Episode #12320 ~ Someone prints photos of EJ & Abigail; Rafe investigates Nick; JJ confides in Paige.
Provided By Suzanne
Aiden: Where are you going?
Hope: To catch up with father Louis. Maybe you don't wanna come clean with him about this disaster, but I do.
Aiden: Hope, hope, hope. Come on, this is not a disaster, all right? There's plenty of time to fix it before the gala.
Hope: What are you talking about? The invitations are supposed to go out soon, and we can't tell anyone the time or the place because we can't book Salem inn ballroom for the party.
Aiden: Whoa, wait a minute now. It's a gala, let's call it by its rightful name.
Hope: [Sighs] This isn't funny.
Aiden: Don't be so quick to admit defeat.
Hope: What do you suggest?
Aiden: Stick with me. We can still pull this off.
JJ: Hey, mom, call me when you find out what's happening with Daniel. Hey! Paige! Paige! Didn't--didn't--didn't you hear me?
Paige: I heard you, okay? Now leave me alone.
Abigail: You know, Sami, we don't have to do this today.
Sami: Oh, no, I want to! Is something wrong?
Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, there's, uh, something going on here.
Sami: Oh, here at the hospital.
Sami: Is it something serious?
Abigail: Yes, but, uh, you know, I--I can't talk about it. I really shouldn't.
Sami: Oh. Okay, well, good. Then you can listen to me. Um, so I'm starting to feel really confident about Giotto, and, uh, I'm--kinda have a handle on Da Vinci. But what I'm really excited about is I have this fantasy of just strolling through the Vatican museum with EJ, and then casually saying, "oh, look! Isn't that St. Jerome in the wilderness?"
Abigail: [Laughs] You know, Sami, are you sure that you have time to learn all that stuff? I mean, you've got your big wedding to worry about, and...
Sami: Oh, no, my wedding is the thing I'm least worried about right now. In fact, it is coming along perfectly.
EJ: Come on in. Uh, if you're looking for your mother, though, she's not here.
Will: Uh, no, actually, I, um...I came to see you. [Sighs]
EJ: Something wrong?
Will: I think I messed up... in a very big way.
EJ: So tell me... what's wrong?
Will: Gabi and I were arguing about Nick.
Will: And I admitted that I was worried about Ari.
EJ: And you brought up the custody agreement.
Will: Even though you told me not to.
EJ: Hmm. So how did that go down?
Will: She was blown away.
Will: Upset. [Sighs] I have my mom's gene for screwing things up.
EJ: You didn't screw anything up. Don't blame your mother. You came to the right place.
Abigail: I'm glad that everything is going so well. You and EJ deserve to be really happy together, Sami.
Sami: Thank you. [Laughs] You're gonna find that too with someone.
Abigail: Yeah, I'm sure I will someday. So, uh, tell me, what have you been learning about Giotto?
Sami: Oh, um, before we get into that, actually... [Sighs] You're really good friends with Gabi, right?
Sami: I kinda got into it with her, and now will is really mad at me.
Abigail: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm sure you guys will work it out.
Sami: And I think we would work it out too if it weren't for...Nick. I know he's your cousin, and I hate putting you on the spot...
Abigail: It's okay, you aren't.
Sami: Well, I'm about to.
Sami: What do you think of him? Honestly.
Gabi: Okay, Rafe, listen. You can't beat Nick up every time that you find us together. I love you and everything, but this is my life. Hello! Are you hearing what I'm saying?
Will: Rafe, I don't know what you could do that would make this better, but I do know that you can make this a lot worse.
Gabi: I asked if you heard me.
JJ: Hey, hey, hey. Hey!
Paige: I told you to leave me alone.
JJ: What's wrong? Why are you so mad?
Paige: [Sighs] Oh, I'm sorry, I guess I'm supposed to be honored that I got stood up by someone like you.
JJ: No, I--I didn't stand you up, I was late.
Paige: I hung around and waited for you. I was so sure that you'd show up or at least let me know what was going on with you. God! I am such a moron.
JJ: Hold on! No, no. D--didn't you get my text?
Paige: [Sighs] Marybeth said you'd try to use that lame line.
JJ: You were with her?
Paige: See? [Sighs] No text.
JJ: I--I--look. I am telling you I sent you one. Look. All right, lookit. Even has that thing on the side that says it was delivered. And it has the time right there.
Paige: That doesn't make sense. Marybeth and I went to TBD after we decided you'd blown me off. Marybeth kept going on and on about how I should never have trusted you. I...got up to get us some coffees, but I left my phone on the table.
JJ: [Sighs] You think she deleted my text?
Paige: [Sighs] I can't believe her.
JJ: Yeah, she really oughta mind her own business. I was late. And I probably should've called instead of texting. And I'm sorry. Give me another chance?
Paige: What do you wanna do?
JJ: I was headed home, and you could come with me if you'd like. We can... we could hang out.
Hope: What do you suggest that we do?
Aiden: I suggest that we con Howell into giving up that ballroom.
Aiden: Yeah, we're gonna get something on him.
Hope: No, no, no, he's a model citizen.
Aiden: Model citizen--are you kidding me? Those types all have skeletons in the closet.
Hope: You're talking about extortion, and this is a church fundraiser.
Aiden: Well, what...
Hope: Oh! Hold on. [Sighs] Hope Brady. Yeah, I know. Are you sure? No, it's okay. We'll deal with it, thanks.
Aiden: Okay. What was that all about?
Hope: Forget about curt Howell. Compared to what I just found out, he's just a minor annoyance.
Abigail: I know that Nick isn't your favorite person, Sami.
Sami: Well, no, I'm asking... how you feel about him. I mean, you're friends with Gabi--you care about her. Do you really wanna see her spend the rest of her life with him?
Abigail: What if he's changed?
Sami: Do you honestly think that he has?
Abigail: I don't know. I mean, I've had a couple conversations with him, and it seems to me that all Nick wants is to live a happier life. I mean, is that so bad?
Sami: Well, I guess that depends on what would make him happy.
Abigail: People make mistakes. Huge ones sometimes. Does that mean it's just over for them? I mean, what about you, Sami? If you did something really big, I mean, you really messed up, but you were trying to be a better person, then don't you think that you would deserve to have a second chance?
EJ: So did you trash Nick to Gabi?
Will: No, I was very careful not to. She still told me that I was crazy for thinking that Nick would try to come between Ari and me. Maybe she's right.
EJ: Well, you don't really believe that, do you?
Will: I mean, maybe he has learned from what happened. Wouldn't it make it easier for everyone if that were true?
EJ: What does Sonny think?
Will: Sonny thinks I'm dreaming. What do you think?
EJ: Oh, I agree with Sonny. But now that you have opened the door to a custody agreement, I think it would be best to proceed with the right lawyer.
EJ: Well, I understand the situation completely. I think Gabi does trust me. And I feel fairly confident that I can convince her that this is for her protection as well as yours obviously.
Will: So I didn't blow things up completely?
EJ: Not completely. No. I think that--I think that everything's gonna be just fine.
Nick: The last thing that I want is for there to be any trouble between you guys, so I think I'm gonna take off.
Gabi: No, no, no, you're not gonna go anywhere, and you have nothing to be sorry about. Right?
Rafe: That's right. That's actually why I came here. I came looking for you because I wanted to apologize to you. I am sorry for upsetting you... and for the fight that we had. All of it.
Gabi: Thank you. This means so much to me. What if you could shrink your pores just by washing your face?
Hope: Every year, the biggest donor of items for the auction is a woman named Giselle van hopper.
Aiden: Blue blood?
Hope: Bluest of the blue.
Hope: She's all over the society pages. And she has an art collection that would make any small museum jealous.
Aiden: Well, my favorite kind of person.
Hope: Every year she donates a lithograph or two, and it raises more money for St. Luke's than all of the other donations put together. Only this year, she's decided not to participate.
Aiden: Why, what's her problem?
Hope: I don't know. I don't have any idea. But without her, we might as well not even have the gala.
Aiden: You're exaggerating, right?
Hope: No. Not really. Collectors come in from out of town to bid on the piece that she puts up for auction, brings in over half the total revenue.
Aiden: All right. What's her phone number?
Hope: Why? You gonna call her?
Aiden: Yeah, I'm gonna call her.
Hope: What are you gonna say?
Aiden: Look, I am not gonna be the event chairman that louses up the biggest moneymaker of the year three hours after I got the job. Is that who you want to be?
Hope: No, of course not.
Aiden: No, no.
Hope: But you know what?
Hope: You're not gonna call her.
Hope: We're gonna track her down and confront her in person.
Aiden: Now you're talking.
JJ: Is anybody home? Guess not. Look, I really thought that mom and Abigail would be home by now. I was not trying to...
Paige: Get me alone?
JJ: I'm on shaky ground as it is with you, so...
Paige: No, you're not.
JJ: Do you want to go out for some coffee? [Mutters] Uh, or not.
Paige: Wait, we don't have to go anywhere. I'm not afraid to be alone with you. In fact I kind of like it.
[Cell phone rings]
JJ: Let me--let me check this out.
Paige: Everything okay? JJ?
Paige: JJ, what is it? What happened?
Abigail: I shouldn't have asked you about Nick. I can see you're upset.
Abigail: If I am, it's not your fault.
Sami: Oh, about the thing that's happening here? The thing you can't talk about?
Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, that's it. Yeah.
Abigail: It's okay.
Sami: Maybe you were right. Maybe this isn't a good time for us to get together. Look, Abigail, haven't you ever had a gut feeling about someone and you can't put your finger on it, but, no matter what this person says or what they do, you just know that they're not a good person?
Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, I have. But then sometimes I think... if I can't put my finger on it, then maybe I'm wrong.
Sami: I see what you're saying. Except I know I'm not wrong. Oh, Gabi, if you only knew.
Nick: You mean the world to Gabi, and I hope that someday you and I can even--even be friends.
Rafe: Maybe. I'm gonna have to be honest with you. My sister means the world to me, you're gonna have to prove yourself.
Nick: No, it's okay. It's the same thing that I've been saying to myself since I got back here.
Rafe: From new York, you mean?
Rafe: Yeah. Well, I have to get going.
Gabi: Okay. So he's gonna give you a chance. I mean, maybe all of this will work out.
EJ: So a villa instead of a hotel suite? Well, is it fully staffed? Huh. Well, I would need to see some photographs. No, I love the idea. I'm sure my fiancée would be absolutely thrilled.
Hope: Please offer Mrs. Danvers' apologies to Mrs. Van hopper. Giselle van hopper has her hair done every week at this time at that place right over there. She should be coming this way any minute.
Aiden: Okay. Now is this Mrs. Danvers gonna be upset that you were pretending to be her social secretary?
Hope: Oh, I don't think so, since she only exists in a book.
Hope: Oh, there she is. Mrs. Van hopper, hello. Hope Brady. So lovely to see you.
Giselle: Pleasure to see you too, dear.
Hope: I'd like you to meet Aiden Jennings.
Giselle: How do you do, Mr. Jennings?
Aiden: Very well. Nice to meet you.
Hope: Aiden and I are the co-chairs for St. Luke's fundraising gala this year. We were wondering--
Giselle: Why I didn't contribute to this year's auction.
Aiden: Yes, it was a bit of a disappointment.
Giselle: I am sorry about that, but I couldn't possibly attend the gala this year, and what's the fun of donating if you're not there to see the bidding?
Hope: Do you mind if I ask why you can't attend?
Giselle: I'm sure you've read about my divorce from Mr. Van hopper.
Hope: I'm terribly sorry.
Giselle: Oh, God, I'm not. Harry was a crashing bore. But apparently the 25-year-old blonde he just married doesn't think so. Everyone I know is talking about it, and I just don't relish the idea of attending a large public function alone.
[Cell phone ringing]
Giselle: Hello, Maria? Is everything okay at the house? But I don't know any Mrs. Danvers. Excuse me.
Hope: Should be easy.
Aiden: Yep, all we got to do is find her a date.
Hope: And make sure he's not a crashing bore.
Aiden: Yes, yes, yes. Now her husband dumped her for someone who's young and sexy. We just got to find her a guy that's gonna drive the husband crazy.
Hope: Know of anyone?
Aiden: I don't have a date that night.
Paige: JJ, what happened?
JJ: It's this thing that's been going on. It's the reason why I was late earlier.
Paige: What thing?
JJ: It's Daniel.
Paige: Dr. Jonas? Is he okay?
JJ: Yeah, it's just that someone set him up.
JJ: They fixed it so he went into surgery high.
Paige: Who would do something like that?
JJ: Well, I'm pretty sure that it's this girl that works at the hospital. She came on to Daniel, and Daniel told her to get lost. So I think that she put some prescription pills in his coffee or something.
Paige: That's horrible.
JJ: Yeah, you don't know the half of it.
Paige: He's a wonderful doctor and a really nice man.
JJ: The text that I just got, it was from my mom. There's a hearing tomorrow about Daniel's suspension. It's all on Daniel. He has to prove that he's not a drug addict.
Paige: Why would that woman do something like that to him? How does she even know him?
JJ: Well, that's the thing. It's pretty much my fault.
Nick: I got to take off. You feel better about Rafe and me, though, right? Good. And don't worry about will talking about a custody agreement either. It could be a good thing for you too.
Gabi: You have this way of keeping me from freaking out.
Nick: I'm glad.
Gabi: Maybe I should talk to a lawyer. I mean, Justin did my contract, and he's really nice.
Nick: Yeah, yeah, totally, but, I mean, he's also Sonny's dad. You know, I mean, not that he'd do anything unethical. Just he might not want to get involved.
Gabi: I mean, I don't know any other lawyers, so...
Nick: Let me think about it. Okay? The only thing that you have to remember is everything's gonna work out.
Sami: Hey, Rafe.
Rafe: Well, well, well.
Sami: What's wrong?
Rafe: How do you know something's wrong?
Sami: I don't. I mean, I just was reading you, obviously. Is something wrong with Jordan?
Rafe: No. No, she's fine. But I did just have the pleasure of running into Gabi making out with Nick.
Sami: Oh, God.
Rafe: Yeah. Yeah. She's blind when it comes to that creep.
Sami: I bet you wanted to hit him.
Rafe: I already did that, so I actually tried to stay calm this time.
Sami: Wait, wait, you punched Nick?
Sami: I would have paid money to see that. How am I just hearing about this now?
Rafe: Well, you would have known all about it if you come when I asked to see you. But you didn't. No, you sent your fiancé to handle me.
[Cell phone rings]
EJ: What's up? You can tell him I will definitely be at the meeting. Yes. All right.
Aiden: I'm sorry, are you sure that there's nothing I can do to convince you to come to the gala?
Giselle: I haven't been a wallflower since I was in boarding school, and I'm not going to be one now.
Aiden: If it's just a question of not having an escort, you know, that is-- that's easy.
Giselle: What exactly are you suggesting, young man?
Aiden: Well, I will be attending the gala myself alone, not too happy about that. And I was just thinking that two fascinating, attractive people not having a partner for the evening, it'd be a shame if we didn't come up with a creative way to solve the problem. And at the same time sticking it to Mr. Van hopper.
Giselle: I believe I can think of an even better way of sticking it to harry.
JJ: This girl I think did this to Daniel, she used to work for my mom. And she and I bonded for a while because we-- we both did drugs. And she and I, we both wanted my mom and Daniel to split up.
Paige: You wanted that? Why?
JJ: After my dad died, I couldn't stand the idea of my mom being with someone new. So I just did horrible things to Daniel. You know, things that he totally did not deserve. And this girl, she hated my mom for reasons that I don't even get. But she wanted them to break up too just to make my mom miserable.
JJ: Yeah, I know, right? So anyway... me and this girl, we were getting high together, and she OD'd. And I freaked out. And I called Daniel. And Daniel showed up at her apartment, and he saved her life. And after everything that I did to the guy, he covered for me. And he kept me from going to jail.
Paige: So he's like a hero.
JJ: So she made her play for him, and he turned it down. And now I'm sure that she is doing this just to get back at him. And now he could lose his license. And it's all because of me.
Nick: Thanks for meeting me.
Abigail: Yeah, of course. Nick, what happened to your lip?
Nick: Oh, it's no big deal. You wouldn't believe this. I got up in the middle of the night to get, you know, like, a drink of water or something, boom, ran right into a door. I'm such a klutz.
Abigail: Hmm, well, maybe next time you will use a nightlight.
Nick: Oh, believe me, I'll be more careful next time.
Abigail: Hmm. So what did you want to talk to me about?
Nick: I need a lawyer.
Abigail: What do you mean? What kind of lawyer?
Nick: A really good one.
Gabi: Hey, is she asleep?
Will: Shh. I took her out for a little while.
Gabi: Thank you. I needed to go out and clear my head.
Will: You don't have to thank me. I'm her dad. I'm also the reason that you're upset. Dropping that whole custody thing on you the way that I did, I blew it.
Gabi: Yeah, you did.
Sami: Rafe, I did not send EJ to handle you, okay? I would never do that. He wanted to come.
Sami: Because--because I had gotten into it with Gabi earlier, said some things I shouldn't have said, and you know how I can get. We agreed that he didn't want me to shoot my mouth off anymore and upset you.
Rafe: Right. Is that really it? Or is it that EJ didn't want you to clue me in on something that I shouldn't know about? Sami? I know that something is going on.
Sami: Yeah, something is going on. Nick is pursuing Gabi again, and it's upsetting.
Rafe: Yeah, well, it's more to it than that, isn't it?
Sami: It's upsetting for all of us.
Rafe: He as much as admitted it to me.
Rafe: Will, yeah.
Sami: Well, I don't know. I really don't know what you're talking about.
Rafe: You know, it's just funny that Nick has you and will dancing to his tune. And that's what EJ didn't want you to clue me in on, isn't it? But you're not just protecting yourself. You're protecting my sister too, aren't you?
Paige: This whole thing, it must be really hard for you.
JJ: Yeah, it's just not about me. It's about what Daniel is going through. It's just--it's not fair. This shouldn't be happening.
Paige: You know what I think? That you blame yourself too much. I'll bet Dr. Jonas isn't mad at you at all. I bet he's proud of you for getting it together. Face it, Deveraux. You're a good guy.
Hope: Giselle's into women?
Aiden: All I know is she turned me down flat. But when she looked at you, her face looked like my son's face when he's staring down an ice cream sundae with a cherry on top.
Hope: No wonder she thought Harry was a bore. But, hey, I can't go to the gala with her. I'm working it.
Aiden: She's not gonna go without a date. Look, I'd set her up with my aunt ivy, but she got married last year.
Hope: If she wants something that's gonna drive her ex crazy, it's not me. This whole town knows I'm not gay.
Aiden: So I guess we finance the next year at St. Luke's with the proceeds from your aunt Maggie's lemon bars. You can do it.
Roman: Hey-hey. Counselor.
Aiden: Ah, Mr. Brady.
Roman: How you doing?
Aiden: I'm doing all right.
Roman: I need to talk to you about an evidence request. Your office told me I could find you hanging out here.
Aiden: Oh, I'm not hanging out. In fact I'm working with your sister-in-law, the St. Luke's gala.
Roman: Okay. How's it going?
Aiden: Well, I'll let you know in a minute.
Hope: Aiden told me you may come to the gala after all. I was so happy to hear that.
Giselle: I also told him I have no intention of going to the gala alone.
Hope: Right. Well, my husband's out of town. I don't have a date either. Maybe we could go--
Giselle: Oh, darling, I'm not going to the gala with you.
Hope: Oh, you aren't? But Aiden--
Giselle: I was hoping you might arrange for me to go with someone you know.
Hope: Sure. Of course. Who is it?
Gabi: Will, you have to admit, your timing did suck. Your mom had just finished telling me that I was unfit to raise my daughter, and then you start talking about legal custody.
Will: I know.
Gabi: Well, it was probably the best thing you did.
Gabi: Yeah. We should just iron this out now, and your mom will have to back off.
Will: So this walk you took really did clear your head.
Gabi: Well, it did more than that. I talked to somebody that helped me realize that I was making too much out of what you said.
Will: Great. Was it Rafe?
Gabi: No, it was Nick.
Abigail: Why do you need a lawyer?
Nick: Don't worry. It's not for me.
Abigail: Good, but why do you think that I have a long list of lawyers?
Nick: I was thinking about that lawyer who helped with JJ.
Abigail: Yeah, he was great. His name was Aiden--Aiden something. But he's great.
Nick: Yeah? Could you find out his last name for me?
Abigail: If this lawyer isn't for you, Nick, is this for Gabi?
Nick: I was kind of hoping to get the name without getting a lecture.
Abigail: Lecture about what?
Nick: About me avoiding Gabi.
Abigail: No lecture.
Abigail: Though I would like to be reassured.
Nick: About what?
Abigail: Do you know what you're doing?
Nick: Yeah. I know exactly what I'm doing.
Sami: Look, I know that you are worried about Gabi, and, I promise you, I'm not gonna just stand on the sidelines and do nothing if I see her getting herself into a bad situation.
Rafe: Getting into? We're way past that, okay. I just apologized to that jackass.
Sami: Okay. Okay, well, you did the right thing. This could be worse than it is right now, okay? Just remember that.
Rafe: Worse how? Sami!
Sami: The best thing you can do is leave it alone, Rafe. Just--I mean it.
Aiden: So how'd it go?
Hope: So good you're here.
Hope: It's really good you're here.
Roman: I'll bet.
Roman: I gave you an excuse to get away from Giselle, right?
Hope: What do you mean?
Roman: Well, that woman's your basic nightmare. Harry van hopper couldn't take it anymore, and now she's trolling for her next victim.
Hope: How do you know that?
Roman: Well, because I get a very uncomfortable feeling she's zeroing in on me.
Roman: Yes. A woman like that does not join my parks clean-up committee 'cause she wants to pick up garbage.
Roman: I avoid her like the plague.
Hope: Oh. Oh, really?
Roman: Okay. Listen, I got to run. Good luck with the gala.
Aiden: Boy, has he got that wrong. What time is she picking you up?
Hope: She isn't. And roman isn't wrong. The only reason she wanted to talk to me was because she thinks I can help her get to him.
Aiden: Oh, fine, then we got to make that happen.
Hope: Aiden, no, no, no. I've known roman most of my life, and I love him dearly, but honestly he's as stubborn as a mule.
Aiden: Yeah, look, if he knows that it's for a good cause--
Hope: Aiden. He's my brother-in-law. You heard him. He wants nothing to do with her. Nothing.
Aiden: Great. It just keeps on getting worse.
JJ: You think I'm a good guy. Whoa.
[Cell phone rings]
Paige: Oh, my turn. Oh, I'm supposed to be home. I have to go.
JJ: You've got to go right now?
Paige: Yeah. I really hope everything's okay with Dr. Jonas.
Paige: I'll see you at school.
JJ: Yeah, I'll be there.
Will: Nick got you to see that a custody agreement was a good idea?
Gabi: Yeah. Now aren't you sorry that you said all those horrible things about him? He totally understood what you were worried about, even after I told him why you brought it up. He didn't get angry and try to turn me against you. He actually helped me feel better about it. He's not the guy that you, Sonny, your mom, and Kate say he is.
Will: We're not saying those things for no reason. Nick knows that he can put you and mom and grandma and probably me away in prison any time he wants to.
Gabi: That's not what he wants, will.
Gabi: She probably lost her pacifier.
Will: So what does he want?
Abigail: Uh, the way you said that you know exactly what you're doing, it was a little scary.
Nick: Scary? No, I wasn't-- I wasn't trying to be scary. I just--I'm trying to express to you how much this means to me. You know, I never stopped loving Gabi, and whether we end up together is totally up to her. I said that before, and I meant it.
Abigail: Yeah, okay. Uh-huh.
Nick: So how about you?
Abigail: What do you mean? What about me? Well, I mean, it's been a while since things went south with Chad, and you're a smart, beautiful girl. How long are you gonna sit on the sideline?
Abigail: I'm in no hurry. You know, sometimes I think that the sidelines are the perfect place to be.
EJ: What's wrong?
Sami: I ran into Rafe on the way home.
Sami: And he's upset about Gabi and Nick, of course.
Sami: And he's figured out that will and I are doing whatever Nick wants and that we are protecting Gabi.
EJ: So what did you say?
Sami: I think I did a good job of convincing him that, if he gets involved, he'll just make it worse. Mwah. Hey, what's that?
EJ: Oh, I don't know. I hadn't noticed it.
Sami: It might be about the wedding. Let's find out. Huh.
