Episode #12194 ~ Jennifer attacks Theresa; Sami & EJ talk about their future; Kate decides to look into Jordan's past.
Provided By Suzanne
Chad: You have to understand. The only reason I let you keep thinking I had the brain tumor you diagnosed was because--
Cameron: Was because you wanted Abigail... and you wanted to keep me the hell out of your way.
Chad: You told Abigail, didn't you?
Abigail: Told me what?
Chad: Oh, it's--it's nothing. We were... just talking about my recuperation, and now that it's at my father's house--
Cameron: She's--she's going to find out eventually, Chad. It might as well be now.
EJ: Since when did anyone or anything stop Samantha Brady from getting what she wants? [Chuckles] I mean, unless you're just trying to find a way to say that you don't want to marry me.
Sami: I don't know, EJ. I don't know what I want.
Jordan: You can take a break, Rafe.
Rafe: [Breathing heavily]
Jordan: All right. How are you doing?
Jordan: You made it. Why are you upset?
Rafe: 'Cause Chad DiMera getting shot was my fault.
Jordan: That can't be true.
Rafe: It was a chain reaction, and it started with me.
Jordan: Hey, I won't let you talk like that.
Theresa: Hi. Oh, this place is just so much better than that awful cafeteria.
Karin: Yeah, I bet you can get a great burger here.
Theresa: Known for it. Wow. It just feels so good to sit down. I mean, this bag is just so heavy.
Karin: I would love some decent fries. Ooh, milkshakes.
Theresa: Oh, oh!
Karin: What is this?
Theresa: It--it's nothing. You weren't even supposed to see that.
Daniel: You will have two sleeps. And we'll face-time before bed both nights, okay?
Daniel: Okay? Yes? You ready?
Daniel: You ready--uh-oh. I think that's your mom. Look out! Get out of the way!
Daniel: Get out of the way.
Maggie: Hi. I couldn't wait. I have such great news about JJ.
Jennifer: JJ, you are not going anywhere. This is not a debate.
JJ: Mom, if you think that I'm gonna start listening to you because of what the judge said, think again.
Theresa: Karin, give that to me, please. I mean, that wasn't even supposed to be in there with everything else.
Karin: What is all this, anyway? Why do you have this picture? Why is the frame broken?
Theresa: It's nothing, really. I was just gonna drop this bag of clothes off at the charity bin at the hospital after our lunch... for--for a friend.
Karin: This friend-- Dr. Jonas?
Theresa: You are making dumb assumptions.
Karin: You are sleeping with him, aren't you?
Theresa: Oh, my God, lower you voice.
Daniel: Thank you for coming by, but Justin already, uh, called, told me about JJ's plea deal.
Maggie: Well, it's good news for Jenn.
Daniel: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Hope, uh--hope he lives up to the terms.
Maggie: The terms seem pretty fair. And--and you know what? It makes him move back home. I know that Jennifer will do anything to help turn this around for JJ.
Daniel: Yes, I'm sure she will... 'cause you never give up on your kid... never.
Jennifer: I watched you while the judge was making his ruling in your case, JJ. It is not possible that you weren't listening or you didn't understand what is at stake.
JJ: Of course, I was listening. Of course I understand. The judge was very clear. Thank you. This is my last chance. I get it. But that doesn't mean I have to listen to you. Whether they go to the next page... to be a new start for you, JJ-- for us.
JJ: You want to know when I got my new start, Mom? When I heard the truth about dad and realized that you didn't think it was worth it to fill me in on it.
Jennifer: That is not what this is about.
JJ: Seriously, mom? Why don't you be real with me for once? Did you actually think it was okay to pretend like we're this loving, picture-perfect family?
Jennifer: JJ, I think that we can be if we're honest and we talk things out.
JJ: Honest? Oh, you mean the way you sell honesty.
Jennifer: I was... I was trying to protect you.
JJ: Protect me from what-- e truth?
Jennifer: No, from the pain--the same pain that you are feeling right now.
JJ: [Laughs] This is unreal.
Jennifer: What? What is unreal, JJ, that I love you, that I care about who you are?
JJ: Oh, who am I, mom? You think you know? Because you don't. Why don't you do me a favor, okay? I won't pretend you're something you're not. Please do the same for me.
Jennifer: Okay, well, according to you, I'm ignorant. So why don't you enlighten me and tell me who you are?
Cameron: The truth is, Abigail, just before you got here, I was telling Chad just how close he came to not pulling through. He deserves the truth. I would want it if I was him. And I'm sure you would too.
Chad: Yeah. Yeah, that's--that's why I-I was so upset. I didn't want Cameron to tell you and get you all worked up for nothing, since I did pull through and I'm okay now.
Abigail: Chad... don't worry about me so much, okay? But, Cameron, does he really have to hear that all right now? I mean, he just woke up.
Chad: No, I wanted to know.
Abigail: Okay. All right, let's just move on.
Abigail: I mean, the only thing that matters now is how you're doing from here on out. We really need to focus on your recovery, right?
Abigail: Good. I still feel like there's something you guys aren't telling me.
Jordan: I'm serious. Why would you say something like at, Rafe? How could you think you could have possibly stopped Chad DiMera's shooting?
Rafe: It's complicated.
Jordan: Well... I'm pretty quick. Try me.
Rafe: Well... it goes back to the affair I had with Kate DiMera, if you want to know the truth. I mean, not that it was her fault. It's just... what we did--it set a lot of different things in motion. Look, the bottom line is this-- Chad DiMera was shot, almost died. Marge Bernardi--her life's ruined. And her son-- [Scoffs] His father's dead, his mom's in jail, and it all ties back to me.
Jordan: I don't see it. But you're very empathetic. I guess that's just your way. But we are here to work, not talk, so get up and do a lap back.
EJ: Samantha, look, I understand that you're upset. So am I. I came this close to losing my brother. I buried my sister last year.
Sami: What if I had to bury you? What if? I spent all night last night wondering what I would have said to our kids if something had happened to you. What if the kids had been there? What if they had been hurt?
EJ: Why would you even think that way? Chad was hurt, and he's going to be fine.
Sami: But this wasn't some random act.
EJ: Actually, Samantha, in a way, it was.
Sami: How can you say that? Trouble haunts this house. It's here. I mean, you forget I was here when the mayor was murdered.
EJ: I see. I know where this is coming from.
Sami: This house! Your father!
EJ: I gave my word to my father that you would live in this house, and as a result, Samantha, he set you free.
Sami: Well, are you gonna give me your word when we marry, in your vows?
EJ: You know I will.
Sami: To love, honor, and protect?
EJ: Samantha, I will never give you a reason to doubt those words, ever.
Sami: Except that we are living in this house--his house--with our children, and he is in charge!
EJ: I saw you talking to your father earlier. I know where these silly ideas are coming from.
Sami: He just wants to make sure that I don't make some huge mistake.
EJ: Oh... I see. That's what I am, is it? A silly mistake. that you are a mistake. But when I am trying to figure out what to do or how I feel, I don't listen to my mom, my dad, my grandmother, anyone. I make decisions for myself, and you know that.
EJ: Mm-hmm. I do. You have the strongest independent streak of anybody who I've ever met.
Sami: Then trust that.
EJ: I do. It's one of the reasons that I fell in love with you. What I'm trying to work out, Samantha, is whether or not you're still in love with me.
Cameron: You're right. There is something else, Abigail... but I am not at liberty to discuss it because that is what doctor-patient confidentiality is all about. Now, I'm sure you two have a lot to catch up on. I'll let you get to that.
Abigail: Wait. Hang on. Thank you for saving Chad's life. He wouldn't be here without you.
Cameron: Well, it's--it's... it's all in a day's work.
Abigail: [Laughs] Thank God you're okay. Oh, thank God. I don't know what I would have done if I lost you.
Maxine: How's Chad?
Cameron: [Sighs] Well, he's gonna be fine. You know, he was in good health before all this started, so that helps.
Kate: Good news about Chad.
Kate: Rafe's doing well. Progress is great. It's kind of an amazing thing. Jordan Ridgeway comes into town, and suddenly everything's all right with the world. You know, I would like to get her a token of appreciation, but it is so difficult when you don't know someone. But you know her. I mean, you probably know her better than I do. Is there anything you could tell me about her--I mean, what she likes, anything really, anything at all?
Jordan: Okay, great. We're gonna do some work with the medicine ball now.
Rafe: Hang on a second.
Rafe: [Grunts] I want to know one thing.
Rafe: You push me like crazy in here.
Jordan: It's my job, and you're up to it.
Rafe: Right. So how come you went so easy on me with the, uh, Marge Bernardi thing?
Jordan: Apples, oranges.
Rafe: Not really.
Jordan: Look, you need to feel guilty, go ahead. It's your fault. Satisfied? You feel better?
Rafe: No, not really. I don't, actually. See, I'm a cop. I should have said something. I'm trained to know when people are on a ledge and about to go over.
Jordan: And she did, and you did nothing to stop it.
Rafe: Yeah. Yeah.
Jordan: So she has a hard time. She loses it. She takes a loaded gun into a crowded nightclub to shoot someone to get even and almost kills someone else, and she's the victim, and you feel responsible?
Rafe: Now, wait a minute.
Jordan: No, you wait a minute. When is it her responsibility? When is the fact that she loaded a gun, went looking for someone to kill, and almost succeeded at it her fault? When--ever?
Theresa: Do you have any idea how many people are going to get hurt if there are a lot of completely unsubstantiated rumors about me and Dr. Dan going around?
Karin: You mean not true ones?
Theresa: Yeah, not true ones.
Karin: Hey, I'd take it. I mean, you'd get major respect--a doctor, good-looking, still has all his hair.
Theresa: Uh, look, a lot of people will get hurt, Karin. Just drop it, okay?
Theresa: You know, maybe I should just donate those clothes to someplace other than the hospital.
Karin: I could do it. That way, no one will think anything weird.
Theresa: Really? Oh, that's just super nice, Karin.
Karin: What about this?
Theresa: Oh, well, you know, the frame's broken. It's garbage. I'm probably just gonna toss it.
Karin: Whatever you say. Oh, shoot. I thought it was an hour earlier. I can't get lunch after all.
Theresa: Oh, another time. Y-you go. I'm gonna go touch up my lipstick.
Jennifer: No, come on, let's hear it. You're talking like your eyes were finally opened about your father and me. So let's hear about you. Are you a victim? I mean, nothing you ever do or say is ever your fault, right?
JJ: I didn't say that I was a victim, okay? I just see things, uh, a lot more clearly now--that's all.
Jennifer: Really? What is clear? What, JJ--that you have so little self-respect that it doesn't matter what happens to you, that you could walk out this door and cause trouble again and just confirm what everybody's been thinking about you--that you are a liar, a manipulator, and a drug head? So why not just live the part?
JJ: [Sighs] You said it. I didn't. I love that just washed freshness, whether or not I love you. This is about doing what's best for our family, you know, to keep us safe and--and secure from him.
EJ: Samantha, my father was deeply affected by Chad being shot. He fully understands the events that led up to that awful incident, and he recognizes that his finger was as much on the trigger as that stupid lady's.
Sami: Oh, my God. You are completely delusional.
EJ: For God sakes, Samantha.
Sami: Are you kidding me right now? No, he doesn't. Chad lived, so the cost, the consequence to your father is zero. He didn't lose anything that matters to him, so he doesn't have to take responsibility for his horrific actions. You are justifying the unjustifiable.
EJ: No, I am not.
Sami: Do you not understand what is at stake here for me and our children once we marry?
EJ: [Breathes deeply] Okay, Samantha, this is clearly very emotional for you, okay? If you don't like it, why don't we just postpone the wedding?
Sami: Postpone? How about cancel?
Jordan: People have to take responsibility for themselves and their actions, no matter what the circumstances are, no matter how hurt they've been. And if something needs changing, then, for God sakes, change it. Take charge. I'm not talking about acting out in anger or distress. I'm talking about coping, and that's where that woman failed. That's why someone almost died, because she just couldn't cope. And you can't let that happen, or you're lost.
Cameron: Well, professionals at the hospital can't accept gifts for what they do. It could be seen as a bribe for special treatment.
Kate: Oh, really?
Kate: Well, I'm not talking about diamonds or cash. I'm just talking about a token of appreciation.
Cameron: Hmm. Well, I'm about 1,000% sure Dr. Ridgeway would not like me discussing what I may or may not know about her personal life. So, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to work.
Maxine: Yeah. What he said.
Abigail: I want you to have this. It's for good luck... and protection. My dad gave it to me.
Chad: Well, then I will make sure to take good care of it. [Grunts]
Abigail: So, um... I kind of have a confession to make.
Chad: Mm. Is that good news or bad news?
Abigail: Good, I think. Um... I told my mom about us.
Chad: What, that we made love? Is--
Chad: [Sighs] How'd she take it?
Abigail: You were in surgery, and she was waiting with me. I needed to talk. I told her about how you got me an early copy of dad's book, because I wanted her to understand what kind of guy you are and how much you mean to me. It's so funny, Chad-- way back when, when you lied to me... I never thought that this was possible... for us to have this kind of a relationship, you know? Something... so perfect, so real, and... so honest. [Chuckles]
Maggie: Ah. How was parker when he left with Chloe?
Daniel: Ah, good. He's always happy to see her.
Maggie: [Laughs] Um, well, I was thinking about dropping by Jennifer's and seeing if she needed anything, and maybe you would like to come.
Daniel: Okay, mom, mom, stop. I know you mean well, but I can't go over there because it makes things harder for Jenn. Now, I am very clear about that. I hope you would be too.
Maggie: I'm not--
Daniel: Okay, mom...
Maggie: Daniel... I understand what you're saying about JJ, but Jennifer's having a really rough time, and I think having you there would be a tremendous help to her.
Daniel: Okay, I just got through saying that it wouldn't be.
Maggie: But, Daniel--
Daniel: Okay, mom, stop, please. I have made up my mind, and there's nothing you can say that's gonna change it.
Maggie: I am very distressed about JJ, but I hate it that his issues, deep or real as they are, are keeping you and Jennifer apart.
Daniel: Okay, well, that's just the way it is. I fought it. God knows I fought it. But she's putting her son first. She should. It's exactly what I would do. It took me a while to see it, but I just cannot help-- [Sighs] This is, uh... parker's favorite toy.
Maggie: JJ had one just like that when he was parker's age. How do they go from being those sweet and innocent little souls...? [Sighs]
Jennifer: JJ, you are wrong. No one thinks that about you.
JJ: Oh, it's who I am, though, right?
Jennifer: No, it is not.
JJ: You just said it yourself. I'm out of here.
Jennifer: JJ, please. JJ, don't, or I--
JJ: You'll what?
Jennifer: Just don't.
JJ: You know what? You do what you want, mom. I'm going out.
Jennifer: JJ, please don't do something that you are going to regret, please. Just stay away from those friends and stay away from Theresa because she is so destructive and screwed up.
JJ: I thought that I made it very clear to you. You can't tell me what to do anymore.
EJ: Don't you dare give up on us.
Sami: I'm not, EJ. I'm not giving up on us. I just... I just think we should take some time, you know, figure out the right time, figure out when it's--when it's right. You promised your father that we would live here. I didn't. Our children didn't.
EJ: So what are you saying? You're moving out?
Sami: No. No, I'm not saying that. I-I... I don't know.
EJ: Okay. Maybe you should take some time to think--you know what? Maybe we both should. [Sighs] I'm gonna go and see Chad at the hospital. Just... please do me a favor and just take a deep breath... and don't do anything rash. Just spend some time with the children, okay?
Sami: Thank you for not making us fight.
EJ: I love you far too much for that.
Chad: So, um... I wanted to... thank you... for not saying anything to Abigail about what I did.
Cameron: Well, you said you could explain. Now's a good time to start. [Clears throat]
Anne: Oh, I am über proud of you, girlfriend.
Theresa: Yeah, Karin is not going to be able to keep any of what just went down here to herself.
Anne: Oh, who could, honey? It's way too juicy and titillating.
Theresa: I know, right?
Anne: Mm-hmm. Gossip spread far and wide-- it's a thing of beauty. And then when poor, beleaguered Jennifer finds out and gets wind of it... the humiliation, the despair. Oh, she's gonna cry herself a river, and then to avoid any further humiliation and despair, she'll undoubtedly march her munchkin-like little body into the hospital and quit... her...job.
Theresa: Wow. Dare to dream.
Theresa: What--she took the picture too? [Grunts] Great.
Maxine: What is all this?
Karin: It's a donation. I told a friend I'd drop it off--the collection bin in the parking lot out back.
Maxine: Nice. I think they only take, uh, clothes and shoes, I think.
Maxine: Where'd you get that?
Karin: I think someone threw it away by mistake.
Maxine: Was it all broken up like that when you found it?
Karin: Yeah. Maybe it was an accident. But either way, I don't really know either of them. Can you check and see if one of them still wants it?
Maxine: I'll just leave it behind the desk.
Maggie: Okay, what happened? Where's JJ?
Jennifer: He's--he's gone. And I don't--I don't know what's gonna happen, and I don't know what he's gonna do, but I couldn't stop him. He was so determined.
Maggie: To leave?
Jennifer: No, to make sure that I knew what he thought of me and to go out there and cause more trouble than he already has. My son is going to go to prison, aunt Maggie.
Maggie: Oh, no, Jennifer--
Jennifer: No, he is! He's going to go to prison, and I can't stop him, and there's nothing I can do to fix it. I feel like I've--I've made everything worse.
Maggie: Oh, no, honey.
Rory: I'm guessing you're needing that after what they put you through, dude.
JJ: Where'd you, uh--where'd you get this, dude?
Rory: A girl I know gave it to me. Hey, uh, you really don't want your mom to find that on you.
JJ: My mom has no say in what I do or where I go, okay?
Rory: Whoa. [Chuckles] Okay.
Bev: Are you okay after what happened in court and everything?
Bev: Uh, my cousin's a court reporter. She told me a little bit.
Rory: Yeah, the judge got nasty, huh?
JJ: Yeah, uh, he's just a pompous jerk, you know? He thinks he's tough.
Rory: But how did you get them to let you off? Did you tell them why you busted up the display window with your dad's books? I mean, if they knew why--if they knew what your dad did, then--
JJ: How do--how do you know what my dad did? From the sounds to the songs... dude, but news like that--it travels fast.
Bev: Yeah, um, everybody knows about you trashing your dad's book display. Are you sure you're okay?
JJ: Yeah, like it matters. What's the difference? It happened--happened a long time ago.
Rory: JJ, you're still totally upset about it.
JJ: Hey, uh, I'm gonna--I'm gonna take off.
Rory: JJ, come on. Wait, man.
Maggie: Oh, no, honey. You are... you're the most wonderful, caring mother. You didn't do anything wrong.
Jennifer: Right. Yeah. That's why my son is so happy and so well-adjusted, aunt Maggie.
Maggie: But it's not anything you did, Jennifer.
Jennifer: No, it's not about that. It's not about what I do or what I didn't do. It's not about me. It's about my son. I want him to be okay. I want him to feel like he is one of us again. And he has these crazy friends, and--and that Theresa is--
Maggie: Wait a minute. Wait a minute--your assistant?
Jennifer: My ex-assistant, and I'm telling you right now, she is the devil. She is so manipulative, and every time I tell JJ that she's gonna drag him down, it's like I-it drives him closer to her. And I'm out--I am out of answers. I am out of everything. [Sniffles] And if my son goes to prison, I'm gonna die.
Maggie: Oh, honey, don't say that.
Jennifer: [Crying] No. I can't even do this right now. I'm gonna go to work, and, um... I'll see you later.
Theresa: [Scoffs] Why did Karin just walk off with that picture?
Anne: Well, you did kind of set it up, Theresa.
Theresa: But it was just a prop, that's all--something to light the fire under that lamebrain about me and Dr. Dan.
Anne: Oh, and so what--now I'm a lamebrain? You need to explain that to me? Yes, I know what that was, my friend, but can we just be clear here? This could come back to bite you in the ass, all right? Daniel finds out, he's gonna figure out that you were in his apartment.
Theresa: No. No, no, no. Okay, okay. That's not gonna happen. Let me just-- I'm thinking. I mean, what are the chances he's gonna hear about it, right? Slim to none. I mean, it's not like that Karin girl's just gonna run up to him and show him or something. No, she's just a little gossip who's gonna run back and tell her friends, which, of course, we know will just fan the flames and start the rumor moving faster.
Anne: Under the heading of "wishful thinking."
Theresa: I can't waste any more brain space on this, okay? I have bigger fish to fry.
Anne: Anyone I know?
Theresa: Yeah. Jennifer "kiss ass" Horton.
Jordan: Let me get you back to your room.
Rafe: You know, I hear it's gonna be a nice day out. Maybe you can take me out for some air.
Jordan: Well, I have a few things to do first, but why not?
Kate: You look like you had a thorough workout.
Rafe: Oh, it was good, yeah.
Kate: Great. Well, I saw Chad, and he's awake, and he's doing fine. He's really strong, so...
Rafe: Oh, that's great. I'm glad to hear that.
Jordan: Let me get you back to your room.
Kate: Yeah, you go ahead. I'll catch up with you. I want to hear all about your progress.
Rafe: Oh, it was amazing.
Kate: Oh, good.
Kate: Hey. Yeah, it's me. I want you to do a background check on someone--a thorough one.
Chad: Okay, look... you have to understand just how freaked out I was when you first told me that I had a brain tumor. My mind went in a million different directions, okay? I-I thought I was going to die, losing Abigail before I even... and then I thought there had to be a small part of you that wasn't so damn upset about the news.
Cameron: That--that is absolute crap, Chad... and you know it. I wanted to help you.
Chad: Yeah, well, I thought so too. And then I come back with good news from the specialists, and I see you kissing Abigail. I couldn't believe it. I went from thinking I was gonna die to you taking total advantage of the situation. So is--is what I did really so bad compared to you? 3q the arteries of your dishwasher are constantly clogging up I just love how you can come up with a rationalization for faking a brain tumor.
Chad: It was spontaneous. All I wanted to do in that moment was punish you. And then before I knew it, you backed off from Abigail, so I got everything I wanted. What would you have done?
Cameron: What would--what would I have done?
Cameron: Not that, okay? Never that.
Chad: Okay, so now you know everything. Nothing to stop you from telling Abigail... I mean, if that's what you want to do, that is.
Cameron: Well, you know what? I have other patients, and... you need your rest.
Abigail: Hi, EJ.
EJ: Hello, Abigail. Come. Did you get a chance to go back and see Chad?
Abigail: I did, yeah. I'm so relieved that he's healing so well.
EJ: Yeah, I'm glad. He cares about you very much. You know that.
EJ: I saw him earlier. He couldn't stop talking about you.
Abigail: He's so funny. I'm fine. I wish he would stop worrying about me and just focus on himself and healing and getting better, you know?
EJ: He puts you first. That's how it is when you're in love.
Stefano: The rest of your life is going to be a living hell, Samantha, because you are never going to know your precious Sydney, thanks to me.
Sami: Thank God you're finally admitting it. So just tell us where she is!
Stefano: Your damn daughter-- "us"?
Sami: I meant--I meant I just want you to tell me...
Sami: Where she is!
Stefano: This is you.
Sami: [Scoffs] The hell it is. [Scoffs] [Chuckles] No! Come on! You have to get changed.
EJ: We have plenty of time.
Sami: I have to get changed. We don't want to be late for our own party.
EJ: Well, it's our party. Who cares if we're a little bit late?
Kate: I already had a routine background check done on this individual. I need you to dig deep. She's a physical therapist. Her name is Jordan Ridgeway.
JJ: [Sighs] Uh, Theresa, it's JJ. Um, I need to see you, so, uh, call me. Okay, thanks. We've got nothing to say to each other.
Daniel: Yeah? Maybe one thing... and it could change everything.
Theresa: Oh, hey, Jenn-Jenn. Where is JJ, anyway? I just missed a call from him.
Jennifer: You stay away from my son, or I will kill you.
