Rafe: Oh! I'm early. Sorry. Well, don't worry about me. Go ahead. Finish getting ready.

Sami: You are such a jerk. I look good and you know it.

Rafe: You look...better than good. You...look great. Here.

Sami: Thank you.

Rafe: Yeah. Well, this is--this is-- this is nice. I mean, knocking on your door, bringing you flowers... going on a date.

Sami: Yeah, we really didn't do that very much, did we? We were stuck in a safe house together, fighting all the time.

Rafe: Yeah.

Sami: But that was fun too.

Rafe: Yeah. The only problem with tonight is, um--

Sami: Yeah?

Rafe: Well, the way you look right now, I'm just not sure that I can trust myself to be a gentleman.

Sami: If you could trust yourself... I spent too much money on this dress.

Rafe: Oh, my god. I cannot wait to spend tonight with you. The whole night.

[Door opens]

[Door shuts]

Caroline: You don't have to do everything for me, Shawn! You're acting like I don't have a brain in my head!

Bo: Ma, stop! You're gonna cut yourself.

Caroline: Will you just leave me alone!

Bo: Stop, stop!

Caroline: Leave me alone!

Bo: Ma, look at me! Look at me!

Caroline: Bo.

Bo: Yeah, ma.

Caroline: It's you.

Bo: Yeah, it's me. Come here, come here. I got ya.

Caroline: Oh, my. Bo.

Bo: It's okay. Here, sit down.

Caroline: I'm scared.

Bo: Sit down, sit down. Sit down. It's okay.

Caroline: I thought you were Shawn.

Bo: I know, I know. It's gonna be okay, it's gonna be okay.

Caroline: I'm scared.

Bo: Shh, shh, shh, shh.

Caroline: Bo, I'm so scared.

Bo: Shh. It's all right, ma. It's all right.

Brady: I know that Nicole can push buttons really easily. She's good at that.

Jennifer: Push buttons? Is that what you call what she does? Push buttons?

Brady: Listen, I talked to Daniel, like you asked me to, and you know what he said? He said, "Brady, everything's fine." There's nothing to worry about.

Jennifer: Oh, really? Well, I sure hope that Daniel is lying because I would really hate to believe that he is that screwed up to think that everything is fine...

Brady: Jen. Jen.

Jennifer: Because it is not!

Brady: Jen... calm down.

Jennifer: Why do you keep saying that to me? I am fine, and you are wrong. Nicole is not pushing my buttons. She moved into my home to control me and to manipulate me and to use my grief to get her own way and to get her agenda. Do you understand that?

Brady: Yes, I do, and you know what? She's gone. She's gone. She's out, right? So let Daniel handle it the way he wants to handle it.

Jennifer: No. No. Because he saved my life, and I am going to repay him for that, no matter what it takes.

Nicole: Daniel, did you hear what I said? We need to leave for Utah right now!

Daniel: Nicole, we can't. You know that. It would take at least a week--

Nicole: We don't have a week! Look, we need to leave Salem right now.

Daniel: Okay. Can you just calm down? Because I don't understand. What--what? What happened? Why--why the rush, huh?

Brady: You're still in love with Jennifer, aren't you?

Daniel: It would be a lot simpler if I wasn't.

Brady: Daniel, you're gonna need to take a step back from Nicole here.

Daniel: Oh, no, I can't. She has got real-life stuff to deal with, and as long as she and the baby need me... I am in.

Dr. Sedwick: Nicole... your baby is dead.

Nicole: Daniel, I am... so scared that if we don't leave right now I will lose... everything.

Stefano: [Exhaling] My boys. Ah. I'm so glad you came. It's been much, much too long.

Daniel: I don't understand. Did something happen here? Did EJ do something? Did he threaten you?

Nicole: No. No. I'm just scared.

Daniel: I know.

Nicole: I'm really scared.

Daniel: I know you are. I can see that.

Nicole: Daniel, it's just that we need to go. We need to leave right now, because we can't risk EJ ordering another DNA test, and I need you there to adopt this baby.

Daniel: I do, I understand that, but we've already agreed to all of that.

Nicole: I know. I know. It just needs to happen right now.

Daniel: We are going to go. Nicole, we are going to go to Utah, and I am going to adopt that baby, and EJ will be out of the picture. All of that, I promise you, is going to happen. But it won't happen tonight.

Nicole: No, I need it to happen tonight. I need it to happen tonight, Daniel.

Daniel: I can't, okay? Nicole Walker...look at me. If this is--look. If this is gonna work out, we need to calm down. We just need to calm down and everything's gonna be okay. But we gotta make sure... that this thing doesn't come back to haunt us. So let's just slow down. I have to resign from my position at the hospital. It can't look like I'm running away. And more than anything...

Nicole: What?

Daniel: You need to make sure that you get checked out with Dr. Knapp. Have you done that recently?

Nicole: No, it's been a little while.

Daniel: Okay, okay. Well, you need to see her again so we can make sure it's safe to travel this late in the pregnancy.

Nicole: But I have a doctor. I'll be fine.

Daniel: No, that is the bottom line. I'm not going anywhere without Dr. Knapp's okay. After everything you have been through, Nicole, there is no way that I am going to jeopardize this baby's health now.

Nicole: Okay. Okay, okay. You're right. Leaving now, it's... it's not gonna work. Nothing's gonna work now.

Caroline: Hmm. Maybe I should have something stronger.

Bo: That's not a good idea.

Caroline: That's a joke. Can't I make a joke?

Bo: You use jokes to change the subject, and...that's not gonna happen. We need to talk.

Caroline: What is there to talk about? I just made a fool of myself. That's all.

Bo: No, ma. You said you were scared. And I have never in my life heard you say that you were scared. So we need to talk.

Caroline: Well... maybe... I've just been forgetting things. You know, little things here and there, but, you know, this wasn't bad. Well, older people forget things, don't they? I mean, it's normal, isn't it?

Bo: Yeah, ma. But this--it's--it's... more than forgetting.

Caroline: I don't know what you mean.

Bo: Ma, you just-- you thought I was pop. Has anything like that happened before?

Caroline: Look, I'm not complaining, but when Kayla left and went back to the hospital, this place has become pretty stressful! And I'm--I'm a little overwhelmed! I'm just overwhelmed. I mean, that makes sense, don't you think? Huh?

Brady: Bup, bup, bup--

Jennifer: Brady!

Brady: Sorry.

Jennifer: Don't you have to go or something?

Brady: Are you trying to get rid of me or something?

Jennifer: Yeah, I am.

Brady: Well, I'm not gonna let that happen right now, because I don't want you to be alone, because I happen to be worried about you right now.

Jennifer: For no good reason. And I will be fine once I take care of Nicole.

Brady: How do you intend to do that?

Jennifer: With the candlestick in the conservatory. Will you stop looking at me like I am crazy?

Brady: I am looking at you like you're getting way too worked up about this. You are way too focused on Nicole, okay?

Jennifer: You know what? Someone has to be. Would you like to talk about what she's dragged you through in your life? Daniel has so much more to lose. He could lose everything, Brady.

Brady: Well, Daniel doesn't think so.

Jennifer: Really? Well, you're wrong. This is serious. Trust me. And he, like all the other male lemmings before him, cannot see what is right in front of his eyes.

Brady: I'm gonna ask you a question. Are you sure this isn't just personal on your part? That you're not just angry at Nicole?

Jennifer: [Laughs] Yes. That's what it is, Brady. I'm just a silly old woman... and my man's been taken away, yes.

Brady: I-I didn't-- I didn't mean it like that.

Jennifer: It sounds like what you just said.

Brady: That's not-- listen. Listen. Hey, look at me. I actually think it's great that you wanna help Daniel, and that you wanna keep him from getting hurt by Nicole. But the problem is, Jennifer, it's not your place. [Stammers] It's not your role. If she's being manipulative like you say, and she's using him, well, that's something he has to work out on his own. I'm telling you this because I know from experience. I was one of those male lemmings that you referred to, okay?

Jennifer: Yeah. Yeah, you're right. I guess it's just really hard for me to see a good, decent man like Daniel be so blind to her.

Brady: Mm. Well, maybe he's not blind, and maybe... he's just working things out the way that he needs to. Maybe you should just butt out a little bit. I mean that in the nicest way. Can you just promise me you'll just butt out a little?

Jennifer: Mm-hmm, yeah. So...will you go now? Because this conversation's giving me a really bad headache.

Brady: I am going to call you very soon.

Jennifer: Oh, you're going to check up on me very soon?

Brady: You're darn right. That's exactly what I'm gonna do.

Jennifer: Yep. I promise you one thing, Brady. I am gonna make sure that Daniel does not go to jail or stop being a doctor over a viper like Nicole.

Daniel: All right, will you get some rest? Things are going to work out. I promise you. 'Cause I'm gonna make sure nothing happens to you or that little...dude in there, okay?

Nicole: Yeah, you--you have to get going.

Daniel: I do. But I was thinking, you know, to get things moving, why don't you reschedule your appointment with Dr. Knapp? We'll move this up, and we'll make sure that you're good to go, and then...we'll go. Sooner than we planned.

[Door opens]

Nicole: Daniel.

Daniel: Hmm?

Nicole: You are one hell of a man.

Daniel: Yeah, I bet you say that to all the guys. [Laughter] All right, I'll call you, um, when I'm on my way home.

Nicole: Okay.

[Door shuts]

Nicole: [Sighs] Ooh. Oh, god, it's over. It's all over.

Sami: Okay, so there's no need for small talk. [Laughs nervously] Uh, don't let us keep you. I'm sure you're very busy.

EJ: Actually, no, I have plenty of time on my hands. I do have some rather bad news for you, though. I'm going to be moving out.

Rafe: Throwing in the towel, huh? That's so soon for you. Usually you're so slow to take a hint.

EJ: Oh, I'm not throwing in the towel. I'm just moving on to better things.

Rafe: Whatever.

EJ: I think it's pretty clear that Samantha here is not worth the trouble.

Rafe: [Scoffs]

Sami: Or just that the better man won.

[Cell phone rings]

Sami: Oh, I should take that. Excuse me. [Sighs] Rafe, why don't you come inside? Get out of the cold hallway.

Rafe: You know, actually, I think I'm gonna have a little talk with your soon-to-be ex-neighbor.

Sami: Um, all right. Well, you boys be nice. [Laughs] But if you fight, don't get any blood on your nice white shirt, okay?

Rafe: Don't you worry about that. I don't want to fight... again. But there is something that I do want to make abundantly clear.

EJ: Is that the fact that, despite my personal history with Samantha, she still seems to be leading you around by your nose?

Rafe: Sami and I are back together again. And no matter what kind of charade you try and pull... nothing is gonna tear us apart. I've won. And you've lost. For good.

Bo: You're right, ma. You have been working too hard.

Caroline: Yes. That's it.

Bo: Yeah. So I think it's a good idea if you, um, take some time off.

Caroline: No.

Bo: Hmm. So how do you really feel about my idea?

Caroline: Well, maybe I could slow down, but telling me not to work? I mean, this is my pub. This is who I am.

Bo: No, ma, it's a pub. It's not who you are. You are who you are. You're much more important than this whole--

Caroline: I don't want you to say anything against this pub.

Bo: No, ma, that's not what I--

Caroline: Shawn and I built this from the ground up. And I don't want anybody, even you, to take it away from me.

Bo: I'm not going to take anything away from you.

Caroline: Look, I've seen what happens when people don't work, when they don't have a purpose, and that's not gonna happen to me.

Bo: How many times in my life have you told me not to get ahead of myself? Right now, you are getting way ahead of yourself.

Bo: I'm just saying this is a good time to, you know, take a break from the daily grind.

Caroline: It is not a grind.

Bo: And I-I think it might be a very good time to go talk to Kayla.

Caroline: Kayla?

Bo: Yeah, as a doctor. See if everything's okay.

Caroline: [Scoffs] No. No! I absolutely refuse!

Bo: [Sighs]

[Computer keys clicking]

Daniel: [Sighs] Kayla. Hey, I was wondering if I could, uh, talk to you about something.

Kayla: Sure. What's up?

[Cell phone rings]

Daniel: Hold on a second. Sorry. Victor.

Victor: Oh, I'm glad I got through to you. Listen, I've got this damn high fever, and I can't seem to hold anything down. You think you could stop by?

Daniel: I'll be right there. Yeah. Uh, sorry. House calls.

Kayla: Ah.

Daniel: I'll catch up with you later.

Kayla: Okay.

Daniel: Could you take that? Thanks.

Kayla: [Groans]

Daniel: [Sighs]

Rafe: No, no, no. I'm not through.

EJ: You never are through.

Rafe: You know, using my sister's problems to keep me away from Sami, that was low. Even for you. If you pull a stunt like that again, you use my sister, and I will rip you limb from limb-- literally. I mean it.

EJ: Yeah, you always mean it, don't you? You just never carry through.

Rafe: Yeah? You mess with my family again, you'll see my follow-through.

EJ: You talk a big game about family, my friend, and yet you try and take me away from mine.

Rafe: Oh, yeah?

EJ: You can have her if you want her, but you don't take my child from me! And I promise you that.

Rafe: You stay away from Nicole. Stay away from her.

Nicole: I have to do this. I have to. Hi, Dr. Knapp.

[Phone ringing]

Nicole: Um, this is Nicole Walker. I need to see you. I, uh...

[Phone continues ringing]

Nicole: I need to make arrangements...

Daniel: This is Dr. Jonas. Leave a message at the beep.

Jennifer: Daniel, it's me, Jennifer. I left a message on your cell too. Listen, I-I can't leave things the way we did. You mean too much to me. Can you meet me at the town square as soon as you can, please? I'll be waiting for you.

Nicole: [Grunts savagely] [Sighs] Damn her. Damn her to hell!

[Eerie music]

Nicole: [Sighs]

Bo: Ma, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you.

Caroline: Kayla. I can't believe you even said that.

Bo: Do you want to see somebody else?

Caroline: I know what you're doing.

Bo: I'm just trying to make sure you're okay.

Caroline: I will not be treated this way. I won't.

Bo: You should see a doctor, make sure there isn't a medical reason for what's happening.

Caroline: I walked two miles this morning.

Bo: Ma, ju--hold on, wait.

Caroline: Wh--

Bo: W-where are you going?

Caroline: I am going home! And I don't want you to follow me!

Bo: Ma, ma, stop. St--wait. Just take a look around. Look...look at where you're at.

Caroline: [Gasps] Oh, dear god. Oh!

[Rock music playing]

Sami: Why aren't you laughing?

Rafe: No. I'm not laughing because I am mad at myself. I mean, here you are. Look at you. And we're in a coffee shop.

Both: You know what?

Rafe: No, no. I can do better than this. I'm gonna search restaurants in a 20-mile radius.

Sami: No, no! Stop, stop! No, it's great.

Rafe: Yes, I am.

Sami: Look at this place. I mean, there's, you know, a table we can sit at, and they make great sandwiches.

Rafe: Oh, yeah, and the wine list is killer. I can do better.

Sami: I know you can.

Rafe: I can.

Sami: But I don't want you to do better. Stop it. Let's say we do drive 20 miles to a restaurant.

Rafe: Yeah.

Sami: Well, you know what that means--we'd have to drive 20 miles back. And that would cut into the time when we could, um, be alone. Capisce?

Rafe: I love sandwiches. I mean, I want a freaking sandwich.

Both: Yeah.

Rafe: Okay. To go.

Sami: You know what? You are a very complicated, urbane kind of man.

Rafe: And you are... amazing. [Kisses] Let me get the menus, okay?

Sami: I am going to save us a seat. [Laughs nervously]

Stefano: Yes, well, keep me posted. Right.

[Hangs up phone]

Stefano: [Sighs deeply] Nothing has changed. Elvis and Chad are still on the outs. And, naturally, they are not gonna talk to me right now. My wonderful, beautiful family is coming apart, and I am not going to have it. That's the reason why I called on you. Because I feel that you are the only one that can save us.

Bo: It's okay, ma. It's gonna be okay. I'm here.

Caroline: No, Bo, I'm sorry I yelled at you.

Bo: Hey. Wouldn't be a Brady if we didn't yell every now and then.

Caroline: No, no. It was wrong. I'm sorry. Well, maybe we should go see Kayla.

Bo: You're sure you don't want to see somebody else?

Caroline: No, no. This has to stay amongst the three of us.

Bo: Okay, well, she's at the hospital now. Do you want to go now?

Caroline: Okay. The last thing I ever wanted to be was a burden.

Bo: Hey, stop. You're not a burden. You never have been, never will be.

Caroline: Well, let's--let's get this over, shall we?

Bo: Okay, I'll get your stuff.

Caroline: Oh, okay.

[Knock on door]

Bo: Hey.

Kayla: Hey, guys!

Both: Hi.

Kayla: What are you doing here? Come on in.

Bo: Do you have a minute? Huh?

Kayla: Sure, of course. Hey.

Bo: Hey, hey. Ma, you want to sit down?

Caroline: Yes.

Bo: Can I get you some water?

Caroline: No, no, no. Thanks, I don't need any water.

Kayla: What's going on?

Bo: [Clears throat] Well, I stopped by the pub earlier. And, as you know, ma's kind of overworked these days, 'cause--

Caroline: Bo, Bo, Bo. We don't have all night. Uh, there's something wrong with me, and I-- I think it could be serious.

Daniel: Victor! Victor!

[Door slams]

Daniel: Hey, Vic-- you son of a bitch.

Victor: And a very pleasant "good evening" to you as well.

Daniel: I am a doctor. I was at work. I left the hospital. I left real sick patients because you said you were sick.

Maggie: Victor, did I hear the door? Daniel? What are you doing here?

Daniel: I was summoned to your husband's sickbed, but he seems to have made a full and rapid recovery, or he's lying through his teeth.

Victor: Oh, I'd be careful about getting on my high horse about honesty, if I were you. You were in here earlier with some vague crap about what a great godfather I was, and you didn't have the honesty to tell me that we were actually saying good-bye.

Daniel: Yeah, because I knew how you'd react.

Victor: And then you tell your mother you're leaving, and she's not to tell anyone!

Maggie: Daniel, I'm sorry.

Victor: She was crying. I made her tell me what was wrong. Melanie's been gone what, two days? And you pick this time to tell your mother that you're leaving and quitting your job? And she's not to tell anyone?

Daniel: I'm sorry.

Victor: I wasn't lying when I said I was sick. This whole thing makes me want to throw up, because I know what's going on.

Daniel: Oh, you do? You do, huh?

Victor: Every time I see a supposedly intelligent, educated man make a complete idiot of himself, who comes to mind?

Daniel: Oh...

Victor: You're throwing away everything. Your family, your career, your future... for--for a conniving bitch.

Daniel: You call Nicole another name, and I turn around and walk out.

Victor: Oh, so I was right. It is all about Nicole. Isn't it? Ha!

[Doorbell rings]

EJ: Abigail.

Abigail: Hi.

EJ: Would you tell Nicole I would like to see her?

Abigail: She's not here.

EJ: Nicole!

Abigail: Uh, I told you, she's not here.

EJ: Well, I would like to speak to her, and, uh, that's about all there is to it.

Abigail: She's not here. She moved out.

Jennifer: Daniel, call me please. God, where are you? You are so selfish and manipulative, and if you think that is how you're gonna hold onto Daniel, you are wrong.

[Tense music]

Caroline: You--you don't worry when you can't remember where your car keys are. I mean, it's--that's just getting older.

Bo: You okay, ma?

Caroline: Bo, this isn't fun, okay? Uh, but, I mean, it's more than car keys. Sometimes I forget what happened. I can't focus.

Kayla: How long has this been going on?

Caroline: I don't know. A while. And...I'm... well, it's more. I mean, sometimes it's bad. Like tonight, when I was with Bo, I-I forgot where I was... [Stammers] Who I was talking to. I go into the past.

Bo: So what do you think?

Caroline: Oh, you know what she thinks. You know what we all think! You know what is the matter with me.

Daniel: I don't have to explain anything to you. I you, and I'm sorry for being so insensitive.

Maggie: I don't understand why you have to go.

Daniel: [Stammers] It's just, look, it's--

Victor: [Imitates stammer] It's because Nicole wants him to. And you can bet she's got some self-serving reason behind the whole thing. And she doesn't care that [Snaps] that you're quitting your job to follow her to Mozambique or Easter island or wherever the hell she's dragging you off to.

Daniel: Mm. I'm going to Utah. That's, like, a three-hour flight.

Victor: Utah? Why the hell does she want to go to Utah?

Daniel: Maybe you should come. Come visit. You can help out with the baby.

Victor: Oh, maybe Rafe can go along with her. You remember him. He's the father of the baby.

Daniel: [Growls] Oh, my god!

Maggie: Victor, stop it.

Victor: Oh, you're just as upset about this as I am.

Maggie: Yes, I am. But screaming at Daniel is not gonna make him change his mind. And I don't want to be saying good-bye at the top of our voices.

Daniel: I am sorry.

Victor: Yeah, well, not as sorry as you're gonna be. You just wait. Wait until the honeymoon is over. And then that man-eating harlot is going to destroy you the same way she destroys everything else she touches.

Daniel: Mm.

[Cell phone hits ground]

Jennifer: Shoot. [Scoffs] You.

Nicole: Yeah, me.

Jennifer: Nicole, I do not have go a round with you again, okay? Please get-- get out of my way.

Nicole: No. I'm sorry...Jennifer. But it's time we settle things. Once and for all. I've had surgery, and yes, I have occasional constipation.

So... you want me to make peace between you and the rest of the family?

Stefano: I felt that you are the only one that could bring us back together... my beautiful, beautiful daughter.

Rafe: So two sandwiches. [Stammers] What are we waiting for, the bread dough to rise?

Sami: Okay, okay. Why are you so impatient tonight?

Rafe: Why? Well, of course I'm impatient, because I could be home alone with you instead of waiting here for what is obviously [Loud] the impossible task of slapping a piece of meat between two slices of bread. Right? Is that...

Sami: Hey, it's not just...

Rafe: Too hard?

Sami: Any kind of bread. It's artisanal bread. It's not just a sandwich, it's being crafted.

Rafe: Oh, the artisanal, yeah. Maybe we should go.

Sami: No. What do you mean?

Rafe: Yes.

Sami: We can't go. We can't let will find out that we left Sonny's restaurant because of bad service.

Rafe: Well, it is bad service, obviously, and Sonny's not even here.

Sami: Is it really "bad" service? I mean, couldn't you just see it as, like, European. You know, unhurried. Leisurely, even.

Rafe: [Laughs] Oh, god. I have missed you. I have.

Sami: I missed you too. Never thought I'd be sitting at a table with you again... after everything that we have been through.

Rafe: Hey. Forget about the past. Tonight is about...starting over, and I know just the way to do that.

Sami: [Laughs] Oh.

Jennifer: You know what? I am not... about to have another screaming match with you.

Nicole: Don't you walk away from me.

EJ: Where did she go?

Abigail: I don't know. All I know is that she's gone, thank god. So will you please leave?

EJ: When you see her... you will of course tell her that I'm looking for her.

Abigail: Will do.

[Door slams]

EJ: You cannot keep me from my child, Nicole, and you're gonna pay for trying.

Nicole: I am not finished talking to you.

Jennifer: I am finished talking to you. Leave me alone!

Nicole: You want me to leave you alone? You're the one trying to ruin my life.

Jennifer: No, you've managed to do that all on your own. Let go of my arm!

Nicole: You're trying to poison Daniel against me!

Daniel: I know... you both love me. And I'm sorry I hurt you. But my mind is made up. You will not talk me out of this.

Victor: The baby isn't even yours!

Daniel: I said my mind is made up! I am going to Utah with Nicole, and nothing--nothing--is going to change that.

Jennifer: Nicole, this isn't helping anything. Let go of me.

Nicole: Daniel and I are gonna be together, and there's nothing you can do about it!

Jennifer: What is wrong with you? Let go of my arm. Let go of me!

Nicole: Oh, you want me to let go of you?

Jennifer: You're crazy!

Nicole: [Screams]

Jennifer: Nicole!

Brady: Nicole. Nicole?

Nicole: Brady? [Groans]

Brady: Oh, god. Oh, god, the baby.

Nicole: [Whimpers]
