Nicole: I heard Kate talking to Billie--well, gloating is more like it. She gave Jennifer the dirt on you.
Nicole: And I'm not talking about your overdue library books. [Whispering] I think she told Jennifer that you were a prostitute.
Chloe: Jennifer knows?
Nicole: Yeah, you know what? That woman thinks she's the moral authority of Salem. She will take that ball and run with it, Chloe.
Chloe: I have to get to Daniel.
Nicole: Oh, I think it might be too late, because I also heard Kate say that she saw Daniel talking to Jennifer at the square. I think he might already know the whole dirty story.
Daniel: What? What is it? You were gonna tell me something about Parker.
Jennifer: No, I mean, he's fine. He's fine. Nothing-- nothing happened.
Daniel: Okay, well, then why--why are you so upset?
Jennifer: I don't--I just-- I need to talk to you... about Chloe.
Daniel: Okay. I'll bite. What about Chloe?
Brady: What is this?
Kristen: You were so happy that Brady was in my bed, because to your everlasting relief, it would keep John out of it.
John: [Sighs] Well, is it true, Doc? Were you happy that Kristen was sleeping with my son because it kept her away from me?
John: Is that why you didn't tell me they were having an affair? Well, is it?
Will: "To Gabi and Nick, all the best. Will."
[Door opens, closes]
Will: [Sighs] Don't you work for a living?
Sami: I was on my way there when I saw you sneaking in here in my rearview mirror.
Will: Yeah, I need a-- I was looking for my book.
Sami: I would've helped you find it. All you had to do was answer one of the 700 messages I left on your voice mail.
Will: Yeah, I know. Yeah, sorry. Well, uh, I'm gonna go, so--
Sami: No, Will, you are not going anywhere until we talk. We have to talk...
Will: Yeah, but not--
Sami: Like you promised me that we would.
Will: Not now.
Sami: Right now. And you and I are going to keep talking until we figure out what you're gonna do about that baby that Gabi is carrying... until you figure out what you are going to do about your child.
Daniel: Okay, you know what? You know what? Um, I retract what I said... because I don't-- I don't want to talk about Chloe.
Daniel: Okay, look, I know you're worried about her being back, about what she could try to do, but... that's really just a waste of time, because there is nothing she can say or do that will change things with us.
Jennifer: Well, I think that's being naive.
Jennifer: She's the mother of your son. You are connected permanently.
Daniel: And I'm in love with you. My connection with Chloe--yeah, it may be permanent, but only because we... I mean, we share a son. Other than that, I plan to stay completely out of her life, and all that matters is that she is a good mother to Parker.
Chloe: Well, the square's not that far. Maybe I can get there before she tells him.
Nicole: Wait, Chloe, no, no, no, no. How long do you think it will take for Jennifer to say, "Your kid's mother was a hooker"?
Chloe: You're enjoying this, aren't you?
Nicole: No. No, I'm not. I'm just trying to--I'm just trying to get you to see. I'm trying to get you to wake up. Chloe, w--this isn't junior high. Kate just--she didn't write me notes about you. And it's not like you had a... a chance with Daniel anyway. He's... he got over you. He moved on.
Chloe: But he didn't know that Parker was his son.
Nicole: But it doesn't fix what happened in your marriage. It doesn't change the fact that you cheated on him when you were married.
Chloe: I will make it up to him.
Nicole: No, Chloe, do you really think when Daniel finds out that the two of you are just going to put Parker in the back of your car and drive off into the sunset? You turned tricks. And he's in love with Jennifer, who sings in the Sunday choir. There's no way in hell you're gonna get this guy.
Chloe: Watch. I will do anything to get him back... anything.
Jennifer: Do you think that Chloe is a good mother?
Daniel: No, I don't think. I know. There is--there is something about Chloe. Okay, let's look at what's going on right now. Parker's life just did a 180, right? Now, he was told this dude who he doesn't even know is his dad. His granddad isn't his granddad, but this redheaded lady is his grandmother, right? And through all of it, Chloe has been so steady, making sure that it all works out best for Parker. It's like she has this sixth sense in her to do what is best for our child.
Jennifer: And you know what? I am really glad that you told me that. And I'm really glad to know that about her. I am.
Daniel: Good. 'Cause it's true. So can we just couch the conversation on Chloe?
Jennifer: Yes, we can. We can, and we should, actually, 'cause I need to get back to work.
Daniel: You do? All right. Uh, let's--let's go. I will walk you.
Chloe: Oh, Daniel! Wait! [Breathing heavily]
Brady: That's your handwriting, right?
Kristen: Did I take too long in there? Did you get bored? You had to go through my trash can?
Brady: See, now you're not really answering my question. Why would you write a note that says, "I know what you're doing"?
Kristen: Hey, Marlena. You're so silly. It's work related.
Kristen: Yeah, really. EJ was here earlier, and, um, he was on speaker with a vendor from New York, you know, negotiating, and, um, EJ was bluffing. So I just wanted him to understand that I knew what he was doing, see? And this was my way of... telling him that we were on the same page, you know, before I went into this kind of good cop, bad cop kind of thing.
Brady: That was-- that was really good for spur of the moment. [Chuckles]
Kristen: You don't believe me?
Brady: Kristen, you have-- you have $12,000 worth of technology in the room, and you're negotiating on a speakerphone? I mean, that's kind of outdated, don't you think?
Kristen: Baby, how come you're making such a big deal out of this?
Brady: I'm not making-- it just seems kind of...
Kristen: Silly, come on.
Brady: Sorry, uh...
Kristen: Brady, what?
Brady: Ugh. Ow. Ow.
Kristen: Brady? Brady? What's the matter?
Marlena: John, please, let's go home.
John: No, I don't want to do that. I don't want to go anywhere until I get some answers here. So why were you recording your conversation with Kristen?
Marlena: That should be obvious to you. I was--I was trying to get some proof of what she was doing-- of what she was up to.
Marlena: And... like his father before him, Brady did not believe what I was telling him about Kristen.
John: Well, it seems to me this recording is a little more revealing about you than her.
Marlena: I was trying to draw her out. Look, it was a long shot. All I-- all I was trying to do was save our family.
John: Yeah, well, seeing as how you didn't volunteer to share the tape, I'll take a stab in the dark. Your little plan didn't work?
Marlena: No... she figured out what I was doing, and then she lied the whole time.
John: Ah, she lied. But the part about why you didn't tell me about them being together, that part was true, right?
Marlena: No, John, not here.
John: No, this is all making sense now, why you didn't come clean and tell me about this at the hospital.
Marlena: Because I knew how much it would hurt you.
John: Or maybe you didn't want me to know how much you didn't trust me.
John: Or maybe you didn't feel that I loved you enough. Or maybe I wasn't strong enough to stay out of her bed, so you were happy that she was distracted by my own son. That's it, isn't it, Doc? Come on, that's it, Doc. Why don't you just admit it?
Marlena: I'll tell you the truth. I'll tell you all of it.
Daniel: Are you--are you all right? You seem a little tense.
Chloe: Uh, it's--um, uh--
Chloe: Yeah, I am.
Daniel: Um, well, you, uh-- hey, you just yelled at me to stop, and now you're not really saying anything.
Chloe: Oh, uh... well--
Daniel: Is this Victor-related? 'Cause he can have that effect on people.
Chloe: No, um, I was--I was wondering if you had Parker's bunny, because he's really gonna need it when he gets his booster shots.
Daniel: Yeah, well, not to worry. I gave it to Maggie.
Chloe: Oh, good, good, great. Uh, 'cause I'm--I'm meeting her at the hospital, so I'll just get it from her there.
Daniel: Well, there you go. Bunny crisis averted.
Chloe: [Laughs] I guess so.
Jennifer: Yeah, excuse me. I really need to get going, so I'll just--I'll catch up with you later.
Daniel: Um, you know what? No, I'll, uh--I'll go with you, okay? I'll--I'll see you later.
Chloe: Okay. Why didn't you tell him, Jennifer?
Nicole: Hey, Chloe.
Nicole: You're still standing. What happened?
Chloe: I don't know. Daniel still doesn't know anything, but Jennifer knows.
Nicole: She knows, and she didn't say anything? Why not?
Chloe: I have no idea, but thank God, 'cause it's gonna buy me some time.
Will: You--I really, really don't want to talk about this.
Sami: Oh, really? Well, I didn't want to become a grandmother while you were still in school, but guess what. I'm gonna be. And you are going to talk to me about this.
Will: Uh, why? It's not gonna change anything.
Sami: I need to understand what is going on in your life, Will. I mean, like, let's start with the fact that you got Gabi pregnant.
Will: Yeah, that was a-- that was a one-time mistake.
Sami: You created a life.
Will: Yeah. I know that. Yeah.
Sami: Well, were you thinking about that when you drove her to the abortion clinic?
Sami: Don't what? Don't what? Are you saying that it wasn't your idea? Okay. Okay, then why did you do it? Why did you take her there? Did she talk you into it?
Will: Because I wanted to respect what she wanted to do. It was her body, and I didn't feel like I had a say. You know what? I think you of all people should have a little empathy for what she was going through.
Sami: I do. Believe me, I do. But you know who I care about right now? You... because you are facing an incredibly difficult and scary situation... and I don't understand why you are being so passive about it. I don't understand why you are okay with her getting an abortion. I don't understand why you are okay with her passing that child off as Nick's to the entire world. I just want to understand. I want to understand what you're thinking, how you are feeling. And I need to know if you are really prepared to turn your back on the fact that that is your child.
Cameron: Well, your BP's a little low, so, uh, we need to keep monitoring that. And I want you in for another checkup.
Brady: Come on, Cameron. I-I got light-headed. That's all that happened.
Cameron: Brady, you've been to the hospital twice in the last few months, okay? Head injuries are nothing to fool around with. Just ask the NFL.
Kristen: Do you think this has something to do with what happened, the concussion he got in the mugging?
Cameron: [Sighs] We need to be sure one way or another.
Kristen: So you did a good job. It was a little rough, but that's okay. There's a bonus in there for you.
Man: That guy doesn't look like the description you gave me.
Kristen: [Sighs] Well, it was supposed to be his father, but I think it's all gonna work out for the best.
Marlena: These last few months have given me a renewed appreciation for Kafka. A woman who tried to kill me shows up in my life again, and my husband and my stepson believe her over me.
John: Kafka? Hell, that's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about you. You didn't have faith in me. Kristen said on this tape that you were happy she was sleeping with my son because it kept her away from me. And all I'm asking you right now is, is it true?
Marlena: Yes. It was.
Nicole: Could you listen to me, please? Listen to someone who's gone up against her. I mean, underneath that Glinda the Good Witch lies a tiger. I mean, she went after me so hard, Daniel ended up defending me.
Chloe: So you're saying I'm still not in the clear?
Nicole: Honey, the light from "in the clear" would take about 8 million years to get to you.
Chloe: [Sighs] But you said that he defended you because he's that kind of guy. So he wouldn't like it if Jennifer was being malicious.
Nicole: Ooh, what are you getting at?
Chloe: A Hail Mary pass. I'm gonna turn what could've been a disaster into an advantage. But I have to act fast. Okay, I'm gonna go. We'll talk later. All right.
Nicole: That girl makes me look sane and rational.
Cameron: Keep him honest. If he feels faint, gets a headache, make sure he gets to the hospital.
Kristen: I absolutely will. Thank you so much for making a house call.
Cameron: Ah, never a problem. I was in the neighborhood.
Kristen: Bye. Tell me the truth.
Kristen: I want the truth, I want the truth, I want the truth. How are you really?
Brady: The truth?
Brady: I'm fine. I'm okay, really.
Kristen: I just didn't-- I just didn't want you to be hurt like this.
Brady: It's not like you planned it, right?
Kristen: [Laughs] No. I just hate to see you hurting, and I-I hate that I came between you and your father.
Brady: Kristen, none of that was your fault. You know what I wish?
Brady: I wish my dad and Marlena were right here, right now.
Kristen: Okay, that's kind of weird.
Brady: No, it's not. If they could see how you were looking after me... they would know that you and I are the real deal.
Nicole: Ugh. [Slams laptop] [Sighs]
Eric: You lose at solitaire again?
Nicole: No, actually. I'm trying to do your budget, which would be a hell of a lot easier if every entry wasn't labeled "miscellaneous."
Eric: Well, you don't have to swear. Why don't you just tell me what's really bothering you?
Nicole: Oh. Oh, I see. You want me to open up and share my inner feelings. Well, you know, Padre, since you made it very clear that you don't trust me with your problems, I'm just not gonna burden you with mine, okay?
Chloe: So what do you think?
Anne: I think it's perfect. And you can count on me. I would love to help wipe that prissy little smirk off Jennifer Horton's face.
Chloe: Good. We don't have a lot of time, though.
Anne: Well, I'll get to work as soon as I get back to the hospital.
Chloe: Thank you.
Chloe: You have no idea how important this is.
Will: Mom, I'm not turning my back on anyone. I'm trying to do what's best for my baby.
Sami: And you thought what was best for the baby was for you not to be a part of its life... for it to be raised by an ex-con?
Will: You know, he and Gabi were gonna be married, and the most important thing was that the baby was gonna be part of an actual family.
Sami: The baby is part of an actual family.
Sami: The Hernandez family and the Bradys and the Hortons. You have a huge family, a huge support system of aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents and great-grandparents who are prepared and willing and wanting to help you give that baby a wonderful life. And you turned your back on all of us.
Will: Sorry. It won't happen again.
Sami: Will, would you look at me? I am not judging you! I am not judging you! I am trying to get through to you! I am trying to make you understand what you are doing. I am trying to help remind you of how all these painful experiences that I have lived through can be a lesson for you--that you keep secrets from the people that you love, and it hurts everyone! It never works out! You have witnessed that yourself! I could have helped you.
Will: Yeah, that was my... my big sin--not coming to you.
Sami: Are you kidding me right now? I would do anything for you!
Will: I didn't have a choice, Mom. We agreed not to tell anybody. And just for the record... if I was going to tell somebody, it wouldn't have been you, because I've learned from many painful experiences myself that you just make everything worse.
Eric: I'm sorry you feel that way. I didn't open up with you not because I don't trust you. It was a privacy matter that wasn't mine to share. I told you. It's my family.
Nicole: I know. I talked to Brady. He told me the whole story.
Nicole: And I understand why you're upset. I mean, Brady and John duking it out until they both ended up in the hospital?
Eric: Yeah, well, cuts and bruises--they heal. It's just--John and Brady were so close. I don't think it'll ever be like that again.
Nicole: Why, because of one fight?
Eric: No, because of Kristen DiMera. John was involved with her. I mean, look at everything she did to my mother. And now Brady's involved with her? You didn't know that, did you?
Nicole: Brady's doing Kristen?
Eric: You said you knew the whole story.
Nicole: Well, you could understand why Brady would keep that under wraps. Kristen? I mean, I thought he was scraping the bottom of the barrel when he was with me, but Kristen? I mean, come on. Eric, I'm--I'm sorry.
Eric: It's just that it's tearing my whole family apart.
Marlena: You have been laser-focused on my betrayal of you. And I was flailing around-- black was white, up was down.
John: And you didn't trust me. So you made a unilateral decision to let my son keep on with that woman, because you thought it was better him than me in her bed, regardless of the fact that I love you, Doc, and I would never do that to you.
Marlena: Did you ever wonder why you were so quick to believe that Kristen had changed? Because you wanted to believe it. You wanted that woman back, that woman you'd fallen in love with. So can you look me in the eye and tell me that some part of you--some small part--is still not attracted to her?
Anne: You know what you're supposed to do?
Nurse: Sure do. This is right up my alley.
Jennifer: Jennifer Horton.
Anne: Uh, this is Anne Milbauer. I've run into a little problem. I need you to come to the nurses' station.
Jennifer: Yes, I will be right there. Could this day get any worse?
Chloe: Sorry, I was--I was just wondering if you had a minute.
Daniel: Yeah, yeah, but aren't you supposed to be with-- with Parker right now?
Chloe: Yeah, I asked Maggie to stay with him during his shots.
Chloe: Um... there's something that I have to tell you.
Chloe: Ugh, this is really hard to say, but you have to hear it from me, and, uh, well, I have to tell you now. [Sighs] After Parker was born, I made a really terrible mistake... a terrible, stupid, self-destructive mistake.
Daniel: Okay, Chloe, I know that you were depressed, and I know that you tried to hurt yourself.
Chloe: Yeah, it's more than that. It--it's worse, actually. And I-I don't know if you'll be able to understand it. Um...
Daniel: Okay, Chloe. Just talk to me. Tell me.
Chloe: Before I left Salem... before I came to my senses... I was... I was working as a prostitute.
Sami: I know I'm not perfect, and I know I have a lot of mistakes that I will have to answer for. I am not preaching. I'm not judging you. I am just trying to understand.
Will: So saying that I turned my back on my whole family and I turned my back on my child wasn't judging?
Sami: Okay, you're right. I shouldn't have said it. But I just don't get it. It just seems so out of character for you to just give up like that, for you to just let go.
Will: That's not out of character for me, Mom, that's just not what you would do. Yeah, you wouldn't let go. You wouldn't give up.
Sami: You're trying to tell me something.
Will: Yeah, I think the most important thing for my child is to have a mother and a father in the same home, have a mother and a father that don't hate each other... if there weren't any custody discussions or custody confusion... if I did just let go... if I gave up and I let him grow up in peace.
Sami: I just really failed you, didn't it?
Will: I didn't say that. I'm just saying I don't want my child... in a broken home.
Sami: Because of how you grew up?
Will: Oh, my God.
Sami: Because of me.
Will: This isn't about you.
Sami: You're right about that. It is about you and what you are going to do with your child.
Nicole: Hey. You want to get a drink, on me?
Eric: [Laughs] Nicole. [Laughs] I'm a priest. I can't just go have a drink in the middle of the afternoon.
Nicole: [Groans] I hate your job. Come on, I want to make it up to you for being a total pain while you were going through all your issues with your family.
Eric: Well, you could just start by saying you're sorry. I would absolve you.
Nicole: Oh. Okay, then. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. [Laughs] Okay, but then you have to tell me that I wasn't a total pain.
Eric: Well, you never are a total pain. Why don't you just start by telling me what really is bothering you?
Nicole: Okay. Well, um, I'm worried about a friend--two, actually.
Eric: Do I know them?
Nicole: Mm-hmm. Daniel... and Chloe.
Eric: Chloe Lane? That's Brady's ex-wife.
Nicole: And Daniel's ex-wife too. She's in town. And I'm sensing there's gonna be a little trouble.
Chloe: You... thought I'd already sunk as low as I could go.
Daniel: No, I did not say that, and I certainly do not think that.
Chloe: Well, part of pulling myself out of that hell was looking things dead in the eye. And that was as low as a person could go. But, um, I'm not excusing myself or trying to make this sound any better, um, but...
Daniel: But what?
Chloe: I was forced into it. I was blackmailed.
Daniel: I'm sorry, you were blackmailed?
Daniel: By who? By who? You tell me and I will kill them.
Chloe: Please, Daniel--
Daniel: No, you tell me, Chloe.
Chloe: You don't have to protect me. If any good came out of that horrible time, it's that I was able to pull myself together on my own. I was able to make myself a person who could be a better mother to Parker. I hope now that you know, you believe that I am no longer that person.
Daniel: Let me tell you what I do know. By the way you raised our son, I can tell you are not that person.
Chloe: [Sighs] God, wow. I-I didn't want to tell you, but... now that I did, I'm really glad. Thank God you heard it from me and not...
Daniel: Not who?
Chloe: Yeah, she knows.
Chloe: I heard Kate telling her daughter that she was telling Jennifer. Um, you know how fond Kate has always been of me.
Daniel: So that's why you were upset just now? And that's why Jennifer--
Chloe: Yeah. I could tell that she knew. And I could tell that she hadn't told you. I guess she really is as nice as everyone says she is.
Daniel: She is.
Chloe: And I'm guessing that Kate was counting on her using that against me. But it's nice to know that she's above something like that.
Daniel: She is above anything like that.
John: Can't believe you just said that, Doc. I can't believe that you don't know that I love you and not Kristen.
Marlena: I didn't say that. I was trying to point out that--
John: You know, in fact, I really can't believe any of this. You know what it seems like to me? It seems like that--that someone has just kind of--kind of switched out two people that I love, you and Brady, with these... complete strangers.
Marlena: I know exactly how that feels.
John: You know what I need? [Sighs] I need to figure out what the hell's going on with us. What to do about my son and...
Marlena: And? What?
John: What to do about our marriage.
Sami: Will, the most honest thing you've said so far is that this isn't about me. This is about you and what you're gonna do about your baby.
Will: And you think I don't know that?
Sami: No, but I don't think you've really come to terms with the fact that your situation has changed, that the idea that it might be best for this baby if you passed it off as Nick's is not on the table anymore. It is not an option anymore. Before you know it, that unborn baby is gonna be born, and they're gonna grow up and they're gonna have thoughts and ideas, and they're gonna know a lot more than you think... whether you want them to or not. Ask me about how it feels to have secrets blow up in your face. Ask me how it feels to have your child look at you and you know-- you just--you just know that they are thinking about all the things that you did and why you did them. Whatever you decide to do about your baby, someday, that child will grow up... and he or she is gonna look at you and judge you. So are you gonna be a father to this child or not?
Brady: Mmm. Okay, I am--
Kristen: Where are you going?
Brady: I'm gonna take a shower. Well, try to take a shower. [Clears throat] But would, uh-- would you care to join me? I'd love some company.
Kristen: Yes, but I'm just gonna check some messages first.
Brady: Check 'em fast, okay?
Kristen: I will.
Kristen: No. [Sighs] Stay focused. Stay focused. Just gotta string him along a little bit longer. And then it'll all be over.
John: This place is so toxic. I think I need to step away from Salem for a while, find a place where I can find some space and think.
Marlena: Where will you go?
John: I don't know.
Marlena: You'll call me when you get there?
John: Oh, I don't know.
Marlena: John. John, please. You can't do this.
John: I have to.
Marlena: Please, don't do it. No, you know what? You have to talk to me.
John: I can't talk about this.
Anne: It's done.
Chloe: Thank you. Now I just have to wait and see.
[Knock at door]
Daniel: Do you have a second?
Jennifer: Yeah, sure.
Daniel: I, uh--I just talked to Chloe. And she told me about, um-- about her life right before she left Salem.
Daniel: But she also told me that she's pretty sure that you know about it too. Is that true?
Jennifer: I guess I'm not really sure what you're talking about.
Daniel: That she was a-- Jennifer... why do you have the number to Child Protective Services? Is this about Chloe?
