Episode #12183 ~ Theresa messes with Jennifer; JJ asks Abigail what happened between Kayla and their father.

Provided By Suzanne

EJ: The kids okay?

Sami: Um, yeah. My grandmother and Lucas took them to the park.

EJ: Yeah. They're probably wondering why they're not on the way to Chicago.

Sami: I'm sure they're just happy to know where we are and that we're okay.

EJ: They're always happiest when they're with us. Samantha, when you walked out that door... I just...ended up pacing backwards and forwards in the garden and the dining room and the living room. It felt like that moment when you cut yourself, before the bleeding starts, when you can't think and you can't feel.

Sami: EJ, look. I just have to explain what happened and what's going to happen.

EJ: I will not give up on us.

Stefano: How is your room?

Chad: It's fine. Harold got it all set up. EJ said I could take any room in the north wing. I went with the one on the end. I like being able to see over the wall outside. So that's it. I'm here.

Stefano: [Chuckles] [Exhales] Welcome home, son.

Abigail: Cameron, can I ask you one thing? Why did you lie to me? I thought that we were friends.

Cameron: We are friends.

Abigail: Then why didn't you tell me the truth? The whole truth.

Maggie: [Laughs] Hi.

Daniel: Thank you so much for helping me out. Thank you.

Maggie: I keep telling you, it's not thanking you for anything. This is my grandson, who I always love spending time with. Yes, sweetheart. [Smooches] How's Jennifer?

Daniel: You know what, mom? I have a proposition for you.

Theresa: Isn't it funny how we like all the same men? Lucky for me you just throw them away. What's up with that? Well, somebody has to pick them up, right?

Jennifer: You listen to me. And you listen hard.

JJ: What do you know about my dad? And why does it sound so bad?

Stefano: I'm glad that Elvis talked you into coming home.

Chad: Home? No, no, no, no, no. This isn't my home. I mean, I'll try. I'm here and all, but--

Stefano: Don't tell me that you're disappointed in your decision?

Chad: It wasn't a decision. EJ didn't leave me with much choice.

Stefano: Uh-huh.

Cameron: Abigail, I don't know what you want me to say.

Abigail: Tell me the thing that you've been trying not to say.

Cameron: How come you haven't told her you're sick? Okay, she would want to know that, and she deserves that, Chad.

Chad: Why should I worry her? I'm fine.

Cameron: I'm not sure what you mean.

Abigail: About your work. You said that that was your focus, that that we could just be friends because you didn't have time to have a relationship.

Cameron: Right.

Abigail: Right. So why the lie?

Cameron: That's not at all--

Abigail: Really? Because now all of a sudden, you have time to date Gabi Hernandez, but you don't have time to date me?

Jennifer: You want to get a rise out of me about Daniel? You need to do better than that childish attempt you just made.

Theresa: You know, younger works for him, jenny. So, just so you know.

Jennifer: [Laughs] No, because he doesn't use children the way you do. My son is a very confused, young man, and he's going through a tough time.

Theresa: Hmm.

Jennifer: And you will stay away from him and let him heal. You are the last thing he needs in his life right now.

Kayla: I'm sorry, JJ.

JJ: What about my dad were you going to say?

Kayla: I shouldn't have said anything, I shouldn't have said it like that.

JJ: But what were you going to say?

Kayla: I-I was just going to say that I'm--I'm just--I'm just frustrated. I'm frustrated with you. And you need to--you need to patch things up with your mom.

JJ: Aunt Kayla, this is the first time in my whole life that I've ever thought this. You are lying to me.

Daniel: I would like to take parker to visit Melanie in Europe. And I think it'd be great if you went too.

Maggie: [Gasps] A family reunion.

Daniel: More like a first meeting, but yeah, sure. That's--

Maggie: [Laughs] Well, I-I would love to be a part of it. So when are you gonna go?

Daniel: As soon as possible.

Maggie: That sounds like running more than a vacation.

Daniel: No, it's the holidays. The holidays are coming. I want to see Mel.

Maggie: Or you don't want to be here alone.

Daniel: I'm not--I'm not--

Maggie: You don't want to be here without Jennifer.

Theresa: You think I'm your son's problem? I'm exactly the kind of friend he needs right now.

Jennifer: Hmm. But deep down, you know that's not true. You are no good for JJ or anybody. Including yourself, especially yourself, actually.

Theresa: You don't get to judge me.

Jennifer: I'm not. I'm watching you. And you are drowning. And you grab onto anyone to try to stay afloat. But you end up dragging them down with you. And you know what, I feel sorry for you, I really, really do. But I will not let you pull my boy under.

Theresa: You're dead wrong, lady. You don't know a thing about me or your son. You're the last thing that JJ needs.

JJ: You weren't about to tell me to go home. It was something about dad. And something that made him look bad next to Daniel.

Kayla: I'm not here to try to sell Daniel to you. I wouldn't do that.

JJ: So you wouldn't say that dad was always running off and leaving mom on her own with us? He had this thing where he would take off on some adventure. And I know that mom and Abigail resented it. But you know what, I get it. Especially being around this town. It's real hard to breathe here.

Kayla: JJ, give it a chance. A real chance. I gotta go.

JJ: Not until you get it all out.

Kayla: What?

JJ: Is that all you wanted to tell me about dad or is there more?

Cameron: Abigail, listen to me. Gabi and I, we're just friends.

Abigail: You're not dating?

Cameron: [Sighs] It's not a big deal, okay?

Abigail: Okay.

Cameron: There's no reason to be...

Both: Jealous.

Abigail: No, I'm not jealous. I'm with Chad now. And I'm really happy. And you know what, I'm happy for Gabi too because she deserves to have someone fun in her life right now.

Cameron: Okay, well, then what's the problem?

Abigail: You are the problem. You should've just been honest with me, Cameron. If you weren't interested in me that way, you could've just said that.

Cameron: I couldn't say that, Abigail. I couldn't say that because it wasn't true.

Stefano: Family can be very compelling. Ah.

Chad: You know, especially this family. We, uh, compel each other a lot.

Stefano: Only for the greater good.

Chad: That's an interesting interpretation of what EJ did with me.

Stefano: As a matter of fact, I thought he would be here by now.

Chad: Yeah, I saw him earlier. He went to find Sami.

Stefano: Ah.

Chad: Yeah. It seems they had a minor disagreement about where to live.

Stefano: Yes, but don't worry. They'll both be back here very soon.

EJ: Samantha, please don't say anything, just not yet.

Sami: Oh, EJ, you have to let me talk.

EJ: Just--look, I understand. Things seem impossible. I recognize that.

Sami: Well, it isn't. It's just--

EJ: But they're not. There is a way to insulate you from my father.

Sami: No, there isn't, EJ.

EJ: You're wrong.

Sami: What are you talking about, EJ?

EJ: There's a way that I can make sure you're safe, that you don't suffer.

Sami: We have to stop putting each other through this misery, EJ.

EJ: That's what I'm saying. I'm telling you, I'm being mindful of the situation.

Sami: You are second-guessing me, you have to stop it!

EJ: No, I'm saying that I know how you feel.

Sami: No, you don't! You don't know how I feel!

EJ: I know exact--look! Just--if you just let me try--

Sami: No! Stop it! Okay? Just shut up for a second and give me a chance. I am so embarrassed for walking out on you. EJ, you don't have to beg me to come back. I'm not gonna let you live there without me. Save them.

Sami: Please, just sit. Please. Look, I paNicked. I paNicked. It's not an excuse, it's just... that I was desperate for things to be normal between us. For us and the kids to just get away, you know. I wanted the world to stop intruding.

EJ: So did I.

Sami: But the only reason I could hope for that was because of you. And you have fought so hard for so long to get out from under Stefano. And you did it. On your terms, you finally did it. You won. And then you just... you gave it all up for me. How could I walk away from you when you did that for me? I'm sorry.

EJ: I-I do know how difficult it is for you to consider moving back into the mansion.

Sami: Not as difficult as this is for you. And that is the other reason I paNicked. 'Cause the idea of you having to live there with your father-- if--

EJ: Just don't. Okay, no. Just--just leave it.

Sami: You went to hell for me. And I'm not gonna leave you alone in it. You see, EJ, what I realize is that it doesn't matter where we are. And it doesn't matter who else is there. As long as I have you and our kids, then nothing else matters to me.

Stefano: So, join me for a game.

Chad: I don't play much chess. It's a little inactive for me.

Stefano: Hey, it is exercise for the brain, my son.

Chad: Yeah, whatever.

Stefano: Well, anyway, how is Abigail?

Chad: She's good.

Stefano: Mm-hmm.

Chad: We're good.

Stefano: And Cameron--is he still a problem?

Chad: How do you even-- [Chuckles] You know what, never mind. Shouldn't surprise me that you know.

Stefano: You know, I have to know what's going on with my children all the time.

Chad: Yeah. And someday, I'll have to spot whoever it is you have tailing me.

Stefano: [Laughs]

Chad: Now that would be a useful skill in this family, now wouldn't it?

Stefano: So, do you need help with Cameron?

Chad: [Chuckles] No. No, no. Thank you, but he's backed off. Abigail's mine.

Abigail: I don't understand.

Cameron: Okay, well, okay. Maybe I wasn't real-- wasn't real clear. But I am putting my career first, so I felt like we could only be friends for now.

Abigail: "For now"?

Cameron: Abigail, why are we having this conversation? I mean, you said it yourself. You're with Chad and you're happy. And you know what, I'm happy for you. Okay?

Abigail: [Groans] How is men not a four-letter word?

[Phone vibrates]

Kayla: JJ, I-I didn't come here to talk about your dad at all. Listen, your whole family is just worried sick about you. They don't know where you are, if you're on the street, or even if you have a place to sleep. So call your mom, okay? Look, I gotta go.

Rory: Yo, dude. I found refuge.

JJ: What?

Rory: A place to crash for the night, man.

JJ: Yeah, great, man.

Rory: Uh...a little enthusiasm for my efforts, yeah?

JJ: Yeah, yeah. Sorry, dude. I'm sorry.

Rory: What's wrong?

JJ: Nothing.

Daniel: Well, I just want parker to meet his big sister, that's all. Yeah.

Maggie: You're sure?

Daniel: Mm-hmm. Yeah, and I didn't really get a chance to, well, let Melanie, you know, grow up with a family.

Maggie: I don't mean to pry, Daniel. I just don't want to jump in and make things worse. You may be trying here, but you don't seem very happy these days. Come on now, talk to me.

Daniel: Well, you know what, there really isn't much to say. It seems like no matter what I do with Jennifer and JJ, that-- you know, it's the wrong thing.

Maggie: So is that just what you thought or did Jennifer feel the same way?

Daniel: It's mutual, really.

Maggie: Really?

Daniel: Yes, it is.

Maggie: Oh, okay.

Daniel: It's mutual.

Maggie: It's very clear to me that you still love Jennifer. And yet, for the first time in this, this round and around about all of this, I just get the feeling that you really are letting her go.

Daniel: I am. I mean, I don't want to. But it's the only thing I can do. So how about it? How about it? A family reunion. Will you please, please just think about it?

Maggie: Of course. I'll talk to Victor. And I'll see what he's got going for the next few months.

Daniel: Thank you. Theresa: You have no idea what a drag you are to everyone around you. You know what, went I first met JJ, he was so cute. He was so proud to bring me home. He was trying to impress me. He wanted to show me how great he actually is. But then you walked in and treated him like he was 12 years old. You humiliated him.

Jennifer: You do not know--

Theresa: No, I saw his face, jenny. And then he talked to me about it afterward. You make him feel so small. It's like you don't really even see him for who he really is.

Jennifer: You know what, that is enough.

Theresa: No, he told me that all you care about is yourself and getting on with your on life. And he even told me that you didn't offer to let him come home after his dad died.

Jennifer: I am not gonna discuss my personal life with you!

Theresa: Oh, no! God forbid that you take time to talk about your own son. You know what? JJ's doing just fine without you.

Jennifer: Oh, yes. Perhaps by your standards, he is, Theresa.

Theresa: By his standards! You know, he never intended to live the way that you wanted him to. It was all an act. And he put it on for as long as he could. And he was so proud of how he fooled you. We just laughed about it. But you know what the sad part is? Even after all that, deep down inside, he still loved you. And what he really needed was for you to love him back.

Jennifer: You know what--

Theresa: But you weren't there, jenny, you weren't there.

Jennifer: This is really unreal right now.

Theresa: JJ was heartbroken over his dad, and you weren't there.

Jennifer: You shut up! Just shut your mouth!

Jennifer: I am not going to stand here and listen to this garbage. You know nothing about JJ's father or JJ.

Theresa: Well, I know this. JJ hates you now.

Jennifer: You stay away from him. Or the trouble that you have had so far is going to look like a vacation at the beach.

Theresa: [Scoffs]

Jennifer: Are we clear?

EJ: So can I please take you away now?

Sami: What do you mean? To Chicago?

EJ: Yeah.

Sami: I thought you were only taking me there to get me away from Stefano.

EJ: No. We're celebrating your getting out of prison. I thought it would be nice. We can go away, we can take the kids, we can go out for around the lakefront.

Sami: Oh, no, no. Please stop. Please stop. You're tempting me to change my mind.

EJ: About what?

Sami: I think we should go home.

EJ: "Home"?

Sami: To your--Stefano's.

EJ: Oh. You mean hell.

Sami: That's the place. Grandma and Lucas--they have the kids. They'll be fine. I think we should go talk to Stefano.

EJ: Now why would you want to do that?

Sami: Lay down some ground rules.

EJ: Oh, Samantha, that sounds very ominous.

Sami: Look, seriously. You promised him, didn't you? You promised him that you would be a loyal son, that you would live in his house, that you would bring your family to live there. But you didn't do something crazy like promise that I would be happy about it, did you? You didn't promise that I was all of sudden gonna be sweetness and light?

EJ: Well, yes--but, no. No, I didn't. But I still don't think that means that it's necessarily a good idea to--

Sami: Come on, stop, stop. I think it could be fun. Come on. Have some fun with me.

Stefano: So no game?

Chad: [Groans] Another time.

Stefano: Ah. You should practice, you know. You need skills.

Chad: You mean the "ruthlessly destroy your enemy" kind of skills? No thanks. I don't need those skills.

Stefano: Really? You eliminated your rival for Abigail, yes?

Chad: Not like--

Stefano: [Chuckles] Not like the DiMeras, huh? My son, let me tell you something.

Chad: You're right. I did it without even blinking. I am a DiMera.

Stefano: Then smile when you say it. Be proud.

Chad: That might take another day or two.

Stefano: [Chuckles]

Abigail: Hey, squirt.

JJ: Yeah. How old do I have to be before you knock that off?

Abigail: Hmm, not possible. You'll always be squirt.

JJ: If that's your way of getting me back home--

Abigail: Actually that's not why I'm here.

JJ: What?

Abigail: It doesn't come out until later this week.

JJ: Seriously, how come I don't know about this?

Abigail: I didn't even know the release date myself. You know, there's always such a big time lag with publishing.

JJ: So it's--it's in stores right now?

Abigail: Later this week. This is an advanced copy.

JJ: We gotta buy every copy in town. You know, get his sales up.

Abigail: Okay, but if we do that, then no one's gonna be able to read it.

JJ: No, no, no. We can give it to people. You know, I want to send a copy to everyone from school.

Abigail: No, I know what you mean. I want to do the same thing. I want everyone that I know to read it.

JJ: It's like this piece of dad.

Abigail: Yeah.

JJ: It'll be here for a hundred years or maybe longer. He won't be forgotten.

Abigail: That was never a question, JJ.

JJ: People are--they'll know what kind of man he was. You know, gonna remember him.

Abigail: I hope so. God, JJ. Wait until you read it though. I'm telling you. You're gonna hear dad all over again. It's amazing. It's like you're right there at the dinner table. You know, you finished your meal, and you're just listening to him.

JJ: Just go on and on.

Abigail: Yes.

JJ: He was a great storyteller, huh?

Abigail: Yeah. You know, he always will be. It's yours.

Jennifer: You need to get out of my office right now.

Theresa: You know, I feel bad for you too, jenny, so before I go, little bit of advice.

Jennifer: If you say one more word to me about my son--

Theresa: Oh, no, no, no. It's not about JJ. It's about Daniel.

[The ride of the Valkyries playing]

Stefano: Ah, welcome home.

EJ: Father.

Stefano: Samantha, it's good to see you. [Shuts off music]

Sami: I just have a few things I want to get settled. I will live here, Stefano. But my kids and I are not gonna be showing up at the dinner table every night. They have a schedule, we have lives. And I'd like to talk about this music.

[Turns music back on]

Stefano: This is music that I love. If you cannot learn to like it, then you wear an ear plug. Hmm? You do not dictate to me.

Jennifer: I'm not buying it, Theresa, because Daniel is way too smart to get involved with you in any way.

Theresa: Okay. You go with that.

Jennifer: Okay, I will. Thanks.

Theresa: You know, it's a great shot. But I feel like you probably should have used that surfing photo of him. You know, the one by the door? Then you could've moved it over to the sofa and done kind of a casual, at-home shoot. It's a great couch, isn't it? Plenty of room for two people to stretch out on. And oh, God, there is just nothing like the feel of soft leather on bare skin, you know?

Daniel: All right, you be good for grandma, okay?

Maggie: Oh, don't worry about us. We're gonna have a wonderful time. There is a great climbing tree in the back of the garden.

Daniel: What?

Maggie: Climbing...

Daniel: Oh, my goodness. I'm jealous. Where's a hug? Give me a hug. Big kiss. Mwah! Oh, my God, you're tackling me, kid. All right.

Kayla: Hey, tom. Have you seen my mom?

Tom: She and Lucas took Sami's kids to the park.

Kayla: Oh. Thanks. Can't go back there.

Daniel: Oh, you're having one of those days too, huh? Kayla, you all right?

JJ: Thanks. Seriously, you have no idea...

Abigail: JJ...

JJ: How much this means to me. Especially on a day like today.

Abigail: Why today?

JJ: Can I ask you a question?

Abigail: Yeah.

JJ: Um, okay. I know dad did some sketchy stuff in his life, okay. But did he ever do anything that was, like, off the charts bad?

Abigail: Where is all of this coming from?

JJ: I had a weird conversation with aunt Kayla about Dad and stuff that he did.

Stefano: I will see you and the entire family for dinner.

Sami: What? Didn't you hear me say that we're not coming--

Stefano: Dinner will be at 8:30.

Salud.

[The ride of the Valkyries playing]

[Shuts off music]

Sami: [Groans] We're not feeding the kids at 8:30! You understand me? He is absolutely--

EJ: Samantha, we are never going to beat him by facing him head on.

Sami: I'm just getting warmed up.

Cameron: Hey, Chad. Hey. How's it going?

Chad: Good, good. I'm just bought this green glop at the health food store. They put beet juice in it, but it's still terrible.

Cameron: You know what, hey. Green glop, beet juice--it's all good for you. It'll help boost your immune system.

Chad: Yeah, it's what the doc said.

Cameron: You know what, tell me something. Is your doctor from L.A.?

Chad: Why?

Cameron: Well, you know, I was poking around a little bit online, and you know what, are you sure that they're giving you polycefin?

Chad: Yeah. Why?

Cameron: Huh. Interesting 'cause from what I found, those trials are only happening in L.A.

Abigail: What did aunt Kayla say exactly?

JJ: Uh, not much. But she got mad when I was comparing dad to Jonas and what a loser Jonas was. And then, she blurted out that dad wasn't a saint and that she should know. She didn't say anything else, but she was jumpy. What?

Abigail: Well, dad wasn't a saint, JJ. And everybody's jumpy right now because we don't want you to end up some homeless person in a park, okay? I mean, it's supposed to rain tonight. Did you know that?

JJ: Yeah.

Abigail: Where are you gonna sleep tonight, JJ? Do you have any idea?

JJ: Don't worry about it.

Abigail: Well, I won't worry about it if you come home.

JJ: I can't deal with mom. Not yet. But you know what, thanks for the book. Seriously, it's exactly what I needed. So about dad.

Abigail: No. It's not about dad. JJ, you need to be thinking about mom. I get that you needed space and you need your time, but use it. We want you home. We both do. Take care.

Daniel: What is it? What's wrong?

Kayla: I, um--I ran into JJ in the park.

Daniel: Yeah. Yeah, that's where he hangs out.

Kayla: Apparently, it's his only known address at this point.

Daniel: What? What happened? What, did he give you lots of attitude?

Kayla: Well, he's got a lot of bad attitude, especially about you.

Daniel: Yeah, well, I'm the problem in case you haven't heard.

Kayla: Not even close.

Daniel: I hope you didn't try to defend me because that only makes it worse with him.

Kayla: You didn't do anything wrong.

Theresa: Sorry to disappoint you, jenny, but Daniel's human. And I know how to make men happy. You should try it some time.

Jennifer: You know what's really sad? The way you operate. Because I believe you have potential. As lousy a job as you did working for me, I saw it. I did. You have a brain. And if you would've used it and taken advantage of all the chances that were offered to you and worked really hard, you could've shined. I really believe that. But right now, you are wasting everyone's time, including yours. And you will never really get what you want that way.

Theresa: Well, we'll see about that.

Chad: Your information is faulty, Cameron. Besides, my name is DiMera. Sometimes you get special treatment.

Cameron: Hey. I thought you didn't want your family to know.

Chad: I didn't. But then EJ figured it out.

Cameron: Well, that's good. You needed somebody to talk to.

Chad: Well, now I have him. I moved in the mansion. He'll be right there, okay? So please leave us alone.

Cameron: Listen--

Chad: I don't want anyone else to know about this.

Cameron: Fine. Chad. I have to protect your privacy. And I promise you I will.

Chad: Good. See you.

Sami: What did he think? I was just gonna pretend that he didn't try to throw me in prison for the rest of my life?

EJ: Darling, he doesn't care what you think.

Sami: Obviously. He expects me to take care of his grandchildren.

EJ: And take care of me. Please don't forget that.

Sami: [Laughs] Never. Oh. [Clears throat]

EJ: Darling, you're never going to win by getting in his face. You know that.

Sami: No, but I might just keep my sanity. Our sanity. Look, EJ, you have to understand that I want to put him on notice. I am not gonna be a shadow in this house, and I'm not gonna stand by and let him treat you like a slave.

EJ: He doesn't. Actually, he's sadly grateful to have me around.

Sami: Are you kidding me? That's even worse. EJ, I am worried about you. More than me and the kids, I am worried about you being here with him and being sucked back in.

EJ: Don't be. I'll be fine.

Sami: He's your father.

EJ: In name only. Listen, we just have to give him the illusion of a family.

Sami: You think he doesn't know the difference?

EJ: He doesn't, if we're smart.

Sami: It's just your way of telling me that I have to make nice.

EJ: I am certainly not going to tell you what you should or should not do.

Sami: Hmm. Smart guy.

EJ: Whatever you decide to do, you should know that I'm very grateful that you and the children are here. I couldn't do this without you.

Sami: EJ, you have us. Always. Oh.

EJ: What?

Sami: Just that we almost had it all.

EJ: We did. But we'll have it again. It's just a matter of time.

Anne: They're definitely over. Okay, yes, I heard them at the pub, and he was talking with his mother, and he was waxing on about his kids and leaving town.

Theresa: No, he can't do that. That would ruin everything.

Anne: Yes, well, I know. I work in hr, so I'll stop it from happening. I'm just telling you that is how over their relationship is.

Theresa: Yeah, well, Jenn's not over him.

Anne: Mm-mm. No, they're all very moony and disgusting and star-crossed. [Mockingly snores] It's so boring.

Theresa: You know, jenny would not be happy if Dr. Dan was with another woman, especially with someone so unworthy.

Anne: Baby, forget it. Okay, he used to be a player, but now he's like Dudley do-right. You ain't gonna get him.

Theresa: I don't need to get him in bed. I just need Jenn to think that I did.

Abigail: He is in the park. I got an advanced copy of dad's book that a friend gave me, and I took it to him. I was hoping that JJ would be reminded of home, and it would make him miss us a lot more than he wanted to be mad.

Jennifer: Okay, good. I mean, did it work?

Abigail: I don't know. He's still thinking about it.

Jennifer: Okay. Look, thanks for telling me.

Abigail: Mom, that's not what I wanted to talk to you about.

Jennifer: Okay, what is it?

Kayla: You have every right to be with Jenn. And that boy needs to stop what he's doing and comparing you to Jack--

Daniel: Okay, hey, I get it. He misses his dad, and nobody, nobody measures up.

Kayla: But you are not a monster. And Jack-- Jack was just--well, he was just all too human.

Daniel: Kayla, what is it? What--

Kayla: You know, I'm late for work.

Rory: Okay, we are all set, dude. It's, like, Jessie's cousin's friend's place sun room. Has a futon and a sleeping bag. But it will be dry. Are you reading a book?

JJ: Yeah, my dad wrote it, you know.

Rory: Yeah?

JJ: Yeah. Yeah, it comes out this week. It's about his time in Afghanistan.

Rory: Whoa. Well, that's intense. That explains it.

JJ: What?

Rory: The look.

JJ: [Laughs] Nah, it's just--

Rory: What?

JJ: Something happened when my dad was alive, dude.

Rory: Okay.

JJ: No, it's not, man. I don't--I don't know what went down, but it was definitely not okay.

Rory: Only you don't know what?

JJ: Not yet, but I'll find out.

Abigail: JJ's asking a lot of questions about dad.

Jennifer: Well, I mean, that's not really surprising. You know, with his book coming out and--

Abigail: No, um-- JJ's asking questions about dad and aunt Kayla.
