Kate: I hope you like the color.
Abigail: What do you say when we're done here, we come up with a special dessert? All on our own.
Cameron: Well, how hungry are you?
Brady: Because you're the woman I'm counting on to get the job done, that's why. Just tell them Brady Black won't take no for an answer. That should do it. Okay. Sorry, listen, I have another call. Get back to me. Daniel, hey. What's up? No, I just wanted to confirm that you and Jennifer were gonna stand up for us at the wedding. That's great. That's great. I know Kristen appreciates it just as much as I do, buddy. Absolutely. No, everything's-- everything's going well. I just have one more invitation to hand out. In person.
Eric: What do you mean Vargas isn't who I think he is? Nicole, talk to me. What's going on?
Vargas: I went from one prison to another, and I am stuck here until you deliver. Do not disappoint me.
Eric: Did that man do something to you?
Maggie: Hi, honey.
Gabi: Hi. Is Nick here?
Maggie: Uh, yeah, he's up in your room.
Nick: No, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. I--the $30,000 is here. I put it here. I know I did. This is Vargas'-- this is Vargas's money. The $30,000. [Grunts] [Exhales] [Exhales] Where is the damn money? [Exhales]
Sami: [Clears throat] What is this?
Kate: An 8-millimeter.
Sami: Kate, are you insane?
Kate: Sami, come on. You have to admit it's the perfect gift for someone marrying into the DiMera family.
Rafe: [Chuckles] Well, look at you.
EJ: [Laughs] I know.
Rafe: Yeah. You're coming off a little bit insecure. All right, listen. Come on, man. You already gave her the ring, you moved her into the mansion, and yet all I had to do was mention the fact that Sami and I talked, and you're freaking out.
EJ: Look at you. You're completely misinterpreting, which is, of course, as usual.
Rafe: Am I? Okay, well, listen. Just so you don't misinterpret, I'm gonna tell you the exact same thing that I told her, which is, uh, I'm done. I'm out. I am gone for good. If hell freezes over, I still want nothing to do with Sami Brady. Clear enough?
Nicole: No. No, Vargas didn't-- it-- it wasn't like that. The stuff you... walked in on was totally consensual, okay? And--and there was just kissing, I swear. Nothing else happened. There were no hands or anything.
Eric: Why don't we just stick to what you meant about Vargas not being who he seems to be?
Nicole: I'm sorry. You're right. Stay on point. It's just that you have this prison release program, and your good name is attached to it, and sometimes people will take advantage.
Eric: Vargas. Okay, what happened to make you think that?
Vargas: What do you think Father Eric's gonna say when he finds out that the name you call out during sex is his? Huh?
Eric: Nicole? Is there something that I should know about Vargas? Because if there is, I want you to tell me.
Sami: [Chuckles] I know what you're doing, Kate, and frankly, it's a little pathetic. If I actually cared about you, I would feel sorry for you.
Kate: Sami, all I've done is offer you a gift.
Sami: Are you serious? I can't believe you, Kate. What has happened to you? You used to believe in romance and marriage and true love, and--and that's the truth. EJ and I actually love each other.
Kate: Oh, okay. Well, I'm not even going to begin to challenge that delusion. Look, just accept the weapon. Say thank you. My granddaughter lives in that house, so there's a child safety lock. Make sure you use it.
Sami: No. No, I won't use it. I don't want your present.
Kate: Sami, there are other people coming in and out of that house besides your precious EJ. And maybe you don't need to defend yourself against him, not yet, but there is Stefano. There are his mistresses and his minions and the countless enemies that he has made over the years. Believe me-- a woman needs to always protect herself.
Sami: I don't need protection, okay? From anyone.
Nick: [Grunting] [Breathing heavily] Where the hell? Where could it be? $30,000 just doesn't disappear. Oh... God. [Exhales] Oh, God. Somebody was here. They stole it. And now they're gonna pay.
Nicole: Actually, you know what? I-I shouldn't have said anything. I-it's just a feeling I had.
Eric: And would that feeling have anything to do with that little romance that flared up between you and Vargas and went bad?
Nicole: Look... [Scoffs] Eric, what I--what I was gonna say, it's--it's not important. So I--
[Drawer slides shut]
Nicole: All right, fine. I don't care. I've already humiliated myself as it is, and I'm sure you think poorly of me, so I'm just gonna say it. I'm gonna say it. I--
Brady: Uh, I'm sorry. Hi.
Nicole: Hi, Brady.
Eric: Hey, Brady.
Brady: Listen, uh, I was hoping to get a couple minutes with you. I didn't mean to interrupt, but--
Eric: Well, actually, Nicole was about to tell me something, so if you could just give us a few more minutes--
Nicole: Uh, it's okay. It's okay. It really-- it really wasn't that important, so it's no big deal. So--
Abigail: Thank you.
Cameron: Thank you. [Clears throat] Uh, have you ever worked at a restaurant?
Abigail: Mm. Uh, yes, one day, actually, at the Brady pub when you gave a hand to Caroline.
Abigail: And I was offering help to you.
Abigail: But that wasn't really--that wasn't really working. That was more just fun, you know?
Cameron: Yeah, it was.
Abigail: It was. What about you?
Cameron: I did, actually. I worked at a restaurant when I was in college.
Cameron: Mm-hmm. Uh... [Clears throat] Yeah, I started as a dishwasher, worked my way up to a bus boy, and then finally to a waiter.
Cameron: Yeah, it helped me pay off my tuition. [Clears throat] You know, it's funny how bills just never stop coming.
Cameron: Yeah. And--and still they haven't. [Chuckles]
[Cell phone rings]
Cameron: Oh. I'm sorry, hold on.
Abigail: Yeah, go ahead.
Cameron: Hello? No, no, not tonight. No, no can do. I'm sorry. Sorry, Lenny. No.
[Country rock music playing]
Abigail: That was the club, right? They want you to come in tonight?
Maggie: Oh, and there's Allie, checking out the pink roses.
Gabi: Oh, my God, that smile.
Gabi: She's beautiful.
Maggie: Looks so much like her mom, doesn't she?
Maggie: Yeah. Yeah!
Gabi: Oh, hey.
Gabi: I just got home. After I saw you at the spa, I stopped by the pub and got something to eat with Mrs. Brady.
Nick: [Laughs] Oh.
Maggie: And now we're looking at photos of Allie's visit today. Wanna see?
Nick: Oh, yeah, s-- wait, Lucas was here?
Maggie: Uh, yeah, yeah. Uh, he and Sami brought Allie over for a visit. And so I was showing off the garden. Allie loves flowers. Nick?
Maggie: You want something-- something to drink?
Nick: How come Sami's not in any of these pictures?
Maggie: Well, um, she was starved, so she stayed inside and ate. Um, and I guess she must have gotten a call from the office because she was gone when we came back inside.
Gabi: Baby, are you okay?
Nick: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm totally fine. There's just something important that I have to go do. But I'll see you guys later. All right?
Kate: Someday you're going to thank me for this little gift. I'm never wrong about these things, you know.
Sami: Kate Roberts is never wrong?
Kate: I can testify that when I lived in the DiMera mansion, hardly a day went by that I didn't wish I had a gun or a bazooka or a flame thrower.
Sami: EJ isn't Stefano.
Kate: And you're not me. But things tend to go wrong in that house. Get yourself an egg timer. See how long it takes.
Sami: Kate, please. Just take this damn thing. Take it with you.
Kate: It's a gift. Best wishes. Just try not to shoot your future husband... again.
EJ: Look at you. So vehement Samantha's out of your life.
Rafe: You said you wanted a straight answer.
EJ: Didn't get one, though, really, did I? I'm not quite sure if you're lying to yourself or if you're lying to me. But it doesn't really matter. Look, Rafe, I do understand that you and Samantha will always have some sort of connection, as you were married. As for whether I like it or you like it--
Rafe: You know what? You know what? You can keep talking all night if you want, but I'm outta here.
EJ: When does Johnny get his FBI jacket? He asks about it every day. And I know that you don't want him to think that your promises don't mean anything to him.
Rafe: Okay. Can you just keep the kids out of this?
EJ: Oh, I wish I could, but no, I can't, Rafe, because they love you, and they admire you. So please don't punish them to get back at Samantha.
Rafe: Well, I would never do that.
EJ: You leaving Salem anytime soon?
EJ: Okay. Well, then, it looks like you're going to be around my family for the foreseeable future. Fair warning-- do not make me out to be some sort of bad guy in my boy's eyes.
Rafe: Well, I'm sure that Johnny is capable of seeing that all by himself.
Cameron: Well, there's a bachelorette party going down tonight, and they're short a guy, and they wanted me there. But, you know, they'll find somebody else. It's no big deal. [Clears throat]
Cameron: Yeah, just, you know, forget about it. Well, that phone call sure spoiled things, didn't it? [Chuckles]
Abigail: No, it's fine.
Cameron: Well, it feels like you moved three feet away.
Cameron: I mean, we were doing great, and then, I mean, why did that phone call change everything?
Abigail: It's just--
Cameron: Come on. I can't guess what's inside your head.
Abigail: Well, it's embarrassing.
Cameron: Just tell me anyway.
Abigail: Okay. I'm still-- [Sighs] Okay. I'm out right now with a guy who has women pawing at him three to four nights a week and pushing bills into his-- his pants. And I get that it's just your job, Cameron, but... I just-- I--never mind. I don't know how I feel.
Cameron: No, you're right. You're right. These women get worked up and crazy.
Cameron: Yeah, and throw themselves at me. But if I wanted to be with any of them, I wouldn't be here with you. Hmm? [Sighs] [Clears throat] Hello? Yeah, it's me again. No, I'm not coming in. I wanted to give you a heads-up. I won't be coming in anymore. I'm done. No, I'm serious. It's final. I'm out of the dancing game.
Nicole: You and Brady go ahead and do your man talk, and I have some errands that I have to run, so--
Eric: Actually, I promised to hear a confession, Brady. And I'm--I'm kind of already an hour late.
Brady: Oh, that's okay. I don't want some guy carrying around a guilty conscience on my clock, so why don't we meet at the pub in an hour?
Eric: That--that sounds great. I'll see you there.
Brady: All right.
Eric: Right, an hour. Excuse me.
Brady: [Clears throat] Take care.
Nicole: Brady, Brady, Brady, Brady, wait, please, a second.
Nicole: Hi. [Chuckles]
Nicole: Uh, I never got to congratulate you on your engagement.
Brady: You mean warn me, don't you? Hell in a hand basket, slippery slope, the usual. I mean, I know how you feel about Kristen, Nicole. It's okay.
Nicole: No, no, no. Kristen gave me a break. There's no way I'm gonna badmouth her. And, damn it, you went with your heart. I'm happy for you--both of you.
Brady: Thank you.
Nicole: How about your dad? I mean, is he--
Nicole: Okay, I'm--
Brady: No, no, no, no.
Nicole: I'm sorry.
Brady: It's all right.
Nicole: But congratulations. And best wishes to Kristen.
Brady: What do you want?
Brady: What do you want?
Brady: I know you're giving me all these kind words, and I know you very well, so we're friends. Just ask me. What do you want?
Nicole: Okay. It's personal. Um...
Brady: All right.
Nicole: Do you know Vargas?
Brady: Do I know Vargas?
Brady: Yeah, I've met him a couple times.
Nicole: Okay, I need you, uh, to check him out, you know? Privately. No one else can know.
EJ: Johnny knows that I love him, Rafe.
Rafe: Well, of course. You love all your possessions.
EJ: You know, if there is one thing that you and I have in common, it's that I really don't give a damn about you, and you really don't seem to give a damn about me.
Rafe: Wow. That is actually the first honest thing that you've said since we've been standing here.
EJ: Can I tell you something, though? It is a little bit of a mystery to me as to why you won't admit that you are disappointed that Samantha and I are engaged.
Rafe: No, no, no. No, you see, you both deserve what you're gonna get.
Rafe: I've moved on. Well, listen, you guys want to get married, you should. I mean, anytime, anywhere. In fact, I do know a couple of judges. I could pull some strings. You wanna do it, let's say, tonight?
Rafe: Yeah, I'm there for ya.
EJ: Thank you. Thank--I have to be honest with you. I was thinking of something maybe a little bit more romantic.
EJ: But I'll be sure to pass on your good wishes to my bride-to-be.
Rafe: Please do. Yeah.
EJ: And the FBI jacket, Rafe.
Rafe: I'll be in touch.
Sami: Yeah, I am sorry about that. I'm just wrapping things up right now, and I'm gonna, um, get out of here really soon. [Laughs] The last person in the office, as usual. Um, okay, so can you just give me a head start and put the kids in bed and get their teeth brushed? Thank you. I'll see you in a bit. [Sighs]
Abigail: Cameron, call them back. What--you need the money. You can't quit.
Cameron: No, no. There--there's other ways to make money, you know. And I'm almost paid off on those loans anyway, you know. Maybe I'll wait a few tables or, you know, bus. I'll be fine.
Abigail: Oh, my God.
Cameron: Look, not so long ago, I was a jerk about you and how you feel. And now that's all I care about, is how you feel.
Stefano: Ah, Katerina. I see that you are alone.
Rafe: So... you getting any sleep?
Gabi: Uh, yeah, just, you know, not all of it at night. [Grunts] She's, uh--she's a real kicker if I change positions.
Rafe: [Laughs] Yeah. Saw Nick today.
Gabi: Hmm. Yeah, is that why you came? Uh, but let's--let's not start with Nick, please.
Rafe: No, no, no, I just wanna make sure my little sister's taken care of. That's all.
Gabi: Everything is fine. Thanks to Nick.
Rafe: Oh. That's funny, 'cause last time I spoke to you, you said that he had done something that upset you.
Gabi: Yeah, well, that's ancient history, Rafe.
Rafe: Yeah. What was it?
Gabi: Look, let's not talk about it, okay? He's been nothing but wonderful to me.
Rafe: Okay. Where is Mr. Wonderful right now?
Nick: Where is it?
Sami: Where is what?
Nick: You know damn well what I'm talking about.
Sami: I'm sorry, Nick. No, I don't have any idea what you're talking about. But I really do have to get going. I have a babysitter waiting at home, and I don't want to make her mad. When you have the baby, you're gonna learn how important it is to keep your babysitter happy.
Nick: You went to the Kiriakis mansion today?
Sami: Yeah, yeah, actually, Lucas and I went to give Allie a chance to visit with Maggie.
Nick: Right, except for you stayed in the house, and Lucas and Maggie took Allie outside. Isn't that right?
Nick: So you slipped upstairs, and you went into our room.
Sami: Why would I do that?
Nick: I don't know. But I'm gonna find out. Maybe I'll talk to Sonny, since he was the one with the lame excuse for getting me out of the house.
Sami: Nick, you have a problem with Sonny?
Nick: You went into our room, and you took something that wasn't yours.
Sami: Okay, now you are totally out of line.
Nick: You've still got it, and I'm not going anywhere until you give it back.
Brady: I'm still not clear. Why do you want me to dig into his life? This Vargas guy, what has he done?
Nicole: It's not one thing in particular, okay? I want to protect Eric. Eric's too trusting, and Vargas is just too... sneaky for my blood.
Brady: Okay. That's good enough for me. I'm all about protecting my brother, so I'll, um, I'll see what I can find out, all right?
Nicole: Thank you.
Brady: You're welcome. We'll talk.
Cameron: [Clears throat] Wow, well, look at you whip that baby out.
Abigail: Believe me, it's much easier when the restaurant has all the ingredients ready to go. By now, if I was at home, my kitchen would be a disaster.
Abigail: Here, you can grate some chocolate on top of yours.
Cameron: Okay, gotcha. [Clears throat]
I knew it.
When I saw what ingredients you had asked for, you could only be making a sundae spoon cake.
Cameron: Great meal. Amazing.
Abigail: Absolutely. Thank you so much. Okay, um, now for the true test. I'm going to make you the perfect bite. All right, let's see. Okay.
Cameron: Mm. It's excellent.
I've gotta try it. May I?
Abigail: Oh, my--yes, please! Of course, here. Let's see. There.
Abigail: Oh, thank you.
Cameron: It's the perfect ending to the perfect meal.
Oh, thank you. Maybe you've noticed. I am a perfectionist about food.
You know something I've noticed?
Cameron: What's that?
This lady is someone you want to hold on to.
Cameron: Hmm. Hmm, well, he took the words right out of my mouth.
Vargas: Sorry I slammed the door.
Nicole: No, you're not. You heard me ask Brady to check you out, and now you're pissed. And if this wasn't a church, you'd probably have me backed against a wall and punching me or something, I--
Vargas: Whoa, whoa. Nicole, let's not turn this into some weird fantasy. I'm not that kind of guy, and you of all people should know that.
Nicole: Oh, I know who you are.
Vargas: Okay, fine. Maybe I'm not Mr. Perfect. But seriously, I mean, there's no reason to turn on me like this.
Nicole: I heard you. I know.
Vargas: What do you know? That I'm doing something wrong? Name it. You can't, can you? And the last thing I'm going to do is do anything to hurt Father Eric, of all people.
Nicole: Do your little hypocrite act on someone else, Vargas--oh!
Vargas: You're going to make a call. You're gonna call your buddy Brady, and you're going to tell him to stand down. No investigation. Otherwise, Father Eric gets to hear all of your dirty little secrets.
Brady: So the, uh, the ceremony is all ready to go.
Eric: I wish you nothing but the best.
Brady: Thanks. You know, I-- it didn't even occur to me to ask you to officiate. Or--or let alone to stand up for us. Not that I wouldn't have liked that. There's just a lot of complications right now.
Eric: Yeah, with my mother being the top of that list.
Brady: The thing is, I know we're just steps, but I always think of you as a brother, you know?
Brady: I would like to have you there. That day, for my wedding. Not to officiate. Not to stand up for me or-- just to-- just to be there. How do you feel about that?
Kate: So. Where is Cecily? Or did she come to her senses and leave you?
Stefano: [Chuckles] Cecily will be flying in from Singapore very soon.
Kate: Ah, then she's not as smart as I thought she was.
Kate: Otherwise, she would've left an ocean between you.
Stefano: And you? Where is the man you're supposed to be with?
Kate: What makes you think I have a man in my life?
Stefano: Oh, come on. You don't think you can keep something like that away from me, do you? [Laughs] Oh, my dear. You are always behind the curve.
Gabi: He, um--he left a little while ago. He had some errands to run.
Gabi: You know, Rafe, you put a lot of pressure on him.
Rafe: The way I see it, he actually puts a lot of pressure on himself. And on you.
Gabi: Look, he works till really late, and he gets up very early, and I know he hasn't been sleeping well. I-I just know that things are gonna get better eventually. You know, the pressure will--
Rafe: The pressure is gonna get worse.
Gabi: Well, then, we'll deal, Rafe, okay? Just stop, come on.
Rafe: Okay. I was talking to Nick earlier, and I brought up Will's name, and I saw him tense up. Not good.
Gabi: Yes. Yes, okay? Yeah, I know that things between Nick and Will are not very good. But I think that once the baby is born, things will get better. You know what? I know they will get better.
Rafe: Gabi, did it-- did it ever occur to you that maybe Nick's not giving you the whole story on Will?
Maggie: Well, here we go. I just love having tea in the evening, don't you?
Gabi: Yes, it's really nice.
Maggie: Okay, it'll just sit there for a little bit.
Gabi: I was just telling Rafe here how wonderful it's gonna be once the baby's born.
Sami: Nick, I think you should calm down, you know? Just relax. Maybe you should go home. See Gabi and--
Nick: Give it to me.
Nick: Give it to me, Sami, unless you want things to get very ugly.
Sami: Let go.
Nick: Give it to me.
Sami: Get off of me! Let go of me!
Nick: Sami-- what are you gonna do? Call security?
EJ: If you don't leave her alone, you're going to wish I'd called security, Nick.
Abigail: Do you want to come in?
Cameron: I have to be at the hospital at 6:00.
Abigail: Oh, so good night, then.
Cameron: I had a terrific time.
Abigail: Are you sure that you don't want to take some of this yummy dessert home with you? Give yourself a nice sugar rush for breakfast?
Cameron: [Laughs] Well, I had a great night tonight with you.
Cameron: But I think I'm just gonna take home that sweet memory. Good night.
Abigail: Good night.
Eric: Gotta admit I'm a bit surprised.
Brady: What, that I'd want you at my wedding?
Eric: No, no, no, no, no. But like you said, if I did attend, there could be lots of complications. You know what? Just let me think about it.
Brady: Of course. Sure.
Eric: You know, I haven't forgotten how Kristen showed kindness towards Nicole, or how you even opened up to me about the fear of marriage. You know, being there, that would be valued for me too.
Brady: I'm gonna put you down for a maybe. How's that?
Brady: All right. You know, Eric, considering where we were a month ago, this isn't such a bad place for us to be right now, right?
Eric: I was thinking the same thing. Hey, you know what? I'm gonna go say hi to my grandmother while she's still in the kitchen.
Brady: You do that.
[Cell phone rings]
Nicole: Hey, Brady. Uh, it's Nicole. You got a sec?
Nicole: So remember that favor I asked for earlier?
Brady: Checking up on Vargas?
Nicole: Yep. Changed my mind. You don't have to do it.
Brady: Why the 180?
Nicole: Well, you know me. [Chuckles] Playing mother hen when I shouldn't. I get all protective of-- of Eric, you know. He's so big-hearted and, well--
Brady: What, that we should just trust him to know what he's doing?
Nicole: Exactly. So we're good?
Brady: We're good. I'll see you later.
Vargas: [Clears throat]
Vargas: Yeah. For now. But if Father Eric or anyone else starts coming around asking too many questions, then I'm gonna know who the rat was. And, oh, am I gonna have a story to tell. [Imitating Nicole] "Oh, God! [Gasping erotically] Oh, I want you so bad! Oh, Eric." [Chuckles] Have a nice night.
Nicole: Hey, hold on a minute, Vargas.
Nick: [Breathing heavily] Sami. Please, give it to me. I am begging you.
EJ: Are you okay?
Sami: Oh, my God.
Sami: I'm so glad you're here. Thank you. I was so scared.
EJ: You're okay?
Sami: Yes, I'm fine. I just--oh, God. I just want to go home, see the kids, and shake this off.
Sami: Thank you. Nick, uh, scared me. I just kept thinking, "deny it. Deny it. Deny it."
EJ: Did it work?
Sami: He almost got his $30,000 back.
EJ: Okay, well, almost is not the same as getting it, Samantha.
Sami: He knows I have it.
EJ: He does not know anything. He's just desperate.
Sami: Don't you think that makes him more dangerous?
EJ: Darling, you're forgetting, the Nick Fallon situation is almost over. Okay?
Sami: You're right. You're right, it is. Oh, God, I just want to go home.
EJ: Okay, okay. I can arrange that. I have a meeting, unfortunately. Otherwise, I'd go with you. But let me get somebody from security. They can escort you there.
Sami: No, I don't need-- I don't need security. I'm sure you scared Nick plenty, six ways from Sunday. So I'll just go home and shake this off, and you go to your meeting, okay?
EJ: You're sure you're okay?
Sami: Yes, thanks to you, I am fine. I'll see you at home.
EJ: Okay, could you do me one small favor? Try not to get in any more trouble.
Eric: So was that Kristen on the phone?
Brady: No, no, that was-- that was Nicole. You know, it wasn't too long ago, Eric, that I was really, really worried about her. I didn't think that she was gonna be able to straighten her life out. But since hooking up with the church, she--she's doing really well. You've had quite an effect on her.
Nicole: Simple warning, Vargas. You do anything to hurt Eric, and your happy little place at the Rectory will be over. I repeat, you can tattletale all you want, but I will bring you down. I will make it happen. So I'll be watching you, clear?
Vargas: Well, I guess, then, we'll just be watching each other, won't we?
Nick: Gabi, I, uh-- uh, I'm sorry. What's with the suitcase?
Gabi: [Sighs shakily] Nick, you're gonna tell me what's going on, or I'm leaving.
Rafe: Ah! [Laughs] Finally. Talk about a place that's off the beaten path. Why'd you want to come here? Well, you're looking awfully serious. What's going on?
Kate: You already know. I'm going to tell you anyway. This thing we've had for the last few months is over.
EJ: Well, I can imagine my call came as something of a surprise to you, so I will get straight to the point. I need your help with a rather delicate matter. Over the next few months, I'm intending on bringing about the complete and total destruction of Stefano DiMera.
