Marlena: I want you to think about what you just said. You've been here nearly four years. You think you haven't changed?

Nick: No. I mean, plenty has changed, Dr. Evans, but it's nothing that I did. It's that these past four years... have changed me.

Melanie: So have you talked to Jennifer since Jack died?

Daniel: No, I've, uh, kept my distance.

Melanie: Sure.

Daniel: Seems like the right thing to do.

Melanie: Of course, right. But you care about her still. What's keeping you from reaching out to her?

Daniel: You know what? This is not about Jen, and it sure as hell is not about me. It is about... you.

Melanie: Mm-hmm.

Daniel: I have let you down.

Melanie: Dad--

Daniel: And that will never happen again. There's nobody more important to me than you. Do you understand that?

Nicole: Daffodils.

EJ: Mm.

Nicole: You never bought me those.

EJ: Well, you preferred red roses, as I recall.

Nicole: Did you know that I used to spend hours in the garden with Sydney, watching the spring flowers bloom? My dear departed mother said that daffodils mean new beginnings. Well, good luck with that, EJ.

Sami: Excuse me, have-- excuse me, I'm looking for EJ DiMera.

[Drawer slams]

Rafe: You got the wrong guy.

Hope: Hey, Theo! Hi, Abe.

Abe: Aw, mwah. I hope we're not too late.

Hope: Good to see you guys.

Abe: Theo could not decide on what to wear. I think he wanted to impress a certain pretty young lady.

Hope: [Laughs]

Ciara: Wait till you see the chocolate cake my Grandma made.

Hope: Delicious. Deliciously gluten-free.

Abe: Ooh.

Ciara: It will give you a great reason to eat your broccoli.

Theo: I like broccoli. Have you ever tried broccolini?

Bo and Hope: Broccolini?

Bo: You know, we're gonna be in a lot of trouble here in a couple of years.

Hope: He likes broccolini. What's your secret?

Abe: You know, Lexie said if he grows it with his own hands, he's gonna think it's delicious.

Bo: Yeah, that's great.

Hope: I'm so glad you guys could make it.

Abe: Oh, thank you.

Hope: I've really missed our family dinners.

Abe: Yeah, I miss 'em too. You know, I was telling Jennifer, um, it is--it's-- it's amazing what you can get through when you know someone's depending on you. Theo will look up at me with those big brown eyes--he has Lexie's eyes and Lexie's smile-- and I know we're gonna make it through.

Bo: You not only can, you will make it through.

Abe: I-- I worry about being at loose ends, you know? No job. [Chuckles] And, uh, what I'm gonna do with my day. But in a way, it's a blessing in disguise. I get to focus all my attention on Theo right now, when he needs me so much.

Bo: Well, in the end, it's all about family.

[Door opens]

Melanie: You didn't let me down, Dad.

Daniel: [Scoffs]

Melanie: Chad didn't know where I was. Nobody really did.

Daniel: Yeah, well, I should have known.

Melanie: Well, no, I mean-- look, you were busy. Saving lives, you know? Look, I'm--I'm-- I'm lucky to be sitting opposite of you. I'm thankful, listening to all of your wonderful fatherly advice, which I will of course probably ignore, as is daughter's prerogative.

Daniel: Yes, of course.

Melanie: But...[Laughs] Abigail's not as lucky. Her dad's not there. She's not gonna be able to hug him or ask him questions...

Daniel: Hey, baby, hey, hey.

Melanie: Or get advice from him, and you know what else?

Daniel: Don't--don't--

Melanie: No. Abigail and Jennifer are really close to Nick, and they're going through so much right now. If I have the chance to bring family there to help them, how am I supposed to say no to that?

Nick: When I got in here, I was still strung out. All I could think about was Melanie. My old life. How things could never get better. But they saw something in me here that I didn't see in myself. They trusted me. They gave me a chance. Thanks to them, I'm a-- I'm a better man than I was when I came in here.

Marlena: Who is that man? Who is Nick Fallon?

EJ: Actually, I had no idea daffodils were supposed to represent a fresh start. I suppose it's rather fitting, though. Have you heard the news?

Nicole: You mean the terrible news that Stefano's not dead?

EJ: No, I mean the wonderful news that I'm innocent.

Nicole: [Chuckles] Oh, EJ. You are a lot of things, but innocent is not one of them.

EJ: You really thought I did it, didn't you?

Nicole: I didn't really think twice about it, but I know you could've. And you would've if you felt it was in your best interest. I know better than anyone what you're capable of. Excuse me.

EJ: You look very healthy.

Nicole: Nice. Is that another way of saying I'm fat?

EJ: [Snickers] It's just--you're a lot further along than you were the last time that I saw you. Nikki, I know I've been somewhat preoccupied with my father's disappearance, but, uh, you should know I haven't forgotten.

Nicole: Forgotten what?

EJ: Oh, I have my own little mystery to solve. We have to determine whether that's my baby or Rafe's.

Sami: You sound angry.

Rafe: Just have work to do.

Sami: You don't like it that I am here to see EJ.

Rafe: [Scoffs] Uh, no, not exactly. Not after everything that he did to us.

Sami: So this is about the past?

Rafe: Listen, I'm not gonna police your love life. But I do have real work to do here. Real work.

Roman: Hey.

Sami: Daddy?

Roman: Hey. Uh, I was gonna call you, but, uh, both of you will be glad to hear this news. All the charges against Will have been dropped.

Sami: Dad, that's amazing. How--how come?

Roman: Well, technically, he was held a couple minutes too long before charges were filed, so the D.A. figured that any conviction would be overturned on appeal. So why waste everybody's time?

Sami: Daddy, you are the best. Thank you. Thank you so much.

Roman: Well, thank you for that, but, uh, don't thank me. Thank Rafe.

[Cell phone rings]

Roman: I gotta take this.

Sami: Well, I-I don't know how to thank you.

Rafe: Glad to do my job. But also glad to help Will.

Sami: Even though you don't approve of what he did.

Rafe: [Scoffs] Well, he's damn lucky that EJ was innocent. I don't think the D.A. would've been so quick to drop the charges. Then there's you, of course.

Sami: I did what I had to do to protect Johnny and Sydney's father from going to prison for a crime he didn't commit.

Rafe: Sure, and if Will would've gone to jail, oh, well?

Sami: [Scoffs] He's an adult, and as much as I hate it, he does get to make his own decisions in life.

Rafe: Well, I guess it all worked out then, didn't it?

Sami: Lucas is still furious with him--with both of us.

Rafe: Can't say I blame him on that.

Sami: Huh. Of course not. It's just hard for Will 'cause he's close to his father.

Rafe: Oh. [Chuckles] So you're telling me you're-- you're available? Back on the market?

Sami: No.

Rafe: Hmm. Well, that's good, 'cause just so we're clear, I did that favor for Will, not for you.

Daniel: Melanie, you have such a big heart, and I admire the hell out of the way you're dealing with all of this. But you were just kidnapped.

Melanie: I don't care. I don't want to be a victim. I don't want to be a victim.

Daniel: I'm not s--

Melanie: No, I'm so--I'm so different now than I was when I first came to Salem. I mean, everything that happened with Nick's made me such a stronger person. I have to make something out of this. I'm not gonna let Andrew win. I'm not gonna live my life in fear.

Nick: Who am I? [Chuckles] Um... I'm a guy who loves his family, you know? That much will--will never change. I, uh--I love to learn. And-- and I'd like a chance to-- to make a difference in the world someday.

Marlena: Go on.

Nick: I mean, I know that I have to take responsibility not just for the past, but for every moment of my life, present and future.

Marlena: You may decline the offer to go before the parole board. Why is that?

Nick: [Sighs]

Marlena: Tell me about your feelings for Melanie Jonas.

Nicole: Are we really having this-- [Quietly] Are we really having this conversation again? There is no question about the paternity of this child, okay? Dr. Jonas said the DNA results are 100% accurate.

EJ: Not at University Hospital, they're not.

Nicole: Oh, my God. You know what? Good-bye. Good-bye, EJ. Have a nice life.

EJ: Nicole. I'm sure I don't need to remind you that I love my children with a vengeance. You lied to me about Sydney. Do I need to remind you about what happened? If you even think about repeating that egregious error... you have no idea what the future is going to hold for you.

Rafe: Is there a problem here? Hmm? You all right?

EJ: Oh, look, it's detective baby-daddy to the rescue.

Rafe: Hmm. You all right? Did he hurt you?

Nicole: No, I'm--I'm fine.

EJ: We were just having a little chat, that's all.

Nicole: Uh, well, it's been real. [Chuckles] So I'll--I'll see you this weekend. We'll go nursery shopping.

Rafe: Oh, yeah, you will. Just give me a call.

Nicole: Okay.

Rafe: All right. Hey, not so fast there, Elvis.

Nicole: Daniel, it--it's me. I ran into EJ. He's out of jail, and he's asking a lot of questions about the baby. And God only knows what would've happened if Rafe didn't show up. Please, please call me back. I'm scared what will happen to you and to me if he finds out the truth.

Melanie: Look, it's not like I wouldn't be relieved if Nick didn't get paroled.

Daniel: But?

[Pager Rings]

Melanie: I just-- you can answer your pager. I'm fine.

Daniel: Really?

Melanie: Yeah, you helped me through some, uh--some things.

Daniel: Did I?

Melanie: No.

Daniel: Baby, come on.

Melanie: Yes. I'm--yes. You did.

Daniel: Come on.

Melanie: You did, okay? You did. I love you.

Daniel: Look, I love you. All right? You take care of yourself. Hear me?

Melanie: Mm-hmm.

Daniel: And I want you to make sure you lock this door.

Melanie: The door, I know. I'll lock it. You're being a helicopter dad. I'll lock it.

Daniel: No, I'm being protective. Get over here and lock this door.

Melanie: Okay, fine. I'm over here. I'm gonna lock the door. I'm locking. I'm locking it.

Hope: How are you doing?

Maggie: Hanging in there.

Hope: I'm really worried about you.

Maggie: I'm fine. It's Melanie who's not.

Hope: Maggie, I know this is really hard for you too. Because you also love Nick very much, and I-- all right, I-I-I-- I'm not trying to influence you in any way, I promise you. Believe me, okay? I just really wish you could see the progress he's made since--

Maggie: I have seen it. Do you really think I haven't been visiting him, Hope?

Hope: No, I know you have.

Maggie: I realize that he is doing very well where he is right now. But life on the outside, it has its own pressures and stresses.

Hope: Yes, I know. Of course it does.

Maggie: And I know better than anyone... once an addict, always an addict. And that's a constant struggle. It's gonna be for him. I want to be there to help him, but you have to understand that Melanie is my granddaughter. And I didn't know that when all this happened. She grew up in terrible circumstances, and I wasn't there to help her... and to love her. So, you see... after everything she's been through all these months, I need to know, Hope-- I need to know that the changes that we both see in Nick are real and lasting.

Nick: Melanie's not the one who got me in here. That's--that's all on me. I mean, she asked the judge for leniency. I-I owe her for that.

Marlena: Is that why you're thinking about canceling the parole hearing? Because you think you owe her?

Nick: I mean, after what she's been through, I can't stand the idea of--of causing her any more pain.

Marlena: You still care about her?

Nick: As a friend. I wish I could undo the past, but I can't. All I can do is--is just try to be the best man that I can be when I get out of here.

Marlena: If you get out of here.

Nick: I'm not trying to be a martyr, if that's what you think. I'm just a guy who did a lot wrong. And now I'm trying to do what's right. Whatever happens will happen.

Sami: [Sighs]

[Phone Rings]

Roman: [Sighs] Where's Rafe?

Sami: He left.

Roman: What are you doing here all by yourself?

Sami: [Sighs] Dad, I don't know.

Roman: Can we talk for a minute?

Sami: Of course.

Roman: [Chuckles] Sami... uh, what were you thinking? You were willing to take a bullet for a--

Sami: Don't say "murderer."

Roman: So you're still defending him?

Sami: Well, he didn't kill Stefano, did he?

Roman: He tried to ruin your life. Look, Rafe is--you went on the run with him. You were willing to make your kids orphans for him.

Sami: Dad, I knew I wasn't gonna get shot. 'Cause I knew the guy holding the gun is not the type to shoot first and ask questions later. I'm glad you're okay.

Roman: [Sighs] So am I. Now can I ask my question?

Sami: Shoot.

Roman: When it comes to men, don't you think you can do better than EJ DiMera?

Rafe: So... you got out on bail. Now what, huh? Back to the business of running this town into the ground?

EJ: [Chuckles] You know, I'd watch what I say if I were you. I'm still your boss.

Rafe: Not if you're in jail.

EJ: Well, uh, why don't we examine that for a second? I'm falsely accused of the murder of a man who is, incidentally, still alive.

Rafe: Mm-hmm.

EJ: I'm charged with fleeing a justice system run amok. If the district attorney does decide to pursue this case, he's going to look like a fool.

Rafe: Yeah. You know what? You may think that you can get away with obstruction of justice, rigging a mayoral election, even kidnapping someone every few months, but you will not bully a pregnant woman. Not on my watch.

EJ: Listen, I absolutely understand you standing up for the mother of your child. I do. Can I ask you a question? Now that Carrie's gone and Samantha's-- well, you must be at a little bit of a loose end. You know, I mean, I understand that you and Nicole are just friends, and you've--you've pledged to raise this child as your own. But there is nothing like Nicole Walker to just drive women away. I don't see a lot of happiness or--or flowers or hearts in your future. Do you? What's it like? Yeah.

Hope: Do you really think that Marlena's going to have a different opinion than the prison psychiatrist? Because they all said the same thing. That Nick is ready.

Maggie: Hmm. I know. But I think I would feel more comfortable hearing it from a dear, trusted friend.

Hope: I understand.

Maggie: Anyway, it may not make any difference in the end. I mean, Nick is talking about canceling his parole hearing.

[Cell phone rings]

Hope: Oh. Oh, I'm sorry, I-- would you excuse me? I have to check this.

Maggie: Sure.

Hope: Hello?

Maggie: [Sighs]

[Door opens and shuts]

Maggie: Marlena.

Marlena: Hi.

Maggie: Well?

Marlena: I'm happy to tell you that I concur with the psychiatrists that have seen Nick. I find him to be a healthy, well-adjusted young man.

Maggie: Whew.

Marlena: The fact that he was willing to cancel his parole hearing tells me a lot about him. He's sensitive to the pain that he's caused Melanie. And he's also willing to pay for his mistakes.

Maggie: Okay.

Marlena: I know it would be a lot easier for you if this were more clear-cut, if I could just say that he should not be paroled. It would make that easier on Melanie too. I know that.

Maggie: Yes, but you're right. I'm just--I'm torn. I want what's best for Nick. I really do.

Marlena: I know you wanted me to put your mind at rest. I'm afraid I've done the opposite.

Maggie: Yeah.

Marlena: Should I talk to Melanie?

Maggie: Yes. Marlena, that would make me feel so much better. I mean, just to know that she's thought this through.

Marlena: Of course.

Maggie: Please don't tell her I asked you to.

Marlena: Well, you didn't ask me to. I actually volunteered.

Maggie: [Laughs] Thank you... so much.

Marlena: I just hope this turns out well for everybody involved.

Nicole: Wow. Poor Melanie.

Daniel: Yeah, I'm trying not to take this overprotective father thing too far. I mean, I know she needs to make up her own mind but yet feel like I support her no matter what.

Nicole: She must feel so lucky to have you. You're an amazing father.

Daniel: Oh, I don't know about that.

Nicole: Yeah, well, I do. Because kids need to be protected. Anything could happen to them. And if someone tried to hurt my baby the way Nick hurt Melanie, you can bet I'd want that person to rot in prison forever.

[Door opens]

Nick: Hey. [Clears throat] I wasn't expecting to see you.

Sami: All right, Daddy, I will answer your question if you let me ask you one first.

Roman: Sure.

Sami: Why were you looking for Rafe?

Roman: Well, I just wanted to let him know that the paperwork came down from on high. He's getting a promotion.

Sami: Really?

Roman: Mm-hmm.

Sami: That's amazing. I'm surprised that EJ went for it.

Roman: Oh, I pushed it through when EJ was on the run. Rafe is one of the best cops I've got.

Sami: Except for the time you had to fire him.

Roman: Well, that stuff with Carrie, that was pretty messy, yeah. But the bottom line is, we're dealing with a corrupt mayor here, and I need all my big guns. And one of those would be Rafe, with his FBI background.

Sami: Daddy, you don't have to sell Rafe to me.

Roman: Okay, then why not Rafe?

Sami: Bec--

Roman: Okay, look. I'm--I'm just trying to understand this. Again, will you please explain to me what the hell you're doing with EJ DiMera?

Sami: I don't know. I mean, I-I can't explain it. It's just--there's something there with EJ, and there always has been, and I've always tried to deny it, and I'm just gonna... see what happens, follow my heart. It's who I am.

Roman: And if your heart leads you into trouble?

Sami: Which it probably will. Then I'm very lucky and grateful that I have family that loves me that'll be there for me when I need them. [Sighs]

Rafe: Hmm. I had no idea you were so interested in my love life. But I'm gonna go ahead and pass on any romantic advice you have to offer. Although I do have some advice for you. Stay away from Nicole.

EJ: Or what?

Rafe: Well, you keep harassing the mother of another man's child, not even you are gonna be able to hold on to the job as mayor of this little burgh, okay? You're gonna lose that just like you've lost everything else that matters in your life.

EJ: Well, if you will excuse me, I have to go and see my two lovely children, Johnny and Sydney. You, uh, remember them? You know, they have the most beautiful mother. If you wouldn't mind just, uh, stepping aside, Rafe.

Nick: Let me guess why you came back.

Hope: Julie just called me. She's very upset that you're thinking of canceling your parole hearing, and so am I.

Nick: Thank you for caring.

Hope: Of course I care.

Nick: Even if I tell you my mind's pretty much made up?

Hope: Nick... everyone has said you're ready to get out. You're no longer a threat to society. [Sighs] What are you so afraid of?

Nick: Hey, maybe I'm not a threat to society, but to Melanie. She's been through hell. If I come out, what is that gonna do to her? Hasn't she suffered enough?

Melanie: So who told you to come? Was it Maggie or my father or Chad?

Marlena: None of the above.

Melanie: Really?

Marlena: Really. I just thought you might want to talk to somebody who was not involved in all this.

Melanie: Yeah. Yeah, actually, I would love to talk to you about Nick.

Daniel: Okay, well, uh, enough about me. I got your message about EJ.

Nicole: Oh.

Nicole: I ran into him at the Town Square. He was so hostile. He really scared me.

Daniel: Scared you how? What--sit down, sit down. What? Are you okay?

Nicole: Yeah, I am... this time. But now that he's been cleared of all the murder charges, he's got one thing on his mind. He wants to know if this kid is his or not. He's gonna find out, Daniel.

Daniel: No, he's not gonna find out. I am gonna help you through this.

Nicole: I know. I know. It's just that I'm worried about you. Because if you get caught, he won't just take my baby from me. He will try to get his revenge on you too.

Daniel: No, that's not gonna happen.

Nicole: How do you know that's not gonna happen? I'm scared to walk around town alone. I'm afraid to go back to my hotel room. Daniel, what am I gonna do?

Daniel: Actually, uh... I think I have an idea.

Rafe: [Sighs]

Bo: Oh, hey, man.

Rafe: Hey.

Bo: Congrats. Uh, Roman told me about the promotion.

Rafe: Yeah.

Bo: I'm not sure you deserve it, but hey, you fooled 'em.

Rafe: Hey, well, thanks. You know, fake it till you make it.

Bo: Yep. [Sighs] I'm thinking Roman was afraid he was gonna lose you to the I.S.A.

Rafe: Oh, yeah?

Bo: Glad you're sticking around. I'm sure if you look around enough, you'll find someone who agrees with me.

[Door opens]

Sami: Hi.

EJ: Hi.

Sami: Hi. Um...[Exhales] I, um--I was looking for you. I went to the police station, and they said that you had been released. I guess you're here to see the kids.

EJ: No, I, uh-- I mean, yes, but, um... first I-I-- uh, I wanted to say thank you.

Sami: Thank you. They're beautiful.

EJ: Daffodils, Samantha, symbolize new beginnings. And, uh--and, you know, yellow's your favorite color, so...

Sami: [Laughs] It is. I didn't know that. Learn something new every day.

[Footsteps approach]

Johnny and Sydney: Daddy!

EJ: Hey!

Sami: Oh--oh, ah! [Laughs]

EJ: Ohh! Hi! Didn't I tell you I'd be back soon? Hmm? Didn't I tell you?

Sami: Sydney, look. Look what daddy got me. Isn't it pretty?

Sydney: Pretty.

EJ: I think... this one has your name on it.

Johnny: Daddy, Daddy! I figured out how to get up to level 13 on "Super-Wave."

EJ: Okay. How did you get past the giant iceberg? Can you show me?

Johnny: I'll show you a trick.

EJ: Okay.

Johnny: You have to explode it like this. Now see?

EJ: Ohh! That is awesome. Gimme a high five. Pow! Good stuff. What's the next level?

Melanie: I can't let myself be treated like a victim, because then I become the victim, right? But I'm scared.

Marlena: Of course you're scared, sweetie.

Melanie: But I'm tough. You know, I've been through so many things. I'm gonna be fine.

Marlena: You are going to be fine.

Melanie: It's just there-- so many people that I love, they love Nick too. Right? So I keep thinking, "what's gonna be worse?" Knowing that Nick is free, or knowing that I'm the one that's keeping him in prison?

Hope: You know, I've been exactly where you are. I did terrible things under the influence of drugs. It was hard to trust that... I could go home to my family... and be well. Whole. But I did.

Nick: Thank God.

Hope: I also know what it's like to be on the inside. All it takes is one bad day to break you, to set back all the progress you've made. 18 months. That's a lot of days, Nick.

Nick: Believe me. I know.

Hope: Instead of wasting them in here, you could be home, making a new life for yourself surrounded by people you love, people who love you... people who need you, Nick.

Rafe: Well, thanks. You know I love my job. It's been great. Made some great friends. A few enemies. But, uh, I guess that comes with the territory now, doesn't it?

Bo: Got that right. Every cop in the precinct is an enemy to the DiMeras.

Rafe: Well, except for the ones that they've got in their pockets.

Bo: Yeah. But for some of us, it's more than just a job. It's personal. It's why I'm glad you're with us. 'Cause I know you're not gonna quit till this job gets done.

EJ: That is very exciting.

Sami: I think that the girls need a turn with the game, and we need to learn how to get past level seven, right?

EJ: Hmm. I'm not so sure.

Johnny: Sorry, guys only.

EJ: Yeah.

Sami: What? That's not fair. Is that fair?

Sydney: No.

Sami: No fair!

Sydney: No fair.

Sami: Yeah.

Caroline: Well, Sydney, do you think it would be fair if I took you for ice cream and left Johnny with his game?

Sami: [Laughs]

Caroline: Hmm?

Sami: Yes.

Sydney: Yeah.

Sami: Yay!

Johnny: No.

Caroline: No?

Sami: Well, I mean--

Caroline: Well, I just thought he loved his guy game so much that maybe we should do this another time.

Johnny: But you promised if we were good.

Sami: You did promise them, Grandma.

Caroline: All right, okay. All right. Come on, Johnny. Come on, Sydney.

Sami: Mwah! Have fun. Enjoy your ice cream. Be good for Grandma.

Caroline: Yeah. You be good too.

Sami: [Sighs]

[Door shuts]

Sami: Uh, I'm gonna put the flowers you gave me in water. That's a good idea.

EJ: Samantha, um... now that we're alone, maybe-- maybe we could take a minute to talk.

Sami: Um, sure.

EJ: I left you a message on your cell phone earlier.

Sami: Oh, my phone died. Sorry I didn't get it.

EJ: You don't need to say sorry. Um, I just wanted to say that, uh, a few days ago... I didn't think I had anybody in the world on my side.

Sami: I know what that feels like.

EJ: Yeah. Ex--except you and, uh, your son. I would just like you to know that... I am deeply grateful.

Sami: Um, okay. [Chuckles]

EJ: I, uh-- I wasn't able to show you that because I had to leave the safe house, so... I was hoping that I could show you now.

Daniel: Nicole... I don't want to keep this a secret.

Nicole: What secret?

Daniel: This thing... between us.

(Bell rings)

Daniel: EJ is gonna be suspicious no matter what, right?

Nicole: Right.

Daniel: Right. And the most important thing to me is you. Protecting you and that baby. So I think it's best... for all of us for you to move in with me.

Nicole: Really? Really? [Exhales]

Daniel: You okay?

Nicole: Yeah.

Daniel: [Chuckles] You seemed like you zoned out there for a second.

Nicole: Pregnancy brain.

Daniel: Right.

Nicole: Uh, so you--you said you had an idea about how to keep me and the baby safe.

Daniel: Uh, yes, I do. Actually, I have a couple of them, but I just realized that I have a consult I need to get to.

Nicole: Oh. Okay.

Daniel: Okay? But I-I will-- um, I will come up with some ideas, and I will get back to you as soon as possible. All right? Hey. Hey. We are gonna figure this thing out, okay? All right? Do not worry. I will always have your back.

Nicole: Thank you.

Daniel: Okay. All right, we'll talk soon. Okay?

Melanie: Oh, thank you for listening. [Laughs]

Marlena: Anytime.

Melanie: I don't suppose you could, mm, tell me what to do?

Marlena: I can tell you one thing you need to do. Stop caring what other people think.

Melanie: [Scoffs] How do I do that?

Marlena: Honey, the only way you can make this decision is to figure out what you need and what you can handle right now.

Melanie: See, I think it's the right now that's getting me, because it would freak me out to have Nick be free, but maybe I could ask the parole board for a del--just, like, a little more time.

Marlena: Honey, I'm afraid that's not an option. If Nick doesn't get paroled tomorrow, he's got to wait 18 months.

Melanie: 18 months?

Hope: I understand... the guilt you have over what you did to Melanie. Believe me. I understand it better than you could ever imagine, Nick. But I will say this. You wouldn't be this considerate of her feelings if you hadn't come a very long way. I truly believe the world out there would be a better place with you in it. Don't you?

Johnny: Can we go back and get some more?

Caroline: More? All you did was eat the sprinkles and the cherry on top.

Johnny: Mommy and Daddy didn't get any. I wish they came with us. They're home all alone.

Caroline: Yes. [Coughs]

Sami: Well, I should probably put these in water. I don't want them to wilt.

EJ: Wait.
