Episode #11963 ~ Sami Cautions Eric to Stay Away From Nicole; A Mugger Attacks Brady & Kristen
Provided By Suzanne
Proofread By Gisele
Eric: I thought you had forgiven Nicole.
Sami: I tried. I'm always trying. She doesn't make it easy.
Eric: What is that supposed to mean?
Sami: She's a lot worse than she ever has been, and you should just stay away from her.
Eric: I hear you, Sami, but I really don't think you have to worry.
Sami: Are you kidding me? You think a priest collar's gonna stop her? Please, this is Nicole. We're talking jail cells and restraining orders and chastity belts. She's conquered them all.
Eric: Well, Nicole and me, that was a long time ago.
Sami: I don't think Nicole sees it that way. Look, just do your big sister a favor and stay away from her. You see her? You cross the street, okay? Just pull out some holy water or a cross or wooden stake.
Eric: We actually don't do it that way.
Sami: Well, do whatever it takes. Don't let her get anywhere near you.
EJ: Nicole. Don't leave on my account.
Nicole: I wasn't.
EJ: Good. Look, let's, um, chat, shall we?
[Knocks at door]
Jennifer: Come on in. I just need to finish up this report, and I will be right with you. [Gasps] Daniel.
Daniel: Yeah. How come you look surprised to see me?
Jennifer: No, I-I am, a little bit.
Daniel: But we were gonna talk? You wanted to talk to me?
Jennifer: Uh, yes, absolutely. I just--I didn't realize that you would be here so soon.
Daniel: Okay, if this is a bad time, I can come back--
Jennifer: It's not a bad time, really. I just, um--I'm sorry. I...[Sighs] I'm so out of it. I just had a friend just come by here out of the blue.
Daniel: Oh, why don't you look very happy about it?
Jennifer: Mm, they're not really a friend anymore. Quite the opposite, actually.
Daniel: Yee, sorry.
Jennifer: No, no, it's okay. You know, it made me realize, um, as I've gotten older--if not wiser--it made me realize that I know who my true friends are and how much they mean to me.
Kristen: You took John's place on the board? Why?
Brady: Why? [Clears throat] To keep you the hell out of his life.
Kristen: Watch your language. You can't throw words like that around. You're in the Lord's house.
Brady: Oh, you're one to talk?
Kristen: I am here for one reason and one reason only, and that's to serve the people of this parish.
Kristen: Excuse me, I have a meeting to prepare for.
Brady: Oh, okay.
Kristen: Pardon me.
Brady: Okay. [Clears throat] Oh, about the meeting, by the way, there is no meeting.
Brady: Yeah, I texted Father Tobias and the rest of the board. I told them to postpone it.
Brady: Because I don't want the board to be subjected to the conversation we're gonna have. I know you were looking forward to spending some alone time with my father, but I am sorry. You're going to deal with me.
Eric: And if Nicole comes into St. Luke's, I should just throw her out on the street?
Sami: I don't think you have to worry about that.
Eric: I don't think I have to worry at all.
Sami: Are you serious? This is Nicole we're talking about. She's single, she's alone, she's miserable, and that priest collar has gotta be the biggest challenge she's ever seen.
Sami: She's not gonna give up!
John: Eric Brady. Your mother said you were here. Hey, kid, look at you. [Sighs] So good to have you home.
Eric: Good to see you.
John: Just give a call next time, you know? Don't surprise us like this.
Marlena: Doesn't get much better, does it?
EJ: What's the matter? Do I make you nervous?
Nicole: I don't know, EJ. Should I be?
EJ: What do you think?
Nicole: When you left the hospital, you gave me that look, so I thought--
EJ: Thought you were done for. [Exhales] Nicole, you lied to me for nine months. You kept me from the joy of impending fatherhood. Where do you think we would be right now if you just told me the truth?
Nicole: We'd be exactly where we are right now.
EJ: Well then, you don't have anything to be nervous about, do you? It's glorious.
Abigail: Chad, hey! What are you doing here? Is everything okay?
Chad: Yeah, yeah. I'm just picking up, uh, Theo from occupational therapy.
Abigail: Oh, that's nice of you.
Chad: Yeah, I mean, uh, I'm glad to help out Abe. I know he's got a lot on his plate right now.
Chad: Um, how are you? Are you, uh, visiting someone?
Abigail: Kind of. My mom started back at work again, so I just wanted to say welcome back, and, you know, hope everything's going well.
Chad: You, uh--you hanging in there?
Abigail: Yeah, most days.
Chad: Hey, um, Theo and I, we have an ice cream date, and I mean, I don't know what you've planned, but, uh, he's been asking a lot about you, and, um, just wondering if you maybe want to come with us?
Abigail: Yeah, I'd love that.
Jennifer: Oh, wait--
Daniel: No, Jenn, Jenn, before you say anything, I think I know what this is about.
Jennifer: No, I don't think you do.
Daniel: But what is that?
Jennifer: This is something that could change your whole life.
Sami: So if the church hadn't sent you home, were you ever gonna come back?
Eric: Mm, of course. I planned on making a visit this summer. I really missed you all.
Sami: We really missed you, and I am so glad you are comfortable with everyone knowing you're a priest, and when you were in the seminary, it was tough to keep that to myself.
Eric: Boy, the only secret you actually kept.
Sami: Oh, how dare you! You may be a priest, but you are still my brother. You give me hell? I'm gonna give it back.
Eric: Well, I wouldn't expect anything different. But I really appreciate all your love, your support.
Marlena: It's our pleasure.
John: No problem.
Eric: You know what? Enough about me. I mean, what's up with you?
Marlena: I-I think you're trying to change the subject now.
Eric: Oh, no.
John: Yeah, I--you're not gonna get off that easy. We want to know what you've been up to.
Eric: Well, I'm not the only one who's trying to change the subject here?
John: Mm. [Chuckling]
Kristen: We've already talked, ad nauseam.
Brady: "Ad nauseam." That's a perfect choice of words because that is exactly how I feel when I look at you.
Kristen: Well, then, why don't you go?
Brady: I'm not the one that needs to go. You wanna get to my dad? It's not gonna happen 'cause you're gonna have to go through me, so why don't you save yourself the trouble? Pack your bags and get the hell outta here.
Kristen: You don't know what I want. You don't know anything about me, Brady.
Brady: I know that you're a world-class bitch. And a feisty one, too.
Nicole: I don't expect you to let bygones be bygones, EJ. So where are they?
Nicole: Your minions, so you keep your hands clean and your nails perfectly manicured.
EJ: What exactly is it you think I'm going to do to you, Nicki?
Nicole: I don't know. I'm sure you'll think of something creative.
EJ: What can I possibly do to you that is worse than what you've managed to do to yourself? Okay. You suffered the most horrible loss that a woman can know. Twice. Our baby is gone. You know, [Clears throat] Nicki, it really takes true talent to take a situation like that and actually make it worse for yourself, for everybody, in fact.
Nicole: I know.
EJ: You were really jealous of Jennifer Horton? I mean, she's so sweet, isn't she? She's so nice. She's so kind. Everybody worries about her. They feel for her. They adore her. Isn't it bad enough that your baby died, hmm? Did you really have to let an innocent woman suffer for something you did? I suppose it's some relief to know that she's now being cared for by Doctor Jonas. And I'll tell you this... sincerely, I'm really glad that you didn't take your own life. Did you think you were going to see your two dead babies in heaven? No? The only thing worse than the hell that you're living right now is hell itself.
Nicole: Well, I guess you'll find out for yourself, EJ--
EJ: And as for those men you used, Brady, Rafe--of course, Daniel--they're not going to forgive you. See, they don't love you. They weren't besotted with you, like I was. They're not gonna give you a second chance, sweetheart. In fact, they're not going to give you a second look.
Nicole: Shut up.
EJ: You know what? I will shut up, actually, 'cause I think the words that I've said are going to echo around in your head because they're true. You're going to be alone, Nicki, really alone for the rest of your life, so enjoy it now, 'cause I know I will.
Eric: Is there something I should know about?
Marlena: Oh, well, honey, you've been gone for a long time.
Father Tobias: Well, look who's here. I hope I'm not interrupting a family reunion.
John: No, Father Tobias, join us. I'll get us all a celebratory pint. Listen, why didn't you tell me that Eric was coming to St. Luke's?
Father Tobias: Oh, I didn't know myself. I just heard from the bishop this morning.
Father Tobias: Now, I'd love to stay and toast our new priest, but the truth is he couldn't have arrived at a better time. As you know, we're quite busy these days. Uh, the rest of your things just arrived if you'd like to get settled in.
Marlena: Oh, sure. Well, I'm gonna go and let you take care of things you've gotta take care of then.
Eric: Wonderful. We'll have dinner or breakfast.
Marlena: All of those. Call me when you're free.
Eric: I will. I love you, Mom.
Marlena: Love you, baby. Oh.
John: Hey, kid, let us know if you need something.
Eric: Will do.
Father Tobias: Oh, John. Don't be a stranger. Oh, we're gonna miss you on the board.
Marlena: What does that mean?
John: I'll explain. I'll explain.
[Cell phone rings]
Father Tobias: If you'll excuse me. Hello?
Eric: You know what? I'm really glad my stuff is here. I have some presents for the kids, you know?
Eric: Is Johnny's favorite cubbie still Castor, I hope?
Sami: I can't believe-- you didn't have to get them anything. They're gonna be so happy to have you here for the holidays.
Eric: It's just more presents.
Sami: Oh, stop, stop it. I'm sorry, I can't even stop staring at you with this thing. I can't get used to it.
Eric: You will.
Sami: [Exhales] You know, I've been thinking about all the women whose hearts are gonna be broken when they find out.
Eric: I'm sure they won't.
Sami: I'm sure they will.
Kristen: Let go. So if I'm a world-class bitch, what does that make you, Brady? Are you the hero coming to your daddy's rescue? That's funny, because I could've swore I heard that--weren't you a former addict? You were, right? So you're not exactly good news, either.
Brady: Kristen, find a way out of town, or I'm gonna find a box, and I'm gonna stick you in it and ship you out myself, okay?
Kristen: I'm trying so hard to be civil with you, but you don't make it easy. I really think it would be best for both of us if we ended this conversation right now.
Brady: I don't think so.
Kristen: You gotta make up your mind, Brady. Do you want me to go, or do you want me to stay? You know, on second thought, I don't care what you want. I'm outta here.
Brady: I'm not done with you yet.
Eric: Hey, what is it?
Eric: What can I do?
Nicole: There's nothing you can do. I dug myself this ditch, and I have to do the honorable thing and lie in it. [Cries]
Eric: Maybe you just need somebody to listen.
Nicole: [Cries] [Cries]
Jennifer: I mean, I-I'm not a doctor or anything, but I'm not reading it wrong, am I? You just seem like you would be the perfect candidate for this clinical trial. This injection just seems like it would stop your tremors and just put you back in the O.R. where you belong.
Daniel: Where--where did you hear about this?
Jennifer: Well, it was a press release a couple weeks ago, but before I had a chance to look into it--
Daniel: You got a little sidetracked.
Jennifer: Yeah, but I also didn't wanna give you false hope, you know? I wanted to get all the information together before I said anything.
Daniel: I appreciate that.
Jennifer: And on the very last page, you'll see notes, and they're from the conversation I had with the head of this entire research project. And Daniel, I'm telling you, he really believes that this 14J protocol, that it is the best treatment option that's come along in years, and not that I'm qualified to judge whether he's right or not, but I just thought listening--
Daniel: I can't believe you did this for me.
Jennifer: Of course, I did.
Daniel: I just...
Jennifer: I just hope you, um, maybe follow through with this and get in on this trial before it closes.
Daniel: Well, I will do the research, and I will let you-- I will let you know. Thank you. This is, um--this is very unexpected.
Jennifer: I just, um-- I want, uh-- I want this to work out for you, because you deserve some really good news, you know? We all do.
Daniel: Yeah, we do, so, um, I'm gonna take this home, and I will, uh--I will start reading.
Jennifer: Good luck.
Daniel: Great, thank you. Appreciate it. Thanks.
Chad: Oh, oh, ahh! I let you win. I let you win. Hey, you ready to go?
Abigail: Yes, but my mom's door was closed earlier. Do you mind if I peek in really fast before we go?
Chad: [Groans] Sure, sure.
Abigail: Daniel! Hi.
Daniel: Hey. Uh, you here to see your mom?
Abigail: Yeah, I don't want to interrupt her, though, if she's in the middle of something.
Daniel: No, no, no, she's in her office. I'm sure she'll be, um--she'll be thrilled to see you.
Abigail: Okay. Thanks.
Abigail: I'll be right back.
Chad: Okay. Let's go.
Abigail: Mom. Hi.
Jennifer: Oh, oh, hi! What are you doing here?
Abigail: These are for you. Hope you're having a great first day back.
Jennifer: Thank you, honey. I-I am. It's--it's kinda crazy busy, but--
Abigail: Well, I don't wanna keep you. We have an ice cream date to get to, anyway.
Jennifer: Oh! Hey. That's great. Uh, all right. I'll see you at home then.
Abigail: Yeah. Um, things with Daniel aren't weird, are they?
Jennifer: No. No, they're not. Why?
Abigail: I just--I saw him when he was headed out, and he seemed pretty serious, so--
Jennifer: Uh, he's just doing some research, and I hope it all pans out for him.
Abigail: Yeah, well, whatever it is, I hope so too. Don't work too hard.
Jennifer: I won't. I won't. I promise I will stop every five minutes and smell those beautiful flowers.
Jennifer: I love you.
Abigail: I love you too. Ready, boys?
Chad: Oh, yep, well, yep. Let's do it. Come on. I'll race you this time. I'll race you. Come on.
Kristen: Excuse me. Can I help you with something?
Thief: Oh, absolutely. You could start with that designer watch and anything else you got inside that expensive handbag... and then we'll, uh, take it from there.
[Knocks at door]
Daniel: All right, I'm coming, I'm coming. [Sighs]
[Knocks at door]
Daniel: Hey, I'm coming. I'm coming. I'm-- Jennifer.
Jennifer: What is this?
Jennifer: You told me you were so grateful for this research, and I found it in the trash. You threw this in the trash.
Daniel: Okay, I'm sorry, Jennifer. I am grateful for everything that you've done, but to be honest with you, taking your research and telling you that I'm gonna look at it was a lot easier than trying to explain to you why I am not interested in pursuing it.
Eric: Feel like talking? No strings attached. You know, you look like you could use a friend.
Nicole: [Scoffs] We're not friends, Eric.
Eric: We were. We were good friends. The best.
Nicole: Yeah, until I broke your heart. You--you didn't really know me then, and you certainly don't know me now.
Eric: And I have a feeling I know you better than you think.
Nicole: No, you don't, because the girl who thought $5 million meant more than true love? That--that girl is long gone.
Eric: Nicole, I told you. I'm not gonna judge you, not anymore.
Nicole: So we'll just leave it up to God, right? Well, let me tell you something. He doesn't approve. So judge away, 'cause after I tell you what I did, you won't be able to help yourself.
Sami: [Speaking Japanese]
EJ: That's a very good accent. I'm sure Mr. Nakamoto was very impressed.
Sami: How did you know that's who I was talking to?
EJ: You didn't get the memo? Oh, I'm sorry. I'm taking over my sister's responsibilities here at Countess Wilhelmina.
EJ: Oh, actually, you know what? Come to think of it, I don't think I sent the memo. It's been sort of a busy day.
Sami: So what you're saying is that--
EJ: I'm saying you work for me.
Sami: That's interesting. I thought Kristen loved pushing me around.
EJ: She did, but, um, apparently, she loves her family more. After the, um, tragedy of losing my son, she wanted me to be a little bit more rooted.
Sami: So what does this mean, EJ? That, uh, she's bringing you back into the DiMera fold?
EJ: No. I'm carefully maintaining my own independence, thank you.
Sami: Good for you. I thought you were gonna run for governor or president, even. Are you sure you're gonna get your power kicks from powder puffs and lipstick?
EJ: Samantha, I don't think you should diminish the work that you actually do here. You're willing to toil under my sister, a woman who you hate, to keep this wonderful job. I'm sure your mother had a few choice things to say about it as well.
Sami: Oh, you know my mother. She has something to say about everything.
EJ: Mm-hmm. What did you say to her?
Sami: That I couldn't quit.
EJ: Good. Jobs are hard to come by in this economy.
Sami: Especially with my resume, but I am very good at my job, I think.
EJ: Samantha, do me a favor. Just don't be nervous. I understand we've had somewhat of a tumultuous relationship, but I would've thought you would appreciate being out from under my sister's thumb.
Sami: I do. I am. I just don't think that's why you did this.
EJ: Let's just say it seemed like a win-win situation for both of us.
Marlena: I just can't exactly imagine that, um, you know, you resigning from the board is gonna keep Kristen out of our lives.
John: Yeah, don't be so sure. I drew a line in the sand. She understands. In fact, she has resigned her job at Countess Wilhelmina.
Marlena: She has?
John: She's not gonna be Sami's boss anymore. Mm-hmm.
Marlena: [Laughs] That's--oh, that's great news.
John: Now, I know that you-- you thought that I was blowing off all your concerns, but if you're upset, I'm upset. You've always been my better half, and I would be a fool not to listen to you.
Marlena: Well, I'll be reminding you of that at some point, I'm sure.
John: You won't have to. That's another promise.
Kristen: What makes you think you're going to get anything from me?
Thief: I asked nicely, but now I'm not asking.
Kristen: Get off of me!
Thief: Give me the purse!
Brady: Hey, hey, hey, hey! Get off of her, man. [Groans]
Kristen: Brady, behind you!
Kristen: Oh! No!
Chad: Oh--oh, okay. Okay. Whoa, whoa, whoa, just-- let's slow it down, buddy. You don't wanna get a brain freeze.
Theo: But it's melting.
Chad: It's melting? Uh, uh--I might be able to help you out with that. Let me just try and make sure it's okay.
Abigail: Ah, that was his dastardly plan.
Abigail: Theo, you know, my dad used to do the exact same thing to me? So I started ordering pistachio because I knew he wouldn't like it.
Chad: Okay, thank you, Abigail.
Theo: I'm thirsty.
Chad: Yeah? You want some water?
Abigail: I will get you some napkins.
Chad: Be right back. I'll grab some of this. Um, I am really glad you came with us.
Abigail: Yeah, me too. It's nice to see you smiling again.
Abigail: Thank you, by the way, for giving me an excuse to get out of the hospital.
Chad: Oh, did you not wanna run into Cameron again?
Abigail: No. I mean, we've talked, but it's just--it's awkward, you know?
Abigail: The worst part is I know that it's my fault.
Chad: I, um--I know what you mean. [Exhales] Feel really bad for Theo. It's not just that he's missing his mom. He's missing Melanie, and it's, uh--it's my fault she's gone. And he keeps asking when she's coming back, and all I can say is--is "soon, I hope."
Abigail: Soon? Oh, my God. You haven't heard?
Chad: Heard what?
Abigail: Melanie is staying in Europe with her mom, Chad. She's not coming back. I'm so sorry. I-I thought that you knew. Are you all right?
Chad: Yeah, yeah. I'm just, uh, surprised, that's all. I mean, Mel's got her dad and Maggie here, and her friends--
Abigail: Except she wasn't even really talking to Gabi anymore. Whatever happened, anyway? What did Gabi do to make you and Melanie so upset with her?
Chad: Uh, don't worry about it.
Daniel: Okay, Jennifer. I already heard about this trial.
Jennifer: Okay, I didn't know that.
Daniel: Well, let me tell you something, there are side effects. Also, participating in this would preclude me from trying any other treatment--any other treatment.
Jennifer: Mm, I see. So you, who swims with sharks and performs surgeries that no one else would dare even try, thinks this is too risky.
Daniel: Okay, Jenn, Jenn, being a surgeon used to define who I was, and when I could not operate anymore, it had taken me months just to come to terms with what I had lost. [Smacks papers on table] [Sighs] Look, I see some hope here, but Jenn, if this--I don't know. If this doesn't work.
Jennifer: I know. I know. You don't wanna go through that whole thing all over again. I get that. I also know that this was not just about you losing your career. You felt like you had to go through it all alone. I mean, you left Salem. You--you closed everyone out who cared about you. But I just want you to know that if you do decide to do this, whatever happens, you're not gonna be alone.
Sami: You think my family had a problem with me working for Kristen? This isn't much better at all.
EJ: Samantha, you already share two children with me. What is the difference? Unless you're worried about what Rafe would think.
Sami: No. Rafe doesn't have a say in what I do or do not do.
EJ: Okay, so what's the problem, hmm? Look, if you have something to say to me, just say it. Please don't worry about hurting my delicate feelings.
Kristen: Somebody help me! I'm calling the cops.
Thief: Come on, man.
Kristen: I need an ambulance at the town square, please. Hurry! Somebody's been attacked. He's unconscious. I don't know. I don't know! Please, just hurry! Brady, are you okay? Brady, wake up. Brady?
Jennifer: I just feel like you have been really selfless with me... and with Jack and Nicole. You've really--you've taken care of everyone but yourself right now, Daniel.
Daniel: I-I don't need you to take care of me, Jenn.
Jennifer: I kn--I know that you don't, but I'm trying to figure out a way to make this right, to figure out a way to thank you for everything that you have done.
Daniel: No, I don't know. You don't--
Jennifer: Listen, this isn't about me. Look at me. It's not about me. All right, whether you decide to go through with this or not, it doesn't matter. I just want you to know that there are people who care about you. All right, you have Victor and you have Maggie. We're not going anywhere.
Daniel: Okay. I will look at it.
Jennifer: Okay. Good.
Daniel: But that's all I'm going to say for right now.
Jennifer: Okay. Then that is all that I'm going to ask right now. I know you won't be sorry.
Sami: I don't wanna leave this job. I-I love it.
Sami: And I didn't mean to sound ungrateful, EJ. I know I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you.
EJ: Samantha, you're extremely talented, and I, for one, you know, think that the experience of working with you is going to be wonderful. Samantha, truly wonderful.
Sami: You have ideas, EJ. I can tell.
EJ: Actually, I do have an idea for a new, uh, product line. It is going to involve us working intimately together. I do hope that's not a problem.
Sami: I'm just gonna say it. This isn't about me, right? Or us?
EJ: Samantha, there is no us.
EJ: Good. Uh, and also, we don't have to start tonight. It is getting a little bit late, and I heard that you have a family to go home to.
Sami: Ha! Kate used to love making me work till midnight. Not that I am afraid of hard work, because I am not. It's just--
EJ: I think that's one of the things you'll like about me. I'm acutely aware of the fact that you have a private life. Go on. Skedaddle. Go and kiss my kids good night, okay?
Sami: Thank you. Excuse me. Arigato.
Nicole: I-I feel like I'm going to confession. I mean, not that I've ever done that before, but--
Eric: Forget about where you are for a second. Just forget about that I'm even wearing this white collar.
Nicole: I-I don't think so.
Eric: You know, maybe saying things out loud might actually help. It might not be as bad as you think.
Nicole: Oh, believe me, it is. It is. You know what, Eric? You're gonna hear what happened anyway, so you may as well hear the whole sordid tale from me.
Marlena: I'm so sorry.
John: Sorry about what?
Marlena: Kristen, um, coming back to town has got me so anxious and out of sorts.
John: Well, I would think there'd be something wrong if you weren't.
Marlena: I really have to remind myself that you are not my enemy, that she is. Wow. I was sure you were about to disagree with me.
John: I get it, Doc. I do. Do you feel better?
Marlena: I can't tell you how much better I feel. [Exhales]
John: I love you more than anything, sweetheart.
Marlena: I love you too, more than anything. Oh, my gosh. You know what? I've got--I've got a patient I've gotta call, and, uh, adjust an appointment. [Sighs] I'm out of power here.
John: Mm, no problem. Here, use mine. And I will give you a little bit of privacy.
Marlena: Thank you... for everything.
John: I'll be right over there.
Kristen: Is the ambulance on its way? Please. Thank you. Thank you. Brady, it's gonna be okay. They're gonna be here any second, all right? Hang in there.
John: Hi, you've reached John Black. Please leave a message after the beep.
Kristen: John, it's Kristen. Brady's been attacked. Go to the hospital and meet us there right away. Hurry.
Marlena: Hi, Mrs. Gregory. It's Dr. Evans. I'm sorry to have missed our appointment. Um, why don't you call my office and reschedule, and we'll talk very soon? Thanks. Bye-bye. [Scoffs] Really?
Kristen: Thank God. Can you hear me? Brady, can you hear me? You're gonna be all right, Brady. They're here. You're gonna be okay. You're gonna be fine, all right? Just hang in there, okay? Take it easy.
