Episode #11988 ~ Kristen & Brady Share a Romantic Christmas Morning; Sami Talks to Eric About Her Love Life
Provided By Suzanne
Eric: Almost got it. All right. Want to take it for a test run?
Sami: [Sighs] Hey, hey, careful. Don't run anyone over.
Eric: Like who? The place is empty.
Sami: Like us. You think I'm neurotic, don't you?
Eric: I think you're a good mom.
Sami: A neurotic mom. It's okay. You can admit it. Meanwhile, I always thought you were gonna make the world's best dad.
Eric: Well, I can settle for world's best uncle.
Sami: I'm sorry. I know I haven't always been super supportive of the whole... priest thing. But seeing you here living it, seeing how happy you--you are, right? You are happy?
Eric: Yeah. I think I know where God wants me to be. Well, for now anyway.
Sami: I wish I could say the same thing.
Eric: And why can't you?
Will: [Chuckling] Hey. Long time no see.
Sonny: [Shivers] I just wanted to thank you so much for last night. You know, 'cause, growing up, I always heard about these magical Horton Christmases, but I had no idea how fun they are. You know, the ornaments and the gingerbread. Phenomenal.
Will: Mm-hmm. Hmm.
Julie: Leave town a while, you miss a lot.
Daniel: Yeah, I love you too, sweetheart. Okay, wait, wait, wait, wait, no, Abigail and Maggie want to say good-bye too.
Daniel: Okay. Yes. All right. Mwah. Here you go.
Daniel: I'm going, I'm going.
Maggie: You take one, I'll take one.
Jennifer: How's she doing?
Daniel: Great. She's doing really great. I mean, I missed her, but I'm glad she's doing her thing.
Jennifer: Yeah. She had a good Christmas?
Daniel: Yeah, she did. She did. Of course, thanks to the time difference, hers is about over. But I think ours is just about to begin.
Jennifer: I think so.
Billie: Aww, I love you, Chelsea. I miss you like crazy. All right, you go play with max, and I will talk to you really soon. All right. Bye. Mwah.
Lucas: Hey, Billie, what's happening?
Billie: Hi. Oh, I got you an egg nog latte.
Lucas: Ooh, good news. Thank you.
Billie: I just talked to Chelsea. She sends her love.
Lucas: Oh, right back at her. Ooh, that's good.
Billie: Oh, good.
Lucas: Where's mom? Thought she'd be here.
Billie: I bet she's gonna make some dramatic entrance to tell us her good news or whatever it is. I don't know.
Kate: Actually, it is great news.
Lucas: Mom's here!
Kate: Merry Christmas, baby. Merry Christmas, sweetie.
Billie: Merry Christmas, mama.
Kate: Oh, my gosh. You know, and, despite all predictions to the contrary, I'm feeling that this is shaping up to be one of the best ones in a long time. [Chuckles]
Brady: You know, a few months ago, if somebody said, "Brady, you're gonna have a nice Christmas this year"...
Brady: I would have told them they were crazy.
Kristen: You know what? I was just thinking the same exact thing. Is that crazy?
[Knock at door]
Brady: Did you order room service?
Men: Merry Christmas.
Chad: She's got to be home on Christmas morning. She doesn't have any friends in town besides us.
Brady: What the hell are we gonna do now?
Eric: Aren't you happy, Sami? I mean, those kids over there, they're amazing.
Sami: Oh, they are. Of course they are. But I don't think I get to take credit for it.
Eric: Sure you can.
Sami: Eric, they have had three different fathers in their lives, and now they have no one.
Eric: They got you. And me. It's Christmas. So stop thinking about Rafe and EJ, decisions, or the future. Just think about what a great day it is. Enjoy it.
Julie: [Clears throat]
Sonny: Uh, sorry.
Julie: What for?
Doug: It's called mistletoe and magic.
Julie: And I'm sure you two know the difference between them.
Will: So, hey, where are you guys going?
Doug: Hospital. For the kids' party.
Julie: See you there?
Both: Mm-hmm, yeah.
Nick: All right, well, we'll leave you guys to do your thing.
Will: Actually, you know, I think there's something that I would like to talk about.
Gabi: Is there a problem?
Will: Yeah. And I think you know what it is.
Maggie: Well, this is fun, but we better get to the hospital.
Abigail: Okay, I will get the gifts.
Maggie: And I'll help.
Jennifer: Um, okay. Daniel, um...
Jennifer: I feel really bad. I didn't get you a present.
Daniel: I didn't get you a gift.
Jennifer: [Gasps] I'm so glad you just said that. Now I don't feel so bad.
Daniel: No, 'cause I just-- I mean, I just didn't think it was appropriate, since we didn't even have an official date.
Daniel: Of course, we're remedying that tomorrow, assuming you want to.
Jennifer: Yeah. Yeah, I want to.
Daniel: That would be the best Christmas gift you could give me.
Jennifer: I think so too.
Victor: Hey, Henderson's brought the car around. You two coming?
Jennifer: Yes, yes.
Daniel: Yes, yes, yes, we're coming, we're coming.
Daniel: I got the door.
Brady: Merry Christmas.
Kristen: Okay, okay.
Chad: Maybe she went out to grab breakfast or something.
EJ: Yes, we should check at the front desk. [Silently] Stay here.
Kristen: [Gasps] Brothers.
EJ: Christmas elves are here.
Chad: Merry Christmas.
EJ: Did we wake you?
Kristen: No, I just didn't-- you know, I didn't sleep that well last night.
EJ: Really? Everything okay?
Kristen: Yeah. It's just after midnight mass, you know, kind of had a dark night of the soul, lots of tossing and turning.
Kristen: I don't know. Guess I was just kind of contemplating things, like, what's God's plan for me now that I'm back in Salem?
EJ: [Chuckles] Did you come to any conclusions?
Kristen: I did. And I realized I just need to keep on doing what I'm doing. Everything will fall into place.
Kate: So, regardless of the heartache that last year brought, I still have my beautiful children and my grandchildren. And I have my health, because I just had my annual checkup, and I am still in remission, four years.
Billie: Yay. That's such good news, mom.
Lucas: Yes, yes.
Kate: So, with the reminder that I have my whole life in front of me, I choose to start this year fresh, looking forwards, not backwards.
Lucas: Sounds like a great idea to me.
Billie: It sure does for all of us. Yes.
Lucas: I guess that means we have a lot to celebrate now. And you are not spending your Christmas in a hotel room.
Lucas: That's not happening. So you're coming with me to Jennifer's house. So are you, Billie.
Billie: Oh, well, I don't know if that would make the Hortons' Christmas so merry.
Lucas: Bo and hope aren't there. Come on, relax. And, mom, you're the reason I am a Horton, so we're all family. We should spend Christmas together. Stay together as a unit. Come on. I mean, if Gabi Hernandez can get an ornament, please, I think we can go.
Kate: Okay, you know... you're right.
Billie: You're right.
Kate: We would love to go. Thank you.
Billie: Yes, they always have good food there.
Lucas: Don't they?
Billie: Yes, they do. I'll go.
Lucas: Doughnuts it is.
Will: Look, today's Christmas, and I know that we're not always gonna be one, big, you know, happy family all the time, but I hope that, since we are family, maybe we can just get along for one day today.
Gabi: That sounds great to me.
Nick: Yeah. Who knows? We might even be able to go two or three days.
Will: Yeah, that's the spirit.
Gabi: Okay, well, we're gonna head over to the hospital.
Will: Us too.
Will: Okay, let's spread some Christmas cheer.
Abe: You know what?
Kayla: Oh, here you go.
Abe: I remember the year that Lexie talked me into being Santa. It was the most fun I ever had. So I want to thank you for knowing more than I did. This is exactly where Theo and I belong.
Abigail: Cameron. Merry Christmas.
Cameron: To you too.
Theo: Gingerbread houses. Come see.
Cameron: Oh, I like the ones with the lollipop street lamp. Come on.
Maxine: I thought you were gonna read the Christmas story.
Julie: Oh, I was all prepared, but then my darling had this great idea on the way over.
Doug: Well, dr. Tom Horton read the story so many years, and now one of his own granddaughters is working right here in his own hospital, so who better than Jennifer?
Jennifer: Oh, no. No, I could think of a dozen others who could read that story. Really, please, I don't...
Maggie: Well, sweetheart, I can't. There's really no one more perfect to do this than you.
Chad: Now that's a lifetime supply of half-caf soy sugar-free lattes.
Kristen: Wow. You are good.
Chad: I know. I know. I know. Merry Christmas.
Kristen: Thank you.
Chad: You're welcome.
Kristen: I don't know. It's gonna be pretty tough to top that one.
EJ: But we thought we'd give it a shot, didn't we?
Kristen: We did.
EJ: Merry Christmas.
Chad: What is this?
Kristen: Well, since you are so generously financing my caffeine habit, I beseech you to...
EJ: Your own corporate credit card.
Chad: The DiMera corporate card?
Chad: Are you serious? No, no way, I couldn't--no.
EJ: Yes, of course you can. Yes, you can. Put it in there. There we go.
Kristen: Well, EJ and I figured that it was about time you started to enjoy the perks of being a family member, because God knows he has suffered the liabilities. I mean...
Chad: Well, I mean, when you put it that way, I'm just gonna hang on to it for a little bit.
Kristen: Oh, good, good.
Chad: But thank you so much.
EJ: You're welcome.
Kristen: But we're actually not the ones you should thank.
Chad: Oh, yeah?
Stefano: Ho, ho, ho. Merry Christmas.
Sami: Thank you. What you said really helped.
Eric: No, it didn't.
Eric: Well, I know that look. It's the "I'm not gonna listen to a word he says" look.
Sami: That is not true. I'm gonna listen.
Eric: Would you stop?
Brady: Hey, hey, hey, merry Christmas, you two. What are you doing?
Both: Merry Christmas.
Sami: Merry Christmas.
Brady: Merry Christmas. Stop it.
All: Uncle Brady!
Brady: Hey, how you doing, guys? Hi, sweetie, hi. Look at all the cool stuff you guys got. You must have been really good this year, huh?
Sami: Yeah, I should say so. Santa thought so.
Sami: Hey, Brady, what--what are you wearing, same outfit you had on at church last night?
Brady: Uh, I don't know. Maybe.
Sami: Yeah, I'm thinking-- thinking so.
[Cell phone ringing]
Brady: Excuse me.
Sami: What, Eric? He is. Oh, saved by the bell.
Stefano: I am really sorry that I am not going to be home for Christmas, but this is the next best thing.
EJ: Maybe even better.
Stefano: Alexandra would absolutely be gratified if she could see the three of you together like this without arguing, and you are actually celebrating.
EJ: A part of me almost thinks this must be her doing.
Kristen: Yeah, me too.
Chad: Yeah, definitely.
Stefano: Well, I guess really I-I don't say it enough, and as a matter of fact I'm pretty sure that I don't even show it enough, but I want you to know something--that I love the three of you. I love you more than you know, huh? So merry Christmas, huh? [Chuckles] Yes. To my beautiful children, I love you so. Mwah.
Kristen: Merry Christmas. Bye.
EJ: [Clears throat]
Kayla: Victor. I understand that you're the guest of honor this year.
Victor: Did you ever try and say no to Maggie?
Kayla: I wouldn't.
Jennifer: I mean, why me? Kayla's chief of staff. She should really do it.
Julie: But you are a Horton. Now, Jennifer, you're not gonna disappoint your aunt Maggie and me, are you?
Maggie: You've read the Christmas story before.
Jennifer: I know, it's--it's just that that was when Jack...
Maggie: I know, honey. I still see tom sitting in the chair, and Alice. And Mickey. So many wonderful memories. But so many new ones waiting to be made.
Jennifer: You're right. I'm gonna do it.
Maxine: Great. Um, we're just about ready for you.
Jennifer: Oh, great. Thanks, Maxine.
Daniel: All right, good luck.
Maggie: Okay, kids, you ready to sit quietly and listen to a very special story?
Theo: The Christmas story?
Jennifer: Yes, Theo, yes. The Christmas story. Um... kids, I know that this is the last place that you want to be on Christmas, but Santa found you here, right? And I want you to know that you are in the greatest hospital, and do you know that you have some of the best doctors anywhere? You really do. And I was just here a little while ago, and I was so blessed, 'cause I got to go home. And that is my prayer for all of you, that you all are gonna get to go home very soon. But I want you to know that, while you are here, you get to be a part of this incredible tradition, because I used to sit just like you right there when I was a little girl, and I would listen to my grandpa, and he would read this story every year for all of us. Are you ready? Okay. "And it came to pass long ago that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus..."
Kristen: Okay. So where are you going? Off to see your kids?
EJ: Yes, I am.
Kristen: Good. Yes?
EJ: There's something else that I wanted to give you.
Kristen: Really? Really? You already got me a present.
EJ: This is not so much a present. It's more of a hand-me-down.
Kristen: Oh. Oh. The holy family?
EJ: Yes. Alexandra gave this to me. She hoped it would help me find better angels or vice versa.
Kristen: So did it?
EJ: That's debatable. Let's just say that, every time I tried to leave the family, there was something that drew me back. I'd like you to have this, because I know how much it means to you.
Kristen: Thank you. I'll cherish it.
EJ: I hope you do. I cherished Alexandra. And I'm very grateful to have another sister in my life.
Kristen: You could hug me now. Okay.
Eric: Are you coming by the Hortons later?
Brady: I'm gonna try. Yeah.
Eric: And what about you?
Sami: Um, Lucas is gonna take Allie, but I'll just hang out with the kids.
Brady: That sounds like a good day.
Brady: Merry Christmas.
Sami: Merry Christmas.
Brady: I'll see you later.
Eric: Have a good day. See you.
Brady: Merry Christmas.
Sydney: Did Santa brought me this present or Rafe?
Sami: Well, if you ask me, I think it was a little bit of both.
Jennifer: "And it was there that Mary gave birth to her firstborn son. And she wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, for there was no room for them at the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over..."
Julie: I know every word by heart, but it still gets to me.
Doug: More and more every year. Boy, this brings back a lot of memories, doesn't it?
Maggie: It sure does.
Jennifer: "'Who is Christ the lord.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, 'glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and goodwill toward men.'"
Doug: Silent night
All: Holy night all is calm all is bright round yon virgin mother and child holy infant so tender and mild
Maggie: Oh, beautifully done, Jennifer.
Jennifer: Thank you, Maggie.
Maggie: Ohh. Now you're not gonna go anywhere, 'cause, if you do, you'll miss the surprise.
Joey: Another surprise?
Maggie: Yes. You see, a certain someone's sleigh made a kind of a bit of a detour before heading back to the north pole.
Victor: Ho ho ho.
Victor: Ho ho ho. Merry Christmas.
Maggie: Santa, so cute.
Victor: And for you.
Both: Merry Christmas.
Julie: Jennifer, it was so beautiful.
Jennifer: Thank you.
Doug: You made my wife cry.
Julie: Oh, happy tears. And speaking of happy, darling, we better get to the house and get the party started.
Jennifer: Yes, I will be right behind you.
Julie: Good, good.
All: See you there.
Abigail: You did great, mom.
Jennifer: Thanks, baby.
Abigail: I love you so much.
Jennifer: I love you too, sweetie. Mwah.
Abigail: Dad would be really proud of you.
Daniel: You know, I only met your grandmother a few times, but she seemed like a very, oh, I'd say spirited woman.
Jennifer: That's a good word.
Daniel: Yeah? And also a woman of great faith. And the people we love, you know, sometimes they never go away.
Maggie: Well, we're all heading back to the Horton homestead for some more cheer. I hope Jennifer was able to convince you to come along this time.
Daniel: You know, I wouldn't miss it, no way.
Sami: Sweetheart, you're gonna get one too some day when you're older, okay?
EJ: Oh! Hey.
Lucas: Hello, it's just us.
Julie: Oh, merry Christmas, Lucas, darling.
Lucas: Merry Christmas.
Julie: And Kate and Billie.
Billie: Thanks again for having us.
Julie: Of course. The more, the merrier.
Billie: All righty, then.
Doug: Um, make yourselves at home.
Julie: Please do. Please do.
Julie: Oh, would you please get--
Kate: You want me to get--
Julie: Thank you, darling. Thank you.
Kate: Hello, Horton residence. Bill. It's Kate. Merry Christmas to you too. [Chuckles]
Julie: How's Chelsea doing?
Billie: Oh, she's great. Thanks for asking.
Julie: Good, good, good, good.
Billie: Thanks again for having us.
Julie: Of course. You know, my grandmother had this house open to everybody, total strangers. I want you to always feel welcome in this home.
Billie: Thanks. Is there anything I can do to help?
Julie: Do to help? How are you with knives? Paring knives, paring knives.
Billie: Good, I think.
Julie: Okay, walk this way.
Kate: No, he's right here. He's right here.
Lucas: Hey, dad. No, you didn't. Did you? That's awesome.
Kate: Merry Christmas, sweetie.
Will: Oh, oh, no, I'm gonna give you another one.
Kate: Oh, merry Christmas.
Sonny: Merry Christmas.
Both: Merry Christmas.
Lucas: How you doing? What's going on, Sonny? Glad you decided to join us. Hope we didn't scare you away yesterday.
Sonny: No, I'm glad to be here. Yeah, I thought my family had a party, but you guys are on another level.
Lucas: Are we? Nice. Well, I'm glad you made it.
Allie: Look, it's Santa.
Maggie: It's Santa's helper, honey.
Jennifer: Thank you.
Daniel: I'm supposed to get the door for you. Jeez.
Jennifer: Okay, whoo.
Jennifer: Oh, hi.
Lucas: You just missed dad's call. He wanted to wish you a merry Christmas.
Jennifer: Oh, great. Thank you. I'll get back to him in a little bit. Thank you.
Lucas: Good, 'cause he was worried about you.
Jennifer: Well, it's been a-- it's been a hard Christmas. It's been a really good one too.
Lucas: [Silently] Okay.
EJ: My goodness, I bet it took Santa a long time to put that together.
Sami: Yeah, Santa and uncle Eric.
EJ: [Chuckles] And, Sydney, this is a lovely penguin that you have. I wonder where Santa found that.
Sami: It's a long story.
EJ: I'm sure it is. Well, you guys seem to be having a lovely holiday.
Sami: They are. What about you? Did Santa bring you everything you want this Christmas?
EJ: Not yet.
Sami: That seems impossible. What is it that EJ DiMera doesn't have?
EJ: Well, I was actually hoping that... that I might be able to have a little bit of clarity this Christmas.
Sami: About what?
EJ: Well, this thing between the two of us. I was just wondering where you see that going.
Eric: Thank you for getting me through my first Christmas eve mass. Nobody fainted. Especially me. Thank you... for bringing me home. For giving me the chance to do better. Just help me do better... as a priest... as an uncle, as a brother, a son. Most of all...please let my family find peace this year.
Sami: I'm not sure exactly what you mean.
EJ: You're not?
EJ: Samantha, we roll up our sleeves, we take work home, we talk--the kids, about life, love. We laugh. Am I just imagining it? Or do you feel something too?
Johnny: Look, dad, no hands.
Sami: Johnny, oh, God, don't.
EJ: He--he's fine. Keep going.
Johnny: I wish it could be Christmas every day!
EJ: Me too.
Chad: Hey, what are you--what are you doing here?
Abigail: Me? What are you doing here? It's absolutely empty.
Chad: I was just... what are you doing?
Abigail: You are coming with me. Nobody should be alone on Christmas, Chad. Come on.
Chad: All right, all right, all right, all right.
[Knock at door]
Kristen: Brady, you came.
Brady: Of course I came.
Kristen: So look what Santa put under my pillow. You shouldn't have.
Brady: What do you know? Of course I should have. You look beautiful.
Brady: You want me to stop? Hmm?
Julie: Darling, you're not eating any--Gabi, are you having morning sickness? If you're having morning sickness, I'll make you some ginger tea right this minute.
Gabi: No, I'm fine, thank you.
Nick: Well, if you're fine, then you have to at least have one of these doughnuts.
Julie: Oh, yes. Please have a doughnut. And, if this baby is anything like the baby's father, the baby will be able to eat 16 of these at a single sitting.
Nick: Oh, really?
Julie: Oh, really? I remember.
Gabi: Okay, okay.
Nick: I have no recollection of that at all.
Sonny: Everything okay?
Will: Everything is great.
Sonny: All right.
Will: Come over here. Let's go see my dad.
Jennifer: Maxine, I am so glad that you came.
Maxine: Me too. I'm even more glad to see dr. Dan's here.
Jennifer: Yes, he is. Why don't you let me get you a cup of coffee down here? Everyone, this is Maxine.
Abigail: Hi, Maxine.
Victor: I'll never get used to seeing my name on this tree.
Daniel: Yeah, I know what you mean.
Victor: You suppose that Maggie had some reason for putting this ball right here?
Daniel: You know, I really can't imagine, so...
Jennifer: Let's see what Santa's talking about over there. Santa, I want to show you something over here.
Abigail: Merry Christmas, everyone.
Woman: Merry Christmas.
Chad: Merry Christmas.
Nick: Merry Christmas.
Abigail: Merry Christmas.
Nick: Why would you bring him here?
Abigail: Because he's my friend, Nick. Look, whatever your problem is with him, I don't want to hear it. It's Christmas, and we are all gonna get along, even if it kills us, okay?
Abigail: Good. Merry Christmas.
Nick: Okay. Merry Christmas.
Lucas: [Clears throat] Hey, Sonny, I actually have something for you.
Lucas: It's--it's really nothing, no big deal at all.
Will: What is it?
Sonny: It's a donation to pflag in my name. It's the parents, family, and friends of the lesbian and gay.
Will: Lesbian and gay. Really?
Sonny: Dude, this is--this is amazing.
Sonny: Thank you so much.
Lucas: Oh, no problem. No problem.
Will: Wow, dad, did he--like, do you go to the--
Lucas: What, to the meetings? Yeah, I go to the meetings. Why? Can't you tell? Come on.
Will: Wow. I am very proud of you.
Lucas: Nah, I'm the one who's proud.
Doug: Hey there. You okay?
Maggie: Oh. Actually I'd like for you to do me a favor.
Doug: You got it. [Whistles]
Julie: [Chuckling] Doug. I thought we were finished with the singing and the speeches.
Doug: Well, sweetheart, this time it's not me. Maggie has something she would like to say. Whatever it takes,
Brady: Merry Christmas.
Kristen: Merry Christmas.
EJ: Look, I'm not really one for making new year's resolutions, but, if I do make one, I stick to it. And this year...
Sami: This year?
EJ: This year I would like for us to be a family.
Maggie: Thank you, Doug. I was just thinking about tom and Alice and how proud they must be of their family right now, knowing that we're all here in their home, stockings where they always hung them, the tree with their ornaments, singing the songs they loved, following their traditions. I was not a Horton by blood... not even by name anymore. But, you know, that didn't matter to tom and Alice. Family was family, whether you were born into it or not. Every year, when this group gathers here, it gets a little larger, as it should. Not that we always got along.
Julie: Nobody can accuse us of being dispassionate in this family, that's for sure.
Maggie: True. The important thing is that we can put our differences aside and find a common ground and know we're all loved. We are and always will be family. And those near and far who can't be with us today, we wish you a very merry Christmas.
Jennifer: So beautiful.
