.
EJ: Can--can you not see how insignificant this is? I mean, not just next to how much I love you, but next to all the--the monstrous things that we've done to one another. I mean, thi--this is nothing, right? I mean, Abigail, she--she meant nothing.
Sami: That's what makes it so horrible. You crossed a line I never even imagined you could cross. You crossed a line I can never forgive for something that you say meant nothing to you.
EJ: No, no, no, no, please, please, please, please. Samantha, I'm begging you.
Sami: Stop it!
EJ: Give me another chance. Please, please, please. I won't stop, I won't stop it--
Sami: You threw it away, EJ. You threw me away. The second your lips touched her, it was over!
EJ: You're not being rational.
EJ: No, I--
Sami: I'm not being rational? I'm not being rational? What about Sami and EJ, huh? Cut to ribbons? That's not rational?
EJ: I didn't mean it!
Sami: You didn't mean it? You meant it all, EJ! You meant everything! You meant every word! You meant every time! Every lie, you meant it! You did exactly what you wanted to do, you bastard, and you-- you broke us!
EJ: No, no, no, no, no, no!
Sami: You broke me! You broke me! You cheated! You broke me, EJ! You--you--you broke me!
EJ: No, no!
Sami: [Crying] EJ. Thank God. I love you. I love you so-- [Sobbing]
EJ: I'm so sorry.
Marlena: Oh, my God, what hap--what have you done to my daughter?
EJ: Get out, this is private! Get out!
Marlena: What happened here?
Sami: She's gonna find out eventually, EJ.
EJ: Nobody needs to know. No!
Marlena: What is that? Is that--is that Abigail? Oh, my God, how could you?
EJ: This is between Samantha and I!
Sami: There is nothing between us, just our children. That is the only thing--
EJ: Samantha, hey. Hey, look at me, Samantha.
Sami: Mother, I have to get out of here.
Marlena: Okay, I'll take you anywhere you want to go, anywhere.
Sami: I'm leaving.
EJ: No, no, you're not.
Marlena: What shall I do?
Sami: Just pack up some things for the kids, okay?
EJ: No! No, no, no, no, no. That is wrong, Samantha.
Sami: You're wrong!
EJ: You're not taking these kids anywhere!
Sami: I will meet you later. I am getting my children and I am getting them away from you and your little whore!
EJ: Ow! Samantha, what--
Marlena: No, you don't! No, you don't. You stay away from her. My daughter loved you completely. She would've done anything, and she would've stood by you, but not this. There's no way back from betrayal with Sami. She is gone, and you are done. And we can all live without the stench from this house. I'm going upstairs to pack the children's things.
EJ: [Screams] I did it...
EJ: Ah! Oh...
Abigail: EJ. I'm on my way out.
EJ: No, you're gonna let me--
Abigail: What? Let go of me.
EJ: This is important. Listen to me. Samantha knows, and she's on her way-- hey. Wait a second. What is this, Abigail? What is this? W-w-wait a second. Dr. Garcia--
Abigail: Dr. Garcia? Really, EJ? Your father's personal doctor? Looks like Stefano wanted you to get married without any inconvenient loose ends. But yes, I am pregnant, and I'm on my way now to go see a real doctor to get some real prenatal care so that I can take care of my child, and my--
EJ: You're not going anywhere, not until we know where Samantha is. Come with me. Just think about this. She must think you're at work, which means she went to the hospital.
Abigail: Okay, well, then I'll talk to her there.
EJ: You will absolutely not talk to her. Are you kidding? She is furious with you! She'll snap you like a twig--
Abigail: Excuse me, I am not some delicate, little flower.
EJ: What are you talking about, Abigail? You're pregnant!
Sami: Isn't that special?
Abigail: Sami, I-I'm so--
Sami: Pregnant. You're so pregnant. Bummer. Too bad you couldn't spare the time to find a condom before you jumped my fiancÚ.
Sami: You little slut.
Abigail: Sami, I didn't ant--
Sami: You didn't? Was it an accident? Did you trip and fall onto EJ--
EJ: Samantha, enough!
Abigail: EJ and I didn't me--
Sami: EJ and I?
Abigail: No, Sami, no, that's not--we're not--
Sami: Look at that, EJ. Your little girlfriend, she didn't mean it either. You two have so much in common.
Abigail: Sami, we're not--
Sami: Was it enough for you to almost destroy my sister's marriage to Austin? You couldn't stop until you did destroy our family? Well, congratulations, cookie. Mission accomplished. I wouldn't take two steps with you! And as much as I wanna puke at the sight of her, the baby-sitter and I need to go over the house rules.
Abigail: Listen, Sami, I'm--
Sami: Shut up, both of you, and listen to me. Whatever you wanna do to or with each other from now on, it's your business. But I swear to God, you come near my children, and I--
Jennifer: Sami. What is going on here?
Sami: [Chuckles] Tell your mother.
Abigail: Oh, my God, I-- I'm going to be sick.
Sami: Aren't we all? Jennifer, I am sorry to be the one to tell you that your skank of a daughter had sex with my fiancÚ, and good news. You're gonna be a grandmother.
Jennifer: What? Baby, is this true?
EJ: Jennifer, I accept full--
Abigail: EJ, no.
Sami: This is so touching.
Jennifer: What did you do to get my daughter to do that?
Abigail: Oh, my God, I'm gonna be sick.
Sami: No, you don't!
Sami: You are not getting away from me, Abigail. You are gonna stay here and face me and your mother and--
Jennifer: Sami! Abigail!
Sami: Get off! No! All right, come with me.
EJ: No! Abigail!
Jennifer: Oh, my God! Abigail! Abigail! Abigail! Baby, are you okay? Sami! Baby, look at me. Look at me, honey. Are you okay? Baby? Don't move, don't move. Stay right there, don't move. How could you? Don't move.
Sami: Oh, my God.
Jennifer: I'm right here, baby, it's okay. Look at me.
Sami: EJ. Did you see this picture? I know. [Laughs] Right? Our son. [Laughs] But I really don't understand the mustaches he gave to all of us. And then, I was thinking about the dog-- EJ? Is everything all right?
EJ: Yeah. Yeah, no, everything's-- everything's perfect.
Sami: Are you sure you're okay? You're kinda sweaty. Are you getting sick?
EJ: Oh, I--
Sami: No, well, you can't. You can't get sick. You're such a big baby when you're sick. Anyway, I want you to be healthy for our honeymoon. I have plans for you.
Sami: Big surprises. Good ones. Mwah.
Sami: Oh, what was that, anyway?
EJ: Oh, it's nothing. Just a bill from the gardener, that's all.
Sami: My mama's here.
Sami: I've got it, Harold! Thank you so much for coming.
Marlena: You're so welcome. Where are the kids?
Sami: They're at sleepovers, but EJ's inside. Let's say hello.
Marlena: Oh, all righty. Sure. EJ, hello.
Sami: Hi, we're gonna go look at some dresses upstairs, but then we're gonna go to the pub, and I thought maybe you could come with us. Right, mom?
Marlena: Yes. Would you join us?
EJ: Sounds like a girl's night--I actually have some work that I need to take care of, so I'll stay here.
Sami: Well, I'll be home soon.
Sami: Mwah. Love you.
EJ: I love you.
Sami: All right, I have, like, three new dresses to look at.
Marlena: I'm dying to see them.
EJ: You miserable bastard. You want a war with me, old man? You will have one. What is this? Your idea of a wedding present? Do you want to threaten the only reason that I have to live, let alone stay in this house and be civil to you? You wanna threaten my life? My happiness? My children's happiness? My grandchildren's happiness? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, of course you don't. [Sighs] No, you might be the only other person in this town who's happy for this marriage, who's happy that we're together. You didn't do this. Someone else knows.
Marlena: I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I like 'em all. I can't decide.
Sami: I know. We need a harsh, objective critic. Grandma.
Sami: We'll do it. We'll go to the pub. She'll tell us what to do, right? I'll--I'll just shoot EJ an email--how about that? Real quick. Let him know where we're going. What?
Marlena: You look happy. Centered.
Sami: Miracle, right? It fits. We fit. So now, it feels like everything just fits. I finally have the life that I always wanted, mom. I'm whole. And--and--and we're whole. [Laughs] And it's all because of EJ. [Laughs] [Cries] Let's just go, okay? [Sniffles]
EJ: We've walked through too much fire to get to this-- this smile. I won't lose you. I won't lose us. (Vo) welcome to the world of
Sami: Well, I am bummed that grandma is not here. Did you know that she has a poker night?
Marlena: Oh, my. Okay, you know, I will man up, and I will help you pick your dress.
Sami: Well, I want you to girl up instead because I-I just wanna look pretty, you know?
Marlena: You always look pretty.
Sami: I don't know about that, but--I mean, EJ tells me that I do, and I just wanna be the perfect picture, you know? I wanna be the perfect picture he has in his head of his bride. I just want it to be perfect.
Sami: Jenn, hi.
Marlena: Hey, Jenn.
Jennifer: Hi, you two.
Sami: Why don't you join us? We're picking out wedding dresses.
Jennifer: Oh, no, I don't want to intrude.
Sami: No, no, we would love to have your opinion. You could be the tiebreaker. And is Abigail with you? She could help too.
Jennifer: Well, thank you, but actually, she is helping a friend with something.
Sami: Of course she is. She is such good people. [Laughs]
EJ: Thank you for coming.
Abigail: This better be important, EJ. What's the big emergency?
Jennifer: Oh, yeah, that's the neckline.
Marlena: Yep, that's it.
Sami: Okay. Okay, what about...
Marlena: Oh, wait, wait, wait, what happened?
Jennifer: Why are we all of a sudden looking at renaissance art?
Sami: Well, it's sort of a project I'm working on. If you could keep a secret, Abigail's actually been helping me study art so that I can impress EJ on their honeymoon.
Jennifer: That's fun.
Sami: Actually, Abigail's been such a sweetheart through the whole thing. You should be really proud of her.
EJ: You're annoyed. You really didn't expect to hear from me?
Abigail: No. Why would I? Meeting is a bad idea. EJ, we are lucky that we got out of this with no consequences. Why would you--
EJ: I just wanted to be sure you're okay, that's all. You know? I mean, you haven't had anybody to talk to about this, have you? It must be hard.
Abigail: It's better than having anyone know what a fool I was. I would die, EJ. No one--no one would ever even look at me the same.
EJ: Well, we'll just have to make sure that doesn't happen, won't we?
Sami: So this is it, huh?
Jennifer: Yes. Beautiful, mm.
Sami: Well, hallelujah. Ha! That's one more thing I can check off the list. Happy to have that done, right?
[Cell phone rings]
Sami: Oh, uh, hmm. I have to go. I'm so sorry, I have some work I have to take care of. I'm sorry, mom.
Marlena: I'm gonna stick around.
Sami: Okay, okay. Well, thank you both. Thank you, mom, so much.
Marlena: You're welcome. You will be so gorgeous.
Jennifer: Yes, you will.
Sami: Well, I can't wait. All right, I'll see you soon. Bye.
Jennifer: Bye, honey. She looks radiant.
Marlena: I've never seen her happier.
Jennifer: And you look terrified.
Marlena: I'm trying not to be, but--
Jennifer: But she's marrying a DiMera.
Marlena: And how would you feel if your daughter were still involved with a DiMera?
EJ: Well, the wedding's just coming up, so I wanted to make sure there wasn't a trace.
Abigail: Oh, I see. You were afraid that I had told someone about us, weren't you? Why?
EJ: I think I will probably always be afraid of that.
Abigail: You're scared? Of me?
EJ: Abigail, I'm sure that if somebody were to find out, the consequences for you would be terrible. But my life would be over. Samantha would be destroyed.
Abigail: Oh, come on, EJ. Nobody destroys Sami Brady.
EJ: No, they don't.
Abigail: Just the way that you love her, how did we ever happen?
EJ: We didn't. Not because you're not her, and--and--and incredibly beautiful, and a very special young lady because you are.
Abigail: I don't need the pep talk, EJ.
EJ: I would hope not. I would just like you to understand that in this matter, if you ever need to discuss with anybody, I am your only friend. And if you need me to--
Abigail: I won't need you. I won't need you for anything. You can relax, EJ. You're off the hook. And don't ever, ever call me again.
Jennifer: I'm just glad that Abigail and Chad didn't work out.
Marlena: I think you should be.
Jennifer: But hey. Maybe we're wrong. Sami looks amazing and happy. Maybe EJ has come around.
Marlena: Maybe. Maybe.
Abigail: [Sighs] Don't worry, mom. It's done. I promise. EJ is out of my life... forever.
EJ: Well, of course that's the first place I bloody went. Not Abigail, all right, father? This has to be somebody who's connected to us, okay? Somebody who has an ax to grind against us.
EJ: Oh, you know what? I gotta call you back, bye.
EJ: Ha! How was the wedding--
Sami: I did it. I picked a dress, EJ. I want to elope.
EJ: [Laughs] I'll get the car. Mm.
Sami: Mwah. What?
EJ: What? You don't seriously want to elope, do you?
Sami: Yes. I mean, I picked a dress, and usually, things go downhill from here. You know my wedding statistics.
EJ: Why? No, but six is my lucky number, and you wanted to get married in the garden in front of your friends and your family.
Sami: Yeah, I really do, but--but I don't want to tempt fate, you know? I just want to do this.
EJ: Samantha, we--we--we don't run. Come here.
EJ: I'm going to give you the wedding you want, the wedding you deserve.
Sami: The wedding of my dreams?
EJ: The life of our dreams. You're gonna have it.
