Kate: Mm.

Rafe: Good morning.

Kate: Good morning. Oh, I can't believe I slept here all night. My God.

Rafe: Well, in case you're interested... I'm glad you did.

Kate: Oh, my God. Mm. [Giggles] What are we doing?

Rafe: Really? Well, if you have to ask, I must not be doing it that well.

Kate: No, no, no. I mean it. I really do. What are we doing?

Hope: I was surprised to find that you're still here.

Gabi: Yeah, me too. But I feel great--no contractions.

Hope: Honey, that is fantastic. Is the doctor going to release you today?

Nick: He's supposed to... which is good news because we have big plans for tomorrow.

Hope: What kind of plans?

Nick: You feel like coming to a wedding?

Kristen: I have been driving the staff absolutely crazy. I want to be all moved in by the time Father gets back today. Are you gonna stop by and see him later? Eej? Hello? I asked you a question. Are you okay?

EJ: [Sighs]

Kristen: What's going on? Come on, you can talk to me. What is it?

EJ: Just a problem with Samantha.

Eric: Hey. I didn't expect to see you here.

Sami: Yeah, I just took a chance that you'd be here. Do you have a minute?

Eric: Sure. Oh. Is everything okay?

Sami: No. No, everything is not okay.

Sonny: You're awake.

Will: Yep. I didn't really sleep last night, 'cause I was thinking about the stupid thing you said about Nick.

Sonny: Well, why else would he get you to sign the rights away to your own child?

Will: No, I don't think it's because I'm gay.

Sonny: No? Then why do you think it is?

Will: You know. It's my mom.

Sonny: No, it's not.

Will: Yeah. Sonny, she's been making Gabi's life miserable.

Sonny: Okay. So say your mom was totally sane and great--

Will: Never gonna happen.

Sonny: Whatever. Nick would come up with something else. I was awake last night too. And I'm right. What Nick's doing is not about your mom, not about your messed-up family. It's about the fact that he doesn't think gay people should be parents.

Kate: You don't think this is just a little bit unseemly?

Rafe: Why?

Kate: Because you're a cop... because I'm Stefano DiMera's nefarious ex-wife.

Rafe: Well, the key word there being "ex."

Kate: See, I don't think you're listening.

Rafe: Okay. All right, fine. Um, let's put it under a microscope then, and we'll analyze it and dissect it. Would that be good? Should we talk about our feelings?

Kate: You mean ruin it? Okay. Okay, I think you need to... forget everything... that I just said.

Rafe: Are you sure?

Kate: Mm-hmm.

Rafe: Okay.

Kristen: So what's going on with Sami?

EJ: We are in the middle of a... serious problem.

Kristen: Oh. Does that really surprise you?

EJ: No. What surprises me is that I'm torn about how best to deal with it.

Eric: You got to tell me what's-- why you're upset.

Sami: I can't. Eric, I can't talk about it.

Eric: Well, does it have anything to do with Will's baby? I mean, I thought Gabi was okay.

Sami: She is, and the baby is okay, God willing.

Eric: Is it Will? You know, last time I talked to him, he was so excited about being committed and being the best father he could possibly-- Sami, you've got to tell me what's got you so worked up.

Will: Sonny, you're talking about my cousin, okay? If he didn't like me because I'm gay, he wouldn't have been so accommodating at the sonogram. He wouldn't have let me be the first one to feel the baby kick. He wouldn't have even let me be there for the sonogram. By the way, when I asked Gabi about the paternity test, Nick was the one who agreed to it first, and he was the one who talked her into it.

Sonny: And did she, uh, take the paternity test?

Will: You know she didn't.

Sonny: I know, and now you lost the rights to your own daughter. Nick is very smart. He uses people to get what he wants. Why do you think he did all those nice things? He was working you.

Nick: Rafe asked us to wait, and we did... for over a month. But we love each other, and we're tired of waiting.

Hope: Have you mentioned this to your parole officer, that you plan on getting married tomorrow?

Nick: Well, frankly, I don't really think it's any of his damn business.

Hope: But if you're taking on additional responsibility--

Nick: I am so sick of people second-guessing me about this wedding.

Gabi: Nick...

Nick: I'm sorry. I'm really sorry, Hope. I, uh--it's been a tough couple of days.

Hope: I know.

Nick: But we got through it, you know? And--and... [Sighs] we're so happy, and I'm ready for the responsibility, you know? I have a great job, and I just-- I just want to start building a life with Gabi and our little girl.

Gabi: Nick and I want to get married as soon as possible.

Nick: We're--we're doing it at the courthouse this time, and we're not even telling many people about it, but... we'd love it if you were there.

Hope: And I... I would love to be there. I'm very happy for the both of you and this beautiful baby-to-be. Listen, I need to get going. Bye.

Gabi: Thank you so much for coming to see me.

Hope: Take care of yourself, okay?

Gabi: Yeah.

Nick: I'll walk you out.

Hope: Okay. Bye.

Nick: Bye. [Sighs] If one more person tells me it's too soon to have this wedding, I swear to God I'm gonna...

Gabi: What? You're gonna what? [Sighs] Nick--okay, why don't you tell me what's been going on lately? I mean, you've been so touchy.

Nick: W-what do you mean? I've--I've--just been scared to death about you and the baby.

Gabi: No, it's not just that. I know it. Come on, please, tell me-- what's going on?

Sami: Um, nothing happened, actually, Eric, and that's not why I'm here, anyway. I am here because I wanted to give you this. It's from the company for the school.

Eric: Wow.

Sami: It was EJ's idea.

Eric: Well, we're going to have to name something after him--maybe the gym. I mean, the whole "EJ DiMera Chapel" thing won't fly.

Sami: Stop it. He is different.

Eric: Okay.

Sami: Okay? He is a good man. And he's changed since his father's not around.

Eric: I hear he's coming back to town.

Sami: Yeah, well, even still, EJ doesn't want to have anything to do with Stefano.

Eric: Well, he may say that to you now.

Sami: He is a good father. He's a good man. And I see a whole new side to EJ.

Eric: Do you need glasses?

Sami: No.

Eric: [Chuckles]

Sami: We've been getting close.

Eric: Sami, do I need to remind you that just a few short weeks ago, you were saying the exact same thing about Rafe?

Sonny: He was setting you up, man, getting you to trust him. He had no intentions of ever letting you be part of that baby's life.

Will: How do you know?

Sonny: Because I've been out longer than you have, and I see the signs, all right? Nick was weird around me the first time I met him.

Will: He was weird around everybody, Sonny. He just got out of prison.

Sonny: Okay, well, what about that--what did he say? "Who's gonna believe the baby's father is a gay boy?"

Will: Okay, that was bad, I admit, but he apologized, and he said he didn't even mean it, so...

Sonny: Well, that's just classic behavior--make a crappy remark and then claim that you didn't mean it. But I get why you don't want to believe this about someone in your family, but, Will, I am telling you, it's true.

Will: You got to be wrong on this.

Sonny: Why?

Will: Because if you're right, Sonny, I just signed a piece of paper that says I'm fine with my daughter being raised by a bigot.

Nick: I know I've been on edge recently. I just... I was really scared that we were gonna lose our baby.

Gabi: Okay, well, everything's fine now. The baby's fine. I'm fine.

Nick: Still... it got me really freaked out, and... it's just hard to come back from.

Gabi: Nick... Hope asked you if you told your parole officer that we were planning on getting married tomorrow. And, look, I know that makes you mad--I know it. But I need to know. Have you told him?

Nick: No.

Gabi: Nick, that's--

Nick: I don't like the guy, okay? I don't--I don't like talking to him. It just--it brings me down.

Gabi: Why?

Nick: Because... it just--it reminds me of the way it was like in prison... okay? They issue you all your clothes. You have to stand in line to eat. You can't breathe without asking for permission. I felt like I couldn't breathe, period. And they watch you--every move you make. They tell you what to do, what you can't do, and... I just--you feel like you can't even get any privacy.

Gabi: I'm sorry.

Nick: [Sighs] I just--I don't like thinking about it. There's just some real lowlifes in there.

Gabi: Okay, Nick, come on, what's wrong? Don't shut down on me, please.

Kristen: If getting what you want upsets you so much, maybe it's time for you to rethink what it is you want.

EJ: It's not a laughing matter.

Kristen: Sorry. So is this between Sami and you?

EJ: No. Somebody else is doing their level best to upset her.

Kristen: Okay... Rafe?

EJ: No, not on this occasion. No, this is a complete nobody.

Kristen: Who doesn't know his place.

EJ: And yet is making her life a living hell.

Kristen: Hmm. Well, there's always the DiMera solution for dealing with little nobodies.

Sami: Of course. Of course you would throw Rafe in my face.

Eric: No, I was just saying the truth.

Sami: Well, the truth is Rafe turned his back on me the split second he found out that Will was the father of Gabi's baby.

Eric: That must have hurt. And when you're hurting like that, the last thing you need to think about doing is hooking up with another guy, especially EJ.

Sami: EJ is good to me. And he has been there for me. And he is on my side.

Eric: Whoa, whoa, wait. Are you two... getting close?

Sami: If you're asking, "Are we sleeping together?" the answer is, "Yes, Father."

Eric: I'm--shh. I'm not lecturing you here, 'cause I know that it must be very tough for both you and Rafe right now.

Sami: It is tough for me to have a son who isn't even 21 years old about to have a child of his own. And I have been there myself. And all I am trying to do is back him up and help Will any way I can, and all Rafe is trying to do is act like a jerk any chance he gets!

Eric: How?

Sami: Well... Nick blames me for the fact that Gabi went into early contractions.

Eric: How could that be?

Sami: Because the doctor said part of the problem was stress. And I was arguing with her.

Eric: [Sighs]

Sami: Because I want her to have a paternity test because I want to protect Will's rights as a father.

Eric: Okay.

Sami: And that's it. I-I can't tell you the rest of the story. The point is that I feel they're all ganging up against Will and me, and Rafe is on their side. And it's just a train wreck.

Eric: I don't know Rafe very well yet. But I can see that he's a very passionate guy who... who cares a lot about his family, and maybe in the heat of anger, he says things that he regrets later. I think you can relate to that.

Sami: All right, I get your point.

Eric: Maybe you can just give him at least one more try... to talk, you know? Give him a chance not to be a jerk before moving on with a guy like EJ.

Sami: It's too late for that. I am committed to moving on with EJ. And, Eric... I'm really happy about it. I love you, and I hope you can be happy for me.

Kristen: Oh, EJ. What's stopping you? Get the ball rolling.

EJ: You know, I don't think it's a particularly good idea to be going quite as far as you're suggesting.

Kristen: I wasn't suggesting you do anything that extreme-- just reminding you that the DiMeras have options that other people, especially little nobody people, don't have.

EJ: Look, if I said those options hadn't crossed my mind, I'd be lying. It'd give me a wonderful, warm sense of satisfaction to eliminate the little bastard.

Nick: I told you, I just-- I don't--I don't like to relive those days... not with my parole officer and--and not with you.

Gabi: Oh, Nick, I'm... I'm gonna be your wife, okay? If you have memories that make you feel this bad, I think I should know about them.

Nick: Well, I just--I feel... I feel bad sometimes because I see the way people look at me, you know? I know what they're thinking. They're thinking that I'm not good enough for you.

Gabi: No. Look, I'm not perfect either, okay? And I mean, you know what I've done... right? But I learned from it, just like you did. We both want to live a different kind of life.

Nick: It's just hard to be hopeful when you're in prison. You know, I saw guys... who were in there so long, you know... they didn't know anything but prison. And then there were guys who... would get out. And then a year later, they're either back or...

Gabi: Or what? Nick.

Nick: Or dead.

Gabi: You're not one of those guys.

Nick: Right. But maybe now... you understand why I don't like to talk about that time. [Sighs] Um, I'm gonna go check the nurses' station and see if your release forms are ready.

Rafe: Well, I don't know why it happened, but... I'm glad it did.

Kate: I think I know why it happened--I mean, for me.

Rafe: Why?

Kate: Well, it had been quite a long time since a man had told me I was beautiful.

Rafe: You must be hanging out with some blind men.

[Both chuckle]

[Cell phone ringing]

Rafe: Hmm. Popular guy.

Kate: [Chuckles]

Rafe: Ah, it's my sister. Says she needs me.

Kate: Well, you should go. You should go--she's having to deal with Sami, and that's a situation that needs a lot of support.

Rafe: Yeah. Okay.

Will: Sonny, if I try to do anything about this, Nick will send me to prison. And it won't just be me. It'll be my dad. It'll be my grandfather. It'll be Aunt Hope.

Sonny: Well, he's not just a homophobe. He's a jackass.

Will: Well, he's got all the cards.

Sonny: Why won't you just ask someone for help?

Will: EJ was there, and he is a lawyer.

Sonny: My dad said EJ is a lawyer the same way that Snooki's an actress. Come on.

Will: Well, he's not an idiot. If there's something that could have been done, don't you think he would have done it?

Sonny: I don't know. I guess I should have just kept my mouth shut. You know, I could be wrong about Nick. Maybe he and Gabi will step up once the baby's born, and you can have visiting rights.

Will: Right now that is the best I can hope for.

Rafe: Sami. Hi. Would you wait?

Sami: What do you want?

Rafe: I just thought you'd like to hear the good news--that Gabi's out of the hospital and she's going home today.

Sami: That is good news. And I am very glad that Gabi and the baby are okay.

Rafe: Can we just-- can we clear the air here?

Sami: Okay.

Rafe: I know how much you love this baby. I know that's why you were putting so much pressure on Gabi.

Sami: Well, I won't be doing that anymore.

Rafe: Okay, but now that Gabi is okay and the baby's okay and she's going home, I just want to put this all behind us... no hard feelings.

Sami: Oh, yeah?

Rafe: Yeah. I want this to work out for Gabi and for Will... for everyone involved.

EJ: My impulse to deal with this directly was one that I quickly had to rule out.

Kristen: Aw, what happened to my ruthless EJ DiMera? I miss him so.

EJ: Oh, I'm still ruthless when it comes to business, but if I employ Father's tactics with Samantha, I lose her.

Kristen: So interesting. Sami, I know--I mean, she was just never a saint.

EJ: [Laughs] No, she's not. It's one of the things that I love most about her. But she tries to do the right thing.

Kristen: And, see, that's interesting too, because Sami's definition of the right thing is far different than anybody else's I've ever known.

EJ: I lost Samantha once because Rafe managed to convince her that he was the better man. Now I have another chance with her. I'm not going to give him another opportunity. So I need to prove to her that I'm a good father and that I'm a good man. That I'm a better man. Okay?

Kristen: [Laughing] Ah... you'll do okay. I think you make good choices.

EJ: You do?

Kristen: Mm-hmm.

EJ: Really? Why is that?

Kristen: Obviously because you chose to accept me.

EJ: Of course.

Kristen: Remember one thing-- the DiMeras are born struggling with the concept of goodness. Personally, I think that's what makes us interesting. Okay? I got to run. I got a busy, busy day. Please don't be a stranger. Now that Father's back, I hope I'm gonna be seeing more of you. I better. Mwah. See ya.

[Door closes]

Abe: You know, I want to thank you for volunteering to be a mentor in this outreach program.

Eric: Oh, well, I'm looking forward to it.

Abe: You know, when these guys get out of here, they need someone on their side.

Hope: Hey, guys.

Abe: Hey, you.

Hope: Our man will be here any minute. I brought some information on him.

Abe: Well, I was just telling Eric how glad I am that he's involved.

Hope: Yeah, it's great. It's great to have you as a mentor.

Eric: Oh, I'm looking forward to helping him get a new start. There's nothing better than helping somebody, you know, turn their life around.

Nick: Good to go.

Gabi: Really?

Nick: Yeah, they told me I can take you home. Do you need any help getting dressed?

Gabi: Wait, I want to ask you something first. Um, I hope I didn't hurt you when I asked you to talk about prison.

Nick: You didn't... because that's all in the past, and I'm just--I'm looking at my future, all right?

Gabi: Right. Okay, let's go. Help me up.

Sonny: You gonna be okay?

Will: What choice do I have? Okay, you got to get to work, and I got to study.

Sonny: All right. I'll see you later.

Will: See you. I love you.

Sonny: I love you.

[Door closes]

Hope: The hard part is getting these guys to agree to participate in the program. You see, they tend to look at Abe and me as part of the system that put them here. Long story short... I think it's best if you do the selling.

Eric: I'll do what I can do.

Abe: Well, just do what you did with the guy that attacked you and Nicole.

[Cell phone ringing]

Hope: Oh, excuse me. I'm gonna take this outside. Detective Brady.

[Door closes]

Abe: You know, I'm gonna have to go too. I've got a meeting with Theo's teacher.

Eric: Hey, thank you again.

Abe: No, thank you.

[Door closes]

Eric: [Sighs] Please, God... help me help this man.

Rafe: You realize that I have known Will almost as long as I've known you? He's a great kid. He's always been a positive influence in his brother and sister's life, and I know that he is gonna be great with this baby.

Sami: Well, that's really nice of you to say.

Rafe: And I know that you... are gonna love this little girl as much as I will... and spoil her rotten, probably.

Sami: Well, that's exactly what I would like to do.

Rafe: Yeah. Look, I just want to put this all behind us and... anyway, Gabi's waiting for me. I better get going.

Sami: You have no idea, do you? You have absolutely no idea what that bastard has done to my son.

Nick: Let's get you settled in upstairs, and then I'll get you something to eat.

Gabi: Wait, I want to wait down here for Rafe.

Nick: Oh, he's coming here?

Gabi: Uh, yeah, I texted him, 'cause I want to talk to him. I want to tell him in person that we're planning on getting married tomorrow.

Nick: Well, I hope you won't let him change your mind.

Gabi: I don't think he's gonna do that. But if he does, it won't work. I'll tell him that he told us to wait, and we have, but now we're gonna go through with it.

Rafe: Go through with what?

Gabi: Nick and I are getting married tomorrow.

Nick: We'd love to have your blessing, but... I mean, if we can't have that, we're gonna do it anyway.

Chad: So why'd you call me-- too cheap to hire movers?

Kristen: Ah, ha ha. No. Actually, it's because of this. I found it when I was packing things up. It's the DiMera family genealogy. Ta-da!

Chad: Wow. Thank you.

Kristen: [Laughs] Sure.

Chad: So, uh, I hear you're moving into the house of Frankenstein.

Kristen: Mm-hmm. With Brady.

Chad: Seriously? So he and the old man are gonna be facing each other across the breakfast table every morning?

Kristen: [Laughs] Yeah.

Chad: Wow. You and Brady must be really tight, then.

Kristen: Mm, we are.

Chad: So you've got him. EJ's got Sami. Everyone's all tied up.

Kristen: Aw. I know you must be sad. You're all alone, huh?

Chad: Hmm. It's even harder knowing that it's your own fault.

Kristen: Well, you do have a father, a brother, and a sister that want to see you through this, so... maybe you should think about moving into the mansion too.

Chad: You're kidding, right?

Kristen: I'm not kidding. I'm not. When all else fails, you have your family.

EJ: Oh. I'm glad you're here. I wanted to catch you up on this new project. Here, can you...? Well, you seem in better spirits, I'll give you that.

Sami: Well, I will be... once you take me somewhere where Diane won't hear me scream.

Kristen: Would you do me a favor?

Chad: Hmm?

Kristen: Don't mention to anybody about, uh, Brady moving in with me. He hasn't had a chance to tell everybody in his family yet, okay?

Chad: So, if you guys are just moving in together, why would you want your mopey little brother around?

Kristen: You're not that mopey. Besides, it's a big house. You wouldn't be in the way.

Chad: I don't have too many good memories of that place.

Kristen: Hey, you know what? Neither do I. But when I was looking over this genealogy thing, I realized that, for better or worse, I'm a part of this family. And so are you.

Chad: Hmm. I really appreciate what you're trying to do, but, uh... I'm just not ready to make a decision about that.

Kristen: Okay. But like I told EJ, you know, don't be a stranger. You know, Father's gonna be here this afternoon. I know he's gonna want to see you. So... better sooner than later, right?

Chad: Huh. Yeah.

Kate: Decaf cappuccino, please.

Sonny: Sure.

Kate: You--you don't look very happy.

Sonny: I'm not.

Kate: Okay, when I saw you and Will at the hospital, I thought that meant that you were working your way back to each other.

Sonny: Well, we did.

Kate: That's wonderful. Okay, so why do you look like your worst nightmare just came true?

Rafe: This is, uh... [Chuckles] Put up or shut up, huh?

Gabi: Rafe, look, it's not like that, okay?

Rafe: No?

Gabi: Nick and I--we're very sure that this is what we want. And I really hope that you believe that, okay? Because--look, after everybody found out that it was Will's baby, you asked us to wait.

Nick: And we did. Right? But when we were scared that we were gonna lose the baby, we realized all over again how much we love each other and that we don't really want to wait.

Gabi: And we really want you to be at the wedding.

[Cell phone ringing]

Rafe: [Scoffs] I'll be at the wedding. You know I will, all right? God knows you deserve to be happy, right?

Gabi: Thank you so much, Rafe. I knew that you would be understanding. Thank you.

Rafe: You're welcome.

Nick: You know what? Um, I think I left your suitcase in the car.

Gabi: Mm-hmm.

Nick: I'm gonna go grab it. Okay, sorry. I'll be right back.

Rafe: What's the rush, huh? You got all the time in the world.

Gabi: Well, yeah, I'm glad you didn't say that in front of Nick.

Will: Follow me.

EJ: Whatever lifted your spirits, I am intensely grateful.

Sami: Me too. Remember when you promised me you'd do anything for me?

EJ: Of course.

Sami: Did you really mean it?

Nick: What the hell is it, Will? We settled everything. There's nothing left to discuss.

Will: Yeah, I know. You got everything you wanted, and I gave up my daughter.

Nick: It wasn't for me-- for Gabi and the baby.

Will: I know. Y-you keep saying that, but I have an important question for you, and I think after what I just did, I really deserve an honest answer.

Nick: What's the question?

Kristen: So everything's ready for Brady, Father, and me? Harold, you are the best. And you know that saying that you can never go home again? Well, I'm about to go home again, and you know what? I'm so excited. I know. All right, I'll see you soon. Bye-bye. This is it... endgame.

Kate: Okay, now you have me worried. Has something happened?

Sonny: Uh, no, I'm just hoping that Will's okay. You know, he, uh, went through a lot when he thought that Gabi was gonna lose the baby.

Kate: Well, I know, but now Gabi's fine, and the baby's coming on schedule.

Sonny: Yeah, I know. I know. I just really wish that I could have been part of his life when all this started happening.

Kate: Sonny, I think we all regret that it couldn't have worked out a different way, if there wasn't more that we could have done, but... I don't think that's what this is about. Is there something happening with Will that I don't know about?

Rafe: So I was right. Nothing I can say can change your mind.

Gabi: Rafe, it's not that, okay? Nick just--he wants us to be married. And honestly... I think it's gonna make him feel more secure.

Rafe: Secure? Secure about what?

Gabi: I don't know. I mean, he almost never talks about his time in prison. And I think that it still haunts him.

[Footsteps approaching]

Guard: Father, this is Vargas.

Vargas: My name is Vargas.

Nick: What's your question, Will?

Will: If I my mom had never attacked Gabi and if she hadn't gone into premature labor and if we didn't have that scare with the baby, would you have still used what you know to try to get me out of my daughter's life?

Nick: [Sighs] Yes.

Will: Okay. Is it because I'm gay?

Nick: Yes.

EJ: Mm. Whatever you want from me, I will do.

Sami: I want Nick Fallon gone.
