Eric: If we would have died yesterday, we would have died with a lot of unsaid stuff. I think it's time we stop lying to ourselves and to each other.
Nicole: You're right.
Eric: I'm glad you feel the same way.
Nicole: But what is it you think I've been lying to you about?
Eric: You never explained why you felt the need to pack up and leave town.
Nicole: You seriously don't know, do you?
Eric: Well, wha—
Rafe: Oh, great, you're both here. Listen, I need to get your statements on the attempted robbery. It won't... sorry, am I interrupting something?
Marlena: Oh, Kate, hi.
Kate: Hey. Are you here to see Gabi?
Marlena: Yes. How is she?
Kate: Well, the nurse says that she's resting comfortably.
Marlena: Good. And no more contractions?
Kate: No. And Sami hasn't been here to practice her special brand of black magic, so--so--I guess that wasn't necessary, was it?
Marlena: No, maybe not.
Kate: Well, look at us, huh? Proud great grandmothers to be. Who would have thought that?
Marlena: My stars, who would have thought that? Yipes.
Kate: Hey, are you all right?
Marlena: Oh, I--I've had better days. No, I've actually had better weeks. Wait, I've actually had better months.
Kate: Oh, I am so sorry to hear that.
Marlena: Thanks, Kate. Well, it'll get better. It just has to get better, doesn't it? Oh.
Kristen: There's only one other person that knows what I'm about to tell you, and that would be my father.
Brady: Are you sure you want me to hear it?
Kristen: No. No, I'm not. I actually never thought I would share this with you, but if you don't want to hear it, I understand. But if you do choose to stay and listen to what I have to say, I hope you believe me when I tell you that the lies I told were never about you, Brady.
Kristen: It was all about me. The things that I've done. The things that were done to me. The things I have to pay for forever.
Jennifer: Yeah, if you could just get me those numbers by tomorrow. Okay. Thanks, Lynn.
Abigail: Hey, Mom. What? I thought you were at work.
Jennifer: Uh, no. I decided to work at home. You know, sometimes I work better without interruptions.
Abigail: Is that a hint?
Jennifer: No. Oh, no. You are the highlight of my day. I love you.
Abigail: Okay. So... do you get a lot done when you're pacing too, Mom? You're working from home because you're avoiding Daniel, right? What happened?
Jennifer: Nothing. I mean, that's the problem. I mean, last night, I really thought that I did the right thing, you know, and I gave Daniel an ultimatum. But he hasn't answered me back, and I'm really afraid that I've pushed him away for good.
[Knocks on door]
Chloe: Hey. I wasn't expecting you this early. Uh, the nanny interview isn't till 11:15.
Daniel: Yeah, I know. Am I interrupting anything?
Chloe: No, of course not. It's your apartment. You can come and go whenever you want. Oh, and if you ever get tired of living out of that suitcase, you know...
Daniel: Yeah, the hotel's fine.
Chloe: Uh, you know what? I'll go get Parker. He'll be happy to have some extra time with Daddy.
Daniel: You know, wait. I want to say something to you that I can't say in front of Parker.
Chloe: What's that?
Daniel: Read my lips. Lay off Jennifer.
Jennifer: I mean, Daniel said we would speak today, so I didn't want to press him for an answer the second he got to work.
Abigail: Which is why you're here?
Jennifer: Yeah, but I didn't expect to hear nothing.
Abigail: Well, maybe he's in the O.R.
Jennifer: No. He's not.
Abigail: Okay. Well, you don't have to just sit here and wait for the phone to ring, Mom. Call him.
Jennifer: No, I'm not gonna call him. I-I-I left the ball in his court. And after everything that happened last night, he has to know... that--that his silence is just speaking volumes right now.
Chloe: I don't understand.
Daniel: What, do you need me to say it one more time?
Chloe: No. I just don't know where this is coming from.
Daniel: Honestly? How naive do you think I am?
Chloe: Okay, I don't know what Jennifer said to you, but there's obviously been some terrible misunderstanding.
Daniel: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. The problem isn't a "misunderstanding." The problem, Chloe, is you.
Abigail: You can't second guess yourself, Mom. How much are you supposed to put up with? Daniel knows what an evil woman Chloe has been to you and him.
Jennifer: All right, but you don't understand. I asked him to cut off all contact with Chloe.
Abigail: Good for you.
Jennifer: No, it--it's not. I don't ever want to stand in the way of Daniel's relationship with his son. So, when I think about it, I think it's cruel that I asked him to raise his son in a world where his parents don't even speak to each other.
Abigail: Well, that's better than in a world where his parents are throwing things at each other. And you know, Mom, what would be cruel would be to let Chloe break Daniel's heart and yours and that poor little boy of hers, because she is using him as a pawn in her little game.
Jennifer: You know what, honey? Thank you. You always make me feel better.
Abigail: No, Mom, stop. Mom, I mean it. You're doing the right thing. One thing that I've learned recently is, you have to stand up to people like Chloe. Otherwise, they'll walk all over you every chance they get.
Chloe: Are you saying that my being here with your son is a problem for you?
Daniel: No, no. I love having Parker here. I will do anything for him. You know that.
Chloe: Then, what do you want me to do? Disappear?
Daniel: No. I want you to stop playing mind games with Jennifer.
Chloe: What did I do? What did Jennifer tell you?
Daniel: Anyhow, it doesn't matter what Jennifer told me. I just want your word, for what little it's worth, that Jennifer doesn't have to worry about you.
Chloe: Daniel, why are you being like this? What, do you hate me?
Daniel: No. No, I don't hate you, but I am done. I am done tiptoeing around this. So I want you to tell me what you really want.
Kristen: So, when I left Salem, you know, everybody thought I died. [Sniffles] [Laughs wryly] I bet my funeral was the biggest party this town had ever seen. I think that, as the years went by, though, kind of, word got out that I was alive in Europe. I hadn't really died. I can't tell you, though, how many times I wish I had.
Brady: You, uh, said you were hiding out on an island. It doesn't sound that bad to me.
Kristen: I was being held a prisoner. [Laughs] And, um... horrible things were done to me.
Kristen: No. I can't talk about it right now, please. But, I mean, what made it even worse, if that's even a possibility, is that I brought it on myself. [Tearful laugh] You know? Every person that had ever cared about me, I alienated them all. Do you know what's worse than being hated? It's being completely forgotten.
Brady: Well, you're definitely not forgotten now. Kristen, what happened? Did you es--did you escape or--
Kristen: No. Somebody set me free. [Sniffles] But I had to pay a price. I had to pay a huge price.
Marlena: You just can't push Brady too hard, but deep down, he loves his family. And he's having a very hard time walking away from us, so we just have to be patient.
Kate: Well, if there's anything I can do, and I mean that. Believe me, I had to suffer through that smug bitch delivering Stefano's divorce papers, so, personally, I would like to see Brady leave Kristen's heart in a bloody pulp on the floor.
Kate: [Laughs] Hmm.
Marlena: That sounds vindictive. I like that.
Marlena: Enough about this. How are you?
Kate: [Exhales] I'm good.
Marlena: Yes, you are. You're more than good, you're fabulous. We'll have coffee. You'll tell me your secret.
Rafe: All right, um, sorry if this is a bad time, but this kinda can't wait.
Eric: Look, I already told my dad everything he needs.
Rafe: Yeah, afraid not. [Chuckles] Bureaucracy at its finest. You know?
Eric: Bottom line, Kevin does not need to be dumped into the system.
Rafe: "Kevin." You're on a first-name basis with the guy that mugged you?
Eric: Rafe, I gave him my word that I would get him everything he needs from treatment or a halfway house.
Rafe: Right, well, actually, that's up to the judge and jury, so...
Eric: Not if I don't press charges.
Nicole: Do you think you could be even a little less perfect?
Nicole: You heard me.
Eric: Listen, we were talking about this.
Nicole: No, you were talking about this. Eric, that guy could've killed us both. And now what, he's your best friend?
Eric: Of course not, but--
Nicole: Then could you just try to be a little bit more normal for a change?
Eric: Meaning what?
Nicole: Human! Regular! Regular person.
Eric: I'm not human now?
Eric: Listen, I thought you understood, Nicole, this is my vocation. This is who I am now.
Nicole: Oh, believe me. That is abundantly clear.
Nicole: Well, if Eric doesn't wanna press charges, I have no problem making a statement. I'll give you anything you need.
Eric: Nicole, we were talking about something important. Let's finish it.
Nicole: This is important. Kevin probably has a rap sheet ten miles long, and if he does end up on the streets again, how much do you wanna bet he'll be knocking on your door again, and your head? Oh, did I say "bet"? [Gasps] Another sin. [Sighs]
Rafe: God, I hope not. My aunt, she plays bingo every Thursday night in her church, so that would be...
Nicole: Well, maybe God holds Eric here to a higher standard.
Eric: No, he doesn't.
Nicole: He holds everyone to a higher standard than me. Let's go, Rafe.
Rafe: Okay. Listen, if you happen to change your mind...
Kristen: Thank you.
Brady: What price did you pay?
Kristen: Okay, well, one day I got a visitor. It was Stefano.
Brady: You said he disowned you.
Kristen: Yeah, he did. Apparently he felt sorry for me.
Brady: Hey. Tell me what happened.
Kristen: I was so desperate to get out of there. I was so desperate. To get away from those people. I was grateful. I would've done anything. I would've done anything. And I did. I made a pact with the devil.
Abigail: Mom, I know that after everything that's happened this last year, it's probably easy to tell yourself you don't deserve to be happy. But that's not true.
Jennifer: Yeah. You're so sweet. I love you more than you know. And you deserve to be happy too. Are you feeling good about seeing Cameron again?
Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, you know, just waiting for the phone to ring. But I'm not sure I will.
Jennifer: What? I wouldn't wait for the phone to ring. If he doesn't call you, it is his loss, believe me.
Abigail: Oh, thanks, Mom. I'm not so sure about that.
Jennifer: I am sure about that.
Abigail: Daniel's gonna call, Mom. He is. I bet you he's laying down the law with Chloe right as we speak.
Chloe: Daniel, I don't know what you want me to say, I mean, I thought we've already had this conversation.
Daniel: No, we sure have. But what I want from you is the truth this time. I thought--I thought we had things settled between us.
Chloe: So did I. So let me ask you this. What am I supposed to want?
Daniel: Well, I hope you want what's best for Parker.
Chloe: Of course I do.
Daniel: All right, well, then stop messing with Jennifer's head. Do you understand? Because if you don't, Parker is the one who's gonna get hurt.
Abe: Eric. Your mom tells me they caught the guy who attacked you.
Eric: Yeah. Hopefully he'll get the help he needs.
Abe: Well... I'm sure your dad will do whatever he can. So what can I do for you?
Eric: Please, take a seat. Well, everything that kind of happened these past few days got me thinking. I got a little project in mind.
Abe: Oh, okay.
Eric: And I need somebody who's got a little pull to make it happen. Like you.
Abe: [Laughs] Me. You know, I'm the ex-mayor. You need real pull. How 'bout your dad?
Eric: No, I can't take this to him. He'll hate it.
Nicole: So, I walk back in the room, and Eric-- Eric says, "Trust me. Look into my eyes," and all sorts of crap like that, and this guy totally fell for it.
Rafe: So why are you so upset?
Nicole: Why are you even asking me that? Eric wants this guy back on the streets. Why does he have to be such a damn saint?
Rafe: No, I understand. Psh! I've got a job to do here too. Right? But on the other hand, Eric is making a stand. Standing up for his fellow man. You kinda have to admire that, don't you?
Nicole: I'm sorry, maybe I'm just still a little wound up from staring death and stupidity in the face.
Nicole: Speaking of which, I need to splash a little water on my face. Excuse me.
[Cell phone rings]
Kate: Hello, Rafe.
Chloe: Wait, wait, wait, what do you mean Parker's gonna get hurt? What did Jennifer say to you?
Daniel: Okay, you know what? I am not gonna have--
[Cell phone rings]
Daniel: Go ahead, answer it.
Chloe: [Scoffs] It's just the nanny agency.
Daniel: Well, you should see what they want.
Daniel: I'm gonna go-- I'm gonna go say hi to Parker.
Chloe: Hello. Yes. Yeah, that's fine, I understand. Thank you. [Scoffs] Daniel. Hey, it was the nanny agency. They have to postpone the interview.
Daniel: All right, that's okay. I'm not having a great day anyway. Actually, I should--I should get going, all right? Why don't you sit right here? All right? And I will see you later. Where's the love? Hug. Oh, that's what I'm talking about. Mwah. All right, baby.
Chloe: I mean, seriously? We were just in the middle of a conversation.
Daniel: Okay, I said what I needed to say. And you know what you need to do, right?
Chloe: [Sighs] Ugh. Oh, honey. Your daddy's so mixed up. 'Cause he's been listening to that wench. Gotta figure out what she told him. But don't you worry. You and your mommy and your daddy are gonna live happily ever after. I promise.
Kristen: My father... bought and paid for my freedom. And I went from being in hell to being in a five-star hotel in Paris. [Breathes deeply] And I saw a therapist every day, trying to learn how to cope with all the things that I had done, and all the things that had been done to me. And suddenly, one day... I was a different person, Brady. I was able to go out in the world. Nobody knew me. Nobody knew my past. I felt free. Never--I never thought I would have to show my face in this town again.
Brady: Why did you?
Kristen: Because my father summoned me. He said he wanted to collect on my debt. I had to live up to my end of the bargain. He wanted me here so that I could help him rebuild the DiMera family now that Lexie was gone. But my first few weeks back, I mean, all I wanted to do was just scream and run away, you know, but I couldn't. I was just... [Sniffles] trapped. And then the most amazing thing happened to me. [Crying] You happened to me. I never in a million years thought that something as wonderful as you would come out of this deal I'd made with my father. So you see, you're in my life because of him, and I could lose you because of him. He wants me in that house. And I owe him. That's why I lied.
Brady: I see.
Kristen: Even if I ever did manage to do all the things he wants me to do without pushing you away, it's always gonna be something else. Even if he says there's not gonna be something else, there's always gonna be something else. 'Cause the one thing I know about Stefano is you can't trust him.
Brady: No, you can't trust him.
Kristen: I know. That's why I have always felt alone. I feel like I can't trust anybody. [Sobbing]
Brady: Hey. Kristen. Me. Look at me. You can trust me.
Chloe: Anne, oh, thank you for getting here so quickly.
Anne: Well, what's the big emergency?
Chloe: I need you to please watch Parker for me.
Anne: Uhh! Babysitting? You know, I postponed reading the riot act to one of Jennifer's lackeys for this.
Chloe: Well, if you want Jen's head on that chopping block--
Anne: Oh, you know I do.
Chloe: Then this is important. That witch said something to Daniel to get him to turn against me.
Anne: [Gasps] How dare she?
Chloe: I know. And I gotta figure out what she said to him.
Anne: Oh, good luck. Good luck getting something out of Mary Poppins. Lemme tell you something. She might be stupid, but she knows how to keep those lips locked in that tight, little, contemptuous smile.
Chloe: I know, I've seen that smile somewhere else. Her equally gullible, judgmental, not-so-bright daughter I think has some insider info, and I have a perfect way to get it out of her. Oh, uh, Parker's sippy's in the fridge, his favorite show is on the DVR. Thank you so much. Again, I appreciate this. Wish me luck.
Anne: Yes. Luck.
[Knock on door]
Jennifer: Hey, honey, did you forget your keys? Hey. Uh... hi.
Jennifer: Um... uh, come on in.
Daniel: Yeah, okay. Um...
Daniel: Listen, I didn't mean to keep you waiting, I-- you look like you were busy.
Jennifer: No, listen, I wanted to tell you also that I--
Daniel: Were you busy?
Jennifer: No, uh--
Daniel: Go ahead.
Jennifer: No, you go.
Daniel: You go.
Jennifer: Please, go ahead.
Daniel: [Sighs] Okay. I, uh... I was up all night thinking about what you said. And then after my round this morning, Chloe and I were supposed to be interviewing nanny candidates.
Jennifer: Wait, what-- were supposed to be?
Daniel: Well, the agency canceled, but it was--it was probably for the best. Yeah, it gave me and Chloe a chance to talk.
Daniel: Jen, I totally understand why you want me to cut Chloe out of my life. And I know, uh... this isn't gonna be what you want to hear, but, um... I can't do that.
Kate: Great minds. I was gonna call you, and here you are.
Rafe: Here I am. I was just calling you to let you know that Gabi and the baby are okay.
Kate: Ah. Well, I actually was already there.
Rafe: So then why were you calling me?
Nicole: Rafe... what's going on here?
Chloe: Abigail, hey. Thanks for meeting me.
Abigail: What do you want, Chloe?
Chloe: I just wanted to clear up something from last night.
Abigail: What's that?
Chloe: Um, well, I realized I wasn't in a very good mood when I saw you at Victor's. I've just been really stressed out lately, and worried about Parker, and kinda sleep-deprived, so it wasn't until I was tucking my little man into bed that I realized that, um--
Chloe: Well, when I told you that we'd moved into Daniel's apartment, I don't think I told you that Daniel had moved out, and I'm sorry, I-- I don't know how I missed that really important detail.
Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, almost unbelievable.
Chloe: Yeah, so I just wanted to make sure that we were clear.
Abigail: Oh, we're clear. Yeah, we're clear on a lot of things, Chloe.
Chloe: What's that supposed to mean?
Abigail: Oh, cut the sweet and innocent act, okay? You and I both know that you're neither one of those. Now, what are you up to, Chloe?
Kate: Well, I just came from seeing Gabi.
Nicole: Oh-- oh, Rafe, I am so sorry, I've been so caught up in my own stuff, I totally forgot to ask.
Rafe: No, no, no, no, no, no. It's okay.
Kate: Um, actually, the danger has passed, and Gabi and the baby are doing fine.
Nicole: Oh, I'm glad to hear that.
Kate: So are we all. Anyway, that's the reason I came by.
Rafe: Well, thanks. See you soon.
Kate: Yeah, I'll see you at the hospital, somewhere.
Nicole: Yech. Well, I guess you have to be civil to that woman, huh? For the baby's sake? Oh, but you have my utmost sympathy. I mean, that poor, sweet baby. To have a bitch like that for a great grandmother.
Rafe: Oh, I'm sure she has wonderful things to say about you too.
Nicole: I'm sorry, this is Kate we're talking about, right? The one woman in Salem that everyone hates more than me.
Rafe: Okay, why don't we get back to business? Right? Now, as I was saying, when it comes time for the trial, you gonna be here to testify, or can I kiss my case good-bye?
Eric: You know, when I was doing mission work, I was literally saving peoples' lives, helping them stay alive. I love what I do. But yesterday I spent two hours in a meeting discussing altar linens.
Abe: [Chuckles] Yeah, I understand. So, uh--so, what are you suggesting?
Eric: I want to start a prison ministry.
Abe: Do you have any experience working with felons?
Eric: Well, no. I mean, besides my twin sister, but... I was kidding.
Abe: I'm gonna tell you right now, you don't know what you're getting into.
Eric: Ministry is about building relationships. And if I can just save one guy... no, it's okay. If you can't help me, I can-- I'll just figure a way out.
Abe: [Sighs] You know, that sounds like something my wife would say. No promises. I'll make a few phone calls, see what I can do.
Eric: Thank you.
Brady: I'm sorry to make you relive all of that.
Kristen: No. That's okay. I mean, it's--it's good that I got it out, right? I... I never want to keep anything from you, ever again.
Brady: That's everything, though, right? I mean, it's--there's nothing else?
Kristen: No, I don't think it gets much worse than that, you know, but... now that you do know the whole story, my-- my father still wants me to move in. You know, with him.
Brady: [Sighs] Well, if you think that I'm gonna let you move in there alone, there's no way in hell I'm gonna let you do that.
Kristen: My father's coming back. He's gonna want to move in there.
Brady: I'll deal with that.
Kristen: You would do that for me?
Brady: Yeah, I would.
Kristen: Thank you. Thanks. Thank you.
Brady: Don't thank me. Do you wanna--do you wanna get out of here? Why don't we get some air?
Kristen: I think I'm just really kind of tired. I'm kind of beat. Gonna rest for a minute, okay?
Brady: Okay. I love you.
Kristen: I love you too.
Daniel: Okay, I heard what you said last night, Jen. And I know, I know how much it took for you to ask me what you did. I don't want Chloe to be an issue between us, all right? But--
Daniel: But... I mean, the idea of having a third party hand off our kid? I mean, what is that gonna do to Parker when he's old enough to understand that his parents hate each other too much to even pretend to be civil? I don't wanna hurt you. I don't. And I'm not gonna hurt him, so there has to be a middle ground here. Jen, listen to me, I love you.
Jennifer: I love you so much.
Daniel: And even though I can't do what you ask, I'm not gonna sit by and let Chloe interfere in our lives in any way, I promise you that. Okay, so please, just give me a chance to make this right for all of us. And I won't, Jen, I will not let you down. I won't. 'Cause I believe we are strong enough to get through this. Right?
Jennifer: I believe that too, yes, I do. I do. I believe you, and--and I believe in us, I do.
Daniel: You do?
Daniel: You should.
Abigail: Come on, Chloe, you knew that I'd find out that you and Daniel weren't really living together. You lied--I'm sorry, "misled"-- just so you could have the satisfaction of seeing the look on my face, and you did the exact same thing to my mom. And for what? Like my mom hasn't been through enough already. Like she's ever done anything to you?
Chloe: Wow. Have I ever done anything to you, Abigail?
Abigail: No, no, you haven't, Chloe, and you won't have the chance to. Don't you get it? When Daniel divorced you, he meant it. He's not taking you back, Chloe. My God, who would?
Chloe: Excuse me?
Abigail: And quite frankly, I'm sorry that I won't be there to see the expression on your face when Daniel tells you that you're history, that he wants zero contact with you because you are a lying, manipulative bitch.
Chloe: Did your mother--
Abigail: My mother asked Daniel to cut off all contact with you, yeah, and he'll do it. Because my mother is the woman that Daniel loves, not you.
Rafe: Nicole... yes or no?
Rafe: [Chuckles] Yeah, "maybe's" not gonna cut it, okay? You gonna be here to testify or not?
Nicole: Yes, okay, I'll stay.
Nicole: I know now I need to see this thing through to the end.
[Cell phone rings]
Kristen: Hi. Where are you?
Stefano: Mm, I'm still in Rome. Some business came up I had to take care of, but I'm on my way, so I will be seeing you really soon.
Stefano: Darling, are you all right?
Kristen: I'm just exhausted. I let my guard down with Brady, and I almost blew it all.
Stefano: [Sighs] What happened?
Kristen: Doesn't matter. I had to just work really hard to reel him back in, but I got it under control.
Stefano: [Chuckles] No, I think you've got enough little tricks up your sleeve that you can get rid of this sap.
Kristen: Yeah, but I had to use something I never thought I would. The truth. [Sighs]
Marlena: Oh, hi.
Brady: Hi. We meet again.
Marlena: Yes. Do you have time for a cup of coffee?
Brady: No, no, I'm sorry. I actually don't. I have to make some arrangements. [Clears throat]
Marlena: Arrangements? What sort of arrangements?
Brady: Look, Marlena, there's no easy way for me to say this.
Marlena: To say what?
Brady: I realize it's too much for you to be happy for the two of us, so I'm just gonna say it. Kristen and I are moving in together.
Brady: You're actually taking this a little better than I thought you would.
Marlena: Well, I-I was actually afraid you were going to say you were getting married. So you're just getting an apartment together.
Brady: No, not exactly. We're, um... we're moving into the DiMera mansion. I know. Look, I-- I know this is not easy for you to hear, but I wanted to be the one to tell you. And I've obviously upset you.
Marlena: Your father is going to be upset.
Brady: I know, I know. I don't want to hurt him. I don't want to hurt anybody. This whole thing, I don't-- I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Jennifer: What? No, don't. Don't stop.
Chloe: You're making that up.
Abigail: Mm-mm. That's your game, Chloe, not mine.
Chloe: But Daniel didn't say anything--
Abigail: Look, I'm not getting in the middle of this, okay? I'm done with this conversation.
Chloe: Oh, well, I'm not.
