Ian: My darling Kate. What perfect timing.
Kate: Hey. Perfect timing for what?
Ian: You can join me for a bit of lunch and champagne.
Kate: Champagne? I would love to join you for champagne, but unfortunately I have to meet Brady and Madison over at Mad World, and I need to be on my toes for that.
Ian: Oh, yes. Especially if Brady's going to be stoned out of his gourd again.
Kate: You know, you never answered my question.
Ian: What question?
Kate: You know what question. Are you doing that to Brady? Are you doing this to Brady?
Ian: When you asked me that, I told you--
Kate: I know what you told me. I'm not so sure I believe you.
Madison: Hey, baby. Hey. Brady, I love you. Brady, come on. I want to help you through whatever you're going through, but you got to let me in. You got to tell me what's going on. Oh, good. Good. Now I know you're not dead. Come on, babe. Wake up. Huh? Wake up. Let's go. Wake up.
Abigail: [Laughs] Nice job on the ice cream, you two. Doesn't look like you have any spills.
Theo: And no leftovers.
Abigail: Now, can you do me a favor and throw your trash away right over there? Thank you.
Cameron: Thank you for helping out with the kids today.
Abigail: Yeah, of course. I love baseball. I'm glad I could tag along.
Cameron: You know, you got a pretty good swing too. I had no idea you could hit a ball like that.
Abigail: Well, you don't know a lot of things about me.
Cameron: Oh. Can't wait to find out every last one of them.
Kayla: All righty. I've organized all the food that everybody brought over. It is labeled and loaded in the freezer. You know, it is so pack-jam in there. You are not going to have to worry about cooking for weeks.
Abe: [Chuckles] Well, thank you. Thank you so much for coming over and helping out.
Kayla: I'm just glad to do it. Well, I think I'll just-- I'll just get going then.
Abe: Yeah. Kayla, uh-- don't leave, please.
Gabi: What have you done?
Andrew: Well, what does it look like? Like, you wanted Melanie out of the way. Now she is.
Gabi: Are you--are you out of your mind?
Ciara: [Giggles] You guys are as bad as my mom and dad.
Cameron: You know, now that you both finished your ice cream, we need to run Abigail by her house so she can change and then head back home.
Theo: Don't wanna go.
Cameron: All right, Theo. Don't you want to head back and see your dad?
Theo: My mommy won't be there.
Cameron: No, she won't. But your daddy will be waiting to see you. And remember what you told me about him?
Cameron: That your mommy came to you and said she needed you to help your daddy, right? So we got to get home now and see how he's doing. And don't worry, I'll go with you. And I promise I'll help you look after him too.
Theo: You promise?
Cameron: I do, buddy.
Kayla: My mom is staying with Joey so I could stay as long as long as you need me to. Is there something else on your to-do list that I could do?
Abe: No, there's nothing. [Inhales] [Laughs] I could just use a little company. I'm really missing Lexie today.
Kayla: Of course. I'll stay as long as you need.
Abe: Thank you.
Kayla: It is going to get easier, you know.
Abe: Will it?
Kayla: You know, Abe, I have been in your shoes. When I thought that I had lost Steve, I must have hugged Stephanie a thousand times. I hugged her so tight, I just-- I just prayed to God. I said, "thank you. Thank you for letting me have my baby girl." And I couldn't believe that her father was not going to watch her grow up.
Abe: Yeah. I couldn't believe it either.
Kayla: I used to--I used to wait for her to wake up in the morning from her nap. And the day that she started preschool, I couldn't stop crying.
Abe: You know, I-I don't know what I'm going to do when Theo goes back to school in the fall.
Kayla: You're going to get busy. That's what you're going to do. And if I know you, you're going do something that makes a difference. Why do you think I went back to medical school?
Abe: You know, I need a good job to set an example for Theo to feel--to feel good about taking care of him.
Kayla: You already set a great example, Abe Carver. Come on, now. Besides, you know what? An important job for you is? You're the keeper of Lexie's memory.
Gabi: Andrew, you-- you have totally crossed the line, okay? Pretending to be my stalker is one thing, but then going and kidnapping a person, then locking her up-- I mean, do you realize how serious this is?
Andrew: You wanted me to help you.
Gabi: Not like this! Not by kidnapping my friend. Oh, my God, Melanie. Did you hurt her? Is she okay? You didn't do anything to her?
Andrew: Now look. Melanie is fine.
Gabi: Don't you realize how much trouble you're going to be in if you get caught?
Andrew: You mean how much trouble we're going to be in if we get caught.
Gabi: What are you talking about?
Andrew: We're in this together. Remember?
Kate: Why can't you just tell me the truth? Are you the reason that Brady's been flying around town as high as a kite?
Ian: It's my understanding that Brady Black was a drug addict long before I ever came to Salem.
Kate: Yes, that's true, but it wasn't until you so generously agreed to allow him to marry your soon-to-be ex-wife that he started to slip again.
Ian: I'm really surprised that you think I'd go to such lengths to get between Brady and Madison. The simple truth, and you and I both know it--addicts relapse. That is what's happened. Brady Black may be strong in body, but he's obviously very weak in spirit.
Madison: More coffee?
Brady: Thank you.
Madison: Okay, it's okay. I got it. I got it. No problem.
Brady: [Clears throat]
Madison: Hey, I want to understand what's going on with you...
Brady: I know.
Madison: So that I could help you. Will you please talk to me?
Brady: What's going on is that I'm coming--I'm coming off a high here, Madison. I'm coming down.
Madison: From what drug?
Brady: I haven't done anything. I haven't done any drugs. Madison, I already told you that.
Madison: Brady, that doesn't make any sense, okay? You need to be honest with me. How can you-- how can you be coming down off a high from a drug if you haven't done any drugs?
Brady: I don't know! I don't know! I'm coming off something. I don't know what's going on with me, all right? But somebody--somebody's managed to get some stuff in here, Madison. I think I know who it is. And I think you know who it is too.
Abe: You know, look. If you don't want to talk about it...
Kayla: No. No, it's-- I just don't want to burden you with my problems. You-- you have a lot on your plate.
Abe: It helps me to talk about because I know I'm not the only one who's dealing with loss right now.
Kayla: It's not the same.
Abe: Yeah, you're right. It's not. You know, things could change. You and Steve could have a future.
Kayla: Unfortunately, I don't think so. I think I'm finally accepting what I've known for a long time. And after that conversation I had with Steve the other day, I'm pretty positive that our marriage is over.
Abigail: Aunt Kayla. Is that really true?
Ciara: We played baseball!
Ciara: We had ice cream!
Theo: I hit a home run.
Kayla: Hi, baby.
Gabi: I can't believe that you would do this to me. And to Melanie.
Andrew: You can't? Well, what about Chad? Hmm? What do you think he's going to believe?
Gabi: You wouldn't tell him.
Andrew: Wouldn't I? Hmm? I mean, what do you think Chad is going to say when he realizes that you were the one who stood between him and his precious Melanie?
Abigail: You and Uncle Steve are splitting up?
Kayla: Why don't we go out in the garden and we can talk about it?
Abigail: Yeah, that's a good idea.
Abe: Hey. So how was your day? Huh? What was going on?
Theo: We played baseball.
Ciara: And I saw Cameron and Abigail kiss. Can Theo show me his new game now?
Abe: Oh, yeah. Yeah, go ahead. Go, go ahead, you guys. Yeah. Have fun, huh?
Cameron: Put your toys away. All right. Yeah. I can explain.
Abe: [Chuckles] There's no need. I was your age once. Look, I know you and Abigail care about each other. Lexie approved. So do I.
Abigail: Oh, my gosh. Aunt Kayla, I didn't even know that you and Uncle Steve were having problems, let alone talking about a divorce.
Kayla: Well, I haven't really wanted to talk about it.
Abigail: I'm sorry.
Kayla: No, everything's going to be all right. I don't think when I came back here to Salem that I really thought our separation would lead to a reconciliation. But you can't live in limbo forever, you know? So we are moving ahead with the divorce.
Abigail: Wow. Does my dad know yet? Or Aunt Adrienne?
Kayla: No. They know about the separation, but they don't know about the divorce. And I'd really appreciate it if you didn't say anything until I have a chance to tell Stephanie, and she's out of town and--
Abigail: Of course. Yeah, I won't. I just--I wouldn't wait too long to tell everyone.
Kayla: Why not? Well, Ciara overheard what you said earlier too. And as much as I love my little cousin, if you want to keep a secret, she's the last person in the world that you tell.
Abigail: Hmm, duly noted. [Laughing] I'm sure that she is going to tell anyone who'll listen that she saw Cameron and I kissing earlier.
Kayla: Well, I'm glad you told me that so I didn't have to hear it from her.
Abigail: Well, it's not like it's a big deal or anything. It really doesn't mean that much.
Kayla: Why not?
Abigail: Well, because Cameron's job here at the hospital is temporary. He was just doing it to help his sister out. And now that Lexie's gone--
Kayla: But he wanted to stay here to be close to Theo, right?
Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, he wanted to stay longer. But if that worked out, he would have said something. Right?
Kayla: So you don't think that he wants to stay here?
Abigail: I just--I know that he was looking at some other jobs in big cities, and I don't know. He's a really ambitious guy, so...
Kayla: So you don't want it to end. Right?
Abigail: I don't.
Kayla: Well, then maybe you need to give Cameron another reason to stay here.
Kayla: Go and tell him exactly how you feel.
Madison: Look, I don't want to fight with you. I'm just saying you need to be honest with me. I'm here for you, and I will help you. Whatever you need.
Brady: We can't do anything. There's nothing I can do about it while he's slipping me these drugs.
Madison: Okay. What would your sponsor say? Ian is not responsible for your slip.
Brady: [Sniffs] You're wrong. You're wrong. See, what's going on is he is screwing with my life.
Brady: He's screwing with my livelihood. He wants to rip us apart. That's what the man wants to do. You hear me?
Madison: Why would he do that? It doesn't make any sense. He's the one who let us be together in the first place. And he's now with Kate who he says is the only woman he's ever loved.
Brady: Well, that may be true, that may be true. But he's jealous. He's a jealous man. He's infuriated that you chose me over him. And he's not going to be happy until our relationship is done. That's what he's doing.
Madison: Okay, I lived with the man. I was married to him. I know who he is. You don't have to tell me--
Brady: You need to think about this because it's the truth. Did you think about this? It's what he's doing.
Madison: Okay. Even if it made sense, which it doesn't, how would he possibly be getting drugs into your system? How would he do that?
Brady: I don't know. Madison, I don't know.
Madison: Okay. You know, I got to go to work or I'm going to be late for our meeting, so...
Brady: Then I'm going jump into the shower and I'm going to meet you there.
Madison: No, no, no, don't.
Brady: I can do that.
Madison: No, no, no. Listen to me. I need you to stay here and just pull yourself together, okay? Take some time and get yourself together. Focus on that. Please.
Brady: You sure? I can--I can--
Madison: No, no, no, really. Please. I'll see you later, okay?
Brady: All right. [Sighs] Oh, Maggie, if I ever needed a sponsor, damn it, it's now. Come on, damn it. Oh, god. [Panting] There's only one [Indistinct] Going to help me now.
Ian: You really must think the worst of me if you think I would give drugs to a drug addict.
Kate: Well, I don't want to but in this case...
Ian: What would I gain by-- by drugging Brady Black?
Kate: You'd keep him away from Madison.
Ian: And why would I want to do that? Why would I care when I have the woman that I love right here?
Kate: Thank you for that.
Ian: It's the truth. I don't care about Brady and Madison. And I don't care what drugs Brady snorts or swallows or injects into his body. The only thing I care about is he does not screw up our business.
Kate: Well, Madison and I will not let that happen.
Ian: You forget. It's already happened.
[Cell phone rings]
Ian: Is that something I should know about?
Kate: Oh, it's Madison. Brady is not going to make the meeting.
Ian: Well, it's probably for the best.
Kate: I should get going. I'm probably going to have to do damage control.
Ian: [Sighs] Keep me posted.
Kate: I will.
Ian: Hello? It's me. We have Brady Black right where I want him. Yes, he's going to need something very soon. Keep a very close watch on him. I don't want to lose this opportunity.
Gabi: Andrew, please, you can't tell Chad.
Andrew: Oh. I won't. Just as long as you promise not to say anything because if you tell the cops... Gabi, there's no going back. Besides, I think I did you a huge favor.
Gabi: I never asked you to do anything this extreme.
Andrew: So you say. But I mean, it did give you time alone with Chad.
Andrew: And you have me to thank for that.
Gabi: But you can't-- Andrew, you can't go around just kidnapping people, okay? Melanie has friends. I mean, people are going to think the worst.
Andrew: And you really care what other people have to say?
Gabi: Yes, I do care. I do care, and I can't-- I'm sorry, I cannot follow through with this. I can't. Here you go little man.
Cameron: Thank you for saying that. I'm glad that you and Lexie approve because I really like Abigail a lot.
Abe: Well, I can see that.
Cameron: It's just--we get each other. And in my experience, that doesn't seem to happen very often. Actually, it didn't even happen with us at first.
Abe: [Chuckles] You know, I've known Abigail her whole life, and she's grown into a very special young woman.
Cameron: She adores Theo. So we know she has good taste in men.
Abe: Yeah, well, let me tell you. He's her biggest fan. And if there's anybody in the family who's a good judge of character, it's Theo. Look at how much he loves you.
Cameron: He's a great kid. I'm glad I have this opportunity to be a part of his life. I just wish I could have got to know my sister a little better too.
Abe: Me too. She was a remarkable woman. She's probably one of the most selfless people I've ever met. And don't get me wrong. I mean, we--we had our problems from time to time. But she is my one true love.
Cameron: I hope I can find that kind of love one day.
Abe: Well, who knows? Maybe you already have.
Abigail: I think Cameron knows how I feel about him.
Kayla: Well, you don't sound very sure.
Kayla: You know, you need to be sure that he knows how you feel. Especially if he's going to take a job somewhere else.
Abigail: Yeah, you're probably right.
Abigail: But-- I mean, come on, Aunt Kayla. I have made some huge mistakes in relationships lately.
Kayla: You being with Austin.
Abigail: Yeah. And Chad too. I-I started assuming too much about what was happening and I just--I don't want to make those mistakes again.
Kayla: So you're afraid to put yourself out there with Cameron.
Abigail: I don't want to lose him as a friend.
Kayla: Well, that's understandable, but nobody said that you would. Okay, all right. So you've made a few mistakes. Love requires taking a chance. You have to at least let him know what you think about him.
Abigail: [Sighs] What if he doesn't feel the same way?
Kayla: Well, that's good know too, isn't it? And the sooner the better before you get swept away.
Abigail: I just--I don't know if I can take that risk.
Kayla: Okay, then try this. Why don't you just ask him what he feels? I think you're going to be really pleasantly surprised.
Andrew: Fine. If this whole situation really makes you that uncomfortable, well, you got to take your chances with the law. Well, then I'll just release Melanie right now. But keep in mind that you are risking losing Chad. Forever.
Gabi: It's the right thing to do. I have no choice.
Andrew: Of course. But you do realize that Melanie will go right to the cops. And when she does, my very lovely co-conspirator-- you and I will end up spending a very long time in Statesville Prison. But-- well, there's no use in putting off the inevitable. So I'm just going to release Melanie so that she can be reunited with her love, Chad, right now.
Gabi: Wait. Oh, my God, I can't believe it's come to this right now. I just wanted to pretend for you to be my stalker. That's it, that's all I wanted.
Andrew: Well, the stakes have risen.
Gabi: Yeah, because of you-- because you kidnapped somebody.
Andrew: [Laughs] Look, in time, we will release Melanie. But we will do it in such a way where she has no idea who was actually holding her or where it was.
Gabi: Is that even possible?
Andrew: Yes. You see, Melanie hasn't seen my face. And she has no idea about your involvement.
Gabi: Thank God.
Andrew: Hmm. Look, and by the time that we actually do release her, it will be far too late for her and Chad because he will be so in love with you. That is if you still think that you can get him to fall in love with you.
Gabi: Of course I can make him fall in love with me. Just--I--
Gabi: Andrew, I don't want my friend to get hurt.
Andrew: Oh, Melanie will be fine. I'll take good care of her, I promise.
Abigail: After Austin, I just-- I'm really self-conscious about putting my feelings out there. I think that Cameron knows how I feel about him. I mean, he has to. If he doesn't--
Kayla: Oh, he's clueless for sure.
Abigail: Or maybe I'm clueless, I don't know.
Kayla: No, I don't think you are. I think you need to let your heart be your guide. If it doesn't feel right, don't do it.
Kayla: You know, when I first met Steve, he was not the man my parents exactly had in mind for me. But I knew that we had something special, and I trusted those feelings, and I took a chance on us. And maybe we're not spending a lifetime together. But we had a lot of wonderful years together. And we have two fabulous kids.
Abigail: Aunt Kayla, I'm so sorry that it didn't last a lifetime though.
Kayla: Yeah, well, you know, it doesn't last a lifetime for a lot of couples no matter how much they love each other. Look at Abe and Lexie. Can you imagine if he hadn't gone up to her in the Salem PD all those years ago and tell her how he felt? What they would have missed out on.
Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, you're right. No matter what happens, I have to tell Cameron how I feel about him.
Kayla: There you go. That's my girl.
Abigail: Thank you.
Cameron: I do like Abigail a lot. I'd like to get to know her better.
Abe: Ciara already figured that out. [Laughing]
[Cell phone rings]
Cameron: Oh. Excuse me, this is the call I've been waiting for.
Abe: Oh, all right.
Cameron: [Clears throat] Hello? Yes, this is Cameron Davis. Thank you. [Clears throat] Of course, I'm very grateful for the offer. So--so when would I have to be in Chicago to start?
Gabi: Look, you can't hurt Melanie no matter what happens.
Andrew: It's what I just said.
Gabi: Yeah, but I didn't like the way you said it.
Andrew: [Scoffs] Look, I would be more worried about Melanie hurting me, all right? She tried to escape earlier.
Gabi: What? She tried to escape? What's going to happen to us if she escapes?
Andrew: Don't worry. I took care of it.
Gabi: Okay, but don't--don't hurt her, please. Even if she tries to escape, all right? She's--she's been a really good friend to me.
Andrew: Oh, I get it. Look, Melanie is just an innocent bystander in this entire situation. I mean, the whole reason that she's under lock and key right now is that she just happened to have the bad luck of falling in love with Chad. And well, what a bummer that Chad happened to be the dream guy of her good friend, Gabi. And that you would be willing to plot and scheme and do just about anything to steal him away from her.
Gabi: Shut up, Andrew. It wasn't like that. You don't know what you're talking about.
Andrew: Don't I? I mean, the whole reason that Melanie is not with Chad right now is because of me. So the longer that she's gone, it's the better for you. Right? So what I suggest is that you stop disrespecting me and take advantage of the golden opportunity that I've given you.
[Cell phone rings]
Brady: Yeah. Great, great. "Meet me at--"
Kate: [Clears throat] Okay, so everything under control?
Madison: Absolutely. We should be ready to start soon.
Kate: Then why does it look like Brady's not the only one who should have stayed home.
Madison: I'm fine.
Kate: What about Brady?
Madison: He's just not feeling very well.
Madison: Look, it's not what you think, okay? It's a bug. It's like a 24-hour thing.
Kate: Madison, come on. When are you going to face the facts? Your boyfriend is on drugs again.
Cameron: That's great. I accept, I can't wait to start. Any other details I need to know?
Kayla: Where are the kids?
Abe: Oh, they're playing upstairs.
Kayla: Maybe we should go check up on them, and let them have a moment alone.
Abe: Yeah, come on. Let's go.
Cameron: Okay. Thank you again. Abigail. I didn't see you.
Abigail: Well, it sounds like congratulations are in order. You accepted a job?
Cameron: Yes. I'm so excited.
Abigail: When do you start?
Cameron: Immediately. Tomorrow.
Abigail: Oh. That's--that's fast. So I guess we should say our good-byes now, right?
Andrew: So what's it going to be? Hmm? Are you going to let Melanie go or not?
Gabi: [Sighs] Fine. Keep Melanie out of the way for now. And don't let her get away again.
Andrew: No worries.
Gabi: But I don't want anything to do with what's happening here. All right? The only thing that I'm focused on is getting Chad.
Andrew: As you should.
Gabi: And promise me you're going treat Melanie well.
Andrew: Look, I gave you my word. All right? I'll take good care of Melanie. Don't you worry.
Madison: You don't know what you're talking about. Brady's fine. Can we just concentrate on this meeting?
Kate: No, we're going to deal with the elephant in the room: Brady's drug use.
Madison: I'm not having this conversation with you, Kate.
Kate: Well, maybe you should because I've been through it, Madison.
Madison: You have?
Kate: Yes, I have. My son Lucas is a recovering alcoholic. And Billie was an addict.
Madison: I didn't know that.
Kate: They're both clean and sober now. But it was a struggle. A lot of hard work. And the tears. [Sighs] It was--it was a terrible, terrible time.
Madison: I'm sorry.
Kate: Don't be sorry. You just need to listen. Okay? At first, there's denial. And then there's guilt. And then all you can really, really think about is whether they're ever going to get better or whether they're going to end up dead. So if you love Brady as much as you say you do, then you need to take action. And you need to do it before it's too late.
Brady: Thanks. Thanks for coming so fast. I appreciate it.
Man: Always happy to help out an old friend. Thought you were clean.
Brady: Yeah, I thought so too. Listen, I need-- I need just a little--little pick-me-up, okay? Nothing--nothing much.
Man: You always did like to fly first-class.
Brady: Yeah. [Sniffs] [Exhales]
Cameron: I don't understand. Why are we saying good-bye now when we should be celebrating?
Abigail: I overheard your conversation. I know that the job that you accepted is at a hospital in Chicago, right?
Cameron: No. I have to drive to Chicago for some training. The job is here in Salem. The University Hospital.
Abigail: You're kidding. Really?
Cameron: Yes, really. I'm staying here in Salem with my nephew and you.
Gabi: What's in it for you, Andrew?
Andrew: Well, the money that you're going to pay me. And satisfaction that knowing that I helped you find your true love.
Gabi: I do love Chad. And I think he's better off with me than Melanie.
Andrew: And that's why you'll do anything to get him, right?
Gabi: I think I've already have. I'm sorry, Melanie. I didn't mean for this to happen.
Andrew: [Sighs] Listen to me. When you are finally alone with Chad, and he's thinking about nobody but you-- well, you'll realize we've done the right thing.
Madison: Kate, I appreciate your concern and--and your honesty about what you've been through with your own children, but I know Brady.
Kate: I know him too, Madison.
Madison: Then you need to accept the fact that he's just sick. And I will do everything I can to help him.
Kate: Now I'm really impressed. Denial and guilt at the same time. You need to wake up.
[Cell phone rings]
Kate: Okay. Our client's here. I'm going to see them up. Brady does need your help. But he doesn't need excuses. He doesn't need someone to enable him.
[Cell phone rings]
Ian: I hope you have good news for me.
Man: I think you'll be pleased. I got the pictures you were hoping for. I just sent them to your phone.
Ian: Excellent work. Your check is in the mail.
