Abe: Aw, damn it. [Grunts]
Abe: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, hey, come on in. Come in.
Marlena: Hello, darling.
John: You ready to go?
Abe: Uh, almost, almost, almost.
John: Abraham, wish there was something we could do to make this easier for you, partner.
Abe: You know, I'd be fine if I could just figure out this damn tie.
Marlena: How could you be fine? You can't.
Abe: [Sighs] I don't think I can do this. I'm just not ready to say good-bye.
Brady: I am gonna kill you, you son of a bitch.
Ian: Excuse me?
Brady: I know what you did.
Ian: What I did? What I did? You'll have to be more specific because I'm not following you.
Brady: You set me up, didn't you? You set me up.
Ian: Are you feeling all right?
Brady: No, I'm not feeling all right 'cause you've been slipping me drugs, McAllister, right?
Ian: Drugs, Brady? That's an absurd accusation.
Brady: It's the truth. It's the truth, and you damn well know it.
Ian: You've got yourself in quite a state, young man. I don't think I can discuss this with you until you calm down.
Brady: I'm not going anywhere until you admit to me what you've done.
Rafe: My eyeballs are gonna fall out if I look at these damn files any longer.
Spencer: Take a break. You've been at this long enough.
Roman: Hey. Hi. Got some news. I know you guys didn't get the search for EJ's apartment, so I called in a favor from an old friend, a judge. He said he would work on getting the warrant for us.
Rafe: Yeah? You think you're gonna get it?
Roman: Well, I hope so. He said he'd do his best and he would get back to us within the hour.
Rafe: [Chuckles] Finally. You see, now we're getting somewhere. This could be the breakthrough we need to prove that EJ killed Stefano.
Nicole: Oh, what do we have here? [Gasps] Oh, my God. [Keys rattling] Hey. Good. You're back.
EJ: What are you doing?
Nicole: What--what are you talking about?
EJ: What are you doing off the couch? You're supposed to be resting. I was just, you know, thirsty, and I thought I'd make some tea.
EJ: Yeah? How'd that work out for you?
Nicole: Oh, you weren't kidding with the brandy and the coffee. I mean, come on, what kind of Brit are you? I thought you had a room full of tea or something.
EJ: What are you up to? If I didn't know you better, I'd say you were hiding something.
Nicole: [Scoffs] I'm not hiding-- I'm not hiding something, anything.
EJ: Then why are you acting like that?
Marlena: Wait a minute. You had it. It was already perfect.
Abe: [Chuckling] Thank you. You know, Lexie always tied my tie. Can never get it right.
John: You got take this one day at a time, partner. One day at a time.
Abe: Yeah. Hey, come on. Sit down. Come on. [Sighs] You know, Lexie picked out this tie. I told her--I told her it was too bright, but she insisted, and I caved in like always. Bought it that day. Never wore it. And this morning it sort of caught my eye, and I-I thought, well... I hope she knows I'm finally wearing it.
Marlena: I'm betting she does.
John: Yeah. It's a great tie.
Abe: Yeah. It is. Oh, you know, God... last night, I stayed awake, and I was staring at the bedroom door. I always waited for Lexie to kiss Theo, and she would climb in the bed next to me, and she'd put her cold feet on mine. You know, that--that five minutes, that was our special time. And sometimes when I was mayor and Lexie was hospital chief of staff, that time was--that was all we had to talk about everything that happened during the day, about Theo, and... everything that mattered. At least everything... everything we thought that mattered then. If we had known--
Marlena: Abe, you made the most of the time you had.
Abe: [Sighs] It wasn't enough. I just don't remember... I just don't remember my life before Lexie. I just don't remember who I-- who I am without her.
Nicole: EJ, have you ever fainted before? I mean, one minute you're awake, and the next minute you're not. I'm--it was a little scary, you know. I just got jittery, that's all. Is that dessert?
EJ: Yeah. I got you a slice of Caroline's famous carrot cake.
Nicole: Mmm. Yummy. Let's eat.
EJ: And I'm sorry it took such a long time. The pub was frustratingly slow. I'll get some silverware.
Nicole: Yeah, um, you know, no worries. By the way, I mean, I'm feeling much better now anyway. (Cat purring)
Ian: If you don't calm down, I'm going to call security.
Brady: You couldn't stand to see us happy, could you? Huh? Is that it?
Ian: You're not making any sense.
Brady: It makes sense, Ian. It makes sense. You tried to ruin my life. I figured you out.
Ian: Are you high right now?
Brady: Yeah. Yeah, no thanks to you. I want to know how you did it. How did you get the drugs in my system, huh? Why don't you tell me that?
Ian: I think what you're experiencing is one of the serious side effects of your condition. It's called paranoia.
Brady: I am not paranoid.
Ian: Whatever you say.
Brady: What was it? Why'd you do it? I mean, was it because I got your girl? Was it because I stole your wife, hmm? You upset about that?
Ian: Actually, I gave her to you.
Brady: Well, you must have regretted it 'cause you really came after me with a vengeance, didn't you?
Ian: Wrong again, Mr. Black. You see, I have my business, I have the love of my life, and I get to watch you on a daily basis screwing it up with Madison. Honestly... I couldn't be happier.
Roman: You know, the more you look at that, the slower it'll go.
Rafe: Ha. Oh, really, you think we're gonna get this warrant?
Roman: I hope so. My friend seemed fairly confident.
Spencer: Well, for now let's just focus on what we do have-- a murder board full of suspects. Bo, John, Hope, Marlena... and only a few weeks ago, Stefano tried to blow them all to kingdom come.
Rafe: Yeah. Yeah. I remember that. I was-- I was there.
Spencer: Right, yes, I know you have a history with the DiMera’s, I get that, but listen, just because you want EJ to be guilty doesn't necessarily mean he's our man.
John: Great idea Abe had. Bringing Lexie some of her favorite flowers.
Marlena: Yeah. There were so many days when she would bring a great, big vase of her flowers into the office. I'm-- I'm missing her.
John: Yeah. I know. Think maybe we ought to go in and check on him?
Marlena: No, I think we should just give him some space.
John: It's hard to see him like this. Can't remember the last time I saw that man crying.
Marlena: I know. But it's important that he begin to experience his emotions.
John: Can't stop thinking about the time I thought I lost you... how hard it was to drag myself out of bed every morning, put on that happy face for the twinners, just try to keep moving on. Ah, thank God.
Marlena: We always--we'll always find our way back together.
Nicole: Please tell me you are not gonna make me eat this whole thing.
EJ: You're eating for two now, remember?
Nicole: Yeah. Not for 20. Come on. [Chuckles] Oh, yeah, it's good, isn't it?
Nicole: So, EJ, you've-- you've now inherited half the town, the mansion, the riches.
Nicole: What are you gonna do? Are you gonna sell this place or--
EJ: Mm...mm-mm. I don't think so. I mean, I like it, and the kids are across the hall, so it's convenient.
Nicole: Right. The "kids."
EJ: We have a truce, young lady. That means no sarcasm. Okay? No evil looks, thank you.
Nicole: Mm. This is gonna be a very boring conversation then.
EJ: Do you remember the last time you had all those funny food cravings? Are you having any of those?
Nicole: No, no, not yet.
EJ: What's that thing you used to have? You had a burrito, remember, with maple syrup?
EJ: With maple syrup.
Nicole: Oh, yeah, I do. Not this time. I won't forget a second of that pregnancy. Those memories are all I have left now.
EJ: I know what you mean.
Nicole: Oh, my God.
EJ: What? Is something wrong?
Nicole: The baby. It's kicking.
EJ: It's what?
Nicole: Yeah. Here, wait, wait, feel right--
EJ: Is that the first time? [Laughter] Whoa! There we go. That's amazing.
Nicole: Oh, this is the best.
Brady: I have all the proof I need, you know. I'm gonna bring you down, Ian.
Ian: What proof?
Brady: I took a drug test. You know, to prove to Madison that I was clean, but what do you know, damn it, it came back positive.
Ian: Hmm. Do you know what that proves? You have no willpower. And you've fallen off the wagon.
Brady: There's a problem with that, see. I haven't had a drug. I haven't touched a drug in years. How do you explain that?
Ian: Says the man who is high as a kite.
Brady: It's the truth. You know it's the truth, and you've been setting me up.
Ian: All right. All right. I admit it.
Brady: Yeah. You should admit it.
Ian: I have been sneaking into your room for weeks, and I've been sticking you with needles like a little pin cushion, just trying to get you to relapse. Just as well for me, you and Madison are such sound sleepers. Otherwise, I'd never get away with my diabolical plan.
Brady: Keep laughing. I'm gonna be the man that laughs last, I promise you that.
Ian: Well, until that time comes... stay away from drugs. The word is they're not good for you. In fact, I have heard that they kill.
Rafe: So you think that I am not being objective?
Spencer: No, I don't.
Roman: Okay. All right. You know what, all right, both.
Roman: Let's stop here before we say something we might regret, okay? Now, look, both of you got a point here. Yeah, EJ looks like our guy, but we also have a board full of suspects up there we got to keep in mind.
Rafe: Oh, come on, Roman. You know as well as I do that it's EJ.
Roman: No, I don't, Rafe, and neither do you. That's why we got to look at the evidence and keep this investigation as unbiased as possible.
Spencer: Exactly. Which is why I was assigned to the case in the first place. Now, look, while you've been running around chasing EJ, I've been following up on everyone else. It seems I have discovered some intriguing history on the suspects and our victim.
Spencer: Yes. Are you aware that there's a rumor going around town that Marlena Evans is responsible for putting Stefano DiMera in a coma a few years ago?
Roman: Yeah, but like you said, that is a rumor.
Spencer: Okay, but what about the well-documented case of Stefano being shot by Marlena?
Roman: Stefano kidnapped our kids, for God's sake.
Spencer: Yes, I get that, but what I'm getting to here is there's a pattern. It's Stefano goes after Marlena. She goes after him in retaliation. Perhaps Stefano DiMera's death is just history repeating itself.
Marlena: John? John? [Gasps] I turned around, and you were gone. I thought you were gone.
John: Oh, no, I'm always here. Even when you don't see me. I just found something that reminded me of you. It's beautiful, it's strong. Ooh. Sharp as hell.
Marlena: I'm none of those things without you. I can't believe Lexie's gone.
John: Shh. She's not gone. She's right here in this garden. She's in that house. She's in Theo. She's all around us.
Marlena: Of course you're right.
John: I'm always right. Ever since I married you. It was the rightest thing I have ever done.
Marlena: Well, there is that.
John: I love you, sweetheart.
Marlena: I love you.
John: I love you.
Abe: Hi. Hey.
Abe: Come on in.
Kayla: Well, don't you look handsome. I like that tie.
Abe: Thank you, thank you.
Kayla: Nice. I think I messed it up. Sorry.
Abe: Oh, it's okay.
Kayla: How are you doing?
Abe: Ah, you know, I've had better days, but I'm getting through.
Kayla: Where is everybody?
Abe: Well, John and Marlena are out back and picking flowers for Lexie's grave.
Kayla: Um, I brought you something.
Abe: Yeah? What is it?
Kayla: It's a present from Lexie.
Nicole: Oh. I think the baby's all kicked out. [Chuckles]
EJ: That was, um--
Nicole: I know. There are no words to describe. Gosh, I never thought I would feel this again. You know, I often wonder what... would have been if she had survived.
EJ: Yeah. If you hadn't lied about the miscarriage.
Nicole: Okay, EJ, can we--can we not go there, please? Seriously, we're actually getting along for, like, a minute here. Can you not ruin it?
EJ: We're not getting along, Nicole. We're not getting along, okay? Because you're lying to me now, and you were lying to me then. And I'm sorry. I'm not gonna stand for it anymore. Last time, you were going to do anything to give me a child. And this time you're going to do anything to take a child away from me.
EJ: What are you doing?
Nicole: I'm leaving. Thank you for the carrot cake. You can have the rest.
EJ: Would you just please sit down, Nicole? Look, first of all, you shouldn't be getting up that quickly, darling. You just fainted.
Nicole: I'm fine. I just lost my appetite, so good-bye.
EJ: Just wait--can I just say something, please?
Nicole: What could you possibly say now to make things better, hmm?
EJ: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Look, what happened happened, you know. I'm not angry about it anymore. I don't know why I got upset. I mean, I've forgiven you for what you did.
Nicole: Then why did you bring it up?
EJ: Because I just feel like we're back in the same place again.
Nicole: EJ, come on.
EJ: Can you not just see this baby is an opportunity to have a second chance, to have that, you know, family that we wanted to have that was stolen from us last time. I love you. All you have to do is say that this is my baby. That's it. And we can have that family, Nicole. Hmm? Please.
Nicole: EJ. I told you. I told you the truth. Over and over again, but you just don't want to hear it.
Abe: What's this?
Kayla: Lexie wanted me to give it to you the day of her funeral.
Marlena: We'll give you some privacy.
Abe: No, no, please stay. I don't think I can face this alone.
Lexie: Hi, honey. Well, I made you a video. I hope you don't mind. I've made so many for Theo that I thought I'd make one for you too. I know today is going to be hard for you. And I won't ask you not to be sad. That wouldn't be fair. But I will ask you... not to dwell on what we've lost, but to remember all the things we've shared. I remember our wedding day. Oh, that was the happiest day of my life. Because I got to marry you. My lover. My best friend. We've had 23 years together, honey. Not all of them easy, but all of them definitely, definitely worthwhile. I have loved every minute of our life together. And, when we had this one, our little angel, the day we brought Theo home from the hospital, our lives became complete. He's such a special little boy. And he is gonna grow up to be an incredible man. Just like his daddy. So today, I want you to think of all the wonderful gifts that we have been given and celebrate. Celebrate the love that we've shared, Abe. And know that I don't regret a single second of my life. How could I? I got to spend it with you. Someday we'll be together again.
Abe: I know.
Lexie: Ooh, and one more thing. Please, please, please, please, please do not walk out that door without having someone check your tie. [Laughter] Oh, sweetheart. I love you... with all my heart. Until we meet again, my love.
Abe: I love you, Lexie.
Ian: Do you know what I think, Brady? I think you're in denial. I don't think you want to take responsibility for your actions.
Brady: Don't you put this on me. You did this to me.
Ian: Mm. I'm gonna help you. I'd like to. I'm gonna book you into a rehabilitation facility somewhere out of town. I'll keep it off the books. That way, there will be no public humiliation.
Brady: You know, you'd love that, wouldn't you? That'd be great. You'd be the hero. Brady would be locked away. Then you could have Madison all to yourself. What a great idea.
Ian: I've had Madison all to myself for years. I don't want her anymore. Now do you want my help, or don't you?
Brady: You don't want to help me. You want to get rid of me. But here's the deal. I'm not going anywhere.
EJ: Are you-- are you ready for the service?
Abe: You know, actually I am. But first there's something I want to ask you.
Kayla: I know he's Lexie's brother, but I don't trust him.
EJ: I-I would be honored to be a pallbearer. Thank you very much for asking.
Abe: Of course. You're Lexie's brother. She loved you, EJ. You know that, right?
EJ: Despite my many faults, she always saw the best in me. Abraham, look, she may not be here... but you and I are family, so... we look out for one another, okay?
Abe: I couldn't agree more.
Roman: Frank, what do you got for me? All right. I see. Okay. Well, thank you for getting back to me so fast. You too.
Roman: Couldn't get it done.
Rafe: Damn it! Without that warrant, we're not gonna get EJ. You realize that? We need the warrant.
Nicole: You don't need a warrant. You got me.
Nicole: And, boy, do I have a surprise for you.
Rafe: What did I tell you, Nicole? Hmm? What did I tell--I told you not to get involved, okay? Now this here, see, this is an official murder investigation. We can't have people out there, civilians, mind you, breaking into people's houses and stealing evidence.
Nicole: I didn't break in. EJ invited me in.
Rafe: Did you steal something?
Nicole: What does it matter? I found something you need to link EJ to Stefano's murder.
Roman: Which we would have found once we got the warrant.
Nicole: [Laughs] I'm sorry. You know you'll never get that warrant, right?
Roman: Why do you say that?
Nicole: Roman, you know the answer to that. Look, DiMera has more men on the inside than he does on the out. So? Do you want to see what I found?
Roman: We can't. I mean, if we don't have a warrant, we can't use that in court anyway.
Nicole: All right. Suit yourselves.
Rafe: All right, just wait. Just--
Roman: Rafe. Think about what you're doing.
Rafe: No, I am thinking. That's the whole point. Because she's right. She's right, Roman. We're never gonna get the damn warrant. Now whatever evidence she has, she's already tampered with it anyway, so we can't use it, so we might as well look, so it can point us in the right direction. Right?
Roman: Right. You got it.
Nicole: Okay, so while EJ was out getting me a piece of carrot cake... it's a long story. I searched the entire place, and unfortunately, I mean, it's pretty empty. Until I found... this. So? What do you think?
Ian: What happened to you, Brady? When I first met you, you were so collected. You were arrogant and hotheaded, but you were collected. Now look at you. You're such a mess.
Brady: Stop. Don't you put this on me. This is all your fault, what's going on with me.
Ian: Well, so you keep saying. But we both know the truth, don't we? You just can't handle the pressure.
Brady: What pressure?
Ian: Well, you're with a woman who's far out of your league. Madison, she's beautiful, she's smart, she's successful. And what are you? Trust fund baby. You leech off the talents of your family.
Brady: Madison loves me very much, Ian. She loves me very much.
Ian: Well, that may be so, but I just wonder, will she love you with this ridiculous addiction? I don't think so.
Brady: She loves me. I'm keeping her. No matter what you do.
Roman: Nicole, look, we appreciate your effort, okay, but this really isn't evidence. I mean, a lot of people own guns.
Nicole: I lived with EJ, remember? He doesn't just leave boxes of bullets lying around the house. And if he wants someone dead, he hires someone else to do it.
Rafe: Nicole, would you mind if I speak to the commissioner alone for a moment?
Nicole: Okay. I'll just be right outside if you need me.
Rafe: Roman, we can't dismiss this. I mean, EJ happens to have a box of bullets that match the murder weapon? The weapon used to kill our victim? Oh, and there happens to be one bullet missing?
Roman: Rafe, come on. We already know the murder weapon belonged to Abe. He brought it to the house that night. It was already loaded. And we know that it was only fired once. So come on, hey, it doesn't make sense, all right?
Rafe: Okay, I know that--
Roman: Rafe, it doesn't make sense. I'm sorry. We got nothing here. Nothing.
Rafe: Okay, you're right. Maybe we've got nothing. But we certainly have some interesting questions, don't we? Like, for instance, why does EJ have a box of bullets that happened to fit the murder weapon? Oh, and why was he hiding them? Hmm? Why? Roman.
Ian: Feel better?
Ian: I thought so. Do I need to get an ambulance?
Brady: I'm fine. I'm fine.
Ian: Well, I hate to leave you like this, but I have a meeting I have to go to.
Brady: I'll let myself out.
Ian: Good. Oh, and, Brady... I will be billing you for all of this damage.
Ian: Take your hand off me.
Brady: Let me tell you something. I know what you did. And I'm gonna prove it. You understand?
Ian: Good luck.
John: Let's go.
Abe: All right. Oh, hey, I forgot my keys. I'll meet you in the car.
John: All right.
Abe: Oh, Lex. Oh, I miss you. I just feel like half my heart is missing. I just can't imagine how I'm going to go on. But I made you a promise. I'm going to keep it. I'm going to make you proud. [Sighs] I love you, baby.
Nicole: So case closed?
Rafe: [Chuckles] Unfortunately, since the bullets came into our possession illegally, there's nothing much we can do with them.
Nicole: Well, maybe not in court, but it proves that EJ had intent, right?
Roman: Not necessarily, no. As of right now, we've got nothing that links these bullets to the murder.
Rafe: Well, but we know that there is a link. We just have to figure out what it is.
Nicole: Okay, you do believe that EJ is guilty, don't you?
Rafe: Well, I know that EJ is hiding something. And I'm not gonna stop till I find out what it is.
