Episode #12189 ~ EJ helps Chad; Kate, Rafe and Jordan go to EJ and Sami's engagement party which comes to a bloody end.
Provided By Suzanne
about the treatment that you're supposedly getting 'cause you're about having a brain tumor. I called the hospital in L.A. They're the only ones doing the trials that you told me about. And you know what, it's all coming together. You don't want Abigail to know because it wasn't true, right? Right? Look, Chad... I broke up with her because I was concerned about your state of mind, okay? But guess what. The lies end today.
Will: Okay, so you have my cell phone number.
And Sonny's and Gabi's and your mom's and his mom's.
Great. Well, it takes a village and all the villagers have cell phones. So that's good.
Oh, I'll get her. You don't want baby drool on the gorgeous suit.
Will: Hey. Love the hair.
You were right about too much product.
Sonny: Okay, this tie-- complete failure. For the life of me, I can't straighten it out.
Will: Well, thank God for that.
Rafe: So guess what. I've finally been downgraded to a rehab patient. But I'm still stuck in this damn bed. Now--nah, nah, nah. It's okay. You know why? Because at 7:45 on the dot, a candy striper's gonna come in here and ask me if I want an apple juice or a magazine.
Rafe: You want to know what else? The TV. It sucks. It's all reality TV. I hate my reality. Why would I want to watch that on TV?
Kate: Okay. I'm gonna tell you what I'm gonna do. I am going to find you something to watch on Hulu that is really nice and violent.
Rafe: No. 'Cause I'm breaking out of here. Tonight.
EJ: Being here among friends and family with this wonderful woman by my side is truly a dream come true. I love you, Samantha.
[Gun clicks] You and our children make life worth living.
Marge: My two boys... my world...
[Sobbing] I'm so sorry.
[Gun clicks] No, I can't!
EJ: So while being married, she will probably be humdrum, boring, and predictable. I certainly look forward to the lifetime of serenity that that will bring.
Sami: Well, hold on, everybody.
[Clears throat] As my fiancÚ mentioned, we will be having cake in a little bit. And we will announce our wedding date. But I would hate to set the bad precedent of allowing EJ the last word.
[Laughter] So if you don't mind, I have one thing I want to say.
EJ: Yes, dear.
Sami: [Laughs] As you all know, EJ and I have been through so much over the years. And especially lately. And I didn't think it was possible... but your love and your support through these last difficult months have made me love you even more. I have learned that EJ DiMera is a real man. A real man capable of incredible, unbearable sacrifice to protect the people he loves from anything and anyone.
[Cheers and applause]
Kate: Face it. You and I are not cut out for R&R, but you just have to look at the bigger picture here.
Rafe: No, I don't.
Kate: After I had cancer, I had to let my immune system recover and I can't tell you how much I hated waiting to start my life again. But I did it. And look how much joy and happiness I have brought to the world ever since.
Rafe: You did actually bring me some joy. A lot of joy.
Rafe: Didn't even see it coming.
Kate: Well, you need to get your strength back up.
Kate: Come on, you are making progress, you know you are.
Rafe: Well, it doesn't feel like I'm making progress when I fall down when I try and walk.
Kate: I said that it's a standing offer that I will get you home care if you want to go back to your loft.
Rafe: No, I am not letting you pay for a home care provider for me. No. Don't want your charity.
Kate: Okay, then. Okay, you're just gonna have to take comfort in the fact that Jordan--Jordan who makes Jillian Michaels from biggest loser look like a pussycat-- she thinks you're making progress. And she's right behind me, isn't she?
Jordan: Well, you're not always wrong.
Marge: You and EJ should be the ones who suffer. You should know what it feels like to lose what Timmy and I have lost.
Sonny: Sorry we're late. That was my fault.
Sami: It's okay. It's unforgivable to have parents of an infant show up late anywhere.
Will: We are sorry, though, because we know it's a big night for both of you.
EJ: You didn't miss anything. Just some boring English chap giving a boring speech.
EJ: You're in time for cake.
Sami: That is most important.
EJ: Sonny, thank you for letting us use this place.
Sonny: Yeah, no problem. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Will: Everyone seems to be having a great time. Um, except for Stefano.
EJ: Your mother took care of him.
Sami: Well, hardly. I just made a little speech.
Will: Well, with you being so shy and all, good for you.
Will: Listen, I know he upset you, and I'm glad you're siccing it him, you know? It's one little old man. You've got everyone else here who's on your side, so...
[Whispers under breath]
Sami: Thank you.
Marlena: Thanks so much.
Stefano: [Sighs] Well, well, well. If it isn't the queen of the night. Well, it's very nice that we bumped into each other, hmm? I, um...[Laughs] Actually, we haven't had a chance to talk.
Marlena: I know. I thought it was too good to be true.
Stefano: [Laughs] You and your daughter have exactly the same sense of humor, huh? Salute.
Marlena: Did you think she was joking about something?
Stefano: You know, something just dawned on me. Since Elvis and Samantha now are together--right?--We are family, no? So, I wish you would come by the house some night, have dinner, see the children, catch up on things, huh?
Marlena: Great. I'm thinking about the 5th of... never.
Stefano: [Laughs] Salute.
Abigail: Gabi, I think I'm gonna go find Chad.
Gabi: Ab, actually, um... well, the thing is that, um... well, Cameron--the thing about the pictures and, um, the baby-- Cameron kind of asked me to do this because he wanted to talk to Chad...alone.
Abigail: About what?
Gabi: I don't know, but it seemed kind of important.
Chad: Okay, this whole thing is none of your business.
Chad: What the hell were you doing, checking up on me like that? You are my doctor, the doctor who discovered the tumor in the first place. Now, you have an obligation--
Cameron: An obligation to what? To cover for you? What, to back up your lies?
[Scoffs] How about this? Now how about the two of us go in there and tell Abigail the damn truth?
Chad: No, I told you, I don't want Abigail to know anything about this, do you hear me?
Cameron: Yeah, and I'm pretty sure I know why. You know, I should've known there was something false about this whole thing.
Chad: Where do you think you're going? No, no, no, what are you doing, huh?
Cameron: This has to end. This lie has to end, Chad.
EJ: Boys. What's going on here?
Rafe: Well, one thing you should know about Kate is she only insults people she really cares about.
Jordan: Well, I don't think comparing me to Jillian Michaels is an insult.
Kate: Okay. Uh, look, actually, I am really excited that you're here, because your patient is going absolutely crazy, threatening to break out, and I think the sane thing to do would be to authorize that field trip you were talking about.
Rafe: Yeah, I do have cabin fever real bad. And I think it could negatively impact my recovery.
Kate: [Gasps] Oh, my God. This is a dire situation. He's using impact as a verb.
Jordan: And what would you want to do on this field trip?
Rafe: I don't know, um, breathe fresh air? That'd be...[Sighs]. Listen, as much as I hated testifying against Sami, it was great for me to get out.
Kate: Hey, I have an idea. Maybe you could testify against someone again.
Rafe: All right.
Jordan: Well, if you do leave the hospital, I'd have to go with you.
Rafe: Okay, great. Let's do it. I'll buy you a beer.
Kate: Okay, let's do it.
Jordan: Oh, right now?
Kate: What, you have a hot date? Oh, what, Jordan? Come on, it's a joke.
Rafe: Yeah, not to get too personal, but maybe actually some time off campus might do you a little good.
Kate: The three of us having a beer together-- I cannot think of anything that's been more exciting.
Rafe: So what do you say?
Sonny: I'm gonna go check with the bartender and make sure everything's okay.
Will: Everything looks okay to me.
Sonny: Yeah, but I'm also gonna go check on the cake.
Will: No, come on. You're my date, I don't want you to work. I want you to be with me.
Sonny: I'll be right back.
Will: Uh, hey. I'm just, uh, just checking in. Is everything okay?
We're fine, will. Enjoy the party, okay?
Will: Okay, I will, thanks. Give Ari a kiss for me.
Stefano: Well... you're a very devoted father.
Will: Thank you. Hello.
Stefano: You know, now that your mother is living with us, I want you to understand something, that you and that lovely little girl are welcome in my home anytime whatsoever. And that also includes the young Mr. Kiriakis.
Will: Thank you.
Sonny: You know, you're very fortunate. You have a wonderful friend for business, and you have a lovely friend for your life.
Will: I know.
Sonny: Thank you.
Stefano: Of course, your father and my son, it doesn't work out too well, does it? Well, enough is enough. We might as well just bury the hatchet, huh? Ciao.
Will: See ya. I just hope he doesn't bury the hatchet in your dad's back.
Sami: Um, ladies, hi.
Sami: Sorry, I don't mean to interrupt, but I wanted to just say thank you, Gabi, thank you so much...
Gabi: Oh, no problem.
Sami: For coming to my party. I know it must be, um--
Gabi: Weird? Seeing you marry somebody besides my brother?
Gabi: It's a little weird, but you know what? The most important thing is that you're happy, really.
Sami: And I am. I am incredibly happy. And Abigail, thank you so much for coming. I really appreciate it. I know you're going through a lot.
Abigail: No problem.
Sami: And you're here with Chad, right? I mean, where is Chad?
Sami: Where's EJ, for that matter?
Chad: He's accusing me of lying about my tumor, about my treatment.
Cameron: He is lying. I spoke to the hospital in L.A. That administers the protocol.
EJ: How dare you--
Chad: No, come on.
EJ: You come here, to a party that I invite you to, and you accuse my brother of lying about something that outrageous.
Cameron: Look, the doctors that I spoke to--
EJ: The doctors you spoke to were covering their asses. Do you really think that those doctors in los Angeles are going to admit that they took a man from a wealthy and well-known family and put him to the front of the line? You think they're going to admit that they accepted an anonymous donation? That I paid for my brother's treatment? Now, I'm trying to help my brother, and he tells me you've been very supportive, okay? If you push this, I will personally take it upon myself to end your medical career. Okay? You will spend the rest of your life making a living on the 5s and 10s that bored housewives will stick in your g-string. Do we understand one another?
Cameron: Well, you know... I didn't know. I just thought that--
EJ: Don't think, okay?
[ Female announcer ] Take
skincare to the next level
Cameron: I never used Chad's name.
EJ: Good. Now, you better hope you haven't jeopardized his treatment. All right? You feeling okay? You all right? How are those headaches?
EJ: Look at the kid! He's scared to death, and he's trying to keep this a secret from the people who love him. And if you've done anything-- if you've brought any stress to him--
Chad: No, look, it's okay, all right? Kind of just hit hard, that's all.
Cameron: Look... I'm sorry.
EJ: Yeah, me too. Sorry I misjudged you.
Chad: Well, that was impressive.
EJ: Thank you. There is nothing like righteous indignation...
Chad: Right, right.
EJ: To camouflage being wrong.
Chad: I actually believed every word you said.
EJ: Thank you. You should have--I meant it. Come on, let's go and have a drink.
Chad: Drinks on me. Let's do it.
Kate: Looks like Sami's been "window shopping" again.
Rafe: Looks like someone lost their mind.
Kate: Sure does.
Jordan: Well, it looks like we're gonna have to find a new place for our field trip. You think the cafe's still open?
Rafe: Hey, you know what? I've got an idea. Back up, Jordan.
Jordan: I have backed away.
Kate: Bravo, detective.
Rafe: Well, how about that, coach, huh?
Jordan: That's very impressive. And it's good you keep building your upper-body strength, just in case.
Rafe: In case what? In case I'm stuck in this thing the rest of my life?
Caroline: Look at will. He's so happy.
Marlena: I remember that smile looking up at me from his bassinet.
Caroline: I don't think it could possibly be the same smile.
[Laughter] Actually, he's not a little boy anymore.
Caroline: Come on, he's a man, he's a father. Now he has a lifelong partner.
Marlena: He's lucky to have such a good partner.
Kate: Good going, coach. You really know how to brighten up a party.
Jordan: Rafe, with the progress you're making, there's no reason to believe that you'll be confined to a wheelchair.
Kate: Then why did you say it?
Jordan: You're right, I shouldn't have. My job is to consider all the possibilities, no matter how remote, but I shouldn't have said it. I'm sorry.
Rafe: Are you? Good. Prove it. Buy me a beer.
Sami: Thank you. You both are so sweet.
Gabi: Oh, that took a while.
Cameron: Yeah, you know, we should go.
Gabi: Really, why?
Sami: Yeah, you just got here.
Cameron: I know, but I have work early tomorrow morning. I'm sorry.
Sami: Oh, that's okay. I mean, I understand. I certainly can't be one to try to pressure a doctor into partying late into the night.
Gabi: Okay, sorry, you guys. Yes, uh, see you.
Abigail: Good night.
Sami: Good night, good night. Mwah. Thank you for coming. Thank you.
Gabi: Good night.
Cameron: Abigail, good night.
Abigail: Good night.
Cameron: I'll see you at the hospital.
Chad: Hey, what's--what's going on?
Gabi: Cameron and I are just gonna leave.
Chad: Oh, no, no, no, please, don't. It would mean a lot to me if you guys stayed.
Chad: I'm serious. I know this is my brother's party, but I would like my friends here too, you know?
Cameron: That's fine.
Chad: All right.
Gabi: All right, we'll be right back.
Cameron: All right...
Abigail: Okay, what's going on? What did the two of you talk about out there?
Chad: Uh, Cameron wanted to talk about Theo and how he was doing. Nothing major.
Abigail: He had to do that privately?
Chad: Um... yeah, I think he thinks things changed when I moved back in with my family. And I'm pretty sure Abe didn't think it was a swell idea, so... I think it was good. I think Cameron and I cleared the air.
Abigail: Well, that's great.
Chad: And now, I want you to enjoy the party and have some fun.
Abigail: Thank you.
Sami: [Laughs] I still feel like a young bride. A young bride with a grandchild, but still a young bride.
Sonny: Ah, I'm really sorry the cake still is not here.
Will: It's when they're gonna announce the date, though.
Sonny: I know, I'm really sorry.
EJ: It's okay. It's fine. There really isn't anything at all that could spoil this evening.
Stefano: What the hell is she doing here? Finish quantum
Rafe: All right.
Stefano: The nerve of them.
EJ: Welcome. Well, we--we didn't realize you'd be able to make our celebration.
Kate: Did you really think that we knew this was going on? We were going out for a beer, and the cafe happened to be closing.
EJ: Uh, well, you're welcome to have a beer here, or anything else you may wish to drink. Oh, darling? Rafael's here. Look, he's up and about. Which is truly an inspiration.
Rafe: Come on, let's get the hell out of here.
Kate: Turns out that he's very picky about who he drinks with.
Rafe: Whoa... hold on, hold on. On second thought, why don't we stick around? Beer actually sounds good.
Rafe: And besides, I wouldn't want to be rude.
Harold: May I help you?
Marge: That depends. Are EJ and Sami at home?
Sami: [Laughs] Far be it from me to question the judgment of my future husband, but don't you think, before you invited Rafe to stay for a beer, that perhaps you should have sent your father to, I don't know, outer Mongolia?
EJ: Who knows? Maybe we'll help them move on.
Sami: You think this is funny?
EJ: Look, I have to live in his house and I may have to do his bidding, but Rafe--Rafe can say whatever he wants to the old... gentleman.
Jordan: All right, here you go, and I'll be right back with your wine.
Gabi: A-are you sure that this is a good idea?
Rafe: Yeah, it's okay. Ask Jordan. One beer's not gonna hurt.
Gabi: You know that I'm not talking about that.
[Sighs] Well... look at that. The happy couple doesn't look so happy.
Gabi: Well, maybe they're just tense now that you're here.
Kate: You think?
Rafe: Well, maybe. But I'm all about letting bygones be bygones.
Marlena: I am so happy to see you out and about. Mm. Kate. You have a second?
Marlena: I don't recall seeing your name on the guest list.
Kate: Trust me, this was not my idea.
Sami: [Scoffs] I find that hard to believe.
Kate: Oh, really? Do you think I want to raise a glass to you and EJ? You're not exactly two of my favorite people.
Sami: No, but I know you would be happy to ruin my party. Kate, don't you think you should get Rafe out of here?
Kate: Sami, you look positively radiant tonight.
Sami: Kate... we both know it is not a good idea. You know what Stefano did the last time that he found out about the two of you.
Kate: Rafe is the one who wanted to stay, Sami.
Sami: [Sighs] All right, fine. Well, at least he doesn't know what Stefano tried to do to him.
EJ: Do you know what Bernardi was going to do with his little razorblade? He came here to put your junk in a box, so to speak.
Sami: EJ, I think something awful's going to happen. I just know it.
Harold: I'm sorry, Mr. DiMera and ms. Brady are not at home. Is there something I can help you with?
[Phone rings] Excuse me. DiMera residence. Ah, the cake for the engagement party. No, no, it's going to Chad DiMera's club. Club TBD. Yes. Yes, that's the name. That's where the party's being held. Right. I'm sorry, I really had to get that, I...
EJ: Just remember that none of this matters. My father, Rafe, Kate. As long as you and I are together, nobody is going to be able to ruin our happiness, okay? Need a new mattress?
Will: Is this your idea of a good time?
Rafe: What, you worried I'm gonna make a scene?
Will: No, I'm worried about you. Why don't we, um... grab some beers, and we can go outside and, I don't know, get some fresh air.
Rafe: Yeah, thanks, but no thanks.
Will: Okay. Uh... well, I know this is hard for you, and I just wanted you to know that I genuinely believe that my mom is really happy where she's at right now.
Rafe: Yeah, yeah.
[Scoffs] Course. 'Cause EJ's changed and Stefano's mellowed. They're good guys now.
Will: I don't know, maybe today they are.
Rafe: Yeah, no such luck. Listen, I appreciate you coming to talk to me, and I appreciate you being worried about your mom's happiness, but guess what. So am I. You know, we've been through a lot, and, uh, I actually feel like I owe her. She defended me when I was unable to defend myself. And unfortunately, I can't do that for her now.
Marlena: No, I'm very glad you called, and you know what? I will check on you tomorrow. Okay, thanks. Good night.
Marlena: Hey! Sorry, that was just a patient.
Will: Yeah, I didn't get a chance to say hi, so I thought I'd follow you out here.
Marlena: I'm glad you did.
Marlena: I've been missing you just a little bit.
Will: I know.
Will: Sorry, busy with the baby, you know?
Marlena: [Laughs] How's all that going?
Will: Great. I mean, Sonny and I are great. Ari's great. We're getting along with Gabi. It's nice when your mom gets out of jail too.
Marlena: And who would know that better than you?
Marlena: Wow... it makes me so happy to see you so happy.
Will: Vice-versa. Um, speaking of you being happy though, how are you and john?
Marge: I'm sorry it's come to this. But if the law won't make Sami Brady and EJ DiMera pay for what they did, I will.
[Phone rings] Timmy? Baby, is that you?
Sami: Hey, Rafe. Um, if you don't mind, I just wanted to say, I'm really happy to see you outside of the hospital, and you look like you're doing better than when I barged into your pt room anyway, right?
Rafe: Yep. Stronger every day.
Sami: Good. Well, um, anyway, I should probably get back to my guests.
Rafe: Good luck... to you and the kids. I mean it.
Sami: I know you do.
[Clears throat] You really have lost a lot, haven't you?
Rafe: Yeah, I have. But I still have all my working parts.
Stefano: Hmm. I don't know, I mean, you seem to look a little pathetic to me.
Rafe: And you.
[Snorts] You look like a broken-down equipment manager jealous of the guy who can still swing the bat.
Stefano: [Laughs] At least you still have your tongue, huh?
Rafe: I told you I wasn't gonna rest till I was on my feet, coming after you.
Stefano: I'll be waiting. But I won't hold my breath. Now that we're retired,
Will: You still love john, don't you?
Marlena: Sometimes love isn't enough.
Will: [Sighs] But you two went through so much together.
Marlena: I know we have. But now it seems rather than being a team, we seem to have become separate individuals.
Will: Hmm. Have you heard of, um, this new thing called counseling?
Marlena: Have you heard of a boy being fresh?
Will: [Laughs] Sorry.
Marlena: But clearly, counseling works a whole lot better when one of the parties decides that, uh, to stay living in the united states and not live in Europe. So I'm sorry to say it, but I think--I think we can't make it work.
Will: Hmm. Are you okay with that?
Marlena: I have to be okay, 'cause that's what it is.
Will: I'm sorry, I--
Marlena: I know. I'm soy too.
Chad: So, the cake should be here any minute.
Chad: Uh, thank God they don't deliver organ transplants or anything else important.
Chad: Look, I know your mind is somewhere else right now. What can I do?
Abigail: Nothing. You're doing it.
Caroline: As I said, some day, all your evil deeds--
Stefano: Yeah, I know, I know. They'll all come back to haunt me, I know.
Caroline: Haunt you? They're gonna bite you in the ass.
Kate: I saw Stefano talking to you. What did he want?
Rafe: Just to get under my skin.
Kate: Okay, that's it. We're leaving.
Rafe: Well, I didn't say that he succeeded.
Kate: We're leaving.
Rafe: I got it. I got it.
EJ: Uh, ladies and gentlemen, if I could have everybody's attention, please. Now that everybody is here, I'd love to say just a few more words, so if you would be kind enough to indulge me... I know that I have already told you this evening how much I love Samantha, and in the last 20 minutes, darling, that hasn't changed.
Sami: That's a long time for us, actually.
EJ: Those of you who know our relationship know that, at times, it has been volatile and it has been somewhat intense.
Sami: Well said.
EJ: Um, but as we have had our differences, we've also become very adept at resolving the conflict within our relationship, and for the most part, I think it was legal.
EJ: It seems that whatever life throws at us...
Sami: Or we throw at each other.
EJ: We always find our way back to one another.
Rafe: [Scoffs] Let's go, before I hurl.
EJ: This is truly the happiest day of my life.
Marge: Timmy, baby... you're a good boy, Timmy. You always have been. But I need you to listen to grandma and grandpa now, okay? And I want you to know, no matter what anyone says... I loved your daddy and you more than life itself. Good night, baby.
EJ: To Samantha jean Brady, the love of my life. This time... there's nothing and no one that will tear us apart.
Marlena: To Sami and EJ.
[Cheering] Nice work.
Rafe: Uh, sorry, I just had to get out of there. I couldn't listen to that phony bastard ramble on any longer.
Kate: I know, right? The whole thing was just nauseating.
Rafe: No, it's fine--
Kate: Actually, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I suggested going there.
Rafe: No, no, I said it was fine. I just had to go. And besides, it was good to see my old friends again...let Stefano and EJ know that I'm gonna be back on my feet soon, my old self again.
Jordan: I know it's none of my business, but it seems to me like you have quite a complex relationship with your ex-wife.
Kate: [Laughs] Oh, God.
Jordan: Uh, that wasn't a joke.
Kate: Oh, no, Jordan, actually, it was.
Gabi: [Sighs] Okay, so I just got off the phone with the sitter. Apparently, we broke a world record: 20 calls. So she told me I had to get off the phone because my third cousin from san Diego was on hold and she wanted to find out how Arianna was.
Will: Just imagine her life when she starts, um, dating.
Chad: Hey, everybody. Before EJ and Sami cut the cake and announce the big day, I would like to say a few things. When I first found out that EJ was my brother, I didn't quite know what to do with that. But now, I know what it means to have a brother. In the last few weeks, EJ's really proven what his--what our father always talks about: How important it is to have family on your side. Now, EJ was there for me for some tough times the last month, and in a way, he sort of became my best friend. So I'd like to raise my glass to you, my brother, and your beautiful bride.
Abigail: Oh, my God, she's got a gun!
Sami: Oh, my God!
