Sonny: Are you sure?
Will: Very, yeah.
Bo: Hey, Victor. Opening your own door, huh?
Victor: Opening a used-toy store?
Bo: [Chuckles] Uh, you didn't get my message, huh?
Victor: No, we just got home.
Bo: Oh, well, these are for Ciara. I got a feeling--hi.
Maggie: Hi, Bo.
Bo: I got a feeling she's gonna be spending some more time over here.
Victor: Well, that's good news, but, uh, why?
Bo: I'm taking Ma to California. Kay got her into a clinical trial there.
Victor: This is good news, yes?
Bo: Yeah, yeah. It's great news. But I think hope is gonna need a hand, 'cause we've been kind of leaning on ma to help us out with Ciara.
Maggie: Oh, of course.
Victor: How does Caroline feel about all this?
Bo: Well, you know her. She's putting on a brave face, but... I think she's kind of scared.
Victor: Well, obviously, Kayla thinks that this treatment might help.
Bo: Yeah, yeah. It's-- yeah, she does. Uh, she thinks it's a pretty good shot.
Maggie: Hope--um, she said that you don't even have a diagnosis yet.
Bo: No, um, we're thinking maybe early dementia... [Scoffs] I can't even say it-- Alzheimer's.
Maggie: Oh, Bo, I'm so sorry.
Bo: Yeah, me too. But we're gonna stay positive for Ma.
Victor: When are you leaving?
Bo: Today. I mean, later this afternoon.
Caroline: I don't know much about this experimental treatment, but if it can help, by God, I'm gonna take it.
Nick: Well, what are we gonna do without you around here?
Caroline: I'm sure you can manage.
Nick: I'm not so sure about that.
Caroline: [Laughs] Well, then I'll just have to hurry back a little sooner, okay?
Nick: Guess so.
Caroline: Oh, uh, table number two needs a check.
Gabi: Okay. Yeah, I'll take care of that.
Caroline: Okay. And it's my tip.
Gabi: Oh, I mean, that makes me want to cry. And she's still joking around like always.
Nick: Well, if anybody can beat this--
Gabi: Yeah, I sure hope so. She's like family, you know? Oh, my God. I wonder... I wonder if Rafe knows.
Sami: If I had lied to you like that, no matter what, no matter why, I would've been out on my ass, and you would've been judging me for the rest of my life, because you are a sanctimonious hypocrite-- two things that people would never say about me. So you know what, Rafe? Next time you're grieving and you want someone to help you get rid of it with sex, you go find someone else, okay?
Rafe: That's not what I was doing.
Sami: You know what else? I'm not finished. You gonna let me finish?
Rafe: Okay. Finish, please.
Sami: I don't forgive you. I'm done. We're done.
Marlena: So let me get this straight. Kristen blows into town, makes veiled threats, but she bats her eyelashes and says she's changed, and--
John: Doc, calm--
Marlena: Please don't try telling me to calm down. Don't you do it. I've been looking over my shoulder, wondering where she might pop up next, and where does she pop up? Right next to you.
John: Sweetheart, if there were anything to worry about, I would've told you, but there--
Marlena: You know what? I'm worried. And now you're keeping secrets from me.
John: I'm not keeping any--
Sami: Excuse me. I'm so sorry. I hate to interrupt.
Marlena: Oh, Sami, I'm sorry. I got your call. You saw Kristen.
Sami: Yeah. But I have some bad news.
Marlena: What did she do to you? Now how do we stop her from bothering our family?
Sami: [Sighs] Look, Mom, this isn't about Kristen.
Marlena: It's not? You were so upset when you called, and you said she came to your apartment and she was... a total bitch.
Sami: Yeah. That's my word, not hers.
Marlena: What did she do, honey?
Sami: Um, Stefano demoted me at Countess W, so now Kristen is in charge, which means she's my boss.
Marlena: Oh, no. Sami, you've got to leave the job. You--you--you-- if you need the money, we will support you.
Sami: No, no, Mom. Mom, Mom. I'm not even worried about that right now, okay?
John: So what are you worried about? Is it Rafe?
Sami: Rafe? Why would I want to talk about him? [Sighs]
Gabi: Caroline says she doesn't know how long the treatment's gonna take.
Rafe: Oh. This all seems so sudden.
Gabi: Yeah. Yeah, I know. I mean, I saw a few signs, but I never thought--
Rafe: Sami knows about this, right?
Sami: Mom, do you think this treatment has any chance of working?
Marlena: Honey, Kayla wouldn't have put her in the trials unless she was hopeful. When are they going to California?
Sami: Today. And, um, you know, it's hard for her--everyone coming to say good-bye and good luck.
Marlena: Caroline must be completely overwhelmed.
Sami: Yeah. It's been tough for her with so many people stopping by.
John: Well, we'll check in with--with Bo, see what we can do.
John: Yeah, well, thanks for telling us about it.
Marlena: And we'll be there for whatever you might need too.
Sami: Thank you.
Marlena: I know--I know how close you are to Grandma. I'm a little worried about you. All this going on, whatever's going on with Rafe and...
Marlena: Now your job and Kristen. Honey, please... take care of yourself.
Sami: I will.
Marlena: Okay. We'll talk soon.
Sami: Can't wait.
Marlena: Mm-hmm. Sweetheart.
Sami: Thanks, Mom.
[Cell phone ringing]
[Knock at door]
Sonny: [Exhales sharply] They'll go away. They'll go away.
[Knock at door]
Lucas: Will! Will, open the door! Come on, I know you're in there. Open the door!
Rafe: I hope you don't mind that I stopped by.
Caroline: [Chuckles] Oh.
Rafe: I just wanted you to know that you are in all our thoughts and prayers.
Caroline: I'm very grateful for that, Rafe. And I'm glad you came by, because I, uh--I wanted to talk to you about something before I left.
Caroline: Yeah. Today has been something of a whirlwind.
Rafe: [Chuckles] Yeah, you think?
Caroline: Yeah, well, look at these cards. They're from Allie and Johnny. Look at that. She put a signature heart over the "I"--the little sweetheart.
Rafe: Oh, yeah.
Caroline: [Clears throat]
Rafe: Oh, wait, wait, wait. Yep, Sydney. I know that scribble-scrabble anywhere.
Caroline: Sami came by a little earlier.
Rafe: Yeah, I figured.
Caroline: She was very upset.
Rafe: Yeah, well... she loves you very much.
Caroline: She was very upset about you.
Rafe: [Sighs] I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I mean, I'm sure this is the last thing that you need to deal with right now, isn't it?
Caroline: The day I stop worrying about my family is the day I'm not here anymore. [Both chuckle] I know, Rafe, that she hurt you very much.
Rafe: And I hurt her.
Caroline: But she loves you. You love her. From where I stand, you know, that's all that matters.
Victor: I should've realized sooner.
Bo: No. Ma put on a good show... until she couldn't.
Maggie: Oh, Bo.
Bo: You know, and once she saw you, she--she knew where she was, who you were, your whole history together. Kay says that, um... her memories of her distant past will be clearest the longest. But hopefully, you know, with this--this treatment, sh-- slow things down or... Kay also says that it's important for Ma to have, uh, familiar people and surroundings. But, you know, with us having to leave Salem to participate in this trial, it's--
Maggie: You're gonna be her anchor in a strange place.
Victor: You're doing an incredible thing for your mother.
Bo: No... not so incredible. Well, you--you think of all the sleepless nights she had when she had no idea where the hell I was.
Bo: Or the clothes she didn't buy because I needed a new bike. I mean... it's the least I can do.
Victor: [Sighs] Well, we'll be glad to do whatever we can, whatever you need.
Victor: But Ciara--she's gonna miss her daddy.
Bo: Not half as much as her daddy's gonna miss her. That will be the difficult part, you know... being away from her and Hope... you guys.
Victor: Vaunted company. I assume brothers and sisters will be relieving you from time to time.
Bo: Nope. No. Just gonna be me and Ma... the two of us.
[Knock at door]
Lucas: Open up, man. The building manager said he saw you go in. I know you're in there.
Will: [Softly] Oh, God. [Normal voice] Uh, one minute. [Softly] Okay, I'm so sorry.
Lucas: What are you doing? What's taking so long?
Will: One minute, please!
Lucas: Come on.
[Knock at door]
Will: What is-- what the Hell is going on?
Lucas: Your, uh--your shirt is unbuttoned.
Will: Never mind my shirt. What are you doing here? Why are you--I mean, how did you even know where I was?
Lucas: Gabi told me where you were, all right? I have something very important to tell you. Your mom was trying to get a hold of you too, but I guess you were a little too busy to answer your cell phone.
Will: Why? What is going on?
Lucas: You need to get to the pub right away.
Lucas: You need to say good-bye to your great-grandmother, that's why.
Lucas: She's going out of town in a few hours.
Will: I didn't know she was going on a trip.
Lucas: Just-- she'll explain things. I think it's better that way.
Will: Okay, but Sonny and I... we, um, are-- they--they delivered the-- the boxes to the wrong place. They made a mistake, and so I said I would come over and help Sonny get the costumes...
Will: Over to the party at the rectory.
Lucas: It's all right. It's fine. Um, why don't you go, okay? You go. Sonny and I can handle this, right, Sonny? We can do it on our own. It's important that you be there for your grandmother right now. She needs you.
Sonny: Yeah, no, yeah. We'll--we'll handle it.
Will: Okay. Thanks.
Lucas: That's what took you so long to answer the door-- because you guys were busy? Busy with these costumes, is that it?
Sonny: I mean, if you really want to know what was going on, Mr. Horton, just ask.
Bo: Kayla's the new chief of staff over at the hospital. Roman's got a police department to run. Kimber, she's opening up this new counseling center in san Diego. And I just quit my job. So it's like it's supposed to happen this way.
Victor: Yeah, but that's not the reason you quit the force.
Bo: No. No, it's not. But I can't think of a better place to be than with Ma right now, can you?
Victor: [Sighs] No, no, I can't. You are your mother's son. You know that.
Bo: [Chuckles] No. She's a saint. I'm just doing what needs to be done.
Victor: Well, you may not be a saint, but you're the best man I know. Godspeed, Bo.
Sami: I'm sorry, Ted. I can't answer that. I mean, I don't know what's happening tomorrow, never mind six months from now. I might not even be with the company then. Well, you'll have to ask Kristen DiMera about that. Yes, I will have a better idea of what's going on tomorrow. I-- it'll be decided... one way or the other. Okay, bye. Let's hear it. What do you have to say?
Rafe: It's complicated. And it's so messed up. Not for EJ, of course. He got exactly what he wanted.
Sami: How about we not bring EJ into this, okay?
Rafe: Oh, I don't want to bring him into this, obviously, but he is a huge part of this-- the way that he told you that I wasn't the baby's father.
Sami: Well, somebody had to.
Rafe: He enjoyed it. He enjoyed watching you be hurt that way, which I would have never wanted. Trust me, I never wanted to hurt you, Sami.
Rafe: Sami. I've been looking for you.
Sami: Well, you found me.
Bo: Oh, hey, Billie.
Billie: Hey. Oh, I'm so glad I got to see you before you left. I talked to Chelsea earlier today.
Bo: Yeah, well, I'm just... picking up some of the comforts of home to bring along. Ma can't start her day without a cup of this joe.
Billie: Caroline Brady--she is always a woman of great taste.
Bo: Ain't that the truth?
Billie: Yep. Chelsea wanted to be here to say good-bye.
Bo: Ah! This is not good-bye. Ma will be coming home.
Billie: I know. I know. And she is so lucky to have you along for the journey.
Bo: Nah, I'm the lucky one.
Billie: Oh, you don't have to do that.
Bo: What's that?
Billie: Act like your heart's not breaking. Come on, it's me.
Bo: Ah, I'm fine, really. I am. I mean, I'm fortunate that I get to do this with Ma. She's got the best treatment in the world. What more can I ask for?
Billie: I could ask for a little bit more.
Bo: What's that?
Billie: That you take really good care of yourself.
Bo: I will do exactly that.
Billie: Okay. Oh. Safe travels.
Marlena: Hey, Bo.
Bo: Oh, hey.
Marlena: Caroline said we might find you here. Our thoughts are with you... every single day.
Marlena: [Exhales deeply]
Caroline: Don't you dare say that you're sorry. [Clears throat]
Will: I'm gonna miss you like crazy.
Caroline: Back at you. Will, I'd like to see you with a smile on your face.
Caroline: No. [Laughs] A real smile, okay? Didn't I teach you what my mother said? Count your blessings, not your crosses... your joys, not your woes.
Will: Yeah. Definitely. What kind of blessing you gonna find in this? Can't wait to hear that.
Caroline: I have a family that loves me, supports me, and is praying for me.
Will: Oh, yeah, definitely.
Caroline: Right. So where there's faith, there's hope. You hear me?
Will: Yeah, whatever you say. I mean, you're the boss.
Caroline: Ahh. [Chuckles] Yeah. Well, I have one more blessing I must count.
Will: Right, that you're the boss.
Caroline: No. William Horton, you.
Caroline: Yeah. I must say, I haven't seen you this happy for a very long time. Does a body good... mine and yours. So keep it up, will you?
Sonny: You know, sure, I mean, I'll tell you everything that happened before you started pounding on my door. But you might just want to take a minute and ask yourself... do you really want to hear it?
Lucas: Don't do that, man. Don't psychoanalyze me like that.
Sonny: Well, then don't show up at my doorstep unannounced.
Lucas: I was looking for my son. I had something important to tell him.
Sonny: Okay, was it important to make him feel like he's two years old... or that he did something wrong by not being at your beck and call... or, god forbid, him being at my apartment?
Lucas: You know what? You've known will, what, a minute and a half at the most? And all of the sudden, you're-- you're what?
Sonny: We're what? What are we? What?
Lucas: I don't know. I thought you were taking it slow. Whatever happened to that? And already, here you are. The bed's all messed up.
Sonny: Here I am what? Here I am what? What?
Lucas: He is having trouble, all right? He's struggling to accept who he is.
Sonny: Well, I can't imagine why.
Lucas: Don't do that. You know what? This isn't about me. This isn't my fault. I told you--I told you guys from the very beginning I was okay with it. I have no problem with you guys going out.
Lucas: He's not ready for this, Sonny.
Sonny: No, you know what I think? I think you're not ready for this, okay? You're okay with him being gay, as long as he doesn't do anything about it.
Lucas: What does that mean? I want my son to be happy. That's all.
Sonny: I know, but you think we're moving too fast?
Lucas: Yeah, I do.
Sonny: I've known your son for, what, a little over a year? Okay, have you ever moved faster than that, Mr. Horton? Let me ask you a question. What if I was a girl? Would you still be concerned I was taking advantage of your son? Or would you pat him on the back and say, "atta boy"?
Sami: I don't want to do this right now.
Rafe: You don't want to do what right now?
Sami: I don't want to hear you tell me that you're sorry for hurting me.
Rafe: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Listen to me. That's not what I wanted to tell you. All right? I heard about your grandma. I just wanted to say that I'm gonna miss her. We're all gonna miss her... especially the kids. Remember how they always used to love her s'mores sleepovers?
Sami: Yeah, I do.
Sami: She was the only stable person in their lives.
Rafe: And yours. You know, as scared as she is right now, you know what she said to me? She's worried about you.
Sami: She said that to you?
Rafe: Yeah. Me too.
Marlena: I just can't believe I had no idea.
Bo: You're a psychiatrist, not a psychic. Ma did a pretty good job of hiding this from everybody.
John: Caroline is the only woman I ever remember calling Mom. I wonder what it feels like when your mind's a blank slate... helpless, not a damn thing you can do about it.
Bo: You know, the two of you walk in the pub looking like that, Ma's gonna cut off your account.
John: So when does she get back?
Bo: We're not exactly sure, but you know her. She'll be back at it as soon as she can.
Marlena: I believe it. She has a lot going for her. She's active, and she's in very good health.
Bo: And she's stubborn. Wonder if that's where I got it.
Marlena: You are such a good gift to her on this journey.
John: That is a fact.
[Cell phone ringing]
Marlena: Yep, that's it. I'm sorry. Uh, excuse me. That's my phone.
Bo: It's all right.
Marlena: Dr. Evans.
John: You know, kid, I'm glad you can be there for Caroline. If there's anything Doc and I can do...
John:: It wasn't the reason you left the force, though, was it?
Bo: No. But it cemented for me that I made the right choice.
John: They're gonna miss ya.
Bo: Oh, yeah. They'll figure out a way to survive, I'm sure.
John: You told me you were restless for quite a while. I think I know why.
Gabi: You okay?
Will: Oh, yeah, definitely. I just, um...[Sniffles] I just thought that--I mean, I just feel bad because she kind of went through it, and I missed it, so...
Gabi: I know. Look, will, trust me. I work with her every day, and I know she forgets a few things, but, I mean, she always--she's always in control. Even when your Uncle Bo was really worried, I-I thought she was fine. I didn't think this was so serious.
Nick: Let's just pray that the treatment works.
Will: Yeah. So I'm gonna just take a walk. Yeah, uh, you know...
Nick: Yeah. Take care, will.
Gabi: Hey, look, if you-- if you need to talk, just text me. I'm here.
Will: Okay. Thank you.
Nick: See you later, will. I owe Mrs. Brady so much, you know? I needed a job. I needed a-a friend. I needed a chance, and she was-- she was all that and more. I mean, think about it. If I hadn't started working here, I never would've found you.
Billie: Hey, guys.
Billie: Hey, how you doing?
Nick: [Chuckles] Fine.
Gabi: Can I get you a table?
Billie: Actually, no. I just came to give this to Nick.
Nick: What is it?
Billie: Open it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Lucas: You know what? This isn't--this isn't about whether will was with a guy or a girl. It has nothing to do with it.
Sonny: It doesn't?
Lucas: No, it doesn't. You know, when my son was little, he used to sit on the side of the pool. He used to put his big toe in. That's it. It used to take him an hour before he'd put his whole foot in the water. He doesn't do anything-- he doesn't jump into anything headfirst. And you've known him for, what, a year? About six months ago, he was gonna move in with Gabi Hernandez.
Sonny: He was pretending to be someone he wasn't.
Lucas: That's right. That's right. He was confused.
Sonny: Well, he's not confused anymore.
Lucas: I like you, Sonny. I do, but...
Sonny: But what-- we're moving too fast? You trying to say I'm a bad influence on him?
Lucas: Well, you said it, not me.
Sonny: And you said that you want to make him happy.
Lucas: I do want to make him happy. Of course.
Sonny: Well, how do you think you made him feel today?
Lucas: Don't do that. You don't know my son better than I do. My son and I have a great relationship now. And I'm never gonna let you or anybody else get in between that.
Sonny: I won't. But look, I'm gonna get these boxes later. Thank you for offering to help me. Um, but I have somewhere else I need to be, so... if you wouldn't mind.
Lucas: All right. [Clears throat] Remember what I said, all right? I meant it.
Sonny: I meant what I said too. And trust me, no one's gonna come between you and Will... except you. [Sighs]
Nick: I don't like surprises.
Billie: Oh, well, it's not a total surprise. It's a job offer. You might not know I work for my mom now.
Nick: Well, I-I saw Kate the other day. Did she think that I'd be more open to it if it came from you?
Billie: No. I think she believed that you'd be more open to it because you'd see the terms in black and white.
Billie: Yeah, so I'll leave you alone. Think about it, and my mom and I look forward to your response.
Nick: It was good to see you, Billie.
Billie: I hope it all works out.
Gabi: So are you gonna open it?
Gabi: That's--that's a lot more than you'd get for washing dishes. That's for sure.
Gabi: So you gonna take it?
Nick: I don't know. I don't--I don't trust Kate DiMera.
Gabi: Who does? I mean, she was great with me when I worked for her. What about Billie?
Nick: What about her?
Gabi: I don't know. I just got the feeling like you guys knew each other.
Gabi: Oh, okay.
Nick: What, are you-- are you jealous?
Gabi: Should I be jealous?
Nick: No. Definitely not. Come here.
Bo: So you heard about the budget cuts at the department.
John: Oh, yeah. And I'm sure that gave you just the push you needed to quit. Come on, man. I've been fighting DiMera my whole adult life. I get it.
Bo: Yeah. Got tired of banging my head against the wall.
John: Yeah, we all are.
Bo: You know, this last time, I thought we had him. What is it they say-- "death finally comes to all of us"?
John: Even Stefano.
Bo: Yeah, I'm beginning to wonder that. But now Ma.
John: Yeah. Life isn't fair, but I'll tell you what. I would rather have Caroline Brady's life than Stefano DiMera's.
Bo: Ain't that the truth? I mean, she always said her "Hail Marys" every day... no meat on Fridays, give to the poor box, always did everything she should. Me--I've always thought the rules were for somebody else.
John: Weren't they?
Bo: [Laughs] Until I got to the department and watched DiMera run circles around me. But no more.
John: So you're not giving up.
Bo: Hell, no. But right now Ma comes first.
John: Hmm. But when you return? Right. Well, whatever you decide, just know... I got your back.
Sami: I was just talking to her. And to hear my grandma tell it, she's going to some spa in San Francisco, and she'll come back refreshed and maybe as good as new, and... and I just know that's not true. I mean, what if she doesn't? What if she comes back, and she doesn't remember? What if she doesn't come back at all? She would hate to hear me talking like this. But I can't help it. My Uncle Bo said that there really isn't even a cure for Alzheimer's, if that's what she has... and that this clinic-- that they can help delay the symptoms, but they can't prevent it. I mean, eventually, she's gonna forget. Eventually, she's gonna-- eventually, she's just gonna end up a stranger, and--
Rafe: No, no, no, no. She will never be a stranger.
Sami: She's the only person in my life who never gave up on me.
Rafe: Sami... she's not the only person.
Marlena: I'm sorry we kept you so long.
Bo: Hey. [Chuckles] No. I'm glad you tracked me down. And I appreciate everything you said.
John: Good luck, brother... with everything.
Bo: Thanks. It's good to know when you have a rough patch that you've got people you can count on. I'm out of here.
John: It'll be okay.
Marlena: Yeah. Uh, uh, I want to talk to Kayla about the treatment.
John: You know, regardless of what the science says... I believe in miracles because of Caroline Brady... and you. Look, I got to run. I'm late for a meeting. I know you're still upset.
Marlena: I want to talk to you about what happened earlier. I want you to know how I feel.
John: I do. I understand. And I take the situation of Kristen very seriously, as seriously as you do.
Marlena: That's good.
John: I love you.
Marlena: I love you.
John: See you soon.
Billie: I gave him the letter, Mom. Well, I don't know. Well, we're j-- we're gonna have to wait and see. Okay, I'll let you know. All right, love you. Bye. Hey, Lucas.
Billie: How are you?
Lucas: Good. How you doing?
Billie: You okay?
Lucas: Yeah, I'm fine. I just got back from Sonny Kiriakis' place.
Lucas: And Will was there. That's "and." And if I didn't show up when I did...
Billie: Oh. Oh. I thought you said they were meant for each other or really good together or something.
Lucas: Yeah, I-I know. I know what I said, but I was wrong. He's using Will. He's using Will, and I'm not gonna let Sonny Kiriakis get away with it.
Will: So, when she was telling me--I don't know. I just--it didn't register. I-I couldn't believe it. And I didn't know what to say, because usually she is the one that's strong for me.
Sonny: Do you know that she comes into my place every morning for a cup of Kona coffee?
Sonny: Mm-hmm. She said it's our little secret. That's what she used to tell me. And she probably was my favorite customer... well, you know, besides you.
Will: I just know I could never be that together if life threw something like that at me.
Sonny: Life has thrown plenty at you. Look where you are now.
Will: Yeah, look where I am.
Will: I'm sorry about my dad.
Sonny: It's like I said, man. It's not your fault.
Will: I wasn't thinking, or otherwise I never would have left him alone with you. Do I want to know what happened?
Sonny: I mean, nothing happened. Everything's cool. But why don't you tell me about this place that your great-grandmother's going to?
Sami: How could you even say that? You did give up on me. You didn't trust me.
Rafe: No, no, no, Sami, I--
Sami: I can't even look at you right now. It just hurts so damn much.
Rafe: I'm sorry. [Sighs] I'm so sorry.
Sami: I don't want to hear you say you're sorry anymore. I want you to explain it to me. I want to know how you can say you love me and then do something like that that hurt me so much. I loved you.
Rafe: I do love you. I loved you more than anyone or anything in this whole world. I love you.
