Episode #11961 ~ Kristen & E.J. Discuss Sami; John Defends Kristen When Marlena Attacks Her
Provided By Suzanne

Nicole: Oh, my God. Eric? It can't be.
Kristen: I'm so glad you could come.
EJ: Well, "urgent" and "life-changing" does get my attention.
Kristen: I didn't oversell it.
EJ: I'm listening.
Kristen: Okay. So I've come up with a way... anyway, sorry. Um, I have a proposition for you. I think you're gonna really be intrigued by it.
Marlena: EJ, if I were you, I'd run right now. I know what you're trying to do to my husband... and my family. And it's not going to work.
Woman: Can I get you anything else?
Woman: Anything else?
Rafe: Nope. I'm good. I'm great.
Sami: So what's going on, Dr. Davis?
Gabi: Please just tell me.
Cameron: Gabi, you're pregnant.
[Cell phone ringing]
Cameron: Perfect timing. I'm sorry. I've got an emergency. Will you be okay here for a few minutes?
Cameron: I'll be back.
Sami: Yeah, we'll be here. Hey, so, um... that's some news, huh? Okay, so obviously you weren't expecting this. But you know what? It's gonna be okay, Gabi. It is gonna be okay. You're gonna be okay. I promise.
Kristen: Marlena, this is so unnecessary. Didn't we explain what happened at the Horton cabin? Do you want me to tell you again?
Marlena: I don't need another explanation--thank you so much. And I'm very clear that nothing that's happening is an accident or a coincidence.
Kristen: How could I possibly have known? How could I have known?
Marlena: It's not going to work, Kristen. No matter how many times you run into John or you use my daughter or you try to insinuate yourself into our lives, it's not going to work. Are you clear?
Kristen: The only problem we're having is in your mind. I'm sorry to tell you.
Marlena: You need to back off.
John: Whoa, hey, what's going on here?
Maxine: Ms. Walker, I want to talk to you.
Nicole: No, thanks.
Maxine: Listen, I understand-- I heard you had some very serious problems. I don't want to mess with your very seriously messed-up head, but--
Nicole: Okay, well, don't.
Maxine: Look, understand this. Jennifer Horton is like family to me.
Nicole: Right. Right. And if I hurt her again, you'll hunt me down. You'll make me pay. My life won't be worth living. Yeah, yeah, I get it, okay? Excuse me.
Sami: Rafe, it's me. Call me, please, as soon as you get this.
Gabi: Okay. No. No, Sami, it's not okay. No, this is not okay. I've been very careful.
Sami: I know, but that's what happens when you use birth control. It's not foolproof.
[Cell phone ringing]
Sami: It's Rafe.
Gabi: No. No, you can't answer it. No, please.
John: What did she do to you?
Marlena: I came in... and there she was.
John: That's it? Okay, let's go somewhere else. What?
Marlena: You're right. You're right--staying here is counterproductive. Why don't we just go?
EJ: That was quite impressive. I haven't seen Marlena that upset in a long time. She was my mother-in-law.
Kristen: Clearly she's imbalanced.
EJ: Is that the plan?
Kristen: I don't have a plan.
EJ: Of course, you don't. Of course, you don't. And this whole Smith Island incident that she's so hot and bothered about...
Kristen: One in a series of very strange coincidences.
EJ: Really? What happened?
Kristen: Mm, John and I ended up trapped on Smith Island overnight. [Sighs] Of course, Marlena thinks it's a vast conspiracy.
EJ: Ugh. It sounds like she's way off base. I mean, you wouldn't plan something like that, would you? It sounds to me more like, um, a synchronicity.
Kristen: Exactly! But Marlena will never believe that. So I guess I'm just gonna have to learn to live with these bizarre outbursts of hers. So we were talking about you, right?
EJ: Oh, yes, absolutely. This, uh, incredible life-changing opportunity of yours.
Kristen: How are things with Sami? I'm not trying to change the subject. I want to know about Sami. Last time I saw the two of you together, you made some inroads, right?
EJ: She's been more receptive, yes.
Kristen: Mm-hmm. And since then?
EJ: I don't really know, Kristen. I haven't seen her except for when I went to pick up the children the other day.
Kristen: Ugh. So, at this rate, it could take months for you to get her back, assuming that you have months before she patches things up with Rafe.
EJ: Well, thank you for that life-changing information.
Kristen: Must you always run away from me? I'm trying to help you. I have a way that you can spend all day, every day with Sami.
EJ: What's that?
Kristen: Well, if the two of you worked together, that would give you tons of opportunity to reconnect with her, correct?
EJ: Samantha is never going to agree to work with me.
Kristen: She'd be working for you. You'd be her boss.
EJ: [Laughing] That would be even worse, in her perspective.
Kristen: No, no, no, no. She'd agreed to work for me, EJ--me. Can you imagine the fit her family had? That tells you how badly she wants to stay at Countess W. I would imagine that John and Marlena would be very grateful that their daughter is no longer working for you. I think short of dropping dead, Marlena would never be grateful to me for anything.
EJ: And what about John? Come on. There has to be something in this for you.
Kristen: Of course.
Gabi: No. No, no, no, no, no. Sami, please, don't tell Rafe I'm pregnant, please.
Sami: Okay. Okay. I'm not gonna tell him, but you have to. That's your job.
Gabi: He's gonna hate me.
Sami: He loves you. You're his sister. He could never hate you.
Gabi: Worse, he's gonna be disappointed in me.
Sami: Rafe is not gonna judge you.
Gabi: Right. Whatever. Yeah. No, you can't tell him. You can't say anything because I trusted you, all right? You heard confidential information, because I trusted you to hear it.
Sami: Okay. You just stay calm, all right? Gabi, I won't tell him. But, you know, I mean, I have to call him back. I have to say something.
Gabi: Okay. Everything's fine. Everything's okay. Just--just make something up. You're good at that.
Gabi: Just tell him something about--that has nothing to do with me, okay?
Sami: Yes. Okay.
[Door opens, closes]
Gabi: Oh, my God.
Sonny: You okay?
Will: Uh... no. I think "okay" is... way too mild.
Sonny: You know, you don't have to pretend--
Will: It is perfect.
Will: Oh, yeah. What--I mean, for you?
Sonny: Oh, perfect. Perfect's the word.
Sonny: Mm-hmm. Really.
Will: You promise?
Sonny: I promise. Come here.
Rafe: Yeah? Sami, what's up?
Rafe: "Nothing"? I got your message. It sounded important.
Sami: Well, it was. But I figured it out on my own. Everything's fine.
Rafe: Yeah, it doesn't sound fine.
Sami: Well, it is. It's totally fine. So thank you for calling me back. I will talk to you later.
Nick: How's Gabi? Is everything okay?
Sami: [Chuckles awkwardly]
Nicole: Where else-- where else could he be? Nicole, it wasn't Eric. It couldn't have been. I mean, it's just been way too long. Eric. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Can you feel my heart racing? I ran so hard to see you. I couldn't stand to be away for another minute. What's wrong? What happened?
Eric: I hit my father.
Nicole: What? Why? Why? Was it because of me?
Eric: No, no, no. I'm leaving town tomorrow, Nicole. I don't know where I'm going. I'll let you know.
Nicole: Okay, um... I'm gonna see a lawyer tomorrow. I'm getting a divorce. And once we're free, we'll be together forever.
Eric: Forever. I love you, Nicole.
Nicole: I love you so much, with all my heart. But if it was, I... I have to find him.
Sonny: No, you were gonna say something.
Will: No, I wasn't.
Sonny: Yes, you were.
Will: No, it was wrong for this moment, I think.
Sonny: In this moment, nothing can be wrong.
Will: I don't know. I think you might want to run.
Sonny: That's a good try. But it's not working. Just tell me. Tell me.
Will: Okay. It's just, uh... it's everything about you-- you know, being with you. For the first time in my life, I feel secure in my own skin... for the first time ever. For the first time, I feel like I know who I am. And I... I feel like I know exactly where I want to be. Uh, but that doesn't mean that I'm mentally moving my stuff in here, so that's--don't freak out.
Sonny: I'm not gonna freak out.
Will: Okay. Guess I'm just not used to talking about my feelings.
Sonny: I understand. I'm glad that you did... because I, uh... I think we're both exactly where we belong.
Cameron: How you doing--okay?
Gabi: I'm pregnant, so, no, I'm not doing okay. I don't understand. I mean, how could-- how could it even show up in a test, like, so soon?
Cameron: Gabi, according to your HCG levels, you're at least nine weeks along-- I'd guess more like 12 weeks. So you'll want to see an Ob-Gyn, get examined, have a sonogram so you can get an exact date. I can give you a referral for an Ob-Gyn if you don't have one that you're comfortable with.
[Cell phone ringing]
Cameron: I'm sorry...again. I'll be just a minute, okay?
Gabi: Oh, my God. This is Will's baby, not Nick's.
Sami: Gabi's fine.
Nick: Well, then why is she still here?
Sami: Well, it's a hospital. These things take time. Do you have to go somewhere?
Nick: No, it's just, uh, some errands for Eddie at the pub. But it can wait.
Sami: I think you should do it. I think you should go help Eddie.
Nick: What do you mean? Gabi's, like--
Sami: She's in good hands. You know, she's got people looking out for her here. I'm here--she'll be fine. My grandma's really counting on you at the pub.
Nick: Okay. You'll stay with her?
Sami: Yes, I will stay. And I will make sure that Gabi texts you as soon as she's ready to leave here--how about that?
Nick: Okay. Please do that. And let her know, if she needs anything...
Sami: I will. I will make sure she gets in touch with you.
Nick: Okay, thanks, Sami.
Sami: Go on, get out of here.
EJ: So... what's in this for you? I mean, if you're out of Countess Wilhelmina and I'm in as Samantha's boss, how does that help your situation with John?
Kristen: [Scoffs] Why are you so certain this is about John?
EJ: Because that's the reason you came back to town.
Kristen: Actually, I think I told you my priority is to put the family back together and to make sure each one of you is happy. Heaven help you. I guess that means you need to have Sami in your life. Well, this would put you in her orbit daily in an environment where you'd be able to help her with things that matter to her. Do you have any idea how attractive that is to a woman?
EJ: I don't think Father's going to let me run a company when I'm not even speaking to him.
Kristen: So you speak to him.
EJ: See? [Snaps fingers] There we go. You say it so casually. You say it like it's absolutely nothing.
Kristen: It's not a big deal. He's not around. He's not gonna interfere with you.
EJ: [Chuckling] Right.
Kristen: Here we go again. Look, he just wants a relationship with you, okay? Anything.
EJ: We have a relationship. I like it. It's bitter, and it's estranged.
Kristen: You really like it? Even when you consider everything you stand to gain with Sami, you like it, huh? You can't make nice? One little phone call? Really?
John: You know, Doc, I don't think it's gonna help any to goad Kristen.
Marlena: I know. I played into her hand. All that--that simpering and that false caring--it just makes me sick. I can't believe that you just don't see it.
John: What do you want me to say?
Marlena: Well, I'd like you to say that you're no longer deluding yourself... that you understand everything--everything she has done since she came back to Salem--has been premeditated...
Marlena: All to get to you.
John: Sl--slow down. I thought we agreed to disagree on this. Didn't we just have this conversation?
Marlena: No, I didn't agree. I gave in because I was exasperated. I wasn't getting through to you. But... look at the evidence now. You just saw it. I mean, she's everywhere we go. And she's--she's even Sami's boss.
John: Samantha works for the DiMeras. It shouldn't come as a surprise she has to answer to one.
Marlena: It's a very big-- it's a really big company. And she's put herself in a position where she has direct access to our lives. And that whole business with Smith Island, you being there by yourself and her showing up-- that was a clear manipulation.
John: How? Hope asked us to help out with the cabin, and then what, she-- she called Kristen and told her to show up there?
Marlena: Don't ask me to explain it.
John: No, no, I'm-- no, really, I'm just trying to understand how you think she engineered all this.
Marlena: I don't know.
Marlena: I don't know. Maybe she's having you followed. Wow. John, I wouldn't put that past her. And look what's happening. Look at the way you're talking now.
John: I'm just trying to be logical.
Marlena: No, you're buying into her act.
John: She's not that good. I was there. I saw her face. The last thing she expected was for me to show up at the cabin. Let me tell you something else. For what it's worth, she is genuinely sorry for everything that happened before.
Marlena: She's not genuinely anything. Look what's going on here. You are now defending her to me... to me. Doesn't that give you pause?
John: You know it does.
Marlena: But not enough to alarm you. If anything happens to me or to you or to anybody in our family because of Kristen... that's gonna be on you. I hate this. I've got to go to work.
John: It's gonna be okay.
EJ: You weren't here, Kristen.
Kristen: I realize that. I didn't see what he did to you. However, I can imagine it because I know what he's capable of.
EJ: And yet you're here, in town, shilling for the guy.
Kristen: EJ, did I tell you how shocked I was when I saw him? I mean, I guess in my mind's eye, he never aged. He's not gonna be around forever.
EJ: That is a fact that has made him no more decent or human to anybody.
Kristen: He is the only father that we have. And honestly, I mean, it's not that big of a deal. We're not talking about Sunday dinners. We're talking about a phone call now and again.
EJ: Do you honestly believe that?
Kristen: I know that he saw you walk away and that you can live without him. So anything you do now would be on your terms. Come on. What do you say?
EJ: I'll think about it.
Kristen: Ugh. Okay, well, be quick about it, because I'm stepping aside at Countess W no matter what you do, and this job offer is not gonna be around forever... not to mention you don't know how long a window you have before Rafe and Sami work things out.
EJ: There is no guarantee that is going to happen.
Kristen: The clock is ticking. You need to act now... right now. [Sighs]
Gabi: Did you talk to Nick?
Gabi: What'd you tell him?
Sami: Yes, I told him that you're fine. I told him you'd text him when you're ready to leave the hospital. He went back to work.
Gabi: Thank you.
Sami: Hey, hey.
Gabi: There's something that I need to tell you. Nick isn't--
Sami: Ready for something like this? Of course. I'm sure it's a big surprise. But you know what? He really cares about you. You have to give him a chance. I think he'll step up.
Gabi: He can't--no, no, this is all wrong. This is all wrong.
Sami: What's wrong?
Gabi: This baby-- this baby would be a very big problem.
Sami: Okay, I had the same feelings when I found out that I was pregnant with Will. But look how he turned out. Look what a great person I brought into the world.
Gabi: Oh, my God. No. No, you don't understand. I can't be pregnant. I can't.
Sami: Are you thinking about not having this baby?
Nicole: Yes, I am down to my last resort.
Marlena: This is Dr. Evans.
Nicole: Hi. It's... Nicole Walker. Um, I need your help.
Marlena: Hi, Nicole. Uh... look, I understand your need for a counselor, but because of our history, I simply can't treat you.
Nicole: No kidding.
Marlena: I would be glad to refer someone.
Nicole: Thanks anyway, but I-I...
Marlena: Nicole, listen to me. After what happened with Jennifer and... well, everything that was created with that situation, it sounds to me like it was a cry for help. So you have, right now, a chance to really turn your life around.
Nicole: Look, I'm not crazy.
Marlena: I wasn't saying you're crazy.
Nicole: You know what? Forget it--forget I called. Ugh. God. [Sighs]
[Knock at door]
Kristen: Marlena was so upset. I didn't know what to say.
John: Well, we're not discussing Marlena, so... if that's all...
Kristen: Actually, it's not.
John: Okay. What do you want?
Kristen: I've made such a mess of things. I really want to fix it.
Sonny: Heads up.
Will: Thank you. Nice arm.
Sonny: I'm sorry. This is all I could find.
Will: That's okay. It's fine.
Sonny: Yeah, but I know that you're used to, like... nicer stuff.
Will: "Nicer stuff"?
Sonny: Nicer stuff.
Will: Oh, yeah, I guess. When I was working for EJ, it was all about the nice stuff.
Sonny: It was-- like, the luxury apartment that you had.
Will: Luxury apartment, nice car, expense account.
Sonny: Mm-hmm. Do you miss that stuff?
Will: No, not at all.
Sonny: Yeah, right.
Will: I'm serious. I mean... I don't know, this-- this bed, this apartment... you, these chips. I don't know. Everything I had, I wouldn't-- I wouldn't trade for a minute with you.
Gabi: I don't know what I'm thinking right now.
Sami: Hey, I get that. Believe me, I do. And I shouldn't assume. I mean, it's your choice-- yours and Nick's.
Sami: Well, I mean... I understand you're the woman, and for you, it's different. I mean, a guy can say he's committed, and then seven months later bail out. And you can't. But a father has responsibilities, and... and he has rights. Believe me, I have a color-coded chart that proves it. There's that smile. Gabi, it's okay. You can talk to me.
Gabi: I don't know, I'm-- I'm numb. My mind is just--my mind's blank, okay? I don't want to-- I don't want to see anyone. I don't want to talk to anyone.
Sami: It's okay... and understandable. You have time.
Gabi: No, not much.
Sami: Okay. Well, you have time right now, 'cause I put Rafe off, and Nick went back to work.
Gabi: I can't even look at Nick in the face.
Sami: Gabi, come on. You got to give Nick a chance. Listen to me. Think about it. You have me. You can talk to me about anything anytime. But I really think you should give this baby's father a chance too. I bet you he will handle it way better than you think he will. You're not alone.
Eddie: Where's the fire?
Nick: That's everything on your list. Ten more minutes?
Eddie: Yeah, yeah.
Nick: Where are you, Gabi?
Cameron: Sorry. Where's Ms. Brady?
Gabi: Uh, I told her to go. I just--I needed some time for myself.
Cameron: Here's a referral for a very good Ob-Gyn, if you need it. But you should see someone as soon as possible.
Gabi: Thank you, Dr. Davis. This is all confidential, right? I mean, you're not gonna tell anybody I was here, that you saw me.
Cameron: That's right. Everything's confidential.
Cameron: But... you need to take care of yourself.
Gabi: Yeah, I will. I just don't know what I'm gonna... I just have to take care of this myself.
Cameron: Of course. Good luck, Gabi.
Gabi: Thank you.
Nicole: Oh, God, who else would know if Eric is back? Roman. Yeah, like that's a call I can make. Sami. [Scoffs] She's not at all protective of her twin. God, why are these people in my phone? Oh, my God, you know what? Maybe I am crazy. Just get it together, Nicole. Go shopping or something. Oh, my God. It is him.
EJ: [Sighs] Only for you.
Stefano: Ah, Elvis, what a pleasant surprise.
EJ: Well, I doubt that, on at least one count.
Stefano: Oh? What was that?
EJ: Nothing. Look, I have a proposition for you.
John: Yeah, there's no fixing it, Kristen. As long as you're here, it's never gonna work for Marlena.
Kristen: She's convinced that I'm here for you, right? Nothing's ever gonna change that.
John: Afraid not.
Kristen: Well, I'm sorry I can't help her in that department. But... I might be able to calm her down in another area.
John: Yeah, what's that?
Sami: [Scoffs] This is unbelievable. It has only been three hours. How am I supposed to have 75 emails to respond? Great. Kristen's gonna kill me for going AWOL. Yeah, hi. Um, I'm gonna need a double espresso, please, as quickly as possible. [Gasps] Oh! Oh.
Rafe: Oh. Hey. I'm glad I ran into you. Whoa. You look stressed.
Sami: Thanks. Well, I am--work.
Rafe: Work. Is that all? Hmm? Sami, the message you left me-- something's wrong. Do you want to tell me what it is?
[Knock at door]
Will: Hey, Dad, what's up?
Sonny: [Laughs] That can't be him.
Will: I don't care. Ignore it.
[Pounding on door]
Sonny: Such an insistent knock.
Will: I don't hear anything.
Gabi: Will, it's Gabi. Hey, uh, the manager at the coffeehouse said that you would be here. I really need to talk to you. It's important. ~~
John: Let me process this. You would walk away... from a job running a major corporation?
Kristen: Yeah. If it makes you happy and it makes Marlena feel better that Sami's not working for me, I'm so glad to do it.
John: Is this where I say... "No, no, no, no, Kristen, don't walk away from your job here. I believe that you've changed and everything's fine. Come to dinner?"
Kristen: [Laughs] I'm busy that night.
John: Any night?
Kristen: Exactly. The change is already in process at Countess W. I really don't want to be anybody's problem.
John: That's amazing. Thank you. It means a lot.
Kristen: Thank you.
EJ: So Kristen wants me to take over at Countess Wilhelmina.
Stefano: That would be a great service to the family.
EJ: Well, I'd be doing it for her.
Stefano: As you wish.
EJ: I keep all of my own business interests. And if I believe at any moment that those are being undermined by my working for you, I'm out.
Stefano: [Chuckles] Spoken like a true DiMera. So you and Kristen are getting along well?
Stefano: You know, I am pleased that you could forgive her past mistakes.
EJ: I will send you a full copy of the financials at the end of the year.
Stefano: The audited numbers?
EJ: Yes, the audited numbers.
Stefano: Okay, then. We'll see how things go.
EJ: Okay. Good-bye, Father. Come on, I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. For Samantha, I can do this.
Sami: Look, everything is fine, okay?
Sami: Yes, really. I know I called you, I had a question, but I figured it out for myself.
Rafe: The message sounded urgent. Now you're trying to duck out of here like--
Sami: Like what-- like I'm busy, or like I have a million emails to respond to, or like we don't really hang out anymore?
Rafe: Or like you're not the person that actually called me looking for help.
Sami: Right, well, I won't make that mistake again.
Rafe: No, that's not what I meant.
Sami: Please leave this alone, Rafe.
Rafe: Well, if everything's fine, what's the big deal? No problem. Just.... tell me why it is you called.
Will: Hey! Gabi, what are you doing here?
Gabi: Um, oh, um...
Will: Yeah, sorry. It's not a great time.
Gabi: No, it's not a good time for anything, actually...
Will: What does that-- what-- what--
Gabi: I'm sorry.
Will: No, hey. It's okay. I-I'm sorry. What-- what-- what-- You look like--
Gabi: Like Hell?
Will: N-no, I was gonna say, you look like there's something wrong. Can you tell me? What's going on?
Nicole: It's him. Holy-- it's him. Eric... is it you?
