Episode #12107 ~ Nicole and Brady try to hide the truth from Eric; Sami is hypnotized.

Provided By Suzanne

Daniel: Okay, that's fine with us. We'd all be better off if--

Hope: Daniel, believe me, I'm sorry we pulled the guard.

Daniel: Okay, I-I meant nothing by--

Hope: No, it's okay, it's okay.

Daniel: So, Sami said she was defending Rafe when she fired. Is that--

Hope: Can't talk about an open investigation. You know that.

Daniel: Right.

Hope: What time are you bringing Rafe out of the coma?

Daniel: Well, that would be a change of plans there, because that's not happening today.

EJ: Good news. We have you a lawyer.

Sami: You--you found someone?

EJ: Mm-hmm. We did. Justin is going to take the case.

Sami: [Sighs]

Marlena: Thank God.

Sami: Thank you.

EJ: So now, did we hear anything from the hospital? Did they find the knife?

Abe: Not yet.

Sami: They have to find it. If they don't find it, I'm dead.

Marlena: No, you're not.

EJ: It's okay.

Marlena: She has a defense, does she not?

EJ: Absolutely. Of course she does.

Marlena: Of course, of course. The only motive she had for shooting Bernardi was to protect Rafe.

Chad: It's him. It's the same guy.

Abigail: Oh, my God. That's the man that Sami killed.

Nicole: [Moans]

[Phone ringing]

Brady: Oh.

Nicole: No, no, no.

Brady: Oh, no.

Nicole: No, no, no, no, no. Come on.

Brady: Eh, it could be about Sami. I've gotta get it. [Sighs]

[Phone continues ringing]

Brady: It's Eric. [Sighs] Hey, Eric. Uh, any word on Sami?

Eric: No, where are you?

Brady: I'm at home, why?

Eric: Because I've been outside for five minutes ringing the bell.

Brady: You're outside here?

Eric: Yes, I'm outsi--where are you, the dungeon? Come on, man, come and open the door. I need to talk to you.

Brady: [Sighs]

Dr. Chyka: Everything all right? Then, are you ready to proceed?

Kristen: I am.

Dr. Chyka: I give you the answer to your problems.

Hope: What's wrong? I thought Rafe was recovering.

Daniel: Well, he is. That's not the problem. It's what he would wake up to.

Hope: You mean the shooting.

Daniel: Yeah. On top of what he still doesn't know about Jensen shooting will, Gabi's having the baby, all of that stuff. And I actually spoke with Gabi, and she agreed that, you know, he would be agitated, wanting to take care of her, putting his body under too much stress.

Hope: And now that Sami's been arrested--

Daniel: Yeah, Rafe would be all over that.

Hope: Yeah, you got that right.

Daniel: Yeah.

EJ: [Clears throat]

Sir, you have an urgent call.

Abe: Oh, fine. Excuse me.

EJ: How's the breathing, hmm? Did you see a doctor?

Marlena: Doctor?

Sami: I canceled the doctor. I'm fine.

EJ: Okay.

Marlena: Why would you need a doctor?

EJ: Samantha was attacked in her cell earlier.

Marlena: Oh, my God! What's going on here?

EJ: Marlena, we've taken steps to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Roman: You okay?

Sami: Yes, dad, I'm fine.

Roman: All right. We're gonna find out who did this and make damn sure he's sorry he did it, okay? But right now, come with me. I need a full report.

Sami: I told Abe everything that happened.

Roman: We're filing formal charges, so I need every detail, okay? All right, come on.

Marlena: I will be here when you get back, sweetie.

Sami: Okay.

EJ: I, uh, have to make a quick telephone call myself. If you'll excuse me.

Marlena: Not so fast. I'd like to know what you're going to do about this.

EJ: I'm doing everything I can to help your daughter. I just can't--

Marlena: That's not what I mean. She's here because of one person... Stefano.

Brady: Eric, is there any way this can wait?

Eric: [Laughs] No. Listen, I wouldn't show up unless it was important.

Brady: All right, I'll be right there.

Nicole: Oh.

Brady: Unbelievable.

Nicole: Holy--what-- he doesn't know I'm here, right? He can't know I'm here.

Brady: Where did you park?

Nicole: Oh. Uh, behind the house.

Brady: All right, that's good because he--he wouldn't know you were here, because he's out front.

Nicole: Okay, good. Brady?

Brady: What?

Nicole: You can't, um--

Brady: I can't what? Tell him? You think I'm crazy? I'm not gonna tell him. Hell, no.

Nicole: I mean, okay, not-- not that you couldn't--I mean-- not for the reasons that you think. I just--

Brady: Listen--look, I know-- I know things are complicated between you two, to say the least, so, um--I don't want to make things more difficult.

Nicole: Okay, thank you. And for the record, look, I know Eric wouldn't love this for you and he would give you the whole rebound speech, and--

Brady: Yeah, he probably would, so are you--are you ready? Are you good?

Nicole: No, no, not quite. I'm not--why don't you go? I'll take the--the back stairs down and go out through the kitchen, okay?

Brady: All right, good idea. Hey, hey.

Nicole: Hmm?

Brady: Shoes! Shoes.

Nicole: Shoes.

Brady: Hey, hey.

Nicole: What?

Brady: I like you so much.

Nicole: I like you so much more. Go!

Brady: Go.

Nicole: Go. Go, go, go. [Chuckles] Where's my purse?

Eric: Well, hey!

Brady: Hey, uh, sorry, man. I couldn't hear the bell from upstairs, and the staff is off for the day.

Eric: No, that's okay. Wh--what were you doing?

Nicole: [Sighs] Damn it! Great, it's probably downstairs. And my keys are in my purse, downstairs! I can't leave. Oh, my God, I can't leave. All right, maybe--maybe I could text Brady. I could text him. Right, I could ask him to get my phone that's in my purse. Damn it! Damn it, damn it, damn it. Oh, please--please let it be out of sight. I know, I know I'm not supposed to ask for anything, I know that, but please, please do not let Eric see my purse. [Laughs nervously]

Brady: Um, I was--I was taking a nap. I haven't been able to sleep a lot lately, you know?

Eric: Well, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you.

Brady: It's not a problem.

Eric: Well, have you heard from Kristen? I'm sure you haven't called her yourself.

Brady: No. I mean, don't--don't worry about it. Honestly, I, um--I don't even want to talk about it. Is that why you came here?

Eric: No, I-I need a favor.

Brady: Oh. Yeah, yeah, sure. What's up?

Eric: Well, it's the school. Some pencil pushers in the capitol are withholding our permits. There's a chance that we might open late, or we might not even be able to open at all.

Brady: That's ridiculous. I mean, considering all the, uh--all the work you've done.

Eric: Yeah, well, forget about that. It's all about the kids who already enrolled. It's just that the state doesn't even have anyplace else for them to go, and they'd be completely like--

Brady: No. No. No, no!

Eric: "No" what? What's wrong?

Chad: Come on, come on, come on, come on.

Abigail: Wait, Chad. Stop! Listen to me. I'm right, aren't I? That's Sami fighting with the guy that she shot.

Chad: Yeah, it looks that way.

Abigail: Where did you get this?

Chad: I took it.

Abigail: What?

Chad: I mean, I was--I was filming a friend in the square last month, and I saw Sami run through after this guy, yelling at him, being all Sami. I thought it was funny, so I followed her. Figured it would be like a blooper reel for her birthday or something.

Abigail: That did not look funny. That looked intense.

Chad: Yeah, I mean, it got that way. By the end, she was really ripping into the guy.

Abigail: Wait, I think you told me about this, right? A couple weeks ago. That--that video that was... vintage psycho Sami. Oh, my God.

Chad: Yep, she totally went off on him, and I thought it was hilarious at the time.

Abigail: Only now, she's killed him.

Sami: All I could see was the hand over my mouth, holding me against the bars. I-I couldn't even look down.

Roman: Okay, do you remember anything? Anything about a tat--a tattoo, anything? How about the sleeve? Did it look like a uniform?

Sami: Dad, I was freaking out. I couldn't breathe, okay? All I could think was that I was about to pass out, and then the next thing I know, the guard found me.

Hope: You were attacked here in your cell?

Roman: Yeah, yeah. We're questioning the day shift down in interrogation five. Anything new from the hospital?

Sami: Yes, did you find the knife?

Hope: Sami, we went over the room, everything that went in and out of it--and the air ducts.

Sami: Please, don't give up, aunt hope. I wouldn't just shoot an unarmed man. I didn't. I was saving Rafe.

Hope: Sami, we'll keep looking.

Roman: Hey, don't worry, okay? It may take time, but we won't give up.

Sami: I don't have time! Someone tried to kill me, dad. If I go back down there, they may succeed.

Roman: No, no. That's not gonna happen. I promise you that. I will promise you that.

Sami: Daddy, please, please understand. I just want to go home, okay? I just want to go home to my kids.

Marlena: Stefano knew about the affair between Kate and Rafe, didn't he?

EJ: Yes.

Marlena: So he's behind this. His ego couldn't bear having Rafe get away with it.

EJ: Look, Marlena, we don't have any evidence that would support that statement.

Marlena: Don't play a lawyer with me, please. I think we both know what happened here.

EJ: Yes, probably.

Marlena: Hmm. You've been with Sami, how long? Two months? Now she's in jail, because she tried to stop your father from killing someone.

EJ: It's not that simple.

Marlena: It never is. But somehow, it always ends the same--somebody in my family gets shredded because somebody in your family used them and spit them out.

EJ: Eh, I'm not my family.

Marlena: You may think not, but they are yours.

EJ: Look, Marlena, I realize you've been through a very challenging time lately, but please avoid putting your problems in a pile and casting sweeping judgments against me.

Marlena: Do you really love my daughter?

EJ: More than my life.

Marlena: Make this go away.

EJ: I will. I promise.

Kristen: How does it work?

Chyka: The first vial affects the patient as we discussed.

Kristen: And this one?

Chyka: Finishes the job.

Kristen: You're absolutely positive that they are untraceable?

Chyka: Of course. My life and reputation depends on it as much as yours.

Kristen: And you've been doing this a very, very long time, correct?

Chyka: Yes.

Kristen: I feel better already.

Chyka: That's my goal.

Kristen: This might be exactly the cure that I'm looking for. Enough about the book, I want to hear about your date.

Chad: Okay, sit down. Sit down, right now. I'm sure there's a good explanation.

Abigail: Oh, right.

Chad: It--it was Sami protecting Rafe.

Abigail: So says Sami.

Chad: Abigail, just--

Abigail: Chad, we have to take this to the police. We have a responsibility here.

Chad: What? No way. She's EJ's fiancée. You don't do that.

Abigail: Oh, what, so you just suppress evidence instead?

Chad: We don't know that it's evidence. Look, you want to make things worse for Sami? For will's mom, really?

Abigail: No. No, I don't, okay? But, Chad, if you saw Sami, then somebody else probably did too.

Chad: I have to find EJ. Promise me you won't tell anyone about this until I do, okay?

Abigail: Okay. Fine, I-I won't say anything. But you cannot sit on this, Chad.

Roman: Abe, did you get anything from the day shift?

Abe: Yeah, everyone is accounted for.

Roman: All right, well, start in on the off-duty officers.

Hope: What about the contractors, janitorial staff?

Roman: Okay, good call. Pull in our undercovers...

Abe: Uh, Roman...

Roman: Anybody who could have gotten in that door unchallenged.

Abe: That--that won't be--

Roman: I'll take over the questioning.

Abe: You can't.

Roman: What the hell do you mean, I can't? I'm the police commissioner.

Abe: Not anymore. You've been relieved of duty, as of right now.

Brady: No, I mean I'm, you know--no, it can't happen. The kids, right?

Eric: Well, that's kind of why I'm going to the capitol tonight. I have a--I have a meeting with two bureaucrats who are kind of having this turf war, withholding our permits. I don't know, I just really hate to leave. Especially with what's going on with Sami, I just--the school could be in jeopardy if I don't.

Brady: Right, oh, no, no, no. I-I understand.

Eric: [Sighs] I just would like the whole family, just, I don't know--

Brady: No, listen, hey--don't worry about the family. I will look out for 'em.

Eric: You and Sami talking?

Brady: Yeah, last time I checked.

Eric: Well, I have my phone, if you need anything.

Brady: Okay. Honestly, I'm--I'm on it.

Eric: All right, only if you're up to it, because I know Kristen kind of knocked you for a loop.

Brady: No, no, no, listen-- don't! Don't--don't worry about it.

Eric: Well, you're kind of still a little bit rattled, and you know what? You don't have to put on a show for me.

Brady: I'm not putting on a show for you. Honestly, I'm fine.

Eric: But you know what? You're not yourself, and that's okay. I mean, I know you're going through a rough time, but you're gonna heal, all right? You're--listen, you're gonna move on someday.

Brady: You're right. I probably will.

Kristen: Paid in full.

Chyka: Ms. DiMera, I make it a point to deal with people who are calm, measured, in full control.

Kristen: Do I seem out of control to you? Doctor, I was just left in a heap on the same floor by a second generation of men from the same family, one of whom was the love of my life. Both of those men are still breathing, and this house hasn't burned to the ground. I've been very restrained. Now, I have chosen my target carefully, and they will feel the full sting of an ugly, vengeful, yet richly deserved justice. I'll be in touch. Oh, you get ready, Marlena. You thought that karma was a bitch? Mm, just wait until you meet payback.

Chad: I don't know. Sami and Bernardi cut through the square pretty fast. And when I followed them and recorded it, there was no one else around.

Abigail: You can't be sure of that, Chad.

Chad: Yeah, and if someone else goes to the police first-- I gotta find EJ, okay?

Abigail: [Sighs]

Chad: What?

Abigail: Sami...could she have planned to kill Bernardi?

Chad: No, no, I don't-- I don't think so. I don't--I don't know. I'll see what EJ has to say, okay?

Abigail: I'm coming with you. I'm coming with you.

Chad: Okay, all right. Let's go.

[Door opens, closes]

EJ: Father! Have you seen father?

Kristen: Why? No, he's not here.

EJ: Where did he go?

Kristen: Uh, I'm not sure.

EJ: Then when is he coming back?

Kristen: Judging from the size of his suitcase, I--

EJ: What?

Kristen: He left town this morning.

EJ: Of course he did, because he knew I would be looking for him.

Kristen: Is this about the Sami thing?

EJ: What did he say about Samantha?

Kristen: Nothing. I'm just guessing. I mean, he had such a clear motive to want Rafe dead. I'm sure even the Salem P.D. Couldn't miss that one. I know that's what he was thinking.

EJ: He's gonna pay for what he did.

Kristen: [Chuckles] No, he's not. You know as well as I do, he's not gonna pay.

EJ: Well, he may not go to prison--

Kristen: But? Hmm. So, your fiancée is a damn good shot. Lots of practice, huh? I'm sorry. I know you love her and everything. I'm sorry she got herself into such a huge mess.

EJ: She did not get herself into any mess. Father did.

Kristen: EJ, what father did would have helped you. I mean, not that that was his motive or anything, but if Bernardi had killed Rafe, well then, you'd be upstairs right now wiping Sami's nose and helping her pick out a little black dress to wear to the funeral of your nemesis, who you'd be watching being dumped down into a deep, dark hole. Tell me the thought hasn't crossed your mind.

EJ: Kristen, Rafe Hernandez is not any kind of threat to me, dead or alive.

Kristen: [Clears throat] What was Sami doing in his room again?

EJ: I don't know! She was checking to see how he was, for the children, for William.

Kristen: The whole, wide world. Well, I certainly hope that her concern doesn't get her locked up for a long, long time.

Sami: You can't do this to my dad.

Abe: I didn't.

Hope: But--was it the mayor?

Roman: Hell, I'll call him.

Abe: No, no, look, I wouldn't do that. It's a temporary leave, Roman. It makes sense. You--you're just too close.

Roman: So is half the damn force! What, are you gonna pull hope off this too?

Abe: No, she can stay, with close supervision.

Hope: Oh, my God. Are you kidding me?

Abe: [Clears throat] Now, hope, the mayor's office is in a bind. I mean, look--look at the press you had to walk through even to get in the building.

Hope: Yeah, it--it's a tabloid field day. You know, I can see the headlines right now, "commissioner's daughter shoots a decorated cop in a hospital room."

Sami: Daddy, I'm so sorry.

Roman: Hey, hey.

Sami: I'm so sorry.

Roman: No, no, no, no.

Sami: I can't believe how--

Roman: No, it's not your fault. You did what you had to do. Besides, you heard Abe. It's temporary.

Hope: Where are we holding her?

Abe: In the conference room.

Hope: Come on, Sami.

Sami: I'll see you soon?

Roman: You bet, you bet. I can still visit.

Sami: [Laughs] Okay.

Roman: Okay? All right. Hang in there.

Sami: I'm sorry, dad.

Roman: Honey, hang in there, okay?

Abe: Look, um...I'm sorry too.

Roman: Hey, it's not your fault, all right? I'm not gonna shoot the messenger. But tell me, who is the mayor sending down? Which lackey is he sending down to take over my job? He'll need a report.

Abe: That would be me.

Eric: In case you can't reach my cell, why don't I give you the hotel information?

Brady: Uh, hey, hey! Come here, come here.

Eric: [Strained] Okay, yeah.

Brady: Listen, I want to say something to you. I'm sorry.

Eric: For what?

Brady: For being an ass, you know? I, uh--I was an ass, and you deserve better.

Eric: Man, don't start that. We all mess up.

Brady: You--but you don't alienate your family when they're trying to help you, and I did that.

Eric: Brady, forget about it. You're back. Hey, you know what? Why don't we catch a cubs game when I get home?

Brady: I would love that. I would love that.

Eric: Okay.

Brady: All right. [Chuckling]

Eric: That's Nicole's purse, isn't it?

Brady: What are you, uh-- oh, yeah. That is Nicole's purse. She--she left it here earlier. She came by to check up on me, and--if you could return that to her, I'd be appreciative. What?

Eric: I don't know, you tell me. Wh--what's wrong?

Brady: Wait, with me? I mean, well what, besides my life falling apart?

Eric: Yeah, besides that.

[Doorbell rings]

Brady: Hold that thought. Hey, Nicole, how you doing?

Both: Hi.

Nicole: Brady, did I leave my purse here earlier?

Brady: You sure did, yeah!

Nicole: Yeah? Oh, okay.

Brady: It's right in there on the--on the chair.

Nicole: Thank you. Hey!

Eric: Nicole, hey.

Nicole: Oh, hi.

Eric: And I'm glad I got to run into you before I left.

Nicole: Thanks. You left? Where--where are you going? Going somewhere?

Eric: Um, yeah. I mean, you were right. I'm--I've gotta take care of the school, so I'm going to the capitol. But there are some things that I'd like to go over with you at the rectory before I leave. Do you have time?

Nicole: Uh, yeah, sure. Um, let's go. Sorry for the mix-up.

Brady: No, no problem, no problem. I'll see you out. Okay.

Nicole: Uh, I'll be right there.

Brady: Oh, gosh. Whew. [Laughs] Wha--hey!

Daniel: Hey.

Brady: [Laughs] I gotta get those locks changed.

Daniel: Yeah. [Laughs] Wow, you're in a good mood. What finally put a smile on your face?

Brady: Mm.

Roman: Sorry I referred to you as "lackey." Hey, I'm gonna give my job to anybody, it's you.

Abe: And for the record, I turned the mayor down the first three times he asked.

Roman: No, I mean that. I'm glad it's you. You can keep them from railroading Sami.

Abe: We'll do it by the book.

Roman: Abe, if we don't find that knife, Sami is in big trouble.

Marlena: I suppose that's for the best, but Roman must be beside himself.

Hope: Ooh, that is an understatement.

Sami: Where is EJ?

Marlena: He had to take care of something.

Hope: Sami, let's go over the shooting one more time. I know. But we need to get the details right.

Sami: I don't know what else I can say. I've told you the story a million times, it hasn't changed.

Hope: No, actually, it changes every time. Some variation is normal, but if you spit back the same story in the same words, it looks suspicious. But your facts change.

Sami: I'm not lying.

Hope: I'm not saying that you are. We need to get a clear picture here.

Marlena: Well, what's missing?

Hope: Well, first she said that Bernardi had a knife, then she said it looked like a knife. One time she said she saw a blade flash.

Marlena: Honey, what was it?

Sami: I don't know! I don't know. It took three seconds, the whole thing.

Hope: I understand, but it's important.

Sami: I'm doing the best I can.

Marlena: I have an idea.

EJ: You're a constant source of comfort to me, Kristen.

Kristen: I'm sorry. I really am. I'm lousy at that, you know? I'm concerned about you... and Sami.

EJ: She did a good thing, Kristen. She saved a man's life, as any decent person would have done, and I will prove that.

Kristen: Of course you will. Can I help?

EJ: Really? It's taking just about every ounce of self-restraint you have not to gloat.

Kristen: That's not true. Am I unhappy that Marlena is suffering after what she's done to me? No. Do you blame me?

EJ: She lost her husband. Her daughter is in jail.

Kristen: I know. It's a start.

EJ: Okay, you know, actually, you can do something for me. It would be enormously helpful if you and every other member of this family could leave her family members alone. Just forget about Marlena, okay? You had your little Victory, her and john are no longer together, so make somebody else your next target.

Kristen: Target? I wouldn't put it exactly like that.

EJ: Well, however it is that you would like to put it.

Kristen: Well, like you said, she is already suffering, right?

EJ: Yeah.

Kristen: Fine.

EJ: Okay, so let's just leave it alone, shall we?

[Phone ringing]

EJ: Oh, for God's sake. Listen, I have to go. Just--if you hear anything from father--

Kristen: I will tell him that you are looking for him.

EJ: Thank you.

Kristen: Aww. Bye. [Sighs] Are you kidding me?

[Door opens, closes]

Kristen: Marlena's suffering is just beginning.

Abigail: Did EJ say he was on his way?

Chad: Yeah, yeah. Listen, go ahead and take off, okay? I'll tell you everything he says, I promise.

Abigail: Um, no, thank you. I think I will stay.

Chad: Okay, suit yourself.

Abigail: That was way too easy.

Chad: Look, I'm just worried that you're involved in this, but since you are, maybe it's better if you do stay.

Abigail: Why, so you can keep an eye on me? You don't trust me, do you?

Chad: Eh, genetic hazard.

Abigail: Seriously?

Chad: Abigail, I trust you more than anyone I have ever known, okay? Including my family.

Eric: You can hold off on this one until I get back.

Nicole: Okay, but I'm still gonna draft up a fund-raising letter just so we have it ready.

Eric: Okay, perfect. You know, one last thing.

Nicole: Uh, sure.

Eric: I'm sorry. I'm sorry for the stuff I said about Sami, and the school stuff, and--don't tell me you already forgot.

Nicole: I did. Well, sort of.

Eric: Bull!

Nicole: [Laughs] Okay, I didn't, all right? But don't sweat it! It was almost half my fault.

Eric: Half?

Nicole: Right, 10%. I was being charitable. I should know better than to tell you the truth as I see it about Sami. Ooh. Back up to half, sorry.

Eric: Mm. Well, I'm glad you're back.

Nicole: I am.

Eric: Well, I don't expect you to look in after Sami while I'm gone, but if you could just check in with Brady. I don't know what you said to him today, but it definitely helped.

Nicole: I-I really didn't say anything.

Eric: Well, whatever you did, keep doing it.

Brady: You know, Victor is gone for the day.

Daniel: Oh, I know, I know. I'm just here to check on you.

Brady: Check on me. Yeah, people need to stop doing that.

Daniel: Yeah, well, you took a hit. Your friends want to help you out. Hell, I was supposed to be your best man, and I still really don't know what happened here.

Brady: Yeah, I wonder that myself, Daniel.

Daniel: What, do you think it was a mistake?

Brady: Calling off the wedding? No. No--hell, no. I mean, did--you talked to Victor, right? Do you know what happened?

Daniel: Yeah, well, I know Victor's version, and that Kristen has fangs, horn, and a tail. But what's your version?

Brady: Uh, no tail. Everything else, yeah.

Daniel: Yeah, really?

Brady: She's a user. She's a liar. No more. She will never hurt my family or me ever again.

[Phone chimes]

Kristen: "Karina, I've been thinking about the conversation that we had this morning, and I must make myself perfectly clear. I forbid you to physically hurt Marlena in any way." [Laughs] Now that's funny.

Marlena: Sami, if you can hear me, raise your finger. Good. Look in front of you. There's a staircase with ten steps. There's a door at the bottom. Go down the steps. Let me know when you get to the door.

Sami: I'm there.

Marlena: Good. When you open the door, you're going to be in the hospital room before you fired the gun. Everything is going to be in slow motion. Every moment moves so slowly that you can see what we need. During the entire process, you are going to be completely safe. It's going to be like watching a movie for you. Okay, slowly open the door and tell me what you see.

Sami: I'm in the bathroom, getting a cold washcloth.

Marlena: Why?

Sami: Rafe. His face was hot. I wanted to help. Cold water on my hands and the towel. I had a headache. Went to my purse for some aspirin and pulled out the gun.

Marlena: What just happened?

Sami: A noise. Somebody is in the room.

Marlena: Okay. Slowly, turn around and tell me what you see.

Sami: A man. A shape. He's standing over Rafe. He raises his arm. I raise my arm and he--

Marlena: Okay, okay. Slow it down. We're going to back up the tape, take it frame by frame. You see a figure in the room.

Sami: Yes.

Marlena: He raises his arm.

Sami: Yes.

Marlena: Look at his arm. Focus on his hand. What is it?

Sami: Oh, my God.

Marlena: Tell me what you see.

Sami: He doesn't have a knife.

EJ: Chad. You said this was urgent and to keep quiet.

Chad: Yeah, um, Abigail is part of it. We can--we can trust her, okay?

EJ: With what?

Chad: Uh--

EJ: Look, eh--

Chad: Just--

EJ: Do you have any idea what's going on with Samantha? I don't have time to watch...

Chad: Just--just--watch. Please.

EJ: Video. Who took this?

Chad: I did.

EJ: Who else has seen it?

Chad: Just Abigail.

EJ: And why did you feel compelled to show it to Abigail?

Abigail: He didn't show it to me. I saw it over his shoulder. Why do you feel so compelled to be rude to your brother, EJ? He found this video, and he insisted that we come to you first.

EJ: First?

Chad: Okay, what's going on, EJ? She knew the guy, and you weren't surprised.

EJ: I can assure you, I had absolutely no idea about--

Chad: About the video? I watched you. You knew that Sami knew Bernardi.

EJ: Chad, this has absolutely nothing to do with what happened in the hospital.

Abigail: Really?

EJ: It was dark. Samantha was defending Rafe. She couldn't see the person who she shot. She certainly had no idea that her assailant was this man.

Chad: Well, she'd fought the guy before.

EJ: They had a little misunderstanding. It's over.

Chad: [Laughs] Oh, so Sami never holds a grudge?

EJ: The matter is settled.

Abigail: Okay, so if it's settled then I guess the video can't hurt anything, right?

Chad: Oh, sure it can. It looks like premeditation, right? Like Sami knew the guy and wanted him dead.

Marlena: No, no, no. Calm down. Double your relaxation. You're doing fine.'re looking at Bernardi's hand.

Sami: Yes.

Marlena: He doesn't have a knife.

Sami: No.

Marlena: Is his hand empty?

Sami: No.

Marlena: So he's holding something.

Sami: Yes.

Marlena: I want you to zoom in, like a camera lens. Can you do that?

Sami: I have a gun. I have to save Rafe.

Marlena: It's not going to happen in this moment. Stay with me. Look at Bernardi's hand. Tell me what you see.

Sami: It flashes in the light. It--it's metal. It's a razor. Oh, my God, I see it. It's a razor.

EJ: How do you turn the volume up?

Chad: Uh, you can't, because audio was off.

EJ: So there's really no way of knowing what she's saying.

Chad: Uh, yelling. You can look at the end.

EJ: [Clears throat] Well, thank you both for bringing this to me.

Chad: Wait, you're just gonna keep my phone?

EJ: Look, I need you both to trust me.

Abigail: Oh, my God, you want to bury this, don't you?

EJ: This? This cannot get out. So I'm going to have to ask you both to keep your mouths shut.

Kristen: Don't worry, father. I'm not gonna hurt your precious Marlena. At least not physically.

Daniel: Look, wh--so Kristen, uh, admitted all of that?

Brady: Yeah. But I'm supposed to forget all about it because now--get this-- now...she's finally in love with me.

Daniel: And that happened when?

Brady: About the same time the cops knocked on her door and took her in for questioning.

Daniel: Wow. Well, it doesn't sound like Kristen is giving up on you.

Brady: I made it very clear to her, Daniel, that it was over. Never again, no way.

Daniel: But?

Brady: I've come to realize, I have no idea what goes on in Kristen's head.

Kristen: In the end, I couldn't destroy john's son. But I have absolutely no qualms about Marlena's.

Eric: Well...wish me luck.

Nicole: You don't need it. You're gonna be fine. Everything is gonna work out.
