[Cell phone ringing]
Sami: Will. Oh, I'm so glad you answered the phone.
Will: I was asleep. I wasn't thinking clearly. What do you want?
Sami: I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing. I mean, you didn't get any of my messages
Will: I'm sorry. I haven't been in the talking mood lately.
Sami: Because of me and what I did.
Will: No. Look, I-I told you, I'm not mad at you anymore. I only have myself to blame for what happened.
Sami: Listen to me, Will. You got Gabi pregnant, but after that, everything that happened is because of Nick. And look, I am going to take care of it.
Sami: No, I'm serious. I'm not going to let that creep keep you away from your daughter.
Will: Please stay out of this.
Sami: Will, I've gotta go. I love you. Don't worry. I've got everything handled.
Will: Mom? Mom?
Sonny: What did your mom do now?
Will: [Laughs] It's what she's going to do.
Sonny: Which is?
Will: Make a bad situation worse.
Nick: Happy wedding day. Do you like your ring?
Gabi: I love it. But, I mean, I already have the pendant.
Nick: Well, the pendant doesn't tell the whole world that you're spoken for.
Gabi: I know, but it must have cost a lot of money.
Nick: I'm a working man now. Just ask Kate. I can afford to buy my old lady some bling.
Gabi: Oh. You're so romantic. What a great way to start the best day of my life.
Nick: I can't believe it. In a few hours, you're going to be Mrs. Fallon.
Nick: And you are going to be Arianna Grace Fallon.
[Cell phone ringing]
Rafe: This better be important. Huh. The station. Hernandez. Would you stop? No, no, not you. Go ahead. Are you serious? You're sure about that? Okay. Thanks for letting me know. Stop. God.
Kate: Bad news?
Kate: Is he dead?
Rafe: No. He's back in Salem.
EJ: So tell me, how is William doing?
Sami: As well as can be expected. The part that bugs me the most is that he's given up.
EJ: I have to say, for a convicted murderer, Nick is really incredibly adept at working his way around the legal system.
Sami: EJ, we have to find a way to get him out of the picture.
EJ: I know, I know we do. Look, there's, um, something I need to talk to you about. It's important. I would have told you last night, but you were a little upset.
Sami: You sound serious.
EJ: It is serious. My father has moved back to Salem.
Stefano: So, where's Brady?
Kristen: Still sleeping, I think.
Stefano: Mm. This is his first night under my roof. I wonder if he had some pleasant dreams.
Kristen: I hope so. Did you?
Stefano: I stayed awake, thinking about what you have in store for John and Marlena. [Chuckling] You know, it is nothing less than brilliant.
Kristen: Thank you. I thought it was very clever myself.
Stefano: Ah, buon giorno.
Kristen: Good morning. Hi. Come join us for breakfast.
Brady: Uh, actually, I'm going out for breakfast with my dad.
John: I do know what the condition is. I have to accept Kristen in your life, right?
John: Well, honestly, it's not going to be easy. I just hope that-- that you can give me the chance to try.
Gabi: Um, yesterday, Will came by, and, um, I kind of felt weird about not inviting him.
Nick: Will came by here? What did he want?
Gabi: Well, he wanted to talk to me about something, and it kind of sounded important. And then he just changed his mind.
Nick: Why do you say that?
Gabi: Well, because he said something that we both knew was totally lame, and then he took off. You know, I think I'm going to call him and see if everything's okay.
Nick: Uh, don't-- don't do that.
Sonny: Maybe you should call your mom back.
Will: No, it doesn't matter. She's going to do whatever she wants to anyway.
Sonny: That's true. Did you, um, think about what I said last night?
Sonny: 'Cause, you know, people are going to start-- thank you-- people are going to start asking questions about why you signed your rights away as the father. And since you can't tell them that Nick's blackmailing you, I was thinking that maybe you should have some kind of a cover story.
Will: Cover story? I mean, what--what am I going to say that makes any sense? You know, I can't even convince Gabi, probably.
Sonny: I know. I just know you're going to take a lot of heat for this. I'm really sorry.
Will: It's okay. I just don't-- I just hope people don't think I just did this for you and get pissed off at you.
Sonny: Well, you know, even if they do, I know the truth. You know, Nick is trying to destroy your life because of some stupid thing you did when you were a kid. And he would taken down your dad, your grandfather, your aunt hope. And I know you did the only thing you could do.
Will: You know, you don't have to make me sound so noble. I should've accepted responsibility from the beginning. If you need any proof that what goes around comes around...just look at me.
Sami: So how long has Stefano been back in Salem?
EJ: He came back yesterday.
Sami: Hmm. Did you know that he was coming back?
EJ: I did.
Sami: And you chose not to tell me.
Sami: Did you think I wouldn't notice Stefano being back in town?
EJ: No, I was hoping that he'd change his mind.
Sami: Have you gone to see him?
EJ: Yeah. I went to see him last night.
Sami: And you didn't tell me that, either.
EJ: No, I didn't, Samantha, but only because you were very upset.
Sami: I am upset now because you kept it from me.
Kristen: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold on a second. So...you didn't tell me about this breakfast with your dad.
Brady: I-I-I knew what your reaction would be, that's why.
Kristen: What does that mean? Who invited whom?
Brady: I--actually, he invited me. He said that he doesn't like the way things are with us right now, and he even said that he was ready to accept you into my life. What about that?
Kristen: Do you think he means it?
Brady: I don't--I don't know. I hope so. I mean, I didn't give him much of a choice, so maybe he heard me.
Kristen: Well, I hope so.
Brady: Me too.
Kristen: So you want me to come along for moral support? What?
Brady: No, I just-- I know, I know what you're doing right now.
Kristen: What do you mean?
Brady: You're afraid that he's going to try to talk me out of being with you, and, Kristen, he can't do it. There's nobody that can do that.
Kristen: I'm sorry. I guess I was a little insecure.
Brady: I have an idea. What if you gave me some time alone with him, and then you showed up at the coffee house?
Kristen: You mean to kind of seal the deal?
Brady: Exactly. Well, my idea was that I could have my one-on-one with him, and then you and I could talk to him together. What do you think?
Kristen: Think it might work?
Brady: I don't know. The guy needs to see how good we are together. He needs to look at us.
Kristen: I like it. Let's do it.
Brady: All right, I want you to give me about 1/2 hour, 45 minutes, something like that.
Kristen: You got it. I'll miss you.
Brady: I'll miss you, too.
Stefano: John is trying to outmaneuver you.
Kristen: He can try all day. It's not going to work.
Gabi: Okay, well, why shouldn't I call Will?
Nick: Babe, it's-- because it's your wedding day. Today should be about you. Will can deal with his own problems for one day.
Gabi: Okay, yeah, I guess you're right. All right, okay. I'm going to start getting ready.
Nick: All right.
Gabi: I call dibs on the shower.
Nick: Okay. You're the bride.
Gabi: Yes, I am.
Nick: Yes, you are.
Will: I guess the best thing that I can do would be to say that I thought about it and I decided that the original plan that Gabi and Nick and I made, um, is the best thing for, you know, my daughter. You know, that she--that she needs a stable environment.
Sonny: What are you going to say when your grandmas weigh in? 'Cause you know Kate and Marlena, they're going to say you can't go back. You know, everything's different now. The whole town knows that you're the father. And eventually, your--your daughter will know. I think they're going to ask, what are you going to say when your daughter wants to know in a few years?
Will: I don't know. I'll tell them I don't know, because I honestly don't know.
Sonny: I'm sorry. I'm just really trying to--
Will: It's okay. I-I'm just saying, I don't know what I'm going to do about any of this.
[Cell phone chimes]
Sonny: Your mom again?
Will: No, it's Nick. He says he wants to see me.
Rafe: Hey, you okay?
Kate: Yeah, I'm okay. I'm-- I think I'm just surprised. I had the feeling that, um, he wasn't coming back.
Rafe: Now he's here.
Kate: Yeah, sounds like.
Rafe: How do you feel about that?
Kate: Oh, let's see. Um, I couldn't care less. I don't give a damn about Stefano. He could be in Timbuktu, for all I care.
Rafe: And now?
Kate: But, you know, he's here. He's not in Timbuktu. Maybe we should think about ending this.
EJ: Well, I think you're overreacting.
Sami: Do you know what I've been through to try to help Will? Do you know-- Lucas and I almost got arrested last night.
EJ: That's exactly why I didn't tell you. Look, I know exactly how much pressure you're under, darling. Do you really think I wanted to add to that?
Sami: You think you're helping me?
EJ: Yes, of course.
Sami: Are you serious?
EJ: What do you mean, am I-- yes. Let me tell you something. My father coming back to town is not going to have any impact on our relationship whatsoever. You think you hated the influence he had over me? Believe you me, you didn't hate it half as much as I did.
Sami: You hated it so much that you can't tell me the one man who could help my son is coming back to town?
EJ: All right, look, I'm telling you now, aren't I? Wait a second. What did you say? Oh, please, don't tell me you're thinking about getting my father involved in this.
Sonny: Why the hell does Nick want to meet with you?
Will: I don't know.
Sonny: He's getting married today.
Will: Yeah, and I already gave him everything he wants. Uh, unless...
Sonny: Unless what?
Will: Do you think it's possible that maybe Gabi told him that I went to see her yesterday, and maybe he ended up telling her everything?
Sonny: Anything's possible.
Will: Right? And then Gabi wouldn't stand for it, and then maybe-- I don't know, maybe Nick has to back down.
Sonny: I just wouldn't get your hopes up. Even if he had to tell Gabi, he would spin it. You know, it would say it's about your mom. He would never tell her it's about you being gay. And then he would make her believe it by saying, "I'm doing this to protect you." And she would buy it. I think you should just tell him to take this meeting and shove it.
Will: Well, I can't do that, because I think there's a chance, so I'm going to get dressed. Okay.
Sami: You're damn right I want Stefano DiMera's help. How could you think that I wouldn't?
EJ: Because I've spent a tremendous amount of time listening to you tell me how much you despise him.
Sami: Well, yeah. For my sake, and your sake. But this is what we are talking about here, and I would do anything to help my son, and that means deal with Stefano DiMera.
EJ: Samantha, you have no idea what you're saying.
Sami: I'm not going to ask him to take a hit out on Nick.
EJ: Oh, great. What, exactly, is it that you want, then?
Sami: Well, my dad and my uncle are always complaining about the fact that they know Stefano has someone on the inside at the Salem P.D., Right? So that guy could go and get the evidence that Lucas and I were trying to get out of that storage room. And then we're home free, right?
EJ: You really have not thought this through at all.
Sami: Well, I don't have time to think it through. We have to go see Stefano right now.
EJ: Samantha, would you--
Sami: Come on, let's go.
EJ: We're not going. Samantha-- for God's sake...[Mutters].
Rafe: This your way of telling me you want to get back with Stefano?
Kate: Oh, my God, no. No. No, I want nothing to do with that man. He wants nothing to do with me. It's-- it's just that he... he wouldn't want to see me with anyone else. So if he should find out about the two of us...
Rafe: Oh, look at you. You're worried about what he might do to me.
Kate: We already know what he did to you.
Rafe: Yeah, we do. So I know how he works. I'm not scared of him. And I don't give a damn if he finds out about us. In fact, I kind of like the idea of it driving him a little crazy.
Kate: Wow. You're either the bravest man I've ever met...or you're a complete fool.
Rafe: Hmm. Maybe a little bit of both.
Stefano: Didn't it dawn on you that John would fight back?
Kristen: If he thinks he can outsmart me, he can think again.
Stefano: Well, then, you better hope that Brady cares more for you than he cares for his father.
Stefano: Oh, let Harold get it.
Kristen: No, I'll get it. I need the fresh air.
Kristen: What? I'm coming.
Chad: I'm guessing this is a bad time.
John: Ah. Thanks for meeting me, kid.
Brady: My pleasure. My pleasure.
John: Listen, I took the liberty of ordering a-- let's see, it's a light coffee, toasted pumperNickel bagel, right?
Brady: That's perfect. Perfect, thank you. Thank you. Listen, Dad, uh, I hope we can work this out, you know?
John: So do I.
Brady: And I appreciate, very much appreciate the fact that you're trying to accept that Kristen's going to be a part of my life.
John: You know, kid, I've been doing a lot of thinking.
Brady: But I also know that you're a former ISA agent, and you know how to work people.
John: You have a right to be suspicious, but I am not working you. So let me tell you something. When I was gone, I did a lot of thinking, and I was thinking about what my life would be like without you in it. I can't let that happen just because I don't approve of the woman that you're with.
Brady: She's not just any woman.
John: And she has become very important in your life.
Brady: So you're serious?
John: Brady, if you love Kristen...
Brady: I do.
John: Then I've got no choice but to try to accept her.
Brady: I hear what you're saying. I just don't know if I believe it.
Rafe: As much as I hate to say this, I have to go.
Kate: Duty calls?
Rafe: Gabi. I want to check in with her before the wedding.
Kate: What about if I go with you?
Rafe: To see Gabi?
Kate: Mm-hmm. Yes. I have a--I have a gift I want to give her.
Rafe: Oh. You're a very generous person.
Kate: Oh. Yes, I am, but don't you let that get around, because you will absolutely ruin my reputation.
Rafe: Your secret's safe with me.
Nick: You went to go see Gabi last night.
Nick: Well, what was that about?
Will: I can't even talk to my own friends now?
Nick: You didn't go there to just talk. You told Gabi that you wanted to tell her something important.
Will: What did she say that I said?
Nick: Nothing. She knows that you changed your mind, so why don't you tell me?
Will: Okay, fine. Um, I was going to tell her that her fiancÚ is a son of a bitch, and that marrying you would be the worst decision she would ever make.
EJ: Samantha, Samantha--
Sami: No, no, I'm not changing my mind, EJ.
EJ: Has time completely eroded your memory of my father? You're going to ask him for a favor-- something, by the way, that does not benefit him--
Sami: He likes Will.
EJ: That didn't stop him from doing exactly what Nick is doing to William.
Sami: Well, that's different. Besides, didn't you say that Stefano treated Will like one of his grandchildren? EJ, I am desperate. I am so-- I'm desperate.
EJ: I know you are.
Sami: I hate him. I hate Stefano so much. But right now, all I can see is Stefano as Will's savior.
EJ: But Samantha, all he's going to see is your desperation, and that's going to make his day.
Sami: Well, what if you're helping me? What if you talk to him? Unless you are not willing to do that.
EJ: I'm not getting sucked back into his world, Samantha. Look, your happiness means everything to me.
Sami: If you're with me, then Stefano will want to help us. And I can make sure that you don't get sucked back in. I promise. I think if we're together it'll totally work. Stefano will listen. Unless you think there's another reason he won't help me. Because he hates me, and he hates that we're together.
Kristen: I'm so sorry that I snapped at you. I'm very happy to see you.
Chad: Yeah, you too. Still think moving in was a great idea?
Kristen: I do.
Kristen: Mm-hmm. I'm hoping you're going to feel the same way.
Chad: I thought about what you said, and I decided that I could at least welcome the old man home.
Kristen: That's a step in the right direction.
Chad: Yeah, well, don't get your hopes up.
Kristen: [Sighs] Look at this place. You wouldn't rather live here, in this magnificent mansion, than your sad, depressing apartment?
Chad: Yeah, and what, sit around the fireside and talk about who we're going to whack next?
Kristen: I don't think we do that anymore. It's very yesterday.
Chad: How does Brady like it here?
Kristen: He said it wasn't so bad.
Chad: That doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement.
Kristen: Moving in here has brought us closer together, and I'm going to do everything I can to make sure it stays that way. Okay?
Brady: Well, that trip to Europe must have changed your whole perspective.
John: Yeah, it did.
Brady: Because, on New Year's Eve, you were calling Kristen every name in the book and saying that she was just using me to get back at you.
John: I know exactly what I said, son.
Brady: And here we are, a couple months later, and you have a whole different attitude. So have you decided that Kristen isn't using me? Or are you just fine with it now? Dad, I've got to tell you, you're either lying to me now, or you were lying to me then. So which is it?
Stefano: Hi. Oh, my God. How good to see you, Son. Oh, Chad, how wonderful. You look terrific.
Chad: Thank you, thank you. So do you.
Stefano: So, from everything I've heard, you had a rough time after I left. I mean, the loss of your sister, the-- you broke up with, uh, what was her name?
Chad: And, uh, and yeah, we-- I had a difficult time.
Stefano: God, I'm terribly sorry that I was not here when you needed me.
Chad: Don't worry about it. It's not like you were ever there for me, anyway.
Stefano: Whoa. Ha ha. Well... well, I mean... in that case, I mean, why are you here?
Chad: 'Cause Kristen wouldn't stop bugging me about it.
Chad: And because some of what she said got through to me, and it made me decide that I could maybe give the family another chance.
Rafe: There she is. Hey.
Rafe: Wow, you look great. Listen, I know you're really busy. I don't want to take a whole bunch of your time. But, uh, I just want to make sure you're okay.
Gabi: Yeah, I feel great. And the baby's kicking away. I'm--I'm fine.
Kate: Um, I'm sure you're probably wondering why I'm here, too. But since I'm-- well, since you are carrying Will's baby, I really wanted to give you another wedding gift.
Gabi: Oh, that's--that's really nice of you, but you've-- you've already given me a day at the spa, and you gave Nick a job. You've done a lot for us already.
Kate: Okay, I disagree. Because I wanted to give you the "something blue" for your wedding.
Gabi: Oh. Thank you. Oh, wow. They're beautiful.
Kate: Well, I think they're going to look exquisite on you with your dark eyes. And who knows? Maybe someday, you'll want to give them to your daughter.
Gabi: Thank you so much.
Kate: You're welcome. You're welcome.
Nick: If you really think that Gabi's going to listen to one word that you tell her about me, you're a lot dumber than I thought you were.
Will: Okay. I have known Gabi for a long time, a lot longer than you. We've been friends since high school. So if I tell her that she's marrying a lying blackmailing homophobic idiot, I'm pretty sure she's going to have a big problem with that.
Nick: Well, you'd have a bigger problem. And so would all the people who covered for you when you shot EJ. And just for the record, will, I have nothing against gay people. I just don't think that they should have anything to do with children. I'm serious.
Will: Yeah, that-- that's really open-minded of you.
Nick: Okay, you know what, Will? I really didn't come here to argue. I came here to give you a warning. Do not ever try to turn Gabi against me. Not only will it not work, but I will use everything that I have against you. Do you understand?
Nick: Good. The only reason I'm here right now and not at the police station is because it's my wedding day.
Will: Are we done?
Nick: No. Look, as long as Gabi and I are still in Salem, I'm sure that we're going to be running into each other, and I don't want that to be unpleasant.
Will: Okay, well, then I will just try to turn not seeing my daughter ever into a fun thing.
Nick: In the long run, you'll see it's all for the best.
Will: You know, if it's all for the best, though, then why can't Gabi know about it?
Nick: I did that for you, buddy. Yeah. Because if Gabi finds out what you did, she decides to do her civic duty and tell Rafe, believe it or not, I do not want to see you spend the rest of your life in prison, trust me. You're family, Will.
EJ: Father claims he's accepted our being together.
Sami: Great. Then let's go see him. Come on.
EJ: You really need to think this through, Samantha.
Sami: EJ, I don't want to. We don't have time to think it through.
EJ: But you don't understand my father. This has to be quid pro quo.
Sami: Again, in English.
EJ: It--it just means, if you want something from him, then he's going to want something from you, and you have to ask yourself whether or not you're willing to pay that price.
John: Hell, kid, you know, I was at my wit's end on New Year's Eve and the days that followed, so it's-- it's possible that I overreacted to what I thought Kristen was saying back then.
Brady: I'm-- I'm so sorry for the way in which you found out about us, Dad. I mean, I-I know it was a shock to you, and it was-- it was wrong for me to keep it secret. But honestly, the one thing I don't understand, Dad, is you saying that Kristen told you that she was using me. I mean, it's a flat-out lie. Why would you say something like that?
Gabi: Wait, did you and Kate come together?
Gabi: Are you guys, like, friends?
Rafe: Something like that.
Kate: Is he dead?
Rafe: No. He's back in Salem.
Stefano: I am so happy that you've decided to keep an open mind.
Chad: It's more like I decided to close my eyes to certain things.
Stefano: Ah, yes. Don't we all? Anyway, I, uh, I really had a grand time in Europe, you know. It's wonderful. But I've got to tell you, as wonderful as it is to be there, I could not wait to get back, especially to be around my family. That's what's so important to me. You know that. I mean, I love it when they're under my roof. Ah, depending how much time I have left.
Chad: [Laughs] You're kidding me, right? I mean, I was just at your funeral, yet here you are. If anyone's got nine lives, it's certainly you.
Stefano: Yeah, well, that was a pretty stupid funeral they had. Anyway, you have decided not to move in?
Chad: Well, Kristen's pushing it, but I, uh, I haven't made up my mind yet.
Stefano: Well, anyway, the important thing is that you and I work together to get back to our old days, huh?
Chad: Yeah, well, whatever that was.
Stefano: The important thing is, you are my son. That's all that counts.
Sami: EJ, I don't need to be reminded how your father operates, all right? The idea of being in his debt does make me queasy. But at the end of the day, I'll do anything for my kids.
EJ: Really? Including sell your soul to my father?
Sami: Yes. Yes. If it means that Will gets to be in his daughter's life, yes. Come on, I know you would do the exact same for Johnny. I know you would.
EJ: No, of course I would. Fine. We agree we don't talk to my father until we've exhausted every single other option.
Sami: What other option? And I mean an option that does not involve you going to the dark side.
EJ: Well... it's going to be a while until the baby's born, you know. And I have some lawyers who are looking into legal avenues that we may have after--
Sami: All Gabi has to do is write Nick's name down on that birth certificate. And she's willing to do anything for Nick. All right. I will wait before I talk to your father.
EJ: Thank you.
Sami: Unless Will's back is against the wall, and then I won't hesitate. I will go to Stefano and ask him for a favor. Why aren't you still arguing with me?
EJ: I-- there may be another way to ensure that my father helps us, if we need him to.
Sami: Great. What is it?
Brady: I, um, I invited Kristen to join us. But I wasn't quite done with my one-on-one with him.
Kristen: Oh, I'm sorry.
Brady: No, it's--it's--
[Cell phone rings]
Brady: Uh, sorry. Oh. It's the office. I promised the marketing department I would get back to them, so I'm going to take this.
Kristen: That's okay. Your dad and I will be fine. Won't we?
John: Yeah, go make your call.
Brady: All right. I'll be back.
Kristen: Okay. So, John... what are you really up to?
Rafe: What can I say? I've gotten to know Kate a little bit better.
Gabi: Because of me and Will and the baby?
Rafe: Exactly. She's not who I thought she was. And she's certainly not what Sami said she was. She's an interesting woman.
Gabi: What's that supposed to mean?
Nick: Hey, good looking.
Nick: Feel like getting married?
Gabi: Of course. You were gone so long that I thought you'd changed your mind.
Nick: Oh, not in a million years. We better finish, uh, getting ready upstairs. Otherwise, we're going to keep people waiting.
Gabi: Okay. All right. I'll see you later, at the wedding.
Rafe: Yeah, yeah, okay.
Gabi: Okay, love you.
Rafe: Good luck. Love you.
Sonny: Will. Your text made it sound like things didn't go so well with Nick.
Will: Yeah, well, at least now I know what I've been doing wrong.
Sonny: What's that?
Will: Treating him like he's, uh, the same guy he was before he went to prison and before he went nuts. That's a big mistake.
Sonny: Okay, well, what happened?
Will: You know, he honestly believes that everything he's doing is right. You know, cutting me out of my daughter's life because I'm gay does not bother him at all. You know, here I am, trying to be reasonable, and it's a complete and utter waste of time.
Sonny: You're right.
Will: You know, he honestly-- I mean, he doesn't care what I want, doesn't care what, you know, my baby girl might want when she's older. I don't even think he cares what Gabi wants. The only thing he cares about is what he wants, and that's what makes this such a losing battle.
Sonny: Come here.
EJ: Look, I think you're right. At--at some point, father might be William's best option.
Sami: His only option.
EJ: After speaking to him last night, there is something that I think we could do that would ensure his cooperation.
Sami: Great. Whatever it is, I'll do it.
EJ: Yes, no, I wouldn't be so hasty with your words, if I were you.
Sami: Why? What are you thinking?
EJ: I'm thinking that you and I and the children... we move into the mansion together.
Kristen: You're not answering my question. You're going to have to do a lot better than that if you want to win your son back.
John: I'm just having a nice breakfast with my son. Up until now, everything seems to be working out.
Kristen: I think we both know this is a lot more than just breakfast. I guess I didn't make myself clear last night. I'll try again. The only way to Brady is through me. Think you can handle that?
