Episode #12200 ~ Jennifer believes Daniel slept with Theresa; JJ makes an unexpected decision.
Provided By Suzanne
Daniel: Well, it's lucky I did know where Theresa lived or she'd probably be dead.
Jennifer: Yes, of course, it was lucky. I just don't understand what you were doing there in the first place.
Daniel: I, uh... I was just there.
Jordan: Well, here we go.
Rafe: [Sighs] Thanks for bending the rules for me.
Jordan: Well, I am still on the clock, and so are you. The real world offers challenges that I can't recreate in the physical therapy room.
Rafe: Should have known.
Jordan: But why here? Why were you so set on the...
Caroline: Rafe Hernandez! Oh! Where have you been all my life!
Rafe: Oh, there's the reason.
Rafe: Come here, you.
Caroline: Mwah! Mwah!
Kate: Jordan Ridgeway. That's right. No. No one is 100% squeaky clean, that's impossible. Okay, look. I am paying you a lot of money to ask the right questions, so I suggest that you rethink your approach and dig deeper. [Sighs] Nick! Thank you for meeting me.
Nick: What did you want to see me about, Kate?
Kate: Have a seat.
Nick: Why don't you first tell me what this is about?
Kate: Your future.
Gabi: Oh, hi. Cameron? You must be really out of it. Are you okay?
Jennifer: You were just at Theresa's? What exactly does that mean?
Anne: So I just heard the news about Theresa. What? She O.D.'d on a sex drug?
Jennifer: Will you shut up, please? I mean, did Theresa call you for help? [Stammers] And if she did, why? But she had to, right? 'Cause what other reason would you have to be at Theresa's apartment so late at night?
Daniel: Jenn... it doesn't matter what time it was or why I was there. What's important is--
Jennifer: It matters to me.
Hope: Whoa, whoa, wait a second. When I was at Theresa's, she said she had some guy over, a biker--it doesn't matter. But I thought she was saying "Manny boy." But I was wrong. It was "Danny boy."
Jennifer: Was that you? Were you hiding in the bathroom?
Daniel: Theresa was on her phone, leaving a message for me.
Theresa: Hello, Mr. Voice mail. [Sing-song] It's me. Did anyone ever tell you you have a really sexy voice? I bet you they have. You have great eyes too. Theresa: If you wanna come over, I'll give you another chance. [Sharp] Are you listening to me?
Jennifer: So she asked you to come over, and you did?
Daniel: I, uh... I was there. Yeah. What?
Anne: This raises a lot of questions, Dr. Jonas, as you can imagine.
Daniel: Get out of my way.
Anne: You have access to prescription drugs here. Who knows? Maybe that girl was on something other than just her ghb. If you abused that access...
Daniel: Okay, I highly doubt you'll find any prescribed medications in her tox screen, and you can drug test me immediately.
Anne: Great, I'll make arrangements.
Daniel: Fine. Go to hell when you're done.
Caroline: I came to visit you at the hospital, but there was so much going on, I-I wasn't sure you wanted to see me.
Rafe: Oh, please. None of that had anything to do with you and me.
Caroline: Oh, I'm glad to hear that.
Rafe: Are you kidding? Who else knows how to cook my burger just right besides you?
Rafe: Not gonna risk ruining that relationship.
Caroline: No. Well, now that Sami's problems seem to be resolved, and she's moving on, I'm relieved to see you've done the same. 'Cause no one deserves happiness more than you, Rafe.
Jordan: Oh, that's not what-- this is not what it, um... Rafe.
Kate: The project that you did for mad world was very successful, made the company a lot of money. And I thought you should share in the wealth.
Nick: Oh, my God. Wow. Kate, thank you very, very much.
Kate: No problem. I also have a proposition for you. Have a seat.
Kate: I'd like to have you come back to work for me. Full-time.
Nick: It's not possible.
Kate: What do you mean?
Nick: Honestly, if the timing were different, I would jump at this opportunity, trust me. But I-I have a plan, and I've been working very hard to make it happen. And if it does... I'm gonna be leaving Salem.
Cameron: Ga--I'm fine, Gabi. I'm just--I'm just thinking about a patient.
Gabi: Can you talk about it?
Abigail: Chad told me the truth. That he let you think that he was dying, and that--
Cameron: And that's good. Good, I'm glad he was finally honest with you.
Cameron: Wait, I hope you understand, I couldn't say anything because of doctor-patient confidenti--
Cameron: You know... [Sighs] When you do something, and you mean--you mean well, but it backfires on you...
Gabi: Nope, that never happens to me.
Cameron: I-I handled something incredibly poorly.
Gabi: Yeah, but you can learn something from that, right? I mean, everybody screws up every once in a while.
Cameron: Yeah, but this was a colossal screw up, Gabi.
Gabi: As colossal as getting pregnant with your best friend, who's gay? I think I win. And now, you know, I don't think about it as a screw-up, because a beautiful little girl came out of it. And sometimes what you think is a mistake is actually a blessing.
Cameron: Yeah, you're right. Sometimes it is.
Gabi: You know...I'm gonna go get some coffee. Do you wanna come with me?
Cameron: I'd like that. Yeah.
[Monitor beeping steadily]
Karin: Oh, my God. Theresa?
It's a good thing Dr. Jonas was there.
Yeah, super convenient that he was making a house call. For an OD?
Maggie: Oh, Jennifer. Honey, I am so sorry.
Hope: Jenn, I was thinking that maybe you should spend the night with me and Ciara. What do you think? I don't want you to be alone.
Jennifer: No, I'm gonna be fine. I'm gonna focus on my son, because that is what matters now. I mean, it just doesn't make sense, Daniel's explanation, it can't be true.
Hope: What do you mean?
Jennifer: He would never leave parker at night. And Joanna doesn't work this late, so something is off. Something--
Maggie: Oh, no, Jenn, wait a minute. Parker is with Chloe for a few days.
Jennifer: Okay, so he was home alone and he had nothing to do. So the first thing he thinks of doing is going to Theresa's apartment? So he had a chance, and he took full advantage of it?
Jordan: I'm not--Rafe is my-- I'm his physical therapist.
Caroline: Oh, that's too bad.
Rafe: Jordan Ridgeway, Caroline Brady.
Jordan: Oh, it's very nice to meet you.
Caroline: Nice to meet you, yes.
Jordan: Rafe had one place he wanted to go on his furlough tonight, and this was it.
Rafe: Well, that's right. And she is really good at what she does, so next time you see me, I will be walking in here, because she busts my butt.
Caroline: Oh, how very nice.
Caroline: Well, is your husband in the medical field as well?
Jordan: I'm not married.
Caroline: Oh. Well, that's lovely. Uh, the usual, with a draught? Can he have a cold one?
Rafe: Yeah, one. I've been warned.
Caroline: Well, what can I get you, dear?
Jordan: Ginger ale.
Caroline: All right. You know, the next time you two come in, you're gonna have that rare Irish champagne for special occasions.
Caroline: Okay, I'll be right back.
Jordan: Irish champagne?
Jordan: Got it.
Rafe: Yeah. Wow, that really threw you before, didn't it, Caroline thinking that we were together?
Jordan: I was not thrown.
Rafe: You were thrown. And does the idea of someone assuming that we're together really terrify you that much?
Kate: Well, um, I can't really say I'm surprised that you would wanna leave Salem after everything that happened to you here. And despite our differences, which mainly centered around your treatment of my grandson, I-I do wish you good luck. You're very talented.
Nick: Thank you.
Kate: Hmm. Although I don't know if I would be quite this forgiving if will hadn't rebounded so well with Sonny and Gabi. The three of them are doing such a great job raising that baby.
Nick: Yeah, yeah. I-I'm glad for all of them.
Kate: Good. That's really good. And then will has this fantastic opportunity, with the fellowship to the writing program at Berkeley, I mean, it's just all coming together for him. So that's great. Anyway, when are you leaving? Do you know?
Nick: Well, I--kinda depends. I gotta weigh the different options and opportunities, and we'll see how everything pans out.
Kate: Good for you.
Nick: Yeah. Basically comes down to, where is gonna be the perfect place to start a new life?
Kate: Well, you can start a new life anywhere, Nick.
Nick: Anywhere but here. Look, I'm developing something that I think you and your company will be very interested in. I'll be in touch.
Kate: Okay, I look forward to that. Thank you.
Kate: All right, so good luck. You know, there is something else I'd like to say to you, and I'm not saying this lightly. I think you're one of the brightest people I've ever met, and I think doing something big, pursuing a dream, outside of Salem, is the very best thing for you... and for everyone else. Good luck.
Nick: Thanks. Hmm. Not sure you're gonna feel that way if this pans out the way I want it to.
Gabi: So basically, I got all full of myself and decided to take an intro biology class my freshman year. And, of course, first day, we're given frogs, and the first thing we all do is name our frogs, and I decided to name mine "Kermit." Which wasn't original, because half the class decided to name it that. And once we got that out of the way, we had to dissect them. Those frogs were so cute, and I just couldn't really handle it, so I kind of just misplaced mine.
Cameron: Wait, no. How did you manage that?
Gabi: I plead the fifth. [Laughs]
Cameron: Okay, all right.
Gabi: The point is that I'm never gonna be joining you in the O.R., So you and the medical profession are safe.
Cameron: Well, you know what? Anyone who starts out by saying that they're gonna be a doctor struggles a lot. And then you hit this point where you click in. And if you click out, you're done. But if you carry on and you click in... you can't imagine doing anything else, you know? And then you're in this wonderful position where you get to help people every single day of your life.
Gabi: That's better.
Cameron: What is?
Gabi: Well, you're a lot calmer and more positive than you were when I bumped into you.
Cameron: Well, you know, there's a kind of medicine that you give a person to make them feel better. And then there's this kind of medicine that you're dispensing tonight that seems to do the same trick.
Gabi: Yeah, that's probably the caffeine kicking in.
Cameron: [Laughs] No, but seriously, Gabi. You don't have to be a doctor or know your way around the inside of a frog just to make people feel better.
Gabi: That's actually kinda gross...
Gabi: But sweet.
Anne: So sad, huh?
Karin: Yeah. Very.
Anne: Hey, you. You had me scared out of my wits when they wheeled you in here. But, um... the doctors say you are gonna be okay. [Sighs] Poor baby. Listen, I I don't know what you did, but you'll be really glad to know when you--when you wake up, that your plan to torment Jennifer totally worked. [Laughs] Oh, I just wish you could have seen her face when she put two and two together about you and world-renowned chick magnet Daniel Jonas. It was... I mean, honestly, Theresa, it was as if the good doctor literally stabbed her in the back. [Laughs] It was priceless. [Sniffles] So you rest well, my sweet friend. And while you do... I will take every chance I can to twist that knife.
Daniel: You shouldn't be here.
JJ: I had to make sure Theresa was okay.
Daniel: She is, now go. No one can see you here. JJ, it is written all over your face that you were a part of this. Now if you want me to keep covering for you, not being seen with me is basically priority one.
JJ: Yeah, but what about when she wakes up, man? What if she says something?
Daniel: Shh, I'll handle it.
JJ: Well, how, dude?
Daniel: Okay, listen, it is not your problem. But I will say this for the last time, so listen up.
Daniel: No one else should know that you were at Theresa's place tonight, got it? If the court finds out, that judge will send you straight to prison, he won't look back. Is that sinking in at all?
JJ: I thought you said that I had to go.
Daniel: I just need to know, do you have any drugs on you? Okay, you need to lose 'em. Now. We'll talk more in the morning, somehow. I don't know exactly how. And I will repeat this. No one else should know about it.
[Knock on door]
Jennifer: Daniel, it's me. We need to talk. And I am not leaving until I get some answers.
[Cell phone rings]
Cameron: Excuse me a second.
Gabi: Yeah, another reason I could never be a doctor. You have to be on call 24/7. I couldn't handle that.
Cameron: Well, you are a mom now, so that's practically the same thing.
Gabi: Yes, you're right. It was good to spend time with you.
Cameron: It was. And you know that frog that you liberated--was it--it's Kermit, right?
Cameron: He was lucky. Bye.
Nick: Dr. Davis.
Nick: [Laughing] Hey.
Nick: How are you doin'?
Gabi: I was actually just gonna go.
Nick: Well, how's Arianna?
Gabi: She's great, she's great.
Nick: Oh, my God. I'll bet she's grown so much since I've seen her, I probably wouldn't even recognize her. Do you have any pictures on your phone? You probably do. Like, recent pictures? I would love to see some, if you have any. Do you mind?
Gabi: Um, sure. Uh...
Nick: Let me see. Oh, my God. Look at that smile. She's totally got your smile. She's beautiful.
Gabi: She's covered in strained carrots.
Jordan: You have a way with words--the wrong ones.
Rafe: Oh, really? How so?
Jordan: I was hardly terrified that your friend thought we were...whatever.
Jordan: I'm your physical therapist, period.
Rafe: Oh, well, that's too bad.
Rafe: Oh, nothing. I just thought maybe we were becoming friends too.
Caroline: Here you are. Here, dear, and you.
Jordan: All right, where do you wanna sit?
Rafe: That chair right there.
Caroline: Oh, okay.
Jordan: You can just stay in--
Rafe: A friendly bet.
Rafe: I get into that chair on my own, you buy me a beer. I need your help, I buy you one.
Jordan: Why don't we just... wait... [Sighs]
Caroline: Oh! My God, that's great. You used your legs!
Rafe: Uh, a little. Getting there. Slowly.
Jordan: He sustained considerable nerve damage to his legs, not to mention his muscles atrophied while he was in a coma. So regaining strength and mobility is challenging, but he's getting there, as long as he doesn't overdo it.
Caroline: [Clears throat] The serious type.
Rafe: Yeah, well... she's not as serious as she'd like you to believe.
Daniel: [Mouthing] I'm on my way out to check on Theresa's condition.
Jennifer: Okay. But I do think that we need to--
Daniel: Nothing left to say. It's clear to you and everybody else what's going on, but... let's leave it at that.
Jennifer: Daniel. Daniel, do not walk away from me after everything that we have been through. And you may not believe this, but I think that you owe me an explanation.
Nick: Oh, my God. Look at that one. She's way too cute.
Gabi: Yeah, I cannot believe I'm that mom.
Nick: What mom?
Gabi: Oh, you know, those moms that, you know, take pictures of their kids and show 'em to anybody that looks.
Nick: What? I'm not anyone.
Gabi: No! I know. I'm just--she's a cutie, that's all.
Nick: Yeah. You're a good mother. I always knew that you would be. And Arianna should be your first priority, you know?
Gabi: Yeah, thank you, she is. It's just a lot of work. Harder than I ever expected. But I'm glad I have will and Sonny there to help me. I don't know how the single moms do it with no backup.
Nick: Yeah, well, we always knew that will was gonna be a hands-on dad, and Sonny would be around too, obviously.
Gabi: They're great, really great.
Nick: Uh, I saw Kate! She was bragging about will got into some writing seminar in California?
Gabi: Yeah, she should be bragging. It's a really prestigious program, and it's an amazing opportunity that he's got.
Nick: Yeah, well, he must be a great writer.
Gabi: He is, he is. And the best part is, he wasn't even looking for this. I mean, somebody submitted, you know, just a sample of his work, and he got chosen.
Gabi: Yeah, super cool.
Nick: Huh. You know, I think sometimes it takes someone else to see your potential, to make sure that you get the opportunities you deserve.
Gabi: Yeah, I guess you're right.
Nick: No, and I'm glad that will is able to pursue the life that he wants, even with all of his other responsibilities. I just--I hope that you get that same opportunity.
[Cell phone rings]
Kate: Hi, hi, Jordan. How are you doing? It's so funny, I almost didn't recognize you outside of your PT room.
Rafe: You mean "torture chamber."
Jordan: Oh, excuse me. It's the hospital. Sorry.
Kate: Sure. So...
Rafe: I'd get you a beer, but it'd probably be warm by the time I got back.
Kate: No, no, no. That's okay, I'll get one. You stay right here.
Rafe: Don't worry.
Kate: [Laughs] Hi! Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd like a cold beer.
Caroline: Mm-hmm. Okay. I'm surprised to see you and Rafe together.
Kate: Well, I know that you're having problems with your memory. Rafe and I are good friends. Very good friends. We're close.
Caroline: Believe me, sweetie. It wasn't the Alzheimer's that put that out of my mind.
Jordan: Someone's asking questions? What kind of questions?
Jennifer: You know that I have been worried out of my mind over JJ, and you do this?
Maggie: Honey, please.
Hope: I think maybe we should go somewhere to talk.
Jennifer: No, I wanna talk to Daniel, but I guess he doesn't think I deserve his precious time and attention. I get it. We're done, we're over. That's clear, crystal clear. I did it. I made the choice. And to think for one minute that I actually regretted it-- oh, no, we are done. We are so done. Which means, yes, you can see whomever you please, but seriously, Theresa? Theresa! This woman hates me. She spends every single day of her life trying to destroy my son!
Maggie: Jennifer, don't do this, not here.
Jennifer: Oh, what, aunt Maggie? Is there a better place we can do this? I mean, seriously, out of all the women in this town--for the world--all the women in the world! You choose Theresa? I mean, I've heard all the gossip and all the rumors. But you know what? I didn't even give it a second thought, because I thought, "this is insane. It's completely impossible." I know how many women in this hospital would love to go out with you, Daniel. But the one that I have told you that I despise, that I hate, that I can't even bear, you zero in on her, really? And knowing full well how I feel, you chose her. And you know why? Because you want to hurt me. You want to intentionally hurt me. Is it that bad, really? Do you hate me that much?
Bev: JJ. Where have you been? Everybody is looking for you. Are you okay?
JJ: No, I'm not.
JJ: There's just something that I have to do.
Jordan: It must just be some routine inquiry. I mean, it's not like I have anything to hide. Thank you for letting me know.
Kate: It's really good to see you out of the hospital.
Rafe: Well, thank you. Feels really good to be out. Even if it is just for a burger and a beer. I know the day's coming when I... will get my life back. I can't wait to get out of that place. Out of that bed. Out of that chair. Just want my life back the way it was before this all went down.
Kate: Well, you're back. How nice. But the ice is all melted in your drink. Watery ginger ale can't be very good, can it?
Jordan: It's just the way I like it.
Gabi: You know, if you'd asked me where I'd be at this point in my life, I would have never said something like this. You know, I'm happy. Honestly, at first, I was terrified, but now I'm--I'm in love.
Nick: With Arianna.
Gabi: Yeah, with Arianna.
Nick: Right. But I mean, before--before you were pregnant, you--you had dreams of your own.
Gabi: What, modeling? Yeah, , no, no, no. That dream was totally shut down before I even started wearing maternity pants. I did that to myself. I mean, realistically, that was never gonna happen.
Nick: What? Gabi! That is so not true. If this can happen for will with his writing, then it can happen for you with modeling. Believe me.
Gabi: That is very sweet of you to say.
Nick: Well, I believe in you.
Gabi: Yes, you always have, even when I haven't even believed in myself. I said I was gonna go, and I'm still sitting here.
Gabi: So thank you for humoring me with the photos.
Nick: Oh, please, come on. You know I love hearing about Arianna and seeing pictures of her. That'll--that'll never change.
Gabi: Well, I'm glad you still feel the same way about her. I mean, even after everything that we've been through, I wouldn't blame you if you never wanted to talk to me or my baby ever again.
Nick: No. No, no, no. That's not me.
Gabi: No, it's not. Okay, well, I'll see you.
JJ: Mom. I'm so sorry... and I'm home. Hi there. sweet eyes and go to sleep, what are you gonna be dreaming about, huh? [Clucks tongue] I wish I knew. Speaking of dreams, Nick thinks that just because your daddy's dreams are coming true, that same thing's gonna happen for mommy. But what he doesn't understand is that I already have my miracle. And that's you. I couldn't wish for more.
Nick: "Thank you for your interest. I appreciate your offer. I'll let you know my decision as soon as circumstances here allow. Respectfully... Nick Fallon." [Taps key] Send. I could feel our connection today, Gabi. You... and me and Arianna... are gonna build a new life together. And nothing and no one... is gonna get in the way of that.
Rafe: [Sighs] How about another beer? Oh, come on. A half-pint.
Jordan: Half is fine by me.
Rafe: Yeah! Kate? Want another one?
Rafe: Well, all right. I'll be back in a flash. Yeah.
Kate: Things are working out between the two of us. That's nice. I'm really pleased.
Jordan: Yes, I am too.
She was lucky. The attending said she should be awake by morning.
Daniel: Good. I want to be contacted the minute she wakes up.
I'm sure you do, doctor.
JJ: I... thought about everything tonight... and I realized that I was so, so wrong... about a lot of things. Mostly everything, really. [Sighs] I've been hurting you... Abigail too, and myself. The thing is, mom, is that... I've been really messed up since dad died... and I've been using that as some stupid excuse to just--to get away with stuff and to take chances. But I'm not that stupid, even though I acted that way for a long time. So I am done dealing. I am done acting out. Because I don't wanna hurt anybody anymore.
Maggie: I don't understand. I just don't understand, Daniel.
Daniel: It's not your problem or your business.
Hope: What are you doing? What--what are you doing? Why aren't you explaining yourself to Jennifer, to your mom, to any of us?
Daniel: Hope, you need to stay out of this too.
Hope: This doesn't make any sense, Daniel. Why aren't you explaining it?
Daniel: I went to Theresa's. I found she'd O.D.'d. I got her help. End of story.
Hope: You just want this to go away.
Daniel: And it will.
Hope: Anne's not gonna let this go away. Even if criminal cause can't be found, she's not gonna let it disappear.
Maggie: Oh, God.
Hope: And that doesn't even get into what this means for Jennifer.
Daniel: You can think what you want, but I'm done talking about it.
Maggie: [Clears throat]
JJ: I love you, Mom.
Jennifer: You know what? It's gonna be okay. Really, it's gonna be okay now, because you're here, and you're in your home... [Sniffles] And we're together. It's me, you, and your sister. And you know what? We have each other. And that is all that matters, okay? I love you, baby. [Sniffles]
