Jennifer: To us.
Jennifer: [Giggles] Mmm. Delicious.
Jack: You know... I kind of like the idea of celebrating our anniversary with my fiancÚ.
Jennifer: I do too. I mean, it wouldn't be us if we did it the conventional way, right?
Jack: Wait a minute. If we get remarried, that means we get to celebrate three different anniversaries. Is that right?
Abigail: Do you think you can handle the excitement of this kind of party three times in one year, Dad?
Jack: Sarcasm-- I think that was sarcasm.
Jennifer: You know, maybe she just doesn't think that sharing a muffin is cutting edge.
Abigail: What I think is... it's a little weird that you asked me to join you. Ever heard the expression "three's a crowd"?
Cameron: It's amazing. You were out so late. You look even better than you did when we said good night.
EJ: Here we are.
Lexie: Oh, thank you.
EJ: You sure you're okay with it?
Lexie: Ooh, yeah, it feels good. My hands are so cold.
EJ: It's not too hot?
Lexie: No, no, no, it feels really good. But I think I'll let it cool a bit before I drink it.
EJ: It's a beautiful day we're having.
Lexie: Mm. The lilacs are out. Oh, they're so beautiful this year.
Lexie: Did I tell you that Theo is learning yoga with those videotapes you gave him for Christmas?
Lexie: Yeah. [Laughs]
Lexie: Yeah, Abe was at his soccer game and saw him on the sidelines doing yoga poses. [Laughs] [Sighs] I wish I could have seen that.
EJ: Yeah, me too.
Lexie: Hmm. You'll go to his games, right?
Lexie: Okay. And make sure that Johnny and Sydney are a big part of his life. [Chuckles] I wish I could have given Theo a little brother. I wish he could have had what I have.
EJ: A selfish fool who never really listened to his sister... though she was his heart and his conscience. Come here, you. [Groans]
Lexie: Oh, honey.
EJ: [Chuckles] I just wish I could hold on to you and never let you go.
Will: EJ? EJ? [Chuckles] If you're looking for EJ, he's not here.
Sami: Actually, I'm looking for you.
Will: Really, here?
Sami: It's a pretty cute trick you have, keeping your voice mail full so that I can't leave you any more messages. Will, you can't keep avoiding me.
Will: Um, I'm sorry--you want to do this here, in Stefano's house?
Sami: I don't care where we do it. I have something I have to tell you, and you have to listen to me.
Cameron: Uh, looks like I'm interrupting a celebration here. I'll catch up with you later.
Jack: No, no, don't!
Jennifer: Don't go!
Jack: Don't go.
Abigail: Okay, that wasn't necessary.
Cameron: Uh, you sure I'm not crashing the party?
Jack: No, no, not at all. We'd love to hear why you had my daughter out so late last night.
Jack: Come on, if he's an honest man, he won't mind answering a few questions, like where'd you go? What time did you get in? What are your plans for life? And... when do you plan on asking my daughter out again?
Abigail: Well, while you're at it, why don't you just ask him his SAT scores?
Cameron: It's okay, Abigail. I don't mind. Um, the last question--the truth is, I don't know if we're going out again.
Cameron: You see, sir, it's up to your daughter.
Will: Um, you know, you don't have to say anything, Mom, because you made your feelings pretty clear already.
Sami: No, I didn't.
Will: Really? Walking out and slamming the door isn't exactly a mixed message.
Sami: I wasn't thinking. I was just upset.
Will: You weren't thinking? Okay, what about when you came back and you made things worse? Were you still not thinking?
Will: You don't have to say anything. I didn't tell you I was gay to get your permission. It was a point of information. So, if you don't like it, we can just go our separate ways.
Sami: Will, I want you to listen to me.
Will: I don't have to do anything. I don't have time to talk to you, okay? I need to find EJ.
Sami: Why? Why are you looking for EJ so desperately?
Will: Uh, personal and none of your business.
Sami: No, wait a second. You are not going anywhere until we talk about this.
Lexie: I want to tell you something... something that's not easy to talk about.
Lexie: Um... you know that I love Theo with every fiber of my being. But sometimes it's a challenge. You know, I mean, Abe and I have to be his parent, his therapist, his advocate, his--oh, goodness, it's just--it's relentless. And, um, sometimes when he's had a really hard day and we just can't seem to reach him... it's--it's defeating... you know? What--what got me through those feelings, what helped me fight off despair was my work-- going to the hospital, doing my job. You know, it was my salvation. It gave me strength. Abe is going to be raising Theo on his own, with no job to go to. I mean, after Theo and me, being mayor was the most important thing in the world to him. And you took that away from him.
Lexie: I'm asking you to give it back.
Abigail: How happy I am to be having this conversation with my parents present. Maybe we could phone-in JJ, see if he has any input, hmm?
[Cell phone rings]
Cameron: Sorry. It's just the hospital. Some tests I ordered will be ready in an hour.
Jack: Wait a minute--you order tests? That means you're a--
Abigail: Doctor, yeah. You tense up every time your phone rings.
Abigail: He's worried about Lexie.
Jennifer: Oh, uh, how do you know Lexie?
Cameron: She's my sister... half-sister.
Jennifer: Oh, okay, I didn't know that.
Cameron: Neither did she. She, uh--our mother likes to keep things interesting.
Jennifer: Well, it's wonderful that you're here for her right now.
Cameron: Yeah. Unfortunately, there's not a lot I can do.
Abigail: That is not true. He's been working at the hospital and seeing some of Lexie's patients.
Cameron: Yeah, she worries about them. I wish she wouldn't, but, you know, you can't tell her anything.
Jennifer: I know--that's Lexie.
Jennifer: You know, she said she would call me when she felt up to having some company.
Cameron: She gets pretty tired these days.
Jack: You know, it's such a nice day. What do you say we take a walk?
Jennifer: No, I didn't finish my muffin yet, Jack--
Jack: I think that...
Jennifer: Oh! Yes, yes. Let's go--let's take a walk. It's beautiful out.
Jennifer: Cameron, it's, um, so nice to meet you. Very nice to meet you.
Jack: Yes, absolutely.
Jennifer: See you.
Cameron: See you. I really like your folks.
Abigail: Yeah, they're great... most of the time.
Abigail: So did you see Lexie this morning?
Cameron: I called. But, um, she said not to come over. There was something she had to do.
EJ: I really don't know what to say.
Lexie: I surprised you, right? I'll bet you thought I was too fine of a person to play the "brain tumor" card to get what I wanted from you.
EJ: [Chuckles] Look, I would do anything for you. You know that.
Lexie: But not for Abe?
EJ: [Exhales deeply] Alexandra, there was an election. I mean, I won.
Lexie: You could resign.
EJ: Even if I did resign, it's incredibly unlikely that Abraham would fill the post.
Lexie: Because he got the debate questions in advance.
Lexie: I want you to fix that. And I want you to clear him and Jennifer of the ballot-tampering charges, of which they are completely innocent.
EJ: Do you?
EJ: Is there anything else I can do for you?
Lexie: As a matter of fact, there is. After you've cleared their names, I want you to announce that you are stepping down as mayor to concentrate on your personal life. And then I want you to endorse Abe.
EJ: Alexandra, I don't have a personal life. I mean, this--this fledgling political career is the only thing that I have.
Lexie: Well, they can come up with something for you to do. EJ, you can't tell me that you actually enjoy going to city council meetings. I mean, really. You're playing at being the mayor. What you are is Stefano DiMera's heir apparent.
EJ: Look, my situation with Father is not exactly what it used to be.
Lexie: Okay. Something's going on. What is it?
EJ: Do you really have to ask?
Lexie: No. No, no, no, no. Something besides me.
EJ: Alexandra... I can't do any of these things you're asking me to do... not anymore.
Will: I'm not gonna tell you anything.
Sami: Will... Will, is EJ making you do something that you don't want to do?
Will: Why are you--who are you to judge anybody, even EJ?
Sami: All right, all right. I don't want to talk about EJ. I really don't. Here's what I came to say. You told me to look in the mirror. I did. And I saw that what I did and how I handled it is the worst possible thing you could do when your son tells you that he's gay. I walked out. And I just want you to hear me say I'm sorry.
Will: You're sorry.
Sami: Sorrier than I can even describe.
Will: And I'm supposed to believe that?
Sami: I haven't finished.
Will: Okay, knock yourself out.
Sami: Well... what I was going to say is I would love for there to be a do-over. You could start over. You could tell me everything that you wanted to say the first time.
Will: Okay, what do you want to know?
Sami: Um, well, I talked to Adrienne about it, and, um, she said that Sonny had--had known all along, ever since he was little. And I was thinking about you, and I didn't feel like I ever saw you struggling with something like that until the last couple months, and, well, I just wanted to know why that is. Um, did something happen?
Will: No. Nothing happened. I just figured it out. I just knew.
Sami: H-how? Why? I mean, you had girlfriends.
Will: Look, I'm not gonna justify this to you.
Sami: No, no. I'm not asking you to do that. I'm sorry, again. I'm just new--new to this, and, you know, I'm just trying to understand. You weren't including me along the way, so you kind of just threw it in my face when you were mad at me, and I'm just trying to--
Will: Okay, what are you saying?
Sami: Well, if you were trying to make a point, that I wasn't paying attention, you succeeded.
Will: Oh, my God, you're doing it again.
Will: Really? I was trying to get your attention?
Sami: No, no. I didn't mean it like that.
Will: What are you saying, then? You're making this about you!
Sami: No, I'm--I'm not! You're not listening to me! I'm asking everything--all of this is about you.
Will: Yes, but that was to come to the conclusion that I decided to be gay so I could get your attention! That is unbelievable.
EJ: Hey. I really don't think this is the time to be talking about my problems.
Lexie: You and Father aren't getting along.
EJ: [Sighs] You could say that.
Lexie: I've seen you distancing yourself from him. I know that running for mayor was your way of saying that you're not Father.
Lexie: But, EJ, you aren't him, no matter what your job position is.
EJ: I need you to know something. Theo is always going to be taken care of--financially, I mean.
Lexie: Don't you even think about trying to change the subject here.
EJ: Ah! I'm just trying to take a break from Father--that's all I'm telling you, okay?
Lexie: Yeah, but... listen to this. You did. Honey, you did take a break. And I believe that you've changed Father... because I never thought in a million years that he... [Chuckles] That he would work with the federal government to help, like, set up an arms dealer? I mean, really?
EJ: [Laughs] Right.
Lexie: Yeah. I really--I really believe that, uh, this is the beginning of the DiMera name being a source of pride. Maybe you and Father can change what that name means. Okay... something's going on. There's something you're not telling me. Okay, what is it? Hmm? If you tell me, I'll stop leaning on you about Abe. Let me help you, EJ... hey, while I still have time. [Laughs]
EJ: I'm sorry, sweetheart. This one not even you can fix. And that is saying something. Ugh. Hmm. I, uh... I can't change the DiMera name... because I'm not a DiMera.
EJ: There was some sort of mix-up, apparently. Stefano is not my Father. I'm not a DiMera. You're not my sister.
Cameron: It's kind of nice to see people who have been together so long that are still happy to be married.
Abigail: Oh, my parents are divorced.
Cameron: They're celebrating their anniversary, but they're divorced? I got to say that's pretty amicable.
Abigail: Very amicable, because they are engaged to be married again.
Cameron: To each other?
Cameron: And I thought my family was unconventional.
Abigail: I consider myself so lucky to be born before internet dating, because there is not a website in this entire world that would put those two together.
Cameron: And yet they're ready to get married all over again.
Abigail: Well, third time could be a charm.
Cameron: Third time?
Abigail: It's a really, really long story. Anyway, here's hoping.
Jennifer: So what do you think? Do you think that it's all over for us... the danger, drama, living on the edge, cross-purpose disaster part of our lives?
Jack: You want it to be?
Jennifer: I don't know. I mean, it was pretty exhausting.
Jack: It was exhausting. But it was also pretty exciting sometimes too.
Jennifer: [Chuckles] Yes, it was... it was very exciting. And it was good. It was really good.
Lexie: Father must have done something terribly wrong for you to say that he's no longer your father.
EJ: Alexandra, I mean it literally. He's not my father.
Lexie: Wait. What?
EJ: He thought he was, and then, uh...
Lexie: Oh, EJ.
EJ: When he found out he wasn't my biological father, he set about... [Chuckles] I don't know-- trying to undo my life, I suppose. He worked behind my back to undermine everything that I've ever achieved. And, uh... then he disowned me... to my face.
Lexie: Oh, God, but that doesn't make sense. I mean, he's put his whole life--I mean, the future of the DiMera family behind you.
EJ: That was when he thought I was his son. When he thought I had his blood running through my veins. I put my life on the line for that man many times. It means nothing.
Lexie: You know what? He's reeling, okay? He's reeling. He'll get over it, okay?
EJ: Alexandra, even if he did, I won't get over it. Do you know that he had William break up my marriage to Nicole?
Lexie: No, no, he knows how much she means to you.
EJ: I was happy. He didn't like that. You know, I didn't do anything to deserve this. I didn't deceive him into thinking that--that--that I was his son somehow. All I did was love him... you know? But... [Scoffs] That means nothing.
Lexie: [Scoffs] I don't believe him. I'm gonna go--I'm gonna talk to him.
EJ: Hey, no, you will not. No, you will not.
EJ: Alexandra, please... you promise me. Hey. Promise me--you do not confront him. Okay? You do not have the strength for it, and this is not how you spend your time.
Lexie: EJ, this is wrong, okay?
EJ: I did not want to tell you. You forced it out of me.
Lexie: Look at me. You can tell me anything.
EJ: I didn't want you to know that you weren't my sister.
Lexie: The hell I'm not. You are my brother. And nothing can change that. Nothing, you hear me? Nothing! Nothing, nothing.
Will: See ya.
Sami: You get to walk out, but it's not okay when I do it? Will... the library of congress has an entire wing dedicated to my faults. But if there's one thing I don't do... I don't judge people. [Chuckles] Okay, fine. All right, I do that too. I judge people I hate. I judge people who deserve it. I don't judge people for who they are. I love you. I love you with everything I've got... unconditionally. So now I know something about you that I--that I didn't know before. But that does not change how I feel about you.
Will: So you're okay with me being gay?
Sami: [Sighs] No, I-I can't say that either.
Will: So can we be done talking now maybe? Because every time I think I can't feel worse, you make that happen.
Sami: You don't ever let me finish. Please, I'm not done. What I wanted to say is I am okay with you being gay. I'm just worried about the rest of the world.
Will: Yeah, Dad--okay, Dad said the same thing, but that's ridiculous.
Sami: It's not ridiculous! I read all the time about bullying and people doing terrible things, and I don't want that--
Will: Yeah, but the world is changing... I mean, slowly but families all over are realizing that someone they love is gay.
Sami: Well, I hope they handle it better than I did. If you had even one moment of shame or fear because of how I reacted or how you thought I was feeling... you're my first born. You put up with me when I didn't know squat about how to be a mother, and when you were little, it was like you and me-- we were this team. Will, there is a huge part of my heart... just for you. I love you so much. I just want to know if you'll give me another chance.
Lexie: Now, you listen to me. I have fought with you, mourned with you, worried about you.
Lexie: You've been an uncle to my son. You've called a truce with my husband. More importantly, you are here for me when I need you the most. That's what makes you my brother, not some markers on a paternity test.
EJ: [Sighs] Thank you. I'm glad somebody in the family feels that way.
EJ: This news, especially Father's--oh, look at that. I'm still calling him "Father."
EJ: Especially his reaction to it, it's hit me rather hard.
Lexie: Well, how do you know it's true? Have you had a DNA test done?
EJ: Alexandra, he's made up his mind.
Lexie: [Sighs] Well, it doesn't matter, okay? Because no blood test, not father, nothing can sever my connection with you. You are stuck with me forever... and ever... and ever... and ever and ever.
Lexie: I love you. And ever--I love you.
EJ: I love you.
Lexie: [Laughing] You know, there are times when I wish I wasn't a DiMera.
EJ: No, really?
Lexie: Goodness, I really don't like everyone I know hating my family... [Sighs] For good reason, you know? I don't like never knowing what father's gonna do next. I get so tired of fighting off A... [Sighs] A genetic disposition to pure evil.
EJ: I could not possibly imagine what you mean.
Lexie: But you know what, little brother? You made it all worth it. It's all been worth it, having you as a brother. Listen, um... I'm sorry... for all the pain you're in right now, but I don't believe it was some twist of fate that brought you to our family. I believe that God brought you to us. I believe that God decided that you and I should be brother and sister.
EJ: You are the sweetest sister a man could ever ask for.
Lexie: Mm, well, wait until I'm gone before you declare me a saint, okay?
EJ: That's not funny!
Lexie: [Laughs] Oh, EJ. Okay, okay, let's change the subject.
Lexie: Let's talk about father.
EJ: Oh! My favorite subject.
Lexie: I want you to think about how utterly alone he is right now. I mean, yeah, it was his own doing, but... EJ, we both know how much he loved you... how much he needed you. Yet, what did he do when he got the news? He pushed you away. Why?
EJ: Alexandra, you don't seriously expect me to feel sorry for him, do you?
Lexie: I know--I know you're hurting. I know you're hurting. But think about the fact that he might be hurting himself even more. I just don't want you to end up like him.
EJ: It's sort of the ultimate irony, isn't it? You know?
EJ: I'm not his son, but I am just like him.
Cameron: [Sighs] I got to go pick up those tests and check in on another one of Lexie's patients.
Abigail: Okay. Well, I'm glad we ran into each other.
Cameron: Yeah, me too. You know, you never said anything about going out again. Uh, I was wondering if you're busy tonight, then maybe we--
Abigail: Actually, I do have plans tonight.
Cameron: Got ya.
Abigail: But I was just thinking... they could include you.
Jennifer: Do you think that we have grown up, like...
Jennifer: Jack, I am serious. Do you think that we are--that we are settled down?
Jack: Well, um... [Cell phone rings] Hold that thought. I think that... no. I don't think that we've settled down quite yet.
Will: Mom, you, um... drive me insane. [Chuckles] But, uh... it's only because of how much that I love you.
Sami: I haven't been so sure for the last couple months.
Sami: But--uh, but I believe you. Don't take it back, okay?
Sami: [Crying] I love you so much. And you know I just want you to be happy. I want you to be so happy, and I just don't want anybody to ever hurt you.
Will: Everybody gets hurt sometimes.
Sami: I know. I know. But I don't want to hurt you. I don't want to hurt you ever again. I hope you know that.
Will: I do. I do.
Sami: Oh. I'm here with Karen and her BFFs.
Abigail: It's my parents' anniversary dinner. Why don't you come?
Cameron: I don't want to horn in on a family thing.
Abigail: You'd be doing me a favor, trust me. Now that they're back together for, like, the 94th time, they flirt, and they kiss, like, every two seconds and--I mean, I'm really happy for them, but, honestly, it's--
Cameron: I could prescribe some anti-nausea meds.
Abigail: That would be fantastic.
Cameron: [Chuckles] But still, I don't think they'd want an outsider there.
Abigail: You're not an outsider. You're... you're Lexie's little brother.
Cameron: Oh. That's all it takes?
Abigail: They like you, okay? Trust me, it was killing my dad to not set the whole thing up before he left--I could tell.
Cameron: So I'd be doing you a favor if I showed up?
Abigail: Yes, Cameron, you would be doing me a favor.
Cameron: Then I'll see you tonight.
Jennifer: EJ wants to run for governor?
Jack: Yes, that's the story. But what makes it a real story is that he's trying to do it on the Q.T.
Jennifer: He wants to run for governor and not tell anyone about it?
Jennifer: That's a problem, Jack.
Jack: Look, Jennifer, this state cannot afford to have a governor named Elvis. Listen, I'm gonna stop him. I'm gonna do it.
Jennifer: No, you're right. I mean, who am I to stand in the way of--of journalism and good citizenship, Jack?
Jack: Yes. Like, I'm just gonna--I'm gonna make a couple of phone calls here and then, uh... what am I saying? Look, in the grand scheme of things, today's our anniversary. We're here together. There's nothing more important than you and me.
Jack: You're the most important thing in the world to me.
Jennifer: Yes, yes. No, no! Jack, I get this. I get you because it's me. I want you to do this. Go. Go after the story. Make your calls. Go. Stop him.
Jack: Okay. All right. [Sighs] I am not going to let this mess up our lives again. You got to trust me.
Jennifer: I trust you.
EJ: And I'm also really concerned about how this is going to affect Johnny and Sydney.
Lexie: Is Father freezing them out too?
Lexie: Oh, that man.
EJ: I mean, they haven't noticed anything, but they'll find out eventually, and they adore him.
Lexie: Does Sami know?
EJ: The only person who knows is you.
Lexie: Well... EJ, they have you. And when the time comes, you'll make them understand. Just be the father that they need.
EJ: Look... Alexandra, you know, when I ran for mayor, that was something that I did because I wanted them to be proud of me. I'd do anything in the entire world for you. You know that. But giving up this job--I've lost everything that I have. I can't do it.
Lexie: I get it.
EJ: But what I can do for you is get those charges dropped against Abraham and Jennifer.
Lexie: Deal. [Both imitate explosion] Thank you, thank you, thank you. I knew asking you to give up being mayor was a long shot, but, you know, I mean, I had to try, right?
EJ: You look tired, sweetheart. I need to go.
EJ: I don't deserve a sister like you.
EJ: Come here.
EJ: Mm. Okay. Mm.
Sami: All right, all right.
Sami: So now that we're friends again, I think you should tell me what's really going on with you and EJ. You know, what are you dealing with? I know you're upset. I can see that. I'm not gonna judge you. You can trust me. Just tell me what it is.
Will: Um, yeah, there is something.
Sami: I knew it.
Will: But I can't tell you.
Sami: Why not? Come on, you can tell me. You think I don't know what it feels like to deal with EJ?
Will: You're not--you're not gonna understand this.
Sami: Is it illegal?
Sami: Look, just tell me. Get it off your chest. You'll feel so much better. I mean, what did EJ do now?
Will: Um, EJ's not the bad guy this time. I am.
Sami: What are you talking about?
Will: You know how I made you feel horrible for losing Rafe? That is really my fault.
Will: I am the reason that... Rafe knows that you had sex with EJ.
