Theresa: Do you like to play games, JJ? I know you tried to set me up. So I had a little chat with the judge. And guess where you're going.
Theresa: This is almost too easy.
Abigail: Aunt Adrienne. What are you doing here?
Adrienne: Oh, I came to see your mom.
Abigail: She's in a meeting.
Adrienne: So I heard. I left a note.
Abigail: Well, I will make sure she gets it.
Adrienne: Good. I have to run.
Abigail: Really? So soon? You don't wanna stay and catch up? Maybe, uh, tail me? Dig up some dirt?
Adrienne: I don't know what you mean.
Abigail: I think you do. I'm talking about the way you spied on me and EJ.
Maggie: Brady, what are you doing?
Brady: Nothing. I was just... what, I mean, do I have to explain every single move I make around here or...
Victor: No one's asking you to.
Brady: [Stammers] But you're watching me. You're sitting around waiting for me to slip up. And I got to be honest, I don't think I could live here anymore.
Kate: Nick. You really need to get it into your brain that Mad World is not mad enough to be dealing with your very special brand of genius.
Nick: Right, well, you know, I've been working very hard, and I'd really--I'd hate to take these million-dollar ideas someplace else.
Kate: Okay, look, look. If you're willing to work on these projects on a freelance basis, I may be able to spare you a lab person.
Nick: You know what? Actually, I already have somebody in mind.
Kate: Okay. You listen to me. You are not in the position to be hiring an assistant.
Nick: Oh-ho-ho. Hey, we were just talking about you. Kate, this is my friend, Percy Ruggles.
Percy: Well, we meet again.
Nick: Well, I'm--I'm sorry. You two know each other?
Maggie: Brady, no one is waiting for you to slip. We just want...
Brady: You want me to go to rehab. And you want me to not drink for the rest of my life, right?
Brady: It's not gonna happen. It's not gonna happen. So before I say something that we're all gonna regret here, I'm gonna free you up from baby-sitting duty. And I'm gonna take this opportunity to prove to you that though I have plenty of problems, drinking...
Brady: Is not one of 'em.
Theresa: You're open until 5:00? Great. And you still carry gift cards? Perfect. And, of course, you're still too cheap to get security cameras, so...
[Knocking on door]
Rory: The eagle has landed.
Bev: Okay, what he's trying to say is that Theresa just called the store.
Rory: And I bet you that she's on her way over there right now.
Theresa: Anne. I thought you were out all day.
Anne: Clearly. Where do you think you're going, little missy?
Adrienne: I wasn't spying.
Abigail: No? What were you doing?
Adrienne: I just happened to run into you and EJ.
Abigail: I didn't see you. Why didn't you come over and say hi to your favorite niece?
Adrienne: I didn't wanna interrupt.
Adrienne: And when your mother expressed concern about your involvement with the DiMeras, I--
Abigail: My--my involvement?
Adrienne: As a mother, I felt she deserved to know what I'd seen.
Abigail: [Laughing] What did you see, Adrienne?
Adrienne: Well, the first time you two were together was at the pub. The second time, you two were poring over a book. And whatever you were discussing, it seemed pretty intense.
Abigail: It was. It was intense. Because we were talking about my dad.
Adrienne: What about him?
Abigail: EJ had a lot of really nice things to say about my father after reading his book.
Adrienne: EJ read Jack's book?
Abigail: Yeah, he did. I don't see what's so strange about that. Plenty of people have read his book.
Adrienne: Yeah, people with taste. EJ doesn't--
Abigail: Excuse me, Adrienne. What do you know about him? Nothing. You don't know anything about him. So why don't you keep an open mind, the way my parents have taught me to? And the next time that you ever have a problem with me or with one of my friends, I suggest that you come to me instead of going behind my back and speaking to my mother. Thanks.
Adrienne: [Sighs] [Sighs]
Percy: Well, we've never been formally introduced.
Nick: Well, this is the woman I was telling you about, obviously. This is Kate Roberts.
Percy: Charmed, I'm sure.
Nick: So now tell me, how did you two cross paths?
Kate: Oh, we've seen each other on several occasions.
Percy: The last time is when I stood in for old saint Nick.
Kate: Ah, yes.
Percy: I even made it into one of the family photos.
Nick: Oh, my gosh. Arianna's first photo with Santa, how sweet.
Kate: Mm. Mr. Ruggles.
Percy: Oh, please, it's Perky to my friends. And to their friends too, of course.
Kate: [Snickers] Of course. Percy, would you mind if I have a moment with Nick?
Percy: Oh, of course not.
Victor: Brady, I think you're doing the right thing.
Brady: You do?
Victor: Yes. But I don't want you to feel that we're watching you all the time. So I have a suggestion. Why don't you move into the corporate suites? That way you'll be able to work away from the office and still have access to the Titan mainframe.
Brady: Assuming you still want me to work for you.
Victor: Of course, I do.
Brady: Thank you. Thank you. For your faith in me. I will not let you down.
Victor: I'll have the suite prepped while you pack.
Brady: Great. Thank you. Excuse me.
Victor: Well, this is working out just perfect. He thinks he's flying under the radar. And if he drinks too much, I'll be the first to know about it.
Maggie: One drink is too much.
Victor: Maggie, I'm not gonna start an intervention if my grandson has a beer. You said it yourself. If he doesn't want help, he's not gonna get it.
Maggie: That's true, but...
Victor: This is all about keeping him safe.
Victor: If we give him some respect and responsibility, maybe he'll feel motivated to earn it.
Theresa: No, I was just stepping out to get some fresh air.
Anne: With your purse? Did you forget you work here, emphasis on "work"?
Theresa: I'm not allowed to take a break?
Anne: Honey, you've been on a perennial break. Come on now, when I hired you there was one item and only one item in your job description: Make Jennifer's life a living hell. Now if you're out at the mall--
Theresa: Oh, no, Anne. You don't even pay me enough to park at the mall, let alone shop.
Anne: [Guffaws] Do the job you were hired to do, and perhaps we can discuss a change in pay grade.
Theresa: Well, maybe if I made a living wage, I wouldn't need to--
Theresa: A million things. Look, I need to, uh, you know, I could follow up on Daniel. He's probably done with his rounds by now. I mean, I laid some extensive groundwork this morning at his apartment.
Anne: Actually, you can't.
Theresa: Why not?
Anne: Dr. Jonas is not here.
Rory: Okay, so this is the part where you say, "Great work, Rory!"
JJ: Great work, Rory.
Rory: Thank you.
Bev: You don't sound too thrilled.
JJ: It's just there's no turning back now. If this doesn't go exactly the way we planned it, I'm going to prison.
Rory: Uh, maybe we should've thought this through a bit better, then.
[Knock on door]
JJ: What if--what if that's her?
Rory: I don't--I think--I told you she's just--
[Knocking on door]
Bev: Uh, not going away, whoever it is. Just go.
JJ: Aunt Adrienne.
Adrienne: [Sighs] Hi.
JJ: These are--these are my friends. This is Bev and Rory.
Adrienne: Hi, Rory. Bev, we've met. The night of the book club. With the doughnuts.
Bev: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Okay, well, we'll let you guys catch up.
JJ: I am--I told you I'm sorry about that, okay? That will never happen again.
Adrienne: No? How would your mom feel knowing that your "friends" were in her house?
JJ: Okay, well, they were here earlier, and she was totally cool about it. You can ask her if you want. Is that why you came by? To see her? Because she's at work.
Adrienne: No, no, actually, JJ, I came to see you. I have a message for you.
JJ: About what?
Adrienne: It's about your sentencing hearing.
Abigail: EJ. What are you doing here?
EJ: I heard what you said to Adrienne.
Sonny: She was down before her head hit the pillow. Gabi, hey.
Gabi: I can't. I'm sorry, I can't.
Sonny: No, you need to pull yourself together. For Ari.
Gabi: I know, I know, okay? I'm just--I'm worried. I'm worried about her. I'm really freaked out, okay? After everything that's happened, how can he ask to be friends? [Sighs]
Sonny: I-I don't know.
Gabi: Look, I told Rafe to try to just let it go. But I'm just--I'm freaked out, okay? I know he can tell. And Will must be too.
Gabi: Why do you say it like that?
Sonny: Because you know Will's not gonna wait around for Nick to make the next move.
Gabi: Oh, my God, what did he do?
Sonny: He went to set Nick straight.
Nick: Game? I-I really don't know what you mean, Kate.
Nick: I have no idea. Starting over in Salem is very, very, very serious to me.
Kate: Uh-huh, okay. So why don't you tell me who this assistant wannabe who moonlighted as Kris Kringle, is?
Nick: Well, he's uniquely suited to the job. He can be a real lifesaver, trust me.
Nick: Can't imagine what he's done for me.
Kate: Why don't you tell me, Nick?
Nick: He's helped me understand what I want to do next with my life. If you talked to Perky at any length, you'd be surprised by-- by what he knows.
Sami: Okay, okay.
Kate: I said turn the--
Sami: I'm trying. Okay, I did not exactly pick the right shoes to...
Kate: Do you want to try 6-inch spikes, Sami? Want to trade off?
Sami: [Grunting fiercely] Oh, my God, you know what, Kate? I do, yeah.
Gabi: I heard something! I think I heard something!
Kate: Over here.
Sami: Oh, my God, okay, okay.
Kate: Turn around.
Sami: [Panting] Oh, God! Give me that. Here.
Victor: Is that all you're taking?
Brady: I'm gonna have the rest of my stuff sent over. I just wanna get out ASAP.
Maggie: [Voice breaking] I love you, Brady. [Sniffles]
Brady: All right, stop, stop. Look at me. I'll be fine. Don't worry.
Brady: [Inhales forcefully] [Exhales] Just a couple days of peace. That's all I need.
Kate: Okay. [Sighs] I did notice that he had a great knowledge of birds.
Nick: Oh, my God. See, I didn't--I didn't even realize that. This guy is, like, full of surprises.
Kate: [Laughs] I know. But I don't understand what that expertise would have to do with cosmetics.
Nick: See, you're not thinking this through, Kate. My expertise is in chemistry, right? You take one totally innocuous substance, you combine it with another one--boom. Good times, right?
Kate: If the lab doesn't blow up. [Laughs]
Nick: It's the same thing with people, isn't it?
Kate: What is?
Nick: Well, they're volatile. They can turn on you at any minute. So if you want me to produce good results, I need to have good personal chemistry with my assistant.
Kate: Oh, Nick. You don't have good personal chemistry with anyone.
Nick: I handpicked Perky for the job. And I can guarantee you that you are gonna feel so much more secure about everything...if you hire him. Likewise, I'm gonna feel better about working for you, knowing that Perky has my back.
Kate: I'll need some time to think about it.
Nick: How much time?
Kate: I'll let you know. By tomorrow at the latest.
Nick: Trust you'll make the right decision, Kate.
Kate: Damn it.
Sonny: It's okay.
Gabi: [Sighs] No, it's not. You know how crazy Nick can get if he feels like someone is putting him in a box.
Sonny: No--no one's doing that.
Gabi: Okay, if Rafe goes over there and gets in his face, and then Will goes over there and gets in his face, he's gonna think that I sent them to fight my battles, that I don't want to be friends, that I want war.
Sonny: Don't you?
Gabi: I--we don't want him to know that. I mean, what if he does remember that we tried to kill him? I'm gonna need him to just--
Sonny: To, what, not hate you? Well, I mean, if he remembers, Gabi, I'm afraid it'll be a little too late for that.
Gabi: This is a--this is a nightmare.
Sonny: Where are you going?
Gabi: I need some air.
Theresa: Daniel's on the surgical schedule today.
Anne: Not anymore. He came in for a few minutes, he dumped his patients on some overworked residents, and split.
Theresa: You don't think that he's with--
Anne: Oh, no. No booty call for Jennifer today. In fact, for some reason, she decided to show up for work today. Actually, I know why she showed up for work today. She called a fundraising meeting so she could hobnob and brown-nose the rich and famous. And obviously I'm not worthy. Put together this gorgeous ensemble for nothing.
Theresa: Do you wanna...
Anne: Anne Milbauer. What? [Sighs] I'll be right there. I take back what I said. Seems I wore my power shoes to impress the candidates for the very important position of cafeteria dishwasher.
Theresa: Ooh. Well, make sure you don't get them wet.
Anne: Know where I'd like to shove these steel heels?
Theresa: [Scoffs] Finally.
JJ: Why do I get the feeling that this isn't good news?
Adrienne: I'm sorry, honey.
JJ: Someone went to the judge, and he's not gonna let me off with probation, is he?
Adrienne: JJ, why would you say that? I have no idea what the judge is gonna do.
JJ: What other bad news can there be? All right, tomorrow is either the first day of the rest of my life or the day that it's all over.
Adrienne: Actually, it might be neither.
Abigail: So you were spying on me chewing out my aunt for spying on me?
EJ: No, no, no, no. No, I was just passing through. My board meeting finished early.
Abigail: Oh, that was fast. Hmm, no wonder you have time to be on the board of every hospital, charity, bowling alley in Salem.
EJ: Just--just one bowling alley, to be fair.
EJ: Thank you for defending me to Adrienne.
Abigail: I wasn't defending you. I was defending myself, actually.
EJ: Well, I can understand why. Adrienne can be a little bit of a, um...
Abigail: A busybody? A know-it-all? A gossip, perhaps?
EJ: I think that just about covers it.
Abigail: Right. I love her, I do. I know she means well, and she's my aunt, but I swear, EJ, sometimes she--
EJ: Sometimes she has a tendency to latch on to things and not let go. Believe me, I know.
Abigail: Yes, I'm sure you do.
EJ: I do hope, though, that she doesn't latch on to the idea that you...
Abigail: That I what?
EJ: That you care about me.
Brady: [Sighs] Hello? [Whistles casually] Let's see. Oh, yeah.
[Knock on door]
Brady: He had me followed. Son of a bitch. Son of a...
[Knock on door]
Adrienne: Justin's been called out of town on urgent business, and unfortunately he won't be back in time for your hearing.
JJ: So I'm supposed to go to court without a lawyer? I'm sure that'll be just great!
Adrienne: Now JJ--JJ, just hear me out, okay? You won't be on your own in court. Now you have two options. Either Justin can request a continuance and have the hearing postponed or--
Adrienne: Or...you can have another lawyer represent you, one I know Justin admires for his work in criminal cases. No, Justin says he's the best.
JJ: No, Uncle Justin is the best. Okay, I really want this to be over, but I don't want anyone else taking my case.
Adrienne: All right, all right, all right. I can see how seriously you're taking this, and that's good. As long as you can stay out of trouble, which...I know you can, you shouldn't have to worry about postponing your hearing.
JJ: I-I'm trying really hard to do the right thing. But I can't control everything and everyone else.
Adrienne: No, you sure can't.
[Cell phone rings]
Abigail: Don't you need to answer that?
EJ: No, you and I are in the middle of a conversation.
Abigail: Yeah, but what if it's an emergency at the bowling alley that you might need to attend to?
EJ: [Sighs] Now why do you have to be sarcastic?
Abigail: I have no idea how your colossal ego can fit into this room? It's astonishing to me. I'm having a private conversation with my Aunt Adrienne, and--
EJ: In the middle of a public hospital.
Abigail: And suddenly it becomes all about you.
EJ: Well, to be fair, the entire conversation was about me. Thank you for your defense. It was very eloquent. But don't feel that you need to talk about me to your aunt. And don't feel you need to spend any more time with my, uh, "colossal ego," if that's what you want.
Abigail: What do you want?
EJ: At the moment, Abigail, I want to make sure that your aunt doesn't go running to your mother. Because if she tells your mother about your impassioned defense, and your mother starts questioning you, in your current state...
Abigail: And what state would that be?
Abigail: I'm not nearly as vulnerable as you might think. If this is--if this is over between us, then, believe me, I can handle it.
EJ: Abigail. "If"?
Adrienne: JJ, the only thing you can control is you.
JJ: I know. And I also know that the longer this thing drags out, the more chance there is that something is gonna screw it up for me.
Adrienne: Like what?
JJ: Anything. I just want this to be done.
Adrienne: I understand.
JJ: And if Uncle Justin trusts this other lawyer...
Adrienne: Listen. Listen to me. Whatever you decide, I'm telling you, I really think it's gonna be okay. Just as long as you don't do anything crazy, sweetheart.
Adrienne: Okay? Take care of yourself.
JJ: I will.
Rory: Can you tell your mom that nobody likes vanilla?
Bev: And yet that's not stopping you from eating it.
Bev: You okay? What happened?
JJ: My uncle can't be at my hearing tomorrow.
Rory: [Mumbling] You mean your uncle your lawyer?
JJ: My aunt said that, you know, I'll be fine if I don't do anything crazy. But she doesn't know that we just set up Theresa...
Rory: Either to get lost or ruin your life.
Bev: Yeah, it's kinda too late to just tell her "Never mind."
JJ: Yeah, no kidding. Which is why this had damn well better work.
Theresa: Where's Daniel?
Brady: He's out of town.
Theresa: What? Why?
Brady: Maybe he needed some time away from you?
Theresa: Aw, you know, I liked you a lot better when you were slurring your words everywhere. Spared me from your razor-sharp wit.
Brady: W-w-wait. Hold on, listen.
Brady: 'Cause there's something I need to say to you.
Sonny: The baby's napping, so you're gonna have to settle for visiting with me.
Abigail: Oh, Sonny, come on. That's not settling. I love spending time with you. Here. I got this before the christening, but I couldn't give it to you because things got a little crazy.
Sonny: Yeah. Here too.
Abigail: How's Gabi doing with Nick being back?
Sonny: Not very well. Have you talked to Nick at all?
Abigail: Yeah, I have. He's acting kinda strange.
Sonny: How could you tell?
Abigail: Nick's my cousin. You know, we've always been really close, but I just feel like there's something that he's not saying. Maybe you know, actually.
Abigail: Yeah. Do you know what happened with Nick and Gabi before he left for New York?
Henderson: Mr. Fallon, uh...
Victor: It's all right, Henderson, I'll take care of this.
Nick: [Puffs] Thank you. Hey.
Victor: Quite a scar you got there. Suits you.
Nick: Thank you.
Victor: I thought you were New York's problem. What the hell do you want?
Nick: I came to see Maggie.
Victor: She's not here. I'll tell her you stopped by. When are you heading back east?
Nick: Oh, I'm not. I've decided to stay here in Salem.
Nick: Well, I'm not gonna run away with my tail between my legs. I'm determined to start my life all over again.
Victor: They were determined to break a record with the Titanic until they hit the iceberg. Didn't work out so well.
Maggie: Nick. It's good to see you!
Nick: You too. Mwah.
Gabi: Did you get my text?
EJ: You mean "texts."
Gabi: Yeah, I wrote to Sami too. Where is she?
EJ: She's in Chicago. What's so urgent? You can speak plainly. My father's not here. What is the problem?
Kate: Nick. He knows everything.
Rory: So Theresa hasn't shown up at the store yet.
Bev: And her work phone went straight to voice mail.
JJ: Great, great. That envelope could be in a pile of work she hasn't touched since Halloween. And then, you know, she could have been a good employee and returned the check to Abigail.
Rory: What are the odds?
JJ: Or maybe she found out that I'm the one who sent her the check. And now it's all over.
Rory: Okay, chill, man.
JJ: No, I can't, because this is my life that we're talking about!
Brady: Why don't you have a seat?
Theresa: Because I don't have all day, all right? I have stuff to do.
Brady: I'm sure you do. Listen, this isn't gonna take long. I wanted to say thank you. For getting me back from the meeting yesterday. I know you called Daniel.
Theresa: Who called Maggie, who probably freaked out on you, and now you wanna freak out on me.
Brady: Actually, you did me a favor. Maggie's no longer my sponsor. And I left the program.
Theresa: No regrets?
Brady: Not one. It's just not my thing.
Theresa: I can respect that. So what did Daniel have to say about it?
Brady: He doesn't know.
Theresa: Then why are you here?
Brady: I'm escaping judgment from people who think they know better. I'll bet you understand what I mean.
Nick: I was just telling Victor that I wanna stay in Salem. To prove myself.
Maggie: I thought that's why you were going to New York. But wait a minute-- not that I'm not thrilled to see you again.
Nick: You know, I told myself that I was looking to make a fresh start. But really all I was doing was running away.
Victor: Not always such a bad thing.
Maggie: [Scoffs] Now that you're back, you are gonna continue getting the help that you need, though, because that takes courage too.
Nick: Yes, yes. I found the perfect person to talk to, and I am so grateful for all of your support. And Julie's. She seemed really happy to see me.
Victor: [Chuckles] Figures.
Maggie: Everyone deserves a second chance. Or as many as it takes.
Maggie: So now that you are here, do you have any idea what you're gonna be doing with yourself now that you're back?
Sonny: I'm, uh, not sure what happened between Gabi and Nick. Why do you ask?
Abigail: I just have a feeling.
Sonny: Oh. Did you talk to Gabi?
Abigail: I did, yeah. And actually what she said didn't totally make sense. But, you know, if you and Will don't know anything, then...
Sonny: Yeah, I mean, I can't speak for him, but, uh...
Abigail: But you guys tell each other everything, right?
Sonny: We do, we do. Speaking of, my beautiful cousin, what's the deal with you and this guy?
Gabi: Wait. Wh--what? Oh, my God, Kate. Wait, he knows?
EJ: What exactly did Nick say?
Kate: Well, he didn't say anything straightaway. But when he asked me for a job, he said he thought he had the right to choose his own assistant. And then "Mr. Greetings" showed up.
Kate: The bird watcher. Santa Claus.
Gabi: I knew it. I knew he knew. I knew it.
EJ: And then he threatened you?
Kate: Well, not in so many words.
EJ: Well, okay, what exactly were his words, Kate? Did he, for example, say, "I know that you and Gabi and Samantha tried to murder me"?
Nick: You know, I've--I've put some feelers out. I presented a proposal to Kate, and I feel really good about it.
Victor: Can't imagine that she does.
Maggie: Kate is very pragmatic when it comes to business. She appreciates your talent. I hope it works out for both of you.
Nick: Thank you.
Maggie: So, in the meantime, where are you staying?
Nick: Well, uh, miracle of miracles, my old apartment is actually open, so everything's just been falling into place so beautifully.
Maggie: Oh, that's wonderful. Okay, well, if there's anything you need...
Nick: Thank you.
Maggie: Okay, I've got to get to an appointment.
Nick: Don't worry about it. I'll be in touch.
Maggie: Okay, good luck.
Victor: Now you and I both know that we make our own luck, good and bad. You only seem capable of the latter. Not only for yourself, but all the people around you who you claim to care about.
Nick: I guess we'll find out if that's true.
Brady: Why don't you stay awhile?
Theresa: Because we hate each other's guts?
Brady: You could take a break from all the hard work you're doing over at the hospital.
Theresa: That's tempting.
Brady: I also know a couple things about Daniel... that you might be very interested to hear.
Theresa: Mm, maybe I could stay a few minutes.
JJ: We need to find Theresa.
Rory: And do what, dude?
JJ: I need to know what she's up to!
Bev: Okay, hold on, look. We can't exactly ask her, JJ. All we can do is just wait.
Brady: Well, you're not gonna let me drink alone, are you? [Sniffs] 'Cause we both know what that would mean. Cheers.
Rory: You know what you need to help you chill? It would help the time pass.
Theresa: Look, I couldn't.
Brady: Theresa. I did the program for a couple years and hated every minute of it. You did it for, what, a couple minutes? And hated it just as much as I did. Don't worry about it. I'm not gonna tell your sponsor. I'm not gonna tell anyone. It's nobody's business but yours.
JJ: I can't, man.
Rory: Dude, no one will know.
JJ: I get a drug test, I go to prison for the next decade!
Rory: Medicinal purposes, JJ. If you don't take the edge off, you will lose it.
Brady: Come on. Live a little.
Rory: Come on, JJ. Just one hit.
Abigail: Why would Will tell you about that?
Sonny: Uh, like you said, we tell each other everything.
Abigail: Hmm, it's funny, it's so not a big thing, so...
Sonny: Yeah, is that why you turned 50 shades of red when I brought it up?
Abigail: Can we just change the subject, please?
Sonny: Fine. But can you just let--what's his name? What's his name? It'll be a secret between you, me, and Will.
Abigail: There's no one, Sonny, okay? I-I've already forgotten about him.
Kate: [Sighs] Well, he didn't come out and say that he remembered Gabi bashing him over the head with a rock or the three of us dropping him in the river and leaving him to drown.
Gabi: What about "Mr. Greetings"? What did he say?
EJ: Would you please stop calling him that? It sounds ridiculous.
Kate: Okay, his name is Perky. Percy Ruggles.
EJ: Oh, great, that's even worse.
Kate: Okay, well, whatever you wanna call him, he didn't mention anything about the day in the woods either.
EJ: Well... looks like you were the mouse, my dear, and Nick is the cat.
Gabi: W-well, what does that make me?
EJ: Told you, you should've listened to me.
Kate: Oh, my God. I just hate it when you're right.
EJ: See, now it's not just your word against his, because Mr. Fallon...he has a witness.
Percy: Cathartes aura. Turkey vulture. Very rare for this area this time of year. But then I've seen all sorts of strange birds lately.
Nick: [Laughs] I think once Kate's had time to consider my proposition... you're gonna have a lot less time for bird-watching.
Percy: Quite all right. [Sniffs] I very much look forward to our working together.
Kate: What if... what if Nick doesn't know what happened? And Perky does. And he joined forces with Nick just to blackmail me?
EJ: Let me stop you right there. Nick Fallon knows exactly what he's doing. And he's playing a very dangerous game.
Kate: Okay. So what are we gonna do?
EJ: We play along.
Kate: For how long?
EJ: Until Nick shows his hand. Or we tire of playing. And then we decide exactly how to end the game.
