Sonny: Stefano DiMera's murder is all anyone's talking about today.

Will: I know.

Sonny: How's Chad doing?

Will: I don't know. A mess, probably.

Sonny: Yeah, and I feel for him. I know he wasn't close to his dad, but can you imagine, like, losing one of your parents?

Will: No.

Sonny: Yeah. And EJ, I thought he'd be on the TV, like, talking about revenge and justice, but... I guess he's taking it hard too.

Will: Yeah, I wouldn't know.

Sonny: What do you mean you wouldn't know? Didn't you talk to him?

Will: No.

Sonny: No? You guys-- I thought you guys were bro’s. Aren't you tight?

Will: No, we were, but I don't know, pretty mad at me. He fired me, actually.

Sonny: Wait, what happened?

Will: Stefano. He ruined everything.

Hope: Hey, hi, yeah.

Marlena: Hi, come on in.

Bo: Hey.

Hope: Hi, John.

John: Hey, what's going on?

Bo: We have information on the murder.

John: Yeah? Yeah? What's up?

Hope: Yeah, the, uh, ballistics report's back on the gun found at the scene.

Bo: We know it was Abe's because of the serial number, but now the police have proof that that was the gun used to kill Stefano.

John: I see. So, what're you saying? They think Abe did it?

Marlena: Has he been arrested?

Bo: [Chuckles] Yeah. Here's the kicker. Abe's weren't the only prints on the gun.

John: Who's the other person?

Hope: You mean "persons." Plural.

Bo: The lab found matches for seven other prints on that gun. Including the four of us.

Nicole: Don't tell me to calm down, okay? It's not possible for me to calm down right now.

Rafe: Nicole... I'm sorry. Okay? I'm--

Nicole: No, no. Please, please don't apologize.

Rafe: No, look--I thought worst-case scenario, we would figure out a way to switch these damn DNA test results so that EJ didn't know he was the father of this baby. Doesn't look like that's gonna happen.

Daniel: I believe you're switching a DNA test. Were you? Do you really think you can get away with it?

Nicole: Yes. No, I-I don't know. I don't-- I'm just scared, Daniel. What am I gonna do when EJ finds out this baby is his? Oh, who am I kidding? Ah, God! You know, you--you-- you did the noble thing. You--you stepped up, and--and claimed to be the daddy, and I think I just-- I always knew that EJ was gonna find out the truth. And guess what, today's the day. Yay! I just-- I can't wait for this to be over.

Rafe: I just wish there was something else that I could do.

Nicole: You have done so much for me already. You've taken care of me, you listened to me, and I will never-- I will never forget that. But you know what, your responsibilities are over... as of today.

Rafe: Maybe not. Maybe not. EJ's father just died. Maybe he won't show up. You know?

Nicole: Yeah, I wish. But nothing is gonna stop EJ from claiming this kid. Not even his father's death.

EJ: Roman, I didn't kill my father, and if I knew who did, I wouldn't keep quiet about it.

Roman: Unless, of course, the person who killed your father was, uh, well, you.

Sami: Oh, Dad, you can't be serious. Everyone knows how close he was to his dad.

EJ: He's my father, Roman. I don't have any motive to kill him. What's that?

Roman: Your motive.

Nicole: Daniel, hi.

Daniel: Hi. Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you.

Nicole: Uh, that's okay. I mean, this is your office. I'm just a little jittery today, that's all.

Daniel: Yeah. Well, the test results should be ready in a minute, and this'll all be over soon.

Nicole: Yeah, well, I already know what they're gonna say. This is just the beginning of my living hell, so...

Rafe: Hey, hey. Come on, come on, who knows? Maybe now that Stefano's gone, EJ won't be such a bastard.

Nicole: [Scoffs]

Rafe: Hmm?

Nicole: No, Rafe, I'm-- I'm afraid he's gonna be the opposite. Losing his father, I'm afraid, is just gonna make EJ even harder, and... now he's gonna have all the DiMera family money and power, and when he finds out that this baby is his, nothing is gonna stop him from taking my child. You get that?

Rafe: Okay, okay.

EJ: It's my father's will.

Roman: Yup. And you will notice there have been some recent revisions there, most notably, you have been taken completely out of that will. Sounds like a motive to kill, doesn't it?

Sami: But did you know about that, EJ?

EJ: No, I did not. I don't think it's any secret that my Father and I have not been getting on lately, but this--this--this document has no weight, Roman. It hasn't been executed. There isn't a witness. There's no legal grounds for this. It's just a prop for my father's amusement.

Roman: What do you mean, prop?

EJ: It's one of those things he'd wave under my nose from time to time just to satisfy himself. He was always threatening to disinherit me for one reason or another. It's the game that he would play. You know my father. He loved to play these little games. Roman, he didn't execute this. He never would.

Roman: Maybe because you made sure he wouldn't.

EJ: Commissioner, I'm going to suggest to you that you need a much tighter case if you're seriously thinking of accusing me of my father's murder.

Roman: Well, how's this for a tighter case? Your fingerprints were found on the murder weapon.

John: Hmm. So...all of us are suspects.

Hope: That's right. That's why Bo and I are on the case. Roman's handling the investigation himself until the governor sends his own investigator.

Bo: The only reason we know about this report is because I got a buddy in forensics.

John: So at some point last night, each of us handled Abraham's gun. Does that mean--

Marlena: Yes. Yes. I went to the mansion.

John: [Sighs]

Marlena: I had some things I wanted to get off my chest, so I confronted him. And I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you the truth about it.

John: No, obviously, I wasn't completely honest with you either.

Marlena: John, why did you go there?

John: Same reason. I went to confront him.

Hope: Apparently... we all did.

Bo: So where does that leave us?

EJ: I was at the mansion last night. I went there to see my father. And yes, I saw a gun sitting there. But as my father was nowhere to be seen, I just left.

Roman: When we talked earlier, why didn't you mention any of this?

EJ: 'Cause I knew that you would misunderstand it and twist it around into making me look guilty.

Roman: Well, I don't think a whole lot of twisting is required.

EJ: Okay, so are you going to arrest me or not?

Roman: No, I'm not, but I do need you to come down to the station, take a gunshot residue test.

EJ: Perfect.

Roman: And, Mr. Mayor, this would not be a good time for an out-of-town junket. Don't leave Salem. And if, perchance, you happen to remember anything that's useful, you call me.

EJ: Let me make something clear to you. I want the man or woman who killed my father caught just as much as you do.

Roman: I'm not sure about that.

EJ: Roman, my Father and I may not have always had a perfect relationship, but he's my flesh and blood, and you know that, to a DiMera, that means everything.

Nicole: Well, Rafe, the good thing about the truth coming out is you don't have to lie for me anymore. You're a--you're a free man. You're no longer tied to me because of our baby.

Rafe: Oh, really? I'm not a free man. I told you I wasn't worried about that.

Nicole: I know, I'll just always feel so bad for coming between you and Carrie.

Rafe: Don't--no. No, Carrie and I--we just weren't meant to be. She's having Austin's baby and, uh, everything works out for a reason.

[Cell phone rings]

Rafe: Hmm, it's Roman. I should probably take this.

Nicole: Yeah.

Rafe: Excuse me. Yeah.

Daniel: Nicole, I want to talk to you... about what happened last night.

Rafe: What's that? You want to reinstate me?

Roman: Yeah, with Bo and Hope gone, I need all the help I can get on the Stefano murder case.

Rafe: Yeah, but the I.S.A.?

Roman: Got it all worked out with Shane. You were working on bringing down Stefano, now you're working to find his killer. And besides that, when that state investigator comes down here, it'll ease my mind knowing I've got one of my people on the case. And not just anybody. One of the best detectives we've ever had.

Rafe: [Chuckles] Well... thanks a lot for the compliment, and the opportunity.

Roman: Well, don't thank me yet. I got a feeling we've got a long, hard road ahead of us.

EJ: Earlier, you said you thought I had reason to want my father dead. Do you believe Roman? Think I did it?

Sami: No. No, I don't. EJ, I know how you felt about your dad. [Chuckles] It was clear what he meant to you, and that you were willing to do anything over the years to follow him, do what he asked... be part of him and his work. And look, EJ, you are 50 shades of messed up, but I get it. I get how you care about him. I get what you're going through.

EJ: Thank you.

Sami: And I know how important family is to you.

EJ: [Sighs] Yeah. Speaking of family... [Sighs] Today's the day the results of Nicole's paternity test come in, so...

Sami: [Scoffs]

EJ: I should probably get going. Get to prove that I'm the father of that child and not Rafe.

Sami: Well, let me know how it goes.

EJ: I will. Hey. Thank you.

Sonny: So, what do you-- what do you mean, that Stefano-- he--he blackmailed you to break up EJ and Nicole? How?

Will: By making sure that Rafe found out that my Mom and EJ had sex. And he knew that EJ would be confronted by Rafe, and Nicole would find out, and she would break up with him. Which is exactly what happened.

Sonny: Rafe found out the day at the pub... when he overheard us talking?

Will: Yeah.

Sonny: So your--your big confession to me was for Rafe's benefit, huh? You used me to carry out an order from Stefano?

Will: No, I didn't. I promise I-I-I didn't. I-I--that wasn't my plan. I needed someone to talk to, and I really wanted to talk to you, and it was just a--it was a complete coincidence that Rafe walked in. And I don't know, I thought it was, like, a now-or-never moment. And I could--I could let him overhear, and I wouldn't have to tell him to his face.

Sonny: That's twisted, man. That's really twisted. It's like, you let Stefano order you around... and it broke up your mom's marriage.

Will: I know, I'm sorry. I-I made--I-I'm-- I screwed up.

Sonny: Yeah, you did.

Will: But I don't want you to feel like I used you in any of this, because-- because I didn't. I-I-I really have appreciated, you know, you being there, and you listening to me. I mean, it's-- I guess what I'm saying is I'm-- I'm sorry, and maybe I could make it up to you. Maybe I can earn your forgiveness.

Sonny: Yeah, yeah.

Will: Yeah? Okay.

Sonny: Yeah, of course.

Will: Great, great, great.

Sonny: Of course.

Will: Okay, because thanks to Stefano, I just-- I don't know, I lost a lot. I lost my apartment, I lo-- I'm homeless, basically. I lost my job. I lost EJ's trust. I don't know. And when I think about everything he's done to me, and everything he's done to my family, I'm glad he's dead.

Sonny: Whoa, hey, don't-- don't be saying stuff like that. People are gonna think that you actually killed Stefano.

Will: You don't think I offed Stefano, do you?

Sonny: No, but I just don't wanna see you get in trouble. And because your friendship means a lot to me.

Sami: Will, there you are. I've left a million messages for you.

Will: Why?

Sami: What do you mean, why? Your dad told me that he saw you last night, and how upset you were. We've been really worried about you.

Will: Everything's fine, Mom. If--you could've seen, if you even acknowledged, I'm, um, hanging out with Sonny.

Sami: Right. Hi, Sonny.

Sonny: Hey.

Sami: It's good to see you.

Sonny: Good to see you.

Sami: Um...

Sonny: I'll let you guys--

Sami: Yeah. So, Will, you know, if you could answer any of my phone calls, I want to help.

Will: Help? I don't need your help.

Sami: But--

Will: Just 'cause I came out doesn't mean I need any help.

Sami: I didn't say that.

Will: Not your help, anyway.

Sami: I'm your mother. I'm not offering to help you because you're gay, I'm offering to help you because I think you need it.

Will: Okay. What exactly do you think I need help with?

Sami: [Sighs]

Will: Oh, I mean, anything you want to say, you can say in front of Sonny. Unless that makes you, uh, uncomfortable.

Sami: Will, get this through your head: I love you. I love you no matter what.

Will: Really? No matter what. Hey, come here. What if I told you that, um, Sonny and I, um, are together... and we're in love? Huh? Is that okay with you... us being together?

Nicole: I assume you're referring to our kiss.

Daniel: Well, actually, right now, I want to talk to you about that, uh-- oh, that little switcheroo you tried to do on the paternity test.

Nicole: Daniel, look, I told you I was sorry, okay? I was desperate and scared--

Daniel: Okay, you know what? I don't want to hear any more excuses. Listen to me.

Nicole: I didn't--oh, God.

[Knock at door]

EJ: [Sighs] Sorry I'm late. I'm sure you can appreciate it's been a bit of a rough day.

Nicole: It's okay. We understand. Please accept my condolences for your loss. I know how much your father meant to you.

EJ: Thanks.

Daniel: We're all sorry to hear about your father's death.

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah. Very sorry.

EJ: So, let's get down to business, shall we? You have the test results?

Daniel: Yes. Let me run down to the, uh, lab and get them now.

EJ: We both know what those results are gonna say, Nikki. You're carrying my child. I'm going to be a part of its life whether you like it or not.

Marlena: All right, we were all there. But eight people. Abe, the four of us. Who else was there?

Bo: Junior, Kate... and get this. Will.

Marlena: Will was there? That's not possible. What was he doing there?

Hope: We're not sure. We don't know.

Marlena: Wait a minute. No, that's-- Will could never hurt anybody. He could never kill a-- none of us could, could we?

[Knock at door]

Marlena: Hi, Roman.

Roman: Hey.

Hope: Morning.

Roman: Bo, Hope, I didn't expect to see you here.

John: I wasn't expecting to see you either, Roman.

Roman: Huh. Well, everybody, this is Officer Kent. She's working with me on the DiMera case, helping to make sure proper procedure is followed, no bias occurs before the state investigator takes over.

Kent: Hello.

Marlena: Morning.

Hope: Good morning.

Bo: How are you?

Roman: We are here to ask you all a few questions.

[Cell phone rings]

Kent: Oh, it's the station. Okay if I take this out in the hall?

Roman: Sure, absolutely. Now, I hope I haven't walked in on some kind of cover-up.

Bo: Cover-up? Roman, we haven't done anything wrong.

Roman: Why should I believe you? All four of you have already lied to me about where you were last night.

Bo: Right, um, sorry. That was wrong.

Roman: You think? Why in the hell would you do something so stupid? You had to know I'd find out.

Marlena: I'm sorry, Roman, I should've told you the truth.

John: Yup. Wife's right.

Hope: Yeah, Roman, we're really sorry. We--we all should've come forward from the beginning.

Roman: Do you have any idea how bad this looks? So I gotta know. I gotta know right now, and you all need to be honest with me this time, for your own sake. Did somebody in this room murder Stefano DiMera?

Sami: Will, I didn't think you could surprise me again, so soon. [Clears throat] Uh, so you two are in a relationship?

Will: How do you feel about that?

Sami: I'd like to get to know Sonny better, but you seem like a great guy. Um... is it serious?

Will: Well, we--

Sonny: Will you just stop? Like, seriously, seriously. I'm really sorry. He's just telling you this stuff to see how you'd react. We're not together. And now that he's used me again, I don't even know if we're friends.

Will: Oh, hey, I'm sorry. I-I'm not--I'm j--I'm trying to make a point that eventually Mom's gonna have to deal with me being in a relationship with another man.

Sonny: Yeah, but she's obviously trying to get used to the idea of you being gay. Don't make it harder than it needs to be, Will.

Sami: Thank you, Sonny.

Sonny: It's like, it took Will a long time to get comfortable with who he is. And I think it's only fair that his mom gets some time as well.

Sami: I appreciate that. Will, I meant what I said. I love you no matter what.

Roman: Again, did somebody in this room murder Stefano DiMera?

John: Roman, you know, I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that none of us are sorry the old man's dead. Now, with that said, none of us shot him.

Roman: Okay. But I need you all to come down to the station for a gunshot residue test.

Bo: Yeah, sure.

Roman: And I know I don't need to remind you of this, but for the record, don't leave town.

John: Got it.

[Door opens, closes]

John: [Groans]

Daniel: Are we all ready for the, uh, test results?

Rafe: Yeah.

EJ: Please.

Daniel: According to the lab results, the father of Ms. Walker's baby is... Rafe Hernandez.

EJ: What?

Rafe: Huh.

EJ: You're lying.

Daniel: It's all right there. Sorry. The father of Nicole's baby is Rafe.

EJ: You changed the test results.

Rafe: [Scoffs]

Nicole: What? How could I have done that? They came straight from the lab. EJ, it's like I've told you all along, Rafe is the father, not you.

EJ: Nicole, we're just going to get another test.

Nicole: Oh, I don't think so. I have humored you enough. No one's sticking another needle in my belly. You've got that? Don't be such a sore loser.

EJ: This is not a game, sweetheart.

Nicole: I know.

EJ: Do you really? Don't do this. Please. Don't deprive me of my child. You know it's wrong. You know I'm a good father. Can you please just admit the truth so we can put all of this behind us?

Sonny: Here you go.

Sami: Thank you so much, Sonny. I really appreciate you offering to let me join in.

Sonny: Oh, that's no problem. And I want you to know you're welcome here any time.

Sami: That's nice to hear.

Sonny: Yes.

Sami: Thank you. Why aren't you dating him, Will?

Will: [Clears throat] Mom.

Sami: Oh... um, anyway, I, uh-- I actually was also thinking to make an offer to you today.

Will: Okay, what is it?

Sami: Uh, Lucas told me last night that one of the reasons you were, um... upset was that what happened with EJ means you don't have an apartment anymore. So I was thinking you could stay at mine. And I have an extra room, you'd totally have a room to yourself.

Will: Um, thanks, but no, thank you.

Sonny: Will, come on, just... at least take a second to think about it. It's a pretty good offer.

Will: Okay, well, I'll think about it, and then I'll get back to you.

Roman: [Clears throat]

Sami: Dad. What're you doing here?

Roman: Uh, we need to speak to Will...alone, if we could.

Sami: Why? What's this about?

Roman: It's about Stefano's murder.

EJ: Nicole, I've already lost so much. Please don't take my child away from me.

Rafe: [Scoffs]

Nicole: Could EJ and I have a moment alone, please?

Daniel: Okay, if, uh, that's what you want, but just remember the stress is not good for you or the baby. Okay?

Nicole: Okay.

Rafe: I will be right outside the door, okay?

Nicole: I know that you're hurting.

EJ: Nicole, I'm losing everything I love in my life. I've lost you. I lost my father. My sister is dying. Don't take this child away from me, please.

Nicole: I'm sorry for your losses, EJ, and I-I wish I could take the pain away, but the lab tests don't lie.

EJ: Be with me anyway. I don't care. I meant it. I'll raise that child whether it's mine or not.

Nicole: It's too late. The test results prove that there is nothing left between us, EJ. I wish you would accept that.

EJ: I cannot. And I won't.

Nicole: I'm sorry to hear that. You should go.

EJ: It's not over between us, Nicole. It's never going to be over between you and me.

Nicole: Oh, my God. God. [Sobs] Oh, God.

Bo: All right, we'll go down to the station and get our gunshot residue test.

John: Sounds good. We're right behind you. I gotta make a business call first.

Hope: All right, we'll talk later.

John: All right. [Sighs]

Marlena: Oh!

John: Hey, it's okay. It's okay.

Marlena: I'm so glad he's dead, I'm so glad he's dead. But I'm scared. Looks like somebody we know and love maybe killed him, and that could mean life in prison.

John: Yeah, it hardly seems fair. Especially since they performed such a noble public service.

Marlena: Yeah.

John: You know, the bottom line is the man pushed so many people to the breaking point, I don't blame anybody for killing him.

Marlena: Now, you remember that I-- I shot him... when he kidnapped the twins. So I-I really understand how-- how somebody can be so angry they can't see straight.

John: Doc... are you saying that--

Marlena: No--oh, no, no! No, honey, oh, my gosh, no, no. I didn't shoot him this time. I'm just saying that I could understand--completely understand how somebody could.

Roman: So like I said, if you all don't mind, we'd like to speak with Will alone.

Sonny: Yeah, I'm gonna get outta your way. I got some inventory to do in the back. See you later, Will.

Sami: Dad, I'm not going anywhere.

Roman: Is that good with you, Will, that your mom stays?

Will: Yeah, that's fine.

Roman: The forensics came back on the gun that killed Stefano. Your fingerprints are on it.

Sami: Dad, no way. There is no way that gun that Will had last night had anything to do with Stefano's murder.

Rafe: How in God's name did this happen, huh?

Nicole: [Chuckles] I don't know. I mean, there--there must've been some sort of mix-up, but I'm really not gonna question it, because I got my miracle.

Rafe: Oh, you sure did.

Nicole: Yeah.

Rafe: No questions, huh? Doc? Nothing?

Nicole: No.

Rafe: Okay. Well, you know I'm gonna get to the bottom of this, right? Okay, well, listen, right now, I've got to get down to the police station and fill out some forms.

Nicole: Why?

Rafe: Well, best I can tell, I'm back on the force.

Nicole: Congratulations. I guess we both have something to celebrate.

Rafe: Well, we sure do.

Nicole: Yeah.

Rafe: Oh, my God, I'm so glad that things worked out for you, Nicole.

Nicole: Oh, God, me too.

Rafe: Yeah. All right, well, uh, take care. Take care of yourselves there.

Nicole: Okay.

Rafe: All right? I'll see you soon.

[Door closes]

Nicole: Daniel, you are a wonderful, wonderful man. [Sighs]

Daniel: I think one "wonderful" is enough.

Nicole: Oh, God. Go ahead. I-- I-I can't believe this, Daniel. I just--I don't--I don't understand.

Daniel: What?

Nicole: What? What do you mean, "what"? I mean, you--you came in here, and you--you caught me messing with the DNA samples, and you read me the riot act. Why didn't you change the labels back?

Daniel: Saw how terrified you were. And I realized I'm the only person in a position to help you. You're right, you're absolutely right. Being raised by a DiMera would only lead to a painful childhood.

Nicole: Especially if EJ cut me out of my child's life. I can't even bear to think about it.

Daniel: Yeah. Well, let me, uh, just tell you this. It was not a decision I took lightly. 'Cause I have been through every facet of this--as a father, as a son--and I can tell you it's painful.

Nicole: I know. Between finding out that Parker wasn't yours, and Maggie being your biological mother, I mean, it's-- that's why I can't believe you did this.

Daniel: Two words. "DiMera family." The last thing I want to see is EJ take your baby the way Stefano took EJ from his mother.

Nicole: Thank you.

Daniel: Stefano was a bastard. And now he's dead. And he groomed EJ in his image, and your child deserves a hell of a lot better than that.

Nicole: Thank you, Daniel. And I know that you are risking your career by letting me fix those DNA tests.

Daniel: You know what? I don't really care about that. 'Cause all I'm concerned about is the well-being of your child.

Nicole: You are the best. And I don't know what I would've done without you.

John: All right. Finished my call. You ready to go down to the station and take that damn test?

Marlena: Sure, mm-hmm.

John: What's in the bag?

Marlena: Nothing, just stuff for the women's shelter. I'll take it by later.

John: Hmm. Let's go get that test over with.

Bo: Okay, I've taken the test. Now let's get the hell outta here.

Hope: Uh, well, just a--uh-- I--

Bo: What?

Hope: If you shot Stefano, you'd tell me, wouldn't you?

Bo: Yeah, sure. And you'd do the same, right?

Hope: Of course, absolutely.

Bo: Okay. Then we got nothing to worry about, right?

Hope: Right.

Roman: All right, so wait a minute here, let me get this straight. You saw Will carrying around a gun last night?

Sami: No. Uh, Lucas did. But he took it away from Will very early in the evening, so I'm just making it clear that it couldn't possibly be the gun that was used to kill Stefano.

Roman: Well, actually, the gun that was used to kill Stefano belongs to Abe.

Sami: Oh! Well, then--how could Will's fingerprints possibly be on Abe's gun?

Roman: That is exactly what I would like to know. Obviously, Will was there, because Abe said he left the gun at the mansion. And Will came in contact with the murder weapon. So, Will, talk to me. Why were you at the DiMera mansion last night?
