Rafe: Out with it, Brady. Why'd you call me?
Gabi: Please don't tell Rafe I'm pregnant. Please.
Sami: Okay. Okay. I'm not gonna tell him, but you have to. That's your job.
Gabi: He's gonna hate me.
Sami: He loves you. You're his sister. He could never hate you.
Gabi: Worse, he's gonna be disappointed in me.
Sami: Rafe is not gonna judge you.
Gabi: Right. Whatever. Yeah, no, you can't tell him. You can't say anything because I trusted you.
Sami: Actually, you know what, it wasn't that important.
Rafe: You know the more you bob and weave, the more I know it was important. So, for the last time, why'd you call?
Will: Gabi? Please tell me what's wrong.
Gabi: Not here. I need to talk to you, just not here.
Maxine: It's about time you brought me those files. And it's also about time you got back to work, girlfriend.
Jennifer: You can't do it, can you? You can't just be, like, across-the-board nice. You have to be a little snarky and then you're nice. Right? Let me tell you something, Maxine. I missed everything...
Jennifer: About this place. Except you.
Maxine: Uh. Hit it, girls.
Jennifer: [Gasps] What in the world? Maxine, that is so sweet. Thank you.
Maxine: Well, you know how we are. Anything for baked goods.
Jennifer: It really, really is good to be back.
Daniel: It's nice to hear you say that. Hi.
Kristen: So you really think I've changed? I can't tell you what that means to me that you believe that.
Brady: Kristen. What a surprise. I sure hope I'm not interrupting anything here.
[Cell phone rings]
Marlena: Hi there. You are not going to believe what I have to tell you.
Nicole: Eric? Is that you? What the hell?
Eric: Hi, Nicole. I don't think you should talk like that around me anymore.
Nicole: Go--I mean, is that a... [Chuckles] I'm sorry, but is that a joke?
Eric: Well, I hope not. I worked very hard to get it.
Nicole: Yeah, but you're a...
Eric: I don't mind. You can say the word. Priest.
Gabi: It's really important, Will.
Will: Okay, okay. Can you just give me, like, one minute?
Will: Okay. Sorry. I'm sorry. I said I would talk to her because she's upset and--
Sonny: You don't have to explain to me that someone else needs you. I like what a good friend you are.
Will: Well, I'll try and make this as fast as possible.
Sonny: You better.
Will: It is clear, isn't it, that I would much rather be here with you?
Sonny: Look at it this way. For us, this is just the beginning. We have all the time in the world. You know? Put that on. Oh.
Gabi: Oh, my God, what have I done? What have we done?
Nicole: I think I've driven men to drink before. In fact, I know I have. But never, never this. Wow.
Eric: It's great to see you too.
Nicole: Well, is it still okay to hug?
Eric: I'm rationed. Only three a week.
Eric: You're... as beautiful as ever. No, more beautiful.
Nicole: So are you here to see your family? Do you know how long you'll be around?
Eric: Well, truth is, these days it's all I seem to know. I'm back for good.
Sami: There's no point in me telling you what I was calling about because I handled it already.
Rafe: So it was something you wanted me to handle?
Sami: I didn't say that.
Rafe: Mm, kind of did.
Sami: Why are you being like this? It was just a stupid phone call.
Rafe: Oh, you want to know why? Because it sounded like you needed me. And I was hoping that was true.
Gabi: Hey, I'm sorry about just now, screwing things up with Sonny.
Will: You didn't screw anything up. Sonny's your friend too, and we both worry about you. Hey, Gabi. What's wrong? Did something happen with Nick? What--what's going on?
Gabi: Will, I'm pregnant.
Brady: So, Dad, according to Kristen, you believe? What do you believe? That you can fly? That for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows? Or that she's a changed woman?
Brady: That's it, right?
Kristen: Brady, you're kind of starting to bug me.
John: Son, dial it down.
Brady: Yes, sir.
John: I'm glad we had this talk.
Kristen: Me too. Thanks so much. I know the two of you have business, and so do I, and, John, I will see you at the St. Luke's fundraising meeting, okay? Unless, of course, that one has me excommunicated first. See you.
Brady: What are you doing? Hm?
John: You know, son, I think you and I are experiencing some kind of a disconnect. You think that I owe you an explanation. I think it's none of your damn business.
Jennifer: Everyone's pretending to be working, but they're checking us out, aren't they?
Daniel: Would you like me to keep my distance?
Jennifer: I don't want you to keep your distance. I would like to talk to you, though. Would you mind stopping by my office in a little while?
Daniel: Yeah, I think I can manage that.
Jennifer: Great. Well, I am here to work.
Daniel: Uh, Jen?
Daniel: It's your first day, so just, you know, take it easy.
Jennifer: I'm gonna be fine. I'll see ya.
Daniel: Yeah. Yeah, definitely.
Jennifer: Thanks again, ladies, so much. Will you save me some for Abigail so I can bring it home? Thanks.
Maxine: Nice to have her back, isn't it, Doctor?
Daniel: Do you work ever? Ever?
Maxine: I'm just saying.
Nicole: I mean, why? Why did you do this? It just seems so...
Eric: Out of character.
Nicole: Well, no, it just-- you've always been so good, and this is such a big step. What happened?
Eric: Well, it didn't happen all at once. I mean, I wasn't like St. Paul on the way to Damascus. [Chuckles]
Eric: I'm sorry. You know, sometimes I use these biblical references. But, yes, I was a photojournalist. Somewhere, somehow I just started to think that, you know, maybe I shouldn't just be taking pictures of what's wrong with the world. Maybe I should do something about what's wrong with the world. And then...
Nicole: And then?
Eric: And then there was this, like, life-changing experience. I mean, it kind of sort of prompted my decisions.
Nicole: Life-changing experiences. Yeah, I've--I've had a few of those.
Eric: Nicole... I know all about it.
Kristen: Hi, Jennifer. It's been such a long time.
Will: You're gonna have a baby?
Gabi: I just found out.
Will: Okay. It's okay. Oh, it's okay. This is gonna be huge, I know, but it's gonna be okay. It's okay.
Gabi: I'm scared.
Will: I know. I know. And that's okay. Listen, though, Gabi, if Nick is half the guy that you tell me he is, it's gonna be fine. Listen to me, it's gonna be fine. You can tell him.
Gabi: It's a lot more complicated than that.
Will: No, I don't think it is. Gabi, it's okay. He's the father. He has to know.
Gabi: It's just--
Will: It's what? What?
Gabi: He's not the father, Will. You are.
Nicole: If you know what I did, you must hate me.
Eric: Nicole. I could never hate you. Ever. And I don't judge. It's not part of my job description.
Nicole: Really, well, then who told you?
Nicole: Oh, yes, of course, she did. Nothing she loves more than broadcasting my sins.
Eric: It wasn't like that. I know Sami's not the most forgiving person in the world, but she wasn't gloating. She told me that she can see that grief can make people do things they would never think to do otherwise. You went to prison, and you paid for what you did. It's over, right?
Nicole: She told you about Sydney?
Eric: There's more?
Nicole: Eric, come on, it's me. There's always more.
Eric: Okay, do you want to talk to me about it?
Nicole: No, I don't... I don't know. I mean, I fell in love, and hilarity ensued.
Eric: Sounds more like a lot of pain ensued.
Nicole: Isn't that always what happens? I'm sorry. I'm--I'm sorry. Just pretend this isn't happening, because that's what I always do.
Eric: Nicole, I'm sorry if I said the wrong thing. Are you okay?
Nicole: You still care, don't you? After all this time, you still care.
[Knock at door]
Daniel: Hey, what are you-- what are you doing here?
Maggie: Oh, Maxine said you went home for an hour.
Daniel: Yeah, it's a hellish day. Thought I might not scare my patients if I took a shower.
Maggie: And dinner? You always forget to eat.
Daniel: Oh, yeah, Maxine and Maggie in collusion now, huh?
Maggie: Oh, that's right. Your every move is known to me. Clam chowder. Um, tuna on rye, okay?
Daniel: You know it is. Yeah. Thanks. I've been meaning to tell you I'm sorry about what I put you through, both you and Victor. When I was leaving from Salem, I know that wasn't--it wasn't easy on you.
Maggie: It's okay. We're just relieved that you're staying. We love you so much.
[Tapping on back]
Maggie: Okay, this--this awful day that you had, tell me about it.
Daniel: You know, could I-- got to check my phone a second. Just been trying to get ahold of Nicole, but it keeps going straight to voicemail.
Maggie: And here's Maggie, saying nothing.
Daniel: What? What, am I supposed to not call her or worry about her?
Maggie: Oh, well, yeah, someone should. I'm just not convinced that that's--that you're the right person. Now come on, eat.
Daniel: Yeah, okay, yeah. Sure. I guess she does--she said she has a counselor at the hospital and she was gonna go to see her sister, I guess, Taylor.
Maggie: Good. Oh, did I tell you I heard from Melanie?
Daniel: Did I tell you that? Apparently, I didn't.
Maggie: I'm sorry.
Daniel: No, I'm sorry. Yeah, she--apparently you know that she's staying out with Carly, right?
Maggie: Yeah, yeah, I already started leaving travel brochures about Barcelona on Victor's breakfast tray.
Daniel: You don't need to do that, because you know you got him wrapped around your little finger, right?
Maggie: That's true.
Maggie: I thought that we should wait till all three of us could go, you know, together.
Daniel: Yeah, it'd be nice, but I'm not sure I can get away from the hospital, you know.
Maggie: I understand. You're key personnel. Of course. [Clears throat] And Jennifer's back.
Daniel: Yeah, can you--could you--can you give that a rest, okay? 'Cause--don't start with that.
Maggie: I was just wondering if that shower was for your patients or for her.
Jennifer: I heard you were back.
Kristen: Yeah. I should have stopped by sooner.
Jennifer: Oh, no, don't worry. I was really hard to find. I've been in jail, I've been at the D.A.'s office, I've been a very busy woman.
Kristen: I know. It's so horrible. I'm just so happy everything worked out for you eventually.
Jennifer: Thank you.
Kristen: And I'm so sorry about Jack.
Kristen: Of course. I know he and I never really got along, but I know how much you loved him and what he meant to you and your kids. Look, I know I screwed up. I don't... I still care about you. That's all.
Jennifer: Right. So can I ask you a question? Why are you back in Salem?
Brady: You think I misread the situation? You think I'm jumping to conclusions here? Oh, by the way, Kristen was in possession of this somehow. She wanted me to give it back to you. She's so helpful. She really is.
John: What's your point?
Brady: Did she even tell you that she had this thing?
John: No, she didn't. But you're right, this changes everything. I want you to call 911 because we are on lockdown.
Brady: All right, all right, Dad, you know what, you're gonna be all cool about this and everything's fine. Everything is not fine. The woman is here to cause trouble. And not small trouble, Dad. We're talking DiMera-quality trouble--kidnappings, murders, things like that.
John: You know, kid, you sure are getting a lot of mileage out of a misplaced money clip.
John: Yeah, I know, I know she's probably responsible for the Greek economy too. One quick question: If she is doing everything you say she's doing, what is in it for her?
[Money clip clatters]
Will: You--are you sure?
Gabi: That I'm pregnant? Yeah. That you're the father? Yes.
Will: I-I guess I just thought that, when you told me--
Gabi: Yeah, I know you did. Yeah, but I'm almost three months along, and Nick was still in prison.
Will: Was it that night?
Gabi: That one night.
Will: I'm sorry.
Gabi: No, I mean, we both knew that what was happening, you know, was mutual. I just--I don't know.
Will: Hey, hey, hey, look at me, Gabi. Listen to me. You are not alone. We are in this together. We are going to figure out what to do.
Gabi: Thank you.
Will: So did you tell Nick?
Will: Okay. So you and me and your doctor are the only ones who know.
Gabi: Um, no. No, actually, your mom knows too.
Sami: I don't know what to say.
Rafe: Huh. That never happens. Well, if you got the situation handled and you don't need me, then I'll just let you get back to work.
Sami: Rafe, I'm sorry, okay?
Rafe: No, no, no, we'll just skip the postmortem, okay?
Sami: Great. I should have figured that was gonna happen.
[Cell phone ringing]
Sami: Oh, my God.
Marlena: Ooh, ooh, oh, it's so good to have you home. Oh, my goodness. Can you come to supper tonight?
Marlena: And the next night and the next night?
Roman: Hey, Ma, how are you? Yes. All right, well, you know what? I got Eric right here.
Daniel: Can you just leave it alone?
Maggie: Daniel, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to tease you, not after everything you've been through.
Daniel: No, it's not that. Just--it's just me. I did something pretty stupid. I told Jennifer I love her. Ugh.
Daniel: Yeah, and I think she knows that I meant it.
Maggie: Is that a bad thing?
Daniel: Oh, yeah, it is a bad thing, 'cause just now, at the hospital, she wants to talk to me privately. Yeah, I think--I think she's just trying to find a way to, you know, let me down easy.
Maggie: Wow. You have this all worked out, don't you?
Daniel: I do. When you talk about what I've been through, she--she is not ready for anything with me. Nothing. Not now and--and, I don't know, maybe--maybe not ever.
Maggie: You know, my son... I don't know about that.
Kristen: Why did I come back to Salem? I've been asked that a lot.
Jennifer: Hmm. It's an interesting question.
Kristen: Yeah. Well, had some family business, but that's not the only reason.
Jennifer: Yeah, I didn't think so, Kristen.
Kristen: Yeah, um, well, I don't expect people like you to just be my friend again. But I did want to make amends to those people that I hurt.
Jennifer: And to that end, have you seen John or Marlena?
Kristen: Oh, yeah, both of them. I extended an olive branch, and of course, Marlena brought out the exfoliant.
Jennifer: You're surprised?
Kristen: No, no, I'm not surprised, no. You know what's been kind of surprising, though, is John. I mean, he seems to understand my need to make amends. It's very sweet.
Kristen: Yeah. Oh, he's the only one. He's the only one. I mean, that Brady, isn't he a piece of work? From what I've read and heard, you've had your own personal experience with his judgmental streak, right? Isn't he a tough nut?
Jennifer: You know what, if you are trying to get me to bad-mouth Brady, it's not gonna happen.
Kristen: No, no, no, not at all.
Jennifer: Okay, good, because, when he thought Nicole was right and I was wrong, he was very honest and upfront about it, but, when it was all over, he was more than willing to say that he was wrong.
Kristen: Okay. Like I said, I can only hope that someday he realizes he's wrong about me too. Right?
John: You know, kid, it's great to see that you share Marlena's faith in me.
Brady: I'm talking about Kristen, not you.
John: No, no, you're talking about me, and it's coming off as pretty damn condescending.
Brady: Dad, you're trying to do the right thing, as always. That's great. But you fell in love a long time ago with a woman named Kristen, I understand that, but what I'm here to tell you is that that woman that you fell in love with no longer exists.
Will: You told my mother before you told me.
Gabi: No, no, she--she came to the hospital and overheard the doctor tell me.
Will: Well, she must want to talk to me right now.
Gabi: No, she--she doesn't know that you're the father. No one does.
Will: What, then she thinks it's Nick's?
Gabi: Yeah. And I told her that she couldn't tell anyone.
Will: Okay, well, that always works with her.
Gabi: Will, what am I gonna do?
Eric: So I'm gonna talk to Father Matt and Father Tobias about having mass here... for the entire family.
Roman: Wow. You saying mass at St. Luke's? Oh, my...oh. If Ma could only see that, huh? Wow. Uh, you know what, I'm going to look for something that we can toast with.
Eric: You know, I love how he thinks he's hiding his feelings.
Eric: You know what, just tell him we'll record it and send it to Grandma.
Marlena: Great. He's so proud of you. We all are. Oh, sweetie. I better help him find those glasses.
Eric: [Chuckling] Okay. Hey, Eddie, did--did you see Nicole?
Eddie: Yeah, she took off a little while ago.
Sami: Why, you little twerp. You better not expect me to call you "Father."
Daniel: [Scoffs] You have got to be kidding me. Jack was everything to Jennifer.
Maggie: Like Mickey was to me. And then Victor comes into my life, and there's a pull. And it's because he was, I think, pulling me toward life.
Daniel: Yeah, but that's different.
Maggie: Don't interrupt your mother!
Daniel: Wow. Dropping that card.
Maggie: You betcha. Anyway, you are right. There is a difference. Victor was someone I-I kind of-- I kind of sort of knew. But Jennifer, she had and has real feelings for you. And your feelings for her... they're right there.
Daniel: Yeah, but, see, Jen, Jen, she's not--she's not ready. She's not, and I don't want her to make a rash decision and then--especially if she's feeling beholden to me.
Maggie: Okay. You ever hear about waiting? You act, one, like you're both 17 years old, two, like there's an asteroid crashing into Salem tomorrow morning. Be grown up. Take it easy. Whew. Just let it happen. But it is good you showered.
Jennifer: Not that this isn't all very fascinating, but it's been a long day, and I have a mountain of paperwork I need to catch up on, Kristen.
Kristen: Oh. Well, okay. Far be it from me to stand between a woman and her paperwork. You know, but I'm so glad to see you working here. I can still imagine you down that hall with your grandmother and your grandfather at Christmas. They'd be so proud of you. I wonder what that's like. Anyway, it was good to see you.
Will: "What are you gonna do?" "What are we gonna do?", You mean. We're in this together, Gabi. Okay? We're both pregnant now.
Gabi: I kind of knew you'd say that.
Nick: Gabi. What's wrong? Is something wrong?
Will: No, it's my fault actually. I dragged her out here to tell her about my problems, and, you know, she's a good listener and sympathetic, so...
Nick: Yeah, typical.
Will: Excuse me?
Nick: Typical. You have any idea that she was in the hospital this morning? Why didn't you call me? I was worried sick about you.
Gabi: Nick, I'm sorry. I'm fine. Really, I'm fine.
Nick: You don't faint because you're fine. Hey, you're--you're friends with that jerk, Chad, right? Well, will you give him a heads up from me to back off?
Will: I'm sorry, Chad?
Nick: Yeah, he was hassling Gabi this morning at the pub, and if he keeps hassling her, I'm gonna hassle him.
Will: Okay, I'll pass that along.
Nick: Thank you.
Will: So, well, I'll--about that--that project for class, I'll be in touch, and I promise you that I will do my part.
Nick: You're doing a project with him?
Nick: So you get out of the hospital, you go on, like, a study date, and then you end up listening to his, like, his sob story? I mean, I got to tell you, Gabi, that feels really wrong to me.
John: You know, I want you to wrap your head around this, kid. Trying to help a troubled person find a way to get on with their life is not the same as being smitten. I love Marlena. I do not love Kristen. No threat.
Brady: "No threat"? You're a fool then.
John: Now you're on thin ice.
Brady: Dad, it's not about how you feel. It's about how Marlena feels. She doesn't see a troubled woman trying to make amends and trying to become a better person. She sees the crazy bitch that tried to kill her, Dad.
John: I grasp the concept.
Brady: Do you? Have you thought about what believing in Kristen is gonna do to Marlena?
Eric: I just--I don't know. I just can't believe I'm back.
Sami: I'm so glad you're here. Why didn't you call me? I would have picked you up at the airport.
Eric: Oh, I know. I just--you know, I just wanted to get my bearings straight.
Sami: What, before the full family onslaught?
Eric: Yeah, something like that. No, I went to the rectory. I unpacked. I went for a run. I went by the school, our--our old place. You know what? You'll never guess who saw me and then tracked me down here.
Sami: Don't tell me it was that bitch. It was. Nicole, wasn't it?
[Cell phone rings]
Nicole: Taylor, hi. Yeah, you want to know when I'm coming?
Kristen: So, Father Tobias, I know that I'm early, but I was hoping maybe I could just wait here if that's okay.
Father Tobias: No problem. Oh, by the way, we have a new priest joining us. He'll be chairing the meetings from now on. As a matter of fact, I'm on my way to meet him right now. Mind if I leave you alone here?
Kristen: Uh, no, do you think you need to lock up your silver first?
Father Tobias: You find anything worth stealing, you're welcome to it... if you don't mind incurring the wrath of God.
Kristen: I'll keep that in mind.
Brady: So where's the-- where's the meeting?
Kristen: Why, Brady, what a nice surprise.
Will: I'm back.
Sonny: How was Gabi?
Will: She--she had a problem.
Sonny: But you made it go away, right?
Sonny: Well, I don't want to sound cold or anything, but, you know, that's her problem, not yours. Guess I said the wrong thing.
Will: No, you didn't do or say anything wrong. Do you mind if we just not talk about it?
Sonny: I don't mind at all.
Nick: Look, I don't care what the doctors say, you should have blown Will off and come back here to get some rest.
Gabi: Look, please, really don't be mad at Will, okay? I'm sorry I didn't call you.
Nick: Look, as long as you're okay, it's fine. Get some sleep, okay? Promise me. And then text me if you need anything.
Gabi: Actually, there is something.
Nick: What is it?
Gabi: Would you mind staying here with me?
Nick: Of course.
Sami: I'm gonna have to learn not to talk like that in front of you, huh?
Eric: Well, it's not the language. It's the sentiment. I thought you had forgiven Nicole.
Sami: I tried. I'm always trying. She doesn't make it easy.
Eric: What's that supposed to mean?
Sami: Let me just say that she's worse now than she ever has been. You should stay away from her.
Nicole: I know I said I would be there by Thanksgiving, but things have changed, and I've decided to stay in Salem.
[Knock at door]
Jennifer: Come on in. Just give me one sec. I'm right in the middle of finishing up this report, and then we can...
Kristen: So what are you doing here? As if I didn't know.
Brady: I'm here for the meeting. I took my father's place on the board, Kristen-- permanently.
