EJ: This is what you want, isn't it?

Abigail: Yes.

Sami: Whoa! [Yelps] Oh, my God. Rafe, I'm so sorry. Oh, I'm so sorry.

Rafe: I'm fine, I'm fine.

Sami: Oh, God, I really didn't mean to do that, I just-- where's your--where's your cane? Where ca--

Rafe: I traded it in for a better model: None.

Sami: Really?

Rafe: Yeah.

Sami: Rafe, that's wonderful.

Rafe: Okay. All right.

Sami: Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to... [Laughs] Keep attacking you. I'm sorry.

Jordan: [Gasps] What are you doing here?

Jennifer: I heard that you are doing your community service at the hospital.

JJ: Did you pull some strings?

Jennifer: No, I didn't really, but I'm thrilled to have you here.

JJ: Well, I wonder if a certain doctor had something to do with it.

Jennifer: I wouldn't be surprised. Thank you for being happy for us.

JJ: Well, I am. I really am, mom.

Daniel: Where are you going?

Nicole: Uh...I got a room so you wouldn't have to. And I don't want you to argue...

Daniel: No, what--huh--

Nicole: No arguing. Zip.

Daniel: Just, uh--no arguing.

Nicole: I didn't think you would. You have fun tonight, okay?

Daniel: Uh, hold on.

Nicole: Hmm.

Daniel: Are you okay?

Nicole: Of course I'm okay. Why wouldn't I be okay?

Daniel: Well, we just didn't finish our conversation before Eric walked in. And then you were lugging some trash bag that you brought in from work.

Nicole: [Scoffs]

Daniel: And you just seem not your perky self.

Nicole: My perky self?

Daniel: Yeah. Does it have something to do with what was in that bag?

Stefano: To you. The last person I thought who would want to see me. Must be very important.

Marlena: Important? Stefano, I had no idea you were such a master of the understatement.

Nicole: No, that was just, uh, work stuff. Couldn't wait to get to it. So I kept it in my car anyway 'cause I didn't want your place to look like a sty.

Daniel: No, no, no. Something is wrong.

Nicole: Nothing...

Daniel: I know you.

Nicole: Is wrong. Zip it.

Daniel: I d--

Nicole: Okay, you know what? You know what you need to focus on? You need to focus on getting ready for your date and I will do the same, okay?

Daniel: Okay. You, uh, nervous?

Nicole: No. I mean...being with Eric, that's easy. It's just being seen in public.

Daniel: Yeah, you afraid how people will react?

Nicole: Yeah. Because he's a priest and I'm a--

Daniel: Okay, but that's not your problem.

Nicole: No, but--

Daniel: No, you zip it. Are you worried about one person in particular? Say, uh, Marlena?

Stefano: You must be in dire straits if you come to see me to talk.

Marlena: It's Eric. Stefano, we both know what people think he did to your daughter. And we know what a big difference it would make to him if the truth came out.

Stefano: But he has chosen to be a priest, no?

Marlena: It is his life. And he can get that back. But his future is in your hands.

Stefano: Hmm.

JJ: Hey.

Jennifer: Oh, hi.

Eric: Hi. Hope I'm not interrupting.

Jennifer: No, not at all. You got my message.

JJ: And I am just on my way out. All right, don't be out past your curfew.

Jennifer: Okay.

Eric: Oh, it's a, uh, curfew?

Jennifer: Yeah, isn't it wonderful when your words come back to haunt you?

Eric: Constantly.

Jennifer: Thank you for coming.

Eric: No problem. Actually, I wanted to talk to you.

Jennifer: Okay, about what?

Eric: Daniel.

Jordan: I told you not to come.

Ben: After you disappeared without a word.

Jordan: It's not like I was hiding. You knew where I was.

Ben: Once you were already gone. Did you honestly think that I would stay away?

Sami: Oh, I'm sorry. I'm like a serial hazard.

Rafe: But we knew that so.

Sami: Right.

Rafe: But it's okay because I'm actually getting pretty good at this--this "own two feet" thing.

Sami: Yeah.

Rafe: Yeah. Thank you for the well wishes.

Sami: I had no idea you were doing so well.

Rafe: All right, well, you don't have to sound so stunned.

Sami: Oh, right. No, I meant me. Just that I should have been checking up with you more.

Rafe: No, a lot's happened in a short amount of time. It's good. Life's good. And thank you, by the way, because I know I wouldn't even be standing here were it not for you. So I hope things are great with you too.

Sami: Yeah, they are.

Rafe: Yeah?

Sami: They are. You don't have to sound so stunned.

Rafe: [Laughs] No, it's just, um, shouldn't you be married? What's going on with you and EJ?

Sami: Oh, yeah, no. We've actually set a date. The invitations are going out soon. I mean, not that I expect you to wanna be there or anything. I'm just, uh--

Rafe: Yeah.

Sami: We're excited, you know? We're walking down the aisle in may.

EJ: Just don't call me back until you have an answer, okay? What if you could shrink your pores just by washing your face?

EJ: Abigail.

Abigail: I don't want a scene any more than you do. But we can't leave things the way that we did. EJ, people think that we're friends. Even your fiancée thinks I'M...swell. I don't think that anyone is going to care if we sit down like two normal people and just chat. Please?

Rafe: Well, that's great news. It is. As long as you're happy.

Sami: Of course I'm happy. And my grandma told me about you and...Jordan?

Rafe: Yeah, we--we don't have to talk about that.

Sami: Oh, right. Of course not. Um, I just meant to say that I think it's nice that we both have gotten to a place where we can, you know, be happy that things are so good for both of us. And what about Gabi and will and that beautiful baby of theirs?

Rafe: Yeah.

Sami: What?

Rafe: I want you to be happy. I really do.

Sami: But?

Rafe: But I also want you to know that I'm never gonna stop trying to bring down Stefano. Or EJ.

Eric: I know I haven't known Daniel very long, but when I needed help, I mean, he has really put his life on the line for me. I mean, he's a good guy. I don't need to tell you that.

Jennifer: No, you don't.

Eric: But really, I just must say that--I know it's not my place, but he loves you so much.

Jennifer: Eric, I--

Eric: Okay, just hear me out, really.

Jennifer: Okay.

Eric: I know you're angry because you were hurt.

Jennifer: Yes, yes, it hurts. It does. It did.

Eric: Okay, then just give him another chance.

Jennifer: Okay, you know what, I will.

Eric: Well, that was pretty easy.

Jennifer: You were very, very persuasive and a day too late.

Eric: I am?

Jennifer: Yes, because Daniel and I are working things out. I hope. And I'm gonna be seeing him tonight.

Nicole: I don't care what Marlena thinks of me.

Daniel: You're afraid Eric might.

Nicole: No, I'm used to being the town's pariah.

Daniel: Okay, I saw the look on your faces when you guys were tangling. It bothers you, and it should. If you want me to set her straight, I will set her straight.

Nicole: Daniel.

Daniel: I will--

Nicole: Daniel.

Daniel: No, she should be grateful. You put your life on the line for her son.

Nicole: So did you. And you could have been killed, and for what?

Marlena: You know, there is something we share though. We would both do anything to protect our families. Anything at all.

Stefano: Even begging?

Marlena: Yes. Stefano, there is a higher power than you. Do you even admit that?

Stefano: Why do we even ask?

Marlena: My son was called by God. There is so much he can do to help people.

Stefano: Yes. With my help.

Marlena: Yes. And as Eric says, it's never too late to save a soul.

Stefano: Mm.

Marlena: And we know that God works in mysterious ways. Stefano... if you can help my son, if you can find a way to right this wrong, I would be forever grateful. Across America, people like basketball hall of famer

JJ: Uh, hi, my name is JJ. Jack Deveraux. I'm supposed to be starting community service here today. But I don't--I'm not sure who I'm supposed to check in with., I'm sorry. I haven't heard anything about it.

Anne: I have. Hello, JJ.

JJ: I-I was told to come down here.

Anne: Oh, I know, I know. I just got off the phone with your probation officer and I have canceled your assignment.

JJ: But I have to--

Anne: Atone for your crimes? I bet you figured you would do that with your feet up on your mommy's desk and your ass in a chair while the rest of us run around and wait on you like the entitled Horton...

JJ: No.

Anne: You are? Let me tell you something, kid. I can't do anything about the glut of other lazy and felonious Hortons populating this place, but when I pointed out to the court that perhaps a known drug dealer should not have access to the hospital pharmacy, they saw my point immediately. So you've been reassigned.

JJ: Where?

Anne: To the salt mines, one could only hope. This is where you are to report. And JJ, ooh, you're late.

EJ: Of course. I have a minute.

Abigail: Good, that's all this should take. It's time to be honest, EJ. Brutally honest.

EJ: Okay, well, that's what I've always tried to be.

Abigail: With me, yes. But not with Sami or with your kids. Actually, as a matter of fact, not with me either. Didn't this whole thing start because of a lie? Whatever it was that happened with--with Nick and Gabi, you were so desperate to keep me quiet that you--

EJ: Oh, no, that's--that's--

Abigail: EJ, just don't--don't make it worse. Please, don't lie again. You've never been honest with me about that night. And you never will be. Isn't that right?

EJ: [Exhales] Okay. I don't like to admit it, but yes, you're right. It's not that I don't want to, Abigail. It's that I can't. I hope you respect that in every other way I worked very hard to be truthful with you about everything. Everything. You do know that, right?

Sami: Did you really need to go there?

Rafe: I don't like having to say it, but I can't stand here and pretend your fiancé is something that he isn't.

Sami: Right, right, we deserve each other and to be miserable together forever. I remember.

Rafe: You--you. You deserve so much better, and the kids?

Sami: They love their father. And he is really good to them and he's not going to hurt me, Rafe.

Rafe: Mm. Or me.

Sami: Well, not now.

Rafe: Mm. 'Cause I'm not a threat to you anymore? Or him?

Sami: EJ has changed, okay? And he--he's given up a lot for me. If you knew what he had done for me...

Rafe: So that's now why you're finally getting around to marrying him? You feel indebted?

Sami: I am marrying him because I love him with all of my heart. I just didn't know his--

Rafe: Mm.

Sami: I just didn't always know how to live with him, and now--

Rafe: He's changed? That it? Where have I heard that before? Oh, right. He's like a regular Nick Fallon, huh?

Sami: How dare you compare him to that sick bastard?

Rafe: I'm pretty sure it's actually more of an insult to Nick.

Sami: Okay, stop it. Can we just please stop this? Because I am genuinely happy for you and I wish you could just be happy for me.

Rafe: I want you to be happy. Don't you understand that I want you to find happiness, but you're not gonna find it with EJ.

Ben: You're worried he's gonna show up, aren't you?

Jordan: I don't know what you mean.

Ben: Oh, come on. This is me you're talking to. I saw the two of you. Right here as a matter of fact.

Jordan: Well, I think you got the wrong impression.

Ben: I saw you kissing. I'm pretty sure I know what that means and why you wouldn't want him to see us talking.

Daniel: No, Nicole, what we did wasn't for nothing. Not at all. I mean, maybe we didn't get what we wanted out of Chyka, but we fought. And you? You tried--you tried your best. You took that risk.

Nicole: Yeah, but I dragged you into a dangerous situation.

Daniel: No, I think actually I-I dragged you first. What you were willing to do for Eric, that was totally, totally selfless.

Nicole: I told you it wasn't.

Daniel: No, but you think about--think about where you were a year ago.

Nicole: Oh, yeah. I've come a long way, baby.

Daniel: Don't do that to yourself. A year at St. Luke's that has--that has changed you.

Nicole: But I didn't take vows. I didn't even go to mass. I just pushed papers around at the rectory.

Daniel: I'm telling you the Nicole that is standing in front of me right here, she would never do the things she did to Jennifer, or--

Nicole: Sami or Lucas or to Chloe. Or to you.

Daniel: You are an amazing woman. You're a good friend, you hear me?

Nicole: Well, I am going to be a good friend and I am going to get the hell out of here so you can have a really good night. Okay, you have...

Daniel: Thank you.

Nicole: Have fun tonight, okay?

Daniel: Yeah, uh, you--you too.

Nicole: Thanks. No, Daniel, I am not a very good friend. But maybe there's something I can do.

Stefano: Your passion much, um--what is the word? Uh...moving. But what you ask I cannot give.

Marlena: You're even more of a coward than I thought. But I should have known that.

Stefano: Well, if you knew so much, why did you come?

Marlena: You know what? Maybe there is something you can do for me.

Eric: Well, that's--that's great news. I feel like an idiot.

Jennifer: No, it was excellent advice, and I'm hoping that I can return the favor.

Eric: Uh, go ahead. What have you got for me?

Jennifer: Well, I have this story and, you know, I think it would be better as a photo essay which is not my area of expertise, so I was hoping you would be available.

Eric: Unemployed and eager.

Jennifer: And I got the budget approved which, um, is really not saying a lot and the hours are just as bad.

Eric: Hey, listen. Long hours and little pay? I mean, I'm used to it.

Jennifer: You're in, okay.

Eric: Okay. This is--this is a great story. I can't say thank you enough.

Jennifer: Oh, my goodness. Please, I'm happy to do it, Eric.

Eric: I mean--I'm so sorry. You know what, you have to get ready for your date tonight. [Chuckles]

Jennifer: Thank you.

Eric: Have fun tonight.

Jennifer: Thank you.

Eric: Okay, I'll see you tomorrow.

Jennifer: I will--yes, yes. Take all the time you need.

Eric: Okay.

Stefano: Go on.

Marlena: Dr. Chyka, the man that Kristen used to drug my son.

Stefano: I'm sure I don't know who you mean.

Marlena: All I wanna do is have a conversation with him. I don't have to see him in person, I don't have to record the conversation, but I have questions I must have answered. And I won't rest until I get those answers.

Stefano: Suppose I did know this person, which, of course I don't.

Marlena: Of course.

Stefano: Now, if you weren't able to clear your son's name...

Marlena: All I want...

Stefano: What would--

Marlena: Is information. Information that could help Eric, but not hurt Kristen.

Stefano: Oh, I see. You wanna talk to him about Nicole.

[Knocks on door]

Jennifer: Nicole?

Nicole: Hi.

Jennifer: Hi.

Nicole: Um, I don't mean to bother you. I just wanted to say, um, thank God you finally came to your senses.

Jordan: I can't do this. I have to go to work.

Ben: Fine. But we're not done. I just got here and I'm not leaving.

Jordan: [Scoffs] I have to go.

Ben: So you said.

Sami: You are so sure that you are gonna find happiness with Jordan?

Rafe: Maybe.

Sami: Okay. So how well do you really know her? She's from where again?

Rafe: Birmingham.

Sami: Alabama?

Rafe: Yeah, mm-hmm.

Sami: She doesn't have an accent.

Rafe: No, no she doesn't.

Sami: Huh. So what's her story? You don't know? I mean, for all you know she could have been a serial killer before she came here.

Rafe: Yeah, yeah, you're right. You know, that's--that's rational. Obviously I can't expect you to be rational. You're going back with EJ. He's just gonna hurt you like he did last time. And the time before that and the time before that.

Sami: You're psychic now.

Rafe: No, I'm just saying that history has a tendency to repeat itself. And you know as well as I do this is gonna end up in a disaster for you, for those beautiful kids of yours. I mean, I wish to hell that it wasn't.

Sami: No, you don't. But you know what, you're wrong. You just--you just don't get it.

Rafe: And I never will. But I do have to go.

Sami: Rafe.

Rafe: Yeah?

Sami: I'm really glad you're okay.

Rafe: Thanks.

Abigail: I know that you've been honest with me about one thing, and this is completely on me because I didn't want to believe that it was true.

EJ: That I love Samantha?

Abigail: I know that you guys were having problems when we got together, and you kept saying that it had to be over and so did I, but I wasn't being honest with you or with myself. See, when--when you told me that you and Sami had worked things out and that she was the one that you wanted to be with, I just couldn't hear it. Because our time together was so special to me...I didn't want it to be about keeping me from going to hope. Or forgetting about Sami. But I know that it wasn't special to you.

EJ: Well, Abigail--

Abigail: I-I did something that I' deeply ashamed of. I-I thought--I thought at least it had to mean something. It had to lead somewhere.

EJ: But you do know now that...

Both: It wasn't.

Abigail: Yes. I do. It's hard for me to, uh, accept that, but I know that it's over because it has to be.

JJ: Excuse me. Are you Russ? I'm JJ Deveraux.

Russ: You're late.

JJ: I'm sorry, I was told to go to the hospital.

Russ: You're gonna be one of those?

JJ: One of those what?

Russ: A dog ate your alarm clock and your GPS sent you to Timbuktu and--

JJ: No.

Russ: Look, I don't need your attitude, kid. Go home. And by the way, you just got an extra day tacked on your service.

JJ: Look, Mr...Russ? I am really sorry, okay? This won't happen again.

Russ: It better not.

JJ: I swear I'm trying to do this right, and I know that it's getting late, but I could at least do an hour today and then I'll make up whatever time I missed.

Russ: Well, lord knows there'll always be plenty of messes that need cleaning up.

JJ: What kind of messes?

Russ: Here's your assignment.

JJ: Erasing graffiti in the Horton town square and cleaning up public toilets? Seriously, uh, don't they pay people to do that?

Russ: Look, they don't pay in jail either.

JJ: Uh, I'm going.

Jennifer: [Chuckles] Nicole, I--

Nicole: Look, I just--I just want you to know that you and Daniel have complete privacy tonight. Okay, you don't have to worry about me.

Jennifer: That is very sweet. Thank you--

Nicole: And know Daniel is the best friend that I've ever had and I am really grateful that you finally understand and I'm being really pushy and I'm gonna go.

Jennifer: No, you're not being pushy. You're--really. I think it's so sweet that there are so many people pulling for us. The pressure's on.

Nicole: Pressure? What pressure? It's gonna be terrific, right?

Jennifer: Yes. Right. I just hate to put you out of your apartment. I--

Nicole: Well, you're not the only one with a date tonight.

Jennifer: Are you going out with Eric?

Marlena: Yes, Stefano, it is about Nicole. I still have some questions for Dr. Chyka.

Stefano: Well, I understand that Jonas and Nicole wanted to help your son.

Marlena: Yes, they actually had Chyka cornered.

Stefano: Mm. It's too bad he went away.

Marlena: Yes, but he escaped on Nicole's watch. Only Nicole. And only he can answer questions that I have about what happened that night.

Abigail: I can see the relief in your eyes. Don't worry, I'm through torturing you.

EJ: Look, Abigail, I know how difficult this must be for you.

Abigail: God, why--why do people say things like that, honestly? EJ, you can't know. You can't.

EJ: Okay. No, you're right. I can't.

Abigail: You're going your way, back to your fiancée and your kids and I'm--I'm going mine.

EJ: You're gonna be fine, Abigail.

Abigail: Yes, eventually, I will be fine. I'll...find a way to start liking myself again and I think I'll be fine. I will move on to the next thing and one thing that I know for sure, I--

EJ: Abigail.

Abigail: I will never be involved again with someone like--well, what I mean to say is--is I will never be involved again with someone that's in your situation. I just needed you to know, EJ, that I-I get it. And you don't have to worry. Like I said before, I won't be causing a scene.

EJ: I wasn't worried. I know that's not who you are.

Abigail: Unfortunately, I think that you have a better handle on that right now than I do.'s time for me to start figuring it out.

Bev: JJ.

Rory: Aw, man, sweet look. Hey, maybe you'll start a trend.

JJ: Shut up, dude.

Rory: I thought you were working at the hospital.

JJ: So did I, but I'm on toilet detail.

Bev: Ugh, seriously?

Rory: Well, when you're done you should take that brush and give it to your boss and tell him to shove it up his--

Russ: Up my what?

Sami: [Shrieks]

EJ: Hello, darling.

Sami: Hey.

EJ: What's going on?

Sami: Um, well, Rafe was here when I got here. Hey, he doesn't need his cane anymore. How about that?

EJ: Wow. Bully for him.

Sami: Once more, with feeling.

EJ: Don't expect me to like the guy.

Sami: He said the same thing about you, basically.

EJ: Mm-hmm, I'm sure he did.

Sami: Actually I should tell you that he also made it clear that he's going to come after you and your father.

EJ: Hmm.

Sami: And then he also said that he's sure that you're gonna end up hurting me.

EJ: He said what? He has no right to say that, Samantha. He's the one who screwed this up in the first place.

Rafe: Hey.

Jordan: What?

Nicole: Yes, me and the priest.

Jennifer: Oh.

Nicole: I guess I have to get used to that look of shock. I'm sure I'll be seeing it a lot.

Jennifer: No, I'm not shocked.

Nicole: Disapproving?

Jennifer: No. I saw Eric earlier. He is the happiest that I have seen him in months. So I say good for you. Good for both of you.

Nicole: Okay, let's not get ahead of ourselves. We just have to see what happens, but thank you for your support.

Jennifer: Likewise.

Nicole: Can you imagine a year ago, us standing here having this conversation, not only not tearing our hair out, but, you know, acting like--

Jennifer: Friends?

Nicole: Yeah.

Jennifer: Life is strange, isn't it?

Nicole: But strange in a-- in a good way. For this week, anyway.

Nicole: Well, we both have somewhere to be, so, um, have fun tonight.

Jennifer: Yes, and you too.

Nicole: Okay. Thanks.

Jennifer: Good-bye.

Nicole: Hey. Thank you, God. Please don't smite me now.

Marlena: Stefano, I'm only asking you to arrange a conversation. It can be on a video phone, it can be on a secure line. Whatever makes you comfortable.

Stefano: Mm, and what question would you ask?

Marlena: Oh, you see, Nicole said that Chyka escaped, taking all the evidence that we needed to help clear Eric's name. But I have only Nicole's word for that.

Stefano: And, of course, you don't believe her.

Marlena: Well, I wonder if possibly she let him escape.

Stefano: And you don't want this evidence back?

Marlena: Well, that would be too much to ask. Stefano, you can be there the whole time to make sure that your interests are protected and I won't ask anything that would hurt Kristen or the doctor.

Stefano: Only possibly Nicole.

Marlena: Yes, Nicole. Will you help me?

Rory: Uh, we'll see you later, dude. Vamanos.

JJ: Hey, he didn't mean--

Russ: I don't have any doubt what he meant. I've sent you hear to work, not hang with your fellow hoodlums.

JJ: I was working.

Russ: No excuses. I'm not interested. And you better not be late tomorrow.

Bev: Hey, are you done yet?

JJ: I guess.

Bev: Look, Rory's really sorry if he got you in trouble.

JJ: It's just one of those days.

Bev: Oh, well, maybe we can do something about that.

Stefano: I appreciate the magnitude of what you're asking.

Marlena: Then you'll help?

Stefano: I may. But I have to think about it. I'll be in touch.

Marlena: Thank you, Stefano.

[Phone rings]

Nicole: Oh, God. He's canceling.

[Knocks on door]

Rafe: Wow. Hey, I'm sorry. I did not mean to startle you.

Jordan: I-I didn't realize it was you.

Rafe: Thought you were gonna slug me.

Jordan: I was just thinking about a case. A million miles away, I guess.

Rafe: Well?

Jordan: Uh, what are you doing here?

Rafe: Well, since I didn't have to go into the station, I figured I'd come down here and fill out my insurance paperwork for the third time.

Jordan: Hope this one will be the charm.

Rafe: Yeah, you and me both, yep. I was also hoping to charm you into going out to dinner with me tonight.

Jordan: I'd love to, but I'm really slammed here today and I'm not sure when I'll get off, so.

Rafe: Okay. Just gimme a call when you can.

Jordan: Well, I don't wanna leave you hanging, so you have a good night, okay? I-I gotta run.

Rafe: Okay.

Sami: I shouldn't have said anything. Look, I get it, but it's not like it really is all Rafe's fault or whatever.

EJ: Samantha, you nearly went to prison for saving this guy's life, okay?

Sami: Yeah, but--

EJ: This--this is how he repays you.

Sami: That wasn't his fault.

EJ: We--

Sami: He was laying there, right?

EJ: We would be married by now if it wasn't for--

Sami: Uh, okay. But we will be married, right? You can't blame Rafe for not being happy with your family after everything, right? I mean--but you are not Kristen, you are not Stefano. Hey, I trust you. And I know you love me, I know you love us, and you're committed to us. I don't have one single doubt.

Abigail: It's going to be okay. Just forget it, Abigail. It's over. It has to be.
