Eric: Bless me, Father, for I have sinned.
Nicole: Oh, my God!
Eric: Don't. Don't! Do not hurt her.
Nicole: Hey. Hey, did you even try to get any sleep?
Nicole: Eric, I know you went from getting checked out in the E.R. at St. Mary's to tending to some sick parishioner. I mean, even the Lord Himself takes a day off to rest, and... why are you looking at me like that? Oh.
Will: Thank you for being patient and generous, and for loving me as much as I love you, and, most of all, thank you for giving me a second chance. [Exhales] That's what... you weren't supposed to see that.
Sonny: Too late.
EJ: That was a really lovely moment between you and my stepmother. What was all of that about?
Rafe: I don't know what you're talking about.
EJ: See, I watched the two of you together, and as somebody who has himself known Kate, I don't think it could be more obvious.
Nick: You blew it, lady. Now, it's all over.
Sami: Nick, you must be exhausted. We all are. It's been an emotional night. Now is not a good time for us to have this conversation.
Nick: I disagree. I'm hoping that in the cold, hard light of day, you will, for once, think before you act because your actions last night could've killed your son's child.
Kristen: Before you say anything else, there's something I need to tell you. It's really important. [Exhales] I've been keeping a secret ever since I came back to Salem. I think it's time you knew what it was.
Brady: What are you talking about? What secret? Kristen, what secret?
Kristen: [Sighs] It's my father. He's very, very ill. In fact, he's living on borrowed time.
Brady: I'm s--hey. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Brady: Here. I know you're...
Kristen: Thank you.
Brady: Father's diabetic, but I didn't know his condition was so life-threatening.
Kristen: [Sighs] Well, that's the thing. See, nobody knows. Nobody knows but me.
Brady: EJ and Chad? They don't know?
Kristen: Mm-mm. My father made me promise that I wouldn't tell anybody, 'cause he's so proud, you know? And I can't tell you how difficult it's been to be carrying around this burden on my own, but, obviously, you need to know, and it's okay because you're actually the only person I truly trust.
Brady: What exactly's wrong with him?
Kristen: Well, as you said, he has the diabetes, you know? And it's affecting everything in his body, really, from his heart to, uh, just overall numbness all over his body, and Lexie was monitoring his condition, but, then, when she passed away, nobody was there, and he just really started to deteriorate.
Brady: What's his prognosis, Kristen?
Kristen: It's not good. Doctors have left it up to me to care for him and take care of his rehabilitation. That's why I need to be close to him, but, see, I didn't want it to mean that I couldn't be with you 'cause that would just kill me. So that's why I asked you to move into the mansion. Do you see?
Brady: Yeah. I--yeah, I get it now, but, Kristen, I'm sorry. It just can't happen.
Eric: I'm sorry.
Nicole: [Sighs] That's all right.
Eric: It just hit me again how much danger you were in last night.
Nicole: Me? I'm fine. You're the one that got hit in the head.
Eric: Well, thankfully, I've got a very hard head.
Marlena: [Clears throat]
Marlena: I hope I'm not interrupting.
Eric: No, no, not at all. It's always...
Eric: [Sighs] It's always good to see you.
EJ: You do know that forming an alliance with Kate is a little bit like a frog jumping on the back of a scorpion.
Rafe: [Exhales] No alliance. Just relieved that someone can actually be rational about all this.
EJ: Are you talking about Kate? Rational? You do know that she was married to my father for a very long time.
EJ: Rafe, it would be a mistake for you to allow your pain over losing Samantha to cloud your judgment when it comes to William and your sister.
Rafe: And I suggest you check your facts there, counselor, 'cause it was Sami's clouded judgment which landed my sister in this hospital to begin with. Demanding a paternity test? Stressing her out? Classic Sami Brady, isn't it? Then again, I guess you shouldn't be surprised because it's the same woman who kept your own child a secret from you, and held a gun to the side of your head, and, then, pulled the trigger. [Chuckles] Congratulations. It's quite a prize.
Sami: Nick, I am very sorry for what happened to Gabi and the baby. I never meant for them to be hurt. You have to know that.
Nick: Are you serious? You already have. If we hadn't gotten Gabi to the hospital when we did, that baby wouldn't have stood a chance because of you.
Sami: And I'm going to work very hard to make sure that Gabi is not upset by me anymore, but you have to understand this is Will's child, and I am doing everything I can to make sure--
Nick: Do you even hear yourself at all, because you say one thing, you're sorry about this, you're sorry about that, and, then, a second later, you're back to your same selfish agenda.
Sami: Selfish agenda? This is my son's child we are talking about, my grandchild, and I am making sure that you do not shut Will out of his daughter's life.
Nick: You want the God's honest truth, Sami? I think the best thing that could happen would be for Will and his whole family to be shut out of this baby's life for good.
Sonny: You can take the card back...
Sonny: But I can't pretend I didn't read it.
Will: Okay, well, then, can you pretend and not make a big deal out of it, 'cause I'm embarrassed enough as it is.
Sonny: Did you write this because of what was in the note that came with the mp3 player?
Sonny: Did you think I wanted to start over? Is that why you came by, Will?
Will: Yes, that is, but, now, I know that the new beginning you were talking about was just us moving in together, and... [Exhales] I mean, I get it. I get it. [Exhales] There's no new start. There's no fresh start. There's no new beginning for us because of the lies I told you, and you're with Brian now, so.
Sonny: Look, I'm really sorry with the mix-up with the mp3 player, but this thing with Brian, you have to know it's not even in the same league as you and me.
Brady: Hey. I'm sorry.
Kristen: No, don't be.
Brady: No, it sounded harsh.
Kristen: No, it's okay. You know what? It wasn't fair of me to do that, to put pressure on you to move in with my father and me. I mean, that was unfair.
Brady: No, no-no-no, that's--
Kristen: No, it was. It was. I shouldn't do that to you. I'm sorry. It's just that if it became public knowledge that Stefano DiMera was so weak and vulnerable, I mean, it would be just disastrous for his company and for our family, and I'm not gonna do that to him. I guess I was just being selfish, Brady, because I don't wanna do it alone, you know? I don't wanna face it alone, but, since you're not ready to get married, and I totally understand that, I do, and you don't wanna move into the mansion. I guess I'm just gonna have to adjust to this new reality.
Brady: I wish things were different, Kristen. I really do.
Kristen: I do too. My father needs me. I'm not gonna let him down. I have to stand by him.
Brady: I understand.
Kristen: That's why I was kinda hoping you would stand by me.
Marlena: [Exhales] Your dad told me what happened, but I had to come over and see that you were okay for myself.
Eric: I am. Thankfully, so is Nicole.
Marlena: Yes, I heard you were there too. Roman didn't give me details.
Eric: The guy, he was an addict. He obviously, you know, he came for the money plate for more drugs. He had a gun. I didn't want to fight him, and I just started putting the money into the bag when Nicole walked in. He jumped her. He demanded that she give over her jewelry, and she refused.
Marlena: Why would you do that?
Eric: Because the necklace she was wearing belonged to her mother. And after that, he lost it. He started choking her.
Nicole: But Eric stopped him, and I was so scared. I was so scared of what that psycho was gonna do to him.
Marlena: Well, you must've been terrified, both of you.
Nicole: Yes, but we were really lucky. Eric's fine, but if anything happened to him-- I'm gonna let you two finish talking. It was nice to see you, Marlena.
Eric: You know, Sami called me a couple of times. Do you know what she wanted?
Marlena: Oh, yes. Gabi had a scare last night. She went into premature labor.
Eric: Is everything okay? Are she and the baby fine?
Marlena: Yes, yes, yes. They were able to get it under control in time, so she and the baby are just fine.
Eric: Thank God.
Marlena: Yes. I wish I could say the same for the relationships that your sister and Brady are both having.
Eric: Yeah. Me too. But, maybe, Brady and Sami, they'll have some sense knocked into 'em later.
Marlena: Hm, I could only hope. And you? Are you well?
Eric: Yeah. I mean, all things considered. Why do you ask?
Marlena: Oh, I always thought that you would be the son I didn't have to worry about.
Eric: You don't.
Marlena: You sure?
Sami: You are absolutely not going to keep Will or his family away from that child, so you can stand there and threaten me all you like.
Nick: I don't deal in threats. I deal in facts. Some facts are really ugly, so ugly that people wanna keep them buried forever.
Sami: Ugly facts, huh? What could you possibly be talking about? Murder, for example?
Nick: Everything I did is out in the open. See, I got caught. I went to prison, but there's a lot of people out there who never get caught, who never have to answer for what they've done.
Sami: Hm. I have no idea what you're talking about, but what I do know is that you are not gonna keep that child away from Will or his family. Why? Because Will is the father, not you, so the sooner you can accept your role in all of this, the sooner we can all just move on. [Inhales]
Will: Yeah, obviously, I understand that what you and I had is not in the same league as what you and Brian have because he is great. He is cool. He is a genius. He is in med school. He's a jock.
Sonny: He's not you, Will.
Will: Yep, that's pretty much exactly what I was getting at.
Sonny: No, the only reason I ever hung out with Brian is because you said you just wanted to be friends.
Will: And I said that because I didn't want you getting way down in my drama.
Sonny: Yeah, well, I didn't want that either at the time, but, now, Will, I don't think I can be your friend.
Will: Okay. I get it. I'm sorry. What I wrote you in the letter freaked you out, and I--
Sonny: No, no, you're not getting it. You're not getting it. After reading this, I just realized that even if we try, we can never be just friends.
EJ: Samantha and I may have got off to a rocky start. We're on solid ground now, thank you. It's gonna stay that way.
Rafe: Oh, yeah. Of course. I mean, for all eternity, I'm guessing, considering you're both so stable, loyal, reliable.
EJ: You know, Rafe, you should know that no matter how this shakes out, I'm going to stand by Samantha and William, and if this does come down to a custody battle, I think with your sister's reputation and Nick's history--
Rafe: Go to hell. And take Sami with you.
Sami: What's going on?
Brady: Okay, back up. Back up. Listen. Standing by you, that is my first priority, but, Kristen, you've gotta understand. I mean, this is coming out of left field here. Since we've been together, you've never mentioned your father or his health, for that matter.
Kristen: I know. I know. My relationship with my father is extremely complex, but I certainly can't say no to him. I mean, not now, not when his very life depends on me being there for him. Look, I just wanted you to know that if we were going to live together, then our only option would be the mansion. That's all I was trying to say, Brady.
Brady: And I appreciate that, Kristen, but if I move into Stefano DiMera's house, it's gonna drive a knife through my dad's heart. Marlena's gonna go berserk. My whole family is going to be disgusted. I don't know how I could hurt them more.
Kristen: I know. We all have to make our choices. It's okay. I just wanted you to know that this was why I was being so adamant about it. It's out of duty to my father who, in spite of all the things that he's done, and I know he's done horrible things, he's been there for me. He's my father, and I don't know how much longer I have him. I guess living together was just some kind of a fabulous fantasy of mine, huh?
Brady: Wait. Don't go.
Eric: Mom, I'm fine. I mean, why would you be so worried about me?
Marlena: Well, I--I guess I'm kind of in the habit of worrying. You know, it's like waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Eric: So maybe you'll get in the habit of not worrying about me, at least.
Marlena: Yeah, maybe I can try that.
Eric: [Chuckles] Have you heard from John?
Marlena: No. Have you?
Eric: An e-mail here and there.
Eric: You know, maybe his silence means he's on his way home.
Marlena: I hope so.
Eric: You know, maybe I'll swing by the hospital and check in on Gabi. As far as Sami, I'll get to her when I get a chance, and, Brady, I don't think there's much I can really do for him at this moment.
Marlena: Mm-hmm. Well, then, make a promise to do something for me.
Eric: And what's that?
Marlena: Please try to stay safe.
Eric: And what happened to not worrying?
Marlena: Well. [Chuckling]
Nicole: I didn't know if either of you were thirsty, so I'm just gonna leave this over--
[Cell phone rings]
Eric: Oh, it's Father Matt. He's wanting to talk to me. It's probably about the robbery. If you two will excuse me.
Marlena: Of course, honey. Well.
Nicole: Oh, Marlena, wait. [Sighs] I just want you to know you don't have to worry about anything happening between Eric and me.
Marlena: Oh, I know that. I know what kind of man and priest my son is.
Nicole: [Groans] What a-- [Exhales] Seriously? Who am I kidding? She's right. I'm the one they have to worry about.
EJ: Everything's fine. I was just waiting for you to come back.
Sami: I didn't realize you were still here.
Rafe: My sister needs me. Where else would I be?
Sami: Of course. How is Gabi doing?
Rafe: Oh, I don't know. How do you think she's doing? She almost lost her baby.
Sami: [Exhales] Look, no matter what you think, it's worth saying I would never wanna do anything to hurt Gabi or her baby.
Rafe: Well, you'll have a hell of a time convincing her of that.
Sami: I'm sure that's true. If something changes, if anything happens, will you please just--
Rafe: I'll call Will.
Sami: Thank you. Ready?
Sonny: Do you still feel this way? Do you wish that we could start over? Then, I'm glad I sent you this Valentine’s Day present.
Brady: [Exhales] Okay.
Kristen: "Okay" what?
Brady: I'll move in with you. I will do it. I will do it.
Kristen: You will? You really will?
Kristen: [Squeals] You really, really will. Oh! Really?
Kristen: [Gasps and exhales] I can't tell you how much this means to me. Oh, it's so wonderful to know that you're gonna be in my corner. Oh, thank you so much. [Gasps] Should we start packing?
Brady: [Stutters] Listen. I have some things that I gott--
Kristen: Oh, you're right, you're right. I'm sorry, yeah.
Brady: Slow down a little bit.
Kristen: Okay, I'm sorry. There's no rush, right?
Kristen: Thank you.
Kristen: I'm so relieved. I mean, you know, to know that you're gonna be there helping me through this horrible ordeal with my dad.
Brady: Yes, listen, it's gonna be a process, this whole moving together, but I do have a favor. I want to be the one to tell people. I wanna break the news to them.
Kristen: Of course. I won't say anything to anybody. I promise.
Brady: All right. You do realize that once this becomes public knowledge, everybody's gonna think that you have me wrapped around your little finger.
Kristen: Aw, who cares what people think. You and I know the truth, right? [Laughter] [Moans]
Eric: Is something on your mind?
Nicole: What? Oh. No, I was just thinking about that guy who attacked us. It just--it brought up a lot of memories for me about my dad.
Eric: I'm sorry.
Nicole: And when he tried to take my mother's necklace, it-- I just hate that he's still out there.
Eric: They're gonna get him. I promise you.
Nicole: Yeah, well, let's hope it's soon.
Eric: It will be, and I promise that you will never be left alone here again, okay?
Nicole: That's very sweet, Eric, but it doesn't really matter.
Eric: What do you mean? What doesn't matter?
Nicole: The thing is I've decided to go away.
[Clanging on door]
Will: [Chuckles] Wait. Aw, wait, I-- [Exhales]
Sonny: What? What's wrong?
Will: I really wanna do this with you, but there's something else that.
Sonny: Something else?
Will: Yeah. I just--I kept it secret from you before, and it cost us everything, and I don't wanna make the same mistake again.
EJ: Samantha, are you absolutely sure you want to be here today?
Sami: At work? Yes, of course. Why not?
EJ: Because you were up the entire night, my dear. You didn't sleep. You're exhausted.
Sami: So are you. You were with me.
Sami: Look, I understand. I don't have a choice. I'm too wired to sleep after what happened to Gabi, after what I almost caused.
EJ: What happened to Gabi was not your fault, Samantha. Look, the doctor said she was dehydrated. If a woman had premature labor every time she got a little bit upset or angry. Look, my point is there are underlying causes. There always are. When you went into that waiting room last night, you took a long time. Did something happen?
Sami: Nick Fallon happened.
Rafe: Can't go in there right now.
Nick: Why not?
Rafe: Because Gabi's sleeping, and the doctors said that she needs her rest, remember? How you doin'?
Nick: I'm fine. Everything's under control.
Rafe: What does that mean?
Nick: You'll see.
Rafe: I'll see? I'll see what, Nick? What are you talking about here? Huh? Listen, let's not forget that you're still under parole, okay? Don't do anything stupid. I might not be able to help you.
Nick: Rafe, one thing I'm not is stupid. Just 'cause I'm on parole doesn't mean that I'm not gonna protect Gabi and the baby. I love them. Both of them.
Rafe: All right. Protect them how? What's going on?
Nick: Look, you have my word. What happened last night will never happen again. Now, if you don't mind, I'm gonna go in and be with Gabi, even if that means just watching her sleep.
Marlena: Oh, hi! I'm glad I caught you. I've got something I wanna talk to you about.
Brady: Good, 'cause there's something I need to talk you about as well.
Kristen: So when can I expect you?
Stefano: Well, I'm not too sure.
Kristen: What do you mean you're not sure? I thought your return to Salem was all set.
Stefano: Yes, I know, but I have encountered a rather pleasant delay.
Kristen: I need you here. I finally convinced Brady to move in with me. So when can I expect you?
Stefano: Dio mio. How about never? Does that work for you?
Kristen: [Exhales] You're so annoying.
Eric: You're leaving. Where are you going?
Nicole: I guess I'm leaving because of what happened last night, because of the memories it brought up for me about my dad, and I wanna see my sister. I wanna spend time with her.
Eric: I understand.
Nicole: Okay, so I'm going.
Eric: You can't leave.
Nicole: Why not?
Eric: My dad told us he needs us both to I.D. the thief once they catch him.
Eric: No? "No" what? Why don't you just tell me what's really going on here?
Eric: [Exhales] Hello? [Exhales] Yes, of course. Can you give me a minute? It's Sister Margaret. A parishioner needs to talk to me in private. I gotta take this. Can we talk about this later?
EJ: What happened with Nick? Did he threaten you?
Sami: No. Not really.
EJ: Not really, not really. What exactly did he say to you?
Sami: Well, he finally admitted that he doesn't want Will to be a part of that baby's life.
EJ: Fine. What does it have to do with him? Nothing.
Sami: Well, it does have something to do with him, and the other thing he said that was interesting is that he had paid for his crimes, but that other people hadn't.
Sami: What are you doing?
EJ: Calling his parole officer.
Sami: No, no-no-no, no. EJ, you can't--we can't. No, I can't have him thrown in prison!
EJ: You are not going to have him thrown in prison, Samantha.
Sami: Well, Gabi, and Will, and the entire Horton family will think that it's because of me.
EJ: I don't care.
Sami: I know, but come on. Think about this. He has a point. I was in Gabi's face. I got her so upset that she ended up in the hospital.
EJ: Would you just please stop it, Samantha? Gabi going into premature labor had nothing to do with you. Like I said, there were underlying causes. It doesn't happen because somebody blows up in her face. I'm sorry. Can you just please stop blaming yourself, please? The only thing that is important now is how we deal with this going forward.
Sami: All right.
Gabi: [Inhales] Nick.
Nick: Hey. How are you feeling?
Gabi: Tired. The baby--
Nick: The baby's fine. [Exhales] I'm so sorry.
Gabi: What? I know you didn't do anything wrong.
Nick: I told you I would protect you, and I didn't.
Gabi: Please, don't blame this on yourself, okay? Don't.
Nick: I promise you I will never let anything happen to you or our baby ever again. [Exhales]
Will: Like I said, you know, I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to walk out the door and never look back.
Sonny: Is that what you want me to do?
Sonny: You didn't have to tell me all of that.
Will: Yeah, I did. I wanted to, and I wanted you to know because I want things to be different this time.
Sonny: And it will be.
Will: I hope so. I mean, if this is going to be a new beginning for us, I don't wanna make the same mistakes that I did before.
Sonny: You won't, and neither will I.
Will: [Exhales] Yeah, what mistakes did you make?
Sonny: I made everything that you were going through all about me. You know, I didn't stop to think what this meant for you, and I wanna be there for you when your daughter's born, and I wanna see you hold her hand for the first time.
Will: I wanna see you hold her. I can't wait to see that.
Sonny: I just love you so much.
Kristen: Father, would you please calm down?
Stefano: Calm down, she says, as if this is voluntary.
Kristen: I just would like to tell you, please.
Stefano: No. Do you understand me? Absolutely not. I will not have that so-called man in my house!
Kristen: We've been over this, and you know why it has to be this way.
Stefano: Uh-huh, because of your plan.
Kristen: That's right. Now, just calm down. Imagine for a second the looks on John and Marlena's faces when they learn that Brady's in my bed under your roof.
Stefano: Ah. [Chuckles] Well, you know, well, yeah, that would be like a dagger in their hearts, wouldn't it, knowing that one of theirs now belongs to us? Listen. A friend of mine tells me that John is still in Rome, hm? Perhaps I'll take this little bit of information to him personally.
Kristen: [Laughs] Father, I love the way you turn on a dime about things when you finally see the light. Yes, that's a wonderful idea. I wish I could be the one to tell Marlena, but, unfortunately, it's not up to me.
Brady: So Eric and Nicole, they're okay?
Marlena: Yes, they were both very lucky. Then we had a scare with Gabi. She went into premature labor.
Brady: You're k--is she okay?
Marlena: She's fine. They were able to stop it.
Brady: My gosh. Marlena, with everything going on, why didn't somebody call me?
Marlena: Nobody thought you would take their call.
Brady: I see. Well, and it's a--that's very inaccurate and unfair. I would've taken anyone's call.
Marlena: What did you want to talk to me about?
Brady: Um, nothing. Nothing--no, it's not important. It can wait.
Marlena: Really? Are you sure?
Marlena: Okay then. You know, we love you very much. Very much. And we still need you in this family.
Rafe: Hey there, sleepyhead.
Gabi: [Sighs] You're here.
Rafe: Where else would I be? Hm?
Gabi: Nick was so worried about me.
Rafe: Yeah. Well, we all were.
Gabi: I love you guys so much. Where's Nick?
Rafe: Said he had to take care of something.
Sami: You should send Gabi flowers.
EJ: You promised me you're not gonna accept culpability in that note.
Sami: You always think like such an attorney.
EJ: You're lucky to have me.
Sami: Sure enough, but I think I have an idea. I mean, if I can win Gabi over, maybe Nick will come around too.
EJ: Why do you need Nick to come around? You don't.
Sami: You're right. I don't. There's nothing Nick can do to keep Will from his baby girl.
Sonny: You know, we're gonna need to get a bigger place especially if your daughter's gonna be staying with us.
Will: I love you.
[Knocks at door]
Nick: Will, open up. Will, I need to talk to you right now. Open up. Hello? Will?
Kristen: Wait a second. Before you hang up, Father, there's something that you need to know. It's really important.
Stefano: [Speaking Italian] What is it now?
Kristen: Well, when you do come back to Salem, I need you to pretend that you are on death's doorstep.
Stefano: Why would I do such a thing, huh? As a matter of fact, I haven't felt this good in years.
Kristen: I'm aware of that, but the only way that I could convince Brady to move into your house with me was to tell him that you had one foot in heaven, or, you know, wherever. Well, thank you. Really, thank you so much for being so understanding. All right, I'll talk to you soon. Bye.
Nicole: [Exhales] Dear God, if you're there, and you haven't completely crossed me off, I need your help. I need you to do something to set me free from Eric.
Eric: Okay, thank you.
