EJ: You took away everything that had any meaning to me. Well, I'm not going to allow you to get away with that anymore.
Abe: Lexie is sick because of you. The most important person in my life, in my son's life, is going to die.
Hope: As long as you're around, I will never be safe. My husband and children will never be safe.
John: I'm here to make you pay... for trying to kill my wife... my friends... and me.
Marlena: There will be retribution.
Will: What did I ever do to you? Nothing. Absolutely nothing! But you didn't think twice about destroying my life!
Kate: I will not let you control my life anymore... not anymore.
Bo: We're gonna have justice right here, right now. Your reign of terror ends tonight.
[Knock at door]
Ian: Kate... how was your walk?
EJ: William... you seem to be in quite the hurry. Running from somebody, are you?
Abe: Oh, uh, hey. What are you doing out of bed?
Lexie: Ah... I couldn't sleep.
Abe: Well, can I get you a sleeping pill? Maybe that'll help.
Lexie: No. No, not tonight. I could use a hug.
Abe: Oh, a hug it is.
Lexie: Ooh, oh, you're all wet.
Abe: Oh, yeah, I am. Sorry.
Lexie: Honey, is everything okay? I mean, you seem a little jumpy.
Abe: Uh, no. I'm fine.
Lexie: Okay. All right, 'cause, you know... you know you can tell me anything, right? Sweetheart, if something happened, I want to know.
Officer: Commissioner? Call for you on line one.
Roman: Take a message.
Officer: Sir, you're gonna want to take this.
Roman: Commissioner Brady. What can I do for you? Say that again. Repeat that! Repeat that! Hello?
Chad: Hey. Oh, hey.
[Cell phone rings]
Chad: Ooh, oh, there she is.
Chad: Uh, Gabi. I asked her to start checking in with me at set times just to make sure that we always know she's safe. Hey, there you are.
Gabi: Hey, I'm sorry I'm a few minutes late.
Chad: No, that's all right. Is everything okay?
Gabi: Yeah. I'm just leaving my study group now.
Chad: Okay, uh, but you're not alone, right?
Gabi: Right, um, my friend is gonna drop me off. I'll see you in a few minutes.
Chad: Okay, cool. I'll see you soon. [Sighs relieved] Okay, no worries. Uh, she is stalker-free and on her way.
Gabi: Okay, here is the rest of the money I owe you.
Andrew: Thanks. You know I've had some ideas.
Andrew: Yeah. About how to take this stalker thing to another level.
Gabi: Andrew, um, listen, I really appreciate you doing this, but let's just stick with the plan. It's working just fine.
Andrew: Come on, we can bring it to another level.
Gabi: No. That's okay. I'll call you, though.
Chad: You know, I-I-I've been thinking about this whole Gabi situation a lot.
Melanie: Yeah. Uh, we all have.
Chad: Right, um... maybe we should come at this from a different angle.
Melanie: What do you mean?
Chad: Well, why don't we ask him for help?
Melanie: I don't think that's a good idea.
Will: I'm not running from anyone.
EJ: You look scared.
Will: I'm not scared. Or maybe it's because the last time we saw each other, you threatened me.
EJ: You're hiding something, William.
Will: [Chuckles] Why do you care? I don't work for you. I ruined your life, remember?
EJ: I don't care. Just curious.
Will: Okay. Are we done?
Marlena: You know, I-I got home, and you were gone.
John: Yeah, sorry about that. I remembered there was something I had to do.
Marlena: What was that?
John: Nothing much--just pick up a few odds and ends. You know, I actually, um... I-I-I tried to wait here until you got home, but you were--you were gone so long.
Marlena: Oh, I'm sorry. I had a--client ran over and then, um... then I got stuck in the rain.
John: Yeah, nasty out there, huh?
Marlena: It's so nasty out there. Wow.
John: Well, I'm glad you made it home safe.
Kate: You're right. The weather wasn't exactly conducive to a relaxing walk. Should we get back to work?
Ian: We can. Unless you want to talk. Maybe you've got something on your mind.
Kate: Like what?
Ian: Stefano, of course.
Ian: The divorce papers, the non-compete clause. I'm all ears if you want to get it off your chest.
Kate: No, there's nothing I want to talk about. And I certainly don't want to talk about Stefano, not tonight. [Sighs] Besides... we have a lot of work to do, don't we?
Abe: You know, I'm just tired, that's all. So, uh, tell me-- tell me about those nightmares.
Lexie: I don't remember much. I just know I wake up in a cold sweat, you know, thinking about my father, feeling sad... disappointed.
Abe: I'm so sorry, sweetheart.
Lexie: It's obviously my mind's way of coping with what he did. But... when I wake up feeling lost... all I have to do is roll over, and there you are... my protector... by my side.
Abe: You know, I promise... I'll always be there. I'll never let anyone hurt you... never again.
Bo: What are you doing here? I thought you were at home.
Hope: I was. Got too quiet.
Bo: Yeah. House does get quiet when Ciara's on a sleepover.
Hope: That is for sure. And since you weren't home, I thought, you know, maybe I'd just stop by here, grab myself a cup of coffee.
Bo: Sorry I didn't make it home.
Hope: No, it's fine. Did you finish your errands?
Bo: Yep... all taken care of.
[Cell phone rings]
Bo: [Clears throat] Brady.
Roman: Yeah, Bo, it's me. Are you there with Hope?
Bo: Yeah, I'm looking at her.
Roman: Okay, I need you both to come over to the DiMera mansion.
Bo: Why? What's going on?
Roman: I'll explain when you get here. Let's just say there's been a development.
Bo: Uh... Roman wants us to go over to the DiMera mansion.
[Coffee cup thuds]
Chad: Melanie, come on. I think this is our best option right now.
Gabi: What's our best option?
Melanie: Oh, Chad wants to talk to his father about your stalker.
Chad: Well, I don't think it's that big of a deal.
Melanie: Really? Your dad is dangerous and corrupt. What kind of advice is he gonna give you-- put a hit out on the guy?
Chad: Look, my father has contacts, and I just want to make sure none of them have heard anything or... maybe we can get a positive I.D. on the guy--I don't know.
Melanie: So your dad can kill him?
Chad: You know what? Just--just stop, okay? We get a name, we go to the cops, and this whole thing will be over with, all right?
Melanie: You know it's not gonna be that simple.
Chad: Well, you know what? This is the best thing I can come up with right now. Gabi, what do you think?
Gabi: I mean, I just--I want my life back and if--if you think that going to Stefano is the best option, then I can't-- I can't stop you, Chad.
Chad: It is. I just want you to be safe, that's it.
Gabi: Thank you.
Chad: In fact, you know what? I'm gonna go right now.
Melanie: Right now?
Chad: Yeah, I mean, why wait? I'll call you.
Abe: You know, your favorite TV show's on right now.
Lexie: Ah, my favorite TV show.
Abe: Yeah, you know, the one with the cop and the guy--
Lexie: Yeah, I think you mean your favorite TV show.
Abe: [Chuckles] Maybe.
Lexie: Okay. You can turn it on. I'll go make some tea.
Abe: Lexie, look--
Lexie: No, no, I need to move. I'm getting a little stiff.
Woman: We interrupt this program with breaking news. According to sources, prominent Salem resident Stefano DiMera was shot dead in his own home tonight in an apparent homicide. Salem P.D. spokesmen refused--
Lexie: Honey? You want, um, green tea or lemon?
Abe: Um, lemon, lemon, lemon.
Lexie: What happened? I thought you were watching the show.
Abe: Yeah, it's a rerun. I'd rather spend the time with you.
Lexie: Oh, sweetheart.
Marlena: [Chuckles] All dry, huh?
Marlena: Doesn't that feel good? What are you doing?
John: I'm gonna check out the weather and see how much longer we have to put up with this rain.
Woman: Again, we have received numerous reports that Stefano DiMera, CEO of DiMera Enterprises, is dead. DiMera was recently hailed as a hero, helping the CIA capture...
Marlena: Oh, my gosh.
Woman: An international arms dealer.
Marlena: That can't be true. Is it possible?
John: Well, if it is... our dreams have just come true.
Woman: ...EJ DiMera, who has yet to issue a statement regarding reports of his father's death.
Roman: Oh, hey.
Roman: Thanks for coming. Good to see you. I'm glad you're here.
Bo: We were--I heard the reports on the radio on the way here. Didn't think this was possible.
Roman: Oh, it is. Yeah. Gunshot from behind... into Stefano's back, through his chest.
Bo: Any leads on the murder weapon?
Roman: Yeah, it could be a big one, actually. The killer left this behind. Odds are it is the murder weapon. We won't know for sure till ballistics does their thing. We also found bullet holes in the living room, but they're not from this gun.
Hope: How do you know?
Roman: This gun was only fired once.
Bo: So the killer leaves the murder weapon here? That's a bit careless.
Hope: Well, maybe they wanted it found.
Roman: Possibility. Yeah, we received an anonymous phone call earlier. Person used a voice-altering device, told us Stefano had been murdered, obviously knew what they were talking about.
Hope: Our killer?
Bo: So? What? We'll question the neighbors. Call relatives.
Roman: Not tonight, no. You are not here to investigate. You're here to answer some questions.
Hope: What is that supposed to mean?
Roman: Well, I'm sorry to tell you this, but as of right now, you two are suspects.
Hope: Suspects? You can't be serious.
Roman: Look, need I remind you of our earlier conversation when you two and John and Marlena made it very clear your feelings about Stefano. You wanted the man dead, the man is dead.
Bo: Come on, Roman. The guy was a monster. The world's a better place without him. It doesn't mean we killed him.
Roman: So where were you tonight?
Hope: We were at home. We were at home together.
Roman: That true, Bo?
Bo: Yeah. Home together all night.
Roman: Can anybody confirm your alibis?
Bo: Are you calling us liars?
Roman: Bo, again, you know how this works. I need to cover all my bases.
Hope: Well, look, you have the murder weapon.
Roman: Supposed murder weapon.
Hope: Well, look, I still have my gun.
Bo: And I've got mine.
Roman: All right, in that case, have either one of you seen this gun before?
Roman: Well, okay, then. I think we are done... at least for now.
Bo: All right, great. Let's get to work.
Roman: No, not yet. You two don't get anywhere near this case until you're cleared.
Chad: Whoa, whoa, whoa, let me in. This is--this is my father's house. Get your hands off me! Come on, guys.
Roman: Let him go. Let him go in.
Chad: What the hell is-- oh, my God. Is that my father?
Roman: Yeah, son, I'm sorry. That is your father.
Chad: [Scoffs] No, no, no, no. This--this--this can't be happening. Who did this?
Roman: That is exactly what we're trying to figure out. I have to call--I have to call my brother. I have to find EJ. I have to get EJ. Where's EJ?
Kate: [Sighs] God. Maybe you're right. Maybe a little... rest will do me good, huh?
Ian: Yes. You'll wake up refreshed tomorrow, and we can handle your divorce papers together. I know you're worried, Kate, but my lawyers will take care of everything. You'll never have to worry about Stefano DiMera again.
[Knock on door]
Will: Hey. Hey, sweetie. Grandma, are you okay?
Kate: Yeah, I'm okay. What's the matter?
Will: You didn't hear?
Kate: I didn't hear what?
Will: [Sighs] Stefano is dead. They're saying that he was murdered.
Kate: Honey, you have to have heard that wrong.
Ian: Do you want to sit down?
Kate: No, I don't want to sit down. Will, you heard that wrong. Stefano is not dead.
Will: I'm sorry. I'm really sorry.
Kate: No. No, no, no. [Crying]
Ian: Do they know who did it?
Roman: Abe, hey.
Abe: Come on in. [Sighs]
Roman: Expecting me?
Abe: Uh, well, you know, it's all over the news, and I figured if it was true, you'd be coming.
Roman: Well, it's true. Stefano's been killed.
Abe: Look, um... Lexie just went to bed and she doesn't know this yet. So is there any way we can do this in the morning?
Roman: Partner, we're talking about a murder investigation here. I can't just put it off.
Abe: I-I-I know, but...
Roman: Abe, Stefano's dead. I need to do my job.
Lexie: My father's dead? No.
Abe: It's okay.
Lexie: No, no, that's not possible. He was just here. I just saw him. Roman, he was just here today.
Roman: Lexie, I am so sorry. I know this couldn't come at a worse time.
Lexie: I don't--I don't understand. What--what happened? Was it his heart... his--his diabetes, what?
Roman: Your father was murdered, Lexie.
Lexie: Murdered? Oh, my God.
Abe: It's all right.
Lexie: Oh, my God.
Abe: Come on, come on. Come on. Just come over here. Let's sit down. Sit down right here. Come on over here. Come over here, sweetheart.
Lexie: [Whimpering, crying] I don't understand. Okay, I know--I know he--I know he had enemies, but... who? Who did this, Roman?
Roman: Well, we have a few suspects, but nothing definitive.
Lexie: Roman, you have to find who did this.
Roman: Lexie, listen, I promise you I will do whatever I can to find the person responsible for your father's death. Okay? I promise you that. Now, listen, um... so, um... you said your father was here today?
Lexie: Yeah. He, uh--he wanted to spend some time with me be-- because of my condition.
Roman: Is that, uh... is that the last time you saw him?
Roman: All right, Abe, how about you? When was the last time you saw him?
Abe: You've hurt the people I love for the last time. Yeah. Yeah, that's the last time I saw him.
Roman: So, when Will arrived?
Kate: Yes, that was, um, the first time that I heard of Stefano's death.
Roman: Now, Will, how'd you find out?
Will: What did I ever do to you? Nothing. Absolutely nothing! But you didn't think twice about destroying my life! It was everywhere. Everyone was talking about it. So, as soon as I heard, I knew I had to come check on Grandma.
Roman: Kate, when's the last time you saw Stefano?
Kate: I mean, I... I can't even remember. I, uh... he sent me divorce papers today, but it was via messenger, so...
Roman: So you didn't speak with him?
Kate: Why couldn't you just divorce me like a normal human being? That's right, though... because you're not a human being. No, I didn't speak with him. And now I guess I never will.
Roman: All right... would you say that you were happy about the news, John?
John: Overjoyed. But you already knew that, so why don't you ask us some real questions?
Roman: Did you see DiMera tonight?
John: I'll be honest. I almost went over there.
Roman: What stopped you?
John: You. You told me to steer clear, so I did.
Roman: You never listened to me before.
John: [Chuckles] Yeah, well, I guess there's a first time for everything, isn't there?
Roman: I guess so. Well, Marlena, how about you? Did you happen to go over to the DiMera place? Maybe have a talk with Stefano?
Marlena: You torture and torment people... because deep down inside, you know you have nothing to offer. You have nothing to give the world. Stefano tried to kill all of us. Why would I ever want to see him? What, give him a second chance?
Roman: Did you or did you not see Stefano?
Marlena: No, I didn't.
Roman: Okay. Is there anything else you both would like to tell me?
Marlena: No. That's everything.
Chad: EJ. You're here. I-I didn't know if I should call you or come looking for you. I mean, I was gonna leave, but they told me I should just stay here, and so I did.
EJ: It's okay.
Chad: God, this is such a nightmare. This is such a nightmare. I came here to ask him a question, and n-now he's dead. He's Stefano DiMera. He's supposed--he's--
EJ: It's okay. It's okay.
Chad: I don't understand why anyone would do this.
EJ: I just left my house. The coroner had me formally identify the body.
Roman: Sorry for your loss.
EJ: Thank you. You're, um, being very kind.
Roman: Well, obviously you came down here for a reason. Something you want to tell me?
EJ: I mean, I don't think it's much of secret my father and I had a tumultuous relationship. It was marked by a lot of up and downs. I thought you should hear it from me. Recently we were going through... somewhat of a rough patch.
Roman: Why are you telling me this?
EJ: Because sooner or later, you're going to look towards me as one of the suspects and, uh... I'd rather you got me out of the way sooner rather than later, so you can focus on finding the real killer.
Roman: I see. All right, so you're telling me that you relationship with your father was strained. Why is that?
EJ: Same reason it always is. He resents the fact that... I'm trying to take over from him.
Roman: And were you?
EJ: No. I have my own life. I have my own goals. I'm a lot more than just his son.
Melanie: Chad, oh, my God. Hey.
Gabi: Chad, I am so sorry.
Melanie: What happened?
Chad: When I got there, he was already gone. There was a sheet over him.
Melanie: Oh, I'm so sorry.
Chad: I don't know if I'll ever be able to get that out of my head?
Gabi: Chad, is there anything, anything at all that you need?
Chad: No, I'm okay.
Gabi: No, you're not. You're not okay.
Chad: You're right. I'm not okay. I've already lost my mother. I just lost my father. I'm alone. I am completely alone.
Melanie: No. No. Hey. No! No! Look at me--you're not alone. Hey. You have me... okay?
Officer: Commissioner? We got an I.D. on the gun.
Roman: Abe Carver? The murder weapon belongs to Abe Carver? Are you sure?
Officer: Yes, sir.
Roman: Any hits on the prints?
Officer: Lab's still working on it.
Roman: Well tell 'em to work faster, all right? Damn it.
Lexie: Good night. Can I tell you something?
Lexie: When Roman showed up tonight, I thought that, um, my father couldn't handle the guilt. I thought he killed himself.
Abe: Would that have made any difference?
Lexie: I don't know. [Crying] All I know is he's gone. He's gone.
Abe: Oh, sweetie. [Sighs] I know, I know, I know, I know. But don't worry, don't worry. I promise you... I will see that justice is done.
John: Hey. I'm hitting the sack.
Marlena: Okay. John?
Marlena: Do you think we should have told Roman that we were out tonight?
John: He didn't ask. He asked if we saw DiMera. I told him the truth.
Marlena: Yeah. I did too.
John: Good. Then we've got nothing to worry about, right?
Hope: You know, uh, maybe we should go pick up Ciara.
Bo: No, no, don't want to ruin her sleepover.
Hope: Yeah, right. I hate that R oman's keeping us off the case.
Bo: Yeah, well, as soon as our names are cleared, we'll be back on it.
Hope: Yeah, right. Once our names are cleared.
Will: Okay, well, um... if you need anything, ever... [Chuckles] Just call me.
Kate: Thanks, honey. But you did enough already. I'm gonna be all right.
Will: It's okay. You don't have to be strong. I mean, your husband just died today.
Kate: Yeah, I know. But to be honest with you, I knew this day would come, when all his scheming and plotting would get him killed.
Will: Okay, well, you know where to find me.
Roman: Did you get a match on the prints?
Officer: Yes, sir. A lot of them.
Roman: Eight matches. Well... they're all here-- Abe... Hope... Bo... John... Marlena... EJ... Kate... [Sighs] And Will. One of these people murdered Stefano DiMera. But which one?
