Rafe: Help her? Help her by what, Will? By bringing her here?

Will: Hey, listen to me. It wasn't like that, okay? When Gabi told me she was pregnant...

Rafe: She what?

Will: She also told me--

Rafe: Told you what? Not to say anything to Nick? Not to say anything to me? Not to tell anyone, "I want an abortion"?

Will: No, that's not what it is! She said that the baby--

Gabi: [Crying]

Kristen: Yeah, I'm just clearing out the last of my things from Countess W. and as of today, EJ is all set to take over.

Stefano: Well, I can't thank you enough for making sure that, uh, Elvis got back into the fold.

Kristen: Well, I think it was reminding him of how closely he'll be working with his beloved Samantha that actually sealed the deal.

Stefano: No doubt. But you know something? I'm really--I'm absolutely amazed that you've accomplished so much in so short a time.

Kristen: [Laughs] You have no idea. I'm just getting started.

Both: Hi.

Brady: Hello.

Marlena: Good to see you.

Brady: Come on in.

Marlena: Thank you. How are you feeling, my darling?

Brady: I feel better. I'm a little sore back there. But, uh, I'm glad you're here, because I was gonna call you.

Marlena: Oh. Why?

Brady: Well, I wanted to talk, and, uh, let me apologize in advance, because I know it's a sore subject with you, but--

Marlena: Oh, don't apologize. You want to talk about Kristen, and--and so do I.

[Door opens]

Chad: Hey. Got your message. Why are there two vendors withholding payment?

Sonny: Oh, that was just a, uh, clerical error. But I got everything cleared up.

Chad: Okay.

Sonny: But there is something I'd like to talk to you about.

Chad: Yeah, what's up?

Sonny: It's about Gabi.

Nick: What? Oh, my God. Gabi, what did you do?

Gabi: [Crying] Rafe, I--

Rafe: No, it's okay. It's okay.

Gabi: [Sobs]

Rafe: All right, no, no, no. Don't cry. It's okay, sis. I'm here. I'm right here. I'm here for you.

Stefano: Ahh. Signora, per piacere, si--

Kate: Sorry. But you're going to have to clean that mess up yourself, Stefano.

Stefano: Katherine. Hmm. I don't recall inviting you to join me.

Kate: Well, I'm not going anywhere, mio sposo. Not until we discuss our marriage.

Kristen: Oh, hi, John.

John: Hi.

Kristen: You see this?

John: Lipstick.

Kristen: [Snickers] It's a prototype.

John: Hmm.

Kristen: It doesn't have a name yet 'cause it's still in the early stages. I've been working on making it smudge-proof and waterproof and smear-proof. [Sighs] But you know what I should've done? I should've made it bullet-proof. That would've come in handy with all the looks that could kill I've been getting lately. Anyway, since I'm stepping aside, this is going to be EJ and Sami's baby. They're going to be the ones who see it through the development phase. Anyway. Are you here to see Sami?

John: No. No, I'm not. Came to see you.

Rafe: Come over here. Come on. Sit down. It's okay. It's okay. No, no, no. Don't cry. It's okay.

Gabi: [Sniffles] I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Rafe: No, no, no, no. Listen, I'm the one who's sorry. I'm sorry I-- I hate that you feel like you couldn't have come to me. I'm here for you. I will help you. I will support you no matter what.

Gabi: I couldn't. I--

Rafe: I know, and that's why I'm saying it's my fault.

Gabi: No. No.

Rafe: Gabi, listen to me.

Gabi: [Sniffles]

Rafe: I want you to know that I love you. And I will support you no matter what, okay?

Gabi: No, you don't understand, Rafe. I couldn't do it. I didn't have the abortion. [Sobs]

Rafe: Okay.

Marlena: Brady, if I'd known why she was calling, to let your dad know that you'd been mugged and were in the hospital, I never would've deleted-- never mind. Never mind. What I did was invade your father's privacy, and that was wrong and stupid and thoughtless of me.

Brady: Mm. Don't be so hard on yourself. It's understandable.

Marlena: Yeah. I just seem to lose control around Kristen. I can't seem to distinguish between right and wrong.

Brady: [Sighs] Once again, I think it's understandable.

Marlena: You know, all those things she did to us so many years ago, you'd think I'd be a little calmer about it by now. You'd think that I would've become a little more rational.

Brady: Marlena, you are a rational, sensitive woman. And you were terrorized by Kristen, who was, at the time, extremely irrational. So I don't think there's any reason why you should expect to be calm about any of this.

Marlena: Her calls were relentless. I-I thought that she was just trying to get your father alone again.

Brady: [Sighs]

Marlena: I'm so sorry you were left in the hospital by yourself.

Brady: Well--well, I-I mean, I wasn't by myself. Kristen was there.

Marlena: Oh, of course. That's right. She must've been waiting for John to show up so she could play the heroine. I'm still sorry you were hurt by all this.

Brady: It's okay. I survived. I'm fine.

Marlena: And thank God it wasn't more serious.

Brady: Um... why do you think Kristen's back in town? What do you think it is that she wants?

Marlena: It's what she's always wanted. Your father. My husband.

Kristen: Are you here to defend Marlena's paranoid accusations? Because I can't take anymore.

John: I'm not, because what Marlena did was wrong. She had no right to erase any of those messages.

Kristen: Well, thank you very much for saying so. I appreciate that. I've got lots of things to do.

John: Uh, hey, hey, hey. You got a second? Um...[Sighs] So what you did for my son, I don't take that lightly. When he was hurt, you helped him. I'm very grateful. And, listen, I don't think we're gonna have a-a whole lot of talks like this, given the way my wife feels about you, so I would appreciate it if you would just hear me out for a second.

Kristen: Okay. What do you want to talk about?

John: Well, I know that I've told you this before, but I do think it bears repeating. More and more, I believe your efforts to--to make amends, to try to turn your life around and become a better person, they are sincere... and that you have changed. And I--not just because you say you have, but because your actions have--have proved to me that you have. You are the Kristen that I once knew.

Chad: What about Gabi? [Sighs]

Sonny: You need to lay off her, Chad. No, I'm serious. Last time you got into it with her, she got physically sick.

Chad: Please. That's just more of her drama.

Sonny: So you weren't yelling at her at the pub the other night, trying to provoke Nick Fallon?

Chad: Look, she was perfectly fine when I left her, Sonny. And like I said, this is just more of her drama, and unlike you, I'm not buying into it.

Sonny: She's not faking it. Whatever you said to her really upset her.

Chad: I upset her? Okay, whoa, whoa, whoa. First of all, you don't have the slightest clue about this girl, okay? And how did you know I said anything to her anyway? Nick asked you to talk to me about Gabi, didn't he?

Rafe: Okay. Hey, all right. We're gonna figure this out. You're not alone. You're not. You hear me? Okay?

Sami: Gabi, I, um... I want you to know I'm sorry. I hope you understand that I really felt I had to tell your brother.

Gabi: I do. I understand.

Sami: And he's right. You're not alone. You have all of us. And you have Nick. He loves you so much. He's gonna be there for you.

Gabi: Wait, hold on. Nick-- Nick knows? You told n-- you must be so disappointed in me, Rafe.

Rafe: No. N-no. I am not disappointed in you. Okay? You're my kid sister. I'm here for you. I'm here to help you. All right?

Will: Hey. I tried to get in to see you. I wanted to stop it. I wanted to just get in there and see you and stop it. They wouldn't let me. I'm sorry.

Sami: Oh, Will. Will, you have to understand that that's not your place. It was Gabi's decision to make, and--and you were just there for her. You are her good and loyal friend.

Will: No. No, I'm not, actually. I'm not a loyal friend. I-- you know, I need to tell you guys something. I've been--I've been trying to say it.

Nick: Gabi?

Rafe: It's okay.

Gabi: [Sobbing]

Stefano: How did you find me?

Kate: Determination. Chutzpah.

Stefano: Wasted.

Kate: Really? We're together, aren't we?

Stefano: And we have absolutely nothing to say to each other. What is that?

Kate: Those are the divorce papers that you didn't have the guts to serve to me yourself, but rather had your snake of a daughter deliver them to me. Speaking of whom, how did she manage to get back into your good graces? I thought you swore you would never forgive her betrayal.

Stefano: Mm. And you think you can do the same thing, huh? Kristen is family.

Kate: As am I. I am your wife.

Stefano: You stopped being my wife when you decided, or let's say you resumed being a whore, and you took another man into your bed with you, a man who tried to kill me.

Kate: I thought you left me.

Stefano: How many times did I have to tell you that I would never leave you?

Kate: I regret my actions. Clearly I was in pain. But I never stopped loving you.

Stefano: Irrelevant.

Kate: Are you saying that you will never forgive me?

Stefano: No. I will not.

Brady: I'm just wondering...

Marlena: What?

Brady: If maybe... we've been wrong about Kristen.

Marlena: Oh, no.

Brady: Marlena, listen--

Marlena: Not you too, please.

Brady: You--you and I-- you and I have always been on the same page where she's concerned.

Marlena: But now we're not? Brady?

Brady: I-I'm not--I just-- I'm just not convinced that she's still the threat that you think she is.

Marlena: Oh, my gosh, I can't believe what I'm hearing.

Brady: Marlena, listen. I-I know that--I know that she was a nightmare, to put it mildly, back in the day, okay? And I understand your weariness and your anger. It's all understandable, like I said.

Marlena: You've done a complete reversal here.

Brady: Mm.

Marlena: Somehow she's persuaded you that she has changed, and she--she needs to be brought back into the family.

Brady: No, no, no. I think--I think we need to remain vigilant. I just don't think we need to be chasing shadows. We need to focus on what's good in our lives.

Marlena: If you'd been at the hospital, you would not be saying that.

Brady: Did something happen at the hospital between you two?

Marlena: I was upset with her in front of your father, and then she left the room and behaved like a victim. And I refused to apologize.

Brady: I'm sure that made my father very happy, right?

Marlena: Well, no, actually, it didn't. Made Kristen very happy, though. She came back into the room when I was alone, came right up to my face and said... [Whispers] "Thank you."

Brady: Uh, I don't get it.

Marlena: Well, it wasn't what she said. It was the way she said it. As if I'd played right into her hands and--and she was only too happy to let me know about it.

Brady: You sure about that?

Marlena: Do you think I'm making this up?

Brady: Uh, no, but... maybe you saw what you wanted to see.

Marlena: Oh, do not analyze me about this.

Brady: I'm not analyzing you. I'm just asking you, is it possible that your anger about Kristen in the past is--is clouding your judgment about who she is today?

Kristen: [Sighs] I don't know what to say.

John: Don't have to say anything.

Kristen: Oh, yes, I do. I do. Look, I'm aware that slowly you've been kind of coming around to believing in me again. But what you just said now about me being the Kristen that you once knew... it really touches me. It means that you understand that I have overcome my past. And your forgiveness... means everything to me, John. It inspires me--it really does-- to keep fighting the fight. And I'm just gonna keep trying and trying to be the best person I can be. Thank you.

Nick: Everything's gonna be okay.

Gabi: I want to believe that. I do.

Rafe: All right, well, right now, we just all need to sit down and talk about where to go next.

Gabi: Do we have to do that right now?

Sami: No, Gabi, I-I don't think you do. I think Gabi should rest, guys.

Nick: Uh, would you guys mind if I--if I took Gabi home?

Rafe: No, no. Just, uh, whatever decisions you guys make, don't do anything without talking to me first, okay? I want to be part of it.

Gabi: I want that too. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before.

Rafe: It's okay. Hey, I love you.

Gabi: I'm just glad that you know now, okay?

Rafe: [Laughs] Yeah. Me too.

Gabi: [Sniffles] Okay.

Rafe: I love you.

Gabi: Love you too. [Exhales]

Will: Gabi...

Gabi: Uh-huh?

Will: Come on.

Gabi: Can we talk about what happened another time? Not now. Please?

Will: Okay. Well, I'll call you later.

Gabi: Okay.

Sami: [Sighs]

Will: Well, okay. See ya.

Rafe: No, no, hold on a second, Will. No, I can see you want to talk. So do I.

Sami: Yeah, but you know what? I don't think you should be blaming Will for any of this, okay? He just was Gabi's friend in all this. He was just trying to help.

Rafe: Right. But he was responsible for Nick not knowing that he was the father of this baby. And as the father, I think that Nick had the right to know.

Marlena: How can everybody be so blind where Kristen's concerned? You, John, Sami--it's like everybody has amnesia, like they've forgotten everything she did, and that's exactly what she's hoping for.

Brady: It's not about forgetting; it's just about giving someone the benef--

Marlena: Oh, my gosh. The benefit of the doubt? [Laughs] Oh. Look, I know that's a noble thing to do. And I know you're all intending to do that, uh, and I'm not, which I guess makes me a lesser person.

Brady: Marlena, come--stop. For God's sakes, come on. You know that's not what anybody believes or feels.

Marlena: Kristen is a major manipulator. And you and John better realize that before it's too late.

Brady: Okay. Listen to me. I would wage a war against Kristen to protect this family. I just don't think it's necessary anymore, and I'm gonna tell you why: Because you've already won the war. You've won. You won years ago. My dad, he loves you more than anyone or anything in the world. There's nothing that Kristen can do to ever change that.

Marlena: Thank you for that perspective.

Brady: I-I-I think you're too close still to what happened in the past, and the trauma of it is still very acute, and you're convinced it might happen again.

Marlena: Please don't tell me how I feel about this.

Brady: Marlena, I'm on your side. My dad's on your side. But Kristen's back in town. Don't you think it'd be better for all of us if we let go of some of the anger and some of the bitterness, just a little bit?

Marlena: Look, could I just ask you for one favor?

Brady: Of course, you can.

Marlena: If you choose to forgive her, that is your prerogative. And your father's. But don't let down your guard. Protect yourself. Protect your father, please.

Brady: I will never let my guard down.

[Cell phone rings]

Brady: That's my reminder to take my antibiotics to make sure this doesn't get infected, but...

Marlena: Oh.

Brady: I'm gonna head to work. Are we good?

Marlena: Oh, honey, we're good.

Brady: Good. I'll see you.

Marlena: Mm-hmm.

Rafe: Okay, okay, listen. I know it sounds totally hypocritical, me telling you that a father has a right to know who his child is. Okay? I get it.

Sami: Yeah, and by the way, it wasn't Will's decision to make. Gabi needed to decide whether or not to tell Nick.

Rafe: I know. I understand that. I know you did not want to betray my sister's confidence. All I am saying is that you could've tried a little harder to get her to come to me.

Will: Okay. I'm sorry.

Rafe: Okay.

Will: Can I go now?

Rafe: Yeah. I--

Sami: Look, are-- are you okay?

Rafe: Yeah, I'm okay. I just-- just want to be there for my sister and help her get through this, you know?

Sami: You are. And you will be. Gabi's really lucky to have you.

Sonny: Well, if you think about it, whatever's going on with Gabi is kind of my business.

Chad: Yeah? And how do you figure that?

Sonny: Because she's friends with Will.

Chad: Well, did Will tell you why she was so upset?

Sonny: No, he didn't. That's why I wanted to ask you. Look, you and Gabi used to be tight.

Chad: So?

Sonny: So you don't just turn on a friend like that for no reason.

Chad: If you only knew what this girl was really like, man-- [Scoffs] Look, you and I are friends too, right? Business partners, you would say, right? Right? Okay. So I'm gonna need you to drop this, okay? And just so we're clear here, I'm not gonna let Gabi Hernandez ruin anything else in my life.

[Door slams]

[Key clicks in lock]

Nick: [Sighs]

Gabi: I wish you would say something. I mean, look, I know that you have a really good reason to be upset with me--

Nick: More than one reason. What you did-- what you were about to do... is wrong on so many levels.

Gabi: I didn't do it, Nick, okay? I couldn't do it. You don't understand, Nick. You don't understand how it was like to sit on that table, to wait for the doctor to tell me that she was ready. I wanted to scream, okay? I wanted to scream, but I couldn't because my mouth was dry, and I couldn't even talk. Okay? So I got up, I got dressed, and I walked out. I tried to convince myself that it was the best thing, and I-I totally realized that I was being horribly selfish.

Nick: [Sniffs] Well, I'm glad, uh, you didn't do it. But...

Gabi: What?

Nick: You said you loved me.

Gabi: I do. I do. I love you, Nick. All right? I love you more than I thought that I could ever love somebody.

Nick: Then why? Why did you lie to me about this baby?

Stefano: Well, as long as you're gonna sit there trying to come up with some silly forgiveness of some kind, and you're in the way of my seeing the piazza, so the least you could do is pick up the used dishes here and get rid of them.

Kate: I defended you... to friends... to family... to anyone and everyone... who warned me that you were nothing but a heartless monster. What a fool I was. You enjoy your cannoli.

Stefano: [Sighs]

[Cell phone rings]

Kristen: "Meet me at the rectory--Brady"? Really?

[Footsteps approach]

Kristen: Brady.

Brady: Hey.

Kristen: Hi. Uh, I was just on my way to the rectory.

Brady: You were? Why? We-- we don't have a meeting today, do we?

Kristen: No. Where are you going?

Brady: I was gonna get some coffee and then go to the office, but, uh, actually, now that you're here, I'd like to talk to you for a minute, if you have a second.

Kristen: I don't, actually. I'm sorry. Um, I-I have to go someplace. Sorry.

[Knock at door]

Maid: Ms. DiMera, housekeeping.

Rafe: This whole thing's heartbreaking.

Sami: Gabi's tough. And she has you. And Nick.

Rafe: [Mutters] Nick.

Sami: Rafe, come on. You heard him with her. He was so concerned about her, and you had to see how much he loves her, that he's gonna protect her.

Rafe: Oh, is he gonna protect her? Well, thank you for telling me. I'm glad you did. Had you not, I wouldn't have been able to have been there for her today.

Sami: I thought she needed you. Whether she realized it or not.

Rafe: Yeah.

Sami: But I do need to ask you to do me a favor.

Rafe: What's that?

Sami: Go easy on Will for me. I asked him to be there for Gabi and to help her in any way that he could.

Rafe: You don't think he took your advice a bit too far?

Sami: No. He was being a friend to her, the best friend he knew how to be. And it wasn't his place to stop her. Luckily she made that decision all on her own.

Rafe: Yeah, thank God she did. Ah, see, here I am. I'm blaming everyone for not telling me, but I should've been paying closer attention to what's going on in my sister's life.

Sami: Rafe, I hate to break this to you, but there are things in Gabi's life that she's not gonna want to share with you. You can't keep beating yourself up about it. That's certainly not gonna help her either.

Rafe: [Chuckles] How did you get so wise?

Sami: Always have been. When did you stop noticing?

Sonny: Hey.

Will: Hi.

Sonny: Well, I'm glad you're here. I managed to get to an ATM, and I got the rest of that money that you needed.

Will: Oh, I don't need it. I don't need it. Thanks.

Sonny: Oh, you don't?

Will: Mm-mm.

Sonny: Okay. You all right?

Will: Yeah. Sorry. Things are just-- I don't know. I don't even know what things are right now.

Sonny: Does this have anything to do with Gabi? 'Cause something happened earlier, and, uh, I'm hoping I didn't make things worse.

Gabi: I didn't lie to you, Nick, okay? I didn't lie to anyone.

Nick: A lie of omission is still a lie, Gabi.

Gabi: I'm sorry, all right? I'm sorry that you found out from Will's mom. I'm sorry. I am.

Nick: I was there. Wasn't I? I was there when the doctor told you that day at the hospital. I mean, this is why you fainted, isn't it?

Gabi: Yes. Okay? Yes. God, what do you-- what do you want me to say? Okay, I messed up. I was scared. I don't know what to do.

Nick: Scared of what?

Gabi: Of losing you.

Nick: Why do you think you'd lose me if you told me about this baby?

Gabi: You don't understand. It's complicated.

Nick: Complicated how? Tell me.

Gabi: Nick... you're not the father.

Nick: You're damn right I'm not.

Rafe: I know my sister's going through hell right now. But spending these past few hours with you has felt like--

Sami: Like old times.

Rafe: Yeah.

Sami: Well, I, um, I'm sorry that I didn't tell you about Gabi sooner. I probably should've.

Rafe: No, no, no. You were trying to keep a promise, trying to honor that. And if anyone understands about trying to keep a secret out of loyalty--

Sami: Yeah.

Rafe: Yeah. But at least this one didn't drive us apart. It made us closer.

[Cell phone rings]

Sami: I'm sorry.

Rafe: Yeah.

Sami: I've been out of the office for a while, and, um, we're working on this new lipstick. It's this cool new product, but there's still a ton of work left to be done, so--

Rafe: Right, right, right. The new lipstick.

Sami: [Laughs] Right.

Rafe: Look, uh, thank you. Thank you for, uh... not just telling me about Gabi, but for being by my side today.

Sami: Gabi's gonna be fine. She has you on her side. Like I said, she's-- she's lucky.

Rafe: Yeah?

Sonny: I don't know what's going on between Chad and Gabi, and honestly, I don't even want to know. I don't. But when I asked him to back off--

Will: He didn't like it, I'm guessing.

Sonny: That's an understatement. He kinda went, like, ballistic, actually. Said that he didn't want to let Gabi ruin anything else in his life, and then he just took off.

Will: You don't think he went looking for her, do you?

Sonny: I don't know. Maybe. Why?

Will: That's the last thing she needs. I gotta go.

Gabi: Y-you know that this baby isn't yours?

Nick: I'm not stupid, Gabi. I can do the math. I know it's too soon for the baby to be mine.

Gabi: Why didn't you say anything before?

Nick: Because I didn't want to embarrass you in front of everyone. But how long do you think it's gonna be before everyone realizes that you played me?

Gabi: What?

Nick: Hmm?

Gabi: P-play--played you? What--I didn't plan this, Nick.

Nick: I don't believe you.

Gabi: I was gonna tell you.

Nick: When?

Gabi: I was gonna tell you about the baby, about it not being yours--

Nick: When? After the baby was gone? [Sighs] [Sniffs] I'm beginning to see a pattern of behavior here, Gabi.

Gabi: What pattern are you talking about, Nick?

Nick: You couldn't tell me the truth about the baby, and you couldn't tell me the truth about what happened with you and Melanie and Chad.

Brady: Dad.

John: Hey, Kid. Kid, how you feeling?

Brady: I'm--I'm okay. I'm okay.

John: Good, good.

Brady: How you doing? You all right?

John: Yeah, sure. Why wouldn't I be?

Brady: Uh, listen, I was gonna get a cup of coffee. Do you wanna--wanna join me?

John: Uh, you know, I gotta take a rain check on that because there's someplace I gotta be.

Brady: Okay. Sure is a lot of that going on today.

Marlena: Hi, there. I'm so sorry to bother you, but I've just accidentally spilled my whole latte down the hall. I, um, thought I'd better mention it.

I'll take care of it now.

Marlena: Oh, great.

Thank you for telling me.

Marlena: Thank you--sorry to put you so much trouble.

Nick: You used me, Gabi.

Gabi: Nick, no. Why are you saying that? I would never--I would never do that to you. I love you.

Nick: Do you even know what it means to love someone? Now I know why Chad was so upset with you for busting up him and Melanie.

Gabi: Stop saying that. Why do you keep bringing that up?

Nick: Because! You suckered me in with your little sob story about how you were misunderstood, like I was. About how you did things that hurt people that you didn't mean to, like I did. And how you didn't mean for that Andrew freak to kidnap Melanie.

Gabi: I didn't!

Nick: Only you left out one tiny little detail. You wanted Chad. And you got him. Didn't you? That's why Melanie left. Not because he beat me up, but because he knocked you up.

Gabi: Nick, what are you saying? You don't understand that this--

Nick: I'm not an idiot, Gabi! There's only one person in the world who could be the father of your baby.

[Pounding at door]

Chad: Gabi, I know you're in there. Open up.

Nick: Good timing.

Gabi: No. Stop. Don't open the door, please, Nick!

Brady: What is this? I didn't send this text to Kristen. Oh, no.

Marlena: Looks like some sort of tablet. "JB". Password. [Scoffs] Really? How obvious you are.

[Door slams]

Kristen: Marlena.
