EJ: Samantha, we've been fighting this for a very long time. And... I give up.
Nicole: You're here. Thank God. Oh, Daniel, if it--if it weren't for you, I would have lost this baby. I would've lost so much.
Maxine: Well, I can't tell you how many prayers I prayed for you--me and everybody else in this hospital.
Melanie: No, you didn't.
Maggie: Where is she? Where's my girl? [Laughs]
Maggie: Oh, thank God you're okay.
Melanie: I'm fine. I'm fine. Maxine said she was praying.
Maggie: Yeah, well, we all were. I mean, I've been volunteering all night. There were so many people hurt from the explosion. I just didn't know they had found you and that you were here. Your father and I--we've been so worried about you. I can't lose you, I'll never let you go again.
Brady: Answer me. Where's--where's Madison?
Kate: Brady, I am so sorry.
Brady: What do you mean you're sorry? Where is she? Is she in the hospital? Is she hurt? Where--tell me where she is.
Kate: I'm sorry.
Brady: You keep saying you're sorry. Don't tell me you're sorry. Where is she? Where is--where is she?
Sami: EJ... EJ, wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. We have to stop.
EJ: Because why?
Sami: Because... because it's wrong. It's wrong. It's wrong.
Daniel: All right, I have some patients that I need to check on, but I want to keep an eye on you, okay? So you stick around.
Melanie: I'm not going anywhere.
Daniel: No, you're not gonna go anywhere. Mwah. All right, I'll be back.
Melanie: All right.
Maggie: Let me see you.
Melanie: No, don't--I'm a mess.
Maggie: Oh, no, you look beautiful to me. I'm just so happy that you're okay.
Melanie: I didn't--I didn't think I was gonna see you again.
Maggie: Oh, I knew we'd find you.
Melanie: Thank you for not giving up on me.
Maggie: Never. I was so worried about you. If I ever get my hands on the man who took you and kept you from us...
Melanie: You'll what?
Maggie: I will...
Melanie: You'll what?
Maggie: I will shake some sense into him--that's what I'm gonna do. And then I'll give him something to think about.
Chad: Well, than he'd get off lucky, then, because he wouldn't be able to think, much less do anything else, if I ever got my hands on him.
Melanie: Baby, don't say things like that.
Chad: Look, Andrew needs to be held responsible for what he did to you, Melanie.
Melanie: I know, it's just-- half the time he was trying to scare me, and the other half he was trying to be my friend.
Chad: Well, the guy's nuts, Mel.
Melanie: I know--I just wish I knew why he kidnapped me.
Gabi: I would have never ordered you to keep Melanie a prisoner!
Andrew: You wanted her out of the way! And I took care of that for you! So you don't get to push me around anymore.
Roman: Hi. Sorry to, uh, interrupt.
Melanie: Did you find Andrew?
Roman: Not yet, we're still looking for him. On the plus side, the gas leak is contained, and, fortunately, there weren't near as many casualties as we initially thought.
Maggie: Oh, well, thank God for that.
Chad: [Clears throat] Look, Commissioner, I know you're going through a great deal right now, but, uh, this Andrew guy-- he can't get away.
Roman: He won't. He won't. I guarantee you we will find him and bring him to justice.
[Knock at door]
Nicole: Come in.
Father Matt: I heard you were here.
Father Matt: May I come in?
Nicole: Of course, please, Father.
Nicole: Wow. Are you okay?
Father Matt: Oh, yes, I'm all right. I wish I could say the same for some of my parishioners. How are you, Nicole? And the baby?
Nicole: We're good.
Father Matt: I heard you went through quite an ordeal.
Nicole: Yeah, it was, uh-- it was really scary there for a while. But, um, I was lucky. I had Dr. Jonas with me. He saved my life. He saved my baby's life. And he kept me from going into early labor.
Father Matt: I know Dr. Jonas. He's a good man.
Nicole: Yeah. He's the best.
Father Matt: Well, pass my congratulations on to your husband. I had no idea you and EJ were expecting.
Nicole: Um... EJ and I are not together anymore. And this... this baby isn't his.
Father Matt: I see. Are you with the father of the child?
Nicole: No. No, we're just friends. Actually, I-I'm totally fine with it.
Father Matt: Well, I'm sorry you have to go through this situation alone.
Nicole: Oh, I don't--I don't plan to be alone.
Brady: No. Tell me what happened, please. What happened?
Kate: It was at the ballroom, in the hallway, after one of the explosions.
Brady: I could have been there.
Kate: No, no.
Brady: I could have protected her.
Kate: There was nothing that you could have done.
Brady: Nothing I could have done? You don't know that. Oh, God.
Kate: Brady... the window that she must have been standing in front of imploded. And there was glass and debris everywhere. She was gone before the paramedics got there.
Brady: She was getting ready for our wedding. She was supposed to be with my-- my father and Marlena.
Kate: She was ready.
Brady: It just doesn't make--
Kate: She was ready. She looked beautiful.
Brady: Where's my father? Where is Marlena? Are they okay? Where are they?
Kate: They're okay. Your dad's looking for you. Brady... I'm so sorry that it... that it happened this way. And I had issues with Madison, but I never wanted this. She would probably be here right now if Ian--
Kate: If Ian hadn't--
Brady: Ian? What did he do to her?
Maggie: Well, if you need me, I'm right out there, okay?
Melanie: Thank you.
Chad: Do you think Andrew made it out of the tunnels?
Roman: Well, that's hard to say. Most of them collapsed after that last explosion. If he didn't make it out, it will definitely lower our chances of finding him alive, but we will find him.
Melanie: Yeah. I mean, you have to, for my sake and for Gabi's sake. I mean, his obsession started with Gabi.
Gabi: Yeah. Yeah, right.
Melanie: I just don't want that guy going anywhere near us ever again.
Roman: Well, that's why getting your statement right now is crucial to our investigation.
Melanie: Okay, let's do it, then.
Roman: All right, let's go.
Melanie: All right, I'll be back. Oh.
Roman: There you go.
Melanie: Thank you.
Chad: Gabi, what's going on? Are you all right?
Gabi: No, I'm not.
Maggie: Well, things slowly seem to be getting back to normal...
Maggie: In large part due to you.
Daniel: Oh, they are--slowly.
Maggie: Did you call Carly and tell her that, uh, Melanie had been found and that she's okay?
Daniel: Yeah, yeah, called her last night.
Maggie: Well, she must be so relieved that everything is all right.
Daniel: Well, you think everything's all right.
Maggie: Daniel, what is wrong?
Daniel: What's wrong? What's wrong? Someone grabbed my daughter off the streets and got away with it because I failed to do my job as a father.
Maggie: That's not true.
Daniel: That's not true? It's not? She went missing for weeks. I didn't bother to call her. I didn't even think anything about her not calling me. The fact that she's alive is just pure--pure luck. I mean, I barely have had a chance to be a part of this girl's life, and I could've lost her. And I would not have known that because I am so damn self-involved. But let me tell you something-- that's what I do, Mom. That's the way I live my life.
Maggie: No, you know what? You're being too hard on yourself, Daniel.
Daniel: No, that's not true... because my daughter's life was hanging in the balance, and I wasn't there. You want to know what I was doing, Mom? Do you really want to know? It's unforgiveable.
Nicole: Look, Father, you know, I'm--I'm the first to admit I'm not very religious. I don't believe in that God or whoever it is that says we have some master plan. I'll tell you, because if we did have a plan, I've blown it or at least... deviated from it. But last night there was this moment that brought... everything into focus. It's sad, isn't it? That it takes almost losing my baby to get what really matters?
Father Matt: You had an epiphany, did you?
Nicole: Yeah, I guess you could call it that. Yeah. The irony is, aside from carrying this life inside of me, the one thing that has mattered to me has been right there in front of me this whole time.
EJ: Tell me something. What exactly is it that you find objectionable, hmm? Am I pressuring you?
Sami: No, I'm just telling you that we need to think, right? I mean, 24 hours ago, I was at home. I was making dinner with--
EJ: Lucas is, I think, the name you're looking for.
Sami: [Sighs] Yes. Yes, it was.
EJ: Lucas is a distraction. You know that. I know that. You're playing house with the guy! Lucas knows that, too, you understand that? That's why he didn't come looking for you.
Sami: Maybe that is what he thinks, but I have feelings for him.
EJ: What about the feelings you have for me? Doesn't it feel right being here with me?
Sami: But that's why I am terrified.
Sami: Are you kidding me? Do you know that nothing ever falls into place for me? Have you met me? Nothing is ever easy.
EJ: Samantha, this is not easy, you know? I'm on the run from the police. I'm being charged with a crime that I didn't commit. Nothing is falling into place. In fact, everything's falling to pieces.
Sami: Okay, so it's not perfect--I get that.
EJ: It's not perfect. Okay, we've tried all of this. Why don't you just stop and think about what we've actually been able to achieve.
Sami: Avoiding capture?
EJ: No. Things have changed between the two of us. I know that, and I know that you know that. It's like we've finally been able to put the past behind us, you know? And we really have each other's best interests at heart.
Sami: Well, you know, that's what's important. We owe that to the kids.
EJ: Mm-mm, no. We owe that to ourselves.
Sami: I didn't go on the run with you so we could fall into bed because the circumstances are--
EJ: Neither did I.
Sami: We are on the run because we are here to help you, because that is what's best for you. It's what's best for all of us-- the whole family.
EJ: Okay. It's the middle of the night. I put feelers out. And until somebody gets back to me, we're in a holding pattern.
Sami: Okay. Okay, then we'll wait. I can wait, right? We'll just--we'll just wait, then. We'll sit and--and wait and--and stare at the walls.
EJ: Well... we could certainly do that. But I'd much rather stare at you.
Melanie: Uh, he handcuffed me to a pipe, and then he left me down in the tunnels. I--sorry, I didn't think that anybody was gonna find me.
Roman: How'd you get away from him?
Melanie: Gabi. [Sniffles] Gabi found me.
Chad: Okay, what's wrong? Talk to me.
Gabi: Nothing, nothing. Forget it.
Chad: Gabi, come on, you know I can't do that.
Gabi: It's just everything that's happened with Andrew and all the things that he sent to Melanie. All of this happened, and it's my fault.
Chad: Gabi--no, it isn't.
Gabi: Yes, it is, okay? You don't understand!
Chad: Gabi, what don't I understand?
Gabi: That I'm to blame for this. I'm a horrible person!
Chad: No, you're not. Come here.
Maggie: Daniel, you're a good man. You're a caring and loving father.
Daniel: I don't need you propping me up, Mom.
Maggie: I'm speaking the truth. And that's kind of what I'd like from you. Daniel, your daughter is alive and safe. You should be rejoicing instead of beating up on yourself for God knows what.
Maggie: Is this about Nicole?
Daniel: No, Nicole has done nothing wrong here.
Maggie: I didn't say that she had.
Daniel: You know, she's a lot better person than most people around here give her credit for, including your husband.
Maggie: We're talking about you, Daniel. I want to know what's upsetting you.
Daniel: Mom, ever since I came back here, I have been doing to Nicole what she has been accused of doing time and time again.
Maggie: You're gonna have to, uh, narrow that down a little bit.
Daniel: I'm using her. I'm pushing her into some sort of intense commitment to me...
Maggie: I see.
Daniel: Because I don't like being alone. I'm not good at it, Mom, and so I tried to pressure her into a relationship that she doesn't want--she doesn't need. I mean, I have become that guy. I'm that guy--no, I'm not. No more. No more.
Nicole: I just want to be happy... loved. Trite, I know, 'cause that's what everyone wants, right?
Father Matt: And you believe your chance of being happy was right in front of you this whole time?
Father Matt: Hmm.
Nicole: I guess I didn't appreciate what was being offered to me.
Father Matt: And why is that?
Nicole: Because I... I just have a hard time believing that when someone says that they won't hurt me that they actually mean it, you know? So I did what I do best. I pushed this person away, and I gave him mixed signals, and I didn't express what I actually wanted. [Sighs] Oh, God, I'm done. I'm done, I'm not--no more. I just... I'm not playing anymore games.
Father Matt: You know, Nicole, you're not alone anymore.
Nicole: I know. I have a baby on board.
Father Matt: And it's important you keep the focus on that child... and give him or her the life they deserve.
Nicole: Believe me, Father, that's exactly what I intend to do.
Sami: Oh, EJ.
Sami: It's important. You know it is. It's your computer--come on.
EJ: Mm-mm, no.
EJ: [Grunts] Oh, it's from one of my contacts.
Sami: Wait. What is that?
Sami: Can you read that? It's a bunch of numbers.
EJ: Yeah--no, it's a code that, uh, Stefano developed.
Sami: You can decipher it?
Sami: Hey, is your computer safe?
EJ: Oh, of course it's safe. I have a scrambler, so they can't trace the I.P. address. Nothing incoming or outgoing can be traced.
Sami: Okay, so what's it say?
EJ: One of my contacts has been in touch with somebody who has some information that could clear my name! That's fantastic!
Sami: Are you serious?
EJ: Wait one second. I have to go--I have to go meet with him.
Sami: Okay, I'll go with you.
Sami: Yeah, yeah, I'm coming.
EJ: No, you're not.
Brady: Tell me where he is right now! Tell me where he is!
John: You don't need to know that, son.
Kate: John, this is none of your business.
John: So this was the grand plan, huh, Kate?
John: Mm-hmm. You're gonna wind up my son. Then you're gonna send him off to get McAllister? You think I'm gonna let you do that?
John: Get out of here. Come on, let's go.
Kate: No, no, no. No, get your hands off me.
John: You look at me. My son's grief is not gonna be another one of your weapons. If you want revenge on that half a man, Ian McAllister, you go get it yourself!
Kate: Get off me! I am sorry. I am sorry for your loss, but you need to hear this.
John: Get out of here!
Kate: I was there when she died.
Brady: What do I need to hear? Tell me.
Kate: He needs to hear this, John. She said... "Brady, I love you."
Brady: I'm gonna kill him. I'm gonna kill him.
John: Not like this!
Brady: I'm gonna kill him, Dad!
John: You're not going anywhere like this... not like this.
Gabi: I hate myself.
Chad: Gabi, come on.
Gabi: If you really knew me, Chad, then you would hate me too.
Chad: What are you--what are you talking about, Gabi? Andrew kidnapped Melanie, okay? You didn't. Why would I hate you? Why would anyone hate you? There's nothing you could've done to stop this.
Gabi: That's not true. I could've stopped it. But I didn't.
Maggie: So you're saying what--that you need to be connected to someone? Daniel, we all do. So you're lonely and Nicole was there.
Daniel: Okay, Mom--I wanted it to be more. I wanted it to mean more. So what I do is I keep pushing, and I put pressure on, and I don't know when to stop. I don't know--she doesn't love me that way, and yet I'm all jealous, and I get stupid. I have--I have no right, none.
Maggie: Well, if I know Nicole, and I'm pretty sure that I do, she didn't have any trouble telling you what she wanted.
Daniel: No, she didn't. But what she needed from me was to be a friend, and I didn't exactly do that, 'cause I...
Daniel: Mom... I think, uh... since I learned that my career as a surgeon was over, I've done probably just about everything possible to avoid... the emptiness.
Maggie: So you're saying this relationship with Nicole has been... like escaping your loss?
Daniel: I think it has. I do. I mean, getting Melanie back has made me see how shallow and self-involved I really am.
Maggie: And now?
Daniel: And now I can't-- I can't use Nicole or anyone to escape my own emptiness. I can't do it because what I want out of me... is I want to be a father my daughter can count on. I want to be a man that my daughter is proud of.
Maggie: Well... your mother is already very proud of you.
Nicole: Well, my little angel... Father Matt is right. You deserve a good life, and that's what I'm going to give you. And I believe in my heart... that Daniel could love us both... and look after us. We just need to let him know that's what we want.
Brady: You can't keep me here.
John: It's gonna be difficult.
Brady: I'm gonna find him. Dad--
John: After you bring it down a few notches.
Brady: I'm not gonna bring it down a few notches. Why do I have to do that?
John: Because you're out for blood, and McAllister's not worth it.
Brady: He killed her, Dad! It's worth it!
John: He didn't. He didn't, son. I know you want to blame him. It's a hell of a lot easier like that, but what happened to Madison was nothing but an accident.
Brady: It was not an accident! He broke her. All she wanted to do was be with me, and he wanted her for himself. And now she's gone, and I don't have her, and I'm want to kill him! That's all I want to do.
John: Is this what Madison would've wanted?
Brady: Can I kill the guy?
John: Is that what she would have wanted--for you to go off after McAllister like this? You got to find a--you got to find a way to let it go... if not for your sake... out of respect for Madison. You got to find a way to let it go! Can you do that?
Lucas: Oh, hey, Mom.
Kate: You look better.
Kate: So, um, I-I texted you. I was just wondering if you need any help with the kids today.
Lucas: Well, no, not at the moment I don't. Allie's got a play date. Johnny and Sydney are at the pub, so, you know, we're getting by. It's been a little crazy without Sami, though.
Lucas: Quite a juggling act.
Kate: So you're still at the mercy of her selfish behavior, right?
Lucas: Mm-hmm. I am, again. I guess I'm used to it. [Clears throat] What are you doing? Where are you headed?
Kate: Um, well, since you don't need my help, I'm going to go over to the police station.
Lucas: Everything okay?
Kate: Yeah, yeah, um, I just have to talk to Roman.
Lucas: About what?
Ian: Stefano was the scum of the earth. You should be happy to be rid of him. You should be down on your knees, grateful, thankful that I killed him.
Kate: Nothing to worry about. Doesn't concern you.
Lucas: Does he have any idea where Sami is?
Kate: Oh, why do you think I would even care where that wretched woman is? I mean, as far as I'm concerned, she can stay away as long as she possibly could. But I know eventually she's gonna crawl out from under some rock.
Lucas: It's gonna be hard for her to avoid jail time-- aiding and abetting a fugitive.
Kate: Yeah, well, too bad they haven't built a cell already deep and dark enough for that little witch.
Lucas: If she wasn't the mother of my children, I'd build that cell myself.
EJ: No more arguing.
Sami: For now.
EJ: Good... because when I get back, hopefully having cleared my name... I want to pick up exactly where we left off.
Sami: EJ? I'll be waiting.
Daniel: Now, I read your chart, and you and your baby-- you're doing--you're doing well. In fact, I think you're gonna be out of here by the end of the day.
Nicole: I don't know how to thank you.
Daniel: No, you've thanked me enough. Just--
Nicole: No, not enough. You-- I owe you. If it--if it weren't for you, I don't know what would have happened to me. You saved both our lives.
Daniel: Look, I'm your friend, Nic. I would've-- I mean, I was happy to do whatever I could.
Nicole: You know, Daniel, um, I've been thinking a lot about, um, our relationship or whatever it is that we're calling it--
[Knock at door]
Daniel: I don't... ah!
Dr. Knapp: Hi, Nicole.
Daniel: Hi, Dr. Knapp.
Dr. Knapp: Dr. Jonas. I thought I'd just come by and say hello to my patient.
Daniel: All right, well, I'll, uh, get out of your way.
Nicole: Oh, no, no. Don't go, please. I-I want you to stay.
Dr. Knapp: Well, the good news is that you and your baby seem to be doing just fine. So, while I'd advise you to continue taking it easy, I don't see any reason to confine you to bed rest.
Nicole: Oh, that's great. Anything else or...?
Dr. Knapp: Uh, actually, there is. But you might be more comfortable if, um...
Nicole: Oh, no, no, no.
Daniel: Oh, no, I--
Nicole: No, wait. If you have anything to say, you can say in front of Daniel. I mean, he's the one who saved my child's life, okay? So I want him to hear it.
Dr. Knapp: Okay, um, fine. I'm gonna advise that for the remainder of your pregnancy, that you abstain from any sexual activity whatsoever.
Brady: It's just-- Dad, I feel guilty. I wasn't there for her. I wasn't there when she needed me.
John: You didn't know she was in any danger, kid. No one did. You heard what Kate said. Her last thoughts, her last words... they were of you. She said she loved you, son. And that... that is what you hold on to.
Dr. Knapp: I'm sorry. I'm gonna have to go, but I will be back before you're discharged. Excuse me.
Nicole: Thank you.
Daniel: Thank you. Wow.
Nicole: Buzzkill, huh?
Daniel: Oh, yeah.
Nicole: Seriously? No fooling around for a couple of months?
Daniel: [Chuckles] Yeah. Well, you'll, um... you'll be fine.
Nicole: Well, a couple of months is a long time for you too.
Daniel: Yeah, well, I think the only thing that matters is the... you know, the health of your child.
Nicole: Daniel, if you're trying to say that you care about both of us, I already know.
Daniel: Good. Good.
Nicole: A lot? Do you care a lot or...?
Daniel: Yes, a lot. Of course I do.
Daniel: Nicole, us not being together anymore in that way, it's not only what's best for for the baby, it's what's best for us too.
Chad: Gabi, listen to me, okay? Not only are you not to blame for what Andrew did to Melanie, you're the hero. You rescued her from that creep. Why are you coming down on yourself?
Melanie: Whoa, Gabi, Chad's right. I know you're traumatized by everything that happened, but come on. You're a great friend. Nothing that happened is your fault.
Maxine: I need all of you out of here now. We have another victim.
Melanie: Do you need help with anything?
Maxine: I could use an extra pair of hands clearing out trauma rooms.
Chad: Okay, uh, don't go anywhere without me, all right?
Melanie: I won't. Come on. All right, um, what do we have?
Man: See for yourself. I'll page Dr. Brennan.
Melanie: Thank you so much. All right, sir, you're in a hospital, you're gonna be fine. We're just gonna get you some medi--oh, my God.
Sami: [Sighs] [Screams] Oh!
Sami: Great. Now what?
Lucas: Why are you looking at me like that?
Kate: This isn't like you.
Lucas: To what?
Kate: Well, usually when I try to throw Sami under the bus, you're there to push her out of the way.
Lucas: Yeah, and then the bus hits me. I'm not gonna do that anymore.
Kate: Really? You're really not gonna try to protect her anymore?
Lucas: Nope, I'm done with it. She made her bed, she can sleep in it... without me.
Gabi: Melanie, hey, what's-- what's going on? Oh, God.
Nicole: I don't understand. You don't think we should make love again... ever?
Daniel: I'm... I'm--I'm not proud of the way I've treated you, Nicole.
Nicole: What? What are you talking about--the way you've treated me? You saved my life--my baby's life.
Daniel: No, I'm talking about before.
Nicole: Before what? I don't know what you're talking about.
Daniel: Just pressuring you into a relationship, which is the last thing either one of us needs right now.
Nicole: Look, Daniel, please stop it, that's ridiculous--
Daniel: No, it is not. Nic, you got to hear me, 'cause--
Nicole: Stop, shh. I'm talking. It's time for you to listen to me now.
Lucas: I'm just sorry it took me so long to see Sami for who she really is.
Kate: Oh, I'm just so happy you've finally decided to remove yourself from that disaster she calls a life. Oh, honey, you deserve so much more. You deserve someone who's going to be worthy of the love and the affection that you have to give.
Lucas: Yeah, despite everything that's happened, though, I... I still want the same for her too, you know?
Kate: Oh, my God, Lucas. Really?
Lucas: I do, for the kids' sake. Mom, those children need stability in their life.
Kate: Okay, I see the logic in that.
Lucas: And I want her to be happy. You know, I want her to fall in love with somebody, and... you know, I want someone to love her back.
Kate: Yeah, then she can make his life miserable, right?
Sami: [Shrieks] You!
