Jennifer: What are you doing here?
Nicole: Don't be afraid.
Jennifer: Whether you decide to go through with this or not, it doesn't matter. I just want you to know that there are people who care about you. You have Victor and you have Maggie. We're not going anywhere.
[Knock on door]
Daniel: Maggie, hey.
Maggie: Bad time?
Daniel: No, no, no, I was just looking at some--some stuff. Come on in, come on in. What's, uh, what's going on?
Maggie: Well, I could beat around the bush and ask you if you've heard from Melanie or how is your day going. But we both know why I'm here, so just tell me. What happened with Jennifer?
Hope: What she needs, Eric, is to be watched.
Eric: Hope, I--I really think--
Hope: You think what? What? That she's suddenly reformed? Really?
Eric: How can you be so sure?
Hope: Gut instinct. I have a terrible feeling about all of this. Especially the conflict between Nicole and Jen. I'm telling you, this is far from over.
Eric: And I understand your reasons for feeling that way.
Hope: And I know this isn't what you wanna hear. Eric, you've had a very complicated history with Nicole.
Eric: This has nothing to do with that. Hope, I would not have a job if I believed that people couldn't change; learn from their mistakes. Including Nicole.
Jennifer: You can't be serious. You come into my house out of the blue. You--you let yourself in. Did you lock this? You're standing here telling me not to be afraid. Give me a reason why not, Nicole.
Nicole: I don't have one. I only have an apology.
Rafe: Oh, no.
Rafe: No, no, no, no, no.
Sami: Rafe, it doesn't mean anything, I mean, you don't know if--
Rafe: If what? If what, if that's where she went? Well, we can't find her. She was looking at this. Look, we gotta stop her.
Will: Are you sure?
Gabi: That I'm pregnant? Yeah. That you're the father? Yes.
Nurse: Are you all right?
Will: No, actually. No, I'm not.
Dr. Hill: Hi, Gabi. I'm Dr. Hill. I'm here to perform your procedure. I can tell you're very nervous. But we're gonna take good care of you, okay? Just try to relax.
Gabi: It's just that I've never...I've never been in a situation like this before.
Dr. Hill: That's true of most of the patients I see. But they get through it, and so will you. It's a simple procedure. Do you have any questions before we begin?
Nurse: Is there something I can do for you?
Will: Yes, there is actually. Um, my friend is back there and she's in one of those rooms, and I don't know which one.
Nurse: She can't have visitors right now. You can see her after the procedure.
Will: No, no, no, I need to stop the procedure. That's why I need to go now, because it's a mistake. I-I just realized that. So can you tell me which room it is, because I promise you, it's a terrible mistake.
Gabi: How long does it take?
Dr. Hill: Not long. Maybe 15, 20 minutes.
Sami: Rafe, you need to calm down.
Rafe: No, I will once we've find my sister and I know what she's doing.
Sami: I don't think she went to this clinic.
Rafe: How can you say that? Her computer's open to the page.
Sami: Well, I know that, but look at it. The address is in Chicago. She didn't drive all the way to Chicago. You know how long that would take?
Rafe: It doesn't matter. Doesn't matter, we just need to find her.
Sami: We will. But maybe she was just looking at the website, you know? Looking for information.
Rafe: Yeah, she was on how to get rid of her baby.
Sami: Rafe, I was a lot younger than Gabi is now when I was pregnant with Will. I didn't have anyone to turn to. She must have a million questions. And she has this to answer those questions before she makes her decision.
Rafe: Okay. Okay, I get it. You don't me to overreact. You want me to calm down. But what if she's looked at that and she's already found the answers that she wants. What if she's already made her decision?
Jennifer: So let me get this straight. Your idea of an apology is to sneak into my house and warn me to not be afraid?
Nicole: I know how this looks.
Jennifer: Do you?
Nicole: Yes. Probably like every other time I've gone behind your back to set you up.
Jennifer: Yes, exactly, Nicole.
Nicole: But it's not--it's not...that's not it. Not this time. I swear it.
Jennifer: Really, it's not? Because you may not remember, but I do. You swore to me that you would never apologize, Nicole.
Nicole: I j--I just couldn't do it then.
Jennifer: Why? What was stopping you?
Nicole: You don't--you don't think I see how you're looking at me right now? All that pity and anger and the fear in your eyes. I let myself in because I knew if I rang the doorbell, by the time you answered it, I would have chickened out and run off. And I locked the door this time. I came in here and I locked the door because I didn't think that I had the willpower to actually do this. Jennifer, I realize that neither one of us can move on until I face up to all my lies and accusations. I accused you of murder. I accused you of killing my child. And that was so wrong, it was unconscionable. But I need you to know it--it just happened. It wasn't planned. It just happened because it was easier to hate you than to feel helpless. God knows I've done some horrendous things in my life, but even in the lowest, lowest times, I never thought that I was capable of something like that. I should be in jail right now. But you--you've reached out with nothing but kindness and generosity.
Jennifer: No, no, I-I--I'm not being generous, Nicole. I'm doing this for my sake too. For all of our sakes. There has been so much pain. Especially for you. For Daniel. We--we all just need to move on, really. Okay?
Nicole: Just don't short change yourself, okay? Because you're a better person. You've been the better person through all of this. And just--thank you. And I'm sorry for all of it. And I know this seems inadequate. I just--I'm just so very sorry.
Jennifer: It's okay. And you know what, I believe that you're sincere. There's just one thing that I don't get. Why did you decide to do this right now?
Hope: And this is your cousin, Ciara.
Eric: No way. You know in my photos you were, like, about this tall.
Hope: What do you say to Eric? Oh, I mean Father Eric.
Ciara: It's nice to meet you.
Eric: Well, it's very nice to meet you too.
Ciara: Mommy, are priests allowed to be handsome?
Hope: Oh, yes, they are, obviously.
Eric: [Laughs] Well, thank you very much for your compliment, Ciara. So, your mommy tells me that you're about to take your first communion soon. Well, we'll get to know each other much better, because I'm actually gonna be leading the first communion class.
Brady: You're teaching her? Oh, Lord, she's in trouble.
Brady: Come here, man.
Dr. Hill: Okay, Gabi. In a moment, I'm gonna ask you to lie back. Get comfortable.
Nurse: Yes? All right, we'll be right there. Dr. Hill, they need you in exam three.
Dr. Hill: I'm sorry, Gabi. I won't be long.
Sami: You're right. I don't know what Gabi is thinking right now. But I know she's not gonna rush into a decision like this all on her own.
Rafe: What if she's scared? Or what if she thinks she is all on her own?
Sami: She's not... Rafe, and she knows she's not alone.
Rafe: How do I not see this, huh? How do I not know about this guy and what the hell's going on?
Sami: Well, I don't know, I mean, I g-- hey, maybe she's using the website as a referral. Look, there's a number here. We could call it and find out where they would recommend in the area.
Rafe: Give me the number, I'll call.
Sami: Rafe, don't you think I should call?
Rafe: Just hope it's not too late.
Sami: We're gonna find her. We are.
Nurse: Are you saying your friend is making a mistake?
Will: I'm not judging her. I just wanna make sure--I just wanna go in there and make sure that she's okay.
Nurse: Why, is there something wrong?
Will: No. No. It's just that she's--she's in there by herself, and she's gotta be scared. So I just wanna make sure that she's okay. I wanna make sure--I wanna go in there, and I wanna make sure she's okay with this.
Nurse: Are you trying to say that your friend was coerced into coming here?
Nurse: Was this her decision to come here?
Will: Yes, it was. It was her decision. Nobody forced her. But I just want one minute. Please, one minute. Can you just--please?
Nurse: I'm sorry, you can't go back there.
Will: Why? Why not?
Nurse: It's policy. Look, your friend is free to stop the procedure at any time, but that's her decision to make. You can see her when she's done.
Brady: So I gotta ask you. Is this whole priest thing for real, I mean, with the collar and that you're actually ordained? I mean, are you serious about this?
Eric: No, I'm just putting you all on. Actually, I got this collar at a Halloween store.
Eric: Yeah. You remember that? Come on, Ciara.
Ciara: You did.
Ciara: He did!
Brady: Really? Really? Okay. Well, if you validated it, you're very trustworthy and lovely, so I'll believe you. I'm gonna ask your mom though. How many years can you get for impersonating a priest though?
Hope: Oh, my gosh. I'm gonna have to check on that one.
Eric: So, um, is this bandage a part of your costume, Mr. Black?
Brady: Uh, no, no, that is not a costume. I actually got attacked by some crazy person.
Hope: You're okay?
Brady: I'm fine, I'm fine. I wasn't the intended target. Kristen DiMera was. I just got in the middle of it.
Ciara: Mommy, are we gonna eat soon?
Hope: Yes. A girl after my own heart. Absolutely, and we're gonna let you two catch up. I wanna hear the rest of that story.
Brady: I'm sure. There's a report on your desk probably.
Hope: Perfect. And you, please think about what I said.
Ciara: Bye, Father Eric-- I mean, Cousin Eric in a costume.
Eric: Bye, Ciara. I hope to see you soon.
Brady: Bye, ladies. Have a lovely lunch.
Hope: Thank you. Have fun catching up. Good seeing you. Welcome back.
Eric: So...what are you doing with Kristen DiMera?
Brady: You heard she was back in town, right?
Eric: Yeah, she's a part of the parish board.
Brady: Ha... that's ironic, isn't it?
Eric: Yeah, well, I was talking to John and my mother yesterday, and I sensed there was something they weren't telling me. You know. Figured it kinda had something to do with Kristen.
Brady: Well, her coming back to town has been...complicated.
Eric: How so?
Brady: How so? Well, for starters, prior to this accident of mine, I was disagreeing heavily with her. We were fighting. Uh, I figured she was plotting, yet again, against Marlena and my dad.
Eric: Mm. And?
Brady: And long story short, she was the one who brought me to the hospital after I was hit. After I stepped in and helped her.
Eric: Your point?
Brady: She could have left me there.
Eric: So you believe she's changed.
Eric: Well, if she's demonstrated that she's a caring person and hasn't caused any trouble, shows genuine remorse for those that she may have hurt in the past, then she should be given the benefit of the doubt.
Brady: Why do I think you're talking about somebody else?
Eric: Actually, I am. Another person that nobody believes can change.
Brady: Nobody bel--let me take a guess at this. Nicole?
Eric: Hope believes that she's a lost cause.
Brady: I don't agree with Hope. She's not a lost cause. She's had a rough life, she's made some terrible decisions and...she also has a very good heart.
Eric: So you don't share Hope's skepticism. You believe that Nicole is capable of being a better person?
Brady: Yeah. I hope so. I mean, she hasn't been able to pull it off so far, but Nicole, she's her own worst enemy, Eric.
Nicole: Does it matter how I got here? I mean, I showed up, I apologized. Shouldn't that be enough?
Jennifer: Yes. And it is, Nicole. I know what a struggle it was for you to come here and do this. And I want to accept your apology graciously and without reservations.
Nicole: Thank you. You won't--you have no idea how much that means to me. Um... I'm gonna go. Pretty sure I've wasted enough of your time.
Jennifer: Nicole, what are you gonna do now? I wasn't the only one hurt by all this.
Nicole: You know, I started thinking...about what I needed to do to come between you and Daniel after Jack died. I came here to offer my condolences. Do you remember that?
Nicole: I told you I was sorry. But I didn't mean it. I mean, not--not then. I-I was trying to manipulate you. But now I-I know what loss does to you and--and that you can never really get past it. So Jennifer, I'm--I'm so sorry about Jack. And I now feel so sad for everything that you've gone through. And that is the truth.
Daniel: Well, it just turns out that Jennifer wanted to see me, because she read about this clinical trial for a new drug to treat the tremors in my hands.
Maggie: So then it had nothing to do with what you were concerned about.
Daniel: What? My impulsively declaring that I still love her? No that--that, um, didn't really come up, no.
Maggie: Well, you said the last thing you wanted to do was put Jennifer on the spot about her feelings for you.
Daniel: Well, the way things are right now, I don't really have to worry about that.
Maggie: I see, okay. Um, may I ask, since you brought it up, um, this, um, this clinical trial. Um, is it something you should be looking into?
Daniel: Well, according to Jennifer, yeah. She did all that research, and she wanted me to get involved immediately.
Maggie: Are you going to?
Daniel: I-I-I don't know. I--
Daniel: I'm conflicted. It's a drug trial. It's a trial, there are no guarantees. And yeah, sure, I mean, they have a very high success rate, apparently. But as I told Jennifer, it may not work, and there's a chance that it could even get worse and then I'm...you know.
Maggie: Your hopes are crushed. Well, from what you're saying, Jennifer seems very involved, very vested in your doing this.
Daniel: Yeah, well she made me promise that I would continue to think about it.
Maggie: She made you promise?
Daniel: Yeah, that's what I was doing. I was just thinking.
Maggie: I see. Well, I'll be anxious to hear your decision. Uh, I'm gonna let you get back to work.
Daniel: What's the, uh, what's the rush?
Maggie: Oh, you know I have--I have to be going. I have errands to run and such, you know.
Daniel: Oh, yeah. Yeah, okay. Well, I'll--I'll see you soon.
Maggie: Yes, of course. I'll call you later. Take care, Darling.
Daniel: Okay, you, uh, you too.
Sami: Yeah, I got it. Thank you. Okay.
Rafe: What did they say?
Sami: Well, they said there are two clinics around here that they recommend. One on Oak Street and the other's on Cloverfield.
Rafe: Okay the one on Oak Street, that's closer. Give me the phone.
Sami: No, don't you think I should be making the calls?
Rafe: Can I just do something here? Number.
Will: See, the thing that you need to understand, and frankly that you don't understand, is that Gabi didn't know that she had to be alone...okay? The only reason she came here is because she thought that I would be able to be with her in there.
Nurse: Look, I know this isn't easy, but your friend knows you're here. I mean, she knows you're waiting for her. So the best thing for you to do right now is take a seat.
Nurse: Hartfield Family Planning.
Rafe: Yeah, I'm looking for a young woman. Her name is Gabrielle Hernandez. I think she might be a patient there.
Nurse: I'm sorry, we're not allowed to give out that kind of information.
Rafe: I just need to know if I have the right clinic.
Rafe: Is she alone? Can you tell me if someone's there with her?
Dr. Hill: We're ready to get started here, so make sure I'm not interrupted until she's done, okay?
Hope: Hey, sweetheart. Here you go, honey. Is something wrong?
Ciara: Mommy, are prayers just for when you go to bed?
Hope: No, honey, you can pray whenever you want.
Hope: Mm-hmm. God's always listening. Is that what you were doing? Were you praying? Yeah? For what?
Ciara: For Grandma and Daddy to come home soon.
Hope: I know you're counting the days. It's gonna be very soon, I promise. Just like Daddy promised also.
Ciara: I'm gonna say another prayer now.
Hope: For what?
Ciara: I just want everyone to be as happy as I am.
Rafe: Ma'am, I asked you a question. Is someone there with my sister?
Nurse: And I can't answer that, sir. We have an obligation to protect the privacy of our patients.
Rafe: So you're saying she is there?
Nurse: I'm not saying that at all.
Rafe: Okay. Well, you know what? Thanks. For nothing!
Sami: Okay, so maybe I should call the other clinic.
Rafe: You can call from the car. The one on Oak Street, that's our best bet.
Sami: All right, all right, hey, oh, the address, you need it?
Rafe: No, I don't. I know where it is.
Sami: All right, let's go.
Nick: What's going on? Hey, will you talk to me? Have you heard from Gabi?
Rafe: No, and I'm not wasting any more time around here.
Nick: Wait, where are you going?
Sami: He just needs some air. You know, he's worried about his sister.
Nick: Well, yeah, so am I.
Sami: I know you are, so you stay here in case Gabi comes back.
Nick: Okay, well... wait, do you want me to call you if she does?
Dr. Hill: Okay, I'm gonna ask you to lie back, Gabi.
Gabi: Are we ready now?
Dr. Hill: No more interruptions, I promise. Now just try to relax, okay?
Eric: I can't really get into what Nicole and I talked about.
Brady: Oh, yeah? Why not?
Eric: Because she confided in me, Brady.
Brady: As a--as a priest?
Eric: As someone she trusts.
Brady: I understand.
Eric: You know she's dealing with very overwhelming guilt, remorse.
Brady: Well, yeah, she should be dealing with overwhelming guilt and remorse, 'cause she went too far this time. She lied about how her baby died. She blamed it on Jennifer, for God's sake.
Eric: Well, in dealing with such guilt, she's in so much pain that she lost sense of what was right and wrong. And to ease that pain... she did what she thought she had to do. And not that that's any excuse.
Brady: You know what, it's not an excuse. It just a reason.
Eric: She has dug herself into a ditch, and she has got to be the one who has to pick herself up out of that. Maybe she can. With a little help.
Brady: Oh, man.
Brady: Don't tell me you're still hung up on her. Don't you tell me that.
Eric: No, no, no, I am not hung up on her. You know, last time I talked to my bishop, I am allowed to help women. Including the ones that I've been involved with.
Brady: Even if things didn't end up the way that you wanted them to?
Eric: Even then.
Jennifer: Oh, hi. I didn't see your name on the schedule today. Are you volunteering?
Maggie: Um, actually no, I'm not. I was hoping I'd run into you. Do you have a moment to talk?
Jennifer: Yeah, I was just on my way to the cafeteria. Do you wanna join me?
Maggie: Uh, I would prefer to talk in private.
Jennifer: Are you okay? Is everything all right?
Maggie: I'm fine. It's not about me. It's about Daniel.
Nick: If I had met you before, my whole life would be different. [Sighs] Where are you, Gabi?
Nurse: Answer is still no. I'm sorry.
Will: Please, can you at least tell me how she's doing? Can you go in there? Can you go in and check on her and then come out, please?
Nurse: The doctor's been in with her for a while now. If you can be patient, she should be out in a few minutes.
Will: What does that mean? Why? It's already... it's--it's over? She--
Nurse: Should be. Yes.
Rafe: Where's Gabi? Where is she?
Nurse: Sir, you can't go in there.
Rafe: Unlock the door. Unlock the door!
Daniel: Hello? Hey, there, my little world traveler. Yeah, your grandmother's telling me you've gone expat on us. Mm-hmm. I'm guessing you're feeling right at home there. Yeah. Well, I couldn't be happier for you, Mel. Uh...no, no, no. You don't wanna hear about me. I'm, uh, I'm boring. Ah, she did, did she? Hmm. Uh, no, no, it's true. Things have been pretty intense around here, but I think the worst is over. What do you mean what do I mean? I mean things are, uh, things are looking up. I think I'm moving on with my life. That's what I mean.
Daniel: Hold on a second. I think I heard something outside. Hold on. I guess not. No, I am so happy that you called. Um, you know, while I got you on the line, I've been considering something, and I'd like to know what, uh, what you think.
Jennifer: I don't know what you're talking about. I just saw Daniel yesterday, and he seemed fine.
Maggie: Yes, he is, considering everything he's been through. That's why I have to wonder why you're pressuring him.
Jennifer: What? What are you talking about?
Maggie: About his hands. The clinical trial.
Jennifer: No, I'm not pressuring him. I just wanted him to read the research. I wanted him to really look at it.
Maggie: Even when he said he didn't wanna get his hopes up about it, and that the drug might not even work? Why did you make him promise that he'd still think about it?
Jennifer: I just--I think there's a risk in every treatment, don't you? And don't you think if he can have his surgical career back, that would be a great thing?
Maggie: Of course. My concern is the timing. I mean, what's the rush? Because if it fails, it's like a punch in the gut. And I worry that that could be one punch too many.
Jennifer: Aunt Maggie, I understand--
Maggie: What's wrong with waiting? Waiting until the drug gets approved. And by then, maybe Daniel will be in a better place.
Jennifer: Yeah, I just--I wanted to help him, Aunt Maggie. He has done so much for me and I thought, you know, if he could get in on this trial and not miss it... especially if it could work for him.
Maggie: But Jennifer, there's a chance it won't. And the risks, they're his to deal with. Not yours.
Rafe: Unlock the door.
Nurse: You're not authorized to demand access to the exam rooms. Who do you think you are? I'm calling Security.
Rafe: I'm a cop. Now, unlock the door!
Nurse: I'm not doing anything until you show me a warrant.
Rafe: Okay, now you're not listening to me. Either you unlock the door, or I'm gonna break the damn thing down.
Sami: Rafe, stop it.
Rafe: How long has Gabi been here, hmm?
Will: A while.
Rafe: A while? What does "a while" mean?
Will: Like...the nurse said the procedure's already done.
Rafe: "Procedure"? Proce--is that the euphemism they use around here? Is that what you use? Huh? Why did you bring her here, Will?
Dr. Hill: You're okay, Gabi. You're gonna be all right.
[Knock on door]
Daniel [Sighs] Uh-uh.
Daniel: Jennifer, hey.
Jennifer: Um, do you have a minute?
Daniel: I do. D-do you wanna come in?
Jennifer: Yes. Thank you. I, um... I just--I just came here because I-I owe you an apology.
Daniel: Apology? For what?
Jennifer: For pushing you into considering that clinical trial. I mean, when you sa--when you said no, I should have just let it go because I know that you had your reasons for turning it down and you know, this is your journey. It's not mine. I was--I was trying to find a way to repay you for everything that you've done for me. But this isn't right. This isn't the way to do it. And I was presumptuous for even getting involved, and I was so out of line. And I just wanna say I'm sorry.
Daniel: Uh, first of all, um, you don't have to apologize to me. And secondly, I was gonna call you when I got to work--
Jennifer: I know, to tell me to back off, I totally get it--
Daniel: To tell you--no, I was gonna do it.
Daniel: Yeah, I'm going to-- I talked to Maggie and then Melanie.
Daniel: This morning a little bit--just a little while ago. And I couldn't get you out of my head and then the things that you said to me, all that stuff. And so, um, yeah, the bottom line is, um, you're right. I gotta--I gotta do this whatever the results are. I do, because I have to take that risk. It's--it's who I am. And you made me see that. So thank you.
Eric: [Slight laugh] [Sighs] Hey. I was just thinking about you. What's wrong?
Nicole: Um... I want you to know I took your advice.
Eric: You went to go see Jennifer?
Nicole: Yeah, I, um... I apologized to her for what I had done and everything I accused her of.
Eric: Well, how did it go? Did she accept your apology?
Nicole: Yes. She did.
Eric: You know, I'm really proud of you. It takes a lot of strength to do that. Why are you so down?
Nicole: Because I didn't have the strength to face Daniel and say the same thing. I couldn't even bring myself to knock on his door.
Eric: Why not?
Nicole: Because I heard him talking on the phone, telling his daughter that he was moving on with his life. Without me. And it was just too much, Eric. It was just too much.
Nick: [Kiss] What? Oh, my God.
Rafe: Why, Will? Why?
Sami: Okay, you know what, there's absolutely no call to talk to my son like that.
Rafe: He brought her here!
Sami: Because of me!
Rafe: What? What are you talking about?
Sami: I knew what Gabi was going through, and I told Will that she could use a friend right now. I didn't want her to be alone. I asked him to help her.
Rafe: To help her? To help her what? By bringing her here?
Will: No, no, hey, hey! It wasn't like that, okay? When Gabi told me she was pregnant, she also told me--
Rafe: Told you what? Not to say anything to Nick? Not to say anything to me? Not to tell anyone "I want an abortion"?
Will: No, that's not what it is! She said that the baby--
