Episode #11982 ~ Rafe Apologizes to Gabi; EJ impresses Sami With His Generous Gesture

Provided By Suzanne

Daniel: Um, you know, you really should be resting, and whatever it is that you have to say, it--it can--you know, it can w--it can wait.

Jennifer: No, Daniel, listen to me. This can't wait. I-it can't wait a minute longer. Please.

[Door closes]

Rafe: Hey. Is Nick around?

Gabi: No, but I can text him so he can come downstairs and you can hassle him some more about when I got pregnant.

Rafe: Well, I can talk to him later. I actually came to talk to you.

Gabi: To yell?

Rafe: No, to... say that I'm sorry.

Sami: Hey, EJ, are you h-- when did you get so popular?

EJ: Hmm. No, they're not for me, actually. They're for the children.

Sami: What?

EJ: All of these are from people who want something from me, and they think that if they give these gifts to the children, I will notice.

Sami: Well, the sitter's about to drop the kids off. They're gonna come up here and think they fell into Santa's workshop. Should I go get my camera?

EJ: Uh, no, Samantha. I don't think I'm gonna allow the children to have these. This is not what Christmas is about, and I certainly don't want them thinking that it is what Christmas is about.

Marlena: [Exhales sharply]

[Footsteps approaching]

Hope: Marlena. Marlena, what's wrong? You all right?

Marlena: Y-yes. I guess I was just lost in my own thoughts.

Hope: Uh-uh. Something's going on. What is it? What's wrong?

Marlena: It isn't what. It's whom.

Kristen: If we can't be friends, at least we don't have to be enemies, right?

John: Right, right.

Kristen: We can keep our distance, but, um, have a peaceful coexistence. It's time to take this... to another level.

Hope: Not what, whom?

Marlena: Mm-hmm.

Hope: Kristen? [Scoffs] What has she done now?

Marlena: You... need to promise me this stays right here, right between us.

Hope: Absolutely. Of course.

Marlena: She's having an affair.

Hope: [Scoffs] Of course she is. Poor guy--he has no idea what he's in for. Who's the unlucky guy?

Marlena: Brady.

Hope: Brady?

Marlena: Don't ask me if I'm sure. I'm sure. I walked in on them.

Hope: On them?

Marlena: Mm-hmm.

Hope: I-in bed?

Marlena: Mm-hmm.

Hope: Oh, for the love of-- what's he thinking? No, no, no, obviously he wasn't thinking, at least-- John must've flipped out.

Marlena: John doesn't know.

Hope: Oh, you haven't told him yet?

Marlena: Well, "yet" being the operative word. I've had chances to tell him, but I've chosen not to.

Hope: Why?

Marlena: [Sighs]

Brady: [Grunts softly] Hey.

Kristen: [Sobbing] No. Please don't hurt us.

Brady: What's--

Kristen: Don't--please don't hurt us.

Brady: Kristen.

Kristen: [Sobbing]

Brady: What-- hey. What--what is wrong?

Kristen: No! Don't do it!

Brady: Oh, my God, what is wrong? Hey! Shh, shh! Shh. What's wrong? You having a nightmare? It's all right.

Kristen: [Sobbing]

Brady: It's all right.

Brady: Hey, hey, hey.

Kristen: [Gasping] Yeah, it was a nightmare, I guess.

Brady: Hey, hey, you--you-- Kristen, you woke up. You were saying, "don't hurt us," and-- wait. Who's us? Do you--what do you remember?

Kristen: It just went away.

Brady: You don't remember anything about it?

Kristen: Mm-mm. I don't remember anything.

Brady: Kristen. I think you do. I think you're not telling me.

Kristen: Oh, look. Listen, I don't remember anything. What do I have to say to make you stop?

Brady: List--hey, I'm not gonna--I'm not gonna force you to talk about it, but...

Kristen: It was a bad dream.

Brady: Got it.

Kristen: Brady... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to jump down your throat. I don't even know why I'm not saying anything. I had a nightmare about John and Marlena... what could happen if they found out about us.

Brady: [Sighs]

Sami: Well, I agree with you. These are definitely too many presents, but I don't think Johnny is going to agree with you. So how do we convince the kids that they can't have presents with their names on them?

EJ: Samantha, these gifts did not just arrive this morning, okay? They've been piling up since thanksgiving. So I already started talking to the children about them.

Sami: You were talking to the kids about it without me?

EJ: Yes, on occasion, I have been known to parent without consulting you.

Sami: [Sighs]

EJ: Just as you do. And besides which, look, all of these gifts are for Johnny or Sydney. None of them are for Allie. You don't think she'd feel very excluded?

Sami: Of course she would. I didn't even think of that.

EJ: Okay.

Sami: [Sighs]

EJ: The point is, my dear, they have enough presents without needing to accept them from complete strangers. They have more than enough.

[Door opens]

Woman: Johnny, Sydney, wait!

EJ: Up, up, up--hey!

Sami: Whoa, whoa, crazy!

EJ: Ah, ah, ah. Do you remember what we talked about?

Sydney: Yeah.

Johnny: Yeah. What's gonna happen to all the presents?

Sydney: Yeah.

EJ: Well, I did a little bit of research, as it turns out, and they are accepting toy donations for needy children down at the Horton town square.

Sami: Wow. That sounds nice, doesn't it?

EJ: So I was thinking that maybe you could help me, and we could all go down there together. How does that sound?

Johnny: All of us? Mommy too?

Sydney: Yeah!

EJ: Well, that's up to your mother.

Sami: [Sighs]

EJ: Perfect. Okay?

Johnny: Can we touch them?

EJ: [Inhales sharply] Mm, I'm not sure about that. Actually, you know what? I have a better idea. Why don't we see if we can guess what is inside each one? How about that?

Johnny: Ooh. Oh, I like that.

EJ: Grab one.

Johnny: Ooh, this one's so cool.

Rafe: So I spoke to Sami before. She pointed out some things to me.

Gabi: Like that you crossed the line?

Rafe: Yes. And I'm sorry about that. But this whole thing, it's-- it's kind of hard for me to accept, you know?

Gabi: Okay.

Rafe: Yeah. I mean, finding out that you're pregnant and helping you plan this rushed wedding, and it didn't make it any easier to accept to find out that you and Nick were, uh, together so soon.

Gabi: Okay, stop, Rafe. This is--this conversation's making me very uncomfortable.

Rafe: Okay, well, if it makes you feel better, um... [Clears throat] This is harder for me. Okay? I mean, I feel worse. I know that you went through a lot--I mean, that you and Nick were first together... well, around the time that the whole thing with Andrew exploded. And Chad was threatening you, and so I believe that you made some decisions that you otherwise wouldn't have made had things been a little more normal. So I'm sorry. I really am.

Gabi: Thanks.

Rafe: Okay.

Gabi: I'm glad that you did this.

Rafe: And I want you to know... I'm not disappointed in you. Yeah, I wish things had worked out a little bit differently, but, um... listen. Listen to me, okay? I just really want to know that you're sure. You're sure, right? About everything.

Gabi: Yes, I am sure. I love Nick. I'm sure.

Rafe: Okay.

Gabi: And I-I know that you don't think so and that you're worried about him more than you would be about anybody else, but you have to understand that he's different. He's kind and gentle and loving, and he wants to be with me and raise our baby together.

Rafe: Okay. Sold.

Daniel: What is it that I need to hear?

Jennifer: Um, uh... I'm so glad I caught you. [Laughs]

Daniel: Yeah, well, we've established that.

Jennifer: I know, because I thought that you had left, and--

Daniel: No, I'm here.

Jennifer: Right.

Daniel: Right.

Jennifer: So, um...

Daniel: So, um...?

Jennifer: You know, this probably isn't the right time, and--and I really--I should've waited. I should've called you at home to just meet me somewhere.

Daniel: No, Jen, you need to say it.

Jennifer: Uh, what is that in your--in your pocket?

Daniel: [Chuckles] It's, uh, kind of weird. Uh, Kate, of all people, she gave me this, um... this Christmas card.

Jennifer: Uh, Kate?

Daniel: Yeah, it's--

Jennifer: Wow. Oh.

Daniel: It's, uh--

Jennifer: Is that parker?

Daniel: Yeah.

Jennifer: Oh, my goodness.

Daniel: He's, uh--he's huge, isn't he?

Jennifer: Yeah, he's so cute. Uh, w-why did she even do this? Is she trying to torture you?

Daniel: [Chuckles] Well, you know, believe it or not, I actually think she's trying to be nice to me. And, well, as for parker, um... you know, I'm handling this completely different now... much thanks to you.

Jennifer: Me? How so?

Daniel: You know, you taught me how important it is to-- to let go.

Daniel: You know, back when this all went down, when I found out I wasn't parker's father and Philip was, you know, aside from not being able to look Chloe in the eye, I-I couldn't even stand to look at this--this beautiful little boy, either. And I-- I loved him very, very much.

Jennifer: I know. I remember.

Daniel: You--you also-- you, uh--you told me something Alice told you. Do you remember that?

Jennifer: Yeah.

Daniel: You said it was possible to love someone completely and still know when it's time to step back and, uh, just let go.

Jennifer: Daniel--

Daniel: You know what? I know we all really--you know, we all want to believe that love is timeless and endless, but... you know, in a lot of cases... a lot of cases, it's just not. So I want to thank you for helping me realize that.

Jennifer: Wait. Do you mean--

Daniel: You know what?

Jennifer: I mean, because I--

Daniel: I think you were right in that this isn't the time or the place, really, to talk. So we should--we should, uh-- we should--we should wait. And, um, you really need to get some rest.

Jennifer: No, Daniel--

Daniel: So you just take care of yourself, okay?

Jennifer: God, what is wrong with me? Daniel, wait!

Woman: Oh, my.

Sami: [Laughs]

EJ: We would like to make a donation.

Woman: Look at all this! How generous of you.

Sami: There's actually more in the car.

Woman: Oh, you're going to make a lot of children very happy.

Man: Thank you. Thank you too.

Johnny: Daddy, this feels great.

EJ: It does, doesn't it?

Sami: Go ahead. Go ahead. Give yours. Wow. You were right, EJ. This really is what Christmas is all about.

Kristen: I know it was just a dream, but I had it for a reason.

Brady: [Sighs]

Kristen: This thing that we're doing, Brady, it's-- it's risky. I mean, it really is risky.

Brady: It's not. It's--no. It's not risky.

Kristen: Yes, it is.

Brady: It's out there. But it's not risky. You just need to breathe. Just breathe.

Kristen: [Breathes deeply] Okay, but then if it's not risky, why are we acting like, you know, it's an illicit affair between two married people sneaking around? You're using the back stairs to come see me. You hide in the bathroom...

Brady: Yeah.

Kristen: When housekeeping knocks, just in case.

Brady: I thought that we agreed that that's what--

Kristen: I know we agreed. But listen, when John and Marlena find out about this, they are not gonna think of it as a Christmas miracle. There's not gonna be hearts and flowers.

Brady: Okay, you know what? Baby, you're worked up. Your subconscious just now--it's working on you, all right? Nothing--nothing's changed since you had your dream.

Kristen: It was a nightmare.

Brady: All right, nightmare, dream--it doesn't matter. It wasn't real.

Kristen: [Sighs] You know, I guess I've just tried so hard to keep all these feelings bottled up, and it's just not working.

Brady: Kristen, take it easy.

Kristen: No.

Brady: You're okay.

Kristen: John, especially with Marlena inciting him, is gonna think that the only reason that I'm with you is to create a wedge between you and your father.

Brady: Nope, not true. Not true at all.

Kristen: I know it's not true, and you know it's not true, but John's not gonna know it's not true. And they're gonna be on this so hard and so much, and on you... to buy into it.

Brady: Well, that can't happen, because that's not how I feel.

Kristen: You have no idea what they could do to us.

Brady: Oh? Well, luckily we're never gonna have to find that out.

Kristen: How do you figure?

Brady: Because I'm not going to let Marlena or my father know about us.

Hope: So you saw Brady and Kristen together, but they have no idea you did?

Marlena: Brady doesn't know.

Hope: Kristen does? Oh. She must be loving this. But I don't understand. Why haven't you told John? You tell John everything.

Marlena: Every time I tell John something about Kristen-- every time--it comes back to haunt me. Every time.

Hope: In other words, something else has happened with her before--I mean, since she's returned to Salem.

Marlena: That whole debacle at smith island. And I call it a debacle. I became paranoid. And I did something that I would never, ever normally do.

Hope: What?

Marlena: John's cell phone rang, and I looked at it, and there was a message from Kristen. And I deleted it. And it turns out, the message was letting John know that Brady was in the hospital.

Hope: And that's why you don't want to tell John about this.

Marlena: Well, you can either tell John, or you can continue the affair and keep it a secret.

Kristen: It kind of sounds like that's what you want.

Marlena: Actually, I don't give a damn.

Kristen: Well, of course you do... because as long as I continue my affair with Brady, that will keep me from sleeping with John.

Marlena: Isn't that a good enough reason? You know, when we found out that your divorce from John was finalized and we were all prepared to get married again, life was perfect. And then Kristen came to town, and everything...

Hope: It's a mess. Okay, let me just... so Kristen knows that you saw them, but Kristen hasn't told Brady?

Marlena: That's right.

Hope: I can really understand why this is a hard call. But you know what? I-I just... I don't think staying quiet is going to get you the right result, either.

Marlena: I don't know how to handle this, not by myself.

Hope: I'll help. I'll do whatever I can, whatever you need.

Marlena: Oh, that's-- there's nothing anyb-- maybe there's something.

Hope: Marlena, I mean it. If there's something I can do to help--

Marlena: No, I-I just have to figure it out. I've got to figure it out.

Hope: What are you thinking?

Marlena: I'm thinking if I could just figure out if Brady is committed to Kristen... I mean, are these true feelings, or is it just about the sex?

Kristen: What do you mean you're going to make sure that John and Marlena don't find out about us? You mean, like, never?

Brady: [Chuckles] No, I just think we can keep it under wraps until the right moment comes along where we can tell them.

Kristen: And when would that be--2065?

Brady: All right, listen, I know this is new to us, okay? But we don't even know what to call us yet, do we? I mean, do we really know what's going on here between us?

Kristen: True.

Brady: And, obviously, we're having a good time, aren't we?

Kristen: Yes.

Brady: Yeah. Well, then only time is going to tell what this turns into, right?

Kristen: And what if it turns into something?

Brady: Then it turns into something. And if it's significant enough to both of us, then my dad and Marlena--they're just going to have to accept it.

Kristen: Just like that?

Brady: Just like that. If it's obvious that it means so much to us, yeah.

Kristen: Well, see, the problem is, I don't think they really care if anything means anything to me.

Brady: Kristen.

Kristen: Well, they don't.

Brady: All right, well, here's--here's what I know. They care about me very much, and by extension, they're going to have to care about what matters to you... which, hopefully, is me. Look at me. We're both going through this, right? We're both feeling this. We're both unsure. Let's do it together. Okay?

Kristen: Okay.

Brady: Mm.

Kristen: Mm.

Brady: I got to go.

Kristen: Oh, okay.

Brady: Yeah, I do have to go, but I would love to come back later.

Kristen: Oh. Okay.

Brady: Yeah?

Kristen: Yeah, and thank you so much for talking me down the tower.

Brady: You are so welcome. Anytime.

Kristen: Okay, 'cause that subconscious, you know--it'll get you every time.

Brady: Yeah, you should worry more about what happens when you're awake.

Kristen: Yeah. You make a lot of sense.

Brady: I try.

Kristen: Oh. Bye.

Brady: See you.

Kristen: What?

Brady: I was just thinking, 2013... it's going to be a good year.

[Door closes]

Kristen: Yeah. I couldn't have put it better myself.

Marlena: You have a definite meeting with Brady.

Hope: About the police Christmas benefit, yeah.

Marlena: And it's just the two of you?

Hope: Yeah.

Marlena: What about making that a threesome?

Hope: What?

Marlena: I'm sure that came out wrong.

Hope: Yes, it did. Uh, explain, please.

Marlena: [Laughing] There was a detective you worked with a long time ago that Brady had kind of a crush on.

Hope: Yeah, I think it was, uh--it was Sara Coughlin.

Marlena: That's the one.

Hope: Mm-hmm.

Marlena: Is she still single?

Hope: I don't know.

Marlena: But if she were-- this is kind of the crazy part.

Hope: Crazier?

Marlena: Listen, if it turns out that Brady's feelings for Kristen are nothing more than physical attraction, then John doesn't have to know about it.

Hope: I am so afraid right now. What exactly do you want me to do?

Marlena: [Laughing] Okay. Listen up.

Daniel: [Shivers]

Jennifer: [Breathlessly] Oh, my goodness. You are really, really fast.

Daniel: Jennifer, what are you doing here?

Jennifer: Okay, I just had a hard time keeping up with you.

Daniel: Why are you trying to?

Jennifer: But I just want to tell you, no matter what I think and no matter what you said, we are most definitely not finished.

Hope: Holy moly. This is incredibly generous.

Brady: Oh, stop. Happy to do it.

Hope: And to make the donation a matching one, I just--I-I really feel we are going to raise a lot of money for the P.D. Thank you so much.

Brady: You are welcome. Hey, 'tis the season, right? I know some people get sick of celebrating Christmas right after Halloween, but I love it. I love it.

Hope: I've never heard that one before, but okay.

Brady: Maybe it's a new thing.

Hope: Maybe.

Brady: You want me to start singing Christmas carols right now, I will. I'd probably clear the joint if I did, though.

Hope: I don't think so. I've heard you sing before. You're very good.

Brady: Oh, thank you very much--appreciate it.

Hope: Oh, Sara. I asked her to bring a file to me. Thank you so much for getting this file to me.

Sara: Not a problem, detective Brady.

Hope: Oh, where are my manners? I'm so sorry. Sara, this is--

Sara: Brady black. We've met.

Brady: We have met. Hi. How you doing?

Sara: Good. Merry Christmas.

Brady: Merry Christmas to you as well.

Hope: Brady is underwriting, and he's also doing a matching grant donation for the police benefit.

Sara: Nice.

Brady: I'm very happy to help.

Sara: Well, take care, and have a nice holiday.

Brady: You--you as well. Merry Christmas to you. Why are you looking at me in that very funny way?

Hope: I just had the most amazing idea. You game?

Sami: So we packed everyone up in the car, got all the presents loaded, and, uh, brought it down here before the kids realized what was happening and threw a temper tantrum. [Both laugh] But, um, truthfully, they're handling it great, actually. Johnny really seems to have gotten the message that EJ--

Rafe: That EJ himself is trying to convey.

Sami: Right. Well, he is their father.

Rafe: I think I remember that.

Sami: And it is the right thing to do, you know. It's a really great message for the kids.

Rafe: Yeah. But this was EJ's idea?

Sami: Totally.

Johnny: Rafe!

Rafe: What's up, guys? Hi.

Johnny: We gave presents away.

Rafe: I know, I heard. You know what? I am so proud of you guys. So proud. Merry Christmas.

EJ: This is going to take a-a while, I'm afraid. Usually, they only accept unwrapped gifts, so they can determine the, you know, age appropriateness and the gender of each one, but as it is, they're going to have to unwrap them and take a look and wrap them up again.

Sami: Oh. Okay, wow.

Rafe: Well, this... this is A... very generous gesture.

EJ: Well, it seemed like the right thing to do.

Rafe: It is. It is, yes. Yes, this is, uh... it's great. It's great.

Jennifer: Uh, could you just show me that picture again of parker?

Daniel: W--that's why you came after me like that?

Jennifer: Just--just humor me, please.

Daniel: Okay.

Jennifer: What--what I said about letting go, what my grandma told me about letting go--I said that to you because you were hurting so much over Chloe, and you had just found out that you were not parker's dad. And--and I meant what I said.

Daniel: Yeah, I know, and I heard you. That's why I-I brought it up again.

Jennifer: I know, but I think I know why you brought it up again today.

Daniel: You do?

Jennifer: I do. Listen, it wasn't just about parker. It wasn't just about letting him go because you will always love him but you couldn't really have him. It was about me too.

Daniel: You?

Jennifer: Me.

Daniel: Well?

Jennifer: Well... that's why there's, um, something just really important that I need to say to you.

Daniel: But you can't?

Jennifer: Not--not--not so far, I can't.

Daniel: Okay, you know what? You were--you're right, you know. We--we should wait--just wait.

Jennifer: No, I didn't mean to wait. No, I didn't mean it. I meant that I have to say that now, because it's only going to make things worse if I don't--

Daniel: For who?

Jennifer: For us, it's going to make things worse if I don't.

Brady: So you have an idea. What, about the benefit?

Hope: No.

Brady: Then what?

Hope: You know, I totally forgot that you and Sara knew each other already.

Brady: Yeah?

Hope: Well, you asked me once if she was single, remember?

Brady: Vaguely.

Hope: Well, I can find out if she is.

Brady: Hope... what are you talk-- what do you mean, for me?

Hope: No, for Justin Timberlake, of course. No, of course. Yes, for you. You know what? I wonder if she has a date for the gala. I could find out.

Brady: Hope, hope, listen, listen, I appreciate the matchmaking gesture, okay? But it's not necessary.

Hope: Is being set up such a terrible way to meet someone?

Brady: No, but I'm okay, really.

Hope: I know you're okay. But let me do this for you.

Brady: Hope, I don't want-- I'm not interested in dating now. Thank you.

Rafe: Hey, I'll see you two soon. And congrats on all the gift giving, all right? Remember what it's called?

Johnny: Good karma.

Rafe: That's right. So... this was great. Take care.

EJ: Listen, I hope things are shaping up well for your sister and Nick.

Rafe: Thank you. I-I think they are.

EJ: Good. Well, I should probably go get this taken care of. Excuse me.

Sami: Yeah, and I, um-- I have to go get the rest of the presents out of the car.

Rafe: I can help.

Sami: I thought you had to get out of here.

Rafe: Well, I can help you for a few minutes.

Sami: Thanks. Um, I appreciate it, but I'm fine. Thank you. Merry Christmas.

Rafe: Merry Christmas.

EJ: Oh, hello, Kristen. How are you?

Kristen: Eej, how are you?

EJ: Hey.

Kristen: Aw. This is so festive. Getting in the spirit?

EJ: Yes, I am, actually. How are you? Staying out of trouble?

Kristen: Well, define "trouble."

Jennifer: Um, sometimes-- sometimes you just trip up, you know?

Daniel: Trip up.

Jennifer: Well, with your words--they don't really come out the way you want them to come out. Like, you're thinking something, and then it doesn't come out the same way. Do you know what I mean?

Daniel: Not--not really.

Jennifer: But then sometimes you expect maybe someone else to say something, and you're looking, like, for a signal or some kind of sign, and that doesn't happen. But, I mean, that doesn't mean that it's not supposed to happen, 'cause your mind can be so crazy sometimes. It can tell you different things, and at times, things can seem really clear and in focus, like, laser focus, and then the next thing you know, everything just self-destructs, and then you don't even know what happened, and you're like, "crud--am I too late? Did I just miss it?" But I don't--I don't want it to be too late. And it's not too late, right?

Daniel: Could you repeat that?

Jennifer: Daniel, listen, I know what you were waiting for me to say that day in my hospital room.

Daniel: In your hospital room.

Jennifer: When you saved my life... again.

Daniel: And what was I waiting for you to say?

Jennifer: What I didn't remember then. But I remember it now, and I'm not fuzzy, and my brain is not tossed all around. I said that I love you.

Daniel: Wow.

Jennifer: Yeah, wow.

Daniel: So you remember.

Jennifer: I said I loved you. And you said you loved me too.

Daniel: But when I--when I brought you back to the hospital and you started to become more alert... you know, do you remember what you said then? You said you were sick and that you may have said some things--

Jennifer: Right, but then you said that you wouldn't hold anything against me that I said when I was under.

Daniel: Right.

Jennifer: Right, but here's the thing. I kind of wish you would.

Daniel: You do?

Jennifer: Yeah, I do... like, starting right now and basically for good.

Daniel: Right now. You're sure?

Jennifer: I'm so sure. And I'm not even sedated. I am 1,000% clear... and here. And I... I love you.

[Door opens]

Gabi: Why are you here?

Rafe: Why am I here? Well, I knew you had your pre-cana thing. I was walking by, so I stopped by to see how it went.

Gabi: Oh. Well, Nick is in the other room filling out his questionnaire.

Rafe: You're already done?

Gabi: Yeah, I was done, like, ten minutes ago.

Rafe: [Scoffs] Overachiever.

Gabi: [Laughs]

Rafe: You feel good about it?

Gabi: I do, yeah. Oh, uh, Maggie wants us all to come over Christmas eve and bring tamales.

Rafe: Sounds great.

Gabi: She wants you to come too, hermano.

Rafe: Okay, even better.

Gabi: Okay.

Rafe: I'll be there.

Gabi: Oh, are you sure you don't have anything with the kids and Sami? You're good, right?

Rafe: I have-- no, I just-- no, the only plans that I have are to make sure that you have a great Christmas. Those are my plans.

Hope: I got the message.

Brady: All right, hope, listen, hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you. It's just that I'm not interested right now in--in being set up. But I thank you for thinking of me, and I hope the gala is awesome and incredible. And I will see you soon, okay?

Hope: Yes.

Brady: Yes.

Hope: Thank you for the donation.

Brady: Merry Christmas.

Hope: Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas.

[Door closes]

Hope: How much of that did you hear?

Marlena: All of it.

Hope: Mm.

Marlena: He couldn't have shut you down faster if he'd had a switch.

Hope: Yeah. Well, um, I'm not sure the results of our little test were scientific, but, uh... well, I'd lay odds that Brady's not dating anyone because he is sleeping with Kristen.

Marlena: That's bad. It's worse than I thought.

Hope: I know you don't want to tell John that his son is involved with his ex, but honestly... I really feel that you're playing with fire here. He could find out anyway. And then what will you say to John?

EJ: You can be coy with other people, but don't be coy with me.

Kristen: Huh. I've already said too much. It's gloat-Y. I have to stop.

EJ: Ah, it's gloat-y, is it? I see. Well, I tell you everything, so you owe me, as your brother, the whole gloat-y story.

Kristen: Okay, you win.

EJ: I usually do.

Kristen: I'm getting close to someone.

EJ: Who?

Kristen: You're not going to like it.
